- 0:00Speaker 1: Kevin growing Are, UK correspondent with US tonight evening his
- 0:02Speaker 1: time given. Good morning, Hi there right now. So we've
- 0:07Speaker 1: got this meeting between the EU and the UK. It's
- 0:10Speaker 1: a bilateral one, it's post brickset and what are we
- 0:13Speaker 1: going to get out of it? Do you think?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah? I think it's going to be very very interesting.
- 0:17Speaker 2: The Government's got a very very fine line to tread here.
- 0:21Speaker 2: This is the first bilateral summit since Brexit, described by
- 0:25Speaker 2: our Prime minister as a really significant moment, described by
- 0:29Speaker 2: others les keen on Europe as a time to really
- 0:31Speaker 2: watch the fine print of what might be agreed now.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Make no mistake, the EU is the UK's largest trading
- 0:39Speaker 2: partner and many think that we need a reset of
- 0:41Speaker 2: relations since these sort of slightly dismistrusting Brexit period. And
- 0:48Speaker 2: it is thought that we're likely to see announcements of
- 0:51Speaker 2: trade and security tie ups, including British access to about
- 0:55Speaker 2: two hundred and seventy billion New Zealand dollars worth of
- 0:58Speaker 2: the EU Defense Fund in what could be a big
- 1:01Speaker 2: boost for UK defense companies. But there are also reports
- 1:05Speaker 2: that this could be an agreement on allowing travelers from
- 1:08Speaker 2: Britain to use these e gates, the electronic gates at
- 1:11Speaker 2: European airports, which currently they can't do, and also big
- 1:15Speaker 2: question marks about food exports imports. Are we going to
- 1:19Speaker 2: be able to cut through the huge amount of red
- 1:21Speaker 2: tape that's been added since Brexit, which so many farmers
- 1:25Speaker 2: are complaining about. And another thing that's been well mooted
- 1:28Speaker 2: here is this youth mobility scheme where at the moment
- 1:32Speaker 2: we have, of course youngsters under the age of thirty
- 1:34Speaker 2: from Australia and New Zealand areowed to come and work
- 1:37Speaker 2: in the UK for a year, maybe two years depending
- 1:40Speaker 2: on the agreement. Nothing for the euse, so that may
- 1:42Speaker 2: be up for grabs as well. But plenty who voted
- 1:45Speaker 2: for Brexit here and are deeply untrusting of this government
- 1:49Speaker 2: are looking at the fine print of what's been agreed
- 1:51Speaker 2: saying we don't want Brexit by the back law.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Interesting, Gavin, thank you for that. Devin Gray, are you
