- 0:00Happy Monday morning, everybody. We have exciting news reported
- 0:07by the Channel 2 weather this morning.
- 0:11They say that this Thursday, the humidity and the steamer, the
- 0:17steamer in Saint Louis is going to come to an end.
- 0:21Praise the Lord, man. It's a it's been a summer to
- 0:28remember. It has been 100° and the
- 0:32humidity has been 110%. I'm excited about that.
- 0:39All right. What a day.
- 0:43Yesterday at Indy. You talk about a lot of
- 0:46storylines. I love it.
- 0:49So let let's get right to it, OK?
- 0:53My brother, Bubba Wallace. Yes, we're related.
- 1:00It's so funny. People for years have, you know,
- 1:07they trying to get me, you know? Hey, Wallace, you related to
- 1:11Bubba? I said, oh, yeah, we're both
- 1:13Wallace's. OK, I'm going to give you my
- 1:17opinion on Bubba, and then we're going to talk about the empty
- 1:21grandstands again. But there's more to those empty
- 1:27grandstands. OK, Bubba Wallace, I've told you
- 1:32all this before, but it's, you know, been years ago.
- 1:37I met Bubba years ago in Concord, NC, at the Cracker
- 1:45Barrel, right by the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
- 1:51His mom and dad and Bubba, they were so nice.
- 1:54Gosh, I'm guessing maybe 20 years ago now, maybe not that
- 2:00long, but boy, it's, it's been a while.
- 2:01Let's let's say at least 1215 years ago I met Bubba Wallace
- 2:07when I met him, the nicest, nicest family you'd ever want to
- 2:12meet in your life. I know a little bit more than
- 2:15you all know. You know it.
- 2:17It's like when it's like when I had brother Rusty and Angie
- 2:21Skinner on Kenny conversation, Rusty said something that I
- 2:25really liked. He's got Rusty's got good stuff.
- 2:28He's smart. He says you know when you just
- 2:31know more than people know, when you know information, you can
- 2:35make it a better judgement, right?
- 2:37When when you know more than other people know, it's like
- 2:40they don't know that. So with that being said, let me
- 2:43say this about Bubble. I know that he's a lightning rod
- 2:47and I know that he's controversial.
- 2:52I know that he gets a lot of boos.
- 2:55But I got to be honest with you. There's a reason Ryan Blaney and
- 3:01Bubba Wallace have been best friends and they've been playing
- 3:04music together. You see all the videos out
- 3:07there. There's a reason Denny Hamlin,
- 3:12you know, and Bubba hit it off there.
- 3:16There's so many drivers that like Bubba.
- 3:19Bubba got thrown to the wolves with that whole that whole
- 3:24situation. OK.
- 3:29What I mean by that is that wasn't his deal.
- 3:34That was not his deal. All of a sudden, it just got
- 3:37plopped right on his doorstep. So I don't even pay attention to
- 3:42that whole situation that happened at Talladega.
- 3:46I don't is I La, La La. It's like, man, he's the he's a
- 3:52one and only. You know, Bubba's the one and
- 3:54only. And all of a sudden the whole
- 3:57world turned on him and and hated him.
- 4:01I definitely did not like that. I did not like the angry mob
- 4:06coming at one man. Just imagine for a minute you
- 4:10being one person in life and an angry mob just coming at you
- 4:16when you're like, well, what the hell happened here?
- 4:18You know, you know, at the time everything went down at Teleday.
- 4:23He wasn't even at the racetrack. So that's all I'm going to say
- 4:27about that. So I met him at Cracker Barrel,
- 4:32thought he was a wonderful man. We we laughed, gave each other a
- 4:36hug over having the same last name.
- 4:38You know, I learned he was the real deal.
- 4:40And I think that's why Ryan Blaney and Danny and all them,
- 4:43you know, that it's like Rusty says, they got information that
- 4:46you all aren't Privy to. Bubba Wallace, a good race car
- 4:49driver and everybody always knew it.
- 4:53I knew that right away when he won a super late model race at
- 4:58Bristol. Hell, he won a truck race at
- 5:01Bristol. You can't win Bristol and not be
- 5:05a good driver. So Bubba Wallace has always been
- 5:08a good driver. Now I got to tell you his
- 5:12interview yesterday was incredible.
- 5:16How many days has it been since my last win?
- 5:19And boy, he he caught the whole damn TV people.
- 5:23They they were like, and he said zero.
- 5:27He them right there. He got them.
- 5:31How many days has it been since my last win?
- 5:33And they're like 010 Bitch, it was great.
- 5:40It was great. And now he's a multiple time
- 5:44NASCAR Cup winner at the highest level.
- 5:47And it's very clear that Michael Jordan has him mentally strong
- 5:54because, you know, you could tell that they were ready to
- 5:57interview him. They they asked him some good
- 5:59questions. And boy, he came out straight
- 6:03A's. If if that interview was going
- 6:07to be, you know, like going to school, he knocked it out of the
- 6:12ballpark. Well, what's his feel like?
- 6:15You know, does this, you know, does this make you forget all
- 6:18the hard times he goes? I've been winning the life man
- 6:21because I'm, you know, he's married, got that beautiful
- 6:24baby. That was a master class.
- 6:27What Bubba Wallace did yesterday.
- 6:28That was a master class in you do not control me.
- 6:34You do not get me. I win at life.
- 6:38So that's what I got to say about Bubba.
- 6:41Now, you can continue to hate on him, but I'm afraid to say he's
- 6:47part of that Michael Jordan, Denny Hanlon deal.
- 6:50The more you hate on him, the better he's going to do.
- 6:53He's learned to take that negative energy and use it as
- 6:57fuel, just like my Big Brother Rusty Wallace.
- 7:01Like I've told you in the past, as soon as you start talking
- 7:05about Rusty, you done up because now he's going to do better.
- 7:11One last thing about this with with social media, there's so
- 7:18much negative energy that the greats like me, we, we learn to
- 7:24use it for fuel with us and we will win because we know that it
- 7:30gets to you when we know it gets to you.
- 7:34See, they win. So when you pick on people,
- 7:40they're like, OK, I will you up now.
- 7:43That's the way it works nowadays, because this whole
- 7:46negative aura in life, everybody knows what I'm talking about
- 7:49that old negative aura in life. When you start booing people,
- 7:53they going to they going, they're going to get you and
- 7:55it's going to be one way or another.
- 7:58And Bubba, Bubba 1, he, he straight up 1 so harshly means
- 8:03he won. So good, so bad.
- 8:06Listen, when you line up side by side with what's considered the
- 8:11greatest racer of all time, multiple times, multiple
- 8:15restarts, OK, you might have got Kyle Larson this time.
- 8:18Let's see you do it again. Does it again and again.
- 8:24And I know you all were waiting for me to talk about Bubba this
- 8:27morning. So that's all I got for you.
- 8:30Congratulations, Bubba Wallace. I never want to be in your spot,
- 8:34buddy. You're a strong man.
- 8:36OK, It happened again yesterday, but boy, did I learn a lot.
- 8:42I was at the Saint Louis Cardinal baseball game with Doug
- 8:45and Missy Schoenfeld and my wife Kim had a wonderful time.
- 8:49Of course, you know, had my phone right there and that check
- 8:54up on the race because getting ready to do Herman Schrader here
- 8:58in a little bit and I wanted to know what was up.
- 9:01The game was over and I made a nice little post thanking Doug
- 9:06and Missy Schoenfeld. They gave us the tickets, said
- 9:11thank you to my childhood friend Doug Schoenfeld.
- 9:14And somebody responded, oh you had good a good time at the
- 9:19Cardinal Ball game with all 10 people.
- 9:23So it dawned on me, people even judge crowds at baseball games
- 9:30yesterday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
- 9:33Now listen, I know what I'm getting ready to say.
- 9:35What I'm going to say is a really smart ass comment, but
- 9:37you're just going to have to eat it because it's the truth.
- 9:40And I and not being mean, I'm just saying it.
- 9:46The longer you continue to go, oh, look, there's no people at
- 9:51the grandstands while you're not there, that that teaches you
- 9:57that NASCAR does not need you there.
- 10:00Now I see other comments section.
- 10:03I see it people get in arguments with other people and they're
- 10:07like, well, as Kenny Wallace says, they don't need us there.
- 10:11That's right. Now I say a little bit
- 10:15sarcastic, but because you keep trying to judge sports by people
- 10:20in the grandstands, I'm going to say something very provocative.
- 10:24Right now. We are in a new society.
- 10:27Sports is geared for TV because people don't enjoy and they
- 10:32don't have to go to the events anymore.
- 10:37So you ask yourself, if there's nobody in Indy, why do they keep
- 10:41going back? I know the answer because they
- 10:47don't need you at the grandstands.
- 10:48And I know you hate hearing that.
- 10:52You hate it because you think if, if there's no people in the
- 10:55grandstands, you're going to get a prize.
- 10:59Look, there's nobody in the grandstands.
- 11:01Well, number one, you're not there, but you're watching it on
- 11:04TV. Think about it.
- 11:07If you're saying, look, there's nobody in the grandstands, that
- 11:10means you're watching it on TV. So you paid and NASCAR got your
- 11:15money and you think they didn't, but you did.
- 11:19You paid to watch that TV. I was born in 1963.
- 11:27If we'd had ATV like that, we'd have stayed home too.
- 11:32Watched it right there. So I'm going to repeat myself.
- 11:37Sports nowadays is geared up for you to sit your ass at home and
- 11:42watch on TV. And I know I'm going to say it
- 11:46again because I know you're going to keep trying to get me.
- 11:48Sports is now geared up for you to watch it on TV.
- 11:54That's why NASCAR can keep going back to Indianapolis with only
- 12:0040,000 people in the grandstands.
- 12:03There's your answer guys. I don't know what else to tell
- 12:07you there, there. There will be a day where you
- 12:12quit going. Look, there's nobody in the
- 12:13grandstands. You will be learned.
- 12:17They will learn you and you will learn a lesson that we are in a
- 12:21new societal shift. Sports is now meant for big
- 12:26screen TV's. That's a damn 72 inch string.
- 12:29Look here, here's the ball game. There was, there was maybe
- 12:3720,000 people at the ball game yesterday and somebody said look
- 12:41nobody at nobody in the grandstands at Busch Stadium.
- 12:46I thought to myself, they say the same about all sports
- 12:49nowadays. So think about it.
- 12:53Think about it. How do they keep on going?
- 12:58TV money is big. Have a great, great money
- 13:04everybody.
