Transcript
- 0:00Thanks, Ed.
- 0:01Well, welcome in to another exciting episode of the scene.
- 0:03I'm your host, Bubba Sartz, and with me today is Josie Award winner, Jasmine Kane.
- 0:09Yes.
- 0:10Jasmine fucking Kane.
- 0:12Not all people know my middle name.
- 0:14I had to scream it out there.
- 0:16I wasn't gonna let it go unheard.
- 0:17Are not
- 0:18Did you really?
- 0:18Know you're damn right I did.
- 0:19Really?
- 0:20They might have to cut out your whole your whole word speech.
- 0:22You're gonna be the reason that our entire Yeah.
- 0:24Performance gets cut.
- 0:25Cut.
- 0:25Yep.
- 0:27Leave it up to me.
- 0:29Way to go,
- 0:29love.
- 0:29You needed to be you needed to be represented.
- 0:31They could probably turn off the crowd noise for that anyway.
- 0:34But wow.
- 0:36What a what a weekend.
- 0:37That was a that was crazy.
- 0:38It was a whirlwind.
- 0:39Honestly, all of our friends and stuff started flying starting, like, Wednesday this week.
- 0:44So we've had a house full
- 0:47Yeah.
- 0:47Of people just and the excitement from all of them is, like, it's it's so crazy.
- 0:51Like, it's hard not to get excited because all your friends are showing up, and they're more
- 0:55they're more excited than anybody.
- 0:56So Yeah.
- 0:56Because we've been moment for all of us.
- 0:58Right.
- 0:59Well, we've been on this journey forever and and I think that's what the most what I had
- 1:03what I enjoyed the most about this weekend was hearing everyone else tell me about, like,
- 1:08where we first met, how long they've been following this band, and our music, and, like,
- 1:13where we started out.
- 1:13Remember when you were
- 1:14broke down on the side of the road and
- 1:16this blah blah blah, and they talk about it, talk about it,
- 1:18then they're like Which time.
- 1:19Right?
- 1:20Right.
- 1:20And now you're standing on this stage like representing rock music and something that's
- 1:23Well, representing all of us.
- 1:25Right?
- 1:25Yeah.
- 1:25Yeah.
- 1:26That's how
- 1:26we feel.
- 1:26That's the way they And then like there's this is as much their win as it is mine.
- 1:31Yeah.
- 1:32You're damn right.
- 1:32We've all been invested in
- 1:34this why whole I applied for credentials in the first place.
- 1:36Was saying, Joe, this is only and even if you get nominated again and you get a chance to
- 1:40perform again, it will never be the first time again.
- 1:43Right.
- 1:43So important for me to at least throw my name out there to Tina Marie and to to Josie to say,
- 1:49hey.
- 1:50Are they not the best?
- 1:50There's
- 1:51connections to this.
- 1:52Great people.
- 1:52And I've got to I didn't even get to meet them at the show.
- 1:55Right?
- 1:55It's so busy, and this is their big moment that I hope now we get to have a relationship
- 1:59afterwards and get to talk more because I feel like we brought the scene projects brought
- 2:03value to their red carpet experience as well out there.
- 2:05Course.
- 2:05I know you didn't necessarily get to come through and do that.
- 2:07It was it was a huge line.
- 2:09Well, only that.
- 2:09An artist
- 2:10to interview.
- 2:11We were backstage because our sound check was earlier in the afternoon.
- 2:15So Right.
- 2:15We had to be there by, like, 02:00 to load in in the artist's entry.
- 2:19So that's on the backside of the building, and so there's no way for us to go around the
- 2:23building to the front and get in line for the media.
- 2:26Right.
- 2:26So we had And
- 2:27then stand out in the cold for three hours.
- 2:29Well, was it it wasn't even that bad.
- 2:31I don't think it's up.
- 2:32But it was it was a the biggest thing was there were just wasn't any time.
- 2:35Yeah.
- 2:35Because when we got there, we were the first sound check.
- 2:38And then from that moment on, we had our own interviews and things to do.
- 2:42They had additional interviews.
- 2:43I don't think anybody knew about Right.
- 2:45Or backstage.
- 2:46Right.
- 2:46And so the performers were doing stuff like that, and then, of course, we just have to get
- 2:51dressed and get ready because you go there in curlers and you know, you're coming, then you
- 2:55gotta get rest.
- 2:55I mean, your day started at, like, six, 7AM,
- 2:58didn't it?
- 2:58Right.
- 2:58Yeah.
- 2:58Yeah.
- 2:58After rocking out all night at Eastside Bowl, which that was so much fun.
- 3:02Shout out the bands that played that night just so we can
- 3:04capture that too.
- 3:05So we had some great music.
- 3:06I put that entire lineup together myself, and it was
- 3:09It was an awesome show.
- 3:10Thank you
- 3:10so much.
- 3:10Charlie Charlie Bonnet the third started out with a acoustic performance.
- 3:15He's Memphis music scene.
- 3:17He's old school cat that's been around for a long time.
- 3:20Did a great job.
- 3:21Amazing songwriter.
- 3:22He was actually nominated for, like, nine Jersey music awards.
- 3:25So he was there in the audience.
- 3:27And then Anthony Quarter is from Tora Tora.
- 3:30So, again, Memphis, eighties rock bands.
- 3:34It was a big scene in the in the late eighties, early nineties, and and Anthony was a huge part
- 3:39of that.
- 3:39And then came on to Nashville to actually be he went I'm trying to remember exactly what it was
- 3:45that he taught, but he taught, like, music business for one of the music schools here, the
- 3:50universities here in Nashville.
- 3:52So he's been heavily involved in the music industry his entire career.
- 3:56He did a thirty minute acoustic show as well.
- 3:59And then Jane and the Killer Queens
- 4:02They were awesome.
- 4:03She's she's just got a killer voice.
- 4:04Yeah.
- 4:05And pretty fresh to Nashville yet.
- 4:06I know she said it's been a few years, but as you know Yeah.
- 4:09It takes a little bit of time, especially as a rock band Right.
- 4:11To really get some roots down.
- 4:12I really wanted another female fronted another female vocalist on the on the bill because
- 4:17there's not a lot of female rock singers in this town.
- 4:20Like, there's there's a few, but, like, there's not a lot.
- 4:22And one that was just, like, so powerful and commanding on the stage, I'm like, that's
- 4:25that's my pick.
- 4:27So besides, we're really, really good friends with her guitarist, Diego.
- 4:30In fact, all of our lyric videos for this album, Attitude is Everything, he did every
- 4:36single one of those videos for us.
- 4:37He's our lyric video guy.
- 4:39After that was My Friend, The Ghost, and I wanted to bring them into the fold as well
- 4:43because they were our we they're our opening act for album release party here in Nashville
- 4:50for Attitude Is Everything.
- 4:52So this was just all tying this all together with the album and Yeah.
- 4:55Everything that was going into this weekend for the celebrations for this for the awards.
- 4:59And, of course, we were the final thing of the night, but we also had my my friend Amy that
- 5:04was out there with her dark arts.
- 5:06Did you get to see any of that?
- 5:07Oh, like, we have one of your prints on here.
- 5:10You did?
- 5:11This is
- 5:12And she told me about this.
- 5:13This is the I mean, this is George Jones' bus.
- 5:16So I I had to bring this home from the show because it we were tying it all together.
- 5:20Right?
- 5:21My gosh.
- 5:21So I had to get this and
- 5:23I showcase it here.
- 5:24That's her art.
- 5:25And she gave me a possum a picture of a possum as well.
- 5:29It's a sticker.
- 5:30And it says, hello.
- 5:31My name is because that's how I felt all week.
- 5:35So awesome.
- 5:36And then, of course, we had our friend, Shay.
- 5:38Yeah.
- 5:38Were face painting, and you got the Oh, yeah.
- 5:41Oh, I went for it.
- 5:41She and she painted my face in real time during a I
- 5:45got that all on video too.
- 5:46I don't know if we'll make it part of this interview and everything.
- 5:48We'll probably sneak in some shots of it, but that was pretty awesome.
- 5:51Know she was gonna do, like, my whole leg.
- 5:53She just went for it.
- 5:54She just Yeah.
- 5:54Always, like, put my face out.
- 5:56I'm trying to be really still, and then she just, drops down and goes all the way down
- 6:00my leg.
- 6:00I'm like, I
- 6:01didn't expect that.
- 6:04Yeah.
- 6:04So that face, like, just going home and washing my face after the show turned into a full
- 6:09shower experience
- 6:10because Yeah.
- 6:10She got
- 6:11me.
- 6:12She got me.
- 6:13But was it a great night, and I think everybody had a lot of fun.
- 6:15I had a great time.
- 6:16Had a great time.
- 6:17Such a cool
- 6:18A red venue.
- 6:19Yeah.
- 6:20Yeah.
- 6:20Red venue, I know that we were kind of in that front corner area, which I thought was so cool.
- 6:25It's what what it started at.
- 6:26Yeah.
- 6:27Was a diner.
- 6:27Yeah.
- 6:27Yeah.
- 6:28I thought they set it up really nice there with the, you know, the red drapes in the background
- 6:31on the say.
- 6:32It's got a really cool look and perfect for what we were trying to do.
- 6:34You weren't necessarily trying to throw a a 800 person venue.
- 6:38You know what I mean?
- 6:39And they had the big room, but it was more of a private show for your friends that you knew
- 6:42were coming into town.
- 6:43And if other people showed up in there, you know, God bless them and thanks for coming out.
- 6:47But it was really a private party, and it was you curating a night of your friend musicians
- 6:53around here for all of your friends that were coming in from out town.
- 6:56I thought it was perfectly lovely.
- 6:57I have a my friend the ghost t shirt
- 6:59now Dude.
- 7:00To take home and a piece of art and some awesome memories from shape hanging my face.
- 7:04I told them to find you because I was I mean, you coming here just provides them like a
- 7:08really unique experience to to gain more followers and fans from a different area that
- 7:14they wouldn't necessarily get to tour in.
- 7:16Well, I still have some connections back in the hill, you know, back in the hills around South
- 7:21Dakota now that maybe we can get them and they can join you up for rally and to come play some
- 7:25and
- 7:25You never know.
- 7:26You never to come out to mama's house and enjoy some home cooking out and to see where you're
- 7:30from.
- 7:30And I think it's important.
- 7:32I think it's important for people to to know the people behind the rock stars.
- 7:35Right?
- 7:36And I feel like you really brought that vibe to the whole night and
- 7:39I I personally, so I know that they're they're gonna do a great job and
- 7:43everyone in the room, you don't even remember signing the set list.
- 7:45So you probably barely
- 7:46remember the set list.
- 7:47The problem with that was like, I don't make set list.
- 7:49Like, I don't.
- 7:50We just kinda do like whatever comes to me.
- 7:53Just kinda yell it out and we just go for it.
- 7:55Right.
- 7:55But, like, Kevin was telling me, you need to make a set list.
- 7:58It needs to be, you know, this, this, and this.
- 8:01But a lot of the songs that he was trying to get me to do were cover songs.
- 8:05And I felt like we should be doing more original songs because we were there to promote
- 8:08our original music.
- 8:10And I thought you had a good mix though.
- 8:11I think it's important to still bring out the covers and especially the ones you did.
- 8:14And to really pair like iconic than with the Poker Face and Barracuda like you did because
- 8:20those are iconic songs.
- 8:22And not only that, they're they're kind of I mean, they're totally pop inspired.
- 8:26So Right.
- 8:26Now you're listening to the inspiration, the things that I was listening to when I created
- 8:31this music.
- 8:31So
- 8:32Did you get to choose what song you played at the Opry or did they Yes.
- 8:35Kinda choose for you?
- 8:36You can choose your song, but it has to be Approved.
- 8:39Yeah.
- 8:39Right.
- 8:40So and I had a really hard time choosing that song because ultimately, I wanted to do a huge
- 8:46power ballad that just got to that just would ring to the whole thing.
- 8:50I had this thing in my this image in my mind that was, like, gonna be this really powerful
- 8:56ballad moment where you're standing there and then you're just holding these really long
- 9:00notes out and they're just echoing through the halls and you're just like, it's it would be
- 9:04such a cool moment.
- 9:06And when I was talking to the Josie, like, the organizers, they said, we've decided to put
- 9:12your performance last because we really want you to bring that high energy thing to the very
- 9:16last thing of the day of the night.
- 9:18So I was like, well, there goes that ballad idea because if it if you want a high energy,
- 9:22like, impact song, then that's not what's gonna work for that.
- 9:26So I ended up changing my song choice to money.
- 9:30And the reason I chose that song is because it was actually on a previous album that we
- 9:33released called seven that we we let it go in 2019.
- 9:40And, of course, then COVID hit.
- 9:42And we had a little bit of trouble with the album anyway and who we got to help us with the
- 9:47release.
- 9:48He did a couple of mistakes, and it actually ended up getting flagged for fraud on Spotify.
- 9:54So that got me kicked off of any playlisting or anything that I could possibly ever do to get
- 9:59attention to that album from day one.
- 10:03And so the album
- 10:04So it just kinda got buried the world and the mistakes that were made in the release.
- 10:09Yes.
- 10:09I mean, it's easy now.
- 10:10You can make you could do everything right and still get yourself flagged and pulled off the
- 10:13platforms.
- 10:14It seems like these days.
- 10:15But
- 10:16But I was so bummed out because, like, we put two years of work into that record.
- 10:19Yeah.
- 10:20And some of the best songs I feel like we have ever written.
- 10:23And then and then we just watched it die, and then we we're like, oh, don't worry about the
- 10:26playlist thing.
- 10:27We'll just get out there and tour, and we'll sell the albums from the stage and people will
- 10:30really dig it, and then we weren't allowed to tour anymore.
- 10:33So I just died.
- 10:35I was like, there was a stack of them in my basement.
- 10:38I was looking at them every day as we were live streaming.
- 10:41Remaster or something.
- 10:42So what's gonna happen is we're we're
- 10:44getting ready to do a deluxe edition of that album, and we're gonna add some songs to it.
- 10:49Maybe even re sing some of the things I wasn't really happy with, but we've kinda ran out of
- 10:54time.
- 10:54And so I'm I wanna redo a couple of things, remix and master it, and then shoot it back out
- 10:59there.
- 10:59Money will be the first single that we release.
- 11:01Awesome.
- 11:02Because we never really got a chance to release it.
- 11:03So still some intention even though you changed your mind on what song because of their
- 11:07recommendations that there's still some intention behind what you were doing.
- 11:09That album was supposed to be my last full length album.
- 11:12I was like, it's seven.
- 11:13It's the pinnacle.
- 11:14That's the end.
- 11:16And and then I from this point on, I'll just release singles or whatever nothing Yeah.
- 11:19You know, major.
- 11:20But I released this, you know, this album and it just lays there and dies.
- 11:25And then I'm like, well, can't let that be my last album.
- 11:28So I
- 11:28was like, it I got I got depressed, and then I got mad, and then I got busy, and we wrote
- 11:35another album.
- 11:36And we released another album, but I'm not done with this one.
- 11:40Like, I still wanted to have its moment, and that was the first moment that it's gonna have
- 11:44right there on that stage at the opera.
- 11:46So Yeah.
- 11:47Yeah.
- 11:47Dare I say iconic.
- 11:49It it rocked the house.
- 11:52It it was so fun to just be there in the crowd and to to experience that moment with you.
- 11:58I mean, I've seen you perform at the Saloon Ten in Deadwood in that tiny room.
- 12:02I've seen you perform on some of the biggest stages in Surges, and to I it's always the same
- 12:06show, and that's kinda what I told everyone.
- 12:08And it it was the same at Eastside Bowl that it wasn't there.
- 12:11I've it's always been Jasmine, Kane, and the energy has always been the same.
- 12:15It's just a matter of where you put where you put it.
- 12:17Right?
- 12:17And the settings that you put it in.
- 12:19And I felt like it was just as at home on the Opry stage as it was at any of the bike rallies
- 12:23that you've done over the years.
- 12:24I don't the other
- 12:25stages that you've done.
- 12:26It was just it was perfect.
- 12:29I don't think I had the time to really consider how I felt about being on the stage, like,
- 12:34during that performance.
- 12:35Right.
- 12:35Because it's such chaos backstage that I was changing clothes, they were they were supposed
- 12:41to send someone to let us know that our performance was up.
- 12:43They didn't.
- 12:44So we were, you know, rushed in between the awards that we were nominated for, and you have
- 12:48to be back there waiting in case your name is called so you can get out there quickly.
- 12:51And, the one of the awards we were nominated for was right before our performance.
- 12:56So I'm there in the dress and now I gotta get out of the dress and I gotta get in the other
- 12:59performance dress and they're suddenly, the guy is standing there going like, we gotta go.
- 13:04And I'm still trying to put on my clothes and run out the door.
- 13:07So it was really chaotic.
- 13:10But so I didn't
- 13:10really that's fitting.
- 13:12Absolutely.
- 13:13That's Yeah.
- 13:13Absolutely.
- 13:14But I was
- 13:15How our life has always been from show to show and especially when you're doing like, you
- 13:18know, especially Sturgis.
- 13:20Right.
- 13:20Where sometimes I know you've probably played three, four shows in a single day and running
- 13:24around and
- 13:24I hope I do.
- 13:25Through traffic and yeah.
- 13:27I think we're smart enough to know better now.
- 13:28Right?
- 13:29Yeah.
- 13:30But at least we can say we did it.
- 13:31But there's you know, the the moment that I got to have on that stage was actually during the
- 13:36soundcheck because we were the first ones to soundcheck, so we got to stand there and really
- 13:39take it all in.
- 13:40They gave us thirty minutes to soundcheck.
- 13:42We were done in eleven.
- 13:43So the rest of it was just our time to hang on the
- 13:45Real pros.
- 13:48Get it done.
- 13:48Gotta get it done.
- 13:49It was great.
- 13:50I ran into Taylor at Waffle House later in the night
- 13:53as well.
- 13:54Funny.
- 13:54I'm like, what is he doing at a Waffle House?
- 13:56It was the only place open to eat at at at 1AM.
- 13:59Yeah.
- 13:59And we had come back to the bus with another winner.
- 14:02Shout out to shout out to Rudy Gunn.
- 14:05And we came back and we were hanging out.
- 14:07Was like, well, where are we gonna go to eat?
- 14:08We hopped in with them and, yeah, in in walks Taylor when we're about done with our meal.
- 14:12Did you see a jacket he made?
- 14:14Oh, yeah.
- 14:15Yep.
- 14:15Incredible.
- 14:16Very proud
- 14:16of that jacket.
- 14:17As you should be and as you all should be about, you know, your performance and the
- 14:22recognition of the award, and it it was a long time coming for you.
- 14:26Yeah.
- 14:26And I know you don't do it for awards.
- 14:27You've never done it for that.
- 14:28You've done it for the connection with your fans.
- 14:30A 100%.
- 14:31And that's really why Saturday night, I'm sure, was, like, the most important part of the
- 14:34weekend for you Yeah.
- 14:35Even on top of the Opry appearances and
- 14:37the performance.
- 14:38I mean, I was sitting back there backstage, and I'm texting, like, the people that I I knew
- 14:42most of the people that were nominated and won.
- 14:45And so I'm texting them, like, yo, congratulations, you know.
- 14:47So I was staying in touch with everybody even from backstage, but we never came out front.
- 14:52We didn't come out front for anything because we actually, we gave our seats away because we
- 14:57were we were gonna have to be backstage the
- 14:59whole time.
- 14:59Right.
- 14:59I never really got to see what it looked like from the front.
- 15:02I assume that I'm gonna check all that out
- 15:04with Yeah.
- 15:04I was gonna say all your fans got plenty of footage of any time you were stepping on the
- 15:08stage.
- 15:08I even got some footage of Kevin running around like a chicken with his head cut off as you
- 15:12guys were getting ready to go out there and and doing his thing.
- 15:15So it was was just cool.
- 15:16It was so cool for me to you know, it may be as close as I ever get to that stage.
- 15:22Right?
- 15:22And I'm not saying that I won't apply for submissions,
- 15:24but Yeah.
- 15:24Yeah.
- 15:2586,000 submissions this year.
- 15:27Yeah.
- 15:2786,000 submissions and No.
- 15:29And anyone can submit independent musicians.
- 15:31Yeah.
- 15:32I think they start submissions, like, what do they say in April?
- 15:37April,
- 15:37I And it takes them probably up until the last minute.
- 15:39It feels like to get through
- 15:41all of them and
- 15:42do the voting.
- 15:43Yeah.
- 15:43We have a whole team of people that are listening to this and and categorizing it and
- 15:46nominating.
- 15:47And that's what I like as opposed to maybe some other award shows and ones that I'm a part of
- 15:52where at the Midwest Country Music Organization are the members vote.
- 15:56And I know most of the members, and we know each other in that.
- 15:58So so sometimes it can become a, you know, who do you know over what the song specifically is.
- 16:03Right?
- 16:03Yeah.
- 16:03Absolutely.
- 16:04It can reflect that.
- 16:05And not that there's any problem with that style of voting either, but this one, it really
- 16:09felt like, no.
- 16:10There's a panel that take their job very seriously as far as tuning into and and
- 16:16listening to each song and comparing them against one another then do a consensus
- 16:21new thing with the Josie's that I'm so grateful for is that it's now open to more genres.
- 16:26It was pretty much just a country music thing for a long time, which that's their primary
- 16:31focus was country, Americana, bluegrass, but and songwriting specifically.
- 16:37But now it's kind of opened up to more genres, and and that includes us, and that's great.
- 16:42So I can finally I can be a part of this now.
- 16:44Yeah.
- 16:45Well, I think you're gonna be a big part of all of what they do Yeah.
- 16:47For many years to come at this point.
- 16:50And I hope so too.
- 16:51I do you notice the fragrance in this room?
- 16:54It's a you, the Jasmine Kane in here.
- 16:56Is that what you did?
- 16:58What?
- 16:59Is that
- 16:59what you're burning?
- 16:59Yeah.
- 17:00Incense from midnight?
- 17:02Yep.
- 17:02Oh my god.
- 17:03I wondered because I was like, that smells she gave me a bunch of those.
- 17:06I'm like, that smells like her incense.
- 17:08So Amy's Yeah.
- 17:09Well, otherwise, it would smell like a tour bus, and two dudes have been living on this for
- 17:12the last
- 17:13You don't have to tell me what that smells like.
- 17:14I know all about that.
- 17:16The yeah.
- 17:17This fragrance is just called coming in hot.
- 17:19Yeah.
- 17:19I thought she's like, it is what does it say?
- 17:21Just burn and shit.
- 17:22There's or something like that.
- 17:23Yeah.
- 17:23Something like that.
- 17:24I don't know the the the package is right there.
- 17:27She knows how I the burn stuff.
- 17:28Full effect.
- 17:29Pretty much my entire house remodel was just me taking random furniture and things out of my
- 17:33house and burning it in my backyard.
- 17:35You have to pay to throw it away.
- 17:36Right.
- 17:37So
- 17:37I just burn
- 17:38it.
- 17:38Yeah.
- 17:38Well, you do what you would do on the ranch.
- 17:40Right?
- 17:40Yeah.
- 17:40Just burn it.
- 17:41Throw it in a hole.
- 17:42It's very yeah, it's very satisfying.
- 17:45Just light it on fire.
- 17:46Yeah.
- 17:47And I I mean, now that I feel like this is such a pinnacle of your career now.
- 17:52Right?
- 17:52You you've you've had such a long storied career of playing all of these, you know, these
- 17:58crazy biker bars and these festivals and all the stuff that you do when you go on tour with
- 18:03the the tiki tour and then, you know Oh, they're getting down
- 18:06and doing
- 18:07your solo your solo gigs and everything, which are obviously a much different show than the
- 18:11full rock show when you have PK and Taylor with you.
- 18:13Yeah.
- 18:13But do you feel like there's going to be a shift now with winning the award and so many
- 18:19people seeing you?
- 18:20Do you hope that this catapults you into maybe starting to be able to book maybe some theaters
- 18:25and to bring this show a little bit different vibe now?
- 18:27That would be great.
- 18:28I think that it's already made a bunch of connections with I'm already starting to get
- 18:33offers of things like joining for songwriter rounds and songwriting collaborations and all
- 18:39kinds of different things.
- 18:40Of course, the people that I regularly work with, all the venues and stuff that I play year
- 18:45round or different events and stuff, I've already reached out and shared, like, their
- 18:50excitement about this award and trying to get me on the books for the next year.
- 18:54So I think it's gonna grow, and I think, honestly, it's gonna make us we can be a little
- 18:58bit more we can be a little pickier on what we choose to do.
- 19:04So, you know, when you start out, you've got you know, you're just happy for whatever gig
- 19:08you can get.
- 19:08Anything you can do, you're doing it.
- 19:10And then you get to where you can kinda start to fine tune what it is that you really wanna
- 19:14do, and you can start to cherry pick those things that are gonna get you there.
- 19:17And I think this is one of those things that's gonna help me get there.
- 19:20So ultimately, yes, we wanna showcase all of our original music.
- 19:24We would love to be able to do theaters and and that, you know, but it's it's hard to get on
- 19:29that circuit and be part of something independently because they don't wanna they
- 19:34don't wanna hire you as an independent.
- 19:35You have to have a booking agency.
- 19:36You have to have management or somebody that's legit behind you.
- 19:40And I think probably the most asked question I got from everybody backstage, the other artists
- 19:44that were back there mingling was, who does your PR?
- 19:47Who does your bookings?
- 19:49Who are you working with?
- 19:50Because we wanna get on that same thing with you.
- 19:51And I'm like
- 19:52You're looking at her.
- 19:53Everything that I have here, I built from the ground up.
- 19:56So I made these connections myself one on one.
- 19:58I booked these gigs from twenty years now.
- 20:01So all these connections are things that I built.
- 20:03And that's hard because I'm a I'm in a really strange hybrid situation where I can't get into
- 20:11those theaters because a lot of the shows that I do rallies, whatnot, as you know, they're
- 20:15free shows.
- 20:16People can come and watch.
- 20:17Right.
- 20:17So that I can't prove what my ticket sales would be.
- 20:20So that's a strike against me because I even though I know that I'm really popular in that
- 20:25area, I can't prove that to anyone because I don't have ticket sales.
- 20:28History of ticket sales.
- 20:30Right.
- 20:30Right.
- 20:30I don't have that data.
- 20:31Start out
- 20:32on that.
- 20:32How do you start out on that?
- 20:33How do you get into that?
- 20:34And Yeah.
- 20:35And that's really difficult.
- 20:36Well, you go win a couple of Josie Awards and you perform at the Grand Ole Opry, and then you
- 20:40take it from there.
- 20:41That's a good start.
- 20:41Right?
- 20:41Yeah.
- 20:42Okay.
- 20:42Well, let's start there.
- 20:43We start there.
- 20:44Well, and that's why I guess it's like, you know, this isn't the end.
- 20:48This is the beginning of a new chapter in your career.
- 20:50And and you you mentioned when you just start out that you're kinda just starting out now
- 20:55again with this award on the mantle and with this new kind of I call it a superpower.
- 21:00Having never won anything in my life up until last April when I won the content creator of
- 21:05the year award Yeah.
- 21:06I see how much differently people look at
- 21:07me now.
- 21:07Was getting ready to call this.
- 21:09I knew that.
- 21:09I was getting I was ready to, like, that's not true.
- 21:11I'm really it's not that I care about it.
- 21:15It's not like I go up.
- 21:16Well, I'm the content creator of the year.
- 21:17But when you're talking to people and you're trying to book gigs or you're trying to get
- 21:20into this or that.
- 21:21I mean, I covered PGA tour events this year.
- 21:23I covered Kig Rocks Festival, Rock the Country.
- 21:25Yeah.
- 21:25And and it's it it elevated me above, well, I have this podcast.
- 21:29Right.
- 21:30Right?
- 21:30Well, so now this podcast actually somebody else said it's worth a shit.
- 21:33Right?
- 21:33And maybe it was just all my friends who I interviewed on my show that got me that.
- 21:38Right?
- 21:38But people aren't asking about that.
- 21:40Yeah.
- 21:40You're very aggressive for Jazzerkin.
- 21:42Right.
- 21:42It's project.
- 21:43It's worth a shit.
- 21:44Yeah.
- 21:44There you go.
- 21:45Thank you.
- 21:46Thank you.
- 21:49But it's, you
- 21:50know, now
- 21:50that Josie C award is going to mean something.
- 21:53That is very hard.
- 21:54It is hard.
- 21:55I will I will testify that that is very hard to get in for media with them because I had a lot
- 22:00of other people try to do that and wanna do that.
- 22:03They submitted and they were turned down.
- 22:06Small, smaller newspapers and things of that nature.
- 22:08So it's it's actually quite an accomplishment to become part of that media
- 22:12Well, thank you.
- 22:13Yeah.
- 22:13Thank you.
- 22:13I appreciate the recognition of that.
- 22:15And I mean, this is my first time in Nashville.
- 22:17Right?
- 22:18I'm rolling down here in George Jones' tour bus.
- 22:20Your first time in
- 22:21Nashville ever?
- 22:22And I'm working the red carpet at the Opry.
- 22:23I think I did my first time right.
- 22:25Oh my goodness.
- 22:26But it doesn't happen without you.
- 22:28It doesn't happen without you, Jasmine.
- 22:29It it doesn't it doesn't become all of this without seeing
- 22:33one of still happen without
- 22:34favorite bands.
- 22:36But I don't even apply if your name's not on it.
- 22:38I had some other friends that were nominated in those and friends that I was like, oh, good for
- 22:42you.
- 22:42But
- 22:43There was a lot of South Dakota people there.
- 22:44Well, and, you know, Jessica Lugby, a good friend that she's become a lot of Midwest CMO.
- 22:49We had over 20 members
- 22:50Yep.
- 22:50That were nominated as well.
- 22:52But none of them meant to me what you mean to me.
- 22:54I I I've spent twenty years following your career or more.
- 22:57And, you know, I've I've
- 22:59been watching you since I was
- 23:00it is my dad's fault.
- 23:02Your dad's fault.
- 23:02Well, my dad's been in love with you since the first time he saw you perform.
- 23:05I don't know if it was in Dirty Nellies or where it was at.
- 23:07It could have been our it probably was.
- 23:10That bar was already closed down before I ever made it down into Deadwood.
- 23:14But, you know, seeing you at the number 10, seeing you perform with, you know, the lead
- 23:18singer of collective soul, Ed Rowland That
- 23:20was crazy.
- 23:21That was a wild night.
- 23:22Well, signed an autograph on his back that night.
- 23:24Someone had a Deadwood Jam poster, and it was a year that we performed.
- 23:27So I was like, oh, do you want me to sign that?
- 23:28Hey.
- 23:29Excuse me, sir.
- 23:29Can I use your back
- 23:30real quick?
- 23:31Played the Deadwood Jam.
- 23:32Really?
- 23:33Never.
- 23:33Well, you know what?
- 23:34Deadwood Jam board, let this be a lesson to you.
- 23:36This girl's an award winning rock artist now.
- 23:39You better get on it, guys.
- 23:40And the time is never hotter.
- 23:42But, yeah, now you're gonna have to come as a headliner.
- 23:44Okay.
- 23:44Right?
- 23:45You're gonna have to be that Friday night headliner and return home.
- 23:48They just had Vince Converse on, which I'm sure you do.
- 23:49I know Vince.
- 23:50Fooled around with Vince back in the day, and Yeah.
- 23:53Sure.
- 23:53They had him back, and it was a real big return to him.
- 23:55A lot of people that have been around Deadwood for a long time to see one of our own, right,
- 24:01come back and to grace the stage and to rock the house was huge, and that's why I had to be
- 24:05here.
- 24:05I was gonna move heaven and earth to get to Nashville, and I think we we did that.
- 24:09And to come in now and to have it be over is kinda it's gonna take a long time to absorb all
- 24:14this, don't you think?
- 24:15Oh, yeah.
- 24:16I haven't even started.
- 24:17I haven't even tried.
- 24:18I'm just we're still just kinda, like, coming off the high of it, and we're and it's gonna
- 24:22take me a while to go through everything and, like, really take it all in.
- 24:27There's still, like, photos pouring in and videos pouring in from everybody that was there
- 24:30that's sending me that.
- 24:32My my email inbox is, like, crammed with stuff right now.
- 24:36This is gonna take a long time.
- 24:37I haven't posted anything yet.
- 24:38Like, I'm still doing it.
- 24:39I'm still busy.
- 24:40I've done four or five interviews today.
- 24:42I kinda felt bad because I oh, you know, I wanted to just kinda take some time.
- 24:46My parents are here from South Dakota, and we're and we're just kinda taking all this in
- 24:50together and just enjoying our time together.
- 24:52And I'm I feel bad because I haven't really even posted anything either.
- 24:55Somebody actually reached out today and said, so did you win an award?
- 24:59I'm like, did I not did I not post anything about that yet?
- 25:02Like, oh, I so I had to go in and post the pictures, you know?
- 25:05Oh, yeah.
- 25:06By the way, guys, we had a pretty big night.
- 25:09I I didn't even realize, but I didn't it didn't register to me until after I was over, and then
- 25:13I thought, oh, my gosh.
- 25:14I don't even think I told people.
- 25:15But I figured, like, it was out there enough, like, they wanted to find out they were gonna
- 25:19see it.
- 25:19Right.
- 25:19We're tagged everything.
- 25:20That speaks to social media a lot too.
- 25:22Like, you know, you get a message three weeks later that's like, oh, wait.
- 25:25Congratulations.
- 25:26You know, like, okay.
- 25:27Yeah.
- 25:27It's kind of old news to me now.
- 25:28But it's like, when you really give a, like, a flyer, like, a poster, like, Jasmine Cade
- 25:34performing at the Josie Music Awards at 10PM.
- 25:40And here's the address, Nashville, Tennessee.
- 25:42And then you the first message on there is like, oh, this is cool.
- 25:45Where are you performing?
- 25:46Yeah.
- 25:47And it's all on this bar.
- 25:48Like, that's it.
- 25:49Know.
- 25:49I've left plenty of information off like, oh, what day is this on?
- 25:53And I look at it, I'm like, oh
- 25:54my god.
- 25:54That's funny.
- 25:56I've put out a 100 of these already or I've blasted out.
- 25:59Paid a $100 to promote this on Facebook, and it doesn't have some pertinent information on it.
- 26:04Oops.
- 26:04God, somebody help us.
- 26:06Can we get some management here?
- 26:08I don't want it.
- 26:09Not at this point.
- 26:09Right?
- 26:10It can't be managed.
- 26:10You've gotten this far on your own.
- 26:12How would you ever wanna give away any of that control?
- 26:15Honestly, management would be great because you it just opens up I can actually do what it is
- 26:19I'm supposed to be doing, which is creating.
- 26:21Right.
- 26:21When I'm doing all the rest of this stuff, it's just taking me away from what I have.
- 26:25And I have to be very I have to put a very specific time up away just to be able to, like,
- 26:31be creative because day to day stuff just takes up all my time.
- 26:35So it would be great to have management, actually.
- 26:37Yeah.
- 26:37Well, in management, who gives a shit?
- 26:39I think that's important.
- 26:40That that wants to align with what you're doing and not just looking to kinda take advantage of
- 26:44it too.
- 26:44Work harder for you than you.
- 26:45So it's it's hard to find somebody like that.
- 26:48Yeah.
- 26:48For sure.
- 26:49And you you just need a really good booking agent is what you need.
- 26:52A really good booking agent that can you into
- 26:54the doors that
- 26:55are still closed.
- 26:56And, yeah, lots of sponsors.
- 26:57Hey.
- 26:58She's open, and the time is now because the price is going up.
- 27:012026.
- 27:03That's what we're looking for by
- 27:04next year.
- 27:04Well, Jasmine, I know you got your parents here in the studio.
- 27:07There's a boot sale.
- 27:08So we
- 27:09Oh, you better get into the mall and get her done.
- 27:11Boots.
- 27:11Yeah.
- 27:12Did you get some?
- 27:13I didn't.
- 27:13I didn't.
- 27:14That's why I'm rocking my old boots.
- 27:15Wanna go?
- 27:15I do wanna go.
- 27:16Okay.
- 27:16Let's go get some boots.
- 27:17Alright.
- 27:17Well, we're gonna go get some boots.
- 27:19Jasmine, tell them where they can find you online and everything and where they can find
- 27:22all your is under jasminekayne.com.

- 27:40What else?
- 27:40Some Patreon page I do. That
- 27:42That I'm a member of.
- 27:43Yes.
- 27:44You
- 27:45are a member of my team.
- 27:46Heck yeah.
- 27:47Well, I can't wait to all
- 27:48these pictures.
- 27:48Didn't think I knew you were doing the Josie's.
- 27:50Right?
- 27:52Well
- 27:53Patreon is a great thing for us.
- 27:54It's a crowd funding it's, like, as little as a dollar a month.
- 27:58You can join, and we just give you, like, all the inside information of everything we're
- 28:02doing.
- 28:02So behind the scenes footage, you know, you're gonna get a bunch of that.
- 28:07Like, I'm gonna be uploading a ton of stuff from the dressing room that we were in.
- 28:10Yeah.
- 28:11Things that you're never gonna see anywhere else.
- 28:13No.
- 28:13Because just gonna get buried in the AI slop of the social
- 28:16media world anyway.
- 28:17Share everything all the time.
- 28:18Right.
- 28:18Because it's just it's too much.
- 28:20So, you know, we pick out that one great photo and we put it on Facebook and say, hey, we're
- 28:25here.
- 28:25We did it.
- 28:26It's been great.
- 28:26And then, you know, on Patreon, you've got us doing warm ups or, you know, getting ready or
- 28:34hilariously playing Pantheon.
- 28:36The shows are great.
- 28:37Wait till you see all the fun we're having besides that.
- 28:39We are.
- 28:39On stage.
- 28:40We're having more fun than anyone else stage.
- 28:42My bet.
- 28:43That we had to shut the door because we're so loud, and and everybody was just kind of
- 28:47gathering outside our room.
- 28:49Like, we'd open the door to go out and get somebody to go use the restroom or something,
- 28:52and there was just, like, 20 people standing outside our door because it was the fun place
- 28:56to hang out.
- 28:56It's fun.
- 28:57Not surprising at all.
- 28:58Well, let's go buy some boots.
- 29:00Everyone, that's Jasmine Kane.
- 29:02This has been the Scene Projects on the bus here in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 29:07Josie award winner, Jazmine Kane.
- 29:09Yes.
- 29:12I just adore you.
- 29:13Thank you so much for doing this.
- 29:14Absolutely.
- 29:15Thank you.
