- 0:38Cynthia Lopez: I was like that's the way we're on the side of the road.
- 0:41Carmen Lezeth: I was like just make sure you drop off somewhere, you know.
- 0:43Carmen Lezeth: But she responded and she was laughing.
- 0:48Carmen Lezeth: She's like I've been school, it was just funny.
- 0:49Carmen Lezeth: So, Mario, I think you're hot, and I don't mean caliente like you're beautiful, though that too but I mean your.

- 0:59Maurio Dawson: I speak in the middle of the tone.
- 1:00Rick Costa: We're going to be Bob Ross today, painting a painting, talking very softly.
- 1:04Maurio Dawson: Yes, please, we're going to be ocean, as I paint waves as we go to the beach, and then we paint the sickle monsters, happy trees.

- 1:23Maurio Dawson: I thought the Oscars was on there.
- 1:24Maurio Dawson: I thought about Charlie, I thought about tic-tac and he's supposed to be like.
- 1:29Carmen Lezeth: Hey, carmen, what do you mean?
- 1:30Carmen Lezeth: A list?
- 1:31Carmen Lezeth: Let's just go with the flow.
- 1:31Carmen Lezeth: You know what let's talk about Charlie's podcast.
- 1:35Maurio Dawson: Let's talk about Charlie's podcast.
- 1:36Maurio Dawson: What do you think?
- 1:37Carmen Lezeth: Let's be like spontaneous and like I'm such a cool host and you guys are all like.
- 1:41Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 1:42Carmen Lezeth: That's our thing, man All of us.
- 1:44Carmen Lezeth: That's it now Okay, did you guys watch the Oscars?
- 1:49Rick Costa: Yes, I just saw the highlights on the ABC website.
- 1:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, I'm just going to be like, let me just take you off of here and I'm just going to be removed.
- 1:58Cynthia Lopez: Swipe to the.
- 1:59Cynthia Lopez: It was good.
- 1:59Cynthia Lopez: It was good, I liked it.
- 2:00Cynthia Lopez: They were.
- 2:01Cynthia Lopez: There were actually a couple of good moments.
- 2:03Carmen Lezeth: You thought there were only a couple of good moments, yeah.
- 2:06Cynthia Lopez: I mean, it wasn't, like you know, a big hoopla, but you know it was good.
- 2:12Maurio Dawson: Honestly, I got to say it was predictable.
- 2:13Maurio Dawson: The only thing that threw me off was Emma Stone.
- 2:15Maurio Dawson: Everything else.
- 2:16Maurio Dawson: I was surprised because the young lady from killers out of the moon.
- 2:22Maurio Dawson: She had been winning everything, including the SAG, and normally the person, the people who win SAG are normally the ones who go on to win the Oscar because the same people are voting in both categories.
- 2:32Maurio Dawson: So I was just.
- 2:34Maurio Dawson: I was surprised by Emma Stone.
- 2:35Maurio Dawson: She was a dark horse that came out of nowhere.
- 2:39Rick Costa: So other than that, I don't need to see John Cena naked again.
- 2:44Carmen Lezeth: I love that.
- 2:45Carmen Lezeth: I was laughing.
- 2:45Carmen Lezeth: I thought that was such a funny cause.
- 2:47Carmen Lezeth: It was about costume.
- 2:48Carmen Lezeth: That was the whole thing.
- 2:49Rick Costa: Yeah, I mean, do we need to talk about somebody's penis Like, come on, what's penis?
- 2:56Andrea Nunez: What.
- 2:57Rick Costa: Iron man.
- 2:57Rick Costa: Did they talk about his?
- 2:58Maurio Dawson: penis.
- 2:59Maurio Dawson: I missed that, robert Downey Jr who.
- 3:02Rick Costa: They talked about his penis.
- 3:04Rick Costa: What's the guy that hosted his name.
- 3:04Rick Costa: His name is I'm a.
- 3:05Rick Costa: What are you?
- 3:07Carmen Lezeth: talking about Okay, did you watch the I-Mate?
- 3:10Rick Costa: I went on the website and they said here's video highlights.
- 3:13Rick Costa: And one of the things he said was something about his thing.
- 3:15Rick Costa: And I'm like bro, that's no, no.
- 3:18Carmen Lezeth: Okay, wait.
- 3:19Carmen Lezeth: This is why you should watch things from the beginning.
- 3:21Rick Costa: This is not hearsay.
- 3:22Rick Costa: I saw him say it.
- 3:23Carmen Lezeth: I know what you're talking about, but what I'm saying is you're taking it out of context.
- 3:26Carmen Lezeth: That's the problem.
- 3:27Carmen Lezeth: It's still there.
- 3:27Carmen Lezeth: Robert Downey Jr was sitting in the front row.
- 3:29Carmen Lezeth: That's what you're talking about, the monologue.
- 3:31Carmen Lezeth: Look, you know I'm going to get mad because this.
- 3:33Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 3:33Carmen Lezeth: This is.
- 3:34Carmen Lezeth: What's wrong with our country?
- 3:35Carmen Lezeth: This is the same shit.
- 3:37Rick Costa: We need to talk about.
- 3:37Rick Costa: Penis is freely.
- 3:38Rick Costa: Is that what's wrong?
- 3:39Carmen Lezeth: I was talking about his penis.
- 3:40Carmen Lezeth: He just made a joke and maybe it landed wrong, but it wasn't like the end of the world.
- 3:45Carmen Lezeth: All he said was something about like I forget what it was, but it wasn't big deal and they moved on.
- 3:49Carmen Lezeth: I actually thought the more insulting part was talking about his drug abuse.
- 3:52Carmen Lezeth: So you can't take it out of context, like I mean, it's just a joke.
- 3:57Maurio Dawson: Yeah, that was kind of a low blow for Kimmel.
- 3:59Maurio Dawson: It was low hanging fruit, it was not necessary, you know get it done without it.
- 4:06Carmen Lezeth: It was just oh my God, I get annoyed.
- 4:08Rick Costa: I just felt bad for him.
- 4:09Rick Costa: Why Do?
- 4:12Maurio Dawson: you get annoyed about penis or you get annoyed about it.
- 4:14Rick Costa: Oh my God, it's still going left.
- 4:16Carmen Lezeth: I get annoyed because, because, because what Rick did?
- 4:21Carmen Lezeth: I know a lot of people do it.
- 4:23Carmen Lezeth: We don't want to or we don't have time or whatever, to maybe watch the whole thing or look at all in contact Right.
- 4:31Carmen Lezeth: So, we'll we'll watch the highlight but this happens with articles all the time.
- 4:33Carmen Lezeth: Like people will read like one headline and then you'll see all the comments.
- 4:36Carmen Lezeth: I can't believe she did that.
- 4:38Carmen Lezeth: What a bitch.
- 4:39Carmen Lezeth: How about did you read the article?
- 4:40Carmen Lezeth: Because it was not even about her Like.
- 4:43Carmen Lezeth: So I just get.
- 4:44Carmen Lezeth: I do get incensed.
- 4:46Carmen Lezeth: Was it a bad low hanging fruit?
- 4:48Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but that's not the whole Oscars and you tie that in.
- 4:51Carmen Lezeth: So you watch snippets.
- 4:52Carmen Lezeth: So you watch a P.
- 4:53Carmen Lezeth: You heard a penis joke.
- 4:54Rick Costa: It was like 13 minutes of him talking with 13 minutes of him talking about hey Tony.
- 4:58Rick Costa: Hey, tony hey.
- 5:01Carmen Lezeth: Tony hey, tony hey.
- 5:03Carmen Lezeth: Andrea, andrea, who dumped her daughter somewhere with nobody.
- 5:07Carmen Lezeth: She drove, carmen.
- 5:09Carmen Lezeth: What is she like?
- 5:15Carmen Lezeth: Eight Cause I am not that old for her to be driving.
- 5:18Carmen Lezeth: What's happening?
- 5:18Carmen Lezeth: How you doing?
- 5:19Carmen Lezeth: We're fighting right now.
- 5:20Carmen Lezeth: I'm fighting with Rick.
- 5:21Carmen Lezeth: We're talking about penises, context.
- 5:24Carmen Lezeth: Did we not just say context?
- 5:25Carmen Lezeth: Welcome to all about the joy.
- 5:34Andrea Nunez: I'm an expert.
- 5:35Andrea Nunez: I'm an expert.
- 5:40Carmen Lezeth: Today we're talking about joy oh you're fall to you.
- 5:42Carmen Lezeth: You brought penises.
- 5:42Carmen Lezeth: Rick is going to be like Carmen.
- 5:46Carmen Lezeth: I want to hand in my resignation.
- 5:47Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to close what?
- 5:48Carmen Lezeth: Let me just say I didn't even really know who John Cena was till.
- 5:52Andrea Nunez: I was that bit, so that worked for me.
- 5:53Andrea Nunez: But Rick.
- 5:55Carmen Lezeth: I could see how you maybe heard that piece and then saw the John Cena thing and that, let me just say the best part is my gosh Ling singing.
- 6:05Carmen Lezeth: I had no idea, unbelievable.
- 6:09Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, did you guys?
- 6:10Carmen Lezeth: Okay, living on fact, he used to sing in the.
- 6:14Maurio Dawson: Mickey mouse club back in the day with Justin Timberlake.
- 6:16Maurio Dawson: No, I didn't.
- 6:16Maurio Dawson: I didn't know that.
- 6:17Maurio Dawson: I didn't know that.
- 6:18Maurio Dawson: I didn't know that.
- 6:19Maurio Dawson: I didn't know that.
- 6:20Maurio Dawson: No, I didn't either.
- 6:22Maurio Dawson: No, I didn't know.
- 6:24Maurio Dawson: That wakes me up.
- 6:25Maurio Dawson: That was my.
- 6:25Maurio Dawson: My car didn't even appear because I had no idea Even for one day.
- 6:28Maurio Dawson: Mark full あああああ, didn't even realize that All I did From the way he was singing and the way he was singing with Justin Timberlake, with Justin Timberlake, christina Aguilera.
- 6:46Andrea Nunez: All of the Britney spirits.
- 6:48Carmen Lezeth: He was in that whole crew before that Oscars is.
- 6:50Carmen Lezeth: They are too long, I fell asleep.
- 6:52Andrea Nunez: Well, they started it early, you know they started at four o'clock.
- 6:55Carmen Lezeth: For that reason.
- 6:56Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 6:57Carmen Lezeth: It was just a fun time.
- 6:58Carmen Lezeth: So, interate, did you watch Oscars?
- 6:59Carmen Lezeth: I think not, right.
- 7:01Andrea Nunez: No, I was on a plane, but I did.
- 7:04Rick Costa: I actually did.
- 7:05Andrea Nunez: I did catch the Ryan Gosling thing, though like that was like right when I walked into my hotel room so I kind of watched, but not really I was super tired.
- 7:13Andrea Nunez: So I don't have anything to add to this other than it was fun.
- 7:17Carmen Lezeth: And I'll ask Rick this because I know Rick watched, I listened to and watched Charlie's podcast.
- 7:23Carmen Lezeth: I did a two-part private lounge with Charlie Matera and I just I just want to give a shout out to him because I love him and I know that he's probably listening, but it was so much fun and I've gotten I can't believe it I've gotten so much feedback from both of those things, from people, which is kind of cool.
- 7:36Carmen Lezeth: So I don't know if you guys got to hear it, but what I love about it the most is like just he's such a great storyteller at Rick right, totally, totally.
- 7:43Rick Costa: Yeah, I liked.
- 7:44Rick Costa: I'm like he's talking about his script and everything.
- 7:46Rick Costa: I was like, well, I don't know if he would give it all.
- 7:47Rick Costa: He goes, that's already copyrighted, don't worry.
- 7:49Rick Costa: I'm like when is this coming out?
- 7:51Rick Costa: Because it sounds good.
- 7:53Carmen Lezeth: The thing is, too, I cut out a lot.
- 7:55Carmen Lezeth: I cut out a lot because he act, there's more to the story of the script and I cut out like a whole chunk.
- 8:00Carmen Lezeth: That is actually kind of a twisty.
- 8:03Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to say, I'm not going to put that, but there's a huge twist to it.
- 8:06Carmen Lezeth: And he and I was like I got to cut that out because there's no way that someone isn't going to try to steal it or whatever.
- 8:11Carmen Lezeth: But he, yeah, he's totally chill and I think a couple of people emailed me and said I can't believe he was in prison.
- 8:16Carmen Lezeth: I'm like why, why are you so stunned and him talking about?
- 8:21Rick Costa: Farrah Fawcett.
- 8:22Rick Costa: That was pretty funny too.
- 8:24Rick Costa: That was so much fun.
- 8:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, so thank you to Charlie, and if you haven't listened to it, there's two different parts to it and I hope you can take a moment and just get to know somebody who is not just one of the coolest people I met out here, but very fascinating and a great storyteller.
- 8:40Maurio Dawson: You're super close to Ryan O'Neill, right?
- 8:41Maurio Dawson: Is that how you guys know each other or met each other?
- 8:45Carmen Lezeth: I met Ryan O'Neill because he owned it.
- 8:46Carmen Lezeth: He owned a gym here in Brentwood and I met Charlie outside of BC Goat Dough.
- 8:51Carmen Lezeth: And really we kind of said this a long time ago, rick, I forget which episode it was, but it was when we first met Charlie on the, on the podcast, on the live stream.
- 8:59Carmen Lezeth: We were just checking each other out because that brother was fine as well.
- 9:02Carmen Lezeth: I mean, he still is.
- 9:05Carmen Lezeth: I just he was, you know, he had the blonde blonde here and he was so cut and built and whatever, and he was just and he was walking around town like he owned it.
- 9:12Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean, one of those people and of course at the time I lived in Brentwood.
- 9:15Carmen Lezeth: We were outside the famous restaurant you know, like at the end of it was Mesaluna, which is where it's famous for, where Nicole Simpson and Dan Goldman right, yeah, roman Right, so that's the restaurant that was right there next to it is was where BC Goat Dough was.
- 9:33Carmen Lezeth: So it was a pretty well known area and that's where I first met him and then we had mutual friends and and then, yeah, the gym.
- 9:38Carmen Lezeth: I guess I never hung out with him in the gym, so not the whole of the level of working out that I was never out.
- 9:44Maurio Dawson: Right.
- 9:45Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, and Ryan passed away this past December, so yeah, I remember, so it's kind of sad, but yeah, anyway, I just wanted to touch base with that too.
- 9:52Carmen Lezeth: Mario, you have the list.
- 9:53Carmen Lezeth: What else is on the list?
- 9:56Maurio Dawson: Well, we talked.
- 9:56Maurio Dawson: We talked about Charlie already.
- 9:58Maurio Dawson: We touched on the Oscars.
- 10:00Rick Costa: Oh, so that's what the Oscars.
- 10:02Maurio Dawson: Oh, we touched on the Oscars.
- 10:04Maurio Dawson: We just we got stuck on a all about the joyful thing, this part.
- 10:08Rick Costa: And then you just I think Andrea wants to say something and then get past it.
- 10:15Andrea Nunez: I just I don't, I don't think I have met Mario before.
- 10:20Maurio Dawson: Oh hey, how are you?
- 10:21Carmen Lezeth: I'm so sorry.
- 10:23Carmen Lezeth: I thought you know the name was.
- 10:24Carmen Lezeth: So sorry, andrea, you know who Mario is.
- 10:29Carmen Lezeth: I'm just probably going to click for you when I tell you this.
- 10:31Carmen Lezeth: I met Mario when I worked at Brand New School.
- 10:34Carmen Lezeth: He was our principal banker at City National Bank, and so we got to know each other through that, and you can only imagine the conversations during that time in my life when I was so happy and joyful.
- 10:45Maurio Dawson: And I, and I too, were happy in Joyful City National Bank.
- 10:53Carmen Lezeth: And we loved working the jobs that we did and helping people become wealthy and wealthy, are we?
- 10:58Andrea Nunez: Yes, yes, bankers are well known to be very happy, joyful.
- 11:03Maurio Dawson: We are joyful people.
- 11:04Maurio Dawson: Entertainment people are joyful people.
- 11:07Andrea Nunez: Well, it's nice to meet you, Mario.
- 11:09Rick Costa: Nice to meet you too.
- 11:10Rick Costa: I also wanted to say I was she almost brought me a little teary-eyed with the woman.
- 11:15Rick Costa: I think her name is Devine.
- 11:17Cynthia Lopez: Oh yes, Devine, Devine's going round off.
- 11:19Rick Costa: Her speech was like oh, you want me to cry.
- 11:21Rick Costa: Stop yeah that was nice.
- 11:23Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, she was good.
- 11:23Carmen Lezeth: You know what that whole?
- 11:25Carmen Lezeth: Category was great this year it was great and I was upset that.
- 11:28Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I just felt like you could have.
- 11:30Carmen Lezeth: I'm waiting for a and we have a tie.
- 11:32Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 11:33Carmen Lezeth: Because I just feel like it would have been so much cooler if, like three I think three of them could have been easier.
- 11:37Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, because.
- 11:38Cynthia Lopez: Danielle.
- 11:39Cynthia Lopez: She was an amazing girl.
- 11:40Cynthia Lopez: Danielle was a beautiful girl.
- 11:42Cynthia Lopez: Sorry, but I'm going to say it.
- 11:44Cynthia Lopez: I think she did a better Sophia than Oprah, oh yeah, but you was amazing.
- 11:56Maurio Dawson: There's enough love no, you know, you know why.
- 11:58Maurio Dawson: The color, the original is one of my all-time favorite movies, so like I get it.
- 12:03Maurio Dawson: But the thing is I always have this debate with my friends about the original and the remake because they're totally different in terms of this.
- 12:11Maurio Dawson: Wouldn't want being the musical, but Danielle, if If you guys don't realize, she's an egot nominee now.
- 12:17Maurio Dawson: So she's been nominated in every category.
- 12:20Maurio Dawson: So she's, she's on her way.
- 12:22Maurio Dawson: She's just give her a couple of I would have voted.
- 12:25Carmen Lezeth: I voted for her and sag awards because I thought yeah amazing Um.
- 12:28Carmen Lezeth: I do it was hard for for both of them.
- 12:30Carmen Lezeth: You don't mean to not give.
- 12:31Carmen Lezeth: I anyway, I just wanted the tie, but yeah.
- 12:33Carmen Lezeth: But, I wasn't thrown by the holdovers.
- 12:40Maurio Dawson: No, I Watched all the movies just this year.
- 12:44Maurio Dawson: I slept two part of Oppenheimer but and the killers of fire?
- 12:50Maurio Dawson: It bored me to tears and not, but I tried to push through.
- 12:55Maurio Dawson: As my grandmother said, I went fishing.
- 13:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm just glad that movies are back to being pretty amazing.
- 13:03Carmen Lezeth: Knock on wood, you know we have good ones and we have bad ones, but I thought it was fun and I will say this for the Oscars I thought it was a really great show.
- 13:11Carmen Lezeth: The bar is so low but I really thought it went well.
- 13:14Carmen Lezeth: I thought Jimmy Kimmel penis and all was fantastic.
- 13:18Carmen Lezeth: Sorry.
- 13:22Andrea Nunez: I think I missed a really important part of the show.
- 13:31Maurio Dawson: Hey honey, hi baby, I'm missing.
- 13:36Andrea Nunez: I missed it.
- 13:37Andrea Nunez: No, no.
- 13:38Carmen Lezeth: Andrea a loose.
- 13:39Carmen Lezeth: A loose whose name is Alma, in real life that's my wife.
- 13:42Carmen Lezeth: Mario's wife, yeah.
- 13:46Cynthia Lopez: Carmen, you know the person I met, mario to.
- 13:51Carmen Lezeth: Can I just say I am, I'm so sorry, but I just I think this is what I mean by the neighborhood like we just all such good friends, I'm realizing, mario, cynthia, Cynthia, mario, I apologize, I didn't that's right.
- 14:05Maurio Dawson: This is my first time eating both.
- 14:08Carmen Lezeth: I didn't know this.
- 14:09Carmen Lezeth: You know, if I had a good co-host slash producer, I would have filled me in on that.
- 14:14Carmen Lezeth: Somehow there would be like a little note or something like the only.
- 14:21Rick Costa: Past the buck thing.
- 14:24Carmen Lezeth: I miss that what.
- 14:25Rick Costa: I like that past the buck.
- 14:28Carmen Lezeth: Hey, you know what I think?
- 14:29Carmen Lezeth: It's actually a testament to the fact that I think y'all know I.
- 14:34Rick Costa: Now, andrea, I think I kind of back my name either, but I thought Cynthia.
- 14:39Maurio Dawson: No, but they've.
- 14:40Maurio Dawson: I've seen them, they've seen me, we've all seen each other.
- 14:43Carmen Lezeth: But we've never been on at the same time.
- 14:45Carmen Lezeth: No, that's cool, that's cool.
- 14:46Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry that that's my all just kind of mesh well together, so it really is working.
- 14:53Maurio Dawson: It's the red beans are right for me.
- 14:54Maurio Dawson: That's just on the.
- 14:56Carmen Lezeth: For me okay.
- 14:58Maurio Dawson: Literally just make your beans all right.
- 14:59Carmen Lezeth: That's why I say Because and you know what I forgot to say happy pie day as well today is.
- 15:05Carmen Lezeth: I know none of you Probably even care what that is, but it's a math, a math.
- 15:09Maurio Dawson: Yeah, 314, 3.1 forward.
- 15:12Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so let me just see here.
- 15:13Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I wanted to talk about this because I was hoping Andrea would be here, so I wanted this is gonna be more of a work thing.
- 15:19Carmen Lezeth: And going back to this quiet quitting crap, I Responded to a woman on on a tick tock today and I have not been on tick tock other than posting our clips from the show.
- 15:28Carmen Lezeth: But I'm like, oh, they're gonna ban tick tock.
- 15:29Carmen Lezeth: Let me do a post, let me jump in the end of this.
- 15:34Carmen Lezeth: But she is clearly somebody who does a lot of I don't I don't want to say life coaching, but that's what the umbrella will put it on because that's what it feels like.
- 15:42Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean and I've never seen her before, but she was talking about quite quitting.
- 15:46Carmen Lezeth: And she got into this conversation About how you shouldn't be doing quite quitting, that if you're not getting that job or you're not getting that promotion or you're not getting that raise, and then you decide not to give it your all, what does that say about your integrity?
- 16:01Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god so then she goes on this.
- 16:03Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you what the comments were like so beautiful.
- 16:07Carmen Lezeth: I was like, oh, hey, gen Z, I know y'all Gen Z in here, but I wanted to talk about was I feel like people who are Gen X and boomers and I'm not saying everyone, but clearly I think she was.
- 16:19Carmen Lezeth: You know our age, you know, and I Think we're stuck in this mentality of you got to work really hard, you got to be dedicated, you've got to do what you got to do to Prove yourself and even when you don't get that raise or you don't get acknowledged, that makes you have to do it even more, and I was like I don't think so, so enjoy.
- 16:38Carmen Lezeth: I wanted to see what you thought.
- 16:41Andrea Nunez: Yeah, I wholeheartedly disagree with that right.
- 16:45Andrea Nunez: You owe your job, the hours you are paid for, right, that's, you know, like that's the exchange right.
- 16:53Andrea Nunez: And if you're passed over for promotion, if your boss is a jerk, your co-workers are jerks, you still have to pay the bills.
- 17:01Andrea Nunez: You still need health insurance, you know?
- 17:03Andrea Nunez: I mean like we don't have the Social safety net in this country.
- 17:07Andrea Nunez: To be like this is no longer fulfilling for me, so I'm gonna take a pause until I find the next thing right.
- 17:13Andrea Nunez: Like no, you still have to put food on the table and somehow be a human person walking around on the planet and not be, you know, completely aggro.
- 17:22Andrea Nunez: You got do what you got to do, honey, like, just if you need to, like, create some separation, you know, some mental space.
- 17:29Andrea Nunez: I I don't here's the issue.
- 17:32Andrea Nunez: I like I read that when you said in the email and I I hate that moralizing about work.
- 17:38Andrea Nunez: Yes the, when you like the word.
- 17:40Andrea Nunez: Integrity is like Are they stealing?
- 17:43Andrea Nunez: Like literally stealing?
- 17:45Andrea Nunez: No, they're not.
- 17:46Andrea Nunez: They're there, they're doing their jobs right, Like they're not Undermining other Pete.
- 17:50Andrea Nunez: You know what I mean.
- 17:51Andrea Nunez: Like there's just something about that.
- 17:52Andrea Nunez: That's like you have to hold yourself to some high moral standard, you know.
- 17:56Andrea Nunez: It's like I'm good to job.
- 17:57Carmen Lezeth: Well, I think I think we got it wrong growing up.
- 17:59Carmen Lezeth: I think we we grew up Learning at least I did learning that if you suffer, then you're good.
- 18:06Carmen Lezeth: So if you're, you know, I mean, if you are Sacrificing and if you're really doing all you can, then somehow that makes you a better person then then the person that's just going in and Doing their job and leaving, and what I've realized in my life and I don't know if this has happened to any of you is the more I put into a company or a person or a client, the more likely they don't give a shit when they get ready to fire me.
- 18:30Carmen Lezeth: Move on, layoff people.
- 18:33Andrea Nunez: The Lord.
- 18:34Andrea Nunez: Yes, I have this experience right.
- 18:37Andrea Nunez: That's one of the first things I learned when I started doing consulting.
- 18:40Andrea Nunez: I can't want this more than you do.
- 18:42Andrea Nunez: I can't be showing up trying to like make this go and like doing the jobs of people who actually work there Because I wanted so bad for you.
- 18:52Andrea Nunez: You know what I mean.
- 18:53Andrea Nunez: Like this is that whole idea of you, know just.
- 18:58Andrea Nunez: I just hate all that that moralizing about it.
- 19:01Andrea Nunez: Yeah, I'm sorry, I just was at a client all week.
- 19:04Andrea Nunez: I just got home today, like a couple hours ago, so I'm in it.
- 19:08Maurio Dawson: I love you for coming on the story for you guys of a place long, long ago where someone got terminated high up in the company and and one of the senior vice presidents came out and said we know this is all very Jarring for everyone and I'm sure everybody's shook up.
- 19:26Maurio Dawson: But just consider this a pebble in the water that creates a ripple, and the water just keep on flowing right on after that and say have a great day, go back to work.
- 19:36Carmen Lezeth: That was a good thing that they thought that was.
- 19:38Maurio Dawson: Yes, yes, I will never Took that with me when I left.
- 19:45Maurio Dawson: I'm like you know what?
- 19:46Maurio Dawson: Do we know it?
- 19:46Maurio Dawson: Because that lets me know you really don't care.
- 19:49Carmen Lezeth: Let me show you my part of the ripple bitch.
- 19:52Maurio Dawson: That part.
- 19:53Maurio Dawson: Why am I just behind for you?
- 20:00Maurio Dawson: You know I'm saying you don't care.
- 20:02Carmen Lezeth: You don't care, I'm gonna just, and I tell everyone, if you die today, replace it will be here tomorrow and you'll get in.
- 20:11Cynthia Lopez: Maybe I agree with everyone.
- 20:15Cynthia Lopez: And I'm going through it right now like I've worked at my place for over ten years and I was always yes, yes, yes, I'll do this, I'll do that, thinking that same mentality.
- 20:25Cynthia Lopez: And now I'm like no, they asked me to do something today and I said no, I don't feel like doing that.
- 20:31Cynthia Lopez: And they're like oh please, I said I'll think about it.
- 20:34Cynthia Lopez: They knew I wasn't going to do it.
- 20:35Cynthia Lopez: They found someone else to do it.
- 20:36Cynthia Lopez: I said OK and kept them moving.
- 20:41Maurio Dawson: Yeah, I agree with you, alma.
- 20:43Maurio Dawson: Take time, take personal time off and take vacation.
- 20:46Maurio Dawson: Take the time to go see your family, Spend time with your family, because those are the people who care about you.
- 20:50Maurio Dawson: That job is going to be there, that you are a pig in a wheel that can be replaced.
- 20:54Maurio Dawson: So you know you can be replaced and that's the whole thing.
- 21:00Maurio Dawson: And then you have people who want you to work over your eight hours and expect you to do extra work and take it gladly, and then they don't understand.
- 21:10Maurio Dawson: Well, why are you working?
- 21:11Maurio Dawson: We're trying to find you and you're gone.
- 21:14Maurio Dawson: Well, my time is up.
- 21:15Carmen Lezeth: No, no, my time is up.
- 21:16Carmen Lezeth: We're a family here.
- 21:17Carmen Lezeth: We're a family.
- 21:18Carmen Lezeth: No, no, no, we're not a family.
- 21:20Carmen Lezeth: We're not a family, yeah.
- 21:22Andrea Nunez: The people who are quiet.
- 21:23Andrea Nunez: There's an issue going on, there's some kind of issue happening there that they are unhappy with, that is unaddressed, and so the companies want loyalty, they want people to go the extra mile, they want them to take on extra work and stay late, and all of those things.
- 21:39Andrea Nunez: If you want me to do more, what are you giving me for that?
- 21:44Andrea Nunez: More and a lot of times it's just the expectation of it, with nothing more being offered most of the time.
- 21:51Carmen Lezeth: Well, I told someone in a day that they're confusing me being a CFO with actually what I do, which is business management.
- 21:57Carmen Lezeth: I said the difference is about $400,000.
- 22:00Carmen Lezeth: So you want me to be your CFO?
- 22:03Carmen Lezeth: We can have that conversation.
- 22:04Carmen Lezeth: I totally did, but I'm just over here making my little money, so I'm just going to do this part, which is what we agreed to.
- 22:10Carmen Lezeth: You want me to pull up the contract.
- 22:12Cynthia Lopez: I was like Cynthia, you were going to say that that I like the new acronym some of the new teenagers have for the BTL, which is Prepare the Others, Because I want to be here, I want to be here.
- 22:28Andrea Nunez: I'm going to use that.
- 22:29Andrea Nunez: Hi Brian.
- 22:30Andrea Nunez: Hi Brian, brian's right though right, you're here with your family and you scoff, it's like OK.
- 22:35Andrea Nunez: Most families I know are pretty damn dysfunctional Come on now.
- 22:41Andrea Nunez: Tell them, I don't like my family though.
- 22:46Maurio Dawson: Like you might not want to bring out my family I'm like.
- 22:48Maurio Dawson: Well, I take time away from my family every day.
- 22:53Carmen Lezeth: OK, let me get Rick in there, because then I won't be able to have him in the show anywhere except for the parts.
- 22:58Rick Costa: I mean I'm going to do the best I can, because I have to live with myself and feel like I'm trying, I'm doing the best I can, doing my part.
- 23:05Rick Costa: I have many times gone above and beyond, especially during COVID.
- 23:09Rick Costa: There was days where I was literally just to catch up.
- 23:11Rick Costa: I was up till 2 o'clock in the morning not getting paid, and I know that's crazy, but I was like I don't want this company to go under, because a lot of companies of this type are going under.
- 23:20Rick Costa: So I'm helping him free, but at the same time I'm helping this company not go down, because if I don't, then I got to look for another job.
- 23:28Rick Costa: But, like we've talked about this before, once that time is done, 5.30 hits, buy.
- 23:33Rick Costa: Like I ain't thinking about the job, no more, it's done Again.
- 23:36Rick Costa: Yes, we did this in the beginning, see, but yeah, I start exactly at 8.30, and I finish exactly at 5.30.
- 23:43Rick Costa: I'm out my lunch break.
- 23:45Rick Costa: I do not exist on my lunch break either.
- 23:47Rick Costa: Like, no, like, no, no, no, no.
- 23:49Rick Costa: I'm going to do the best I can.
- 23:50Rick Costa: I'm going to support, try to do extra if I can, if I have time to do so, but don't ask me to see.
- 23:57Carmen Lezeth: I think CEOs, owners of company, need to change their thinking, and I'm stealing something from Gary V who you all know I love which is this idea that if I own the company, I'm the one who has to be working the most, not the people who are working the most, and I love that you can't expect me to care about the company the same way you do Issue your company.
- 24:15Rick Costa: You don't want to make it a big buck not me so you can't expect me to care like you do.
- 24:19Rick Costa: You're going to go out of your way.
- 24:20Rick Costa: You're going to do definitely way more if you need to.
- 24:23Carmen Lezeth: But let me see what Brian just wrote.
- 24:25Carmen Lezeth: Work ethic is slowly dying, with the younger generation Lack of leadership.
- 24:29Carmen Lezeth: I disagree 150%.
- 24:30Maurio Dawson: Yeah, me too I disagree.
- 24:32Carmen Lezeth: Not true at all.
- 24:33Carmen Lezeth: I think the younger generation which I'm talking about, gen Z, at the moment actually is doing this right.
- 24:39Carmen Lezeth: Their priorities are not to kill themselves, working for people who do not pay them more than minimum wage or a living wage, or making ridiculous profits and then turning around and not giving anything to their workers.
- 24:52Carmen Lezeth: Gen Z is saying I'm going to work smarter, not harder.
- 24:57Carmen Lezeth: And this world of social media and technology, they have the ability to say you know what?
- 25:02Carmen Lezeth: This ain't working for me.
- 25:03Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to go.
- 25:03Carmen Lezeth: And we're all pissed about it because we have old school thinking.
- 25:07Carmen Lezeth: When I say we, I mean like Gen X, I mean Gen X and like Boomers.
- 25:10Carmen Lezeth: We're in that poverty mentality of like no, I must stay and I must work hard and I must suffer and no, I think they got it right.
- 25:19Carmen Lezeth: I love all the Gen Z people I work with far more than I'm going to just say it.
- 25:24Carmen Lezeth: Gen X people I work with.
- 25:25Carmen Lezeth: Gen Z people just seem to be honest about who they are and what they want.
- 25:31Andrea Nunez: Yeah, they're very direct about what they want and they have boundaries, right, yes.
- 25:36Andrea Nunez: And there's like and they'll say I am going to take my time off, yeah, 100%, you know.
- 25:41Andrea Nunez: And it's like how dare they take their?
- 25:43Andrea Nunez: Those kids don't want to work.
- 25:44Andrea Nunez: Like, do you give them PTO?
- 25:46Andrea Nunez: Are they?
- 25:47Andrea Nunez: Is it fake or do you not mean for them to take it Exactly?
- 25:52Carmen Lezeth: Alma just said exactly Carmen, we taught our daughter to know her worth and to work hard and play harder.
- 25:56Carmen Lezeth: Uh-huh, I have definitely lost my Gen Z daughter, gigi.
- 26:00Carmen Lezeth: Welcome to the show.
- 26:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm glad you're here.
- 26:02Carmen Lezeth: I feel like it is so different for health care workers, definitely overworked and underpaid, and even your breaks and lunches.
- 26:08Carmen Lezeth: You are working because your patients need you, since you relate to that, and that's a ball game, I understand.
- 26:16Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 26:17Andrea Nunez: I mean there's like a spectrum right Like I believe you know I see a lot of companies.
- 26:21Andrea Nunez: So do you, carmen, like most people, work pretty hard while they're working?
- 26:26Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 26:26Andrea Nunez: You know, yes, there are some who are, you know, dicking around on social media or whatever they do, and, you know, taking advantage.
- 26:31Andrea Nunez: That is not the majority, though.
- 26:33Andrea Nunez: Those are the ones that everyone's talking about and the other.
- 26:39Cynthia Lopez: Because I'm agreeing, I'm agreeing, I totally understand, I agree.
- 26:42Cynthia Lopez: Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 26:44Cynthia Lopez: We all work hard and you know, a lot of times our lunches are interrupted.
- 26:49Cynthia Lopez: Oh, I know you're at lunch, but do you mind doing this, or you know they'll be real quick.
- 26:55Cynthia Lopez: Oh, I need help with this, or I need an interpreter for that.
- 26:57Cynthia Lopez: And you're always getting interrupted.
- 26:59Cynthia Lopez: You have no time for yourself, that's crazy.
- 27:02Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, jessie, I can't believe you're here.
- 27:04Carmen Lezeth: Hi, I love you.
- 27:06Carmen Lezeth: Wow, thank you for being here.
- 27:08Carmen Lezeth: Sorry, everyone.
- 27:09Carmen Lezeth: This is one of my family friends from back in the day.
- 27:12Carmen Lezeth: I lived in her house growing up.
- 27:16Maurio Dawson: Baby.
- 27:17Carmen Lezeth: Jessie, I adore you.
- 27:18Carmen Lezeth: Hi, sorry about that.
- 27:20Carmen Lezeth: I get thrown when even though all these people that are on my Facebook page I get thrown when people actually show up and come into the show, sorry.
- 27:26Carmen Lezeth: Well, yeah, I think it's a tough time and I think it's more Jen X's fault Because we want to.
- 27:35Carmen Lezeth: I think every generation does this thing where we always want to find fault in the generation coming up and I'm not saying that there isn't some issues with Jen X, we can have that conversation too.
- 27:45Carmen Lezeth: But I think when it comes to this work stuff and I think quite quitting is the wrong word I think we need to come up with something else that's more positive, because it's not about quite quitting.
- 27:53Carmen Lezeth: It's about, like, I'm just doing my job, as you hired me to do in the agreement, that's all I'm not doing, any more than that or any less.
- 28:01Maurio Dawson: It's setting boundaries.
- 28:02Maurio Dawson: I think it's just as simple as setting boundaries.
- 28:05Maurio Dawson: These kids, they say look, we have a contract from nine to five.
- 28:09Maurio Dawson: Now I work for you from nine to five.
- 28:12Maurio Dawson: Before nine is my time and after five is my time.
- 28:14Maurio Dawson: Now, thank you very much, I'm out and they don't have a problem doing that, and I think, with a lot of us, I think we're teaching the younger generation how to do it better, versus like my parents.
- 28:26Maurio Dawson: My mom, particularly taught me how to do better than she did, and same thing with my grandmother she taught my mother how to do better than she did.
- 28:34Maurio Dawson: So it's just about learning the lessons and passing them down and the kids taking the wisdom from each generation and trying to do it better.
- 28:42Maurio Dawson: I think that's really what this is about, and I think the people who are in the older generations are pissed off.
- 28:48Maurio Dawson: Well, why don't I think of that?
- 28:51Maurio Dawson: I think they're mad because they didn't think of them, but they're stuck in what they've always done.
- 28:56Carmen Lezeth: Let me read what Melanie just wrote, because I think it's very important.
- 28:59Carmen Lezeth: If you can work smarter not harder more power to you, but someone has to be the janitor or you will be, working smarter, in a very sticky place.
- 29:05Carmen Lezeth: Melanie, we appreciate all hardworking people, so I think the idea of working smarter is more about putting up like what Mario said and what Rick had mentioned putting up boundaries.
- 29:16Carmen Lezeth: So it doesn't matter what job it is.
- 29:17Carmen Lezeth: If you're working past your eight hours and you don't get overtime and you're coming in on a Sunday because there's then, I think, ceos and bosses and people who hire other people managers one of the biggest things I do is tell them you're treating your staff wrong.
- 29:32Carmen Lezeth: People will hire me to come, and they do this with Andrea too.
- 29:34Carmen Lezeth: They hire us to come in and fix the problem with their teams.
- 29:39Carmen Lezeth: Right, that's usually the gentle thing that people come to me about and I will tell you I've said this a million times 95% of the time my problem ends up being I have to talk to the person who hired me.
- 29:48Carmen Lezeth: They're the problem, not the team, because they're abusing what the team is willing or able or capable of doing.
- 29:55Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 29:55Carmen Lezeth: So this is for everybody.
- 29:57Carmen Lezeth: This is for every industry.
- 29:58Carmen Lezeth: It's about making sure you have boundaries so that people aren't taking advantage of you.
- 30:02Carmen Lezeth: And then people like me and Andrea, who have the privilege of being able to work with people who hire us, we tell them the truth, which sometimes works, and we get more to work or we get fired.
- 30:14Andrea Nunez: That's all the competition.
- 30:16Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, they want someone to come in and agree with them Yep, it's all them Especially when I make sure I get you know my I don't know how Andrea does it, but I get paid a month in advance.
- 30:25Carmen Lezeth: So like my bill goes out on the 15th of the month prior to the month they have to pay me.
- 30:29Carmen Lezeth: So like I'll get paid this Friday for April.
- 30:31Carmen Lezeth: So I come in, they get mad or upset once I do my assessment and they fire me.
- 30:35Carmen Lezeth: I'm like that's all good, thank you, I got like three weeks off the whole day.
- 30:39Cynthia Lopez: That's all good Please.
- 30:43Rick Costa: I've had several jobs where, like when it comes to lunch break time, they all stay at their desk and eat, and then I'd be like, okay, I'll see you later when you going.
- 30:51Rick Costa: I'm gonna go get some food.
- 30:52Rick Costa: Are you gonna come back when my break is over?
- 30:54Rick Costa: I'll be back.
- 30:55Carmen Lezeth: Right Done.
- 30:57Carmen Lezeth: You know what we used to do at the company I almost said the name of the company.
- 30:59Carmen Lezeth: Anybody who knows me knows where I used to work.
- 31:01Carmen Lezeth: But we used to turn around and we would buy, we would cater in food, we would have cuts for people to take naps, foosball tables.
- 31:10Carmen Lezeth: Mario, you know, we had a beautiful building and everything.
- 31:14Carmen Lezeth: All of that was designed for you to never leave the office, leave, and it worked.
- 31:19Carmen Lezeth: Let me write.
- 31:20Carmen Lezeth: Let me read what Jesse wrote.
- 31:21Carmen Lezeth: I think it's okay to work longer hours to get my own tasks done, but it's important that we know our firms appreciate it, appreciate and recognize the effort.
- 31:28Carmen Lezeth: That's usually through bonuses et cetera.
- 31:31Carmen Lezeth: No one should feel like they are not seen Exactly.
- 31:34Carmen Lezeth: That just summed it all up.
- 31:35Carmen Lezeth: That's exactly what we've been talking about.
- 31:37Cynthia Lopez: This is my third year without a bonus.
- 31:40Cynthia Lopez: Yeah, why?
- 31:43Cynthia Lopez: Because of budget, they're building all these new buildings that are half empty and, oh sorry, there's no money for your bonus this year.
- 31:57Carmen Lezeth: Isn't it even worse when you see them building stuff and they're telling you they have no money, I just want to shoot.
- 32:02Cynthia Lopez: Then they get a seven million dollar donation from an actor and her husband for one of the centers and again, we get no bonus.
- 32:12Cynthia Lopez: Then just recently, they sent out a survey for all of us to anonymously tell them how we feel about our managers and if our managers are doing their jobs.
- 32:22Cynthia Lopez: Let me tell you, the president sent an email saying she heard us and it's across the board that the managers are not doing their jobs and it's noted and they're going to fix it, blah, blah, blah.
- 32:33Cynthia Lopez: The following day it's administration or staff appreciation, whatever day.
- 32:38Cynthia Lopez: And what did they do?
- 32:41Cynthia Lopez: Instead of appreciating everyone, they only gave random people gifts, like, just random, like they announced it in the email.
- 32:50Cynthia Lopez: It's like either you do all, you do none right and you don't announce it to just kind of throw it in your face.
- 32:56Cynthia Lopez: You just told us you heard our problems, you heard our issues, but then you're going to turn around and say, oh, we take your, your information and all your input, these wholehearted, and all this and that, but you know, oh, we can't give you anything.
- 33:11Cynthia Lopez: So no bonus, no gift, no, nothing.
- 33:14Carmen Lezeth: I think your company should spend a lot of money and hire Andrea to come in and fix these issues.
- 33:21Carmen Lezeth: Gigi said I think Google is like that.
- 33:23Carmen Lezeth: Now they provide everything for their work.
- 33:24Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, I mean all the big.
- 33:25Carmen Lezeth: I mean we didn't invent it, but I mean all the tech companies that started, I think, with like Apple, you know, back in the day so yeah, alma said I do not eat in the lunchroom, I arrange it so I have a private space to eat, because people don't respect your time and if I work one minute, I charge 15 minutes of overtime.
- 33:39Maurio Dawson: Good, she does, she does.
- 33:40Maurio Dawson: That's the truth.
- 33:42Carmen Lezeth: Really good.
- 33:43Maurio Dawson: She does the truth.
- 33:44Maurio Dawson: Yeah, she's like one minute, okay, 15 minutes, and she's like 20 minutes of an hour, whatever you know.
- 33:51Carmen Lezeth: Brian just said I'm lucky with the company I work for.
- 33:53Carmen Lezeth: I have a lot of perks there.
- 33:54Carmen Lezeth: My team is awesome.
- 33:55Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, brian, you really love where you work.
- 33:57Carmen Lezeth: It's good because really it's a rarity and it's something to be very grateful for.
- 34:02Carmen Lezeth: Go ahead, nj.
- 34:02Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry.
- 34:02Andrea Nunez: I said they're treating it right.
- 34:04Carmen Lezeth: Ben, that's good.
- 34:05Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 34:06Carmen Lezeth: I think he's in a management position, though that changes things a bit, you know what I mean.
- 34:09Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm not saying that his workers aren't, but he's also, I believe, in a management position, which most managers are always pretty fine until they're not, you know.
- 34:20Carmen Lezeth: I mean, it's kind of nice to be the person in charge until you know, things fall apart in your team socks or whatever.
- 34:27Carmen Lezeth: Jesse just said.
- 34:27Carmen Lezeth: I have an amazing firm as well, thank goodness, 26.
- 34:32Carmen Lezeth: Wow, okay, let me explain something to you.
- 34:34Carmen Lezeth: Jesse is when I was in Collegard and Drum Core.
- 34:37Carmen Lezeth: So I remember when Tommy Lee was here.
- 34:38Carmen Lezeth: So Jackie Dunne, who's also in my book, was like my best friend and we, you know, we hung out all the time.
- 34:46Carmen Lezeth: We were always doing rehearsals together.
- 34:47Carmen Lezeth: We were like best buddies.
- 34:48Carmen Lezeth: So I ended up living with them basically for a long time.
- 34:52Carmen Lezeth: And Jesse is the little kid who was like 10 years old.
- 34:56Carmen Lezeth: So there's no way you're 26 years working anywhere.
- 34:59Carmen Lezeth: It was like a little 10 year old kid.
- 35:02Carmen Lezeth: So when she just rolled that, I'm like what I got his heads.
- 35:06Carmen Lezeth: I have been denial.
- 35:09Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you, I have been denial.
- 35:13Carmen Lezeth: I really am.
- 35:14Carmen Lezeth: I cannot deal with.
- 35:15Carmen Lezeth: I keep thinking like, oh my god, I'm so happy, I'm like I'm not 50.
- 35:19Carmen Lezeth: And then, like I'm talking to Charlie and Charlie's like yeah, and he's telling me like I think he said he's like 65 or something what I was like.
- 35:26Maurio Dawson: Tommy, remember, you remember coming to Alma's baby shower.
- 35:28Maurio Dawson: So come on now Stop and my baby graduates from college next month.
- 35:34Carmen Lezeth: See, no, no Time is going to look at you, I forgot.
- 35:40Carmen Lezeth: Look, I'm just saying I think time is amazing and and I love it, but sometimes it throws me and I'm like, yeah, did it go by that quick?
- 35:49Carmen Lezeth: And now this little kid is graduated from college.
- 35:53Cynthia Lopez: Yeah.
- 35:53Carmen Lezeth: That's all I'm saying.
- 35:54Cynthia Lopez: Yeah.
- 35:55Carmen Lezeth: I've seen 26 years.
- 35:57Carmen Lezeth: I don't even envision you 26 years old.
- 36:01Maurio Dawson: Let alone working at that for 26 years.
- 36:04Carmen Lezeth: That is the coolest thing ever.
- 36:05Cynthia Lopez: You couldn't even remember how old I was.
- 36:07Carmen Lezeth: You couldn't believe it I know, because I still don't, because you're another one who's still in my head as a little kid.
- 36:12Rick Costa: Her baby is 27.
- 36:14Carmen Lezeth: She said she said oh my god, yeah, I.
- 36:23Carmen Lezeth: You see what I'm saying when I just give a little 10 year old kid in your head, that's what you're thinking and I'm like, oh my god, look at little Jesse is on the show in the comments.
- 36:31Carmen Lezeth: It's so cute.
- 36:33Carmen Lezeth: Oh, it's like a live car.
- 36:37Carmen Lezeth: We got it together.
- 36:37Carmen Lezeth: Hey, you know what?
- 36:38Carmen Lezeth: If my show bitch, I can do what I want.
- 36:39Carmen Lezeth: Right, have a moment.
- 36:42Maurio Dawson: Do you, do you.
- 36:46Carmen Lezeth: No, that is so cool.
- 36:46Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, no, I look at.
- 36:48Carmen Lezeth: I hope that we figure out a way to change things, and I think Andre and I kind of have the same philosophy when it comes to work.
- 36:53Carmen Lezeth: I find I do more work with the people who hire me than actually the teams.
- 36:56Carmen Lezeth: I don't know about you and Dr.
- 36:57Carmen Lezeth: How does that sound?
- 36:58Carmen Lezeth: What do you do?
- 36:58Carmen Lezeth: Is it the same thing?
- 37:00Cynthia Lopez: Yeah.
- 37:01Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, and it's like learning how to speak to people.
- 37:05Carmen Lezeth: Like, like one of the clients I work with, I'm constantly just telling him how great he is.
- 37:10Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm like, wow, I wish I understood all of that.
- 37:14Carmen Lezeth: Like it's just amazing.
- 37:15Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 37:15Carmen Lezeth: By the way, I was wondering could we buy two new computers?
- 37:18Carmen Lezeth: Because you know, just as you were saying, like the reason, it would just be easier because it's faster.
- 37:22Carmen Lezeth: And he's like, of course, yeah, by the two computers, no problem.
- 37:25Carmen Lezeth: He has no idea that I just because if I had just walked in and said can I have this approved, we'd be having a huge fight of spending money.
- 37:30Carmen Lezeth: But I have to coax it with, like how great he is and oh, if I can research faster on the better computer, you know.
- 37:36Carmen Lezeth: So these are people who need new computers.
- 37:40Carmen Lezeth: I think I spend most of my time doing that, learning how to manipulate people to understand and get past their egos.
- 37:49Cynthia Lopez: And they've done that.
- 37:50Rick Costa: Yeah, my computer was ridiculously slow and my boss couldn't understand why I wasn't finishing things.
- 37:54Rick Costa: I'm like this piece of crap computer.
- 37:56Rick Costa: I can't get nothing done because I have to say wait every first five, to wait 30 seconds for the screen to change.
- 38:00Rick Costa: Yeah, it's too slow.
- 38:01Rick Costa: Ok, come on.
- 38:02Rick Costa: So we finally got a new one.
- 38:06Carmen Lezeth: All right, so is that it?
- 38:06Carmen Lezeth: Are we done?
- 38:07Carmen Lezeth: I'm just kidding.
- 38:08Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding, ok.
- 38:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm still a little in shock.
- 38:14Maurio Dawson: Come on back girl, come on back, bring it back.
- 38:18Carmen Lezeth: Talk amongst yourselves.
- 38:19Carmen Lezeth: Talk amongst yourselves.
- 38:21Rick Costa: Well, what else is there to talk about?
- 38:22Rick Costa: You said you were talking about the.
- 38:24Rick Costa: You said that somebody talked about the.
- 38:25Maurio Dawson: Congress.
- 38:26Maurio Dawson: The House passed a bill to and it was it was on both sides to if China doesn't sell their part of TikTok, that it'll be banned in the United States.
- 38:37Maurio Dawson: And now it's gone to the Senate for approval and if it's if it's on both sides, and most likely it will pass, and President Biden said that he will sign the bill.
- 38:45Carmen Lezeth: Ok, and I just want to say that I'm completely aghast that we are at this point, because it's all bullshit, and I don't know when the last time you went to the gap or you went anywhere and noticed that things are made in China all over the place.
- 38:58Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean, because China is no, china is.
- 39:01Carmen Lezeth: They're not sending any more propaganda than Facebook or Twitter or any other social media.
- 39:07Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you what this is about from my point of view.
- 39:09Carmen Lezeth: Ok, from my point of view.
- 39:11Carmen Lezeth: If you haven't figured it out yet, somebody in the United States wants to buy TikTok, and why is that?
- 39:16Carmen Lezeth: Because TikTok is so lucrative and there's over, I think, 150 billion people and I'm billion million people using this every single day.
- 39:25Carmen Lezeth: So what the United States is trying to do and you know, I love my country less and less every motherfucking day, but I love my country.
- 39:31Carmen Lezeth: But if you haven't figured it out yet, what they're trying to do is get in a position where an American has to buy TikTok.
- 39:40Carmen Lezeth: Yes, and this is all under the guise of security, where, in fact, we do business with China all the time, everywhere, everywhere we do big companies.
- 39:50Carmen Lezeth: All Pinterest has Chinese ties.
- 39:53Carmen Lezeth: There's a whole list of them.
- 39:56Carmen Lezeth: So it's all a farce and it's all bullshit and it's sad.
- 40:00Carmen Lezeth: It's sad to me because we should be better than this.
- 40:02Carmen Lezeth: If you want to do something about social media, let's talk about putting some guardrails on social media.
- 40:07Carmen Lezeth: We can have that conversation.
- 40:08Carmen Lezeth: But like just singling out TikTok with this farce of scary Chinese people are stealing your information.
- 40:16Carmen Lezeth: Google has my information.
- 40:18Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm worried about how much Google.
- 40:20Carmen Lezeth: All I do is sneeze about a Samsung television.
- 40:26Carmen Lezeth: I'm getting some television stuff and, oh and, where is Samsung from?
- 40:29Carmen Lezeth: So this is my thing, stop it, stop it.
- 40:33Maurio Dawson: I think part of it is political.
- 40:34Maurio Dawson: I think some of it's a little political, because I know that I think our Gen Z pulled a prank on Trump and about that rally and that was all done through TikTok and so and they all went in and bought all the tickets to a rally or something and then no one was there.
- 40:50Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 40:51Carmen Lezeth: It's just getting out of hand.
- 40:52Carmen Lezeth: And all this being scared about.
- 40:54Carmen Lezeth: You know China, I'm fine with it.
- 40:56Carmen Lezeth: If you want to divest every single company that does business with China, then I'm all for it.
- 41:00Carmen Lezeth: Oh yes, let's protect ourselves.
- 41:01Carmen Lezeth: But making it just about TikTok, it's all bullshit.
- 41:04Maurio Dawson: Samsung is Korea.
- 41:05Maurio Dawson: But my point isn't about.
- 41:07Maurio Dawson: My point is about?
- 41:09Carmen Lezeth: my point is is that?
- 41:09Carmen Lezeth: Did you say it was Chinese?
- 41:10Carmen Lezeth: It doesn't matter.
- 41:11Carmen Lezeth: The point is is that Google has all my information?
- 41:14Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and no matter what, facebook has all my information Right.
- 41:17Carmen Lezeth: They own WhatsApp.
- 41:18Carmen Lezeth: They own Messenger.
- 41:19Carmen Lezeth: They own.
- 41:20Maurio Dawson: Instagram, instagram.
- 41:22Carmen Lezeth: All of our information is out there.
- 41:23Carmen Lezeth: This is all a farce.
- 41:24Carmen Lezeth: Okay, if you have an issue with China, I want you to go through all of your clothes tomorrow and see where you bought them and see where they came from.
- 41:31Carmen Lezeth: Go and look at all the plates you bought.
- 41:32Carmen Lezeth: Look at the stuff you have in your house and then look at all the companies that have connections and ties with China and then you're going to start to understand that it's all bullshit.
- 41:41Carmen Lezeth: It's because somebody in the United States wants to own TikTok.
- 41:44Carmen Lezeth: It's always about profit in this country, always, and I'm all for it, but not when you're lying to me.
- 41:51Carmen Lezeth: Do not lie to me to make money.
- 41:52Carmen Lezeth: Do not lie to me.
- 41:53Carmen Lezeth: Just say you want to motherfucking buy TikTok and we're good.
- 41:55Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 41:56Carmen Lezeth: Just say you know what?
- 41:57Carmen Lezeth: This is a great, lucrative thing.
- 41:58Carmen Lezeth: I think we should pull away from China.
- 41:59Carmen Lezeth: We should own it.
- 42:01Carmen Lezeth: We can make profit here, blah, blah.
- 42:02Carmen Lezeth: I'd be all for that shit, right?
- 42:05Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry it is all about good joy, but you've got to be factual about this shit.
- 42:10Carmen Lezeth: I'm so done with this country lying to us and getting us all up in the frenzy.
- 42:15Maurio Dawson: I love it when you get robbed.
- 42:23Carmen Lezeth: You just get like wow, just say it with the whole chest.
- 42:25Carmen Lezeth: Tell me how you get it.
- 42:29Maurio Dawson: No.
- 42:30Carmen Lezeth: Not at all.
- 42:31Maurio Dawson: Not at all.
- 42:32Carmen Lezeth: I'm just tired of the scare tactics.
- 42:34Carmen Lezeth: I'm tired of it.
- 42:35Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 42:35Carmen Lezeth: I mean go ahead.
- 42:36Carmen Lezeth: I'll let other people talk now.
- 42:37Maurio Dawson: No, no, you said it.
- 42:39Maurio Dawson: You say it like you mean it, you don't.
- 42:40Maurio Dawson: I'm here for you.
- 42:42Carmen Lezeth: Don't get me started with Elon Musk.
- 42:44Carmen Lezeth: But okay, gigi, I hear you, yeah.
- 42:46Maurio Dawson: Do you heard about that with him?
- 42:47Maurio Dawson: And Don Lemon, right that Oh-Hoo thing.
- 42:49Maurio Dawson: Don Lemon did an interview with him Because Don Lemon was supposed to be doing a show that was supposed to be going over to X, and I guess Don Lemon really challenged him and called him on the floor about his anti-Semitism comments and all this other stuff, and he really called him on it.
- 43:05Maurio Dawson: And so then all of a sudden, elon Musk backed out, but at that point it was too late.
- 43:09Maurio Dawson: My dog is about to bark.
- 43:11Maurio Dawson: Sorry, it was too late and you know, but now he canceled the show on X.
- 43:16Maurio Dawson: But Don Lemon's like look, I got the truth and it's coming down no matter what.
- 43:20Maurio Dawson: And so people are really some people don't care.
- 43:23Maurio Dawson: You know, that's the bad part.
- 43:25Maurio Dawson: Some people are really upset about the interview.
- 43:26Maurio Dawson: Some people don't care about the interview.
- 43:28Maurio Dawson: Some people are like I'm giving away my Tesla lives.
- 43:30Maurio Dawson: You're lying.
- 43:33Carmen Lezeth: You're being all my Tesla, you're lying.
- 43:34Carmen Lezeth: I love when people protest my damaging the stuff they bought.
- 43:38Maurio Dawson: Why would you do that, Like yeah?
- 43:40Carmen Lezeth: I'm against Budweiser.
- 43:42Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to dump it all up.
- 43:43Carmen Lezeth: Ok, budweiser already got you on my bed.
- 43:50Maurio Dawson: Ok, don't buy it I mean whatever.
- 43:52Maurio Dawson: Go off.
- 43:54Maurio Dawson: I guess you know like whatever.
- 43:56Carmen Lezeth: OK, but, brian, misinformation is everywhere.
- 43:59Carmen Lezeth: But you know what?
- 44:00Carmen Lezeth: That's been forever, that's been our entire lives.
- 44:03Carmen Lezeth: The difference is now because information is so easy to get, it's so easy to verify.
- 44:09Carmen Lezeth: We lazy motherfuckers.
- 44:10Carmen Lezeth: We so lazy we just go watch one little thing.
- 44:13Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to bring it back to that, rick, I'm watching, just saying we do this shit all the time.
- 44:19Carmen Lezeth: We have to get better about reading entire articles before commenting, watching entire movies or programs or whatever.
- 44:27Carmen Lezeth: Before commenting, do our research.
- 44:29Carmen Lezeth: Misinformation has been around since the beginning of time.
- 44:32Carmen Lezeth: Remember Snake?
- 44:33Carmen Lezeth: What was it?
- 44:34Carmen Lezeth: Snake oil salesman.
- 44:35Maurio Dawson: Yeah, snake oil.
- 44:36Carmen Lezeth: This thing is just now.
- 44:37Carmen Lezeth: It's just so abundant and we're lazy motherfuckers.
- 44:40Carmen Lezeth: Don't be a lazy motherfucker.
- 44:42Carmen Lezeth: Let's go big, let's go big Stay with your host.
- 44:45Rick Costa: Yes, this misinformation.
- 44:48Rick Costa: She been around for a long time.
- 44:49Rick Costa: She ain't going nowhere.
- 44:50Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but we could be better.
- 44:51Carmen Lezeth: We could be better, and that's why this thing with TikTok bothers me.
- 44:54Carmen Lezeth: I don't give a shit whether you like TikTok or not, I don't care, I use it just to promote myself.
- 44:57Carmen Lezeth: I started doing it again.
- 44:59Carmen Lezeth: I'm just tired of the lies.
- 45:01Carmen Lezeth: You know, I'm really, I'm really upset.
- 45:03Carmen Lezeth: And now, when our country is doing this as a government continuously and I know Andrea, I can already see Andrea's like I've always been lying to her.
- 45:11Maurio Dawson: She's been called a far.
- 45:12Carmen Lezeth: She's like that, I can tell you, I'm glad you're seeing it.
- 45:17Rick Costa: It's the X file.
- 45:18Andrea Nunez: I'm so glad you're seeing it.
- 45:18Andrea Nunez: But yes, yeah.
- 45:21Andrea Nunez: Thank you for catching up with me.
- 45:24Carmen Lezeth: She's like we're dying over here.
- 45:25Carmen Lezeth: I'm like I'm sorry I know I'm going to fight it today because I'm just I'm really tired of not just the lies that are going out, but that we're just so easily gullible to fucking take it in Like no, find the truth.
- 45:39Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 45:39Carmen Lezeth: And I'm just about to say that that's the worst thing that was just saying that X files what.
- 45:44Rick Costa: That's why I was singing a song.
- 45:45Rick Costa: The truth was out there.
- 45:46Rick Costa: X file, yeah.
- 45:48Carmen Lezeth: Steve Mananchin, who was the Treasury Secretary under Trump.
- 45:52Carmen Lezeth: Steve Mnuchin.
- 45:53Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 45:55Carmen Lezeth: He's putting a group of people together because they want to buy TikTok.
- 45:58Carmen Lezeth: And wasn't that interesting?
- 45:59Carmen Lezeth: This is the same guy who got like bazillion dollars from the Saudi government as he walked out of the White House.
- 46:05Carmen Lezeth: How come, you know, all up in arms about that, but now him and a group of his friends want to buy TikTok.
- 46:10Carmen Lezeth: For our safety.
- 46:13Carmen Lezeth: For our safety, of course, please, please.
- 46:17Maurio Dawson: And Rick Austin was turning it back.
- 46:21Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 46:21Carmen Lezeth: Ok, well, I feel like you guys got to give in some more input, because I just too much on fire.
- 46:26Maurio Dawson: No, no, no, no, no.
- 46:27Maurio Dawson: It was joyful to watch you.
- 46:29Maurio Dawson: It was all about the joy.
- 46:32Andrea Nunez: It was all about the joy.
- 46:34Maurio Dawson: It was all about the joy, and it was joyful to watch you Stay with your whole chest, just your whole chest.
- 46:39Maurio Dawson: It was love, you know what's going to happen now?
- 46:41Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to get all these damn motherfucking emails about me swearing that's what's going to happen.
- 46:44Andrea Nunez: Right, it's going to happen.
- 46:46Andrea Nunez: I'm going to be like what.
- 46:47Andrea Nunez: It brings me joy to see you finally seeing it?
- 46:50Maurio Dawson: all that's it, because it's all about the joy.
- 46:53Andrea Nunez: OK, how long is that going to be Long?
- 46:55Carmen Lezeth: enough.
- 46:55Carmen Lezeth: No, wait, wait, wait.
- 46:56Carmen Lezeth: Ok, we're going to get into this fight.
- 46:57Carmen Lezeth: We can, andrea.
- 46:59Carmen Lezeth: Andrea is a how can I say?
- 47:01Carmen Lezeth: Or used to be a liberal hugging tree crazy person.
- 47:06Carmen Lezeth: Yes, you were.
- 47:07Carmen Lezeth: That's why we used to get into fights, and I'm more in the middle.
- 47:10Andrea Nunez: I don't that has a connotation, but yeah, I know that's why I said it.
- 47:14Carmen Lezeth: So people don't understand.
- 47:16Carmen Lezeth: Ok, liberal liberal, liberal, liberal, liberal, liberal, and I'm not Liberal liberal, but I'm not on the right at all.
- 47:22Carmen Lezeth: I'm not on the right at all.
- 47:23Carmen Lezeth: But, I'm like middle, middle, and I was much more stupid.
- 47:26Carmen Lezeth: Kind of hate using this word because it's bullshit.
- 47:28Carmen Lezeth: Right Like you can't even say the word anymore because they've stolen and co-opted patriotism.
- 47:32Carmen Lezeth: I used to be patriotic in a different way than Andrea was.
- 47:36Carmen Lezeth: We were getting into fights about it, andrea Hippy.
- 47:40Carmen Lezeth: So what up, brian?
- 47:42Carmen Lezeth: What's Serenity now?
- 47:44Carmen Lezeth: Serenity.
- 47:44Carmen Lezeth: Is that what he wants.
- 47:45Rick Costa: That's from Sly's, sly's, sly's.
- 47:47Maurio Dawson: Sly's.
- 47:48Carmen Lezeth: Hey, we in the hood, here we hanging out.
- 47:50Carmen Lezeth: This is how it happens.
- 47:51Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 47:52Carmen Lezeth: We're just chilling and I'm on fire tonight.
- 47:54Carmen Lezeth: That's all that's happening.
- 47:55Carmen Lezeth: That's it, andrea would be a hippie.
- 47:59Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand.
- 48:00Maurio Dawson: Because you call her a tree.
- 48:01Maurio Dawson: You call her a tree-hugging liberal.
- 48:04Carmen Lezeth: But is a hippie a bad thing?
- 48:05Carmen Lezeth: I'd rather be a hippie than whatever it is.
- 48:07Carmen Lezeth: We being over there in Texas.
- 48:08Carmen Lezeth: Brian, is a hippie a bad thing, or tree-hugging thing a bad thing?
- 48:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm confusion.
- 48:12Carmen Lezeth: I'm asking to explain.
- 48:14Andrea Nunez: Yeah, I mean it has a crunchy granola breakfast kind of content.
- 48:18Maurio Dawson: Yeah, that's yeah.
- 48:20Andrea Nunez: Who was?
- 48:20Carmen Lezeth: wrong with that.
- 48:21Carmen Lezeth: I would rather be that I'm not saying, there's anything wrong with it.
- 48:23Andrea Nunez: I just am saying I don't think it's accurate.
- 48:25Carmen Lezeth: Today it's not accurate, but I'm saying me and you, me and you together, we were those kind of people.
- 48:32Carmen Lezeth: I was more conservative.
- 48:36Andrea Nunez: The more centrist and I was much more like you know, Lefty, I'm going to vote for Al Sharpton.
- 48:42Maurio Dawson: Well, damn, ok, you were real left.
- 48:45Carmen Lezeth: That's a hippie, that's a hippie, that's a hippie, that's a hippie.
- 48:47Carmen Lezeth: I love Al Sharpton but I was not going to vote for him.
- 48:50Maurio Dawson: Oh my god, look, even Mario was like what is wrong with you?
- 48:53Maurio Dawson: He said Al Sharpton, I was like, come on, please, come again.
- 48:56Maurio Dawson: I did it in the primary.
- 48:58Carmen Lezeth: I voted for Al Sharpton oh.
- 49:01Cynthia Lopez: OK.
- 49:02Carmen Lezeth: Jesse, I was saying I'm not sure a tree hug in liberal is bad.
- 49:04Carmen Lezeth: I think it's exactly.
- 49:06Andrea Nunez: No, it's definitely not bad, I'm not the same was bad, I just didn't think it was accurate.
- 49:10Andrea Nunez: But anyway, go ahead.
- 49:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying with me and you.
- 49:12Carmen Lezeth: It was accurate, Because I had an American flag on my car up until recently.
- 49:16Maurio Dawson: Was so high.
- 49:18Carmen Lezeth: I would never and Jerry would never have an American flag on your car.
- 49:23Andrea Nunez: Never, I never had, never would, never could, never will.
- 49:26Carmen Lezeth: I never will, even because I'm sad.
- 49:27Carmen Lezeth: I need our country.
- 49:29Carmen Lezeth: I'm not talking about our government.
- 49:30Carmen Lezeth: I need people in this country to get better Better about racism, better about homophobia, better about all the isms, better about sexism.
- 49:39Carmen Lezeth: We got to get on point.
- 49:40Carmen Lezeth: Got to get on point.
- 49:41Carmen Lezeth: Mm-hmm, we started on race.
- 49:43Carmen Lezeth: We don't usually talk about race, but I will go down there because I'm in the mood today.
- 49:47Maurio Dawson: I got time to date.
- 49:49Cynthia Lopez: I got time to date you know we all started with that Right.
- 49:59Carmen Lezeth: Right, carly said it, though.
- 50:00Carmen Lezeth: He said, you know, it's just wanting people to be better.
- 50:03Carmen Lezeth: It's true, wanting people to like.
- 50:06Carmen Lezeth: That is what I want.
- 50:06Carmen Lezeth: That's what I want the show to be.
- 50:08Carmen Lezeth: I mean, I keep saying it's all about the joy, because I want people to start thinking and being real, you know, and being.
- 50:12Carmen Lezeth: Stop listening to everybody else and do your own research and be really solid and be open-minded.
- 50:19Carmen Lezeth: You know, and if you have a problem with people who you think are others, the problem is you, it's not other people Like.
- 50:26Carmen Lezeth: Why hate so much?
- 50:27Carmen Lezeth: Why hate people that you don't understand?
- 50:30Carmen Lezeth: And stop using the motherfucking Bible for everything as your excuse for why you do stuff.
- 50:34Carmen Lezeth: That's not what Jesus would do.
- 50:35Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying sorry, I don't mean to throw the Bible in there, but you know a lot of people try to throw the Bible as a reason for justifying what they do.
- 50:42Carmen Lezeth: Stop it.
- 50:43Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 50:44Carmen Lezeth: Stop it.
- 50:44Carmen Lezeth: There's not a way to answer that.
- 50:46Carmen Lezeth: Hey Jess, how do we now think American flags mean a certain candidate's supporters?
- 50:51Carmen Lezeth: That doesn't make sense to me.
- 50:52Carmen Lezeth: It's considered almost a negative thing.
- 50:55Maurio Dawson: Yeah, because so many people who are patriots, who are patriots, are using that as their symbol and it doesn't necessarily represent the feelings of all Americans anymore.
- 51:07Maurio Dawson: There was a time where all Americans, every American, felt proud to be an American.
- 51:11Maurio Dawson: But even but in me, as a minority, my experience in this country is very different.
- 51:17Maurio Dawson: So I've never just been that person to represent a flag, because I had family who lived in the South, who had an American flag, and then you go down to, you know, go down the road and you see an American flag with a Confederate flag standing on top of it.
- 51:29Maurio Dawson: So my experience is very different with any American flag.
- 51:32Maurio Dawson: So that representation for me I'm only speaking for me it has a different connotation.
- 51:38Maurio Dawson: I can't speak for other people because people have a different experience, because there are a lot of immigrants who come here who are very proud to be in this country and who are happy to be from the oppressed countries that they've come from.
- 51:47Maurio Dawson: So they are happy to represent that flag.
- 51:48Maurio Dawson: Me, however, my life experience does not represent that, so that's why I don't do it, but I'm speaking for me, that's it.
- 51:55Carmen Lezeth: Are you speaking for you?
- 52:00Maurio Dawson: It's like what you said.
- 52:01Maurio Dawson: No, I just say general.
- 52:05Carmen Lezeth: I still believe and sound like Clinton right now.
- 52:09Carmen Lezeth: I still believe in a place called home.
- 52:10Carmen Lezeth: Look at, that's what all about.
- 52:13Carmen Lezeth: The joy is right.
- 52:14Carmen Lezeth: Like I really always try to see the good, I always want to believe in the best.
- 52:18Carmen Lezeth: I always want to believe that we can be what I need us to be or what I hope us to be.
- 52:21Carmen Lezeth: And what pisses me off is that's been.
- 52:24Carmen Lezeth: It's not even dampened, it's been crushed, and it breaks my heart, you know.
- 52:30Carmen Lezeth: It breaks my heart because I think this country still stands for something.
- 52:33Carmen Lezeth: Yes, for all the people that come here, and white people keep thinking that only black people or brown people keep coming to this country.
- 52:39Carmen Lezeth: White people came to this country too, like, so you know, all this hate to people on the border from the south, all this hatred and anger.
- 52:48Carmen Lezeth: It's just vile and it says more about you than it does to the beautiful Let me just say it this way the beautiful, wonderful people who are doing their best to have a better life and see some Shining light from the United States, possibly to make a decent living.
- 53:04Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you know my, my sister-in-law, baata, is from Poland and she came to this country.
- 53:10Carmen Lezeth: My ex-husband is from Israel and he came to this country and you know what?
- 53:14Carmen Lezeth: Because they have white skin, they didn't feel the hatred and the pain that Latinos and people who come across the border have to deal with.
- 53:23Carmen Lezeth: And what I am angry about is that we do this to each other, that we do this pain and this, this nastiness, to brown and black people.
- 53:32Carmen Lezeth: You know, and and I don't know where along the way, white people started believing that this is their country and that the rest of us, the rest of us, are just fucking visiting.
- 53:41Carmen Lezeth: This is my country.
- 53:43Carmen Lezeth: This is my country.
- 53:44Carmen Lezeth: I was born and raised here and I do.
- 53:45Carmen Lezeth: I love my country, but you guys got to get this shit together, stop being racist.
- 53:50Carmen Lezeth: And and if your first thought is I'm not racist, that means you're racist, because if you were, you wouldn't have to motherfucking say it.
- 53:58Carmen Lezeth: So you got to get it together, and that's the difference.
- 54:02Carmen Lezeth: I used to believe we could get there.
- 54:04Carmen Lezeth: What's happening to me now?
- 54:05Carmen Lezeth: I Don't know.
- 54:07Carmen Lezeth: I don't know and I've never felt like that.
- 54:09Carmen Lezeth: I've never felt like that and that's why I took the flag off my car.
- 54:12Carmen Lezeth: After 30 years, being in LA Makes me say it.
- 54:16Carmen Lezeth: That's my god, sister.
- 54:26Rick Costa: George to K mr Sulu for the Star Trek.
- 54:28Rick Costa: So when that whole Pearl Harbor and he and he was a kid and they were putting yeah, and they were like, go back to your country.
- 54:38Rick Costa: He's like this is my country.
- 54:39Rick Costa: What do you?
- 54:40Carmen Lezeth: want me to go back to.
- 54:40Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's just, you know, like I, I just believe that we are better than we're behaving as individuals and as a society.
- 54:51Carmen Lezeth: You know, and you know, okay, we make fun of whatever I mean.
- 54:54Carmen Lezeth: I know y'all are lovely and awesome people and you know all about the joy.
- 54:57Carmen Lezeth: The whole concept is that idea of hope, that we can See that little light and try to find joy in things instead of hatred.
- 55:04Carmen Lezeth: If you don't understand something, if you're uncomfortable with something, then then deal with that for yourself.
- 55:09Carmen Lezeth: Don't get angry with other people.
- 55:10Carmen Lezeth: Don't fucking get a gun and kill people because you're angry.
- 55:14Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 55:15Carmen Lezeth: You know, don't like just I.
- 55:16Carmen Lezeth: There's just so many things in this country that I wish I could fix by myself, like with it my little magic.
- 55:20Carmen Lezeth: You know, I, I spoke to this woman the other day.
- 55:25Carmen Lezeth: I shouldn't think woman, that's wrong, see.
- 55:27Carmen Lezeth: So I'm trying to.
- 55:27Carmen Lezeth: I spoke to a man who does drag.
- 55:31Carmen Lezeth: Okay, and I'm sorry I Come a man who does drag because I'm not sure what the right pronoun.
- 55:39Rick Costa: I'm sorry, it's a drag queen, I guess.
- 55:42Carmen Lezeth: Look, I'm just being careful because, anyway, the other day, and he was talking about how painful it is To just do this thing that he loved to do, that he used to do all the time in the 80s and the 90s in the clubs, you know what I mean and and just talking about how, like, how, things have changed, that he can't express himself because then people Want to call him gay and call him all these things.
- 56:02Andrea Nunez: and be me, I'm like I Don't even get it, I don't even get it and understand it.
- 56:07Carmen Lezeth: You know just, he's like a person.
- 56:09Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, for sure, I'm just trying to.
- 56:10Carmen Lezeth: I'm trying to get better.
- 56:11Carmen Lezeth: I never asked what the right pronouns are, or whatever, but I think, I think he's just a man of this dress.
- 56:15Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so that's too much on it.
- 56:18Maurio Dawson: I'm overcompensated my wife made a comment.
- 56:20Maurio Dawson: I think she's right.
- 56:22Carmen Lezeth: You know the greatest man I'm given to us in the Bible is that we love others as ourselves to.
- 56:33Rick Costa: Love them, not to judge them them.
- 56:35Rick Costa: So all those who weaponize the Bible are just wrong.
- 56:38Carmen Lezeth: You can make the right one too.
- 56:39Rick Costa: Yeah, exactly.
- 56:41Carmen Lezeth: They villainize immigrants, but if they were to stop work just one day, it would paralyze this country.
- 56:45Carmen Lezeth: Okay, brian, we're not gonna talk about firearms.
- 56:48Carmen Lezeth: I'm so sorry, even brought it up.
- 56:50Carmen Lezeth: Oh, okay, okay, everyone's in the house now.
- 56:52Carmen Lezeth: Okay, yeah, there's a.
- 56:56Carmen Lezeth: There's a.
- 56:57Carmen Lezeth: There's a part in the book.
- 56:59Carmen Lezeth: Everybody's in the book is showing up.
- 57:01Carmen Lezeth: It's a fucking embarrassing out carriers, the guy I was in love with.
- 57:08Maurio Dawson: Yeah.
- 57:11Carmen Lezeth: But he didn't want me, so whatever, and you know.
- 57:14Carmen Lezeth: Baby um yeah, he was in love with me too, but you know he was.
- 57:21Carmen Lezeth: He was a big wig at.
- 57:22Carmen Lezeth: The boys Couldn't date me.
- 57:26Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, we had a little thing going on.
- 57:29Carmen Lezeth: But uh, I love you.
- 57:30Carmen Lezeth: So glad to see you.
- 57:31Carmen Lezeth: That's so weird.
- 57:32Carmen Lezeth: I'm so embarrassed.
- 57:33Carmen Lezeth: All right, I am gonna shut this down, though, unless you guys have some last words.
- 57:38Rick Costa: Well, so my parents came here from Portugal and the whole idea was they wanted a better life.
- 57:42Rick Costa: They were just plain simple farmers over there and they heard you know, you can have a better life, you can make a lot more money, blah, blah, blah.
- 57:48Rick Costa: And so they came here and didn't even speak English, but they learned and they did their thing and then eventually was able to buy their own house, which I still live in today.
- 57:56Rick Costa: And, um, yeah, and they did it right, they did it legally, they became American citizens.
- 58:00Rick Costa: You know, they did it and they did it right, and that's what should.
- 58:04Rick Costa: That's what the should be about.
- 58:05Rick Costa: Yeah and and the differences and I.
- 58:08Carmen Lezeth: It's not a small differences, they are white.
- 58:11Rick Costa: Well, my dad, he was pretty dark, that was questionable to stop right there.
- 58:16Carmen Lezeth: You know what I'm saying.
- 58:16Carmen Lezeth: Let's let's not get into the shades of coloring.
- 58:17Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying it's very different than Somebody who comes from Honduras or Central America, or comes from Haiti, or comes from the Dominican Republic or any brown African-centric country you know what I mean where the indigenous people have a bloodline that gives them a tint of color and features that for some reason In this country we still think is okay to demean Um it's nearly impossible to do it right now.
- 58:45Andrea Nunez: Yeah, really can't.
- 58:45Andrea Nunez: If you are from an undesirable country and you don't have white skin, it's very divisive yeah.
- 58:53Carmen Lezeth: Oh, al, I love you too.
- 58:57Carmen Lezeth: Come on, you're still killing me with that, love you.
- 58:59Carmen Lezeth: Hey, it's in the book.
- 58:59Carmen Lezeth: I can't help it and I guarantee you Rick is gonna go find that chapter.
- 59:03Carmen Lezeth: I was out, huh yeah, but okay, everyone look at, this was really a fun time.
- 59:07Cynthia Lopez: I'm sorry.
- 59:10Carmen Lezeth: I went a little off on things, but you know I'm feeling very comfortable with the crew and everything.
- 59:13Carmen Lezeth: So you know I love Let it out.
- 59:19Maurio Dawson: I know right.
- 59:20Maurio Dawson: Let it out, but you know what's?
- 59:23Carmen Lezeth: so weird.
- 59:23Carmen Lezeth: This is the most people I've ever seen in the room not everyone's.
- 59:27Carmen Lezeth: I'm shook so clearly I should scream more, swear a lot.
- 59:32Carmen Lezeth: Is that what I'm getting?
- 59:34Carmen Lezeth: I feel like they tell you.
- 59:36Cynthia Lopez: When you're gonna swear, so you can take the earpods out.
- 59:40Maurio Dawson: Right, right.
- 59:43Carmen Lezeth: All right, everyone.
- 59:44Carmen Lezeth: Thank you so much for coming by on the show.
