Transcript
- 0:00Thanks for tuning into another heavy podcast. We're here. It's today at COLP
- 0:03First twenty twenty four with kind of from Dumb and Construct. Thanks for joining
- 0:07us. Man, all good, mate, Oh good. So I've got
- 0:10to say I saw your set today or you said I saw two songs.
- 0:13It's the only band I've seen all day, best band the day by far,
- 0:16and the worst the worst, but not very impressive mane Like you guys
- 0:20had a good crowd. They looked like it came across pretty well. Yeah,
- 0:22thanks man. I guess it's kind of like a hometown show these days,
- 0:25so it felt good. Yeah, yeah, courl and it is a
- 0:29great light up and like there's Alpha wol Cross bathe them, you're plenty more
- 0:32like out of all of them, who you're most looking forward to singing for
- 0:35the day, Well obviously, like we're really good friends with the guys in
- 0:38Alpha. Samian's almost like a big brother to our band, so obviously I've
- 0:43got to say them. Yeah. But it's been awesome because we're on tour
- 0:47with them, you are right now and this is the last show of that
- 0:49one, so being able to see them every night it's been good too.
- 0:53So yeah, i'd have to say those two bands, how do you treat
- 0:56someone with this and avateur with him? You're even done? Like you your
- 0:59treators are learning experience, like you sort of watch what they do and sure
- 1:02or is it just fun? Like how do you approach it? Absolutely?
- 1:04I mean like I'm always learning and watching them every night. I feel like
- 1:10sometimes you almost do some secret things that you don't even know about, Like
- 1:14you might do like a certain move that they might do and you're like,
- 1:17oh, I've got to stop doing I've been watching them too much or whatever.
- 1:21But no, But honestly, like I like watching what they do off
- 1:23stage. That's why I learn the most. What they do behind the stage,
- 1:27what they do to set up, how they get off stage, how
- 1:30they can douct themselves around the fans. That's the most important thing because that's
- 1:34what's going to carry yourself as a professional, you know what I mean.
- 1:38So you make a good point. They're like a lot of bands. You
- 1:40get it, get an opportunity like that, and they're just on the piece
- 1:42every day, you know, like treating the jobs for like a yahoo.
- 1:45But you've got to not just soak in the experience, but you've got to
- 1:49learn from it as otherwise, what are you doing right as well? Just
- 1:53go work a normal job or whatever, Like that's that's cool too. So
- 2:00I think one of the best things about cult Fest is the mixing of the
- 2:02international and the Australian bands together. Like how important is it for the Australian
- 2:07music scene, Like you guys are a growing band in the scene. How
- 2:10important is it to band like yourself to have the opportunity of others. It's
- 2:14pretty crazy. I mean, like, you know, two of the bands
- 2:16are from Japan here today and stuff, and like even just being able to
- 2:21meet those guys and like chat to them and stuff. It's I think that's
- 2:24so important for musicians in general, let alone like the people going to the
- 2:28shows. I think that like people miss that a lot. Is like you
- 2:30get to mix with people from all around the world and share your experiences and
- 2:34how the music scene is in their countries and all that sort of stuff.
- 2:38But I guess for the fans it's great too because they're probably used to seeing
- 2:43a lot of the same bands a lot, because there's not a lot of
- 2:46bands in Australia that are on that sort of level. So it's good to
- 2:51have that at one shot and that does look actually a good pointing. Matally,
- 2:54you had to go from Paladus spinning before chatting with him, and the
- 2:58first time he came to Australia, I didn't speak should always been over here
- 3:00with Alpha Wolf and down to the Affliction, and just through those tours he's
- 3:05learned how to speak English. It's just amazing. That's pretty crazy. Yeah,
- 3:08well you look at the ten five six guys. The vocalist is he
- 3:13speaks like well like in English because he's from England, but he also speaks
- 3:17fluent in French as well because he moved out I think when he was on
- 3:22twenty or something and that's when he met those guys and started the band right
- 3:24with them. So it's kind of cool watching them all speak French together.
- 3:29Then he comes over and he sounds like, you know, just some English
- 3:30soco fire. It's cool. You get a bit of both worlds and then
- 3:36you learn a bit of fresh dude. Oh maybe just this is the last
- 3:42show of Throw of Yours, So how did that go? And you've played
- 3:45a big crowds. Yeah, it's been awesome. Honestly, didn't expect much
- 3:49in Perth because he's never been but it was crazy from the get go,
- 3:53and I guess because we've never been as well, Like the fans were so
- 3:57get up to see us. They were almost like, you know, releasing
- 4:00something inside of them, like when they finally got to like hear some of
- 4:03the songs, which kind of made us feed off that energy as well.
- 4:08So it's just this constant thing and it just it went up ex financially droughout
- 4:12during the set. That was crazy. Alleaid's always good, Melbourne's always good,
- 4:15Sydney is always good. Newcastle was great this time, so pretty pretty
- 4:20hit and miss that. Yeah, they are no offense to them, but
- 4:26they pull this did they gotta be good all time? All? But it
- 4:30went yeah, and then like the long distance drive here and this is the
- 4:33best one. Yeah. Cool. And you guys recently releasing singles Switchblade os
- 4:39key Like what is OSD stands for Original soundtrack? Of course it does?
- 4:44What else would it stands for? And it has this something been received by
- 4:47to come and go down? Well that's good. I mean, like we
- 4:50like to push the boundaries and move the needle, I guess, so we
- 4:55don't want to sit in the middle and be mediocre or you know, just
- 4:59something that you can kind of glaze over, Like I want sort of people
- 5:02to say like I like this or I hate this, you know, and
- 5:05either as good. If they're shit talking online, sweet, you're still running
- 5:11up our streams. You liking it, they'll come and buy a shirt.
- 5:14So yeah, it's been great. I feel like it's a pretty divisive track,
- 5:17but that's what we're about. And yeah, cool here to stay.
- 5:23It's taken from the upcoming album Angel Killer zero, which is about on April
- 5:27twenty six, So is that a good soldic representation or what do you expect?
- 5:30I feel like the single Switchblade is probably the most different on the album.
- 5:34I feel like the album is a mix between the self titled album and
- 5:40DCX two, which was the EP with the four tracks. It's a good
- 5:43blend of that. It kind of got the electronic blends of DCX two,
- 5:46but the aggressiveness and the breakdowns of the self titled YEP. So yeah,
- 5:50I feel like it's it's the most Diamond Construct sound we've got. Yeah,
- 5:55this one. If you have to describe the diamond Construct sound, what would
- 5:59it be? Good question? The craziest, weirdest guitar sounds that should not
- 6:04be in a song, I guess aggressive lyrics and just like crazy groove beats.
- 6:11I guess, yeah, a mix of rap and metal at all.
- 6:15And you're going to be released any more songs from the album, Yeah,
- 6:17we've probably got I think we've got one more that we might do before we
- 6:21drop the album, but we're sort of still deciding on what we're doing with
- 6:25that. And yeah, keep busy after that. Two of the hell out
- 6:29of It. Hell it sounds like a pretty personal record too, like an
- 6:32explores scenes, connect its loneliness, heartbreak and substance. You say it was
- 6:38difficult, right, being that personal. Yeah, it really is, and
- 6:42honestly, like I think some of the songs go really really deep, and
- 6:46those ones are kind of like the hardest ones that we sing live. Like
- 6:49even on DCX two we had Enigma, which is like a really close personal
- 6:54song to myself and that, but we do have the fun songs as well.
- 6:57I like to try and balance it out, yeah, because for me,
- 7:00metal is not always doom and gloom. You've got parts of that,
- 7:03yes, and it's good to tap into that. But you know, you've
- 7:08been all these kind of shows and everyone's having fun, so why don't you
- 7:11sing some fun songs too good. Yeah, so that's what we're all about.
- 7:15Kind of the contrast and the blend of both sweet Yeah and what's next
- 7:17to Diamond Construct Bay you mentioned throwing your arses off, what you've got to
- 7:20do? Yeah, I guess we'll head out on tour in May. I
- 7:25think that we'll announce soon and then we'll probably try and do a headline tour
- 7:29towards the back end of the year and Europe. If you're listening, let's
- 7:32go over ready to gain Yeah's beautiful better Well, thanks very much for trying.
- 7:36The album, Angel Kill zero is out April twenty six. Yeah,
- 7:40but it's the best place. What's your best socials people to learn about it,
- 7:43Instagram and learn about it Spotify to listen to it the Everydy standard.
