- 0:40Speaker 1: Bake Welcome back, Glowed to have your left us here
- 0:45Speaker 1: on a Tuesday. Little gypsy kings Man, you don't move
- 0:53Speaker 1: your dad, I can't help you. Tho Sports from the
- 0:56Speaker 1: program brought to you by Central Texas Sports Madame. We've
- 1:01Speaker 1: got stuff today, lots of stuff. We've been here from
- 1:05Speaker 1: baseball coach Michael Early coming up. He talked to the
- 1:08Speaker 1: media Friday. We've got a high school report Chase Besantes.
- 1:13Speaker 1: We're going to hear from him Mallory in the second hour,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and I'm going to replay an interview we did this summer,
- 1:23Speaker 1: my couple of guys Martin Porter David Goggin called buzz
- 1:29Speaker 1: me in the Untold Story of Record Plant Studios. It's
- 1:33Speaker 1: wild crazy stuff. So Fhon the neighbor, wake the kids.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oklahoma State, and I'm about to talk about Mike Gundy.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You should have heard by now, but if you don't,
- 1:47Speaker 1: he's out in his twenty first year at Oklahoma State,
- 1:52Speaker 1: fifty eight, the second longest tenured FBS coach. They have
- 1:58Speaker 1: midgod the last two years they're three and nine. Last
- 2:01Speaker 1: year one and two and coming off a loss to Tulsa.
- 2:07Speaker 1: In twenty one years, he's had two losing seasons, eight
- 2:14Speaker 1: double digit wins, eighteen Bowl appearances, five New York six games.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Thirty five of his fifty eight years has been at
- 2:26Speaker 1: Oklahoma State as a player, assistant or a head coach.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Oklahoma State had had four winning seasons in the sixteen
- 2:37Speaker 1: years before Gundy got there. He lost his first year,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and then it had had eighteen straight winning seasons, which
- 2:48Speaker 1: is the ninth longest in NC Double A history. And yes,
- 2:53Speaker 1: we're going to play the rant, but not until five o'clock. Okay,
- 2:59Speaker 1: So tell your friends five o'clock. There he is He's
- 3:04Speaker 1: never getting over that his son did an impression that
- 3:09Speaker 1: went viral several years ago.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Uh.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Not good news for the Sooners down the road in Norman,
- 3:19Speaker 1: John Matteir has suffered a thumb injury and could miss
- 3:24Speaker 1: three to four weeks. We'll have surgery tomorrow. Stories indicate
- 3:31Speaker 1: Oklahoma and its medical staff been working to find the
- 3:33Speaker 1: best course of treatment to ensure a healthy return. The
- 3:38Speaker 1: university confirming the injury after it was announced he will
- 3:42Speaker 1: have surgery on his throwing hand. On his thumb, he
- 3:47Speaker 1: injured it in the first quarter of the Auburn game
- 3:51Speaker 1: and still went twenty four thirty six for two hundred
- 3:54Speaker 1: and seventy one yards in a touchdown and scored the
- 3:56Speaker 1: winning touchdown. Running the football is a huge loss for
- 4:02Speaker 1: Brent Venables and the Sooners. TCU wide receiver Eric McCallister,
- 4:08Speaker 1: who I talked about yesterday with the writers, is this
- 4:11Speaker 1: week's Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Player of the Week.
- 4:17Speaker 1: McAllister had two hundred and fifty four receiving yards and
- 4:22Speaker 1: three touchdowns.
- 4:23Speaker 5: That is the second most in school history.
- 4:26Speaker 1: He would have had over three hundred yards and four
- 4:31Speaker 1: touchdowns if the officials hadn't blown an obvious touchdown pass
- 4:37Speaker 1: catch in the second half. Bet MGM has released its
- 4:42Speaker 1: odds to win a national championship. You ready, Ohio State
- 4:50Speaker 1: plus five point fifty, Penn State plus six hundred, Georgia, Texas,
- 4:59Speaker 1: Oregon plus seven hundred, LSU plus one thousand, Alabama plus
- 5:07Speaker 1: thirteen hundred The U apparently they don't like the coach either,
- 5:14Speaker 1: plus fifteen hundred. Oklahoma was plus fifteen hundred, but that's
- 5:20Speaker 1: going down after the Materier injury and A and M
- 5:24Speaker 1: stays where they were a couple of weeks ago when
- 5:27Speaker 1: we talked about this at plus eighteen hundred. Detroit, once
- 5:33Speaker 1: holder of the most comfortable division lead in baseball, could
- 5:40Speaker 1: have the biggest collapse in the history of Major League Baseball.
- 5:45Speaker 1: On July eighth, Detroit led Cleveland by fifteen and a
- 5:51Speaker 1: half games. They lead by one game starting tonight. The
- 6:00Speaker 1: race would be the biggest free fall in modern baseball history.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Teams have come back from fifteen games before three times,
- 6:10Speaker 1: but never.
- 6:10Speaker 5: From fifteen and a half.
- 6:13Speaker 1: The good news for the Tigers, Terrek Scubel is on
- 6:17Speaker 1: the mound tonight. The bad news, Oh my gosh, if
- 6:21Speaker 1: Terrek scooball loses this game. Not good, Yeah, Williams. They've
- 6:32Speaker 1: been pitching like crazy. That's why Cleveland's gotten back in it.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The Astros are on the left coast. They're in Sacramento,
- 6:38Speaker 1: play in Oakland late tonight. I'm assuming we're going to
- 6:41Speaker 1: carry that game. Yes, the Rangers are hosting the Twins.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't matter, but I mentioned that the
- 6:53Speaker 1: Astros are playing, so I'm mentioning that the Rangers are
- 6:55Speaker 1: playing Ryder Cup. So Ryder Cup is supposed to start
- 7:04Speaker 1: Friday morning. There's rocky weather forecast for Thursday, so the
- 7:10Speaker 1: opening ceremony, instead of being Thursday, have been moved to
- 7:16Speaker 1: tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock. Traditionally, the Ryder Cup captains
- 7:24Speaker 1: announced their pairings for the first session at the opening ceremony,
- 7:28Speaker 1: but since it's a day and a half before the
- 7:30Speaker 1: matches begin, they're going to announce their pairings at three
- 7:35Speaker 1: o'clock Thursday at a location TVD. My guess is the
- 7:41Speaker 1: weather will be perfect and everything will be great, but
- 7:43Speaker 1: they're moving it because, you know, weather people said it
- 7:48Speaker 1: might rain. The rest of the week remains unchanged. Foursome's
- 7:55Speaker 1: begin Friday morning at six ten am. Texas time for
- 8:00Speaker 1: ball event to follow same schedule Saturday, singles matches Sunday,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and of course it's televised USA Network Friday all day.
- 8:14Speaker 1: NBC takes over Saturday all day and Sunday from eleven
- 8:20Speaker 1: to five. The first singles match will start at eleven
- 8:24Speaker 1: two am. That would be ten oh two am Texas
- 8:29Speaker 1: time in CAP.
- 8:30Speaker 5: You're keeping score about that. So a couple of.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Things Next Tuesday. John Bacon, author of one of the
- 8:42Speaker 1: best books I have read in a long time, called
- 8:47Speaker 1: The Gales of November, he will join me next Tuesday.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It's on the Reck of the Edmund Fitzgerald Thursday. This
- 8:56Speaker 1: Thursday from Alaska, Matt, what's the guy's name? He's a
- 9:00Speaker 1: PR guy and I don't know his name, Matt, So
- 9:05Speaker 1: we got two matts.
- 9:06Speaker 5: I'm gonna be confused. Matt Johnson.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I don't know what his title is, but it is
- 9:12Speaker 1: Fat Bear Week in Alaska, Okay. So on the Outdoor
- 9:16Speaker 1: Show Thursday, Matt Johnson is going to talk to us about.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Fat Bear Week.
- 9:22Speaker 1: If you don't know what Fat Bear Week is, Like
- 9:25Speaker 1: everything else, you can find it on the innerweb and
- 9:30Speaker 1: it's worth it. It's these gigantic grizzly bears catching salmon,
- 9:37Speaker 1: and fans vote on their favorite grizz Who is the
- 9:41Speaker 1: rating champ? Do we know because I know.
- 9:45Speaker 5: That he's he's she is back? Yeah?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Grazer, how much estimated weight? They don't, They just have
- 9:57Speaker 1: to estimate. Some of these stomachs are dragging under the
- 10:00Speaker 1: water while they're you know, walking in the river. I mean,
- 10:03Speaker 1: these are big, fat grizzly bears. Grazer estimated over twelve
- 10:13Speaker 1: hundred pounds. That's a lot of salmon, my friends.
- 10:19Speaker 5: And the runner up was who Chunk? That's right?
- 10:22Speaker 1: And Chunk may weigh more this year. Right, Okay, We're
- 10:25Speaker 1: going to see what the voting says. Matt will have
- 10:28Speaker 1: an update on Thursday. It is fat Bear Week in Alaska,
- 10:32Speaker 1: so believe me, some of us identify with fat Bear Week. Yeah,
- 10:39Speaker 1: voting opens today. Hey, if you don't like the way
- 10:44Speaker 1: things are and you don't vote, don't complain. You know
- 10:49Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You've got no complaint. If you don't
- 10:53Speaker 1: like the way things are, you might want Bear six nine.
- 10:59Speaker 1: You might want you might want Grazier. You might want
- 11:02Speaker 1: a new bear coming in, some new blood right into
- 11:07Speaker 1: the fold. It's an all time record year for salmon.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So these griz are fat and happy right now. We'll
- 11:17Speaker 1: talk about that on Thursday. All right, we've just talked
- 11:22Speaker 1: Major League Baseball. We're going to talk college baseball after.
- 11:25Speaker 5: The final lap. Brought to you by and Co Insurance.
- 11:29Speaker 6: Enco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing

- 11:55Speaker 6: co Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 12:01Speaker 7: NASCAR Truck Series race recap from New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
- 12:04Speaker 5: I'm Kerry Murphy.
- 12:05Speaker 7: Corey Heim started on the poll, led one hundred and
- 12:07Speaker 7: twenty four of the one hundred and seventy five laps,
- 12:10Speaker 7: swept both of the stages to win his ninth race
- 12:13Speaker 7: of the season. I'd say that's total domination.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I haven't really thought about it a
- 12:18Speaker 4: whole lot. Yet I think it's more of a looking
- 12:22Speaker 4: back in hindsight thing. You know, you look back and
- 12:24Speaker 4: you know you're like, dang, like this was an incredible
- 12:27Speaker 4: opportunity with an incredible team, and you know it's just
- 12:29Speaker 4: something you look back on and say, like, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 4: that was just everything it was was right, you know.
- 12:34Speaker 4: I mean I feel like I've I've had enough experience
- 12:36Speaker 4: at this point in my career to go out and
- 12:37Speaker 4: you know, constantly contend for race wins in the Truck
- 12:40Speaker 4: Series and my team, you know as well just giving
- 12:42Speaker 4: me the equipment you know, necessary to do that. So yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 4: I mean it's a special feeling now. I know it
- 12:48Speaker 4: will be a special feeling when the year's over. Regreldless
- 12:50Speaker 4: a result, but the goal, you know, so it remains
- 12:52Speaker 4: the same, just trying to win the championship.
- 12:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:54Speaker 4: I mean, for the most part, I think our goal
- 12:55Speaker 4: after we won Darlington the first race of the playoffs
- 12:58Speaker 4: was to continue to get more playoff points. So to
- 13:00Speaker 4: come here and kind of sweep the sweep the deal
- 13:02Speaker 4: and get seven could potentially mean a lot. I hope
- 13:05Speaker 4: it doesn't and we're easily in. But every single playofform
- 13:08Speaker 4: and I mean it comes down to a very very
- 13:10Speaker 4: few amount of points. You know, as most snow.
- 13:12Speaker 7: All right, let's see here. Chandler Smith was second, followed
- 13:14Speaker 7: by Lane Riggs, Giovanni Rugierio, and Timeajeski rounds out the
- 13:18Speaker 7: top five. Up next for the NASCAR Truck Series is
- 13:21Speaker 7: the Charlotte Rovo Road Course, going down Friday, October third,
- 13:25Speaker 7: three thirty pm Eastern on FS one.
- 13:27Speaker 5: You are on the final app find.

- 14:58Speaker 5: Im Ho, that's an infeity. Is there another band anywhere
- 15:17Speaker 5: that can get you.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Out of your season faster than the Gypsy Kings can?
- 15:22Speaker 13: Seriously?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Welcome back, thanks for being with us. So I meant
- 15:31Speaker 1: to say this in our headlines and the story got
- 15:34Speaker 1: caught up in the innverse somewhere. But Major League Baseball
- 15:38Speaker 1: is going to use automated ball strike Challenge system next year.
- 15:42Speaker 5: All season.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Each team will get two challenges and can keep them
- 15:47Speaker 1: if they're successful. They can only be initiated by the pitcher,
- 15:52Speaker 1: catcher or batter and it has to be right after
- 15:56Speaker 1: the pitch the signal of challenge, the pitcher, catcher, or
- 16:00Speaker 1: batter will tap his hat to let the umpire know
- 16:03Speaker 1: no help for the dugout or other players is going
- 16:06Speaker 1: to be allowed. In each extra inning, a team will
- 16:10Speaker 1: be awarded a challenge if it doesn't have any left.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I wish they'd do this in college baseball. I think
- 16:19Speaker 1: it would change things greatly. I mean greatly, you know,
- 16:25Speaker 1: without Angel Hernandez anymore. I mean, these guys are successful.
- 16:31Speaker 1: They say about ninety two percent of the time, which
- 16:33Speaker 1: is pretty amazing when you think about it. But sometimes
- 16:36Speaker 1: those eight percent, those are game changing calls, you know
- 16:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Game changing?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Okay, speaking of baseball, little fall baseball at A and
- 16:48Speaker 1: M Michael Early visited with the media on Friday.
- 16:51Speaker 14: Do you guys begin Paul practices this week? What is
- 16:55Speaker 14: the move like in the clubhouse and how is it
- 16:57Speaker 14: different from this offseason or least?
- 17:01Speaker 13: Hey, it's no, it's it's relatively the same.
- 17:03Speaker 15: I think from a standpoint, everyone's excited, everyone's excited to
- 17:06Speaker 15: get going, and the key is to keep that enthusiasm
- 17:10Speaker 15: throughout the year, because how you feel the first day
- 17:12Speaker 15: can be different than you feel the fourth day. Fifth
- 17:14Speaker 15: day and one hundred and fifth days. So it's about
- 17:16Speaker 15: just maintaining that level of focus and just true joy
- 17:20Speaker 15: and want to be out here because the first day
- 17:22Speaker 15: you feel great as far as health.
- 17:23Speaker 13: And all of that.
- 17:24Speaker 15: And it's about doing the same thing over and over
- 17:27Speaker 15: again and no matter what the day is.
- 17:30Speaker 14: How do you think your personal approach has changed from
- 17:33Speaker 14: your one to year two?
- 17:34Speaker 13: Well, you learn and growing everything you do.
- 17:35Speaker 15: So I feel more comfortable sitting here than I did,
- 17:39Speaker 15: not necessarily talking to you guys, but just you know,
- 17:41Speaker 15: you do something new, you do something new right, You
- 17:43Speaker 15: got to kind of learn on the job. But I'm
- 17:45Speaker 15: very confident and what we're gonna do is coaching staff
- 17:47Speaker 15: and his team and a lot of that's because of
- 17:49Speaker 15: my assistant coaches and everyone in the organization pulled in
- 17:52Speaker 15: the same direction.
- 17:53Speaker 16: So do you turn?
- 17:54Speaker 14: Do you turn the page right now? Last years got
- 17:57Speaker 14: to wait to spring and play games. I mean, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 14: how do you pull it up?
- 18:01Speaker 13: I personally and all of us like last year's last year.
- 18:04Speaker 15: I mean, I have no no comment on last year.
- 18:07Speaker 15: It is what it is, and uh, you know, we
- 18:09Speaker 15: learned from things.
- 18:10Speaker 13: But I'm on.
- 18:10Speaker 15: I'm onto this team in this season, and and we're
- 18:13Speaker 15: doing the right stuff to get these guys prepared to play.
- 18:15Speaker 15: And it's credits our players for you know, to this
- 18:17Speaker 15: point doing exactly what we want them to do. So
- 18:19Speaker 15: I've you know, last year's done and we're moving forward
- 18:22Speaker 15: and we're looking forward. This a whole new team, a
- 18:24Speaker 15: whole new team with a lot of new faces, and
- 18:26Speaker 15: I'm focused on those guys.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Speak about the new team there, But how how easy
- 18:30Speaker 1: are how challenging is to mesh you know, guys together
- 18:33Speaker 1: in like the transportal era like this, you know kind
- 18:35Speaker 1: of everybody's working together.
- 18:36Speaker 15: I've never found it to be tough because you bring
- 18:38Speaker 15: in the right guys and there's pooral guys that we've
- 18:41Speaker 15: started to recruit, or even high school kids that you know,
- 18:44Speaker 15: when you recruit a kid, it's a two way recruitment
- 18:46Speaker 15: for me, and it always has been. So we're bringing
- 18:48Speaker 15: in the right guys and it's been easy transition, and
- 18:51Speaker 15: once they're here for a day or two, you feel
- 18:52Speaker 15: like they've been here for three or four years.
- 18:54Speaker 14: So what are your objections going on the plane?
- 18:56Speaker 12: What?
- 18:56Speaker 14: What? What?
- 18:57Speaker 8: What?
- 18:57Speaker 14: What does the team to get out with.
- 19:00Speaker 17: The script?
- 19:01Speaker 8: Pa? Script?
- 19:02Speaker 15: I mean not just from a rep standpoint. I mean,
- 19:04Speaker 15: you got to be good at baseball. You got to
- 19:05Speaker 15: play baseball. It's not a sport you can just drill, right,
- 19:09Speaker 15: so you get those game reps.
- 19:10Speaker 13: But we're just focused on doing everything right. We want
- 19:13Speaker 13: to do.
- 19:13Speaker 15: We want to be uncommon, we want to do the
- 19:15Speaker 15: you know, uncommon things uncommonly. Well, like that is our focus.
- 19:19Speaker 15: Everything we do is based on that. And it's not
- 19:21Speaker 15: just playing. It's how you it's how you keep your locker,
- 19:24Speaker 15: it's how you show up to class, it's how you walk.
- 19:26Speaker 13: Into the building to how you get a bunt down.
- 19:29Speaker 15: And that's our focus, and that's what you get out
- 19:31Speaker 15: of the fall because you want to be able to
- 19:32Speaker 15: do all those things when the games don't count, so
- 19:34Speaker 15: to speak. So when you get there, you've done it
- 19:36Speaker 15: before and the repetition's there and it just comes second
- 19:39Speaker 15: nature to and you do what you do.
- 19:42Speaker 14: When it comes to the pitching staff, you guys lost,
- 19:44Speaker 14: guys like Brigger and Lampkin. So where does the staff
- 19:47Speaker 14: sit on day one? And what are you hoping to
- 19:49Speaker 14: see from the guys who revive for spots and the rotation?
- 19:52Speaker 15: And it's gonna be a battle, right, and we got
- 19:54Speaker 15: a We got a lot of good players that returned.
- 19:56Speaker 15: Not only older guys that return, like we get Shane back,
- 19:59Speaker 15: we get west And back, we get fresh cornback, and
- 20:02Speaker 15: we also get those guys that were freshman last year
- 20:04Speaker 15: that I thought threw really well for freshman, Gavin Lyons,
- 20:07Speaker 15: Aiden Simms, Caden McCoy.
- 20:09Speaker 13: And then you know, he did.
- 20:10Speaker 15: A really good job in the transfer portal getting guys
- 20:12Speaker 15: that can really pitch.
- 20:13Speaker 13: So it's gonna be a battle, it's gonna be a grime.
- 20:15Speaker 15: There's no guaranteed spot, there's no I don't have a
- 20:18Speaker 15: Friday Guy, Saturday Guy, Tuesday closer set up guys.
- 20:21Speaker 13: So it's about competition.
- 20:22Speaker 15: What I want to see his strikes and being competitive
- 20:24Speaker 15: and you know, just competing on a day to day basis.
- 20:27Speaker 14: You mentioned Shane Sadeo as he comes back from injury.
- 20:30Speaker 14: Where is he at as far as his rehout process
- 20:32Speaker 14: and what would plan be for him this fall?
- 20:34Speaker 15: So I think two days ago he was like a
- 20:37Speaker 15: year anniversary and yesterday through a fifteen pitch bullpen was awesome,
- 20:41Speaker 15: and you know he's on his progression. So I want
- 20:44Speaker 15: to think you would see him live against one of
- 20:47Speaker 15: the outside opponents, but possibly towards the end of hour
- 20:50Speaker 15: fall and then he'll continue to throw some live into November,
- 20:54Speaker 15: probably just to hour hitters. But we want to make
- 20:56Speaker 15: sure it's a balance if he needs to pitch because
- 20:58Speaker 15: it's been a really long time, but also we need
- 21:00Speaker 15: him to be healthy, so we're gonna we're gonna balance
- 21:02Speaker 15: that and make sure we're doing all the right stuff
- 21:04Speaker 15: for what's best for Shane in his arm and then
- 21:07Speaker 15: what's best for Shane and getting him ready to play
- 21:09Speaker 15: in a baseball game.
- 21:10Speaker 1: When you replace it, obviously you talk about the talent
- 21:12Speaker 1: and replacing it leadership wise, you lost a lot of
- 21:15Speaker 1: core culture guys there.
- 21:16Speaker 18: How does that work as you come into this topic
- 21:19Speaker 18: year trying to find.
- 21:19Speaker 13: Those leaders here?
- 21:21Speaker 15: I think leadership from players comes two ways. It's like
- 21:23Speaker 15: empowerment from the coach a little bit, and then guys
- 21:25Speaker 15: taking over and running with it and just leading by
- 21:28Speaker 15: what they do. And I think leadership comes in many
- 21:30Speaker 15: forms in fashion, some guys are vocal, some guys just
- 21:33Speaker 15: get it done. The leadership can come from a freshman,
- 21:35Speaker 15: like we got a couple that worked really really hard
- 21:37Speaker 15: and pulling guys with you and holding guys accountable, so
- 21:40Speaker 15: that happens a little bit organically.
- 21:42Speaker 13: There's obviously guys you'd like to be your.
- 21:44Speaker 15: Leaders, but a lot of that sorts of self out
- 21:47Speaker 15: in the clubhouse.
- 21:49Speaker 5: You thoughts of the president's stepping.
- 21:50Speaker 15: Down general, I appreciate the opportunity he gave to me
- 21:56Speaker 15: and being here.
- 21:57Speaker 13: But other than that, man, I'm just here to talk
- 21:59Speaker 13: about baseball.
- 22:01Speaker 14: Ask you about Shane bler goat returning commentary, Gabu Rokovic.
- 22:04Speaker 14: How has he looked? What is his health status?
- 22:06Speaker 19: His fall get started?
- 22:07Speaker 15: Gavin looks really good, really good, Like if you saw
- 22:10Speaker 15: him hit, you want to know anything was wrong. So
- 22:13Speaker 15: we're gonna be He's still on a plan. He's been
- 22:15Speaker 15: doing some high speed machine stuff. Been fully cleared to
- 22:19Speaker 15: hit from an at bat standpoint like today, not that
- 22:23Speaker 15: he would get a multiple batschball not playing them any innings,
- 22:26Speaker 15: but he'll go one at bat today, Sunday, he'll get
- 22:29Speaker 15: two at bats and we'll kind of, you know, go
- 22:32Speaker 15: from there and see how it is. I think the
- 22:34Speaker 15: only there's gonna be a point where he's gonna be
- 22:37Speaker 15: getting full at bats, and that should come soon. One
- 22:40Speaker 15: thing we're not gonna risk, I think in the fall.
- 22:42Speaker 15: We're definitely on a risk is he won't run bases,
- 22:44Speaker 15: and I don't want him diving just I think the shoulder.
- 22:47Speaker 15: As long as we can go on that shoulder not
- 22:49Speaker 15: having impact, he'll be fine. He'll be able to catch
- 22:51Speaker 15: up running the bases when we get back in January
- 22:53Speaker 15: and dives and stuff like that. But he's about you know,
- 22:56Speaker 15: I don't want to say he's full go, but he's
- 22:57Speaker 15: you know, seventy percent go.
- 22:59Speaker 13: But at the plate, he's gonna swing it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You know, if you guys playing in the KA COB
- 23:02Speaker 1: League and other summer leagues, how valuable is that working?
- 23:05Speaker 13: How much like assessment and attention do you pay that
- 23:07Speaker 13: through the offseason. I think it's good. I think it
- 23:10Speaker 13: can build confidence.
- 23:11Speaker 15: Like Bear did really well out there, Kopian did really
- 23:14Speaker 15: well out there. I think, like I said earlier, like
- 23:16Speaker 15: playing baseball helps you play baseball, and if if your
- 23:19Speaker 15: health and your body and the season allows you to
- 23:21Speaker 15: play summer ball, I really like it. And some guys
- 23:24Speaker 15: we weigh like some of these young pitchers, like how
- 23:26Speaker 15: much did they throw? Is it more beneficial for them
- 23:28Speaker 15: to put on weight? TK played really well in California.
- 23:32Speaker 13: Far played out there.
- 23:33Speaker 15: So I think if you're healthy and able to play,
- 23:35Speaker 15: and it's not a detriment to your strength. If we
- 23:37Speaker 15: think strength is more important to you than playing, I
- 23:40Speaker 15: think it's a great thing. But I think, you know,
- 23:41Speaker 15: bar did an awesome job, and obviously Chris did an
- 23:44Speaker 15: awesome job.
- 23:44Speaker 1: So that extra workload, Like, is that you handle them
- 23:47Speaker 1: differently from this copy of year, like you know, from
- 23:49Speaker 1: the extra work or is it kind of enough time
- 23:51Speaker 1: to reset get ready for this type of year?
- 23:52Speaker 15: It's time to reset, time to play, like you play
- 23:54Speaker 15: here like there's no this isn't the big leagues, this
- 23:56Speaker 15: ain't the minor leagues, like it's these guys are young,
- 23:59Speaker 15: this is college baseball. Like you step in and you're
- 24:01Speaker 15: doing the same stuff just like everyone else did anything
- 24:04Speaker 15: else coach.
- 24:05Speaker 14: To get enough great hair last year that you got
- 24:07Speaker 14: to use hair cover or you.
- 24:08Speaker 13: Okay, no, man, I feel I feel better than ever.
- 24:11Speaker 15: I feel like I you know, this offseason, I went
- 24:13Speaker 15: down in age, so we're we're fully energized and ready
- 24:16Speaker 15: to go. So it was I loved everything that's happened
- 24:20Speaker 15: to me at this point in my life because I
- 24:21Speaker 15: think everything that happens to you happens for a reason.
- 24:23Speaker 15: So I feel great, man, I feel like I could
- 24:26Speaker 15: actually go out and play today.
- 24:27Speaker 14: So transfers a little dead.
- 24:30Speaker 20: What did you see from the Harland transfer Chris so far?
- 24:33Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 24:33Speaker 13: Speaking of Chris, he's been great.
- 24:34Speaker 15: He's been awesome, awesome teammate, uh, freaking beast in the
- 24:38Speaker 15: weight room, everything you think of he He's had a
- 24:41Speaker 15: little setback.
- 24:42Speaker 13: He had has a.
- 24:43Speaker 15: Small fracture in his right hand, so he will be
- 24:46Speaker 15: out for the fall at least hitting. He's taking ground balls.
- 24:49Speaker 15: It's not anything that needs surgery, just something he needs
- 24:53Speaker 15: four weeks to heal.
- 24:55Speaker 13: You got to see him hit for two weeks. It
- 24:57Speaker 13: was great.
- 24:58Speaker 15: It was just one of those things he played then
- 25:00Speaker 15: played summer. They said, just maybe just an over usage deal.
- 25:04Speaker 15: Nothing major, nothing to be overly concerned about, especially for
- 25:08Speaker 15: me as a hitter, being his top hand as opposed
- 25:10Speaker 15: to his bottom hand. Other than that, I want to
- 25:12Speaker 15: let you guys know that. But other than that, he
- 25:14Speaker 15: is awesome, fitting, great. The guy's love him. He's really
- 25:17Speaker 15: easy to respect. He came in and did what you
- 25:20Speaker 15: should do as a new guy. I want to say
- 25:21Speaker 15: he kept his mouth shut, so to speak. He's a
- 25:23Speaker 15: normal guy, and he worked hard and he's a guy
- 25:25Speaker 15: that I that I've talked to, like he needs to
- 25:27Speaker 15: be a leader on this team. Like what he does
- 25:29Speaker 15: is contagious. He works extremely hard. And yeah, I'm just
- 25:33Speaker 15: really glad he's here. I mean he was portal comes
- 25:36Speaker 15: out our personal opinion and a lot we thought he
- 25:38Speaker 15: was the best not only hitter in.
- 25:40Speaker 13: The portal, but overall player in the portal.
- 25:42Speaker 15: And getting a guy like that in your program not
- 25:44Speaker 15: only because he's a good player, but when we met
- 25:46Speaker 15: him on the visitor, like, Okay, this guy fits what
- 25:48Speaker 15: we do.
- 25:49Speaker 13: He fits Texas A.
- 25:50Speaker 15: And M, and we think he's gonna make us really
- 25:51Speaker 15: really good.
- 25:53Speaker 13: This his right hand.
- 25:54Speaker 14: And then last week for the GOAJA, I know you're
- 25:56Speaker 14: an Indiana guy. Last league beating good, I know you
- 26:00Speaker 14: and your son went up there. What was that experience?
- 26:02Speaker 13: Like that was all? I mean, that was absolutely incredible.
- 26:05Speaker 15: I mean you know this, I mean, that's that's the
- 26:08Speaker 15: second time I've ever rooted against Notre Dame. I mean
- 26:10Speaker 15: I was up there with all the Aggie's and it
- 26:11Speaker 15: was it was amazing. And then what a what a
- 26:14Speaker 15: cool game to watch? And so we were up there,
- 26:17Speaker 15: they had all it.
- 26:18Speaker 13: A and M.
- 26:18Speaker 15: We were kind of up in almost a U shape
- 26:20Speaker 15: in the upper bowl and I'm I have some family
- 26:23Speaker 15: by me that's Notre Dame fan, so you know, the
- 26:25Speaker 15: whole game there, and then I've never seen, you know,
- 26:28Speaker 15: the air get taken out of the stadium, like hearing
- 26:31Speaker 15: it just stop. And then the touchdown was over there,
- 26:34Speaker 15: so we're over here, so we are a little bit delayed.
- 26:37Speaker 13: So he gets it. You don't really know if he
- 26:38Speaker 13: has it.
- 26:39Speaker 15: And you look at the video board and you look back,
- 26:40Speaker 15: and he got it and it was just an explosion
- 26:42Speaker 15: from the upper deck.
- 26:43Speaker 13: So that was. That was cool. So about you know,
- 26:46Speaker 13: moving forward, I'll be rooting for both teams again. But
- 26:48Speaker 13: it was.
- 26:49Speaker 15: It was unbelievable. I mean, the fan base traveling there
- 26:52Speaker 15: was great. I had an awesome time, and I just
- 26:54Speaker 15: I just a huge fan of coach Alca, like just
- 26:56Speaker 15: massive fan of him and what he's doing. And I
- 26:59Speaker 15: love seeing Mark Jones on kickoff just making sure he
- 27:02Speaker 15: stays healthy and all those things.
- 27:04Speaker 13: But yeah, it was, it was. It was a super cool.
- 27:06Speaker 15: Experience and I'm just really glad that A and M
- 27:09Speaker 15: came out on top.
- 27:10Speaker 1: That's Mike, Carly baseball coach from Friday with fall ball
- 27:14Speaker 1: getting under way. Coming up, we're going to have a
- 27:17Speaker 1: high school report. We're going to hear from Chase Besantis,
- 27:22Speaker 1: We're going to hear from Mike Gundy as only Mike
- 27:25Speaker 1: Gundy can do. Coming up a little after the top
- 27:29Speaker 1: of the hour at five o'clock, Scottland Dennon will join
- 27:34Speaker 1: us tomorrow on the program. And Thursday it's Fat Bear
- 27:42Speaker 1: Week in Alaska and we've got a fat bear expert
- 27:45Speaker 1: on there and how do you become a fat bear expert?
- 27:50Speaker 1: You got to go to school, kids, you got to
- 27:52Speaker 1: study to be a fat bear expert. And Friday, Young
- 27:57Speaker 1: Ryan is going to be down at the icebox reporting
- 28:04Speaker 1: on the Savannah Bananas, who are playing Friday night in Houston.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Will We'll be here in studio. Ryan will be.
- 28:14Speaker 1: At the ice Box in Houston reporting on the Savannah
- 28:18Speaker 1: Bananas and Kirk polls Tony Catalina as usual on Friday.
- 28:27Speaker 1: So it's been an interesting process dealing with the publicity
- 28:37Speaker 1: people of the Savannah Bananas the last few days.
- 28:41Speaker 5: And I'll leave it at that. We'll leave it at that, but.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I think Louis is going down with Ryan. I think
- 28:50Speaker 1: there's several people here from the station that are going
- 28:56Speaker 1: to see the Savannah bananas on. Daniel's the one that
- 29:02Speaker 1: kind of put it all together. Daniel has the hookup
- 29:06Speaker 1: and I don't know what that hookup is, but Daniel's
- 29:10Speaker 1: got a hookup. And by the way, you really need
- 29:14Speaker 1: a hookup to see the Savana bananas because it will
- 29:18Speaker 1: be full. At Dyke and Park on Friday evening. Galleria Spa, Galeria,
- 29:28Speaker 1: Day Spa, Galeria, Spa Salon. If it's got Galeria on
- 29:32Speaker 1: it that name, you know it's magical. They've won every
- 29:36Speaker 1: Best of award that you can possibly win in this
- 29:41Speaker 1: area and beyond, just because of how they put together spas,
- 29:46Speaker 1: because you know, when you go to spas, the idea
- 29:50Speaker 1: is to relax, and at Galeria, it's just kind of
- 29:56Speaker 1: built in when you walk in the door. Whether you're
- 29:59Speaker 1: going from Manny Petty at the day Spa, you're going
- 30:02Speaker 1: for a facial, a couple's massage at the Century Square location,
- 30:08Speaker 1: you can do that and more. Ask about memberships. With
- 30:11Speaker 1: every membership comes privileges and gentlemen. This time of year,
- 30:17Speaker 1: when you're parked in front of your big screen for
- 30:19Speaker 1: forty eight hours, during the weekend on you think about
- 30:23Speaker 1: a gift certificate for your significant other from Galleria and
- 30:27Speaker 1: if you will get your lazy rear in into physically Galleria,
- 30:32Speaker 1: they'll put a little gift bag together with some bows
- 30:36Speaker 1: on it and it'll make it look like you went
- 30:38Speaker 1: to a lot of trouble. Go online at galeriasposalon dot

- 30:47Speaker 19: Slovacic sausage is the official sausage of Aggie Athletics. Be
- 30:51Speaker 19: sure to get your Slovatic fixed nearing Aggie games at
- 30:54Speaker 19: Kyle Field this fall. Slovachik has been making sausage with
- 30:57Speaker 19: the same family recipes since nineteen fifty and fresh you're
- 31:01Speaker 19: out of town friends by putting some links of Slovatic
- 31:03Speaker 19: sausage on your grill for tailgate parties, and be sure
- 31:06Speaker 19: to stop by the full service meat market.
- 31:08Speaker 11: And make Greek n snook and on I thirty five
- 31:10Speaker 11: in West.
- 31:11Speaker 19: Slovotic sausage an Aggie travision since nineteen fifty seven.
- 31:17Speaker 21: You know, every time we do one of these CNJ
- 31:19Speaker 21: barbecue commercials, they tell us to come up with something clever,
- 31:22Speaker 21: but honestly, I never knew what to say.
- 31:24Speaker 2: How about we're CINGJ Barbecue. We make barbecue. It's good.
- 31:29Speaker 2: People like it. That's why we've been here smoking meats
- 31:31Speaker 2: and bill and bellies since the eighties.
- 31:33Speaker 21: Well, I guess that sums it up. So if you're hungry,
- 31:36Speaker 21: come see us.
- 31:37Speaker 2: If you need more convincing, well maybe you just don't
- 31:39Speaker 2: like happiness.
- 31:40Speaker 21: Either way, we'll be here smoking meat like we always do,
- 31:43Speaker 21: serving up happiness on a tray.
- 31:45Speaker 2: CNJ Barbecue.
- 31:46Speaker 22: Let's see, let's talk about it.
- 31:48Speaker 18: Okay.
- 31:48Speaker 12: The Carnie's Pup Calling Show brought to you by Text
- 31:52Speaker 12: Egg thirty minutes after every Eggie football home gate, right here,
- 31:55Speaker 12: right on the zone.
- 32:04Speaker 18: Last part on that one, since they were going out
- 32:06Speaker 18: to the BELAIRUS Fund Center phone line to visit with
- 32:08Speaker 18: the head football coach for the Midway Panthers, Joseph Gillespie.
- 32:12Speaker 18: How are you doing today?
- 32:13Speaker 17: I'm doing well, Matt. How are you?
- 32:15Speaker 18: I'm doing very well. Thank you so much for asking
- 32:17Speaker 18: looking back at last season, what were some of the
- 32:19Speaker 18: biggest takeaways for you and your team?
- 32:23Speaker 17: Well, I think you know last season when laid it
- 32:25Speaker 17: to the foundation, it was your one force as a
- 32:28Speaker 17: staff and with these kids, and you know they've had
- 32:32Speaker 17: a lot of change over the last they had fired
- 32:35Speaker 17: to getting here over the last four or five years
- 32:37Speaker 17: with just different coordinators offensively, defensively, and that gets tough.
- 32:42Speaker 17: And it's not just on Friday nights. I mean it's
- 32:44Speaker 17: all the way down to the seventh grade. And so,
- 32:46Speaker 17: you know, it has some continuity and some consistency within
- 32:50Speaker 17: among staff has been a huge plus. You know, all
- 32:54Speaker 17: the verbiage and the dynamics of what you're trying to
- 32:58Speaker 17: do strategically and stuff. You know, the kids are in
- 33:01Speaker 17: year or two of it and kind of seeing some
- 33:03Speaker 17: of the foods of the labor right now.
- 33:05Speaker 8: Mm hm.
- 33:06Speaker 18: And what was one area you felt like your team
- 33:07Speaker 18: really grew during last season?
- 33:11Speaker 17: Well, I think just trying to grow on the knowledge
- 33:13Speaker 17: of the game and then and then what it takes
- 33:15Speaker 17: to build a program and and you know, unfortunately, I've
- 33:18Speaker 17: got to sprinkle some fairy dust out there and make
- 33:21Speaker 17: it happen overnight. And you know, but it's a it's
- 33:25Speaker 17: a bit of a process. And and h when you're
- 33:28Speaker 17: starting to talk about, you know, building a full program,
- 33:31Speaker 17: and you know, in our eyes, a full program obviously
- 33:35Speaker 17: goes from seventh grade all the way through twelfth grade.
- 33:38Speaker 17: May even starts before that, which you use programs and stuff,
- 33:41Speaker 17: and so you know, there was a lot of footwork
- 33:44Speaker 17: and still a lot of footwork to do, and but
- 33:47Speaker 17: we've at least got it rolling in in a good
- 33:49Speaker 17: direction and got pitched an entire village to do this.
- 33:54Speaker 17: You got a lot of people on board.
- 33:56Speaker 18: And which returning players do you think from last season
- 33:58Speaker 18: have stepped up as the leaders this year?
- 34:00Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 34:01Speaker 17: Oh, I think there's quite a few. I mean you
- 34:04Speaker 17: start talking from a defensive standpoint of Bax Mate and
- 34:07Speaker 17: Laine Alexander, Uh, you know, guys like that Jadon Krause
- 34:11Speaker 17: and you know that had just been playing really well,
- 34:15Speaker 17: but they got a lot of experience under develop. And
- 34:17Speaker 17: then a guy like Carl Simmons who's just a junior
- 34:20Speaker 17: right now, but you know kind of got thrust into
- 34:22Speaker 17: a safety role last year as a sophomore and and
- 34:25Speaker 17: you know did a good job, but you know, had
- 34:28Speaker 17: some games that he played like a sophomore too, and
- 34:31Speaker 17: he's really playing him really well and a good leader
- 34:35Speaker 17: for us. And then offensively, you know andrewmin there. You
- 34:39Speaker 17: always got to start with your quarterback and and just
- 34:42Speaker 17: his growth from year one to year two you know,
- 34:45Speaker 17: ended up starting about the last year and four games
- 34:47Speaker 17: for US last year and due to the injury, and uh,
- 34:53Speaker 17: you know, just having that experience has done him an
- 34:57Speaker 17: immense amount of good. And then getting to spend all
- 35:00Speaker 17: all season in summer and fall camp and all that
- 35:03Speaker 17: being the trigger guy. Uh, you know, it just votes
- 35:06Speaker 17: confidence with you. And so he's been he's been really
- 35:09Speaker 17: really good.
- 35:10Speaker 23: You know.
- 35:11Speaker 17: Offensive line wise, we've got a bunch of guys up
- 35:13Speaker 17: there really kind of bell Cow is a guy named
- 35:16Speaker 17: Land and Pope and and so those have been you know, uh,
- 35:21Speaker 17: those guys have been very instrumental force.
- 35:25Speaker 18: And how would you assess your team's performance to the
- 35:26Speaker 18: first part of this season and how have you used
- 35:29Speaker 18: challenges from last season to grow?
- 35:32Speaker 17: Well, I think an assessment for the first part of
- 35:35Speaker 17: the season, we've gone through four non district games. We've
- 35:37Speaker 17: got district game one against the you know, defending district
- 35:41Speaker 17: camp and and so that's a were we get our
- 35:45Speaker 17: metal testing run off the bat, and you know, I
- 35:48Speaker 17: think our football IQ and hope we're trying to do offensively, defensively,
- 35:52Speaker 17: special teams wise, you know, we have you know, quite
- 35:57Speaker 17: a bit better grasp of what we're doing now and
- 36:01Speaker 17: still make our mistakes and stuff. You know, we played
- 36:04Speaker 17: the first twelve quarters of the season were probably the
- 36:07Speaker 17: cleanest first twelve quarters I've been a part of. And
- 36:13Speaker 17: it wasn't nothing flashy or dynamic or entertain It's just
- 36:17Speaker 17: good clean ball. You know. We were very limited and penalties,
- 36:21Speaker 17: especially offensively, for we weren't shooting ourselves in the foot.
- 36:24Speaker 17: We were scoring when we got the ball in the
- 36:26Speaker 17: red zone. Special teams for the most part of them
- 36:30Speaker 17: very very good for us, you know. And then unfortunately
- 36:35Speaker 17: the first two quarters we played other not versus man
- 36:38Speaker 17: still high. You know, it was it was a little
- 36:42Speaker 17: launching and you know, we had five turnover verse three
- 36:45Speaker 17: offensively and two of them special teams. And you know,
- 36:49Speaker 17: to sit there and go five no in the turnover
- 36:52Speaker 17: category or old five in the turnover category and still
- 36:56Speaker 17: win the ball game says a lot about the team.
- 36:59Speaker 17: And it says a lot of those kids, the coaches,
- 37:01Speaker 17: their adjustments, their ability to adjust, and then just not panic.
- 37:06Speaker 17: And uh, you know, we were fortunate to fight and
- 37:08Speaker 17: call and scratching it ourselves back in the ball game
- 37:10Speaker 17: and come away with big women.
- 37:12Speaker 18: And what do you think is surprised you most positively
- 37:15Speaker 18: or negatively about this year's group.
- 37:19Speaker 17: Well, I don't think there's anything negative. You know, surprised
- 37:23Speaker 17: most probably some certain individuals and just what they're you know,
- 37:27Speaker 17: I knew that they were going to be pretty good.
- 37:29Speaker 17: I didn't know they were going to be deck good
- 37:30Speaker 17: this soon. You know, you're taking jadon films Vawn and
- 37:33Speaker 17: I missed Carl Simmons earlier. Just you know Jaden Fields.
- 37:37Speaker 17: Everybody talks about lath and Withington and then we've got
- 37:40Speaker 17: another guy that you know, comes in to spelling and
- 37:43Speaker 17: he's just this dynamic, just a different type of dynamic.
- 37:47Speaker 5: You know.
- 37:48Speaker 17: Lathan is a heck of a specimen, heck of a
- 37:51Speaker 17: run back and stuff, but he much went and run
- 37:53Speaker 17: through you, that around you, whereas bild Vaughn is a
- 37:56Speaker 17: little bit more shifty and shaky and and you know
- 37:59Speaker 17: a bit of a bugs. So you know, they complement
- 38:02Speaker 17: each other because you get two different styles of running
- 38:04Speaker 17: backs back there, and it gets hard defensively.
- 38:07Speaker 18: Let's pivot here a little bit. What were your key
- 38:09Speaker 18: takeaways from the last week's game.
- 38:13Speaker 17: Well, I think the key takeaways are we're pretty good
- 38:16Speaker 17: football team, but we can't help others. And I'm not
- 38:19Speaker 17: going to take anything away from Mansfield High. They're very
- 38:21Speaker 17: very well coached, talented football team. And you know, but
- 38:27Speaker 17: we were kind of and they were creating some plays
- 38:30Speaker 17: and stuff like that, and they did what they were
- 38:31Speaker 17: supposed to do and they capitalized on the all five turnovers.
- 38:35Speaker 17: And so you know, the biggest thing that we got
- 38:40Speaker 17: to do is just understand, hey, if we'll go back
- 38:43Speaker 17: in the second half, we did. We played very clean
- 38:46Speaker 17: football in all three phases. We're getting out the field defensively.
- 38:50Speaker 17: On third down, we had several three and outs there
- 38:53Speaker 17: in the third quarter. We scored twenty one points, I
- 38:55Speaker 17: believe in the third quarter. And then you know, and
- 39:01Speaker 17: then just take care of the ball and you know,
- 39:04Speaker 17: score when we have opportunities for points on the board.
- 39:06Speaker 17: We liked a six point variety more than the three
- 39:09Speaker 17: and they took advantage of that. And you know, the
- 39:13Speaker 17: guys that they're just playing, you know, Goods Town playing football.
- 39:18Speaker 18: M And what are the biggest challenges heading into this
- 39:21Speaker 18: week's matchup?
- 39:23Speaker 17: My other I mean, they do a wonderful job over there,
- 39:28Speaker 17: and you know, Mark gumbold Is is a tremendous coach
- 39:33Speaker 17: and Uh, he's got a tremendous program going. Like I
- 39:36Speaker 17: said earlier, they are they defended district chance, they home
- 39:39Speaker 17: the go ball right now, and uh, you know it's
- 39:42Speaker 17: gonna be one of the most physical or challenging games
- 39:45Speaker 17: that we've had, you know, so far this season. And
- 39:48Speaker 17: so you know, fortunate thing is have time to our
- 39:51Speaker 17: place and and so I'll take every advantage I can get.
- 39:55Speaker 18: M And last question here for you coach, just being
- 39:59Speaker 18: your can season.
- 40:03Speaker 17: I'm not gonna be able to run from it.
- 40:05Speaker 24: Math, So go ahead.
- 40:08Speaker 18: Last question here. This is your second season as coach,
- 40:12Speaker 18: and I'm just wondering what three to five years down
- 40:16Speaker 18: the road, what would you define a success for this
- 40:19Speaker 18: program culturally both on and off the field, for your staff,
- 40:23Speaker 18: for your team, for the school.
- 40:26Speaker 17: Oh, I just think, you know, and I kind of
- 40:28Speaker 17: mentioned it earlier. I want some consistency. I want these
- 40:32Speaker 17: kids to have some consistency and some constabuity. But we
- 40:35Speaker 17: also want our staff to grow and have opportunities. And
- 40:38Speaker 17: we've already had that. After year one. We had guys
- 40:40Speaker 17: that you know, went on became head coaches, that went
- 40:44Speaker 17: on to the collegiate level and stuff like that. And
- 40:47Speaker 17: so you know, we always want them to grow professionally,
- 40:49Speaker 17: but at the same time, we want some continuity here
- 40:52Speaker 17: for these kids. And and so you know that's one,
- 40:55Speaker 17: and then the one is just have a you know,
- 40:58Speaker 17: the full program. I'm rolling and like I said earlier,
- 41:02Speaker 17: you know from the youth all the way up and
- 41:05Speaker 17: we're all talking the same lingos, same verbiage, and you know,
- 41:09Speaker 17: all of the great programs around the state of Texas
- 41:11Speaker 17: right now they have that. And it hasn't been just
- 41:14Speaker 17: going for two three four years. It's been going for
- 41:18Speaker 17: fifteen to twenty plus years. And that's why they're so successful.
- 41:22Speaker 17: And so you know, three four or five years down
- 41:25Speaker 17: the road, hopefully we're we're starting to scratch at some
- 41:29Speaker 17: of that and get a lot better because of it,
- 41:31Speaker 17: got a lot of kids out playing, and you know,
- 41:35Speaker 17: a lot of community support, and so you know, we'd
- 41:39Speaker 17: like to talk about championships and state championships and stuff
- 41:42Speaker 17: like that. You know, there's so many variables that come
- 41:45Speaker 17: into stuff like like went in state championships. I've been
- 41:48Speaker 17: fortunate enough to be a part of a few of them,
- 41:50Speaker 17: and you know, to get there and to do that,
- 41:54Speaker 17: I think this is a place it certainly has the
- 41:56Speaker 17: capability of doing it how soon, I don't know. You know,
- 42:01Speaker 17: that's one of the reasons I took this job. I
- 42:03Speaker 17: think it's one of the top ten jobs in the
- 42:05Speaker 17: state of Texas. I've always sat there in mid way
- 42:09Speaker 17: of the community, the school, just the legacy of excellent
- 42:15Speaker 17: and so very fortunate to be a part of it.
- 42:18Speaker 8: Very well.
- 42:18Speaker 18: But thank you so much for your time.
- 42:20Speaker 8: Coach Matt.
- 42:22Speaker 17: Thank you, Bud. Sorry about the fire law.
- 42:24Speaker 18: No no, where is it all?

- 47:07Speaker 5: One loading one saying.
- 47:13Speaker 21: I'm go.
- 47:15Speaker 13: One, no.
- 47:17Speaker 8: One.
- 47:19Speaker 5: You know, if I was a really lazy host. I
- 47:21Speaker 5: just played this all the way to the top of
- 47:23Speaker 5: the hour.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Pot We're gonna hear a little bit from UH Chase Basontis,
- 47:28Speaker 1: who visited with UH radio and TV and newspaper types today.
- 47:35Speaker 14: Jayce, i't you just assess how the Elephants line is.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Played through these first three games?
- 47:40Speaker 8: Truly?
- 47:41Speaker 29: I think we started slow the first two games this
- 47:43Speaker 29: season because we were playing down to our opponent, and
- 47:45Speaker 29: I think playing another Dame we had to pick it up,
- 47:48Speaker 29: and I think we did that. And even so this week,
- 47:50Speaker 29: the first SEC game, we're ready to show to SEC
- 47:53Speaker 29: what the all lines about.
- 47:55Speaker 14: I wis has legs and mitigating it's been this week.
- 47:59Speaker 29: Yeah, No, We've been doing a lot of punishment, trying
- 48:01Speaker 29: to minimize the penalties, trying to be a penalty free team.
- 48:06Speaker 8: Uh, we feel like the only team that could beat
- 48:08Speaker 8: us is us. So it's a big factor this week.
- 48:10Speaker 1: What was it like beyond an offensive lineman and we
- 48:14Speaker 1: had that he played the two backups.
- 48:17Speaker 14: Before you were able to to get that with a
- 48:19Speaker 14: a little little little bit of.
- 48:20Speaker 29: Indication when that played with men, which just frustration. H
- 48:26Speaker 29: But like, I think it shows a lot about our
- 48:27Speaker 29: team and how we can overcome adversity.
- 48:30Speaker 8: Well, just curious alight updowns. We've been doing a lot
- 48:35Speaker 8: of updowns.
- 48:38Speaker 21: Game you were.
- 48:41Speaker 8: Yeah, how much motivation you have? Yeah, noah, big time.
- 48:50Speaker 29: Just just it's been a long time coming, worked really hard,
- 48:54Speaker 29: worked really hard to rehab.
- 48:55Speaker 8: So I'm excited to go this week.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Do you think the open leak was Uh?
- 49:00Speaker 8: Was it been official for you?
- 49:01Speaker 30: Or would you have rather just have to bend they
- 49:03Speaker 30: come right back and play.
- 49:04Speaker 8: The next week. I mean, we don't care who we play.
- 49:07Speaker 8: We're ready to go. All right, That's all I got.
- 49:09Speaker 14: So, Yeah, what have you seen from Auburn's defenses?
- 49:14Speaker 1: You guys are getting to scout them.
- 49:16Speaker 8: Uh.
- 49:16Speaker 29: DJ Durkins great defensive coordinator. You know he was here
- 49:19Speaker 29: in my freshman year. We've we've been putting in a
- 49:21Speaker 29: lot of prep time, a lot of film time.
- 49:24Speaker 8: They got a good defensive scheme, but we're gonna handle
- 49:26Speaker 8: it well, yeah, go Chase pender can offs want to
- 49:30Speaker 8: stuss outday and obviously fens what do you guys do
- 49:32Speaker 8: do here? Sorry? Can you said that when we're talking?
- 49:34Speaker 8: Is a guy that's on the Saturday Monster you guy?
- 49:37Speaker 8: You know, just like I said earlier, we can only
- 49:40Speaker 8: beat ourselves.
- 49:41Speaker 29: So he's a great player. We know that we film studying,
- 49:45Speaker 29: but uh, you know, we're gonna play our offensive scheme
- 49:48Speaker 29: and we're gonna do what we could do.
- 49:49Speaker 5: Right, What do you make of all going to talk
- 49:52Speaker 5: about the Notre Dame.
- 49:53Speaker 29: Ending and the yea, you know it's over now, so
- 49:57Speaker 29: we're really ready to go suc Auburn next foot forward?
- 50:01Speaker 8: Like we're ready to go? Yeah, I mentioned the durking?
- 50:04Speaker 13: Was was you when you were earlier this sea?
- 50:07Speaker 21: Do you have any tips or tails about some of
- 50:09Speaker 21: the ways of life called defense that might help the defendingfense?
- 50:13Speaker 29: No, they they do a good job disguising their defense.
- 50:16Speaker 29: But but we got some ideas too, you know, yeah,
- 50:19Speaker 29: really good have the.
- 50:20Speaker 8: Last year's lost? How motivated are you guys for like revenge.
- 50:23Speaker 29: Ye, no, not even you know, we have a chip
- 50:27Speaker 29: on our shoulder right now. We're ready to prove a Saturday.
- 50:30Speaker 26: Where do you feel like you improved the most of
- 50:32Speaker 26: your game over this saw season into these first few weeks?
- 50:35Speaker 29: I would I'd say, like, really, as an offensive lineman,
- 50:39Speaker 29: I can improve in everything run game, pass, game points, Mike,
- 50:42Speaker 29: I d defense front, Like that's it really trying to
- 50:47Speaker 29: get drafted, So uh, just really getting better everything I can.
- 50:51Speaker 8: And that's for the whole offensive line. All seven guys.
- 50:54Speaker 14: Look like the whole line they need to improve, especially.
- 50:56Speaker 8: Over the time.
- 50:57Speaker 29: I think UH helped get us health. You know, some
- 51:00Speaker 29: guys are banged up, so I think we're ready to
- 51:03Speaker 29: go fresh bodies this week. Father maybe back, so I
- 51:06Speaker 29: think we're ready to go Chase.
- 51:08Speaker 9: What's the chemistry like to the online?
- 51:10Speaker 13: I mean, if you guys already playing full seas together going.
- 51:13Speaker 29: No, it's been great two years to get her. Now
- 51:16Speaker 29: we've done a lot of team bonding, paintballing and stuff.
- 51:19Speaker 8: So I love them. They're my brothers.
- 51:23Speaker 30: Obviously every game is really important. Yeah, just being the
- 51:25Speaker 30: first conference game is even more important. Do y'all feel
- 51:28Speaker 30: like there's an extra importance of this to just show
- 51:31Speaker 30: that you know, the game we had notre Dame, was
- 51:34Speaker 30: it just fluke, and that y'all.
- 51:35Speaker 29: Can come back and yeah, yeah, no, yes, sir, I
- 51:38Speaker 29: feel all burned, maybe upset about their lost last week too.
