- 0:00Danny and Brinkley told the story in his book Saved by the
- 0:04Light. He was a mercenary, A hired
- 0:07killer. He was struck by lightning.
- 0:11He was pronounced clinically dead.
- 0:14He returned to life. He knew at that moment that he
- 0:19was sent back to accomplish a task, a mission.
- 0:23He left behind his prior life and founded an organization
- 0:27called Compassion in Action CIA to train people on how to work
- 0:33with those who were terminally ill and in Hospice.
- 0:38In the book Called to Heal, author Susan Schuster Campbell
- 0:42relates the tale of an African shamanic healer she met during
- 0:46her travels. The healer told her that she did
- 0:49not want to take up the role of healer, but every time she tried
- 0:54something else, obstacles intervened.
- 0:57She had serious health problems herself and she could not move
- 1:01forward in her life. This person consulted another
- 1:06healer who told her that her denial of her destined role as a
- 1:10shamanic healer was causing all her problems.
- 1:14She became a shamanic healer and her life suddenly opened out in
- 1:18front of her in a very positive way and she overcame the health
- 1:23issues that had been troubling her.
- 1:27Another individual told of having been poisoned and in
- 1:30terrible pain. With all his limbs seized up.
- 1:34He could not breathe. He heard an inner voice telling
- 1:38him do yogic breathing, about which he knew nothing, having
- 1:43not been exposed to yoga prior to that time.
- 1:47Something started breathing in him and when he woke up, he
- 1:52understood he had been returned to life to carry out a different
- 1:55role than the career he had planned.
- 1:58He left college, took up the practice of yoga, and dedicated
- 2:03his future life to that practice.
- 2:06These are exceptional cases and few individuals out of the
- 2:11billions of people living or having lived in the world have
- 2:16this type of clear guidance about their role and function.
- 2:20But that does not mean that others are not intended to have
- 2:24their own unique part to play. A disciple asks What is my place
- 2:31in the universal work? The mother writes quote.
- 2:37We all have a role to fulfil, a work to accomplish, a place
- 2:41which we alone can occupy. But since this work is the
- 2:46expression, the outer manifestation of the inmost
- 2:50depth of our being, we can become conscious of its
- 2:53definitive form only when we become conscious of this depth
- 2:58within ourselves. This is what sometimes happens
- 3:02in cases of true conversion. The moment we perceive the
- 3:07transfiguring light and give ourselves to it without reserve,
- 3:11we can suddenly and precisely become aware of what we are made
- 3:16for, of the purpose of our existence on earth.
- 3:20But this enlightenment is exceptional.
- 3:23It is brought about within us by a whole series of efforts and
- 3:27inner attitudes. And one of the essential
- 3:30conditions if we want to achieve and maintain within ourselves
- 3:34these attitudes, these soul states, is to devote part of our
- 3:39time each day to some impersonal action.
- 3:43Every day we must do something useful for others.
