Transcript
- Gary: Today we are talking about pride through the Tower of Babel in Genesis chapter 11. The people came together to build a city and a tower reaching toward the heavens. They want to make a name for themselves and avoid being scattered across the earth. They have a shared vision, they have a skill, they have determination, but their purpose deserves a closer look. What happens when making a name for yourself becomes more important than listening to God. In the story, God confuses their language. Their construction stops and they are scattered. That challenges us to examine our own building projects. Your business, your reputation, your social media following, even the image of a perfect family. What are you hoping those things will prove? That you matter, that you finally made it? That everyone who doubted you was wrong? There is nothing wrong with wanting to accomplish something. But pride can turn accomplishment into a demand.
