SPEAKER_00: So last night, this started when I picked up Gavin yesterday.
• 0:22
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 0:23
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 0:23
SPEAKER_00: So I pick up Gavin from school.
• 0:25
SPEAKER_00: And you know, Gavin's like every 11, almost 12-year-old.
• 0:28
SPEAKER_00: You get broken stories, but you piece it all together and you figure out what's going on.
• 0:33
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 0:33
SPEAKER_00: So he goes, hey, today at recess, we have a kickball competition with another class.
• 0:37
  SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, oh, that's awesome.
• 0:39
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 0:40
  SPEAKER_00: Because kickball's cool.
• 0:41
SPEAKER_00: And uh he goes, yeah, but kickball is timeless.
• 0:44
SPEAKER_00: He goes, I really don't know how to Well, kickball, I think, is having a resurgence.
• 0:47
SPEAKER_00: This topic came up yesterday.
• 0:48
SPEAKER_00: A lot of people were like, Oh, I love it, I love it.
• 0:50
  SPEAKER_00: I don't love it.
• 0:52
  SPEAKER_00: So here's the thing.
• 0:53
SPEAKER_00: So he goes, but I don't really know how to play.
• 0:55
SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, explaining to him, well, first thing that goes to my mind is they didn't teach you this in gym class?
• 1:00
SPEAKER_00: Like, how do you not do kickball in gym class?
• 1:03
  SPEAKER_00: That is the perfect.
• 1:04
SPEAKER_00: I understand dodgeball's been taken out because, you know.
• 1:07
SPEAKER_01: Alley pain threw a dodgeball at somebody's face.
• 1:09
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 1:09
SPEAKER_00: I mean, that whole subject with dodgeball, I'm telling you, I think if there was a study done, we had less hallway school fights when there was dodgeball.
• 1:18
SPEAKER_01: Okay, yes, I can see.
• 1:19
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
• 1:19
SPEAKER_01: You get your aggressions out.
• 1:21
  SPEAKER_01: Sure.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_00: And you do it in a sporty kind of manner, you know, until somebody gets a ball right to the face at point blank range, uh, aka Ali Payne.
• 1:28
  SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
• 1:28
SPEAKER_00: So at any rate, he he said, he goes, but I don't really quite know how to do it.
• 1:32
  SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay.
• 1:33
SPEAKER_00: And this is where I was going with this.
• 1:35
  SPEAKER_00: I go, it's like baseball.
• 1:37
SPEAKER_00: So if you kick the ball and it's rolling or in the air, nobody's caught, run to first base.
• 1:42
SPEAKER_00: And he's starting, I'm losing him at this point.
• 1:44
  SPEAKER_00: I'm starting to.
• 1:45
  SPEAKER_00: Already?
• 1:46
  SPEAKER_00: I'm it's beginning to happen.
• 1:47
SPEAKER_00: And I'm and I'm trying to go through a couple of the rules, the way that it that you would play.
• 1:51
  SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay.
• 1:52
SPEAKER_00: And then I realized, I'll show you a video.
• 1:54
SPEAKER_00: He goes, No, I watched it.
• 1:55
SPEAKER_00: He goes, I just don't get it.
• 1:56
SPEAKER_00: And I go, well, did any of your friends try to help you out?
• 1:58
SPEAKER_00: And he goes, uh, yeah, a little bit, this, and that.
• 2:01
SPEAKER_00: So now you got to remember something about Gavin.
• 2:03
SPEAKER_00: If Gavin comes into a situation not knowing how to do something, that is his trigger for frustration.
• 2:08
  SPEAKER_00: Yes.
• 2:08
SPEAKER_00: But I told him, I said, it's like a video game or anything else.
• 2:11
SPEAKER_00: You have to do it to learn up to the level to beat the level.
• 2:15
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, Dad.
• 2:15
  SPEAKER_00: This is awesome.
• 2:16
SPEAKER_00: So, at any rate, here we are at soccer practice last night.
• 2:19
SPEAKER_00: Now, it was a real light practice.
• 2:21
SPEAKER_00: There was only like five kids out of the team there.
• 2:23
  SPEAKER_00: I everybody's it's May, or it's June now, early June.
• 2:26
SPEAKER_00: Everybody's got stuff going on everywhere, right?
• 2:29
SPEAKER_00: So you get what you get.
• 2:30
SPEAKER_00: So I go up to the coach, I go up to uh Coach Colin and Brian, and I go, hey guys, I said in the last like five, ten minutes, I said, if you have time, I said, could we do a little kickball game?
• 2:40
SPEAKER_00: And they're looking at me, and I go, and I explained to them exactly what I told you.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_00: And they said, Yeah, maybe we could.
• 2:45
SPEAKER_00: That may not be bad.
• 2:46
  SPEAKER_01: That's a great idea, Scott.
• 2:48
SPEAKER_00: Again, I'm thinking he's with his kids that he knows, and you know, it's fun, it's a fun competition.
• 2:53
SPEAKER_00: They're already kicking a ball for soccer, right?
• 2:55
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 2:55
SPEAKER_00: So we decide to play.
• 2:58
SPEAKER_00: I get called in to be the pitcher.
• 3:00
SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay, designated pitcher.
• 3:02
  SPEAKER_00: Sure.
• 3:02
  SPEAKER_00: Scott can't stand still.
• 3:04
SPEAKER_00: My competitive bone, which is now broken, my competitive bone instantly goes into I am still 25, I can do anything, right?
• 3:12
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
• 3:13
SPEAKER_00: So at one point, the ball's coming.
• 3:16
SPEAKER_00: I turn, I let Coach Collin get it.
• 3:18
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, here, throw it here, throw it here, throw it here.
• 3:21
  SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
• 3:21
SPEAKER_00: Next thing I know, this is where it's gonna get gross.
• 3:24
  SPEAKER_00: You ready?
• 3:25
  SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
• 3:26
SPEAKER_00: I hear and feel this tearing sound in the back of my uh right behind my knee, like not behind my kneec, not behind my kneecal, the back of the leg, that area, you know, the back of the calf.
• 3:38
SPEAKER_00: So instantly, and it sounds like have you ever ripped meat off a bone?
• 3:42
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 3:42
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 3:43
  SPEAKER_00: So that's that's the sound I hear.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_00: Oh I didn't drop to the ground, but I'm like, oh, I did it again.
• 3:49
  SPEAKER_00: I did it again.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm thinking, like, is this a hamstring?
• 3:52
SPEAKER_00: I have no idea what I did.
• 3:53
SPEAKER_00: I cannot straighten my leg out.
• 3:55
SPEAKER_00: I cannot stand, I can stand on it oddly, but I can't walk normal because I can't bend it normal.
• 4:01
SPEAKER_01: Scott looks like he's ready for Ashanti.
• 4:03
SPEAKER_01: He's got the stanky leg this morning.
• 4:05
SPEAKER_00: I totally have the stanky leg.
• 4:06
SPEAKER_00: So what are you gonna do for tonight?
• 4:09
SPEAKER_00: You might have to wheel me out on stage in a wheelchair.
• 4:11
  SPEAKER_00: I'm not even kidding.
• 4:12
SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm sitting in a chair right now, I don't want to get up.
• 4:14
SPEAKER_00: I'm moving the leg a little bit because God almighty, getting out of bed this morning was hell.
• 4:19
SPEAKER_01: Now, how did it feel, even just sleeping?
• 4:21
SPEAKER_01: Where did you have like restless sleep?
• 4:23
SPEAKER_01: Or was it pretty good?
• 4:24
  SPEAKER_00: Here's what happened, though.
• 4:26
SPEAKER_00: At midnight, a bear knocked over my garbage can again.
• 4:29
  SPEAKER_00: No, I got smart.
• 4:30
SPEAKER_00: I haven't been putting the garbage in the can until closer to uh garbage day.
• 4:34
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 4:35
  SPEAKER_00: So what happens?
• 4:36
SPEAKER_00: All the dogs go nuts.
• 4:38
SPEAKER_00: So now, once you're up at midnight, if you don't let them out to go to the bathroom, you're gonna see something that you don't want to see in your house.
• 4:44
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_01: And then you step in it because you're so tired.
• 4:46
SPEAKER_00: Then I trip over Frank.
• 4:48
SPEAKER_00: You know, my leg catches him because he wasn't moving quick, and I'm like, oh yeah.
• 4:54
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, it hurts.
• 4:55
  SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
• 4:56
  SPEAKER_00: It really hurts.
• 4:57
SPEAKER_00: Like I walk, I look like I'm walking into Walmart on a Sunday.
• 5:00
  SPEAKER_00: You do.
• 5:01
SPEAKER_01: You look like you should be on the Gent Bridge, actually.
• 5:03
SPEAKER_00: And then I tell Tiffany about it, and God bless her.
• 5:07
SPEAKER_00: Uh she is very sympathetic to things, but I was I was thinking she was gonna say, suck it up.
• 5:12
SPEAKER_00: Well, there was a touch of that.
• 5:13
SPEAKER_00: So last night, she was pretty tired last night, though.
• 5:15
  SPEAKER_00: Busy day, right?
• 5:16
SPEAKER_00: So I go, I need to get in with Jody.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_00: We know Jody because years ago he worked at Healthworks, but he works at Guthrie now, right?
• 5:22
SPEAKER_00: So what's he gonna do?
• 5:23
SPEAKER_00: I need to Well, he works in that sort of a field, and I figure used to work out with him.
• 5:27
  SPEAKER_00: He knows athletic injuries.
• 5:29
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 5:29
  SPEAKER_00: Athletic injuries, my ass.
• 5:32
  SPEAKER_00: So here I am.
• 5:33
SPEAKER_00: I'm like Scott's like the Serena Williams.
• 5:35
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I need to get in with him.
• 5:36
SPEAKER_00: She's like, Well, I can't make the appointment for you.
• 5:38
  SPEAKER_00: You're like family.
• 5:39
SPEAKER_00: They they they don't let you do that.
• 5:40
SPEAKER_00: And she goes, and he might be booked.
• 5:42
  SPEAKER_00: You might have to.
• 5:43
SPEAKER_00: And so this morning, as I'm leaving, she goes, Did you hear a ripping or a pop?
• 5:47
  SPEAKER_00: And I go, I heard a ripping.
• 5:49
SPEAKER_00: She goes, You gotta go to the walk-in.
• 5:51
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
• 5:52
SPEAKER_01: I am um Is this a way of getting out of tonight?
• 5:55
  SPEAKER_01: No.
• 5:55
  SPEAKER_01: No, I'm kidding.
• 5:56
SPEAKER_00: No, you know I uh I'll be coming tonight.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_00: How well I'll throw a t-shirt is another story.
• 6:01
SPEAKER_01: I mean, even though my arms are fine, it's like oh at least I know the guy that puts on the he kind of sets the show up, the stage and the lights and all that stuff.
• 6:10
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, Bruce.
• 6:10
SPEAKER_01: His name's Bruce Perrin, yeah.
• 6:12
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 6:12
SPEAKER_01: And he I know has a dolly.
• 6:15
SPEAKER_01: So what we could do is Dude, wheel me out on the dolly.
• 6:18
  SPEAKER_00: That's what I was thinking.
• 6:19
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
• 6:20
SPEAKER_01: Because he always has to dolly all the speakers and the lights and all that stuff.
• 6:24
SPEAKER_00: So just it can't be you, because you will dump me off the stage as the laugh.
• 6:29
SPEAKER_00: So you can't do it.
• 6:30
SPEAKER_01: Who am I gonna have?
• 6:31
  SPEAKER_00: There's gotta be a stage hand.
• 6:33
SPEAKER_00: Somebody's gotta be able to wheel me out.
• 6:34
  SPEAKER_01: I think that's gonna be perfect.
• 6:35
SPEAKER_00: You're gonna get up to full speed and you're gonna lose control, and the next thing you know, I'm gonna dump into the crowd, and then both legs are gonna break and the arms gone.
• 6:43
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it this is gonna be a mess.
• 6:44
SPEAKER_01: So, did you get online and make your appointment this morning?
• 6:47
  SPEAKER_00: No, not yet.
• 6:47
  SPEAKER_00: I haven't done it yet.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_00: It took everything I had to make coffee and get in the shower and put oh God, putting clothes on.
• 6:53
SPEAKER_00: What a show that is! I'm just so glad you're not here naked.
• 6:58
  SPEAKER_00: You're welcome.
