- 0:03Hello and welcome back to an episode of Bantu Lorenzi.
- 0:06How are you all doing if you're doing great for today's episode,
- 0:08I want to ask the question, would you move into your wife's
- 0:12house? We're not talking about
- 0:13girlfriend. We're talking about you met
- 0:16somebody. You proposed to that person.
- 0:18You knew they have a house better than yours or a flat
- 0:23better than yours or a rented house that that is better than
- 0:26yours. But you still want her to marry
- 0:29this person. And then after the marriage,
- 0:31you're telling that person, now you're my wife.
- 0:33Now you're under me. Instead of moving into, let's
- 0:36say one bedroom or a three bedroom, you decide to move.
- 0:40Move her into your face me. I face you house because you are
- 0:44the man. Is he proper?
- 0:47Would you do it now? This conversation started when
- 0:50somebody posted online that it is wrong for a man to move into
- 0:57a woman's house because the women grow wings and that
- 1:02conversation has been blowing up.
- 1:03This is not the first time we we are seeing such thing.
- 1:05In fact, there was this story that went viral some years ago
- 1:09where a lady who met a guy, he proposed, they started planning
- 1:17their wedding and then just days before the wedding, he found out
- 1:23or he already knew that she had properties, she had landed
- 1:26properties, she has houses, I think it was in Port Arcos.
- 1:29So she's working in one of those oil companies making money and,
- 1:33you know, making wise investment.
- 1:36So he now the wedding was fixed. It was like days to the wedding.
- 1:42He now said that she should transfer every property that she
- 1:47has to his name before he can marry her because he will not
- 1:52feel like a man if he is marrying her and all these
- 1:57properties are in her name. That went viral.
- 2:01He became a man and a woman conversation.
- 2:03Some men says yes, that is right.
- 2:06You know if you ask men who don't have sisters because at
- 2:10the end of the day you have to look at this in two ways.
- 2:13If your sister, you're from a family where everybody's OK,
- 2:17everybody's doing well, or maybe everybody's not OK, but your
- 2:22sister has done well for herself.
- 2:24She had made money. She, she made wise investments,
- 2:27but both properties and then she's getting married.
- 2:32And then the husband is saying that maybe the husband, she's
- 2:35just getting married to be married, though they are not
- 2:40equally yoked financially. And then the husband is saying
- 2:45that everything that she has to be should be transferred to him
- 2:49before that marriage can go on. You as a man, how would you feel
- 2:54or you as a father, how would that make you feel?
- 2:57Would you be OK for your child, for your sister, for your
- 3:02cousin, for your niece, for your daughter to transfer everything
- 3:08that she has to this man before? If like before he said before
- 3:13the marriage, some women said lie, lie, they're not going to
- 3:17do it that the marriage is going to be called off because why
- 3:21would a man demand such from a woman?
- 3:24You don't know how far she walked to get what?
- 3:27Get what she got. So are you marrying her for the
- 3:30properties or are you marrying her for real?
- 3:33That was a very big conversation.
- 3:35Many people or many women who were on her side, they call them
- 3:39feminists. And the guys were like, This is
- 3:41why we don't even marry rich women now.
- 3:46It is not even about properties. It's about house accommodation.
- 3:51If you are getting married to somebody who you know because
- 3:55you've dated this person, you can't tell me you're marrying
- 3:58somebody you've not been to their house.
- 4:00That is not even possible. You know, once when you're
- 4:04dating, you knew you must have had conversation.
- 4:06I think the problem is people don't even talk before getting
- 4:10married or people avoid setting conversations.
- 4:13I remember what I was telling somebody that if, listen, if I'm
- 4:16going to have, if, if you come to me and say you want to marry
- 4:19me, listen, we're going to do crazy check.
- 4:22Like we're going to run all the possible cheques that we can run
- 4:26for you. And you also do the same for me.
- 4:29Because at the end of the day, marriage is partnership.
- 4:32Marriage is, is a business venture.
- 4:36Whether you like it or not, it is.
- 4:39So if you've dated that person, you know what they have, you
- 4:44know where they live, you still decided to go ahead and marry
- 4:48that person. And then you're telling them
- 4:51maybe she's living in a one bedroom house.
- 4:54You are living in a face me, I face you one room.
- 4:59Would you expect her to leave the one bedroom house or the one
- 5:02bedroom flat and move into the face me I face you?
- 5:06Or are you happy to move into the one bedroom house or one
- 5:12bedroom flat and then you guys build together?
- 5:16Or would you say, OK, before the marriage?
- 5:19Can we look for a mutual place? Because This is why I say people
- 5:24don't have conversations. If you're not comfortable moving
- 5:28into her house, how about have that conversation in the UKI
- 5:32live in the UK. Let me give you examples.
- 5:35You have women or ladies or girls who have worked hard for
- 5:40themselves. They bought houses or bought a
- 5:43house just to be on the property ladder for investment, you know,
- 5:47and then they need this guy who because most Nigerian men, they
- 5:52want their investment to be in Nigeria.
- 5:53So most of them don't have houses here.
- 5:56They really, you see one or two married people who have houses
- 6:00and it is the woman that we even bring most times we bring the
- 6:04deposit for those houses because they want to have a house.
- 6:08You know, women, you're thinking kids, children, where the
- 6:13children are going to grow up. You're thinking all these
- 6:15things. The man is just thinking what do
- 6:17I need to do back home to make sure my people see that I am
- 6:20successful? OK, So what happens is you see
- 6:25these women with houses and the man is telling you I can't move
- 6:29into your house. You have to sell your house
- 6:32before we get married or some of the men will not even say it.
- 6:37But they will not marry these women.
- 6:39They would rather stay in their one room house.
- 6:42Go get somebody from Nigeria who still come and be like you're
- 6:46living in A1 room and then it becomes a problem and then see
- 6:51finish starts because when they go back, they are going back as
- 6:54kings. You know, they are taking loans,
- 6:57renting cars, doing all these things, changing pounds to naira
- 7:01bowling maximum they're staying one or two weeks so they they
- 7:06can ball for, for, for that duration.
- 7:09And then they come back, they're taking extra shifts to make sure
- 7:11that they pay all these things. The women there, they don't know
- 7:14their living situations. Then when they come here and
- 7:18they see what is going on, most times they clash.
- 7:23So as a man, would you be comfortable to move into a
- 7:29woman's house knowing that you know this is her?
- 7:35Because I think that's for me, that is even a silly question.
- 7:42You are choosing to marry somebody.
- 7:46OK, There's a reason why you have chosen to marry that
- 7:49person. If you are choosing to marry
- 7:52wrong, then that question will come up like for you to marry,
- 7:59want to marry somebody, It is something that you know that you
- 8:02guys are going to merge finances together, you're going to merge
- 8:06expenses together, you're going to merge debt together.
- 8:10So there has to be that conversation.
- 8:13If you're saying that you're not happy moving into a house and
- 8:16you guys have to, I don't even that question does not even make
- 8:20sense to me, but I am still going to ask that question.
- 8:23Would you be happy to move into a woman's house, A wife,
- 8:28somebody that you want to marry? Not a girlfriend, not somebody
- 8:31you're dating, not somebody you're sleeping with, somebody
- 8:34that you had actually proposed to.
- 8:36They accepted your proposal, you're getting married, and then
- 8:40you're saying that you're not going to move into a house
- 8:43because it is a woman's house or because she's a woman who bought
- 8:48the house, so she's not going to respect you because she bought a
- 8:51house. Does that make sense?
- 8:55Why are you getting Marita in the 1st place if you're
- 8:58intimidated, if there's that barrier of saying, you know, I,
- 9:04I because at the end of the day, her salary is not going to
- 9:07change. She, she, she, she, if she
- 9:09bought one, she can buy another one.
- 9:10You can, you can you do the same?
- 9:16Now these same men don't have problems with let's say man in
- 9:20Nigeria. I have a couple of people who
- 9:23had come back to who have houses here.
- 9:25They've come back to Nigeria. They've married.
- 9:27They marry, you know, Nigerian men bring them here.
- 9:30And still that ego, you know, you put a cup here, you say,
- 9:36honey, don't put this cup here, take it to or they put the cup
- 9:41in the sink. You say, honey, just wash the
- 9:42cup. You know, you don't have to
- 9:43leave it in the sink or just put it in the dishwasher.
- 9:47Hey, is it because it is your house?
- 9:49Is it because you bought this house?
- 9:52Nigerian men have problems. But then when they marry you,
- 9:56they don't say those things or they don't say it.
- 9:58They will happily wash the plates, clean the house, clean
- 10:02the toilet, pull, go to. They will do those things.
- 10:06They are they will have factory resets when they are getting
- 10:09married to, to, to somebody else.
- 10:13But because they think we Nigerians or Nigerian women,
- 10:17we've been brought up to literally worship some men, we
- 10:25should take all those things. Let me know what you think.
- 10:29As a lady, would you be willing to sell up a property or sign
- 10:34off your property to your husband just for peace to reign?
- 10:39Or as a man, would you refuse to marry somebody because that
- 10:44person has a property or is living better than you?
- 10:50Or if they are not willing to downgrade their lifestyle to fit
- 10:55into your lifestyle then you're not going to marry them?
- 11:00Are we upgrading or down grading?
- 11:02This is why I say this question. So it just doesn't make sense to
- 11:05me. Do you want to upgrade or do you
- 11:08want to downgrade should be the question that you know you
- 11:12should be asking yourself. But I have learned that some
- 11:16people are very happy to suffer. Hey, some people are very happy
- 11:21to suffer. So those ones that are happy to
- 11:23suffer, look for your suffering needs and continue and leave
- 11:27this, the ones that want to actually be very successful
- 11:31life, leave them alone. You don't have to come and
- 11:34traumatise somebody's daughter, telling her sell off your house
- 11:38or sign off your properties to me if you want me to to be your
- 11:41husband. And what are you bringing to the
- 11:43table? What exactly are you bringing to
- 11:45the table? She's going to bring all those
- 11:47properties. She's going to bring her womb,
- 11:49she's going to cook, she's going to clean, she's going to give
- 11:52birth. She's going to take care of the
- 11:54children. She's going to run the home.
- 11:56She's still going to bring money.
- 11:59What is the man bringing? And people want to to be asking
- 12:03why this generation of women don't want to get married or why
- 12:07the divorce rate is high. We are not going to take what
- 12:09our mothers do. Clockets, let me know what you
- 12:15think. Thank you very much for watching
- 12:17today's episode. Please like, like, like and
- 12:18share. Thank you very much for
- 12:19watching. Bye bye.
