- Jessica Sanchez: after I get that degree, I just want to jump out of an airplane. I just want to do something crazy, like unexpected, like just for me. Mel C: Hello, welcome back to another episode of Six Figure Chicks. I am Melcy joined by Jessica Sanchez. Jessica, share with me and the community your awesomeness. Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. You know, it's hard when somebody asks that question and you're like, how do I like boil this down? And also you're like, that's you know, so self-serving. But just brief description. I am a wife, a mama, daughter, sister, and a friend. I think it's always easier to use words that other people use to describe me. So the people closest to me would probably describe me as passionate, driven. I'm an achiever. I'm servant-hearted and recovering perfectionist. And we can dive into that a little later too, if we want to. But more importantly, I think in my journey, I've really discovered that my true identity just lies in the fact that like I know I'm a child of God and I was made on purpose for a purpose. And so with all of that being said, I'm currently in the messy middle and I think that that makes me awesome. I Left a six-figure career about two and a half years ago to embark on an entrepreneurial journey and basically feel like I'm starting from what feels like zero, but it's been so awesome because it's been this path of self-discovery and trust in something that I know is bigger than me. And so right now I feel like I'm being led to help women founders generate more revenue, release resentment, and Build the confidence and more importantly, the conviction needed to charge more for the value of their work, especially if they're a service provider. So I just believe and I know in my heart that when women earn more money, they end up giving that back, pouring it into their families and into the broader community from their place of generosity. And so that is now my mission forging ahead. Mel C: Mm. I yes, I love it. And as soon as I met you and had some more one on one time with you, speaking about what you love doing is yeah, giving back The confidence to other women to really celebrate our success. Ask for more money is like the most amazing myself included. Like Jessica Sanchez: So hard. Yeah. Mel C: we have a challenging time asking about those things that we deserve and that Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. Mel C: are, you know, for our products and services and what they're worth. And yeah, our worth. It's a big one. We need we need to ask for more. You already hear. Ask for more money. So yes, Jessica Sanchez: And that's for more. Yes. Mel C: you have made an incredible transition and going down your own pathway, which I applaud. And the more women that you know are there to support each other, the more successful we can become. So Jessica Sanchez: Absolutely. Mel C: What is one thing a lot of people don't know, which, you know, I'm sure I definitely don't know because I didn't break down your history that much when we were talking. Jessica Sanchez: yeah, I what do people not know about me? Like I took a more traditional path, like in my career, like definitely played it safe. And so I think people look at me and I'm also a just like self described planner. and what people don't know about me is that the day after I graduated college, I jumped out of an airplane. Like I went skydiving and like totally took a physical risk. but it was so Good for me. I had always said, like, I was such a student, like high achiever, like I said, just constantly wanted to check the boxes. And I remember telling my boyfriend at the time, he's now my husband. but I was like, when I after I get that degree, I just want to jump out of an airplane. I just want to do something crazy, like unexpected, like just for me. And I just said it flippantly. But then as my parents like left to drive back to California, he was like, Okay, this is what we're doing. And I was like, What? And we did it. And I called my parents after we landed. I was safe. You know, I was like, hey, by the way, I'm okay. But I just need to let you know that I just jumped out of an airplane and you're probably gonna see pictures on social media. So yeah. Not a lot of people know that. I don't like share that story really often or ever because people don't ask me cool questions like this, but yeah. Mel C: Yeah. I mean and that's great because you took a huge leap. Like if somebody had come up to me after I said something just loosely, I'd be like, no, no thank you. Yeah. Jessica Sanchez: I was just kidding. Mel C: I'd be like, no, take back please because Jessica Sanchez: Mm-hmm. Mel C: that is scary. Like, so how did you get the guts to get in the plane and then step off the plane? Jessica Sanchez: Well, it was a tandem jump. So I think I was just kind of like forced out, you know? which is good. Like sometimes I need that. Like I think this entrepreneurial journey was a forcing of that. So maybe that was a little bit of foreshadowing. but yeah, I think again, I like a plan. And so My boyfriend, you know, now husband, he planned it out. It wasn't like we're just doing this. Like he did research, he knew where we were going, you know, I trusted him. And so I didn't really have to think about anything other than signing the legal paperwork and putting on the gear. Yeah, pretty Mel C: Signing your life away? Jessica Sanchez: much. Yeah. Mel C: If you fall to your death, we're not responsible. Sign here. Jessica Sanchez: Right. Mm hmm. Mel C: Okay, so talking about challenging times, like taking the leap for that instance definitely impacted your life going forward, whether you thought about it or not. And now Jessica Sanchez: Mm-hmm. Okay. Mel C: you are in complete chaos entrepreneurship world. Jessica Sanchez: Mm. Mel C: Like how has that been going from that safe nine to five and going into the unknown entrepreneurship? what is some of the biggest challenges you've faced? Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. trust in myself. believing in myself, I think is has been something that I've been learning. honestly, the entrepreneurial journey is not as scary as being in a six-figure role and job that was misaligned with my purpose. Like that is actually a lot more scary and risky to me. and I lived that life for a really long time. Like that was like I think one of my biggest roadblock moments. Like in my career, I had faced a lot of business challenges working for other entrepreneurs for over a decade at boutique marketing agencies and like a startup in between. So I seen and experienced and traversed hard business challenges financially, you know, with payroll, with pipeline, with team member issues. Like I saw it all as the right hand to these entrepreneurs building their businesses and helping them build their businesses until it came to a point where I was like, I don't know if this is what I meant to do, like to push their dreams forward and the work that they want to do, specifically working within like the tech industry. I evolved and I changed and I just realized like. I got myself here and it's really secure. And I do have that six-figure paycheck, and I love having that six-figure paycheck. and it's steady, but it came at a cost. Like it came at a cost of my sanity, quite honestly. It came at a cost of just the time for my family and doing the things that I know I was meant to be doing. Yes, entrepreneurship is scary and it is risky and it does not come without its battles. Like I am definitely battling every single day to build and grow a business, but I wake up and do it every morning because I know it's gonna have a broader impact. And it's more than just me. It's not just about me, it's about the women that I feel called and led to serve to help them increase their financial freedom. So it's worth it. It's worth the risk. Mel C: Yeah. What do you say to yourself to get yourself out of bed in the morning, every morning? Jessica Sanchez: Lord be with me today. Lord be with me today. Because if I try and do it on my own or in my own strength, and I've done I've done that for a very long time, it's not sustainable. Like inevitably we'll reach burnout. And I have reached burnout, and I just so empathize with any other woman who might be listening to this who might be also on that verge. don't Let yourself get too far in that cycle because it is very hard to kind of dig your way out. and it doesn't have to be like that. Like you can find a community of women, you can find a mentor. you don't have to do it alone. Like just share what you're going through and like somebody will be there to kind of help guide you out of it. Yeah. Mel C: Yeah. Yeah. Most definitely. So speaking of other women, your younger self, you know, post college, you you jump out of a plane. What Jessica Sanchez: Mm-hmm. Correct. Mel C: what would you tell her now? Jessica Sanchez: I would tell her to bet on herself. I would tell her, like, don't be afraid. Like you jumped out of a plane, you know, like if you can do that, you can bet on yourself in your career, in your, you know, entrepreneurial vision and hope and dream. You don't have to check all the boxes, you know, from like what the I guess society or culture says that you should do with like working in a corporate environment, climbing the ladder. doing all of that. Like if I could go back and tell her there is another path forward and just do it now, I I would tell her to take the risk. Like, just do it. Yeah. Mel C: Yeah, it's like so scary, but yes, if we could and and that's where the great part comes in is there are hundreds of thousands of young women out there that may just need to hear that. And so thank you for sharing it, you know, 'cause somebody listening, you know, she could be sixty and be like, I just don't know what to do with my life. I need to change it. Like, okay, let's change it now. Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Like that's the beauty of this life is that like we all we have choices and we can make different choices every single day. And there isn't one script that we're all supposed to follow. It's like if you feel it in your bones, if you feel it in your heart, tell whatever that voice in your head that's like making you doubt yourself to just be quiet. and yeah, like bet on yourself. Mel C: Yeah. Alright, so we're all jazzed about you jumping out of the plane. I mean I am. So what is one great song that can kind of hype you up just the same? And maybe Jessica Sanchez: Mm-hmm. Mel C: you're feeling down or maybe you just got like tons of to-do's on that list. Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. this song, I've been asked this question before in different like formats, and I just love like my answer stays the same and has stayed the same since I was like 10 years old, you know. it is this 90s bop from Desre called You Gotta Be. And it is like the ultimate like pump up song for me. Like It's just a feel good and the lyrics are amazing. Like the whole chorus is like, you gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger, you gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together. All I know, all I know is that love will save the day. And I'm like, Yes, absolutely. I resonate with all of that. Mel C: Yes. I mean I yeah, I know that song as soon as you started saying the lyrics. So I was like, I'm beating a lot over here, going, Yes, I love that song. Yeah, Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. Yeah. Mel C: so it will go on the playlist, but you know, you heard it here. If you need a little pick me up, that's a great song. even Yeah. Jessica Sanchez: Yes, on repeat. Listen to it. Mel C: Now it's going to be on repeat on my side for the rest Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. Mel C: of the afternoon. Okay, so you're just starting out. I'm sure you're like networking, you know, doing all of that jazz. Not you're just starting out. You've been doing this for a couple of years, but where can people find you? What's the best place online? Jessica Sanchez: Yeah, so on the socials, I'm on LinkedIn and Instagram. LinkedIn Jessica Sanchez, there's a bunch of us, but if you do, you know, backslash Jessica Sanchez two in the URL, it's easier to kind of find me that way. On Instagram, it's just at Jessica Sanchez Coaching. And I keep everything very simple. So website www.jesscasanchez coaching dot com. And my email, if anybody wants to reach out, Jessica Sancho's coaching at gmail.com. So pretty, easy. You think if you just put Jessica Sancho's coaching into anything, you'll likely find me. So yeah, and if there are any listeners, you know, who are curious about increasing their pricing, and if they do have that voice in their head that's telling them like just keep the status quo, it's safer, or if you feel like you're on that verge of burnout, like please holler at me. through any of those channels, like I'd love to just chat with you and just let you know like you're not alone. Mel C: Yeah. I love it. And one bonus thing before we go, I don't really do this a lot, but like people are at that burnout point of like, I don't know if I'm charging enough or Jessica Sanchez: Mm-hmm. Mel C: I'm not making enough money from what I'm doing, but I feel like I am worth so much more. Like what Jessica Sanchez: Mm. Mel C: would you tell them now? Like what's one golden nugget they can walk away with? Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. Well, first, like, yes, making money is a great thing. Having six figures, awesome and beyond awesome. But also the number that you make doesn't define you. So, first and foremost, I just wanna say that, right? Like your worthiness does not come from how much you make. but if you are curious about like, ooh, I really should be charging for the value of my work and I don't know where to start or what's something that's easy. One, I would just say like focus in on your identity and who you are as a person. Again, like just focus on what gifts, talent, skills do I have that are unique to me? How does that show up in my work to the clients that I really enjoy working with? And go from there, like and repeat it to yourself on a daily basis. Like that's truly the foundation and where it starts. And then everything else after that, all the tactical and foundational practical business things end up like building from that foundation of just understanding, you know, who you are as a person, you're worthy because you're here on this planet as a human being. and then really just standing in that and being confident and then sharing those gifts with the people you're meant to share them with. Mel C: Yeah, confidence is key. Like it changes the trajectory of so many pathways for you. It like opens up doors you never thought were possible. Conversations are starting. You're like, wow, how did how come I never met that person before? It's yeah. Jessica Sanchez: Right. What's the belief? Yeah. Mel C: The self-belief in the way that you carry yourself, you know, people want to be around happy people, smart people, people they can learn from and enjoy their time. And if, you know, you walk into a room with a big smile and open arms, people are gonna gravitate towards you. Jessica Sanchez: Yeah. Yeah. Mel C: Yeah, most definitely. Well, thank you so much Jessica for being on the show. I hope the listeners grab some Jessica Sanchez: Thank you for having me. Mel C: golden nuggets. Yeah.
