- 1:21Oh, and some other good news.
- 1:22So I'm actually just about into my third
- 1:24chapter of my roughly 10 chapter book.
- 1:28So very excited about that.
- 1:31And yeah, it looks like it's going to
- 1:33be on the market even sooner than the
- 1:37end of the year.
- 1:37I think we might even be there by
- 1:39summer or maybe just after summer, so I'm
- 1:41really excited about that.
- 1:42All right, guys, let's kick this show off
- 1:44because I know you've been waiting for a
- 1:46while and so have I.
- 1:48Today we're talking, well, this week we're talking
- 1:51all about your life.
- 1:52It's built by choice.
- 1:52It's integrity.
- 1:53It's clarity.
- 1:54It's inner power.
- 1:56And that's important to understand.
- 1:57So welcome, everyone, to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 2:00I am John C.
- 2:02Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:07podcast host, coach, graduate student, and a passionate
- 2:09lifelong learner, and it is my privilege and
- 2:11pleasure and honor to be with you here
- 2:12this evening.
- 2:13This episode is titled Your Life is Built
- 2:15by Choice, Integrity, Clarity, and Inner Power.
- 2:18That's what we're going on for the whole
- 2:19week.
- 2:20And this is very important to understand in
- 2:25our awareness and discipline and intentional living because
- 2:27the truth, ladies and gentlemen, is simple.
- 2:33Life is shaped by the choices you make,
- 2:36not just the big choices, but by the
- 2:38small repeated ones that train your nervous system,
- 2:42shaping your habits and quietly defining your future
- 2:45and who you are.
- 2:46See, people think that when you make a
- 2:48choice one time that, you know, that's it.
- 2:51Well, you keep doing it, and when you
- 2:52get into pattern and when it becomes like
- 2:54autonomous and automatic, then it starts to stick
- 2:57with you, right, and then it just happens
- 2:58without even thinking.
- 3:00All right.
- 3:00So our first point here comes from choosing
- 3:03with awareness.
- 3:06Every choice trains your nervous system, repeating.
- 3:09Decisions become automatic, and I think that's an
- 3:12important thing for us to understand.
- 3:14They don't become automatic, as I said, overnight.
- 3:17They become automatic over time.
- 3:21Maybe you have done this before.
- 3:22Maybe you've gone to grandma's house or you've
- 3:24gone somewhere like home, and maybe you meant
- 3:26to go somewhere else, but the car always
- 3:28seems to make the right.
- 3:29I know I've done that many times, and
- 3:31it's like I'm going to grandma's house.
- 3:33No, no, I'm not going to grandma's house.
- 3:34I'm going somewhere else, but the car is
- 3:35like already going that way, right?
- 3:37Or maybe you always go one way to
- 3:39go to the office, and suddenly you need
- 3:40to make a left.
- 3:41You're like, oh, why am I making it
- 3:42right?
- 3:42I'm not going to the office today.
- 3:43So you get my point.
- 3:45Number two, guys, number two is awareness turns
- 3:48reaction into power by creating space between the
- 3:53stimulus and the response.
- 3:57And notice I said creating space, okay?
- 4:01Creating space is not something you do one
- 4:04time.
- 4:05Creating space is something you do over and
- 4:07over and over and over again.
- 4:09Yeah, that's a very important thing to understand,
- 4:15and I hope that you will embrace that
- 4:18because that's where truth lies, guys.
- 4:21That's where success starts to form, all right?
- 4:26Not the one-time stuff, all right?
- 4:28That's important to know.
- 4:29Number three, guys, pausing is a form of
- 4:32control because it interrupts impulsive patterns.
- 4:37You know, maybe you're just doing something because
- 4:40somebody else told you to do it, or
- 4:41you're doing it because you always did it,
- 4:43but are you really paying attention to it?
- 4:45I think that's the question.
- 4:46And if you're not paying attention to it,
- 4:48then that can be your downfall.
- 4:50That can take you away from the success
- 4:52that you've always wanted to have in your
- 4:54life.
- 4:55Number four, guys, choice begins before action.
- 5:01Often in thought and in the attention, you've
- 5:04made the choice to do something or to
- 5:06not do something, and I think that's a
- 5:09very important thing for us to realize and
- 5:13to understand is that choice, and we have
- 5:16so many kinds of choice, guys, but for
- 5:21whatever reason, we don't choose.
- 5:23Is it that we're lazy?
- 5:24Is it that we feel everything's just going
- 5:26the way it is and I don't want
- 5:27to?
- 5:30What's the real reason?
- 5:31And I think sometimes people, they get stuck
- 5:41into a certain way, and that way people
- 5:45feel is right, but isn't always.
- 5:50You see, when something is too easy at
- 5:53the get-go, okay, then you're probably missing
- 5:57something.
- 5:59You're moving forward, but you're missing something.
- 6:05Not to say things are hard, but when
- 6:08something just comes easy and you don't have
- 6:09a chance to even breathe or make a
- 6:12choice, you might be missing a potential opportunity.
- 6:16That's all I'm saying.
- 6:18So as I said, choice begins before the
- 6:19action, often in thought and in the attention
- 6:22that you put toward it.
- 6:23Number five, guys, impulse trades, long-term clarity
- 6:28for short-term relief.
- 6:31I know we all want to get the
- 6:34quick, right, the quick fix, but that's not
- 6:36the way it goes.
- 6:39We want to understand the moment.
- 6:41We want to understand the minute.
- 6:42We understand why something is working a certain
- 6:44way, and the reason I say this to
- 6:48you is because if you understand like one
- 6:51thing, then maybe you can understand a lot
- 6:55of things in your life, things that maybe
- 6:57you didn't quite understand for whatever reason, and
- 7:01these things are not bad, but they're just
- 7:03a certain way, and they just kind of
- 7:07make you, let's say, go a certain way.
- 7:13And again, that's not a bad thing, guys.
- 7:15That's just where you are in this current
- 7:18moment, and this moment can change.
- 7:21Yes, it can.
- 7:22Number six, conscious decisions reduce regret by aligning
- 7:27action with the true intention.
- 7:30Notice I said aligning, okay?
- 7:33When we are in alignment, life works better,
- 7:40okay?
- 7:42And alignment helps us to understand who we
- 7:46are, why we're becoming something, and what we
- 7:50can do, okay?
- 7:52And that's a very, very important thing.
- 7:57It's about something that a lot of people
- 8:01just don't seem to catch, and that catching
- 8:05is about, you know, what are you currently
- 8:09paying attention to?
- 8:11There's a lot of stimuli in the environment,
- 8:13but are you paying attention to things that
- 8:15are going to help elevate you or to
- 8:17things that are going to, let's say, drop
- 8:20you?
- 8:20I mean, I'm just being quite honest about
- 8:22that, all right?
- 8:23So, that's important to understand.
- 8:27And as I said, number seven, awareness creates
- 8:30the emotional safety by reducing uncertainty.
- 8:33When we talk about awareness, we are suddenly,
- 8:37let's say, transported into a different place.
- 8:43Maybe not sure of where we're going to
- 8:45be, but maybe the fact that this is
- 8:49going to be something pretty amazing for us,
- 8:52maybe it's going to give us a new
- 8:53start.
- 8:54I mean, maybe, maybe, maybe not.
- 8:55But one thing about these things is that
- 8:58when we become intentional about our surroundings, about
- 9:02what we're doing, we have a heck of
- 9:05a better chance of succeeding, all right?
- 9:08That's an important thing.
- 9:10Number eight, guys, attention is direction.
- 9:13What you focus on grows.
- 9:18Nightingale Cohn had said this a long time,
- 9:20what we focus on, we become, right?
- 9:23And a lot of other great scholars and
- 9:26motivational people have said this.
- 9:28What we focus on, we become, we bring
- 9:31about some very important things.
- 9:34And these are things that a lot of
- 9:36people don't realize because they're stuck in before.
- 9:41And they don't get present in the moment.
- 9:44And I found that when you're not present
- 9:45in the moment, it's like you're on a
- 9:48completely different wavelength.
- 9:50You're not even in the same stadium.
- 9:52You know, like if you're watching the baseball
- 9:54game or the football game, you can't even
- 9:57watch it because you're not even in the
- 9:58same stadium that it's playing.
- 10:00That's just the best way to say that.
- 10:02Number nine, power lives in the present moment,
- 10:05not the past or the future.
- 10:07So you can see why I keep telling
- 10:09you that we have to focus on our
- 10:11present moment, our present moment.
- 10:15Our present moment is something that a lot
- 10:20of people just don't, they don't get.
- 10:26And when I say they don't get it,
- 10:29they don't want to get it.
- 10:31They could get it, but they don't get
- 10:32it because they're not putting true intention to
- 10:36something.
- 10:37And intention is about you doing something because
- 10:42you wholeheartedly believe in it, not because it's
- 10:45some cockamamie idea that just you pulled out
- 10:49of somewhere.
- 10:49It's not something that you didn't believe in.
- 10:52When something you didn't believe in, well, it
- 10:54doesn't really matter if it works.
- 10:56But when you believe in something, you follow
- 10:58it through to the nth degree.
- 11:00You're passionate about it.
- 11:02All right.
- 11:04Number 10, guys, choice breaks autopilot by restoring
- 11:09agency, which is basically restoring your authority to
- 11:13who you are as a person and what
- 11:16you stand for and what you mean.
- 11:18I think those are important things, guys.
- 11:21Building clarity and staying calm.
- 11:23I know that sounds easier to do, but
- 11:25you all can do it.
- 11:27It's just that we've taken our whole lives
- 11:30into letting people push our buttons and letting
- 11:35them put us in a place that puts
- 11:37us of dis-ease, right?
- 11:40And when we talk about either a disease
- 11:42or we talk about an issue where we
- 11:45don't feel comfortable, that ease, that dis-ease
- 11:49is our body not being comfortable.
- 11:52But do we pay attention to it?
- 11:54Oftentimes, no.
- 11:54We say, oh, it'll pass.
- 11:56But then when it keeps rearing its head,
- 11:59we don't do anything about it.
- 12:01Number 11, guys, awareness slows chaos by bringing
- 12:04order to the mind.
- 12:07So when I talk about awareness, it doesn't
- 12:10mean that you have to master it in
- 12:12like 30 seconds or even in five minutes
- 12:14or even in a day.
- 12:16Awareness just gets you to put your perspective
- 12:19on something.
- 12:20I'm going to give you an example.
- 12:21If I asked you guys all now to
- 12:24be aware of your heartbeat without touching it,
- 12:26you all could probably tune into your heartbeat.
- 12:29If I asked you right now to tune
- 12:31into your eyes, your eyelids and notice how
- 12:36they feel, isn't that pretty cool?
- 12:39When we put our focus on something, we
- 12:43get control of it.
- 12:45We can sense it.
- 12:50Number 12, noticing patterns changes outcomes by making
- 12:55behavior visible.
- 12:58I didn't say invisible.
- 12:59I said visible.
- 13:02Number 13, conscious living reduces friction by eliminating
- 13:07unnecessary resistance.
- 13:10So there's a certain bit of resistance in
- 13:12life we need.
- 13:13For example, if we didn't have some resistance,
- 13:16you know, we wouldn't be able to walk.
- 13:18We would not be able to walk at
- 13:21all because we need certain resistance to be
- 13:24able to move forward.
- 13:24That's a very, very important thing.
- 13:27Number 14, awareness creates options where reaction sees
- 13:32none.
- 13:35So we can either be proactive or we
- 13:39can be reactive.
- 13:40And I've said this before, when we are
- 13:42reactive, it's more costly, not just financially, but
- 13:46also a toll on who we are, okay?
- 13:52A toll of who we are and what
- 13:54we stand for, okay?
- 13:57And that's an important thing to understand, right?
- 14:02Who we stand for.
- 14:08And that means something.
- 14:13I think the meaning is what we put
- 14:19on it, what we put on.
- 14:30And I'm telling you that our perception, guys,
- 14:34creates our reality.
- 14:36Whether you're in the Olympics or, you know,
- 14:42whether you're just in business or whether you're
- 14:47just striding in your day.
- 14:50The value we put on something, even though
- 14:54it's perceived, becomes our true reality.
- 14:59Now, not overnight, right?
- 15:02I'm gonna give you another example.
- 15:04A lot of people think of money, all
- 15:06right?
- 15:07And they put a value on money.
- 15:10They call money by its wrong name.
- 15:15John, what are you talking about?
- 15:16Money doesn't have a name.
- 15:17Yeah, it does.
- 15:18So money, people call money scarce.
- 15:21People call money hard to get, slippery.
- 15:26Change your name for money.
- 15:30Money supplies me.
- 15:33I am rich.
- 15:34I am free.
- 15:37Change your vocabulary toward money and you're gonna
- 15:41find that it shows up more.
- 15:43You'll find that money chases you.
- 15:45Now, this is not a show about money
- 15:46tonight, but I wanted to give you that
- 15:49little dialogue.
- 15:50The reason a lot of people have it
- 15:51slipping through their hands is because they're always
- 15:55saying they don't have enough.
- 15:57They're saying that money's so hard to come
- 16:02by.
- 16:03Of course, if you call somebody with those
- 16:05names, they're gonna be hard to get.
- 16:07You've gotta change your inner dialogue about money
- 16:10if you want more of it in your
- 16:12life.
- 16:13Number 15, you cannot change what you refuse
- 16:18to notice.
- 16:20This links back to something very important I've
- 16:22talked about many times, and that is when
- 16:25we measure something, we can change it.
- 16:30When we can't get a reading or measure
- 16:33it, we can never change it.
- 16:36Something that cannot be measured can never be
- 16:38changed.
- 16:40Number 16, guys, choice strengthens identity by reinforcing
- 16:45who you are becoming.
- 16:48Who you are right now is because of
- 16:51the thoughts you had in the past.
- 16:54That's where it comes from.
- 16:56It doesn't come from anywhere else.
- 16:58The thoughts you had in the past created
- 17:00who you are now.
- 17:01If you don't like who you are now,
- 17:03good news, you can change it.
- 17:06This is only a temporary you if you
- 17:08don't like it.
- 17:08You can change your thoughts.
- 17:10You can change your actions just by changing
- 17:12your thoughts about money and by giving it
- 17:16a better name like money supplies me, money
- 17:22makes me rich, money frees me.
- 17:26By giving it these names, you invite it
- 17:30into your life as opposed to, oh my
- 17:31gosh, money stress, like that's what a lot
- 17:33of people do.
- 17:35And then they wonder why they don't have
- 17:37any of it.
- 17:38All right, number 17, awareness builds confidence quietly
- 17:44without external validation.
- 17:48That means you don't need somebody patting on
- 17:49your back.
- 17:50Just by you being aware of something is
- 17:52enough to get you to be where you
- 17:55wanna be.
- 17:57All right, that's what's important.
- 18:03It gets you to be where you wanna
- 18:05be, not because of anything else, but your
- 18:11perceptions.
- 18:14Your perceptions create your reality.
- 18:22And you might say, John, how is that
- 18:23possible?
- 18:24Well, your perceptions start to become part of
- 18:26your subconscious.
- 18:28Your subconscious starts to affect your behavior and
- 18:31also affects your filters, your lenses of what
- 18:33you see and don't see.
- 18:35Without getting too deep in this, based on
- 18:38how our eyes are in alignment can tell
- 18:42us what colors we can see better.
- 18:46Pretty cool, right?
- 18:48Number 18, decision shape energy, clarity conserves it.
- 18:55Confusion, I'm sure you knew this, drains it,
- 19:02it drains it.
- 19:04That's pretty cool, guys.
- 19:16It drains it pretty well.
- 19:23That's important, right?
- 19:28And I wanna tell you that this is
- 19:30something that you probably never knew was possible,
- 19:36but it is.
- 19:42And that's something that a lot of people
- 19:44don't understand because they allow the subconscious to
- 19:53poison them, to block them from the potential
- 19:58that they actually could get.
- 20:02Number 19, self-observation sharpens the judgment by
- 20:05improving the observation.
- 20:08I didn't say to chastise yourself, I said
- 20:10to observe because by observing in a kindful
- 20:16way, it sharpens your judgment going forward.
- 20:20Number 20, guys, awareness interrupts old habits before
- 20:24they repeat.
- 20:29Awareness interrupts old habits before they repeat.
- 20:32Awareness interrupts old habits before they repeat.
- 20:36That's power, guys.
- 20:39Number 21, we're talking about developing our inner
- 20:42power.
- 20:44Choice creates self-trust through consistent follow-through.
- 20:48Not something we just did one time.
- 20:50Nope.
- 20:51Something we do over and over and over
- 20:53again.
- 20:54That's what nails it.
- 20:58Number 22, conscious action feels calmer because it
- 21:06reduces inner conflict.
- 21:11Conflict, something maybe you didn't think was even
- 21:14around you.
- 21:15You might say, John, I don't have conflict.
- 21:19Okay, then I'm gonna ask you a question.
- 21:21If you don't have conflict, why are you
- 21:25procrastinating?
- 21:26Why are you not getting to the next
- 21:28level?
- 21:30Don't blame the people around you.
- 21:32Don't blame the weather.
- 21:33Don't blame the money you have in your
- 21:35pocket.
- 21:36Don't blame your parents.
- 21:38Don't blame your boyfriend, your girlfriend.
- 21:42Don't blame your surroundings.
- 21:46We need to take responsibility, accountability, all right,
- 21:50yes, that is my fault.
- 21:51I am the one responsible for that.
- 21:56Number 23, awareness reduces emotional waste by preventing
- 21:59overreaction.
- 22:01Awareness is a pretty powerful guy, isn't it?
- 22:05Very powerful.
- 22:06Number 24, presence increases accuracy in decision-making.
- 22:11Presence, so awareness is a kind of presence,
- 22:15isn't it?
- 22:16It's a presence where we are now aware
- 22:19of things in our surrounding, things our body's
- 22:25involved or part of.
- 22:28The atmosphere, that's important, guys.
- 22:34Number 25, choice creates alignment between values and
- 22:40behavior.
- 22:41Choice creates the bridge between your core values,
- 22:49your behavior or your action, the way you
- 22:52go about your day, the responses you have
- 22:56toward other people.
- 22:58I'm not talking about the one-offs because
- 23:00we've all had the one-offs where maybe
- 23:02something didn't go the way you want.
- 23:03That's not consistent with you.
- 23:05That might just be something that happened for
- 23:06whatever reason, but that's not consistent.
- 23:08We're concerned about the patterns in your life,
- 23:11not the one-offs, not the, oh, I
- 23:13said this by, no, that happens, don't kill
- 23:17yourself with that, all right?
- 23:19Choice creates alignment between values and behavior, and
- 23:22we've learned from many things in our body.
- 23:25For example, when our eyes are in perfect
- 23:26alignment, we see better, we see with less
- 23:30strain, they use less energy, we focus better,
- 23:38that's cool.
- 23:40Number 26, guys, awareness reveals priorities by exposing
- 23:46what truly matters in your life.
- 23:51Awareness, awareness, that's key, guys.
- 23:59Awareness is noticing what's going on in your
- 24:02life, measuring it, and then being able to
- 24:05make a change over that, okay, being able
- 24:09to make a change over that.
- 24:16Changes can be made very easily if we
- 24:18are aware of them.
- 24:22If we're not, then we can't make the
- 24:24changes.
- 24:25We can never change what we don't have
- 24:29data on, and if we don't ever become
- 24:31aware of something, we never can tell if
- 24:34we're in alignment or not.
- 24:36Number 27, guys, power begins with noticing what
- 24:41influences you.
- 24:44Another way of saying awareness, isn't it?
- 24:47Noticing what influences you, what causes you to
- 24:51react or respond, or even to become, even
- 24:57to become.
- 25:00That's powerful, guys, very, very powerful.
- 25:05Power begins with noticing what influences you.
- 25:08So this power is not a dictator-type
- 25:10power.
- 25:11It's a power that is a soft power,
- 25:16a control power that allows us to manage
- 25:20our body's resources, allows us to stay calm,
- 25:27allows us to express gratitude, love, and appreciation.
- 25:33Number 28, guys, conscious living simplifies life by
- 25:39removing the excess, right?
- 25:40Removing the excess around the edges, but that
- 25:46only happens when we are conscious.
- 25:49If we're just going through the motions, my
- 25:51friends, you're never gonna see this layer.
- 25:55It will be hidden from you your entire
- 25:57life.
- 26:01How do you access the hidden layer?
- 26:04Pretty straightforward.
- 26:05Become aware.
- 26:09When you're aware, you access the data.
- 26:13The data then comes to you and says,
- 26:16okay, this is what's what.
- 26:21Number 29, guys, awareness replaces regret with responsibility.
- 26:29Choice is the root of direction, 30.
- 26:33Choice is the root of direction, 30.
- 26:38Choice is the root of direction.
- 26:42In our last part, I wanna talk about
- 26:44living intentionally.
- 26:45So living intentionally doesn't mean living perfectly, guys.
- 26:50It means living awake.
- 26:56It means noticing patterns that show up in
- 26:59your life, suddenly questioning your habits, choosing responses
- 27:07instead of reaction.
- 27:09Notice I said that word, choose, choose.
- 27:14When you live with awareness, you reduce stress,
- 27:17you improve clarity, you build emotional strength, you
- 27:19gain confidence without needing approval.
- 27:22Intentional living, guys, is not loud.
- 27:24It's steady, it's grounded, it's powerful.
- 27:28Integrity means your actions match your values.
- 27:32And clarity means your mind is not scattered.
- 27:35Inner power means you trust yourself.
- 27:40These qualities are built daily through awareness, through
- 27:43choice, through discipline.
- 27:44No one sees most of these moments, but
- 27:48they shape everything.
- 27:50If you remember one thing from this episode,
- 27:52remember this, guys, you're always choosing, even when
- 27:55you aren't, you still are.
- 27:57Choosing awareness over autopilot is the key.
- 28:00Choosing clarity over impulse, choosing intention over reaction,
- 28:04that's how inner power is built.
