- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, I'm deaving Hunger h a guitar player. I was
- 0:03Speaker 1: gonna see the guitar, but there's only one guitar player
- 0:04Speaker 1: in the band. So a lot of fun for fifteen years.
- 0:10Speaker 2: For Mike, I'm the drummer.
- 0:13Speaker 3: I've been playing drums for fifteen years something like that,
- 0:17Speaker 3: maybe times three.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Anywhow Yeah, Tony c here on keyboards. I've been playing
- 0:22Speaker 4: since Skirt was new, and uh yeah, it's been a while.
- 0:27Speaker 4: I think I've been in this band since Skirt was new.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Actually he's got it depends endorsement. I can hook you
- 0:33Speaker 4: up their stage model.
- 0:36Speaker 5: Yeah, well with that, I am Brittany uh and I.
- 0:42Speaker 6: I've also been doing music forever and uh yeah, been
- 0:47Speaker 6: in the band. Uh seven years now, Tony and I
- 0:51Speaker 6: have been in the band. So it's a lot of fun.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Lead vocals, Oh yeah, I sing. There's that.
- 0:59Speaker 4: I think. Yeah, it a long time too. Most people know.
- 1:05Speaker 7: Thanks very much for joining us today. Guys, it's a
- 1:07Speaker 7: pleasure to speak with you.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You too, Yeah, you too, Bud, Thanks for having us.
- 1:11Speaker 7: No why is so liberal?
- 1:13Speaker 8: US release a new album, Beautiful Skies, on June to
- 1:15Speaker 8: thirty eighth, so it's not that long after that.
- 1:18Speaker 7: Is how you feel about it.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Can't wait.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I been like getting ready to give birth, you know.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I mean we've been cultivating these things since yeah, probably
- 1:26Speaker 3: last November, you know, getting getting ready to be exactly
- 1:29Speaker 3: where we are. So it's very exciting to know that
- 1:32Speaker 3: it's just around the corner.
- 1:33Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, yeah, you can you dive into it a
- 1:37Speaker 8: bit deeper musically and tell us what you've done for
- 1:39Speaker 8: the summer.
- 1:46Speaker 6: It's definitely beautiful. Scars was so much fun because it's
- 1:50Speaker 6: a concept album. It takes on the Japanese art from
- 1:55Speaker 6: of kinsugi, which is an art form of repair where
- 1:58Speaker 6: when like a piece of pottery is shattered, they'll repair
- 2:02Speaker 6: it used in gold, and so it becomes more beautiful
- 2:05Speaker 6: because it was broken. So we took this and and
- 2:08Speaker 6: sort of used it as an analogy onto a person
- 2:11Speaker 6: and how a person goes through their life and they
- 2:13Speaker 6: get all these scars or they get these these certain things,
- 2:16Speaker 6: and we make a.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Lot of meaning to it. But you know, what if
- 2:18Speaker 5: we meant what if we.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Made it mean that it made you more beautiful? And
- 2:21Speaker 6: what if this is like coming to terms with who
- 2:24Speaker 6: you are? And so the whole album, uh, the whole
- 2:26Speaker 6: concept of the album is that. And then what's cool
- 2:29Speaker 6: is that Limberlost ended up kind of living that, and
- 2:32Speaker 6: you know, we we broke up and and then we
- 2:34Speaker 6: got pieced together with some gold here like the Younger,
- 2:44Speaker 6: we're making it work.
- 2:45Speaker 5: We're making it work.
- 2:45Speaker 6: No, no, no, So it's you know, it's it's really cool.
- 2:48Speaker 6: So it starts like with alien you'll you'll hear lyrics
- 2:51Speaker 6: that that give you a sense of dysphoria about not
- 2:56Speaker 6: feeling safe or feeling alien, you know, in your presence,
- 2:59Speaker 6: and then uh, it moves into just recognition of who
- 3:03Speaker 6: you are, and and then there's you know, velvet and
- 3:06Speaker 6: venoms all the way to the end, beautiful scars. But
- 3:11Speaker 6: every single song inside of there has a story and
- 3:13Speaker 6: has a piece of it. Man on the Run even
- 3:16Speaker 6: as a story about a true story actually about a
- 3:19Speaker 6: whistleblower that we happened to meet in our in our tours,
- 3:23Speaker 6: we happened to meet the whistleblower for the Ignitova case
- 3:26Speaker 6: and he challenged us to write a song, so we
- 3:28Speaker 6: did wrote it for him.
- 3:29Speaker 5: That's on this album.
- 3:30Speaker 6: So there's definitely a you know, when you stand up
- 3:33Speaker 6: and you figure out who you are and what you're
- 3:35Speaker 6: supposed to be in this world and then you you
- 3:38Speaker 6: do that and and you own that's what she said.
- 3:44Speaker 7: What she said to you mentioned this thing on Aileen.
- 3:50Speaker 8: That's also a song that you've released the late singles,
- 3:52Speaker 8: So watch is that one to represent the album?
- 3:56Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I'm curious.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Yeah, because as we started shopping demos, you know, our
- 4:02Speaker 3: management Paul Crosby from uh, you know, he's a rock
- 4:05Speaker 3: drummer from Saliva, you know he you know, I kind
- 4:09Speaker 3: of started, you know, throwing some demos past him as
- 4:11Speaker 3: we started, you know, Brendany and I were kicking these
- 4:13Speaker 3: things out, and then we also had a couple of
- 4:15Speaker 3: label people we were talking to. What we found what
- 4:17Speaker 3: was really funny is as we started sending these things around,
- 4:20Speaker 3: you know, eight five, six, seven, eight songs at a time,
- 4:25Speaker 3: we'd always get back you know, these are my favorite
- 4:27Speaker 3: ones or these are my friend They were always different,
- 4:29Speaker 3: but the one thing that always was consistent is the
- 4:31Speaker 3: number one was Alien. That everybody always fell in love
- 4:34Speaker 3: with that song, and it was kind of something for
- 4:38Speaker 3: me too. I you know, it just kind of really
- 4:40Speaker 3: grew on me heavy personally. And I remember coming in
- 4:43Speaker 3: and tell me, I think Alien's the one you and
- 4:48Speaker 3: and you know, it also represents a pretty good departure
- 4:52Speaker 3: from the Limberloss that we were nothing wrong with the Limberloss.
- 4:56Speaker 3: We were, but we've made a.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Change, you know, both visually and.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Silently, uh, into this new product. So it really is
- 5:07Speaker 3: one of this. I think this kind of stamps down
- 5:10Speaker 3: a little bit. It's not this isn't what you were expecting. Yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 3: the evolution of the evolution. This is even even for
- 5:17Speaker 3: me really no limber loss.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I've known these guys for a long time in my
- 5:21Speaker 1: other bands that I played, and we've pooped on shows
- 5:23Speaker 1: and stuff together, and they've got me on cool bills
- 5:25Speaker 1: and stuff. So I've always I've always not only not
- 5:28Speaker 1: only got to see them as a spectator and seen
- 5:31Speaker 1: them live and stuff. It's just somebody watching their show,
- 5:33Speaker 1: but now being a part of it, and I've seen
- 5:34Speaker 1: it all everything in between that you know, the changes
- 5:37Speaker 1: all in between.
- 5:37Speaker 9: And yeah, it's pretty it's pretty impressive. It's pretty impressive.
- 5:40Speaker 9: Is how well done? Well done this is being so
- 5:43Speaker 9: in my opinion.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I think the theme of the song also had It's
- 5:47Speaker 4: got a kind of a universal theme of like being
- 5:49Speaker 4: feeling out out of the out of the group out
- 5:51Speaker 4: of place, you know, and everybody. It communicates that feeling
- 5:53Speaker 4: really well. I believe the whole concept of don't you
- 5:56Speaker 4: feel a little alien? You know, And there's a few
- 5:59Speaker 4: songs like that the album that I think people are
- 6:01Speaker 4: really going to relate to. It's going to grab something
- 6:03Speaker 4: inside of them because they're universal, universal themes.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And also, you know, let's not discount the fact that
- 6:11Speaker 3: we put a couple of tinfoil hats on here about
- 6:13Speaker 3: six months ago, the Alien Ancient Alien rabbit Hole a
- 6:18Speaker 3: little bit, so there was some inspiration that was, you know, eight,
- 6:22Speaker 3: it's a.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Great show hashtag ancient Aliens.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Ye, don't you feel just a little bit?
- 6:30Speaker 6: But yeah, there's definitely uh yeah, there's there's there's truth
- 6:34Speaker 6: in that in terms of walking down that that alien path.
- 6:39Speaker 6: But then also the lyrics striking just for you. But
- 6:42Speaker 6: it's not the only one too. There's also a loan
- 6:45Speaker 6: which I think, you know a lot of people will
- 6:51Speaker 6: will see themselves, I think, inside of this album, and
- 6:53Speaker 6: that's what that's what we're going for. It was a
- 6:55Speaker 6: reflection of our own journey, but I think one that
- 6:58Speaker 6: a lot of people have gone through.
- 7:00Speaker 1: One of my favorite songs on the album like probably
- 7:02Speaker 1: is my favorite one, and it's not. It's not even
- 7:04Speaker 1: like an upbeat, hardcore rock one or anything. It's just
- 7:06Speaker 1: so well written and put together.
- 7:07Speaker 2: It's really beautiful.
- 7:10Speaker 8: You're spoken about the evolution of the band, say, how
- 7:13Speaker 8: does Beautiful Sky's different music made to your previous album
- 7:16Speaker 8: Good Fighting?
- 7:17Speaker 7: Well Oulder Fans of the band still appreciate the new
- 7:19Speaker 7: with stuff.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I think they will.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I think, what do you think?
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think any any band that changes their sound, whether
- 7:27Speaker 1: it be Motley Crue or Limber Lost, you're gonna gain
- 7:29Speaker 1: and you're gonna lose a few, right, Yeah, maybe hopefully
- 7:32Speaker 1: you gain more than you lose. I think that there's
- 7:33Speaker 1: no way you'll lose more than your game with this
- 7:35Speaker 1: new sound. This sound is is like it's like a
- 7:37Speaker 1: limber Lost.
- 7:38Speaker 9: Two point zero. It's like really good.
- 7:39Speaker 5: You know.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So there might be somebody out there that's like, no,
- 7:42Speaker 1: it's not like the original like what I like, But
- 7:46Speaker 1: there's five other people that are like, oh this is
- 7:48Speaker 1: about us, yea his spot times five, So you know whatever.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Yeah, there are certain things in the earlier albums, not
- 7:55Speaker 4: that not that they're gonna be It's still a Limberlost album.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I think there's still a connection there, but it's just
- 7:59Speaker 4: a modern version and you know that maybe emphasizing a
- 8:04Speaker 4: little less on the blues here, a little less in
- 8:06Speaker 4: the country compared to where some of the earlier stuff was,
- 8:08Speaker 4: and a little more modern rock, a little heavier.
- 8:11Speaker 1: You know, it's definitely more my style. I'm more modern,
- 8:13Speaker 1: heavy rock, metal kind of guy. So like, I like
- 8:16Speaker 1: their old stuff too, but this stuff is way better
- 8:18Speaker 1: in my opinion.
- 8:19Speaker 3: A lot of our old album stuff too was you know,
- 8:21Speaker 3: they were compilation kind of things, like we did single single,
- 8:24Speaker 3: single and.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Then scoop it up and make an album, you know
- 8:26Speaker 2: kind of thing.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So this was a little different departure for us too,
- 8:29Speaker 3: is that we created the whole uh you know, the
- 8:33Speaker 3: whole soundscape all the way through and actually there was
- 8:35Speaker 3: a couple or three signs that didn't make the cut,
- 8:38Speaker 3: and then came up with the ten and said, okay,
- 8:40Speaker 3: here's the album now, this is this is the sound,
- 8:43Speaker 3: this is where we're going for so m hm.
- 8:46Speaker 8: Hell now some queenlyn Belus blimds this so much goun
- 8:50Speaker 8: on me to you guys. He got rock, there's metal,
- 8:52Speaker 8: there's bit of pop, there's blues, there's heaviness. Is he
- 8:56Speaker 8: got so much gown on and on paper that shouldn't work,
- 8:59Speaker 8: but some yous make it so difficult.
- 9:03Speaker 7: Is that you get the balance ride in the creative process.
- 9:09Speaker 4: It's it's challenging primarily because there is so much going on,
- 9:14Speaker 4: and we were we're trying to bring that CD to
- 9:16Speaker 4: the live show. There's so much nothing really repeats on
- 9:19Speaker 4: the on the CD of the album. Every time we
- 9:22Speaker 4: do a chorus or a pre chorus or a verse,
- 9:24Speaker 4: it's different than the last time, and all the breaks
- 9:26Speaker 4: between are different from the you know, so there's a
- 9:29Speaker 4: lot of a lot of used to there's It never
- 9:32Speaker 4: gets boring, I'll tell you that. And we're just trying
- 9:34Speaker 4: to kind of keep with that, keep the sonic, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 4: the soundscape the same, and keep the changes the same
- 9:40Speaker 4: and just kind of bring it to the live show.
- 9:43Speaker 4: But like you say, yeah, there's a lot of different
- 9:45Speaker 4: things there that Fortunately we've got a great lineup of
- 9:48Speaker 4: musicians here that are able to cover pretty much all grounds.
- 9:51Speaker 4: So yeah, we've got we're able to do.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Uh.
- 9:56Speaker 4: You know, if there's anything that we can't on the album,
- 9:58Speaker 4: it's probably because we just don't have enough fingers and
- 10:00Speaker 4: hands and you're eating stuff because there's so there's there's
- 10:03Speaker 4: quite a bit on there, but it's.
- 10:06Speaker 8: Right because there's only one female sitting there. But have
- 10:09Speaker 8: you guys got two female vicals?
- 10:12Speaker 5: Yeah we do. Yeah, Sammy couldn't be here with us today,
- 10:15Speaker 5: right right.
- 10:16Speaker 8: That's one of the one a few bands I can
- 10:18Speaker 8: think of. It's actually got two female laid vitalists. How
- 10:22Speaker 8: do you write the dynamics of that way.
- 10:24Speaker 7: Get a band?
- 10:25Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 10:26Speaker 6: Yeah, we get asked that a lot. Actually, the there
- 10:30Speaker 6: there are several bands out there that, uh that have
- 10:33Speaker 6: several females or two female leads, but I would say
- 10:37Speaker 6: probably the most prominent one is Hart that most people would.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Would think of.
- 10:40Speaker 6: And uh, initially in our formation, they were a big
- 10:43Speaker 6: inspiration for us and you probably can hear that in
- 10:46Speaker 6: some of our songs. And then we sort of deviated
- 10:48Speaker 6: from that in this new album into our own brand
- 10:51Speaker 6: and our own feel and that's what's really exciting.
- 10:53Speaker 5: And and yeah, you know, it's it's different.
- 10:57Speaker 6: It's different than than what you'll then what you would
- 11:00Speaker 6: expect from any other show because we do have those
- 11:04Speaker 6: the two female president and what's amazing is that we
- 11:07Speaker 6: have You know, me and Sammy come from a similar background,
- 11:11Speaker 6: and we come from the same level of education and professionalism,
- 11:16Speaker 6: so there's not really there's no ego between us, you
- 11:19Speaker 6: know what I mean. Yeah, We're always about what serves
- 11:21Speaker 6: the song and what's going to serve the show and
- 11:23Speaker 6: the performance, and that's what's really cool.
- 11:26Speaker 8: Yeah, and you both classically trying to accomplished opera singer.
- 11:30Speaker 8: So out of the two worlds of music transition with each.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Other, like opera three to had rotten sort of metal.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, her and I have have have different stories,
- 11:41Speaker 6: but they the paths just kept kind of crossing like this,
- 11:45Speaker 6: and so that's why we're we're here together.
- 11:47Speaker 5: But we got our we got our bachelor's.
- 11:50Speaker 6: Degrees together at the same place, Northern Arizona University.
- 11:55Speaker 5: She went to Indiana and started to study her master's degree.
- 11:59Speaker 6: I went to Italy and I did a I did
- 12:02Speaker 6: a summer program and I got to do leads. And
- 12:06Speaker 6: that was really enlightening for me because it really was
- 12:09Speaker 6: clear how.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Demanding and competitive, competitive the classical world was.
- 12:16Speaker 6: And while I was a player at that time, I
- 12:20Speaker 6: was actually having more fun going into the little bars
- 12:23Speaker 6: in Italy and like playing on their piano and playing
- 12:25Speaker 6: rock and playing bob and like not singing classical music.
- 12:29Speaker 6: You know. So when I came back, I decided to deviate.
- 12:31Speaker 6: I wanted to find modern styles I wanted to do.
- 12:35Speaker 6: I wanted to find a band, And that's how I
- 12:36Speaker 6: ended up with Limberlost. And so strangely, after we parted ways.
- 12:41Speaker 6: You know, we were not super close friends in our bachelors,
- 12:44Speaker 6: but we knew each other. We were friends vicariously. It's
- 12:47Speaker 6: sort of like you know when you when you get
- 12:49Speaker 6: a when you get a vocal degree, you're kind of
- 12:51Speaker 6: put in someone's studio. It's kind of like a house
- 12:53Speaker 6: in Hogwarts. So like she was she was in like Hufflepuff,
- 12:57Speaker 6: and I was in like Raven Clock, you know what I.
- 12:59Speaker 5: Mean, Because like I knew her.
- 13:01Speaker 6: We were friends, but like I was a raven Plat,
- 13:05Speaker 6: she was a hub Pop.
- 13:05Speaker 5: That's how go.
- 13:10Speaker 6: We end up moving to Seattle the exact same day
- 13:12Speaker 6: out of nowhere. We're like no way. So we become friends,
- 13:15Speaker 6: become really good friends. I join a rock band, she
- 13:18Speaker 6: joins a metal band.
- 13:19Speaker 5: It's just this.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Really cool thing that ended up getting these like weird
- 13:22Speaker 6: ties that we had together that when the when the
- 13:24Speaker 6: opportunity became available and I was looking for who's who
- 13:27Speaker 6: is that second singer going to be in this brand,
- 13:30Speaker 6: she was the one who came to mind, and so
- 13:31Speaker 6: it was really it was very kism.
- 13:33Speaker 4: It was awesome actually, between opera and metal, of all
- 13:37Speaker 4: the kind of popular music genres, there's more cross over there.
- 13:40Speaker 4: They're closer together than any others. And I think the
- 13:43Speaker 4: reason is is to sing metal, well, you have to
- 13:46Speaker 4: have some training unlike a lot of pop music, or
- 13:50Speaker 4: you'll just burn yourself out. And so maybe that's why
- 13:54Speaker 4: now we don't do a lot of operatic style metal
- 13:56Speaker 4: or anything like that. But there is there is. You
- 14:00Speaker 4: can't deny that. There's a lot of that if you
- 14:02Speaker 4: just look for it. And I think they're just closer
- 14:04Speaker 4: than you would think actually.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Lost Also welcome to Kapa Niakins on this album too,
- 14:11Speaker 8: with Steve I'm from Middle Church up there by himself
- 14:14Speaker 8: joining on bison, his son Devin joining on guitar. So
- 14:17Speaker 8: this is your time, DeShawn Jars. What did each of
- 14:19Speaker 8: them bring to the band and this album particularly.
- 14:26Speaker 4: We may be looking for another guitar player.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Okay, so I gotta say that when when we were,
- 14:38Speaker 3: you know, shopping this and starting to think about the
- 14:40Speaker 3: band that was going to pull this off, because, like
- 14:42Speaker 3: Brittany had said, we kind of wed just come off
- 14:44Speaker 3: a little minute, you know. We did the European thing,
- 14:46Speaker 3: and then we had a couple of shows and I
- 14:48Speaker 3: start just rally thing the following year. But the band
- 14:51Speaker 3: was kind of disintegrating a little bit at that point,
- 14:54Speaker 3: and so as we pushed forward, it was very clear
- 14:59Speaker 3: that we probably weren't going to be able to go
- 15:01Speaker 3: forward with the membership that we had and accomplished the
- 15:03Speaker 3: things that we were trying.
- 15:04Speaker 2: To do, not because there wasn't capabilities there.
- 15:07Speaker 3: There's just different creative direction, you know, that was going
- 15:11Speaker 3: to present itself. So I remember that talking to Paul
- 15:16Speaker 3: Crosby and he says, Oh, we'll just hire guys down
- 15:18Speaker 3: here in Nashville and you know, Houston, because that's where
- 15:20Speaker 3: we were at the time.
- 15:21Speaker 2: We were in Nashville, and I.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Was like, you know, there's some people back home I
- 15:25Speaker 3: really would love to explore before we go down that road,
- 15:28Speaker 3: and this kid right here was one of them. The
- 15:33Speaker 3: and Brittanil backed me up and I said, I really
- 15:34Speaker 3: want to talk to Devin. I go because he really
- 15:38Speaker 3: impressed me a couple of times when I'd asked him
- 15:41Speaker 3: to do some work with us, but things just weren't
- 15:43Speaker 3: going to work out.
- 15:43Speaker 2: But it was how he handled that that really impressed me.
- 15:46Speaker 3: And he's just a great player, you know. I'm like, said,
- 15:49Speaker 3: we've been crossing. I saw this kid play when he
- 15:51Speaker 3: was like fifteen.
- 15:51Speaker 7: Yeah, you know.
- 15:52Speaker 3: In fact, I think he opened up cover bands that
- 15:55Speaker 3: I was back then, and you know, and so it
- 15:59Speaker 3: was just kind of that that whole deal was like, yeah,
- 16:01Speaker 3: I really think Devin would be the guy for this,
- 16:03Speaker 3: and especially with some of the stuff we were writing,
- 16:05Speaker 3: I could just see him performing it, which, by the way,
- 16:08Speaker 3: he kills, he brings life to this. The song is
- 16:12Speaker 3: way better than I think we even anticipated, and well,
- 16:16Speaker 3: thank you sir. But it was funny because I reached
- 16:20Speaker 3: out to him and like most you know, thirty year olds,
- 16:22Speaker 3: they don't answer their text right away, and so like
- 16:27Speaker 3: a couple two or three days ago, by it, I
- 16:29Speaker 3: hadn't heard back from him, and I was like, you know,
- 16:31Speaker 3: I really should probably call the old man. You know,
- 16:34Speaker 3: that's who my buddy is. And I don't want to
- 16:36Speaker 3: think I'm a kid and all that so I called
- 16:38Speaker 3: Steve and uh, you know, we were driving around. He's like, well, yeah, heck,
- 16:41Speaker 3: can I go, Well, I'm looking for guitar and looking
- 16:43Speaker 3: for bass. I was trying to reach out to Devin,
- 16:44Speaker 3: and he goes, well, send me the stuff and I'll
- 16:46Speaker 3: check it out and I'll see if I can know
- 16:47Speaker 3: some people and all that. So, you know, I never
- 16:51Speaker 3: really because Steve is one of these guys that you know,
- 16:54Speaker 3: he's well he's a local legend for one, but you know,
- 17:00Speaker 3: he's a you know, you know, he's you know, I've
- 17:04Speaker 3: always looked at Steve and marveled at what he does.
- 17:06Speaker 3: He's full time, you know, he's out there touring. He's
- 17:08Speaker 3: been with Metal Church since the early two thousands, and
- 17:11Speaker 3: you know, I mean I've just you know, he's got
- 17:13Speaker 3: this great story career that he's had and working with
- 17:15Speaker 3: Autograph and several other bands, and you know, it just
- 17:18Speaker 3: didn't really resonate with me that Steve would be either
- 17:22Speaker 3: in a position or.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Interested to do what we were doing.
- 17:24Speaker 3: But I definitely was interested in talking to Devin and
- 17:27Speaker 3: then lo and behold, I sent the stuff to Steve
- 17:29Speaker 3: and he calls me back and he goes, well, what
- 17:32Speaker 3: do you think about having a bass player? You know,
- 17:36Speaker 3: I'll let them tell their stories from there. But you know, I,
- 17:39Speaker 3: you know, it just really was better than I expected
- 17:44Speaker 3: in terms of, you know, having these two joint. I'm
- 17:46Speaker 3: very tickled that they joined. I'm excited that and the
- 17:50Speaker 3: way things have come together and are sounding are just insane.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I can't wait for people to see us live and
- 17:56Speaker 3: see what we're what we're.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Doing and here the album when it pops out here.
- 17:59Speaker 8: In a couple of weeks, Nice I wrote about from
- 18:02Speaker 8: you guys perspective, what did you just want to be
- 18:04Speaker 8: part of me?
- 18:04Speaker 7: Lost you go ahead?
- 18:07Speaker 4: Oh?
- 18:07Speaker 10: Well, uh, like Mike said, you know, he reached out
- 18:11Speaker 10: to uh, to me to see if I knew it
- 18:13Speaker 10: he'd be interested, and uh, you know, at the time,
- 18:17Speaker 10: it's like, there's there was no way, there's really no
- 18:19Speaker 10: way I could take on more work. But I heard
- 18:22Speaker 10: the stuff. I said, send me the tracks that you
- 18:24Speaker 10: guys are working on, and uh I heard it. I
- 18:27Speaker 10: was like, God, damn, these guys spread their wings and
- 18:30Speaker 10: grew up. Man, I mean, this is really good ship.
- 18:36Speaker 2: He said, Yeah. They messaged the two times, but I
- 18:38Speaker 2: haven't gotten back to him yet. And I was like, well,
- 18:41Speaker 2: check this stuff out. Then at to the Devin and
- 18:43Speaker 2: he got back right away. What the fuck? So the material.
- 18:53Speaker 11: That I was like, man, I think we should make
- 18:56Speaker 11: time to be a part of this thing.
- 18:58Speaker 12: And uh, you know, so we've been involved here for
- 19:00Speaker 12: what with you guys, and uh you know you paunched
- 19:05Speaker 12: the album and uh we got dates coming up here, man,
- 19:08Speaker 12: And I'm really excited about all the cool things that
- 19:11Speaker 12: are going to be happening here real soon.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Important takeaway there is that Devin does get his messages,
- 19:18Speaker 4: but he just doesn't respond to them.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Okay, he sent me.
- 19:21Speaker 9: I got one message. I forgot to respond because I.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Think I was a little tipsy when I got it
- 19:25Speaker 1: and I forgot to respond to it. And then my
- 19:27Speaker 1: dad called me and I was like, oh, ship, that's
- 19:29Speaker 1: what I got.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Mike was sexting me a couple of nights ago, and.
- 19:33Speaker 9: I didn't purposely ignore them. I literally just forgot about it.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And then my dad got ahold of me and sent
- 19:39Speaker 1: me the stuff and I was like, yeah, dude, this
- 19:41Speaker 1: is so cool, man, this is bad.
- 19:42Speaker 9: This material is great. Yeah, so I made it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I made a point to get back asap to him
- 19:48Speaker 1: on that, especially after I heard the songs because because like,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I don't really if I didn't actually like the material,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I don't even care if I'm getting paid. Well, if
- 19:55Speaker 1: I don't like the material, it's hard for me to
- 19:56Speaker 1: be interested in any anything if I don't.
- 19:59Speaker 9: But I actually enjoy all of these songs like that.
- 20:01Speaker 9: They're actually good songs in my opinion, So it made
- 20:03Speaker 9: me want to.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Be a part of it, even if it was just
- 20:06Speaker 1: even it was just for like for a feeling or something,
- 20:08Speaker 1: I wanted to learn these songs and play them just
- 20:10Speaker 1: because it was fun and they sounded good. And here
- 20:13Speaker 1: I am and now I'm actually in the band. I'm
- 20:15Speaker 1: grateful to be a part of this project. I think
- 20:17Speaker 1: it's going to go really far.
- 20:19Speaker 7: Yeah, that you just playing this Tuf you got his
- 20:21Speaker 7: both played on the album record.
- 20:25Speaker 1: They put this stuff together. Yeah, so it's our job
- 20:28Speaker 1: to like recreate it. And and that was that was
- 20:31Speaker 1: that was the part, in my opinion, we had.
- 20:34Speaker 11: To learn what was played on the album, and uh,
- 20:38Speaker 11: for me.
- 20:38Speaker 10: It was it was really difficult because it is completely
- 20:43Speaker 10: different from what I would have played.
- 20:45Speaker 7: On an album.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Uh, not that it's not good, because it.
- 20:49Speaker 12: Is good, but it's Uh, the playing on the album
- 20:52Speaker 12: is a whole lot more disciplined.
- 20:55Speaker 11: And each note is accounted for in a each notees
- 21:01Speaker 11: not usually accounted for the way I play, I mean
- 21:04Speaker 11: supported every military album. Yes, they're in a place for
- 21:08Speaker 11: every single note. But it's always it's always been about
- 21:11Speaker 11: pushing and you know, making the band go faster and
- 21:14Speaker 11: faster and harder and harder.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And it's just the opposite with this.
- 21:19Speaker 11: It's about grabbing the reins and pulling the whole thing
- 21:22Speaker 11: back and just like holding this tidal wave of sound
- 21:26Speaker 11: back from crashing on the beach. And so the hard
- 21:29Speaker 11: work of this is less is more, And it's been
- 21:35Speaker 11: the hardest thing for me is to be wrapping my
- 21:37Speaker 11: mind around that, you know, saying less notes, just more
- 21:40Speaker 11: disciplined in the way playing them.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So that's that's been the struggle for me.
- 21:46Speaker 8: Yeah, so so so now you mentioned love shows before,
- 21:49Speaker 8: and you've got a couple coming up. You've got one
- 21:51Speaker 8: and Oldest twenty third on the mind side of the
- 21:53Speaker 8: International Singer Songwriter Association Awards in Atlanta, and the other
- 21:56Speaker 8: is part of the Rock the LUs Festival. I'll set
- 21:59Speaker 8: ten to twenty eight alongside Say That Dirty Honey Blacks
- 22:02Speaker 8: and Cherry and us enough and more so tell us
- 22:04Speaker 8: about that.
- 22:05Speaker 7: I like good shows.
- 22:07Speaker 4: But we've been in contact with the Isaac folks for years,
- 22:10Speaker 4: probably pre COVID. Yeah, so we we actually uh, we
- 22:15Speaker 4: were supposed to be actually playing there and accepting I
- 22:19Speaker 4: think we were banned of the year an album of
- 22:20Speaker 4: the year. Uh, and then then the COVID thing happened
- 22:23Speaker 4: and we can then they canceled it that year. Uh,
- 22:25Speaker 4: we just kind of went to the Midwest and just
- 22:26Speaker 4: started touring it all anywhere that was open. But we've
- 22:30Speaker 4: always been in touch with them, and uh, this year,
- 22:32Speaker 4: this year, we're actually up for I believe four more
- 22:34Speaker 4: awards and we're gonna be presenting an award and we'll
- 22:37Speaker 4: get to play. So I'd be right if we actually
- 22:39Speaker 4: won and got to play. Yeah, but we're putting together
- 22:43Speaker 4: some shows, you know, to make the to make the
- 22:45Speaker 4: trip a little more financially reasonable. We're gonna do some
- 22:48Speaker 4: shows between Texas and Florida and that that's really exciting.
- 22:52Speaker 4: And we've got you know, Third Eye Blind, there's Dirty Honey,
- 22:55Speaker 4: there's uh, what's your favorite band?
- 22:57Speaker 8: That was?
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's actually my favorite. One on the bill
- 23:04Speaker 1: is probably all. We're just on We're not on the
- 23:06Speaker 1: same day unfortunately.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I'm third eye blind man, I'm no way.
- 23:12Speaker 5: That's like some of my first favorite songs and.
- 23:14Speaker 9: Brock Belt Brides will be there, so there will be there.
- 23:16Speaker 1: A lot of a lot of really good bands that
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'd like to see will be We're just on the
- 23:20Speaker 1: same day as a lot of them.
- 23:21Speaker 3: We're actually going to be shows that the the Friday
- 23:24Speaker 3: and the Saturday, Like Tony said, looks like we're gonna
- 23:27Speaker 3: probably in Seattle on that Friday and then in Portland
- 23:29Speaker 3: on that Saturday, and then we go out and play
- 23:31Speaker 3: Sunday out there rock the Locks.
- 23:32Speaker 5: But and we get to play again with Dorothy.
- 23:35Speaker 2: We played with her at the River and Staff and Doughty.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yeah, so we played with Dorry, and we played with
- 23:44Speaker 4: Dirty Honey, We played with Bush and uh yeah, a
- 23:47Speaker 4: lot of those bands at at the Rock and the
- 23:48Speaker 4: Rivers festival in Monchana. Yeah, so it'll be great to
- 23:52Speaker 4: see them again. Not that we're like buds, but yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 4: it'll be good to see them again.
- 23:56Speaker 5: I held hands.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I have some really embarrassing pictures of myself do
- 24:04Speaker 4: with you that nobody will.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I found it very strange because I stood next to
- 24:10Speaker 3: Scott's staff and Daughtry and we all three were the
- 24:12Speaker 3: same size, and I'm I'm not tall, so I was like, Wow,
- 24:16Speaker 3: you guys.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Are just short like me.
- 24:17Speaker 9: This is cool like me.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Well, Scott's staff was short like me, but he was
- 24:21Speaker 2: in heels.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So I don't know.
