- 0:00SPEAKER_00: If you're about to buy retatritide online, there are two important numbers from those retatritide trials, and you've only seen one of them.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I don't mean the weight loss number.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: You've already seen that one, and that's probably why you're so interested.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: The second number is the one that tells you whether the drug is right for you, and it almost never makes it into these kind of posts.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: So let's start with what retatritide actually does.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: That's the whole difference.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Ozempic works on one hormone.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Zeppound works on two.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Retatritide works on three.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: So three instead of one or two sounds like a small step up, but it really isn't.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Here's the picture I like to give to patients.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Think of your appetite as a room with three switches on the wall.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: The first switch is the one that Ozempic flips.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: That switch is a gut hormone called GLP1.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: GLP1 tells your brain that you're full and that you've had enough to eat.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: GLP1 also slows down your stomach emptying so food sits longer and you stay full longer.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Now, ZeppBound flips that switch and a second one besides, GIP.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: GIP optimizes how the body breaks down and uses fats and sugars.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: So it works hand in hand with GLP1, improves your insulin sensitivity.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Now this second hormone helps your body handle food that you do eat so that less of it ends up being stored, stored as fat.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Now retatrotide flips both of those, GLP1, GIP, and a third one.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: The third switch is a hormone called glucagon, and glucagon does something the other two don't.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So instead of turning your appetite down, glucagon actually goes after fuel that you've already got stored and pushes your body to use more of it.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Glucagon helps with weight loss by increasing energy use, burning stored fat, and reducing appetite.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Sounds great.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Now here's what's interesting is that while your naturally occurring glucagon actually raises blood sugar, your naturally occurring glucagon actually raises blood sugar when it's artificially combined, engineered with GLP1 and GIP, it balances blood sugar, balances blood sugar while maximizing fat breakdown and calorie burning.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: It's kind of exciting.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: So this one drug, this triple Agnes drug, is working on your hunger, on how you handle the food, and on how much you burn all at once, which is why the numbers look the way they do.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: In the study so far, people have lost up to 28% of their body weight.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Let me put it in real terms.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: A woman who starts at 200 pounds and loses 28% has lost about 56 pounds.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: 28% is more than anything that we currently have approved.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: So I understand completely why people don't want to wait.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing about more.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Acting on more receptors doesn't automatically mean that it's better for you.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: More receptors means more of your bodies being acted on at once.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And that's showed up in the trials.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Up to 18% of people in those studies dropped out.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Almost one in five didn't finish.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: That's a lot of people.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Some of that's what you'd expect: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Same complaints we see across this whole family of drugs.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Just more of it.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: But one of the reasons people came off is one that most women never think about.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: They were losing too much weight too fast.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Let's sit on that for a second.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Because losing weight fast sounds like a good problem.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: It really isn't.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: When weight comes off that quickly, a big share of what's leaving is muscle.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And muscle is the engine that's running your metabolism.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: If you lose enough of it and you come off the drug, weaker, having less energy throughout your day, and burning less calories than you were before you started.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: The weight has an easier time coming back than it did the first time.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: If you want the honest version of these medications rather than the sales pitch, subscribe.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: I'm a doctor who actually prescribes them, and I'd like to keep telling you where they help and where they don't.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, back to it.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Now, here's the part that genuinely bothers me.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And my problem isn't the drug.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: My problem is where people are getting it.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Retatritide isn't approved yet, and Eli Lilly is still finishing the work.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: My expectation is that we'll probably see approval sometime in 2027.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So everything for sale online right now is coming from the gray market.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Small vials labeled for research purposes only.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: I've already made a whole video on what those four words actually mean.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: So I won't run through all of it again.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: But the short version is that that label is a legal shield for the seller.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Those four words don't tell you anything about what's in the bottle, whether it's pure what the concentration is.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Now, let me be fair here because I don't want to be misread.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: I'm not against these medications.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: I use them.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And retatritide is approved, I'll very likely prescribe it.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: What I'm against is a drug this powerful with a one in five dropout rate being injected with no blood work, no monitoring at all.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: So what should you actually do?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're looking at retatritide because what you're on has stopped working, we should take that seriously.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: A stall on a GLP1 usually means something specific and it's usually fixable.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Now the same goes if you're on one now and you feel terrible on it.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Either way, the move is a conversation with a doctor who prescribes these and monitors you on them, not a website with a checkout button.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: What that visit should actually involve blood work first, and I always want a fasting insulin level in there, a real accounting of what you've already tried and what's happened each time, something that measures your muscle and not just your weight, so that we can see what's really coming off, and a conversation about what your hunger is doing, because these drugs can quiet hunger down, but without ever touching what's driving it.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: If none of that's part of your plan right now, that's actually what's missing.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: And it's worth asking for.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: So back to that number, 28%.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: It's the one that gets posted.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: It's a great number, but 18% is the one that doesn't.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Both of these numbers came out of the same trial, and you need both of them to decide anything.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Now, this drug is coming and it looks very strong.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: When it gets here, I'd much rather that you take it with your labs done and somebody watching your health, your metabolism, and your muscle.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: So rather than take it now out of an unlabeled vial that you bought online.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe you were looking at all of this because you'd rather have something that you can just buy without a prescription.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: And I've made a whole video on the supplements sold as a natural version of these drugs and what's actually inside of them.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: This video showed you the drug that's coming.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: That video on supplements shows you what's already on the shelf.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Go watch that one next, and I'll see you there.
