- 1:49Speaker 2: let's go eat.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It's history.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You need here to believe, then grab your popcorn because well,
- 1:56Speaker 2: of course, of course.
- 1:59Speaker 1: There is there more. It was interesting.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Producer Carl had sent me something yesterday and I had already.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I was on with Sean Spicer yesterday. I was on
- 2:12Speaker 2: Shawn Spicer's show, and you can find that. You can
- 2:14Speaker 2: find the YouTube channel. You could see it, And there
- 2:18Speaker 2: was a conversation that we had about winners and losers.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Every time I'm on the show, they do this thing
- 2:24Speaker 2: about winters and losers of the week, and somebody brought
- 2:28Speaker 2: up that the winner of the week.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Was James Vanderbeek, the actor.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Dawson's Creek Varsity Blues, who died this week of colorectal
- 2:41Speaker 2: cancer at the age of forty eight, which is a
- 2:44Speaker 2: child and James Vanderbeek had seven children, wife and seven children,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and he had been discussing this since twenty twenty three
- 2:55Speaker 2: and talking about not being able to work, and there's
- 2:58Speaker 2: a GoFundMe that's now well over a million dollars in
- 3:01Speaker 2: his name.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Wasn't a rich man.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Did the TV stuff, did some movie stuff, definitely made
- 3:07Speaker 2: some money, but not a rich man.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And you learn later that he had a lot of friends,
- 3:20Speaker 1: a lot a lot, a lot of friends who thought
- 3:24Speaker 1: the world of him.
- 3:27Speaker 2: And one of the reasons they thought the world of
- 3:31Speaker 2: him is that he was a in a world of Hollywood,
- 3:37Speaker 2: he was a genuine and sincere cat. I didn't know
- 3:39Speaker 2: the man, but I did see this when he made
- 3:43Speaker 2: this a few years back, actually it was a year ago.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Not a few years, a year ago, and it was a.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Conversation about how one sees oneself when everything else that
- 3:55Speaker 2: you utilize to identify yourself has fallen away and conected
- 4:00Speaker 2: with a tremendous amount of people.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And maybe it's it's helpful for perspective, and.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Maybe you don't have to wait until you have some
- 4:10Speaker 2: threatening disease in order to ask yourself, how, what, how
- 4:15Speaker 2: do how does one view oneself? And what is it
- 4:17Speaker 2: that connects? What is it that matters? So I share
- 4:21Speaker 2: with you now this this video made by James Vanderbeek
- 4:28Speaker 2: about his situation.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And his and his outlook.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Today's my birth thing, and it has been the hardest
- 4:38Speaker 3: year of my life, and I wanted to share something
- 4:42Speaker 3: that I learned with y'all. When I was younger, I
- 4:45Speaker 3: used to define myself as an actor, right, which he
- 4:51Speaker 3: was never really all that fulfilling. And then it became
- 4:53Speaker 3: a husband and that was much better. And then they
- 4:55Speaker 3: became a father and that was the ultimate. I could
- 4:58Speaker 3: define myself then as a loving, capable, strong, supportive husband, father, provider,
- 5:08Speaker 3: steward of the land that were so lucky to live on.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And for a long time that felt like a really
- 5:12Speaker 3: good definition to the question who am I? What am I?
- 5:18Speaker 3: And then this year I had to look my own
- 5:22Speaker 3: mortality in the eye. I had to come nose to
- 5:26Speaker 3: nose with death in all of those definitions that I
- 5:30Speaker 3: cared so deeply about were stripped from me. I was
- 5:33Speaker 3: away for treatment, so I could no longer be a
- 5:37Speaker 3: husband that was helpful to my wife. I could no
- 5:39Speaker 3: longer be a father who could pick up his kids
- 5:41Speaker 3: and put them to bed and be there for them.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I could not be a provider because I wasn't working.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I couldn't even be a steward of the land because
- 5:50Speaker 3: at times I was too weak to proven all the
- 5:52Speaker 3: trees during the window that you're supposed to prove them.
- 5:57Speaker 3: And so I was faced for the question if I
- 5:58Speaker 3: am just a too skinny, weak guy alone in an
- 6:06Speaker 3: apartment with cancer, what am I? And I meditated and
- 6:14Speaker 3: the answer came through I am worthy of God's love
- 6:22Speaker 3: simply because I exist. And if I'm worthy of God's love,
- 6:27Speaker 3: shouldn't I also be worthy of my own? And the
- 6:32Speaker 3: same is true for you. And as I moved through
- 6:35Speaker 3: this healing portal toward recovery, I wanted to share that
- 6:39Speaker 3: with you because I think that revelation that came to
- 6:41Speaker 3: me was doing no small parts all the prayers and
- 6:44Speaker 3: the love that had been directed toward me. So I
- 6:47Speaker 3: offer that to you. However it sits in your consciousness,
- 6:50Speaker 3: however it resonates, run with it. And if the word
- 6:53Speaker 3: God trips you up, I certainly don't know, get claim
- 6:59Speaker 3: to know what God is.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Explain God.
- 7:01Speaker 3: My efforts to connect to God are an ongoing process
- 7:04Speaker 3: that is a constant, unfolding mystery to me. But if
- 7:08Speaker 3: it's a trigger it feels too religious. You can take
- 7:10Speaker 3: the word God out and your mantra can simply be
- 7:13Speaker 3: I am worthy of love because you are. Thank you
- 7:24Speaker 3: for the looking prayers. Everyone have a bless day.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't know if it helps.
- 7:34Speaker 2: We often talk about how the world is crazy and
- 7:36Speaker 2: we don't have to be.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We don't have to be.
- 7:42Speaker 2: There is a moment to take a look at yourself
- 7:45Speaker 2: and ask what matters, what is important? How does one
- 7:50Speaker 2: connect with oneself? How do you see yourself? Oh, outrageously
- 7:56Speaker 2: strong and worth listening to it? In James Vanderbeek dead
- 8:02Speaker 2: at forty eight, that's a damn shame.
