  Luke chapter 20. Let us pray, oh Heavenly Father,

  you're a good father. Thank you God for all of the
• 0:14
  many things that you do. Thank you God for life, life
• 0:18
  abundantly. Thank you God, that you've given
• 0:21
  us a reason to live. Thank you Father, that where you
• 0:25
  are, Lord, we will be. Thank you, Father, that you have
• 0:29
  sent the Holy Spirit to come and to help us.
• 0:33
  Thank you, Father, that you have set us in heavenly places.
• 0:37
  Let this ground be holy ground, God, because you are here moving
• 0:42
  mightily in our midst. God, I pray for healing from on
• 0:46
  high. Lord, I pray in the name of
• 0:48
  Jesus. Against all malice, God, I pray
• 0:51
  in the name of Jesus. Against all wickedness, God, I
• 0:55
  pray in the name of Jesus. Against discord and God against
• 0:59
  division, Lord, in the name of Jesus, I pray that you'll unite
• 1:03
  the brothers and sisters all around this globe, all around
• 1:06
  the world. Father, I pray for the
• 1:09
  persecuted church. God, I pray for the
• 1:11
  missionaries. God, I pray for the pastors.
• 1:15
  God, I pray in the name of Jesus for those that are taking the
• 1:19
  whole word to the whole world. Father, I pray that you will
• 1:23
  find us doing what it is that you want us to do, fulfilling
• 1:27
  the Great Commission. God the great Commandment.
• 1:30
  Father, I pray that you'll help us to go into the highways and
• 1:33
  the hedges and the byways, Father, and snatch those out of
• 1:38
  the the fire. God, those firebrands.
• 1:41
  God, I pray in the name of Jesus, you'll set us on fire,
• 1:44
  set us ablaze. God, fan the flame.
• 1:47
  Father, I pray that we'll be sold out to the King of kings
• 1:51
  and the Lord of Lords. Father, help us not to be
• 1:55
  cowards. Help us not to shrink back.
• 1:57
  Help us not to try to save our skin, God, but laying our lives
• 2:01
  down for our brothers because we know that there is no greater
• 2:04
  love and you modeled that for us.
• 2:06
  God, help us to charge the hill. So help us, Father, to know that
• 2:13
  you are near and you are working God mightily in our midst, and
• 2:17
  that we God, are yours and we're marked by your goodness and your
• 2:21
  grace and your mercy and your love.
• 2:24
  Father, I pray that you will be glorified in the highest because
• 2:30
  you are holy, holy, holy. Yes, Lord, the Spirit and the
• 2:36
  bride says come, Marinatha, come.
• 2:41
  Yes, Father, we love you. We love everything about you.
• 2:45
  I decrease as you increase. Holy Spirit, you teach what it
• 2:50
  is that you want to say to this wicked, perverse, dark
• 2:54
  generation. God, I pray that you will come
• 2:58
  and that You will say what it is that you want to say.

  Have the last word, God, and we hang on to every single one of
• 3:07
  your words. Lord.
• 3:09
  Take us to new heights, Father. Help us to feel the depths of
• 3:14
  your love. Father, I pray that you will
• 3:17
  make this place a holy ground, God, I pray that you will drive
• 3:23
  out all darkness, God, You will drive out all of the malice,
• 3:27
  Father, and that you will draw a circle around us, Father.
• 3:33
  Hedge us about, Father. Send the angelic host, God to
• 3:36
  protect, Father. I pray that you'll protect our
• 3:40
  children as they go. I pray that you'll protect our
• 3:43
  families as they are. God.
• 3:46
  I pray that you will protect the workplace.
• 3:49
  God, I pray that you will make us the high priests of our home
• 3:53
  and of our workplaces. God, I pray that you'll help us,
• 3:58
  Lord, to see you correctly and to know your thoughts and give
• 4:02
  us the mind of Christ. Lord, we love you, and it's in
• 4:05
  Jesus Christ, holy, perfect, precious, powerful name that I
• 4:16
  pray. Amen.

  Let's start in verse one. And it came to pass that on one
• 4:25
  of those days, as he taught the people in the temple and
• 4:29
  preached the Gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came
• 4:34
  upon him with the elders. What's he talking about here?
• 4:38
  Well, you're going to have to know that this is Jesus coming
• 4:41
  in to Jerusalem. He's already rode in on the
• 4:45
  donkey. He's already flipped over the
• 4:47
  tables and driven out the money changers.
• 4:50
  He's already had the praise showered upon him.
• 4:54
  Hosanna in the highest. This is the Passion Week, and
• 4:57
  you can see what Jesus was doing.
• 4:59
  He was about his Father's business.
• 5:02
  What's he doing? He's teaching the good news.
• 5:04
  What's he doing? He's preaching to them, what's
• 5:07
  he doing? He is in the temple and he's
• 5:10
  telling them how to be saved. He's telling them what the
• 5:14
  Kingdom of heaven is like. He's telling them that John the
• 5:18
  Baptist was authenticated. He's telling them that he is the
• 5:23
  Son of God. And here comes all of these
• 5:25
  hostile religious leaders and they're going to try to trap
• 5:29
  them. Verse 2 and spoke unto him,
• 5:32
  saying, tell us by what authority do you do these
• 5:35
  things? Or who is he that gives you this
• 5:38
  authority? So we can see here that these
• 5:41
  elders and all of these scribes and all of the religious people,
• 5:45
  they are hostile towards Jesus because what?
• 5:49
  What was he doing? Because he was in the temple, He
• 5:53
  was teaching the people. They were hanging on his every
• 5:56
  word. And they were covetousness and
• 5:59
  they were jealous of him and they were hostile because he was
• 6:06
  threatening their way of life. He was threatening the way that
• 6:10
  they understood God. And we would do well, friends,
• 6:13
  whenever we have our own presuppositions, whenever we
• 6:19
  have our own traditions and ideas of what God is like, we
• 6:23
  would do well to know that he is the great I am and he can do
• 6:28
  anything and that we do not need to try to put him in a box.
• 6:31
  And that is what they're guilty of.
• 6:33
  They've put God in a box. They're trying to propagate God.
• 6:37
  They're trying to tell people what God is like, and you
• 6:42
  cannot. God is in heaven and does
• 6:44
  whatever He pleases, and we need to know that He was gracious
• 6:48
  enough to give us the full counsel of His thoughts and His
• 6:53
  words and His deeds right here in the 66 Canon, friends, from
• 6:58
  Genesis to Revelation. He was so kind.
• 7:01
  But God goes way beyond all of these thoughts that are on this
• 7:05
  paper. Yes, this Bible is alive and
• 7:08
  active and we cannot put God in a box, friends.
• 7:12
  And that's what they're guilty of.
• 7:14
  They thought they had the whole thing cornered and figured out.
• 7:17
  And as long as you hang on the name Jesus Christ, you're going
• 7:21
  to be OK. That is the name above all
• 7:24
  names, the chief cornerstone that everything is built upon.
• 7:27
  It's Jesus, Jesus and Jesus, friends.
• 7:31
  Verse 3. And he answered and said unto
• 7:33
  them, I will also ask you one thing and answer me.
• 7:39
  So here Jesus answers their question with the question and
• 7:43
  you know he's not trying to get around their question, He is
• 7:49
  turning it around. And how they answer his question
• 7:52
  is going to mean everything. Verse 4, the baptism of John,
• 7:57
  was it from heaven or of men? So here Jesus and John, they
• 8:01
  were not rabbis in the sense that the Pharisees and Sadducees
• 8:06
  in the Sanhedrin, they did not give them the credentials,
• 8:11
  friends. These were just rogue St.
• 8:14
  preachers. These were just men who did not
• 8:19
  have any kind of degree, and here you can see that they did
• 8:25
  not like this kind of action. They did not like this manner of
• 8:30
  man. And here Jesus is going to ask
• 8:33
  them a paramount question. He's going to ask them, and how
• 8:38
  they answer it means everything. Verse 5, They reason with
• 8:42
  themselves, saying, if we shall say from heaven, he will say,
• 8:45
  Why then did you not believe him?
• 8:48
  6 But if we say of men, all the people will stone us, For they
• 8:54
  be persuaded that John was a prophet.
• 8:56
  Of course they were persuaded. John had a miraculous birth,
• 9:00
  friends, his parents were elderly.
• 9:03
  Zechariah could not speak because of the vision that was
• 9:07
  given to him, because of the Angel coming and speaking with
• 9:11
  him. And you can see here that in the
• 9:15
  land there was such a tradition of John being a prophet and
• 9:20
  Jesus the four. He was the forerunner for Jesus.
• 9:24
  And you can see that Jesus is the Messiah.
• 9:27
  But they did not want to know the truth.
• 9:29
  They just wanted to hang on all of their religious, dogmatic
• 9:33
  approach to the word, to the letter.
• 9:37
  And they were hanging on to traditions and they were hanging
• 9:40
  on to their way of life. And they were greedy and they
• 9:44
  were covetousness. And you can see it here,
• 9:47
  friends. They cared nothing that John was
• 9:52
  actually the forerunner. They cared nothing that Jesus
• 9:55
  was actually the Son of God. And they damned themselves
• 10:01
  friends here, they refused to love the truth, and they
• 10:06
  delighted in evil. And it's no different in our
• 10:09
  day, it's no different in our our friends.
• 10:13
  There are so many people who love money, they love position,
• 10:17
  they love to Lord it over people, and they care nothing
• 10:22
  for the truth. 7 And they answered that they could not
• 10:31
  tell where it was. 8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I
• 10:41
  you by what authority I do these things.
• 10:45
  So you can see here that Jesus flips the script.
• 10:48
  You can see here that Jesus does not give them the answer that
• 10:54
  they wanted. They were trying to trap him.
• 10:57
  They were trying to get Jesus to blasphemy, and Jesus here is so
• 11:05
  good at what He does. He flips the script on him.
• 11:09
  And you can see here that Jesus is Lord and they were afraid and
• 11:16
  they wanted to put him to death. And here Jesus is going to drive
• 11:22
  the state down, friends. He's going to put the line in
• 11:25
  the sand. Verse 9.
• 11:27
  Then he began to speak to the people, this parable.
• 11:32
  A certain man planted a vineyard and LED it forth to husbandmen,
• 11:35
  and went into a far country for a long time.
• 11:38
  So here God established the world, and God put Adam here to
• 11:45
  have dominion over it, and he told him to be fruitful and
• 11:49
  multiply. Here we can see Noah and his
• 11:53
  three sons and their wives, and they are populating the earth
• 11:59
  again. And God has gone into heaven and
• 12:03
  God is sitting on his throne. And God is letting out the whole
• 12:08
  world to us, and he desires for us to give him the fruit.
• 12:16
  And He's given us every ability and he's giving us every
• 12:21
  opportunity to do so. And what do we do?
• 12:24
  Let's see. 10 And at the season he sent a servant to the
• 12:29
  husbandmen that they should give him of the fruit of the
• 12:32
  vineyard, but the husbandmen beat him and sent him away
• 12:36
  empty. So we know that all the prophets
• 12:40
  that God sent to get the people back on track, what did they do?
• 12:44
  They stoned the prophets. And Jesus wept about that when
• 12:48
  he was going into Jerusalem. He said You who stoned the
• 12:52
  prophets and you kill them. And you can see here how God
• 12:57
  really feels about it all when he sends the true messengers.
• 13:01
  And we only latch on to all the false prophets who tell us all
• 13:05
  about the prosperity that we're going to have and that God is
• 13:09
  going to get rid of our enemies. And whenever God sends the true
• 13:13
  prophets who tells, he tells us to repent, He tells us to turn
• 13:19
  from our wicked ways. He tells us the judgment is
• 13:22
  coming if we do not repent. And what do we do?
• 13:26
  We do not want to listen to that sound doctrine.
• 13:29
  We only want to listen to those that say everything's OK and
• 13:33
  everything's fine and dandy, and it's all going to go on and on
• 13:36
  and on. And it's all about money, and
• 13:38
  it's all about position, and it's all about power, and it's
• 13:42
  all about the kind of land and houses and cars that you drive.
• 13:46
  And it just shows and it reveals the true motives of our heart.
• 13:52
  And a lot of people use religion to usurp their authority over
• 13:59
  the masses. And it is despicable and
• 14:01
  disgusting, friends. And it is why we need to get
• 14:05
  into this holy word for ourselves.
• 14:09
  We need to pick it apart for ourselves.
• 14:11
  We need to be students of the Bible.
• 14:13
  We need to be like the Berean searching the scriptures,
• 14:16
  friends, to know that whenever the false doctrine and the false
• 14:20
  teaching is coming about, we can stiff arm it.
• 14:23
  There's a lot of garbage out there right now, friends.
• 14:27
  The things that are being taught, friends, is not sound
• 14:31
  doctrine. Get into the word of God for
• 14:33
  yourself, learn the word of God for yourself.
• 14:38
  Paul said I didn't even go and seek out someone to teach me,
• 14:43
  but he sat in the Word, he sat in the scriptures and he learned
• 14:49
  from God. And I that is what I would say
• 14:51
  to every single person, is learn the Scriptures from the Lord God
• 14:55
  Almighty and then as you go through life, people will
• 14:59
  confirm things in your life and they will help you along the
• 15:03
  way. But that's all it is.
• 15:05
  It is not supreme authority. Man does not have supreme
• 15:09
  authority. It is only the 66 books is the
• 15:13
  only authority over our lives. It is not the teachings of man.
• 15:20
  11 And again he sent another servant, and they beat him, and
• 15:23
  then treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
• 15:27
  These are all the prophets that are coming to reveal to them
• 15:30
  their wicked ways. 12 And again he sent a third.
• 15:34
  They wounded him also, and cast him out. 13 Then said the Lord
• 15:39
  of the vineyard, What shall I do?
• 15:41
  I will send my beloved son. It may be they will reverence
• 15:46
  him when they see him. God already knew.
• 15:49
  God already knew. But here Jesus is talking about
• 15:53
  himself. Jesus is saying that he is the
• 15:56
  beloved Son of the Lord of the Vineyard, and the Lord of the
• 16:02
  Vineyard has supreme rights over this land.
• 16:07
  Friends, all the earth belongs to him, and he's sending Jesus.
• 16:11
  What are they going to do with Jesus?
• 16:13
  14 But when the husband men saw him, they reason among
• 16:17
  themselves, saying, this is the air, Come, let us kill him, that
• 16:22
  the inheritance may be ours. So these wicked, perverse people
• 16:26
  just wanted to take over the world.
• 16:29
  They wanted to take over the land.
• 16:31
  They wanted to have their cake and eat it too.
• 16:34
  And what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but to
• 16:38
  lose their soul, to be cast into damnation and hell?
• 16:42
  Friends, what does it profit a man that profits him?
• 16:46
  Nothing? We must be connected to the
• 16:48
  vine. We must do the work of our
• 16:50
  Father. 15 So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.
• 16:59
  What therefore shall the Lord of the vineyard do unto them?
• 17:03
  So here Jesus is predicting his death. 16 He tells them what
• 17:09
  God's going to do. He shall.
• 17:11
  He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the
• 17:15
  vineyard to others. We are the others.
• 17:19
  So the Jews persecuted all the prophets along the way.
• 17:24
  And here God is giving the vineyard.
• 17:28
  He's giving the counsel. He's giving his Holy Scriptures
• 17:31
  to us, the Gentiles, and that is how we came in.
• 17:36
  And it is going to be the jealousy of the Jews seeing the
• 17:40
  Gentiles coming into the Kingdom that provokes them into a
• 17:44
  relationship with Jesus Christ, friends.
• 17:49
  So they'll finally see Jesus as their long-awaited Messiah, and
• 17:54
  they'll quit waiting on another. And when they heard it, they
• 18:03
  said, God forbid. Can you imagine all of these
• 18:08
  religious folk and they're sitting there listening to Jesus
• 18:13
  give them this parable that they knew was about them, and what do
• 18:19
  they say? God forbid?
• 18:21
  Yes, that is correct. God forbid that we should ever
• 18:25
  turn our backs on Almighty God. God forbid that we should ever
• 18:32
  choose another lover than the Lord Jesus Christ, our
• 18:36
  bridegroom. God forbid we should taste in
• 18:41
  the heavenly gifts and then turn our backs and blasphemy the Holy
• 18:45
  Spirit. God forbid. 17 And he beheld
• 18:51
  them and said, What is this then that is written, the stone which
• 18:56
  the builders rejected, The same has become the head of the
• 19:00
  corner. 18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken,
• 19:06
  but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
• 19:10
  So here we can see that when we fall on the rock, we are broken
• 19:15
  to pieces because of our sin, and he restores us and makes us
• 19:20
  whole. But when we are stiff necked and
• 19:22
  blasphemy God, whenever we cared nothing for the Holy Scriptures,
• 19:27
  whenever we are offering strange fire to the Lord, this rock
• 19:33
  falls upon us and grinds us to powder.
• 19:37
  Friends, there is no more salvation apart from Jesus
• 19:42
  Christ. He is the only one who can save
• 19:45
  us from eternal damnation. Friends, it is the name of
• 19:50
  Jesus. It is only Jesus, the name that
• 19:53
  is above all names, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. 19 And the chief
• 19:58
  priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him,
• 20:03
  and they feared the people, for they perceived that he had
• 20:08
  spoken this parable against them.
• 20:11
  So here they're afraid of the people, they're afraid of being
• 20:15
  stoned, but they want desperately to lay hands on this
• 20:18
  man and to take him away, because what is he doing?
• 20:23
  He's ridiculing them. And all of their childish
• 20:27
  reasonings. And it's no different in our day
• 20:29
  and our our friends. There are so many people that
• 20:32
  are ignorant of the word of God and they make up all of their
• 20:35
  own little fables. And they think of God as one
• 20:39
  little facet. And God is the great I am.
• 20:42
  And you cannot box him in. And we would do well to get
• 20:45
  connected to the power source. Quit relying on our own self.
• 20:50
  Quit relying on all the traditions of man.
• 20:53
  Quit relying on the faith of others and get connected to the
• 20:57
  power source and live sold out completely sold out lives to the
• 21:02
  King of kings and the Lord of Lords. 20 And they watched him,
• 21:07
  and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just
• 21:13
  men, that they might take hold of his words, so they might
• 21:18
  deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
• 21:21
  So here you can see that they are plotting and scheming.
• 21:26
  This is premeditated. And you can see that they have
• 21:30
  sent these men to try to hold on to any of the words that they
• 21:34
  can use against him in the Sanhedrin.
• 21:38
  You can see here that on the night of Jesus arrest, whenever
• 21:42
  he was betrayed by Judas, these men came about and none of their
• 21:46
  stories corroborated. It was a bunch of hoopla, was a
• 21:50
  bunch of garbage friends. 21 And they asked him, saying, Master,
• 21:56
  we know that you say and teach rightly neither except you, the
• 22:01
  person of any, but teach the way of God truly here they're
• 22:06
  sycophants. Here they're trying to boost
• 22:09
  him. Here they're trying to come in
• 22:13
  and go to his sensible side. They're trying to win him over
• 22:21
  by flattery, friends and Jesus's.
• 22:25
  He's not swooned so easily. Let's see what he has to say. 22
• 22:30
  Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar or not?
• 22:34
  So here, this is one of the things that they used against
• 22:37
  him whenever they took him to Pilate.
• 22:41
  And they were saying, He is no friend of Caesar's, but let's
• 22:45
  see what he has to say to them. But he perceived their
• 22:49
  craftiness and said unto them, Why do you tempt me?
• 22:54
  He's saying, you have not been able to beat me with your own
• 22:59
  little games yet. Why do you keep coming?
• 23:03
  And Jesus has all authority, and Jesus has all wisdom.
• 23:07
  And Jesus is the embodiment of wisdom.
• 23:12
  And here he shows them that he is not to be messed with.
• 23:18
  Let's see what he has to say. 24 Show me a penny whose image and
• 23:24
  superscription has it? They answered and said,
• 23:28
  Caesar's. 25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto
• 23:33
  Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the
• 23:36
  things which be gods. So here he shows us that we are
• 23:41
  citizens of heaven when you come into a rightful relationship
• 23:46
  with God Almighty through his Son Jesus Christ, and is the
• 23:50
  blood of Jesus Christ that makes us whole.
• 23:53
  It's the blood of Jesus Christ that makes us righteous.
• 23:56
  It's the blood of Jesus Christ, friends, that gets us in.
• 24:00
  It's not by our works. But when you come in and when
• 24:04
  you are indwelled with the Holy Spirit, then you become a
• 24:09
  citizen of heaven. And he's saying we must pay our
• 24:14
  taxes and we must operate in the world and we need to give back
• 24:21
  whatever we owe and owe. Man owe no man nothing, is what
• 24:26
  he says. However, he knows that we have
• 24:29
  to live in this world. He knows that we have to use all
• 24:33
  the resources that this world offers to us.
• 24:36
  Friends, But do not take the mark of the beast.
• 24:38
  There's going to come a time where you cannot buy or sell
• 24:42
  anything without taking the mark of the beast.
• 24:45
  And you can see it all coming down the pipeline, can't you,
• 24:48
  friends? There was a time where it would
• 24:51
  never ever have happened that we could go cashless.
• 24:55
  But you can see it all shaped, shaping up right here and right
• 24:59
  now. But what Jesus is saying here is
• 25:02
  that we always obey the law until the law goes against the
• 25:07
  Word of God, and then we become rebels, friends.
• 25:12
  And it is this craftiness, and you can see it all shaping up.
• 25:18
  26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people,
• 25:23
  and they marveled at his answer and held their peace.
• 25:26
  Jesus was good at beating them at their own game.
• 25:29
  Jesus knows just what to do. And we should take heart,
• 25:33
  friends, we should take heart that we serve a master that
• 25:39
  cannot be backed up into a corner.
• 25:42
  We serve a Master that has all authority and all power and all
• 25:46
  wisdom, and if we'll get connected to Him, He's going to
• 25:49
  lead us home, friends. And we don't have to be cowards
• 25:53
  and try to save our skin. E We can lay down our lives for
• 25:57
  Him, because He is just that good. 27 Then came to him
• 26:02
  certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any
• 26:06
  resurrection, and they asked him, 28 Saying, Master Moses
• 26:10
  wrote unto us, If any man brother die having a wife, and
• 26:15
  he'd die without children, that his brother should take his wife
• 26:19
  and raise up seed unto his brother. 29 There were therefore
• 26:24
  seven brothers, and the first took a wife and died without
• 26:28
  children. 30 and the second took her to wife, and he died
• 26:32
  childless. 31 And the third took her, and in like manner the
• 26:36
  seven also, and they left no children and died. 32 Last of
• 26:41
  all, the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the resurrection,
• 26:47
  whose wife of them is she for seven, had her two wife, this
• 26:58
  would have been one of their coined phrases, their coined
• 27:01
  little stories that proved in the hypocrisy of any of the
• 27:07
  spiritual, the angelic of the resurrection.
• 27:11
  They did not believe in any of it.
• 27:13
  These Sadducees were very soft on the Roman government, and
• 27:20
  they enjoyed all kinds of political privileges because of
• 27:25
  their position with Rome. And they denied any kind of
• 27:32
  supernatural in Jesus, the embodiment of all wisdom and
• 27:37
  grace and love and mercy. What's he going to do here?
• 27:41
  He's going to show them. He's going to give us a snapshot
• 27:45
  very similar whenever we were back there learning about
• 27:48
  Lazarus and the rich man. He's going to give us another
• 27:51
  little snapshot into eternity. And God is vague on purpose.
• 27:56
  Just like in Genesis, whenever He's giving us the creation
• 28:00
  story, He left out the things that He left out on purpose.
• 28:05
  And here Jesus only gives us enough of the good news of what
• 28:11
  is to come to keep us on the edge of our seats.
• 28:15
  Friends, if He was to reveal all of the details of eternity, not
• 28:23
  one single man, woman, or child would ever deny Him.
• 28:30
  And He leaves it vague on purpose, because we have to
• 28:33
  count the cost before we come to Him.
• 28:36
  And we're going to listen to all these people along the way who
• 28:39
  try to talk us out of heaven. They try to talk us out of
• 28:42
