Major road closure in Garner set for over a month as part of the “Complete 540” project — the final phase to finish the outer loop around Raleigh. East Garner Road is being reconfigured to connect with I-540, extending the Triangle Expressway from Garner to Knightdale. This $2.5 billion, decade-long effort aims to slash congestion by closing the traffic loop — with detours via Auburn Knightdale and Rock Quarry Roads — and is expected to wrap up by late 2028.
