Jurors who heard Patrick Clancy’s 911 call have described his reaction after discovering his children as horrifying, visceral and unforgettable.

But an emotional reaction—even an extraordinarily powerful one—is not the same thing as forensic evidence.

So I went back to the testimony with a very specific question:

What does the 911 recording actually corroborate?

Patrick testified that after finding Lindsay outside their home, she told him, “I tried to kill myself.” He also testified that when he asked where their children were, Lindsay told him, “They’re in the basement.”
