- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Well,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Ann Coulter, the best-selling author, the great columnist, and now
- 0:11Speaker 1: Rumble star. Make sure you watch her Rumble channel and
- 0:14Speaker 1: follow her on Twitter. And, of course, Substack. She's got
- 0:17Speaker 1: videos and podcasts and all sorts of stuff. AnnCoulter.substack.com. Ann Coulter,
- 0:25Speaker 1: how are you doing? Fantastic.
- 0:27Speaker 2: How are you, Mark Simone?
- 0:28Speaker 1: I'm good. Summer's almost over. Aren't you sad about that?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yes, of course I am. I have to get back
- 0:34Speaker 2: to work.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Now, midterms, what do you think? How does it look?
- 0:41Speaker 2: You probably don't want to ask me that. I think
- 0:44Speaker 2: it looks like a complete wipeout for Republicans. This Iran
- 0:48Speaker 2: war has long, long tentacles. and the gas price has
- 0:55Speaker 2: gone up. I mean, it's great that we're trying to
- 0:57Speaker 2: get Venezuela's gas now, but at the moment, if you
- 1:00Speaker 2: had to bet, it's just going to be a bloodbath
- 1:05Speaker 2: for Republicans. I just don't understand why Trump does not
- 1:10Speaker 2: run or do the things he ran on. His main
- 1:13Speaker 2: issue was immigration. To this day, his most popular issue
- 1:17Speaker 2: is immigration. and he is underwater on every single issue,
- 1:21Speaker 2: including the issues Republicans usually crush on, like the economy. And,
- 1:25Speaker 2: of course, least of all popular is the Iran war.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Well, the economy's in pretty good shape by every metric. Immigration,
- 1:32Speaker 1: he's been arresting people like ICE. He's been doing a
- 1:35Speaker 1: great job. Wouldn't you agree on that?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Well, I do, but I think what happens is, as
- 1:42Speaker 2: long as, I mean, anything he does on immigration, and
- 1:44Speaker 2: it does seem that... Stephen Miller has been a careful
- 1:49Speaker 2: steward of what is going on. The more they can do,
- 1:53Speaker 2: the better. But what happens in these polls is if
- 1:56Speaker 2: you're mad about one thing, if you're mad about the president,
- 2:00Speaker 2: it just colors your opinion of everything else, so it
- 2:03Speaker 2: drags all the categories down. That's why it's striking that
- 2:07Speaker 2: the single most unpopular issue is, of course, the Iran war.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And Americans overwhelmingly want to just wrap it up quickly.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Clear victory and move out.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That's if you look at the media polls and those
- 2:22Speaker 1: college polls. But if you look at the real internals,
- 2:26Speaker 1: Iran comes up like number 15 on issues for most Americans.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Internal polls are famously nonsense.
- 2:34Speaker 1: No, they're pretty good.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Daniel Shore and I believe Nate Silver. i'm definitely make
- 2:40Speaker 2: silver point out that the quote internal polls uh... are
- 2:45Speaker 2: often done to please the boss and if there's any
- 2:47Speaker 2: boss who needs to be pleased uh... you can twist
- 2:50Speaker 2: them you can manipulate and there are a million different
- 2:53Speaker 2: polls and iran has just i mean especially the democrats
- 2:57Speaker 2: and independents you're right about that uh... but even among
- 3:00Speaker 2: republicans forty percent yes just just republicans are not people
- 3:05Speaker 2: are still calling themselves republicans uh... Slight majority say, yes,
- 3:10Speaker 2: Iran's going great. Forty percent say, no, please wrap it up,
- 3:15Speaker 2: please wrap it up. And like I say, that pulls
- 3:17Speaker 2: down everything else. The gas prices, that is, oh, my gosh,
- 3:20Speaker 2: that's going to kill Republicans. It's going to kill them.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Let's hope the Venezuelan oil does something.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Well, I think you might be a little too worried about,
- 3:30Speaker 1: first of all, gas prices aren't that high. They're high
- 3:34Speaker 1: in New York, but it has nothing to do with Iran.
- 3:36Speaker 1: They're high in California. It has nothing to do with Iran.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But they're pretty low around the country. They're averaging around
- 3:41Speaker 1: 350 now. That's not that bad.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Mark Simone, you know I love you, but this is
- 3:47Speaker 2: like the Biden administration and MSNBC trying to convince people, no,
- 3:53Speaker 2: the economy is great. No, I mean, you can look
- 3:56Speaker 2: at a chart. Since the Iran war, gas prices have
- 4:00Speaker 2: been substantially higher, and they haven't come back down. And yes, okay,
- 4:05Speaker 2: you can compare it. Oh, did you complain under Biden? Yes,
- 4:08Speaker 2: we did complain under Biden.
- 4:09Speaker 1: That has nothing to do with Biden.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Starting a war. It was when Russia invaded Ukraine. There
- 4:14Speaker 2: was a spike in gas prices here.
- 4:16Speaker 1: We've had a rise.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Not that Biden did, and we still blame him.
- 4:19Speaker 1: We've had a rise, but not a spike, and the
- 4:21Speaker 1: numbers are nowhere near Biden's gas prices. Not even close.
- 4:25Speaker 2: That was very brief.
- 4:27Speaker 1: All right.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Look, I don't want this to be the case, because...
- 4:32Speaker 2: I mean, the problem is, you know, Democrats will get in,
- 4:35Speaker 2: they'll run on stuff that they know is more popular
- 4:39Speaker 2: and the issues that are less popular with concerning Trump,
- 4:46Speaker 2: but then they're going to get in and it's not
- 4:48Speaker 2: going to be anything they ran on. It's going to be,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you know, like wrapping up the Iran war. It's going
- 4:54Speaker 2: to be pedal to the metal for DEI stuff. Oh
- 4:57Speaker 2: my gosh, it'll be a disaster. But nothing they actually
- 5:01Speaker 2: ran on will come true. It'll be all the things
- 5:04Speaker 2: that they're afraid to run on because they are so
- 5:07Speaker 2: unpopular on. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Well, we'll see. I think you'll be quite surprised in November.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Even here in New York.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Where I think Bruce Blakeman will win. You'll be quite surprised.
- 5:18Speaker 1: And the good news with that Mamdani, like a lot
- 5:21Speaker 1: of these socialists, everything he proposes... He never does anything.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Nothing ever actually happens. He gets nothing done.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Oh, I wish.
- 5:30Speaker 1: He gets nothing done.
- 5:31Speaker 2: That's what I loved about Black Lives Matter. Go ahead,
- 5:34Speaker 2: spend it on mansions. It's fantastic. Please don't do anything.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Well, Mom Donnie, his daycare centers aren't funded. There's no
- 5:43Speaker 1: grocery stores that are ever going to be built. The
- 5:45Speaker 1: pied-à-terre tax will never happen.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I hope you're right about that. I don't know why
- 5:50Speaker 2: you think that now. I certainly hope you're right about
- 5:54Speaker 2: that because it's real. That will be such a disaster
- 5:58Speaker 2: for New York. I'm sure you've talked about this and
- 6:01Speaker 2: your listeners have thought about it until they're blue in
- 6:04Speaker 2: the face. But all of this pointless rearranging where massively
- 6:09Speaker 2: wealthy people... There was just an article, I think, in
- 6:11Speaker 2: the New York Times about this yesterday. Massively wealthy people
- 6:15Speaker 2: are just going to rent now. Because if you don't
- 6:17Speaker 2: own it, you're not a peer to tear. They'll rent,
- 6:23Speaker 2: and they'll rent out their gigantic apartments. Rental prices are
- 6:29Speaker 2: about to go through the roof. Sale prices are collapsing.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And for no reason.
- 6:34Speaker 2: It's utterly artificial.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Not in New York. Sale prices were actually up over
- 6:37Speaker 1: last year. High-end sales are up over last year. Numbers
- 6:41Speaker 1: are pretty interesting. Everything is up over last year. Even
- 6:44Speaker 1: commercial leasing is through the roof right now.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Well, it's not commercial leasing I'm worried about. And I
- 6:50Speaker 2: know real estate brokers always tell me that no sales
- 6:53Speaker 2: are going through the roof. But not when this Pieta
- 6:56Speaker 2: tear tax starts being enforced. I mean, maybe it's only
- 7:00Speaker 2: a few people at the very high end who are
- 7:02Speaker 2: worried about it. But talk to accountants. Talk to the
- 7:07Speaker 2: accountants of really rich people. They're all scrambling now to
- 7:11Speaker 2: figure out what they can do.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You'll never see the Piedra Terra tax, even the rollout,
- 7:16Speaker 1: completely bungled and bogged.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Oh, I hope you're right. It's so stupid. It's going
- 7:20Speaker 2: to be so bad for housing in New York and
- 7:22Speaker 2: for New York City. I mean, even if all you
- 7:24Speaker 2: care about is all the stupid social programs that I'd
- 7:27Speaker 2: eliminate across the board. New York Times did have an
- 7:31Speaker 2: article about this in the past week. New York needs
- 7:34Speaker 2: more millionaires. They need more multi-millionaires. And they have been fleeing, fleeing, fleeing.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Where does Albany and Mondami, where do they think the
- 7:46Speaker 2: money comes from? But they keep driving out the golden goose.
- 7:51Speaker 2: And boy, is the Pieta terror tax a good way
- 7:53Speaker 2: to do it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Now, why do you keep reading the New York Times?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Because it's the most articulate... expression of liberal opinion, whereas
- 8:04Speaker 2: I watch MSNBC now. I can't get out of calling
- 8:07Speaker 2: it MSNBC MS now. That is the most comedic version
- 8:11Speaker 2: of liberal opinion.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I like calling it MSNBC. It's still the
- 8:16Speaker 1: 59th Street Bridge. Nobody calls it the Ed Koch Bridge,
- 8:19Speaker 1: although we love it.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Oh, that's hilarious. I didn't even know it was supposed
- 8:22Speaker 2: to be the Ed Koch Bridge. I really hate that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Any of your listeners outside of New York probably do
- 8:27Speaker 2: not care about this. But all of these street names,
- 8:30Speaker 2: you know, one of the beauties of New York City,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I was in Amsterdam and London this summer. I could
- 8:35Speaker 2: never find my way back to my hotel because the
- 8:39Speaker 2: streets are so, you know, sort of confusing. And you
- 8:43Speaker 2: don't even know what the words are, what the names
- 8:46Speaker 2: are in Amsterdam. So how can you remember a name
- 8:48Speaker 2: that's all continents? That's what I love about New York.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I know where 59th Street is because it's above 57th
- 8:58Speaker 2: and below 60th. And so when you get out of
- 9:01Speaker 2: a subway or you're wandering around trying to find something
- 9:04Speaker 2: and what you have is, you know, the Louisa Ortiz Street, man,
- 9:11Speaker 2: that drives me crazy.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Well, it's still the Triborough Bridge. It's not the Robert F.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Kennedy Bridge. And if you say the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge,
- 9:18Speaker 1: nobody knows where that is.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I actually discovered that to my detriment when I was
- 9:23Speaker 2: driving in and out. I think it had just been
- 9:25Speaker 2: changed to visit my mother in Connecticut. And I'm afraid
- 9:31Speaker 2: of driving in New York. It's crazy. Why would you drive?
- 9:33Speaker 2: We used to have a subway system I could use
- 9:35Speaker 2: every day. So anyway, I'm driving in and out every day.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And I'm at the top of Manhattan looking desperately for
- 9:42Speaker 2: the Triborough Bridge. I can't find it. And then finally
- 9:47Speaker 2: it dawns on me, wait, I've never heard of the
- 9:50Speaker 2: RFK Bridge before. I wonder if that's it. I actually
- 9:54Speaker 2: had no idea.
- 9:56Speaker 1: They hate Kennedy Jr., so they'll probably take the name
- 9:58Speaker 1: off now. They'll probably go back to the... tribe borough
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know uh they want trump's name off the kennedy
- 10:03Speaker 1: center if democrats knew what john f kennedy stood for
- 10:07Speaker 1: uh he was anti-abortion he was pro-war he was a
- 10:10Speaker 1: tax cutter don't you think they'd want his name off
- 10:13Speaker 1: the building.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Too That's a good point. Well, they don't want Trump's
- 10:17Speaker 2: name on any buildings, and I can't say I disagree
- 10:21Speaker 2: with them. As I've just, not any insult to Trump,
- 10:25Speaker 2: but as I've just indicated, you just stop naming stuff
- 10:28Speaker 2: after politicians. In fact, I'd strip a lot of them away.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Republicans still refer to it as the East River Drive.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Really hate that one. And okay, except for the A president,
- 10:43Speaker 2: the two Kennedys who were assassinated, okay, enough has been
- 10:46Speaker 2: named after them, but could we please stop now? And, okay,
- 10:50Speaker 2: I'll give you Reagan National, though I wasn't working in
- 10:53Speaker 2: the Senate then, and I wasn't wildly enthusiastic about that,
- 10:55Speaker 2: but they told me it was just retaliation for everything
- 10:58Speaker 2: being named after FDR and Kennedy.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Oh, I like that. That's good. Well, Ann Coulter, we're
- 11:03Speaker 1: out of time, but she's got a great Rumble channel,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and you've got new stuff coming tomorrow? On the Rumble channel?
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yes. Yes, I will. I've been doing Mondays, but I
- 11:12Speaker 2: just flew back from across the pond, so I didn't
- 11:15Speaker 2: do a Monday one. So tomorrow at 5 p.m., we're
- 11:17Speaker 2: going to have a live Rumble.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Live Rumble. Rumble's like the conservative YouTube, so take a
- 11:22Speaker 1: look at that. Follow Ann Coulter on Twitter. And her
- 11:25Speaker 1: Substack is great. It's got interviews and videos and podcasts. AnnCoulter.substack.com.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Ann Coulter, thanks for being with us.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Good to talk to you, Mark Simone. Bye-bye. All right.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, coming up, by the way, I'll be
- 11:40Speaker 1: off tomorrow and Friday. I'll be back on Tuesday. Remember,
- 11:43Speaker 1: it's Labor Day weekend. Coming up at noon, you got
- 11:45Speaker 1: Buck and Clay. And don't forget, this show now starts
- 11:49Speaker 1: at nine. It's three hours, nine to noon every day.
- 11:53Speaker 1: And then, of course, six to nine, Curtis Lewa and
- 11:56Speaker 1: Larry Menti here on 710WOR.
