- 0:00So in a year that was, you know, dedicated to
- 0:02community, one Dubai entity really showed what
- 0:06it means to invest in people. This was back in
- 0:092025, the UAE's year of community, and the Dubai
- 0:14Electricity and Water Authority, or DIWA, they
- 0:18spearheaded this just remarkable social responsibility
- 0:22agenda. And get this, they achieved an outstanding
- 0:2595 % community approval score. 95%. The scale
- 0:33of this commitment is, it's just so clear when
- 0:35you look at the numbers. Between 2013 and 2025,
- 0:39Diwa launched nearly 500 social initiatives.
- 0:43And their employees? They contributed an incredible
- 0:47470 ,270 volunteer hours to humanitarian causes.
- 0:54Just wow. And this work, it's all guided by a
- 0:59really clear vision. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed
- 1:02Altair, who's the MD and CEO of Diwa, he stated
- 1:07that under the wise leadership of His Highness
- 1:09Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al -Maktoum, you know,
- 1:13the vice president and prime minister of the
- 1:15UAE and ruler of Dubai, Dubai has turned into
- 1:19this global city that brings people together
- 1:21and it empowers them and it enhances their quality
- 1:25of life. So at Diwa, they're committed to strengthening
- 1:29those community ties, fostering that shared responsibility,
- 1:34and really creating an environment that encourages
- 1:36everyone to collaborate for the benefit of the
- 1:39whole community. It's an approach that it just
- 1:42drives collective progress and ensures a brighter
- 1:46future for all. He also said they're keen to
- 1:49maintain a balance, you know, across economic,
- 1:52social and environmental priorities, all through
- 1:56a clear framework that enhances community happiness.
- 2:00And during Ramadan 2025, Diwa's actions just
- 2:04spoke volumes. They made a headline contribution
- 2:08of 20 million dirhams to the Father's Endowment
- 2:11campaign for health care. And at the same time,
- 2:14the employees themselves collected over 400 food
- 2:17boxes for families in need. Inclusion was another
- 2:21key pillar. Diwa sponsored these advanced eye
- 2:25gaze devices to help people of determination
- 2:27communicate, and they also supported initiatives
- 2:30to build their digital skills. The environment
- 2:33saw a lot of action too. In partnership with
- 2:36environmental groups, their efforts led to planting
- 2:38nearly 14 ,000 mangrove trees and a major beach
- 2:43cleanup campaign. And for the leaders of tomorrow,
- 2:46Diwa hosted summer training, including the 16th
- 2:50Future Engineer Camp, a direct investment in
- 2:53the nation's youth. So you see everything from
- 2:56these large scale endowments to, you know, grassroots
- 3:00volunteering. Diwa's work in 2025 really set
- 3:04a powerful example of how corporate responsibility
- 3:07can strengthen the very fabric of a community.
- 3:11And, you know. That leaves me with a question
- 3:14I'd like you to think about. When a major organization
- 3:17integrates community support so deeply into its
- 3:20identity, how does that change our own perception
- 3:24of the role corporations should play in society?
