Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville jackwars fans welcome in to do wall daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now we are reacting to jackwars and saints joint practice thought I was going to need to get some insight and stuff on this practice from Liam Cohen after the practice in his press conference and I obviously will always listen to Liam Cohen when he's on the mic because he does provide great updates insights into the team and kind of where he sees things
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to offer where I saw things today before we got into what Liam Cohen had to say just to give like an unfiltered and really unimpacted by what the coach says type of take on practice today and I was able to see with my own eyes most of practice thanks to a stream.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then also had a ton of great updates from on the Jaguar side, Brent Martno, Olivia Tassley, Nick Underhill, Hill on the St. Side and a couple other people.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think I got pretty much every single play.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: There's definitely some plays missed here, but I will drop, I'll just go ahead and drop in the description, my notes from today.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'll go ahead and do that for y'all.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: And so you can see that.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not gonna go over every single play here on this show.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think that that's the best use of time, but we're gonna kind of break it all down.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: My recap of practice based on everything I saw, which was not literally everything, but it was most of it.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, excited to get into it, really appreciate y'all being here.

- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: So individual, done in their separate areas like you weren't doing individual with both teams.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting coached up by your coaches.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then the team stuff, 11 on 11, was where they really got together and battled.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of work today.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: The really was, and like I said, I think I have pretty much everything.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously some little things here and there that I probably wasn't able to get, but like I mentioned, all of my notes from this one, I'm going to drop in the description and then we'll get into my recap here.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think Chris O'Lave had quite a day, scored a bunch of touchdowns, got a bunch of catches, did a bunch of good stuff, he's a really, really good player, newsflash.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the context of that is,
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: At least one of those would have been a sack by Trayvon Walker, which you can see that video on Twitter.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: The Saints tweeted it out that Olaway went up and grabbed it over Travis Hunter, which he did, but
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you're watching the back field there, Trayvon Walker was there a good half second full second before the quarterback released the football and had to just stop because you're not allowed to hit here.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Not allowed to hit the quarterback.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: So let's call it spade a spade.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Nice play by a lava, but it wouldn't have mattered.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, Travis Hunter, what I like Travis Hunter to go get his hands on that football or can test it instead of trying to jump it.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, not a perfect play by Travis Hunter.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, overrout and it looked to me like Travis Hunter got crossed up by like his own defender kind of picked him not like he ran into the fender, but he had to run around the defender and so Bryce Lance who is a really, really good athlete, young receiver was able to get open on that.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Those were the only two that I saw Travis Hunter give up defensively and then.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: He also did catch a touchdown pass from Nick Mullins in red zone.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: It did feel like early on.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: These Saints passing offense and early on, these Saints passing defense was getting the best of the Jaguars.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: It felt really bad for a few minutes early on in practice.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like you had Chase Young getting in the back field a good bit.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: You had Chase Young, the Saints defense event.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: You had Joey and Blackman.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Interception on Trevor Lawrence on the first pass of 11 a couple more pass breakups of Trevor Lawrence by Julian Blackman who's a former Indianapolis Colt y'all should remember him from Andy Trevor Lawrence had plenty of success against him in his career, but yeah Blackman did a good job on a couple plays there and so it just felt and you know you have these Saints plays happening then which of course in real time I couldn't tell that Walker got that sack but you go back and
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think early on the Saints came out and they punched the jacks in the mouth a little, but not from a physicality standpoint, but just from like an executions standpoint in the passing game.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then thanks settled in, and both teams started trading some punches, not literally.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: There was a little shoving after one play, but nothing too crazy, which is always good to see.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of a waste of time.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think both defensive fronts did a lot of good things.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the Saints good work came very early on against an offensive line that's far from full strength right now, right?
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Your Jaguars starting five offensive line is down at least two of the starters, right?
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, not at least two, exactly two.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: You have Anton Harrison at left tackle, he's just starting left tackle now.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: You have Ezra Cleveland at left guard, you have Robert Hainesy at center.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: But then on the right side you had why am I lament right tackle, Jonah Monheim at right guard, those guys I like them getting this kind of work.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Their young players you drafted last year, I like seeing them having to go against other opponents and getting that experience.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: They both got a little bit of experience last year, but not as much as you'd probably like overall.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like early on.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: They had a little bit of work given to them.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: But overall, it feels like the offensive line settled in and the offense was able to have a good day.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: You had a screenplay that actually worked for the Jaguars and Bacial Tut and a long screenplay.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's something we've been monitoring.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like the Jaguars have not been executing screens at a very high level on the offensive side of the ball.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: But as I mentioned, like the Jaguars defensive front
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think they did good things all day.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I know that when Chuck released the ball when he got rid of the ball, there was some good results, especially when you're talking about like the full field stuff.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Things got a little bit tighter, a little bit more can press for Tyler's Chuck in the red zone.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Jack defense, I think tightened up a little bit there.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: and Jack's offense really got heated up in the red zone, but defensive front, Jack worse.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Trademark Walker, Eric Armstead, they both had individual sacks and they both would've combined for another sack.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen had a would-be sack.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Dennis Gardett had a would-be sack.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: That was a bunch of production in the backfield against a good Saint's offensive line.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: First play of team, Eric Armstead had a would-be sack.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: ventral miller foe, lua can, Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson, all had runstuffs, I think as I mentioned, both starting quarterback did some good things.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor by my count and I probably missed a throw or two, maybe even more was 10 of 16 with six touchdowns in an interception, two touchdowns to Nate Borkinger, two touchdowns to Parker Washington, or no, one touchdown to Parker Washington.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: one to Brian Thomas Jr., one to Jacobi Myers, the one to Jacobi, the Jack Wars did put out and it was a really beautiful touchdown then zone.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of that work came in the red zone, but he was able to lead some scoring, scoring drive from outside the red zone as well.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: And, as I mentioned, you know, a screenplay executed very well, completions to borecature, touch-downs to borecature.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: You like to see that kind of stuff.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: So honestly, it feels like it ended up being a pretty even practice.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: All things considered.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: The Saints came out hotter than the Jaguars.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly, first five, ten minutes of practice.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: where the jags were basically completely dominant on offense and had a lot more stops on defense than the Saints did.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it was a pretty even practice.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want an even practice, you want to win the practice.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: So like, yeah, we can all sit here and say, well, I think just based on the vibes like, it started off so poorly that Jaguar fans are happy to just feel like, okay, well, we had an even practice.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I think you want to kick butt.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be a lot of things I think Liam Cohen wants to improve upon from this practice.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Now, would it help if you had your starting right side of your offensive line?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, it would probably help.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Would it help if, like, so in these practices, offense and defense are going at the same time on opposite fields.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: So like Travis Hunter,
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: couldn't play offense and defense at the same time.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: In an NFL game, there's only one set of plays going on at one time.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't have to be as limited with your usage necessarily with Travis Hunter in an actual game as you do in practice.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: So all that to say is, I think that the Jags mixed in matcha lot.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jabar Muhammad had a lot of ups and downs.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: He played with the ones, he played with the twos,
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Going up against Crystal Alave, that's a tough assignment.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: He did some decent things there.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: He had a pass break up down the field.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: He had a play where he kept Bryce Lance from getting his feet down in the end zone.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: But then he also had a play where it looked like to me that on a comeback route,
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Bubmines got wide open against him and it looked like Bubmines would have scored a touchdown on a comeback, running 30, 40 yards after the catch, that's really disappointing type of stuff in my opinion.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I think that ups and downs here for 37, Jabar Muhammad,
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Braswell had a pass break up.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a very heated contest for that job.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: As I talked about, kind of like your last corner in my opinion, could they keep both of them very well, they could.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know exactly how the roster math is gonna play out, but I expect, for my vantage point, only one of them to make the team.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: So good battle there.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Vintrell Miller, I think he got more of the work with the ones as the weekside line backer next to foie L'Occan, just something to keep in mind there.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a big matchup contest competition between him and Branson Colmes right now.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I think that pretty even practice, do you want to even practice?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Not really, is it good that they fought back from getting punched in the mouth early on?
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I would have liked to have seen them seem a little bit more dominant.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like at the very beginning of practice, Trevor Lawrence and the offense just couldn't do anything.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: When he got the ball off, it was getting broken up.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: When he didn't get the ball off, you're getting pressure in the backfield.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then it seemed like Tyler Schuck started the practice basically lights out, completing everything.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously at least one of those completions would have actually been a sack, but still.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think you got to start a little bit faster.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: Is it the end of the world?
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely not.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was a practice with over a month left until the first game.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna have another practice against the Panthers and then two practices against the Bucks.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna have preseason games.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna have a lot of practice work with themselves.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of time to become the team that the Jaguar is want to be in 2026, which is division champions, and competing for the Limbardi trophy.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: So, really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: We do have Club Jaguar tonight, 830 PM on my channel.

- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a great one.
