- 2:13Speaker 1: that's something we'd like to have happened. Yeah, you like
- 2:15Speaker 1: to have happened. In the meantime, people are dying out there,
- 2:18Speaker 1: dropping like flies in the street. Now this little thing, Phil,
- 2:21Speaker 1: if you've got a lot of heat, you're gonna have
- 2:22Speaker 1: a lot of people just dropping like flies. Yes, and
- 2:25Speaker 1: you remember No Tenant we had the heat wave and
- 2:27Speaker 1: Ted Bell was putting old people in buckets of ice.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that went over real well, well you know, you
- 2:32Speaker 2: don't know.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I don't know.

- 3:00Speaker 1: you the money.
- 3:01Speaker 2: What money do you want to give me?
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm just making it up. I knew that you'd cut
- 3:04Speaker 1: me off, so I thought it just makes something up
- 3:05Speaker 1: as you were fading it up.
- 3:07Speaker 2: All right, So anyway, there's going to be record breaking.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Heat, record breaking heat. Phil and Ted Bell. I think
- 3:13Speaker 1: he is going to check in because the Bud was
- 3:14Speaker 1: referenenting when he put old people in bucket's eyes. And
- 3:17Speaker 1: of course Ted is also going to be on the
- 3:19Speaker 1: on the radio archive Hower.

- 3:26Speaker 2: Bill record breaking heat. I know, but what do you
- 3:28Speaker 2: want me to do?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Talk about it, talk a little bit about it, talk
- 3:31Speaker 1: about it, talk about it about but you know what
- 3:35Speaker 1: it's like to have record breaking I don't know. I

- 3:40Speaker 1: David you there, Okay, David g who is the vice

- 3:49Speaker 1: all right, so there's record breaking heat. The only thing
- 3:51Speaker 1: that we want to tell people.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Phil is that, well, here, while we're sitting here so
- 3:55Speaker 5: enjoyably entertaining people, we are sitting in hell.
- 4:00Speaker 3: They're basically me, I were sitting in We were sitting
- 4:02Speaker 3: in hell. They're entertaining people doing the best weekend with
- 4:04Speaker 3: what we got and we're in hell. We're in hell. Yay,
- 4:09Speaker 3: thank you.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Well, I knew that there was going to be record
- 4:13Speaker 1: breaking heat. You still got that acid reflux, don't you?
- 4:15Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:16Speaker 2: I do, I do.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I mean I went out to dinner last night. I
- 4:18Speaker 1: forget what I had.
- 4:19Speaker 5: I had Minnestroni soup and I had a I had
- 4:21Speaker 5: Miniestroni soup, and I had some bruschetta, and I had
- 4:26Speaker 5: a Caesar salad. But for some reason, you got that
- 4:29Speaker 5: acid reflux.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Yeah, for the first time in a long time that
- 4:32Speaker 5: you always know, at least in my world, I know
- 4:34Speaker 5: that I'm eating crap if I get that. Okay, what's
- 4:36Speaker 5: acid reflux?
- 4:37Speaker 2: Never? Never mind?
- 4:38Speaker 4: Man?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Okay, So today, yes, in California, in southern California specifically,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you see that big bottle of Coca Cola sitting there.
- 4:46Speaker 1: But hey, Phil, we're in the middle of the show.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I know, we just go get that YESTERD Coca cola
- 4:52Speaker 1: at a time like this. That's diet coke, and I'd
- 4:54Speaker 1: like to have it. God damn man, God damn man.
- 4:58Speaker 5: What's with everybody with the drive throat. Well, it's record
- 5:00Speaker 5: breaking heat. Yeah, we're thinking about that. Where are you
- 5:04Speaker 5: all right?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Thanks, Bud.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Yeah, so we've had hot days in this town, god knows.
- 5:11Speaker 5: And we've had record breaking heat in this town, God knows.
- 5:14Speaker 5: And it brings up to speed on that is Margaret Gray,
- 5:17Speaker 5: who is doing her Little Bird told me call them today.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Who are you interviewing, Margaret?
- 5:21Speaker 4: Well, we wanted to get some principles here in Santa Monica,
- 5:24Speaker 4: some of the city leadership, to talk about how we
- 5:26Speaker 4: can keep cool, you know, keep cool and keep calm
- 5:30Speaker 4: in these crazy hazy days of summer one two, one,
- 5:34Speaker 4: two three. Oh, the crazy lazy days of summer one
- 5:39Speaker 4: two three.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Oh, the crazy lazy Margaret, If you don't mind lazy,
- 5:43Speaker 1: what's wrong? Is you got Jason Jay doing the Jason's
- 5:47Speaker 1: here doing percushion.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Holy crazy. My mom just gave me the phone. I
- 5:51Speaker 4: don't know.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Would you give it back to work?
- 5:53Speaker 4: Hey mom, Mom, I don't care.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Shoot, you just want to take it?
- 5:58Speaker 5: Okay, Jason, did you tell your mother that if she
- 6:01Speaker 5: doesn't take the phone, that we're gonna have to find
- 6:03Speaker 5: somebody else to do her part in this show?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Well, mister Henry said that they're going to probably fire
- 6:08Speaker 1: you and have someone else do your part in.
- 6:10Speaker 4: The show and the phone. Yes, Phil, all right.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Margaret, I'm just asking you know, if you're just stay
- 6:15Speaker 1: with us here? And I don't I like the way
- 6:18Speaker 1: you sing?
- 6:18Speaker 4: Well, it was part of the show. I checked in
- 6:20Speaker 4: with Bud.
- 6:21Speaker 3: She did ask me. She said, what if I start
- 6:23Speaker 3: to sing?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Okay? You know, I really love your singing. If you're
- 6:26Speaker 2: in studio here.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I know, Phil, but I'm not there. I'm here. I've
- 6:29Speaker 4: got job constraints, job restraints. I have job commitments. You
- 6:36Speaker 4: know what that is, Margaret.
- 6:37Speaker 1: What I'm trying to say, talk about commitments?
- 6:42Speaker 4: See, I do that. All this is in a I'm
- 6:44Speaker 4: in a Middle Eastern souk. You know what a suk is.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yes, it's a marketplace.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Where'd you learn about that?
- 6:50Speaker 2: I was in Dubai four years ago? Don't remember?
- 6:54Speaker 4: Oh my god, you hear him?
- 6:55Speaker 3: I was.
- 7:00Speaker 4: You're really something filmed?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah? So anyway, Margaret, what did you want to tell
- 7:03Speaker 1: me about these hot days we're having here in California?
- 7:06Speaker 4: Well, a little story that your audience doesn't know. And
- 7:09Speaker 4: I don't know whether or not you've told him yourself,
- 7:12Speaker 4: But ladies, and gentlemen, there is a certain individual that
- 7:15Speaker 4: we know. Some of us like him, some of us.
- 7:18Speaker 4: But he was born on a labor day in September
- 7:22Speaker 4: of nineteen one hundred and and it was a recorded
- 7:26Speaker 4: one of the hottest days in history in southern California.
- 7:31Speaker 4: And that was the day that you were born. Film.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yeah, my mother said it was a blazing hot day.
- 7:35Speaker 5: In fact, I went back and I looked at the
- 7:36Speaker 5: microfish and I was born. I was born at the
- 7:39Speaker 5: tail end of the Korean War, and there were these
- 7:41Speaker 5: big headlines about MiG jets getting shot down and oh, yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 5: the temper is just like one hundred and ten degrees
- 7:46Speaker 5: in LA. Is that how hot it's going to be today?
- 7:49Speaker 4: Well, first of all, I'm not doing how hot it's
- 7:51Speaker 4: going to be today. I'm talking Phil about the fact
- 7:55Speaker 4: that you were born on a hot damn day. You, Phil,
- 8:00Speaker 4: came out hot as a pistol. When you're hot, you're hot.
- 8:04Speaker 4: When you're not, you're not.
- 8:05Speaker 1: When you're hot, you're hot. It Phil, Frank, I just said,
- 8:12Speaker 1: grab the phone for me.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Frank.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I thought you were done. Phil. It's Frank Gray. How
- 8:16Speaker 1: are you doing?
- 8:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 8:18Speaker 1: No, I always tell it. Margaret because you know when
- 8:21Speaker 1: the heat wave hit back in the one you're talking about,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I had just got out of the army. You know,
- 8:27Speaker 1: they know I have Korea.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I didn't know. You didn't go to Korea.
- 8:30Speaker 1: No, No, I didn't. I just I was in the
- 8:32Speaker 1: army during the Korean campaign. But I just got out
- 8:34Speaker 1: of the army and I was right, and I mustered
- 8:36Speaker 1: out over here at Camp Bungden. You know what that was.
- 8:39Speaker 2: No, I don't know.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I'm just making it up. It didn't exist. I actually
- 8:42Speaker 1: I mustard out, all right, I'm sorry. I was up
- 8:45Speaker 1: Pittford Brag, Northern.
- 8:47Speaker 2: California, Okay, so, and it was a hot one.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I don't know. They said it was hot. I was
- 8:53Speaker 1: in northern California. It was very cool by anyway, Phil,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I wanted to wish you a very happy Well, it's
- 8:58Speaker 1: not your birthday, is it. I mean the phone if
- 9:00Speaker 1: you don't mind, Okay, don't ever grab the phone away
- 9:03Speaker 1: from me me, Frank Gray, Sorry anyway, Phil, No, I
- 9:10Speaker 1: was not. I was at Fort Bragg. I was not
- 9:13Speaker 1: dead sun. But I understand it was very hot, Frank.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Frank, I questioned for you were you in on the
- 9:20Speaker 5: day that I'm talking about that labor day, that very
- 9:22Speaker 5: very hot day.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You were in northern California. Yes, And did you get
- 9:25Speaker 1: into San Francisco all during the summer. Oh yeah, we
- 9:28Speaker 1: got in down San Francisco. And in fact, I, in
- 9:30Speaker 1: fact I got into trouble because I had They thought
- 9:34Speaker 1: I was a wall, you know, let's say, and they
- 9:36Speaker 1: thought I was able, and they put me in front
- 9:38Speaker 1: of the uh Presidio MP and they said, you know
- 9:43Speaker 1: that I had the precidity. They accused me of going
- 9:47Speaker 1: a wall and I wasn't. I passed out on the
- 9:51Speaker 1: floor of the bunk, near near my bunk, and they
- 9:53Speaker 1: didn't so all they saw were two feet sticking out
- 9:55Speaker 1: and they didn't know their mind.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Would say this again. This was when it was that.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Labor that year you're talking about. I was in San
- 10:02Speaker 1: Francisco to Presidio and I wasn't at Parcita, but I
- 10:05Speaker 1: went back up to Fort Bragg after we did a
- 10:07Speaker 1: little party and I passed out near my bunk and
- 10:10Speaker 1: all they saw was two legs, and they didn't think
- 10:12Speaker 1: it was said, what it looks like, Grey's not here, Frank,
- 10:14Speaker 1: Gray's a wall. They're gonna throw me in the hatch.
- 10:17Speaker 1: You know, just for it, I had to tell the
- 10:19Speaker 1: sergeant that I was actually was actually me. So you
- 10:22Speaker 1: passed out on the floor with just your legs sticking out,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and they assumed they weren't your legs, that's right, And
- 10:28Speaker 1: they gave me they were going to give me like
- 10:30Speaker 1: thirty days because they thought I was a wall.
- 10:33Speaker 4: What thanks telling the story. It wasn't that serious, Frank.
- 10:38Speaker 4: They figured out it was you within twenty four hours.
- 10:41Speaker 1: They said that they hadn't figured it out, they would
- 10:43Speaker 1: have given me thirty days.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Okay, we're off into a whole new thing here, Frank.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You and the army and the fact that they thought
- 10:50Speaker 1: you were a wall, so all they saw were two
- 10:53Speaker 1: legs sticking out.
- 10:53Speaker 2: They didn't know they were yours.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Well, it sounds like he's laughing. What are you laughing at,
- 10:58Speaker 1: philm I'm not laughing.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I mean I was laughing a little bit here.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Well, what do you want to know? What I'm saying,
- 11:04Speaker 1: is that the sergeant or that whoever was the corporals. Yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 1: it was a couple of corporals of the sergeant.
- 11:09Speaker 2: And they saw two legs sticking up.
- 11:11Speaker 1: From where from under the bunk?
- 11:13Speaker 2: And why didn't they think they were your legs.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Because they didn't look like my legs, I said. At
- 11:17Speaker 1: the start, he said, they don't want your legs, and
- 11:20Speaker 1: I said, well, how do you know what my legs
- 11:21Speaker 1: look like? God damn you know. And he was ready
- 11:24Speaker 1: to he was ready to slap another another month on
- 11:26Speaker 1: the charge from there. And I said, but that wasn't me.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And I said, well, how do you know that they
- 11:31Speaker 1: weren't my legs? And they said, it look like your legs.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And I said, well, see they're attached to me. Here's
- 11:35Speaker 1: what they hear. They are right now. And he had
- 11:37Speaker 1: to admit then that he was wrong. So he looked
- 11:40Speaker 1: at these legs that he didn't think they were yours.
- 11:42Speaker 1: They thought that you were a wall. They were going
- 11:44Speaker 1: to port you to whoever, Yeah, down the magistrate.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And then you convinced that they were your legs. Yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 2: and you weren't a wall.
- 11:53Speaker 4: But that market you give them an uptime, you'll figure
- 11:55Speaker 4: it out.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Okay, Frank, I'm so happy that you're still with us.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And and thank Jason J. Delmonico for whatever you know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: part he had in this little tail. Well, he didn't
- 12:05Speaker 1: do anything. He's sitting there with his He sat there
- 12:07Speaker 1: with his thumb and his ass eat and ice creams.
- 12:09Speaker 4: We Phil, we're here. It is going to be very
- 12:11Speaker 4: hot tomorrow, so I suggest it is going to be
- 12:14Speaker 4: very hot today. So I do suggest Phil that you uh,
- 12:17Speaker 4: you know, keep cool. Keep cool, my brother, keep cool.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I'm Margaret Gray. When you're hot, you're hot. When you're not,
- 12:24Speaker 4: you're not.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Oh, I went, okay, that's why Margaret's out here, Huffy,
- 12:30Speaker 1: she just got hung up down there.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Well, it is a hot one here today in southern California.
- 12:34Speaker 5: And the other thing I found out today when I
- 12:37Speaker 5: was talking to Florida. I was talking to the guys
- 12:40Speaker 5: that work at Chewies.
- 12:42Speaker 3: You know, yes, they're they're dog food please.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Well yeah, but they were going to send cat food.
- 12:46Speaker 5: And they said, yeah, you know what, the Everglades are
- 12:48Speaker 5: on fire.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I heard about that.
- 12:51Speaker 1: And you know, these people who don't believe in climate change,
- 12:53Speaker 1: take a look, take a good lung. Look very that
- 12:56Speaker 1: doesn't that doesn't prove its climate change. Why wouldn't that
- 12:59Speaker 1: put it's climate change?
- 13:01Speaker 3: White is dupe prove Why do it prove it? Why
- 13:04Speaker 3: do it prove it? Well, you know, Bud if.
- 13:07Speaker 1: For many many years, Florida sat there and they had
- 13:10Speaker 1: hot summers, but they had wet summers, and they had
- 13:12Speaker 1: lots of rain falling, and the Everglades just kind of
- 13:14Speaker 1: got bigger and wetter, and now all of a sudden,
- 13:17Speaker 1: it's dry and the Everglades are on fire, all of
- 13:19Speaker 1: a sudden. You know, within the last couple of summers.
- 13:22Speaker 1: You don't think that's some kind of a change in
- 13:24Speaker 1: the atmosphere and the climate. Well, I mean, it's just
- 13:26Speaker 1: you know, it could be that the Earth maybe the
- 13:30Speaker 1: Earth is closer to the Sun or something.
- 13:32Speaker 2: The Earth is closer to the sun.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's making it hotter.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Well, they would know that.
- 13:37Speaker 3: How would they know that, because they'd be able.
- 13:39Speaker 1: To take measurements in terms of miles. They know how
- 13:40Speaker 1: close we are to the sun usually, and how close
- 13:42Speaker 1: we are to the sun. Now that's something you can track.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Well.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, But so when you say, well, how do you
- 13:47Speaker 1: know it's climate change? Because it didn't used to rain,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and it wasn't burning like hell down there, and there's
- 13:52Speaker 1: a whole lot of stuff that didn't happen, and now
- 13:54Speaker 1: all of a sudden it's happening. It seems to me
- 13:56Speaker 1: something's changed.
