- 1:04Welcome in to another exciting episode of the scene.
- 1:07I am your host, Bubba Starts, and this is Love Noise.
- 1:11Today, we have a very special episode as we welcome Chase Grant, our buddy, back on to the
- 1:16scene projects.
- 1:18It's been a while since we've talked to him, and he's got some new music he's gonna share
- 1:21with us.
- 1:22With me as always are my hosts, Wild Willie.
- 1:28There you are, brother.
- 1:29How you doing?
- 1:30I am doing great.
- 1:31You know, just out here doing what I do every week from
- 1:38spending a lot of time online.
- 1:40Yeah.
- 1:42A lot of interviews.
- 1:43Yeah, man.
- 1:44You've been killing it, and I'm so excited.
- 1:47We just keep getting better and better at what we're doing, and it's really fun to get
- 1:53together to do this show.
- 1:55With us both is our boy, boo boo boo boo.
- 2:01There's our brother.
- 2:02How are doing tonight?
- 2:04I'm doing great.
- 2:06You know, just spent the day make filming some podcasts and getting myself interviewed even.
- 2:10I'm excited for this one.
- 2:11Can't wait to hear some more of Chase Grant's music.
- 2:17Fantastic.
- 2:18And speaking of Chase Grant, let's bring the man in himself.
- 2:21Chase Grant, welcome back to the scene, brother.
- 2:24Hey, guys.
- 2:25How's it going?
- 2:28Man, we are excited to have you, dude.
- 2:31I know we got some real special stuff in store for everybody, but I wanna kick it off at the
- 2:36top of the show expressing my deepest condolences to you and your family and
- 2:41dedicating this show in the memory of your son, Hudson.
- 2:45And we love you guys, and we're always thinking of you.
- 2:48So I wanted to make sure we hit that off the top, and I know we'll probably cover a little
- 2:53bit of the situation throughout the show and talking about your boy.
- 2:57But, yeah, it's never easy for a parent to lose a child, and I I wanted to make sure that we
- 3:05got to express that.
- 3:06And and to carry on his his legacy, it may have been a short life, but he was a spark, and he
- 3:12was an inspiration to not just you, but to us here at the SCENE projects as well.
- 3:18Thank you.
- 3:19You hit the nail on the head with that.
- 3:20I have kind of had this tugging at my heart since since before he even passed, actually,
- 3:26to, like, always let his story, not end in not end in tragedy, but to continue to to pursue
- 3:37forward and to help other families that are in this situation.
- 3:39And I've really kind of laid the foundation for that this week.
- 3:43I'm actually starting another kind of side business with my sponsor, Ian Co, here in Waite
- 3:47Park, Minnesota.
- 3:49She's actually a woman's clothing boutique, which has by rights nothing to do with a man
- 3:55singing country music, but she has been a great sponsor and a good friend throughout all this.
- 3:59And she's a small business here in Central Minnesota.
- 4:02We're actually gonna start a clothing brand called Created With A Purpose that is going to
- 4:06be 100% profit towards, another nonprofit here in Minnesota called Henry's Heroes.
- 4:15Let me get some snaps for that.
- 4:16That's awesome, man.
- 4:18I I love, I love it.
- 4:21Because legacy is all we leave.
- 4:23It's a big reason.
- 4:25It wasn't necessarily the reason I started the podcast, but as it, it became very evident that
- 4:31that's what I was leaving for my children and and for all of these artists that have been on
- 4:37here such as yourself and giving you a platform to share these things and and the impact that
- 4:43we're going to have on on so many lives is I we're just getting started, and we've already
- 4:49gotten so far.
- 4:51So to think of where we're gonna be in in a year in ten years, in twenty years, and the
- 4:57amount of lives we're going to be able to change and impact is just it's gonna be
- 5:01incredible, man.
- 5:03Absolutely.
- 5:04Appreciate you guys for starting this because I've already felt that it's kind of it's
- 5:07starting to take off and good things are happening.
- 5:11Yeah.
- 5:12So, you were a guest recently on Soul Impact, I know, with Willie too, and you got a chance to
- 5:17meet our cohost here tonight.
- 5:19What'd you think of his show?
- 5:20It's a little bit different format than the scene projects.
- 5:23And, obviously, how music saved us is kind of the tagline of the show.
- 5:27I'm sure you have a very, a a very personal, touch to that.
- 5:33So why don't you share a little bit, behind the scenes of how music saved us, Soul Impact?
- 5:39Soul Impact is a really good experience.
- 5:40It was just the other day.
- 5:41Right?
- 5:42Like, not even a week ago, and it just it was so authentic and so very just free form.
- 5:47Like, we there was nothing scripted.
- 5:49There was nothing like I mean, you had questions, of course, but, like, it it was just
- 5:53so, like, just one on one.
- 5:55It was just two friends talking.
- 5:57There was nothing fake about it.
- 6:00It was just as authentic as authentic can be, and I think that is the heart of this whole
- 6:04network, to be honest.
- 6:06And so I had a really good experience on it.
- 6:08We got to talk a little Jesus.
- 6:10We got to talk a little bit about, like, state of the world, which is a touchy subject, but we
- 6:15did we gracefully kinda glided into that and then out again, and it it it was very, very
- 6:24well received.
- 6:25I loved it.
- 6:29I appreciate that.
- 6:30I appreciate that.
- 6:32Yeah.
- 6:32And that's what I I try to do with the rawness of it.
- 6:35You know?
- 6:36We both had our kids kinda coming up, and you know what?
- 6:39Oh, yeah.
- 6:40Oh, you know, oh, well.
- 6:41I everybody's like, you should edit that out.
- 6:44And, you know, and to hear someone else's perspective on it is it's humbling because, you
- 6:50know, you pretty much just said exactly what I want people to see.
- 6:55Yeah.
- 6:55You're doing a great job of of that if that's your goal because that's what I felt like
- 6:58leaving there.
- 6:59It was very, very well done.
- 7:02I appreciate that, buddy.
- 7:03I look forward to a great friendship with you.
- 7:05Me too.
- 7:06Yeah.
- 7:06Absolutely.
- 7:07So I just met Willie back in June, down there in Summersville, Missouri.
- 7:12Shout out to captain Jacks and and shout out to VibeFest.
- 7:15We're gonna have to teach Boo Boo how to mute his mic before he coughs in all of our faces.
- 7:18But, one day one day, we're training here.
- 7:22And he had mentioned maybe a week after, I had gotten back home.
- 7:27He's like, I'm thinking about starting a podcast and having spent a weekend with him.
- 7:32You know, we were running sound together and kind of very you know, we hung out a lot.
- 7:36And just knowing the man that he was and how comfortable people were around him, I was just
- 7:42like, whatever I can do to help you, man.
- 7:44What whatever I can do because I knew it was gonna be great.
- 7:47And now to look at three months has gone by, how many episodes did you say you've got
- 7:52recorded now, Willie?
- 7:54I got 30 uploaded in the podcast.
- 7:56I have more than that, but I have 30 uploaded to podcast data AI ready to fire.
- 8:02That's grinding.
- 8:03That's that's some work right there.
- 8:06Well, I have and, you know, me and you talked about this.
- 8:09I have a great mentor.
- 8:10I mean, I tell Bubba all the time that it can be a better mentor to ask for as far as paving
- 8:16the lane for this podcast.
- 8:18Yep.
- 8:19You know, I mentioned like you said, I mentioned the whole podcast idea, and next
- 8:23thing I know, here's all big brother telling you, just do it, you know, not to rip off Nike
- 8:29or anything.
- 8:30But
- 8:31Hit record, and just go and and learn it on the fly because nobody's watching.
- 8:38Right?
- 8:38That's kind of been our motto the whole time.
- 8:40And even when we have people watching, we're never going to change what we do.
- 8:45We don't necessarily I mean, we love our fans, and I don't want this to come off wrong, but
- 8:49we're not necessarily doing it for the fans.
- 8:51We're doing it for the artists.
- 8:52We're doing it to provide this platform where there's just not a lot of platforms out there
- 8:59for artists to promote their art outside of their own social media.
- 9:03Right?
- 9:04And not that we're not, you know, reposting these things and you're sharing our art out
- 9:09there, but it's a different conversation when somebody else is kinda guiding it.
- 9:14Right?
- 9:14And I saw that from appearances on local news channels and different things that I was
- 9:19getting an opportunity to do and realizing that not everybody has those opportunities.
- 9:24And while I can't start a, you know, a terrestrial TV station anytime soon, I have a
- 9:32YouTube channel.
- 9:32And we have these things that we can grow.
- 9:35And like I said, this we haven't even had the YouTube channel for a year yet, and we're, you
- 9:40know, cresting a quarter million views.
- 9:43We are you know, we need to get that subscriber count out.
- 9:47So shameless plug here.
- 9:48Subscribe to the channel if you're watching on YouTube or anywhere that you're watching.
- 9:51Make sure that you're following.
- 9:53Subscribe and make sure you're following Chase on everything he's doing and Boo Boo and Willie
- 9:57and get in the community because as we tighten these things up, that you're gonna see a lot of
- 10:03the same faces in between all the shows.
- 10:06Right?
- 10:07And that was kind of the point to bring in more hosts was that, yeah, you can be on my show,
- 10:13but wouldn't it be better if you were able to kinda come into one house and to do four or
- 10:18five shows, and then those are all going out there.
- 10:21And you didn't have to necessarily go out and hunt all of these different podcasts.
- 10:26You you knocked on one door and it was, hey.
- 10:28Come on in.
- 10:29Oh, and by the way, go knock on that door and that door and that door.
- 10:33And, Chase, you're really one of the first ones that we've had, Dalton Jones last week as well,
- 10:39that that has taken full advantage of that.
- 10:41And that's why I was so thrilled to have you on here tonight, and I can't wait to listen to
- 10:46some of your music.
- 10:47Honestly, I don't think I've really listened to much besides your your lives on Facebook of
- 10:53your stuff.
- 10:53So we're gonna get to hear some of your recorded music, and you're gonna play live for
- 10:57us tonight as well.
- 10:58Is that right?
- 10:59Yes, sir.
- 11:01Yep.
- 11:01I got a few it's actually all originals and all new stuff pretty much.
- 11:05It's not even the ones that have been released for a while.
- 11:07It's stuff that's coming up on an upcoming album here in October.
- 11:12Incredible.
- 11:13Well, Willie, you got one, dialed up for us?
- 11:16Yeah.
- 11:17I
- 11:17do.
- 11:17Willie to pull up the pull up the songs.
- 11:21We already got comments coming in here.
- 11:24Nobody's complaining about boo boo's Internet
- 11:28Wi Fi.
- 11:28Good?
- 11:31My new Wi Fi is better, so we should be good for tonight, actually.
- 11:35I don't even know where the router is, and we don't even have problems.
- 11:39There
- 11:41we go.
- 11:42There we go.
- 11:45Look at that.
- 11:45So this is the cover art for the new album, Chase.
- 11:49Is that right?
- 11:49It is.
- 11:50That looks great, man.
- 11:52Thanks.
- 11:53I love how much the hat is part of your everything.
- 11:56Right?
- 11:57Like, it's a cool it's a cool look, man.
- 11:59I'm jealous.
- 12:00It's a there's there's a story behind that too.
- 12:03We can get into that at at some point too.
- 12:04It's
- 12:05Well, you could tell it right now.
- 12:06Go ahead, Chase.
- 12:08So the the whole thing with music for myself is it's always been pointing back to god because
- 12:14it started in church worship to the point where I could not even, like, sing in front of my own
- 12:18wife before I auditioned for this worship team, and that's where it grew.
- 12:22That's where that was the foundation of it.
- 12:24And it's I'm still on that on that worship team.
- 12:27It's it's changed, you know, the way it looks now, but I'm still playing with them.
- 12:31And my whole life, just kinda spent, like,
- 12:35you know, oh, what are
- 12:35people gonna think of, you know, this or that or the way I look or the way I talk or walk?
- 12:40And then it it just got to be so fed up with that at some point that so, like, this hat when
- 12:45I first bought it because I I got a big inspiration as the band Need to Breathe, kind
- 12:49of a Christian Southern rock type band, and he's got a hat like this.
- 12:54And I was like, I can't pull that.
- 12:56For it, like, I I that's silly.
- 12:58It looks good on him, not on me.
- 12:59So I bought it, and then I was still like, oh, I can't wear it.
- 13:02I can't wear it.
- 13:03I'm gonna get made fun of.
- 13:04And I'm like, who cares?
- 13:07Like like like, especially recently with everything going on, it was like, life is so
- 13:11short.
- 13:12Like, wear the hat.
- 13:14Be different.
- 13:15Like, do the thing.
- 13:16You know?
- 13:16Because, like, you only get this one shot.
- 13:18And if you don't take those chances, this is just a very little thing, but, like, it's just
- 13:23a it's actually a representation of, like, me letting go of all the stresses and just being
- 13:28myself for, like, the first time in my life in these past couple years.
- 13:32That's a great story.
- 13:36And I think, you know, some of these things give us powers.
- 13:40Right?
- 13:40They they give us the those superpowers, that extra bit of confidence.
- 13:43Right?
- 13:44I have a custom guitar strap that, that I wear at my shows that has, you know, starts on it
- 13:50and representing who who I am.
- 13:53Right?
- 13:54And I always feel like when I put that on and I put that custom guitar on that my friend built
- 13:59and, like, it it means something extra.
- 14:02And it's, you know, it it's it's special.
- 14:05And that's those are the things that make us special as artists and as human beings.
- 14:10And like you said, wear the hat.
- 14:12Life's too damn short.
- 14:13It is.
- 14:14Yeah.
- 14:14Who cares what people think?
- 14:15If you like it, do it.
- 14:17Awesome.
- 14:18Well, Will, you you got the song pulled up?
- 14:20Sorry, Chase.
- 14:20I didn't mean to cut you off there.
- 14:21No.
- 14:22No.
- 14:22You're fine.
- 14:23Yeah.
- 14:24Without any further ado, this is cold rain in October by Chase Grant.
- 18:02Awesome stuff, Chase.
- 18:05Thank you.
- 18:05I I wasn't sure if you guys could hear it at first because I was like, oh, I don't hear
- 18:08nothing on my end, but you must have had to mute mine to get that stuff going.
- 18:14Maybe.
- 18:15I don't know.
- 18:15We could hear it just fine, on ours.
- 18:18Yeah.
- 18:19That's all that matters.
- 18:20Good deal.
- 18:22Yeah, man.
- 18:23I thought it sounded, fantastic.
- 18:25Cool tune.
- 18:26Where where'd you do your recording at on that one?
- 18:29So I work with this guy named Sam Snyder.
- 18:32He is a good friend of mine.
- 18:34I've known him for probably the past six, seven years.
- 18:38He started off in the church that we go to, the waters here in Sartell, and he's been doing
- 18:43sound and mixing for the last thirteen, fourteen years.
- 18:47And just recently, this last year and a half, he has been a freelancer, and he runs sound for
- 18:53live bands such as, like, Mason Dixon line and then has, his own studio as well, and I work
- 18:59with him.
- 19:00Very cool.
- 19:01Yeah.
- 19:02So are you playing a lot of the instruments, or how did that kinda come about?
- 19:06Because you don't typically I, Lisa, I don't see you perform with a band.
- 19:09Most of the stuff I see you do is solo or or I know you perform with another buddy too, but
- 19:14who who's on the album with you?
- 19:16It's basically just me.
- 19:18It I cover all the guitars.
- 19:20The bass is my buddy Paul Nyerengarten.
- 19:23He was in a an old band with me, and then he actually plays sometimes duos with me, and then
- 19:28he plays in my band that I kinda put together to do just shows here and there as well.
- 19:34So it's it's pretty much just me and him, and then Sam jumps in on some of the background
- 19:38vocals and kinda tag team everything.
- 19:42But I've been looking at working with more and more artists in the area such as, like, there's
- 19:45a song called Daisy that just came out.
- 19:48I don't know if I'll play that one tonight, but Ellen Springer, she's another keys player here
- 19:53in the area.
- 19:54I kind of recruited her to come and help out because I'm kind of under the the way of living
- 19:59of, like you know, a rising tide raises all ships.
- 20:03So I'm just kinda, like, pulling these people in and, like, kind of exposing them to
- 20:06recording and just kinda building relationships, and it's cool.
- 20:12Yeah.
- 20:12I love it, man.
- 20:13It came out great, and it's so fun.
- 20:16I'm working through some songs right now.
- 20:18We're pretty much done tracking.
- 20:20I got, one more song with the guitars I'm laying down, but, worked with some of my good
- 20:25friends, guys that I've known for a a long time out in Rapid City, Black Hills Area, South
- 20:30Dakota where I grew up and where, my musical journey kinda started.
- 20:34Right?
- 20:35And to get to work with my friends, and we're not in a band together, but because of, you
- 20:41know, their expertise as musicians and me having a lot of these stuff at least demoed at
- 20:47some point, live recordings or something, that I was able to highlight, hey.
- 20:51These are the songs.
- 20:53When we got in the studio, it's really efficient.
- 20:54I mean, it was, like, run through them one or two times, hit record, and that's really what
- 20:58you're hearing on the record.
- 21:01So looking forward to, getting those out there here soon this year.
- 21:05And, yeah, I I love the process.
- 21:08Like you said, collaboration is key, and a rising tide raises all ships.
- 21:13And getting to bring new people into the recording process, I think, is really cool that
- 21:17maybe wouldn't have that experience on their own.
- 21:20Right?
- 21:21They maybe don't have the wherewithal or they don't have the songs and getting to see people
- 21:26because that's their art.
- 21:27Whether they're just a musician, maybe they're not an artist and they're not writing their own
- 21:31music, that without you bringing them in, they maybe never get to have that experience.
- 21:36And then once you've done it, then you have a, you know, a a lot more to offer and to do.
- 21:43So, yeah, man.
- 21:44Very, very cool song.
- 21:46I really, I really liked it.
- 21:48Thank you.
- 21:49I appreciate it.
- 21:50It was an amazing song.
- 21:52I ain't gonna lie.
- 21:53Haven't heard the other one one of the ones you're gonna play tonight, the hardest thing to
- 21:59do when I upload these songs is not listen because I want to be just surprised as these
- 22:05guys are.
- 22:06Yeah.
- 22:06But it is so hard.
- 22:08I mean, I already got a preview of one of them because we talked about it on my show.
- 22:12Yep.
- 22:12But just to see your talent and your heart, you know, we talked about this on my show that you
- 22:18put into your music.
- 22:20I could see you going really far with your music.
- 22:23Thanks.
- 22:24I I really I try to stay as humble as I can because it's I at the end of the day, like I
- 22:30said, I'm not doing this for me.
- 22:31I'm doing this for I wanna I want people to get my you know, get their attention with the hat
- 22:36and, like, you know, the voice and stuff.
- 22:38But, like, once I have that, it's like, hey.
- 22:41This is as real as it gets, and I wanna lead them lead them to the cross.
- 22:43I wanna lead them to, like this is what god's done for me.
- 22:46This is what, you know, real living can look like.
- 22:49Like, it's not always pretty.
- 22:51It's not always perfect pitch.
- 22:52It's not always this, that, the other thing, but, like, this is a direction I think the
- 22:57country needs to the world needs to go.
- 23:00It's it's that.
- 23:00And it's it just leads back to the gospel, man.
- 23:03Like, it's that's what I've always done since the beginning, and I can probably say that I've
- 23:08always strived for that.
- 23:09Now I'm still playing party songs.
- 23:11I'm still having fun.
- 23:12It's not all, like, Christian and gospel music out there.
- 23:15Don't get me wrong.
- 23:16But at the end of the day, like, the heart of my message and the heart of my show is always
- 23:19that.
- 23:20And I I I see it working in people.
- 23:22I see that there's people hungry for that.
- 23:24It's it's very apparent more so than I would have originally thought.
- 23:30Chase, we had one of our super fans, Renee here, commented.
- 23:34Can you see the comment on your screen?
- 23:35Yes.
- 23:36I do.
- 23:36Sorry, man.
- 23:36I think my eyes are getting better.
- 23:37Now I see it now that I zoom in a little bit.
- 23:40Thank you.
- 23:41I really appreciate that.
- 23:45I've We'd love getting the
- 23:47go ahead, Chase.
- 23:48I sang with, like, the rasp right away, and I was like I was kinda joked, like, oh, I sing
- 23:52that way because it's because I don't know how to really sing.
- 23:55You know?
- 23:55Like, I wasn't trained or anything, but it's again, it's just a a raw raw vocals, and it
- 24:01seems to work.
- 24:03Awesome.
- 24:04And, yeah, another another comment here.
- 24:07Musical inspirations.
- 24:09I love it.
- 24:09What a great question, AJ.
- 24:11Thanks for throwing that in the chat.
- 24:13So, musically, I grew up listening to absolutely everything, and I know everybody
- 24:17says that, but it was, like, literally on my little iPod back in the day, you could have
- 24:21found Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Tupac, Limp Bizkit, Nirvana, like, all of it.
- 24:28But at the end of the day, what I really took from music was a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd for my
- 24:33guitar playing and the the chops and then everything that came from that was those guys.
- 24:38Even a little vocals from Ronnie Van Zant.
- 24:41But, like, as I got older, it was, like, need to breathe and some of these, kind of on the
- 24:47edge, like, Christian bands and stuff like that.
- 24:49But anything in between there too.
- 24:51But, yeah, I'd say mostly from those two those two rocks.
- 24:57Very cool.
- 24:57Thank you, AJ, for the great question, man.
- 24:59We're gonna have to bring you in to help us host this thing sometime.
- 25:03Which that's really funny because that's actually one of the questions I asked him on my
- 25:07show.
- 25:08Yeah.
- 25:08So he had a he had an answer for it already because he stumbled a little bit when I asked
- 25:14him the first time.
- 25:15Yeah.
- 25:18Well, that's why we do the podcast first.
- 25:21Right?
- 25:21We we we vet everyone and get them used to the process and the things that we like to ask, and
- 25:27then we bring you on Love Noise to do it live.
- 25:29And Yep.
- 25:30It's this show just continues to to amaze me because we don't just get to listen to the
- 25:37songs.
- 25:37We have the Scene Projects Radio right now where we're running out the songs, and people
- 25:41can tune in onthesceneprojects.com and and listen to this music.
- 25:45But they're not getting the stories behind it, and they're not getting to engage with the
- 25:49artists.
- 25:49And I thought that was really cool about the format of this show specifically, and Renee and
- 25:54AJ have been really gracious to kinda jump in here.
- 25:57We love throwing up the comments.
- 25:58We love like, it it's an open forum.
- 26:00Right?
- 26:00We might be the ones on camera, but, this is really a chance for everybody to engage with
- 26:06each other and and, yeah, to do that.
- 26:09Renee, specifically, are you talking, like, a a cover or a, an original of his?
- 26:19Wait and see if she answers.
- 26:20I guess I could I could answer both ways.
- 26:23Ali, go ahead.
- 26:24We'll answer both of them.
- 26:25I'll answer both ways.
- 26:26So as far as, like, a song that I didn't write, I I was actually just recently asked that.
- 26:32They were like, if you were like, if this was your last song, what were you saying?
- 26:34And it was actually kinda more simple than I thought.
- 26:37And I I was I was it was just at a gig the other day and I actually unplugged because
- 26:42there's people there for a while and then it slowed way down and I was just kinda sitting
- 26:45with some locals at the bar there with my guitar, and I started playing the acoustic
- 26:50version of Simple Man by Leonard Skynyrd.
- 26:52And it the way that that song hits, it's somewhere between their version and, like, the
- 26:56Shinedown version is kinda what I do.
- 26:59And it it still just feels like it just raises up hairs every time, and I I feel like that was
- 27:05a very truly written song.
- 27:07And then as far as originals goes, the one that hits home the most is one called that I'm gonna
- 27:13do tonight yet.
- 27:13It's called the devil's game, and it's simply at its core just a declaration of, like, hey.
- 27:19This is my life, Satan, and you can't have control of it anymore.
- 27:24I'm gonna do this god's way, and I'm gonna do this for myself and my family, and there's no
- 27:30more of your meddling in my business.
- 27:33Is
- 27:34that one you're gonna play live for us tonight, Chase?
- 27:37Yeah.
- 27:37Yep.
- 27:37Let's let's do it right now, man.
- 27:39You got the guitar handy?
- 27:41It's right here.
- 27:44I just changed strings today.
- 27:45We'll see if they stayed in tune for me.
- 27:47Well, you go ahead and tune up, and we're gonna mute boo boo's dogs.
- 27:54Alright.
- 27:55He's like, what?
- 28:02Oh god.
- 28:03You good to go, Chase?
- 28:04Oh, yeah.
- 28:10Could you tell me what's going on in my head?
- 28:15Because it's been a minute since I've been myself happy or sad.
- 28:21There's no pain.
- 28:23It's a cloud of mine alone, I feel so ashamed.
- 28:27Caught in the storm, and my mind's in a war.
- 28:32There's been days I couldn't make it out the door.
- 28:35I'll be damned if I let it define me.
- 28:40Let the word set me free.
- 28:43The devil plays his games around me, but he can't have my life anymore.
- 28:52Because I've gone round for round trying to do this all alone.
- 28:58Saying I'm fine,
- 28:59but I'm a live
- 29:00it alone.
- 29:02Don't be a non towards ones that I love.
- 29:06Let the lord take control.
- 29:09Talent, rhythm take the wheel.
- 29:11I put my faith in words.
- 29:14Just trying to find myself again.
- 29:17Songs that I rhyme.
- 29:27He wrote a good intent.
- 29:28The truth is hard to find.
- 29:31Lay down these birds, try to make up the time that I spend searching for help that I needed.
- 29:40A foolish pride was too stubborn to see.
- 29:43I was trying to strike a balance
- 29:45with my
- 29:46heart and my hair.
- 29:48Silence of doubt that's fenced I'm constantly fed.
- 29:52Because my whole life, I stepped up to the plane, striking out before I could swing.
- 29:59The devil plays his games around me, Well, he can't have my vibe anymore.
- 30:08Because I've gone round for round trying to do this all alone.
- 30:13Say I'm fine, but I'm a leave it alone.
- 30:17Jumping numb towards the ones that I love.
- 30:22I let the Lord take control.
- 30:25I'll let the rhythm take the wheel.
- 30:27I put my faith in the words.
- 30:29Just trying to find myself again in the songs that I write.
- 30:41God, I'm down on my knees, and I'm begging you, please.
- 30:46It's my kids and my wife, man.
- 30:48They're gonna need me.
- 30:50But my broken mind's a million miles away from the man that you want me to be.
- 30:59The devil plays his game.
- 31:24I'll let rhythm take the wheel.
- 31:27I put my faith in the words.
- 31:42Awesome stuff, Chase.
- 31:43Sorry.
- 31:44That was my bad, guys.
- 31:45I was trying to bring up the mic volume a little bit, and then it clipped out.
- 31:48So it cut it cut off about five seconds in there, but, my bad.
- 31:53We're we're learning on the fly, Chase.
- 31:55Beautiful song, man.
- 31:57Thank you.
- 32:01Yeah.
- 32:01That's one of those ones that every single word is straight from the heart.
- 32:06That was a that was a tough song to write.
- 32:07That was a tough one to get out.
- 32:08I felt like I was always under attack every time I went to go finish it or even in the
- 32:13recording process.
- 32:13I was always just something.
- 32:14Like, even the day I recorded the vocals, I was actually pretty hoarse from the weekend before
- 32:20gigging and just the sickness that had hit me.
- 32:22And I was like, oh, I don't know if I'm gonna like this today.
- 32:24Like, we might as well push it off for next week.
- 32:26And I'm like, no.
- 32:27That's enough waiting around it.
- 32:28It was always something.
- 32:30Not not just me, but, like, there's always just, like, a weird roadblock that would just
- 32:34pop up, I'm like, no.
- 32:36That's it.
- 32:36We're doing it.
- 32:37We're and I actually kinda liked the way my vocal sounded at the end of it.
- 32:41It was almost like a little bit of rawness to my voice.
- 32:44So I was like, okay.
- 32:45That was it.
- 32:45We we got it.
- 32:48Yeah.
- 32:48And I think you just absolutely great.
- 32:51I loved it, and you killed it there.
- 32:53And I think that that touch to your voice really added a different depth to the song
- 32:58itself that wouldn't have been there without it.
- 33:02Yeah.
- 33:02That may be true.
- 33:03It it does.
- 33:05Could be.
- 33:07Well and I I it's part of who you are, that kind of gravelly grittiness, and and it speaks
- 33:12to the troubadour that you are.
- 33:14I mean, I I'm on your Facebook all the time, man.
- 33:16You are always playing shows.
- 33:18How many shows a year do you play, Chase?
- 33:20So this is my most so far this year.
- 33:23Actually, by the end of this weekend, I'll be over a 100.
- 33:25I think I'll be at one zero two.
- 33:27And I'm looking at expanding that next year because, honestly, if you think about it this
- 33:31year, it was about the first five months that I was still about, you know, kind of part time
- 33:36with this.
- 33:37It's only been since so May after my son was born, was May 13, and then I took about a three
- 33:42week little break.
- 33:44And then once he was stable, I started gigging again at least Thursday through Saturday.
- 33:51And but but now I've been able to add some Wednesdays in there, some Sundays.
- 33:55So, I mean, this time next year, I might be looking at double that.
- 33:59It might be 200 something.
- 34:00And when you're that busy, there's never really time to to let the let the vocal cords rest
- 34:06than to be perfect.
- 34:08Right?
- 34:08To be in perfect shape.
- 34:09Because even if you do that Yeah.
- 34:11You could get sick.
- 34:12You could do anything.
- 34:13So I I love the attitude of just like, no, devil.
- 34:16This song's gotta get out, and and I don't care about the perfect setting.
- 34:21It's not about that anyway.
- 34:23It's about getting these songs out there and just doing it.
- 34:27So I love it, man.
- 34:28Everything that it stands for.
- 34:30Thank you.
- 34:30You know, I told you the other day when I when I thought and I'll I'll say it again.
- 34:35The heart that goes into that, you know, it was a little different this time.
- 34:40You think so?
- 34:42And not saying in a bad way because it was live.
- 34:45So the the more emotion is even more there than when you hear it on a recording.
- 34:51Oh, right.
- 34:52Because we didn't play that one live.
- 34:54We just listened to that one.
- 34:55Yes.
- 34:55That's right.
- 34:56Think the emotion, it even brings it more more full circle once you hear it hear you play the
- 35:03song live.
- 35:04Mhmm.
- 35:06Yeah.
- 35:06That's and that's really at the end of the day, it's it's I always just see authenticity
- 35:12authenticity.
- 35:13That's what I'm trying to to preach out there.
- 35:16AJ had a guitar question.
- 35:18He asked, is that a Dave Grohl signature behind you?
- 35:21So it's actually kind of.
- 35:23It is technically, but it's like the Chinese rip off of that one.
- 35:26I bought this guitar just on a on a whim on a trade one time, and I just thought it was kinda
- 35:31pretty.
- 35:31So I threw it up there.
- 35:32I honestly don't even play it that much because it doesn't sound that great.
- 35:35It needs a little work.
- 35:36But, yes, it is the Dave Grohl kind of signature.
- 35:40Yep.
- 35:43I am,
- 35:44where he
- 35:44says, well, authenticity,
- 35:45and I got a Chinese knockout
- 35:46for it.
- 35:50Hey, man.
- 35:50We we play the guitars we can afford, brother.
- 35:53Wow.
- 35:53That's just it too.
- 35:54Yeah.
- 35:54We can't all afford the nineteen sixties Gibsons or anything like that, but, no, it's I
- 35:58I do play it every once in while.
- 36:00It's a good sounding little thing.
- 36:01It's got the coil splits in it.
- 36:02It's kinda cool.
- 36:04Awesome.
- 36:04Recordings a few times.
- 36:07Sweet.
- 36:08Yeah.
- 36:08Very sweet.
- 36:09Oh, man.
- 36:13Yeah.
- 36:14Do we just keep rolling on with the music, guys?
- 36:16I'm really enjoying listening to all the Chase songs.
- 36:19Like I said, I usually I usually catch you on a quick Facebook Live while I'm kinda scrolling
- 36:24around.
- 36:25I give it a share into the Steam Projects group, and and sometimes that's it.
- 36:29You know?
- 36:29We're we're busy guys producing content and always on the move.
- 36:34But, yeah, we I wanna I wanna listen to some more music, Willie.
- 36:38What's what's the next one?
- 36:39We got another we got another recording dialed up?
- 36:43Or Yep.
- 36:44It's center like me.
- 36:46Alright.
- 37:01So.
- 37:01World's gone tight and the story's been cold.
- 37:04Her last leg, she tries to stand.
- 37:07Della runs wild all across the land.
- 37:41And I can't stand.
- 37:44He's the son of man.
- 37:47The prince of peace is shining light in this whole world.
- 37:54Rose from the grave, took the blame and he paid it all.
- 38:01Sitting alone.
- 38:39And alive.
- 38:40Just believe and let the soul be free.
- 38:47They call him the king of kings.
- 38:51The prince of peace to shine a light on this cold world.
- 38:56He's the son of man.
- 38:59Peace in the storm of strength when I can't stand.
- 39:06Rose from
- 39:41Yes, sir, Chase.
- 39:42That gives me some, like, oh, brother, where art thou vibes?
- 39:48Oh, y'all have to unmute yourself, buddy.
- 39:50I can't unmute you.
- 39:50You're good.
- 39:51There we go.
- 39:52Yeah.
- 39:52Yeah.
- 39:53I can kinda see that.
- 39:55I don't know.
- 39:56I kinda got the rocker vibe from it a little bit.
- 39:59I mean
- 40:00It's that drop d thing, I think, that's
- 40:03kinda Well, it's almost like a Tesla or something.
- 40:05Right?
- 40:05Like, one of those old, the acoustic acoustic rock rock bands. Bands.
- 40:08Bands.
- 40:09Yeah.
- 40:10Yeah.
- 40:11Somewhere in between that.
- 40:12And I wanted to throw this comment up here.
- 40:14Oh, let's switch the view back to this now.
- 40:18And Renee Renee said that she loved that you played live on the podcast.
- 40:24And, yeah, I know you you thought you were playing this one live right now.
- 40:28For a second.
- 40:28And then I'm like, oh, gosh.
- 40:29They're playing it.
- 40:30Like, they're playing the recording.
- 40:31I'm like, I'm backing up.
- 40:32Well, you know what?
- 40:33I mean, we got no rules here, man.
- 40:35Do you wanna give us the acoustic version of that too since you're already kinda dialed it
- 40:39up?
- 40:39Let's I let's go, This is for Renee.
- 40:55I know that you've been sold, but the world's growing tired and the story's been told.
- 41:00Her last leg, she tries to stand as Deborah runs wild across her land.
- 41:10People talking about a man with a fire in his eye and a horn in his hands.
- 41:16Gates ahead to four winds blow.
- 41:18There they gather, bring us on.
- 41:25They call him the king of kings.
- 41:29Prince of peace, the shining light on this cold world.
- 41:33He's the
- 41:34son of man.
- 41:37Peace in the storm, the strength when I can't stand.
- 41:43Rose from that grave, took the blame, and he paid it all.
- 41:50For sinners like me.
- 42:01Rise up and claim you'll be safe.
- 42:04Let him in your heart make a brand new start.
- 42:07Resurrection and the life.
- 42:09If you just believe, let your soul be free.
- 42:16Then call him the king of kings, prince of peace to shine a light on this cold world.
- 42:24He's a son of man.
- 42:27He sends the storm astray when I can't stand.
- 42:34Rose from that green, took the flame, paid it all for sinner like me.
- 42:46Oh, sinner like me.
- 43:09Yeah, buddy.
- 43:10Yeah.
- 43:10And you know what?
- 43:11Because I was kinda rocking out with the beat so much there, that I didn't catch all the
- 43:16words.
- 43:16Right?
- 43:17I was kind of in the vibe of the song and having you play it here, you know, because the
- 43:22the mix is different.
- 43:23Right?
- 43:23The guitar is a lot quieter when we have you play here, and and I really focus on that, on
- 43:29the words.
- 43:31I mean, that that's a gospel song.
- 43:32Right?
- 43:33Like, that's that's a church song with a rock, you know, bluegrass feel.
- 43:38And, yeah, what a great tune, man.
- 43:41You're an awesome songwriter, Chase.
- 43:43Thank you.
- 43:45It it just kinda comes not every day, like, I know that some people write songs every day.
- 43:51I'm not blessed in that aspect, but when I do get them, when I they come kinda like in a
- 43:56thought or in a dream or I wake up with something, it it just I grab it and I go with
- 44:02it and I roll with it and it it
- 44:04I'm
- 44:11getting a cough button for boo boo.
- 44:13Don't worry, Chase.
- 44:19Oh, killer stuff, man.
- 44:21I appreciate you just, gunning it out and playing live for us on here.
- 44:26I think it's so cool.
- 44:27I think our fans appreciate it.
- 44:29I I know Renee's appreciating it.
- 44:32Little fun fact about Renee, huge Denny's fan.
- 44:36So throwing that out there, a little inside baseball.
- 44:45Where's she from?
- 44:49Without giving away her address, she's down around where Willie is in Central Missouri.
- 44:53Oh, nice.
- 44:54Have to get down you're gonna have to come down and see us.
- 44:58We got a big festival coming up down that way, May 16.
- 45:04So
- 45:05I think I'm going to actually end up being at the one in September.
- 45:08Okay.
- 45:09Sweet.
- 45:10Yep.
- 45:10Yeah.
- 45:10The one in September is gonna be right in your town.
- 45:13Right, Willie?
- 45:14Yeah.
- 45:14It'll be right here in Salem, Missouri.
- 45:18That's awesome.
- 45:19Oh, that's your squeaky chair too.
- 45:20It that chair puts a lot of work in during the week, doesn't it, Willie?
- 45:24That's right.
- 45:25I love the way
- 45:26it hugs me.
- 45:27Uh-oh.
- 45:29I hear a monkey.
- 45:30She should be in bed.
- 45:34Yes, sir.
- 45:35And he's talking.
- 45:36Yeah.
- 45:37Oh, man.
- 45:38I love when our kids make appearances on here, and it's it's special.
- 45:45Right?
- 45:45Like, we don't we don't shy away from it.
- 45:49I'm gonna just in case he's gotta attack a small child.
- 45:57Alright.
- 45:57I was I was protecting Willie just in case.
- 46:02That's right.
- 46:03That's right, Renee.
- 46:04Willie's boss showed up.
- 46:06Willie's boss.
- 46:07Yeah.
- 46:09See, thanks.
- 46:10My boss.
- 46:11Oh, brother she is, man.
- 46:13If you haven't figured that out yet, then, it's you who has the problem, sir.
- 46:19Hey.
- 46:19Hey.
- 46:20That's what little girls are for.
- 46:22They have daddy be wrapped all around daddy's fingers.
- 46:24Okay?
- 46:25Yep.
- 46:26That's right, man.
- 46:27And that's why we love having her.
- 46:29And exactly what you were talking about earlier, you know, on your guys' episode that,
- 46:33you know, the kids are kinda coming in and out.
- 46:35And, you know, I think some people would wanna, you know, to edit that out.
- 46:40Right?
- 46:40And, like, oh, the podcast has to be perfect.
- 46:43That's not what these things are about.
- 46:45Right?
- 46:45These are about showing people that, like, we are real people.
- 46:49This isn't AI.
- 46:50This isn't a a a studio.
- 46:52This is this is real life.
- 46:54And and sometimes the baby wakes up because she's got a nightmare, and sometimes she just
- 47:00don't wanna go to bed at quarter to ten at night.
- 47:02Right?
- 47:02Like, it's just it's part of our lives.
- 47:05And and, you know, Boo Boo's the younger statesman here, And, you know, he doesn't have
- 47:11kids of his own yet, but he's got dogs.
- 47:13We hear the dogs occasionally in the background, and it's this is real.
- 47:18And that's what the the scene projects and what's you know, especially this show when we
- 47:24do it live.
- 47:24That's what it's all about.
- 47:25And that's why, you know, it it makes it makes it all the better to do it.
- 47:34And you couldn't be more right there, Renee.
- 47:36And it gives us a chance to engage with our fans too.
- 47:39You know?
- 47:40I've never met Renee in person, but she's been a huge, supporter of this show since we kicked
- 47:45it off a few weeks ago.
- 47:47And and it's important for us to be able to share these moments with that fan base.
- 47:52And, you know, a year from now when, there's there's hundreds of people tuning in live and
- 47:59getting to know us and our families, like, that's what's gonna make it special when we go
- 48:04out and start touring with these shows.
- 48:06And our artists go out and tour, and they're landing in these areas where our fans are at.
- 48:10Like, there's there's so much of this dream yet to be realized.
- 48:16And I think I've always had this 30,000 foot view of it and seeing what it could be before
- 48:23it ever gets there that, I was in tears.
- 48:27The first night we shot our first episode of Love Noise, and I got to share my songs with
- 48:32the fellas And just realizing what that was gonna mean for guys like you, Chase, and guys
- 48:39like Dalton Jones and coming on and sharing it, it was just like, man, if they're gonna get
- 48:44this feeling like we're gonna get to do this every week for the rest of our lives, like, oh
- 48:50my goodness.
- 48:51I I can't I can't wait.
- 48:53I can't wait.
- 48:54So man.
- 48:56Yeah.
- 48:56And that's that's what makes it so great about this is because even with the realness, like,
- 49:02you know, with connecting with Bubba, you know, my three year old, and I can say now three
- 49:07because she had a birthday Sunday, but she goes to bed sometimes watching my episodes on
- 49:16replay.
- 49:17So it's like and it's not because I make her.
- 49:21I promise it's not because I make her.
- 49:24But she's like, daddy, I would've wanted to watch your podcast.
- 49:27Or you know?
- 49:28And that's to what I want people to see is that no matter how you feel or where you're at, and
- 49:34that's what I love about Bubba and what he brings to the table is that there's that
- 49:39realness to it that whether you're a struggling parent or struggling with addiction, whatever
- 49:45the struggle is, that, you know, it's okay to not be perfect.
- 49:51It's okay to have, as Renee likes to say, my boss come in.
- 49:56But, you know, and it I'll kinda give my own little shout out to Renee.
- 50:03She's a she's an amazing person.
- 50:05She definitely encourages me when I feel that my back's up against the wall.
- 50:11So it's great having that support on a different level.
- 50:17Yeah.
- 50:17I think you guys have started something really pretty cool here.
- 50:20And it's I didn't get a chance to meet you down at the CMOs, but I remember you accepting your
- 50:26award, Bubba, and I thought that was pretty cool.
- 50:27I was like, I was curious as to, like, oh, I wonder what his podcast network is all about
- 50:31that he got this award and quickly got to realize what it was about as we connected, you
- 50:37know, just weeks later.
- 50:40Yeah.
- 50:40It's about you.
- 50:41You know?
- 50:42It's about you, and it's about all of these artists.
- 50:45And, really, how I kicked off that show and how I kicked off the podcast was I started it in,
- 50:51like, March '24.
- 50:53So I was very fresh, and I knew, I had just joined the Midwest CMO.
- 51:00I had just joined in, like, February.
- 51:02I was releasing my own songs, and I was like, oh, okay.
- 51:05And Brad Morgan shout out to Brad Morgan and his wife Nikki who had just have so much to do,
- 51:10especially with the award show.
- 51:11And they it was so thrilling to see them kinda get the, you know, the recognition this year of
- 51:17all of that hard work that they put in from the organization.
- 51:20But that's was a family.
- 51:22And and before kind of before knowing what it was, like, I knew that when I showed up there
- 51:29for our first award show, not knowing anyone and not really having any time to meet anyone,
- 51:35that I was bringing my microphones.
- 51:36And I was just gonna take up some space during jam night.
- 51:39We were at the gardens in Okoboji, and I just was like, hey.
- 51:44I'm gonna take over this table, and we're gonna sit here.
- 51:47And we had 25 artists fill out a little just a little piece of paper of just like, what's your
- 51:51name?
- 51:52What do you have coming out that I can and it just gave me a little bit to have a five, ten
- 51:56minute conversation.
- 51:57And we all sat down.
- 51:58We did 25 interviews that night, and it was it was right then that I was like, oh, this is
- 52:04what we do now.
- 52:05Right?
- 52:05Like, yeah, I came here as an artist and as a member of of this thing, but I know my place in
- 52:11this now.
- 52:12And and and now I think we've inspired others.
- 52:15You know?
- 52:15Corey Waller and the wicked things got their own podcast now, which is just about them.
- 52:20Like, they're they're such a show to themselves that all they gotta do is and it's called get
- 52:24in the van.
- 52:25And I highly recommend everybody go on YouTube and go check it out.
- 52:29And it's just following them around on tour, man.
- 52:32The these amazing individuals are traveling around the country playing all this music and
- 52:37doing these shows, and now, you know, they were up in Sioux Falls just a few weeks ago.
- 52:42And I get to go on their show now and watch the show that I was at, getting to follow them up
- 52:47to Minnesota where they played the live in festival.
- 52:49And PT's up there.
- 52:50That's a big that's one of his, you know, foundations and big causes that he supports.
- 52:54Shout out to Paul Thomas, the founder and kind of our, you know, our fearless leader of the
- 53:00Midwest CMO.
- 53:01But he inspired me to start so much of what we're doing.
- 53:05Right?
- 53:06The Midwest original music organization.
- 53:08It's not because I I want to be competition with the Midwest CMO.
- 53:12It's because we all could do so much more.
- 53:15Right?
- 53:15Like, our our not all of our networks overlap in that way, and I had so many friends of mine
- 53:21that, were outside of country music that wouldn't necessarily put themselves in that box
- 53:26for one reason or another.
- 53:27And instead of trying to just, like, well, for like, just come into this, come into this.
- 53:32It was like, well, hey.
- 53:33Here's the Midwest Original Music Organization.
- 53:36You have original music.
- 53:37Right?
- 53:38Join this.
- 53:38And we're really trying to focus on the factor, the networking and connection factors, and
- 53:45bringing people into these other worlds.
- 53:48And and just it's already grown so much.
- 53:51Right?
- 53:51And this year, we were on the red carpet and we did 35 interviews this year.
- 53:56Right?
- 53:57And now, I've announced it on our Facebook page and everything, but I'm gonna be at the Josie
- 54:01Music Awards covering their event and in Media Village and and, like, elevating what we're
- 54:06doing and bringing to the table.
- 54:08This weekend, I'll be at the Cinch playoffs Governors Cup covering the rodeo and talking to
- 54:13fans.
- 54:13Like, the opportunities to just go and support other communities continue to come up, and
- 54:20we're so willing.
- 54:21And I think that's kinda what sets the scene projects apart is because, hey.
- 54:25Record.
- 54:25Let's go.
- 54:26Like, I'm here to talk to y'all.
- 54:27I'm here.
- 54:28I like doing these things.
- 54:29So let's talk.
- 54:31And, you know, at this point, we have so much momentum.
- 54:35Right?
- 54:35Like, how could I ever stop doing it?
- 54:38Yeah.
- 54:38And that, you know, you shouldn't.
- 54:40It I can feel it that, you know, you have a passion for it, and it's I can see it working.
- 54:45I can see it in so many different aspects it's working.
- 54:49Renee, once again, with the comment of the night.
- 54:51Appreciate that, Chase.
- 54:52Yeah.
- 54:53She's, we're gonna start sending I'm a start doing a T shirt for, for the the, comment of
- 55:00the night.
- 55:01Renee's already got one coming from the scene projects.
- 55:05DM me your size, Renee, and we'll get a send one down to you because the interaction is
- 55:12great.
- 55:13AJ Dahl says, okay.
- 55:15I'm in.
- 55:15Right on, brother.
- 55:16We we appreciate you, man.
- 55:19New fan, and we're always all about it.
- 55:22We if you play music, you're more than welcome to come in.
- 55:26We'll send you a form you can fill out, get on all the shows.
- 55:29Check out the sceneprojects.com.
- 55:31You can book with Boo Boo and Willie.
- 55:34Our boy, El Pablo, one time was in in the studio with us for a bit.
- 55:38His phone probably died again.
- 55:40We didn't get a chance to feature him in the show, but that's the nature of the beast, man.
- 55:45I'm sure he's watching on the computer and, following along on the show.
- 55:50We got another recording we're gonna play, Willie?
- 55:55Unless he wants to do another one live.
- 55:57Yeah.
- 55:59Hey.
- 55:59Before we get too far in that, I gotta step away quick.
- 56:02I just wanted to let you guys know before I did.
- 56:05Alright.
- 56:05We always have the private chat too, buddy.
- 56:07You can let us know in there.
- 56:08Alright.
- 56:09Appreciate you, boo boo.
- 56:12Why don't we play a recording, and we'll give Chase vocal cords a little bit of a rest.
- 56:16He's got shows this weekend, I'm sure too.
- 56:19We don't know you're gonna blow it out on a Wednesday night, singing for a couple of fools
- 56:23like us, Willie.
- 56:26Speak for yourself.
- 56:27I'm no fool.
- 56:29It's not what your boss said.
- 56:32Jerry.
- 56:33Jerry.
- 56:35Alright.
- 56:36And this is angels above me.
- 56:57River and the road carry me home to the ocean.
- 57:05Friends in my life like the stars in the sky leave the lights on.
- 57:13The river and the road carry me home to the ocean.
- 57:21The angels above me, they sing that they love me alone.
- 57:29So traveling alone so far from home and alone.
- 57:34Alone, all the angels or angels, don't leave me.
- 57:46Just trying to get to her with the love she deserves alone, please.
- 57:53Because I've been playing this guitar laying underneath the stars for you.
- 58:01In the light of the moon, I'll be forever singing tunes for you.
- 58:10When the stars are alive like the colors in your eyes, greens and blues.
- 58:18It's not winter weather.
- 58:20We'll always be together.
- 58:22It's true.
- 58:27Angels above me, they sing that they love me alone.
- 58:34Traveling alone so far from home and alone.
- 58:42All the angels and angels, please don't leave me.
- 59:15And sometimes I feel like my heart's gonna burst at the seams.
- 59:23And sometimes I feel like it's the love that we want, all we need.
- 59:31And Let me be home.
- 59:54I'm feeling like I'm feeling searching for some meaning of it all.
- 1:00:02Because I spend all my days trying to make some sense of it all.
- 1:00:10The oceans and the seas and the wind blown trees are changing.
- 1:00:18Your love for me is all I need to keep believing.
- 1:00:26The angels above me, they sing that they love me alone.
- 1:00:34Just traveling alone so far from home and alone.
- 1:00:42All the angels, angels pleased only me.
- 1:00:51Just running into her with the love she deserves alone, please.
- 1:00:58Lord, please, It's only me.
- 1:01:06It's only me.
- 1:01:14Great song, Chase.
- 1:01:19You're muted again, buddy.
- 1:01:22Whoops.
- 1:01:23Okay.
- 1:01:23Can you hear me now?
- 1:01:24Yeah.
- 1:01:26So, yeah, before we get too far on that one, this is actually the only song on the album
- 1:01:31that's not an original.
- 1:01:33It's actually a cover, and I wasn't originally gonna do that.
- 1:01:36I had a I had a song that it was about three quarters written for my son, and I just
- 1:01:41couldn't seem to find the best way to finish the song.
- 1:01:45It's just I always hit a roadblock with it.
- 1:01:47And and, again, it could be just, you know, just me or maybe it's just feels like it's a
- 1:01:52more of a spiritual attack, but, like, I couldn't finish it.
- 1:01:54And just didn't feel like the right timing.
- 1:01:57So this song that I chose instead for it's gonna be the last song on the album.
- 1:02:04It's actually a cover of a reggae song.
- 1:02:06It's a group called stick figure, and I would have never chose that for a country rock album.
- 1:02:12But what what was special about it is in the hospital when I was singing these songs, I had
- 1:02:18this very same guitar in there singing him these songs.
- 1:02:21And there was a day that I was singing him a bunch of country songs like I do.
- 1:02:25And as he was kinda making faces, my wife was holding him, and he was kinda like almost like
- 1:02:30he didn't like country.
- 1:02:31And I was like, what?
- 1:02:32You know?
- 1:02:33Like, well, that's great because that's all I sing, you know, hardly.
- 1:02:36And so I was like, well, I gotta try something.
- 1:02:38And so I I threw a a reggae song at the wall, what was funny about this one is when I sang
- 1:02:44it, whenever I sang it, it seemed like his oxygen levels rose.
- 1:02:49His heart rate went down.
- 1:02:50Everything just, like, kinda clipped where it should be.
- 1:02:54Like, all of his numbers were just very steady.
- 1:02:57And so I was kinda joked that it was his favorite song.
- 1:03:02And I I, at this point, truly think it was, and I got to sing it at his funeral service.
- 1:03:06And I knew at some point that I was like, I need to record this.
- 1:03:11This is a a special song for him.
- 1:03:17Yeah, man.
- 1:03:17Thanks for sharing that story.
- 1:03:19It makes it that much sweeter.
- 1:03:22And, it doesn't sound like a reggae song.
- 1:03:25No.
- 1:03:25No.
- 1:03:26You still you still, you know, Chase granted it.
- 1:03:30That's right.
- 1:03:31And you made it you, and I don't think any of us would have ever assumed that that was
- 1:03:35somebody else's song whatsoever.
- 1:03:37And I I think it allows you to cross over a little bit into that world now too and to kinda
- 1:03:44put that out into some stick figure groups and to say, hey.
- 1:03:47This is my my take on on the song that they did, and this is why.
- 1:03:51I think that story is gonna resonate with people a lot out there, and it's gonna endear
- 1:03:58people that are big fans of that band, which Stickfury is huge.
- 1:04:01My brother's seen him a couple of times at Red Rocks, and, you know, they're they're big in
- 1:04:06that reggae world right now and only continuing to rise.
- 1:04:10So not that it was ever your intention.
- 1:04:13Right?
- 1:04:13Like, you your your your attachment to it is completely personal.
- 1:04:18And Yeah.
- 1:04:19That's going to just endear you to this other group of fans that may not necessarily ever
- 1:04:25hear your music because most reggae people aren't listening to country music.
- 1:04:30Right?
- 1:04:30So Exactly.
- 1:04:32Awesome.
- 1:04:32You need to, you need to send that to them.
- 1:04:35You need to reach out into their world and make sure that they hear that and they hear that
- 1:04:39story.
- 1:04:40And, I think, I think that's gonna be a special thing.
- 1:04:44And I think it's gonna mean something to them as well to to know what it meant to you and
- 1:04:49your son and just the the entire story and the fact that you were, you know, covering their
- 1:04:55song.
- 1:04:55I think because they're still not so big that they're unreachable.
- 1:05:01Right?
- 1:05:02Right.
- 1:05:02And this is a band that ground their teeth, out on the road and touring and building a fan base
- 1:05:09one, you know, one fan at a time.
- 1:05:11So I think it would really mean a lot to them.
- 1:05:13So if you're not gonna send it to him, I'm sending him this episode.
- 1:05:16No.
- 1:05:18I would encourage you to.
- 1:05:19I I I definitely should reach out.
- 1:05:21So my buddy, Max Hagman, that I play with a lot, and I actually wanna get him in touch with
- 1:05:25you because he needs a little push in the he's so talented, and he's got some original stuff
- 1:05:32that's coming that he has out and that is coming.
- 1:05:34But I need to keep reeling him into it because he definitely needs to be heard.
- 1:05:39And, he knows those guys personally.
- 1:05:41Like, just on a whim, he knows, like, another group called the Elevators who opened up for
- 1:05:47those for StickFigure at one point, they're all good buddies.
- 1:05:49And he's, very deep into that reggae world, and that's that's mostly how I came into it.
- 1:05:54I actually knew stick figure before I met him, but then just happened to be that was a
- 1:05:58connection that we had for the love of that group.
- 1:06:00And, yeah, very, very solid group of guys.
- 1:06:03And and, again, it's just like kinda like what we're all doing here.
- 1:06:06They're just super down to earth.
- 1:06:07They're not they're not crazy famous.
- 1:06:09They're not even if they are, they're they don't let it get to their heads.
- 1:06:13They're all really good people.
- 1:06:17That's incredible.
- 1:06:17Well, yeah, that that collaboration is coming.
- 1:06:20I I think it would be really cool, you know, a year down the road from now that they cut a
- 1:06:26country version of this song with you singing it with them, and and I think a collaboration
- 1:06:31is coming.
- 1:06:32And, the fact that you know, you know, you're one degree of separation from them.
- 1:06:37Right?
- 1:06:37I mean, have you met the guy then or just that Max is friends with him and
- 1:06:43No.
- 1:06:43Just that Max is friends with him.
- 1:06:45And then he's pretty deep in that reggae world with, he's playing actually, he's on tour in
- 1:06:49California right now, with a guy named Brandon Clemente who was another pretty up and coming
- 1:06:56reggae dude as well.
- 1:06:57And they're they just opened for this one festival is called Everwild out in Ohio, and it
- 1:07:03was headlined by Steven and Damian Marley.
- 1:07:06Bob's, like, two kids that are the biggest musicians out of all of them.
- 1:07:11Yeah.
- 1:07:12So a degree of separation between that that I opened up for, quote, unquote, was I playing at
- 1:07:19a place called The Rave in Milwaukee.
- 1:07:22Cool venue.
- 1:07:23I hope it's still open.
- 1:07:24But, we played, like, the sidebar stage, before Damian and the Whalers Mhmm.
- 1:07:31Got up on stage and rocked it out, man.
- 1:07:33So a pretty cool full man, that was so long ago.
- 1:07:38That was so long I wanna say that was, like, 2010 maybe, fifteen years ago.
- 1:07:43Right?
- 1:07:43Long time.
- 1:07:44But, yeah, Very cool.
- 1:07:47It's funny how the world's, it it gets so small, especially in the independent music
- 1:07:53scene, and and it's gonna continue for us as we elevate.
- 1:07:58Right?
- 1:07:58I mean, I'm covering events at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
- 1:08:01We have Kevin Gates tickets we're giving away from Live Nation.
- 1:08:04Right?
- 1:08:04Like, we're already in in that world and have grown so much faster than I think we'd ever
- 1:08:09dreamed.
- 1:08:10Willie's in talks with, amphitheater down by him about coming and starting to interview
- 1:08:14artists for next summer and doing those things.
- 1:08:18And it it's just going to continue to pick up momentum.
- 1:08:21And as your star rises, it it happens a lot faster, I think, than most people realize.
- 1:08:28And that's why I'm still adamant about, like, just get started.
- 1:08:31Like, get moving, and you never know what's going to happen because the media landscape,
- 1:08:36especially right now, is still changing and evolving.
- 1:08:39And if you're willing to go put the work in, there's nothing really that can stop you.
- 1:08:44And I I was very fortunate to kind of, always have this attitude, in life that I'm not
- 1:08:51waiting for someone else to make me famous.
- 1:08:53I'm gonna go do it myself because I don't I I'm not out to be famous anyway.
- 1:08:58I just wanna know a lot of really cool people.
- 1:09:00And I guess if that makes me, you know, famous at the end of the day, famous among friends.
- 1:09:06Right?
- 1:09:06I think a beer has that slogan or something.
- 1:09:10It sounds like a good beer slogan.
- 1:09:11If it's not one yet, it will be after hearing that.
- 1:09:14I probably heard it somewhere.
- 1:09:16I've been around for a long time, Chase.
- 1:09:21No.
- 1:09:21You guys, this is this is a cool experience.
- 1:09:24I can't thank you enough for having me on tonight and just to getting to share a little
- 1:09:29bit of my story, and I just hope that others can continue to do that as well.
- 1:09:32I'm definitely gonna be sending some people your way.
- 1:09:36Send them all, man.
- 1:09:38Send them all, and they can be on everybody's show and to just continue growing this
- 1:09:43community.
- 1:09:44And speaking of the community, all of our fans watching, go to group.thesceneprojects.com.
- 1:09:51You make a profile over there with us, and it's our own little, you know, social media.
- 1:09:57Right?
- 1:09:58And that's where all of our shows we're gonna get a lot more active in there as it continues
- 1:10:02to fill up.
- 1:10:03There's about 40 people in there now.
- 1:10:05But we want our artists to come on into that group, and it allows us to actually have that
- 1:10:10one to one communication.
- 1:10:11Right?
- 1:10:11Because, like, I have 5,000 followers on Facebook, but when I put a post out, maybe,
- 1:10:16like, 500 see it.
- 1:10:19Right?
- 1:10:19And I'm not, working with a huge marketing budget to where I'm gonna pay to broadcast
- 1:10:24every post and give Facebook money to do that.
- 1:10:27So that's really how we, continue to grow and to continue to connect.
- 1:10:33Like, that's that's what it's really about.
- 1:10:36And, Chase, that's what you're doing tonight.
- 1:10:38You know, with us personally and then with the fans that are watching and are watching on the
- 1:10:43replays and everything, like, I think that's what as musicians that we we crave.
- 1:10:48And that's why especially guys like us that play live and that, like, that's our our
- 1:10:53essence, really.
- 1:10:55That that's what we're doing it for.
- 1:10:56We don't care how many people are in the room.
- 1:10:58We're trying to connect with you on that level.
- 1:11:01We're here now, and that's what we're here for.
- 1:11:03And and I think that speaks a lot to your, you know, your spirituality, your your your
- 1:11:09connection with god, and, you know, it it it comes through.
- 1:11:14And I think that's the world needs it right now, especially with what we've seen.
- 1:11:19You know, the the evil in this world is not slowing down.
- 1:11:23If anything, it's elevating.
- 1:11:24And that means that we need to shine even brighter as well and to to be more powerful and
- 1:11:30to be powerful in love.
- 1:11:32So really, just I've had a great time with you, Chase.
- 1:11:35Willie, are there any other songs that we're playing tonight?
- 1:11:39Or
- 1:11:40the best.
- 1:11:40Do everything.
- 1:11:41That's it.
- 1:11:42We do have devil's game recorded that he submitted as well, but he already played it.
- 1:11:49I mean I did.
- 1:11:50We can we can play that one too.
- 1:11:52I mean
- 1:11:53You know what?
- 1:11:54Let's let's close the show with that, Chase.
- 1:11:56I'd love to I'd love to listen to the studio version of that one and to to close it out with
- 1:12:02the recordings, which sound awesome, man.
- 1:12:04You're you're a fantastic musician.
- 1:12:07You're a great singer.
- 1:12:09Don't ever talk yourself out of it.
- 1:12:11Again, I I love that.
- 1:12:13You know, you let it hang, that rawness in your voice.
- 1:12:16It's it's what endears you to fans.
- 1:12:18It's what's endeared you to me here today.
- 1:12:21We, we're tired of auto tune.
- 1:12:23Right?
- 1:12:24We're tired of everything being polished and perfect, and, I think the world is craving the
- 1:12:29cracks in the voice and the strain because it's what, it's what makes you human.
- 1:12:35Right?
- 1:12:35And it it's what shows people, the emotion in that.
- 1:12:39And I think for you, especially, that raw emotion is is is part of who you are and
- 1:12:46especially over the course of this last, you know, this last year and what you have been
- 1:12:51through as a man and what your family have been through, that emotion makes you real.
- 1:12:57And it makes you, it makes you someone that people are gonna wanna spend a lot of time with
- 1:13:03and and your songs and coming to your shows.
- 1:13:06And I think your your arrow was pointed straight up, buddy, and we're so glad to be a
- 1:13:11part of it.
- 1:13:12No.
- 1:13:12Thank you, guys.
- 1:13:13That's that's what I struggled for since the very beginning.
- 1:13:16And so that to have you say that back to me unprompted is very reassuring that it's all
- 1:13:22going it's all going for God, and it's all going for the right reasons.
- 1:13:27Awesome.
- 1:13:28Yeah.
- 1:13:28I think just the rawness, I keep saying that, but even even in your recordings, you can hear
- 1:13:35the rawness you put in every song Mhmm.
- 1:13:37And the passion that drives you.
- 1:13:41You know?
- 1:13:41And that's one thing we talked about on my podcast is staying true to who you are.
- 1:13:46And, you know, the more you grow, that's the the more that pull is gonna pull towards
- 1:13:52people.
- 1:13:55You know, I said this there.
- 1:13:57Just continue to stay true to who you are.
- 1:13:58You have an amazing abilities.
- 1:14:02Thank you.
- 1:14:03No.
- 1:14:03I definitely will.
- 1:14:05Yeah.
- 1:14:06I mean, I feel a lot of, like, the raw emotion in what you say with your songs and, like, your
- 1:14:13words feel powerful almost, you know, with the way that you convey them and how you put them
- 1:14:19into your music.
- 1:14:23No.
- 1:14:23Yeah.
- 1:14:24And and just really does speak to how I wanted this to all start.
- 1:14:28It's and I'm still doing it, and I will, never strive away from that goal.
- 1:14:32I only hope it just keeps getting bigger so that I can promote that to more people.
- 1:14:38I'm happy to hear that, and I hope it all works out that way.
- 1:14:42Thanks.
- 1:14:42You deserve it.
- 1:14:44Thank you.
- 1:14:44Well, thank you guys for being so inspirational and for helping us out.
- 1:14:48And I'd love to keep doing this and keep getting into the other podcasts and sending
- 1:14:53some people your way and just, you know, loving God, loving people.
- 1:14:56That's the biggest thing.
- 1:14:58Awesome.
- 1:14:59Well, since we had heard this song before and we kinda talked about it on the show, Willie, I
- 1:15:04think what I'd like to do is I'll go ahead and play it, and I think we'll kinda just remove
- 1:15:10all of ourselves from the show.
- 1:15:11Chase, before we play the song, give everybody a chance to to go ahead and plug all your
- 1:15:17website and where people can find you out there to make sure that we follow.
- 1:15:21And we're gonna just close it with a song and then run our outro and get out of here if
- 1:15:26that's alright with everybody.
- 1:15:27Sure.
- 1:15:28Yeah.
- 1:15:28So I'm on everything.
- 1:15:30The easiest way to find that is just simply chasegrantmusic.com.
- 1:15:34It's a simple little website where you can go and find all those access to socials, Spotify,
- 1:15:39Apple, all the streaming platforms.
- 1:15:41You can see upcoming shows, things like that.
- 1:15:43You can buy merch on there now because I figured out how to do that and plug all that
- 1:15:48stuff in.
- 1:15:49So it's it's growing little by little.
- 1:15:51Chasegrantmusic.com is the best way to find that.
- 1:15:55Awesome, man.
- 1:15:57Well, thank you so much for being on the show tonight.
- 1:16:00Thank you for being part of the scene, and we're gonna keep following your career, man.
- 1:16:05And anytime you got new music, you're welcome to come back on all the shows and, update us.
- 1:16:11And as always, I mean, you're like a brother at this point, Chase, and I can't wait to catch up
- 1:16:18to you in person.
- 1:16:20I know we're gonna have Midwest CMO award shows, but I I hope I get to catch you before
- 1:16:25that.
- 1:16:26Maybe I'll look you up.
- 1:16:27I I got plans to come up to the Minnesota at some point in November.
- 1:16:31So, hopefully, I can come and catch a Chase Grant show.
- 1:16:35That sounds great.
- 1:16:35I'd love to.
- 1:16:36I can't wait to meet you, buddy, and connect with you more on an even deeper level.
- 1:16:41I mean
- 1:16:45Thank you, Renee.
- 1:16:46I appreciate you.
- 1:16:47It was nice.
- 1:16:47Thank you for being so active in the chat and hanging out with us.
- 1:16:51Yep.
- 1:16:51AJ got in there one more time too.
- 1:16:54So Thank
- 1:16:54you, AJ.
- 1:16:58Yeah.
- 1:16:59I mean, I hope I get to see you live one day and meet you, Chase.
- 1:17:03You're doing great things here, and everything you've done is, like from what I've heard and
- 1:17:09especially with the stuff that I got to hear for the first time tonight, you are definitely
- 1:17:13going places.
- 1:17:16Thank you.
- 1:17:17I I I'm feeling that, but I'm trying to stay humble with it and just always just point it
- 1:17:22back to god.
- 1:17:22And I think that if I do that, I can't lose no matter how big or small it stays or becomes.
- 1:17:29Just getting to kinda live out my dream.
- 1:17:31So anybody that thinks that they can't do that is dead wrong.
- 1:17:34They can definitely chase whatever they wanna go after.
- 1:17:38That was still
- 1:17:39that problem.
- 1:17:39Absolutely right.
- 1:17:41Yeah.
- 1:17:42It seems so cliche, but it's so real.
- 1:17:44Like, I I wish I would have believed it sooner, to be honest.
- 1:17:47But now it's got a timing, and right now is that time.
- 1:17:50It wasn't it wasn't two years ago.
- 1:17:51It's now.
- 1:17:54And you send all them and you send all them artists your our way you want.
- 1:17:58We will help them as much as we can.
- 1:18:00That is Well, no.
- 1:18:01This all good.
- 1:18:02Be part of it.
- 1:18:03They they, definitely have some stuff to say too.
- 1:18:05And, yeah, I can think of at least three or four just off the top of my head, and it'll
- 1:18:09probably grow as I sit and think about it more.
- 1:18:12But yep.
- 1:18:13We'll build a big community, boys.
- 1:18:16Let's do it.
- 1:18:17Alright, Willie.
- 1:18:18Roll that.
- 1:18:19Everybody that tuned in tonight on on my Facebook, on Facebook, on YouTube, Twitch, we
- 1:18:25love you guys so much.

- 1:18:44Boo Boo has beyond the bell right now, which has kinda become, his baby, on the scene
- 1:18:50project sports network.
- 1:18:51He's been interviewing a bunch of pro wrestlers, so that's turned out, really cool.
- 1:18:56Obviously, I'm everywhere doing everything, and I'm just so grateful for for Chase Grant
- 1:19:03tonight and sharing his story and sharing these songs, man.
- 1:19:06So, Willie, go ahead and play us out, brother.
- 1:19:38No pleasure, pain.
- 1:19:41It's a clouded mind, oh lord, I feel so ashamed.
- 1:19:45I'm caught in the storm, yeah, my mind's in awe.
- 1:19:49There's been days I couldn't make it out the door.
- 1:19:53I'll be damned if I let it define me.
- 1:19:58I let the words set me free.
- 1:20:01The devil places games around me.
- 1:20:05He can't have my life anymore that I spent searching for help that I needed.
- 1:21:08My foolish pride was too stubborn to receive.
- 1:21:12I was trying to strike a balance in my heart and my hair.
- 1:21:17The silence of death has been so constantly fed because my whole life I stepped up to the
- 1:21:24plane, striking up before I could swing.
- 1:21:28The devil plays his games around me, Was trying to find myself again, the songs that The devil
- 1:22:41plays his games around me, but he can't have my life anymore.
- 1:22:49Because I've gone around for around trying to do this on my own.
- 1:22:55Say I'm fine, but I'm living a lie.
- 1:23:11Just trying to find myself again.
- 1:23:15The songs that are right.
