- 0:00Speaker 1: Time.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Now we're back to the basics in healthcare with balanced
- 0:02Speaker 2: Life Chiropractic and we're here with doctor Harley and I
- 0:04Speaker 2: bet I know what we're going to talk about today.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Well, we are on week seven of doing this series
- 0:09Speaker 1: seven seas or C Seven's what we're going to talk
- 0:11Speaker 1: about today seven.
- 0:14Speaker 2: So now this is the last of the seas and
- 0:16Speaker 2: then we get into the t's. So let's tease the
- 0:19Speaker 2: tea's a little bit here. What's the difference between the
- 0:21Speaker 2: seas and the.
- 0:22Speaker 1: T's area of the spine, so just low.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We're lower, But do you know why they divided it?
- 0:27Speaker 2: There is there a specific thing like this is the
- 0:29Speaker 2: upper back and the lower back?
- 0:30Speaker 1: Is it? Well, when you look at the curvature of
- 0:32Speaker 1: the spine, the neck is kind of more of a
- 0:36Speaker 1: C shaped curve or a banana shaped curve, and that's
- 0:38Speaker 1: what hold their head up. The thoracic spine or the
- 0:41Speaker 1: T spine is curve the other direction, so that's what
- 0:44Speaker 1: gives us, you know, the mobility to lean forward. So
- 0:47Speaker 1: that's really kind of the biggest difference in them is
- 0:49Speaker 1: where they're located, what their mobility movement is, the shape
- 0:53Speaker 1: of them are different because of the different types of mobility.
- 0:57Speaker 1: So on our neck we have a lot of range
- 0:58Speaker 1: of motion. The thoracic spine we do have quite a
- 1:02Speaker 1: bit range of motion, but just not quite as much,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and then we get more rotation and our lumbar spine.
- 1:09Speaker 2: So the te stands for thoracic Yes, So is there
- 1:12Speaker 2: a thoracic park. No, probably not.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I do know a lot of chiropractors that use that
- 1:18Speaker 1: as like a Jurassic Park theme. They call it Welcome
- 1:21Speaker 1: to Thoracic min I'm.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Just saying we need to make money. So let's talk
- 1:25Speaker 2: were again. That was a little teas for the teas,
- 1:27Speaker 2: but we're gonna get back to the seas now.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Seven C.
- 1:29Speaker 2: We don't want to leave seven C or C seven
- 1:31Speaker 2: alone because this one's important too.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Isn't it Right. It's at the very base of our neck,
- 1:35Speaker 1: so it does take a lot of the brunt of
- 1:37Speaker 1: all of our headweight neck weight, and that's a big
- 1:41Speaker 1: motion area again because that's the right at the base
- 1:44Speaker 1: of our neck, at the top of our upper back.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So if you were to feel behind your neck and
- 1:49Speaker 1: you feel kind of a bomb right at the top
- 1:50Speaker 1: of your shoulders, that's gonna be right where.
- 1:52Speaker 2: C seven is okay, and I see over here that
- 1:55Speaker 2: that can be one of the contributing factors for like colds.
- 1:59Speaker 1: So we have like thig bursas and the shoulders or
- 2:01Speaker 1: just shoulders kind of in general, we get more into
- 2:03Speaker 1: the elbows, we see more births. Siitis type issues can
- 2:07Speaker 1: be effected with C seven mis alignment. Our thyroid thymus
- 2:11Speaker 1: is a big part of our Our thyroid and our
- 2:15Speaker 1: thymis are a big part of our immune system. So
- 2:18Speaker 1: that's where we can see it related to colds as
- 2:21Speaker 1: well as like sore throats, that kind of stuff.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I skipped this word because I didn't know what
- 2:26Speaker 2: bursiitis was. I don't know how to say it, but
- 2:28Speaker 2: I heard you say it, So what the heck is burth'siitis?
- 2:30Speaker 1: So burst side bursa our little fluid filled sacks in
- 2:35Speaker 1: a lot of our joint spaces where the bony parts
- 2:38Speaker 1: of our joints would be kind of pushing on top
- 2:39Speaker 1: of each other or there's a lot of movement through there,
- 2:41Speaker 1: so it's kind of like extra cushion in the joint space.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Nice, very nice. So again C seven, we're at the
- 2:48Speaker 2: very base of the neck and again it's last but
- 2:51Speaker 2: not least. This is probably a pretty important thing, isn't
- 2:54Speaker 2: it right.
- 2:54Speaker 1: There's a couple of different sections in our spine along
- 2:57Speaker 1: the way they're like, oy, this is a really important spot.
- 2:59Speaker 1: We talked about one and two. Our neck. C. Seven's
- 3:02Speaker 1: another one of those, just because we have the top
- 3:04Speaker 1: and the bottom part of our neck. It's a big
- 3:05Speaker 1: transition zone between the neck and the upper back. So
- 3:10Speaker 1: this one is also where we have a lot of
- 3:12Speaker 1: connection points with ligaments and tendons in our neck. So
- 3:15Speaker 1: when we lift our head back, a lot of those
- 3:18Speaker 1: muscles and tendons are connected to the base of C. Seven.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So it's a little bit longer, a little bit bigger
- 3:24Speaker 1: than some of the other neck bones because it does
- 3:27Speaker 1: play a bigger part in muscle movement.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So if somebody is experiencing like this time of year
- 3:32Speaker 2: is summer cold, I guess in the regular part of
- 3:34Speaker 2: the year, just be a cold. This I see, since
- 3:37Speaker 2: it's connected to colds, this could actually be something that
- 3:39Speaker 2: you could adjust to maybe help that move along a
- 3:41Speaker 2: look quicker.
- 3:42Speaker 1: We've talked a lot of just adjusting our nervous system
- 3:44Speaker 1: in general, and our spine really does help with our
- 3:46Speaker 1: building our immune system and helping get over cold and
- 3:49Speaker 1: flues much much faster.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Another way to get rid of that cold is just
- 3:53Speaker 2: give it to your wife. That's what I did. I
- 3:55Speaker 2: had a cold last week. Now Heidi has a cold,
- 3:57Speaker 2: so she complains, I don't give her anything.
- 3:59Speaker 1: So there you go. I got it.
- 4:01Speaker 2: If somebody listening is going, hey, I really do have
- 4:04Speaker 2: some issues that maybe could be connected to C seven.
- 4:07Speaker 2: If they come in and talk to you, they don't
- 4:08Speaker 2: have to necessarily mention where the issue is, but if
- 4:11Speaker 2: they talk to you about it, you can kind of
- 4:12Speaker 2: help them figure it out and hopefully put a plan
- 4:14Speaker 2: together to solve that problem for them, right for sure.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And then that's you know, just sending on talking with us.
- 4:19Speaker 1: As we're going through this series, people might realize, like
- 4:21Speaker 1: I didn't realize chiropractic could help with something like this
- 4:24Speaker 1: or this specific because there are a lot of different
- 4:26Speaker 1: things that we don't necessarily relate to our spine, but
- 4:30Speaker 1: all those nerves are important, so you don't have to
- 4:32Speaker 1: know exactly what's going on with you where it's going on.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's kind of my job is to put all the
- 4:36Speaker 1: pieces of the puzzle together and figure Okay, what's going
- 4:38Speaker 1: on and what are we going to be able to
- 4:40Speaker 1: do to help you live your best and healthiest life.
- 4:42Speaker 2: And I love that we're going through this and kind
- 4:44Speaker 2: of sharing a little bit of it with us. Again,
- 4:46Speaker 2: we can't tell everything because that would take you took
- 4:48Speaker 2: years of training, but to go through in a five
- 4:51Speaker 2: minute radio program and podcast, I think it's kind of
- 4:54Speaker 2: fun to kind of let us peak behind the curtain.
- 4:56Speaker 2: If somebody listening is going, hey, I would like to
- 4:58Speaker 2: come in and maybe have an adjust meant or find
- 5:00Speaker 2: out if chiropractic is right for me. What is the
- 5:02Speaker 2: best way to connect with you?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Well, you got to get a new patient appointment schedule,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and the best and easiest way to do that is
- 5:07Speaker 1: give us a call. Our phone number is six year
- 5:09Speaker 1: O five two one five one seven eight five. You
- 5:11Speaker 1: can also reach out to us on our Facebook page
