- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So we've been talking about creativity all week long and one
- 0:34thing that I really want to address today is the fear of
- 0:38being wrong. So I had somebody message me
- 0:41after listening to the first couple days and they said, hey,
- 0:45I'm concerned every time I go to do something creative that I'm
- 0:48going to do it wrong and then I'm going to have to deal and
- 0:52feel in the failure deal and feel in the failure.
- 0:55I thought that was such an interesting way to say it,
- 0:58meaning not only that they have to think about it, they had to
- 1:01feel it all day that they had made errors and that those
- 1:04errors were going to stick with them.
- 1:06Well, the first thing I want to tell you is the biggest enemy of
- 1:10creativity is logic. OK, so you're using your logical
- 1:14mind. When that shows up for you, your
- 1:17logical mind is saying you've wasted time, You've done this,
- 1:21you've done that, and you have to remember that you've wasted
- 1:24money. All of these things.
- 1:27Well, that's all a crock of crap and it's not true because you
- 1:32have learned in the process. Whether you believe that you
- 1:35haven't learned or not, trust me, you've learned.
- 1:38You just maybe haven't sat out of the negative emotions to see
- 1:42what have I learned. You know, two years ago I took a
- 1:47coaching course for myself personally and it was a very
- 1:51expensive course and it it was supposed to be something very
- 1:56different, six months long. It was going to help me get
- 2:00clear on some messaging that I wanted.
- 2:02It was a very small group of people I was going to be working
- 2:04with and I had known the person who was teaching it.
- 2:08So I thought, OK, this is going to be good.
- 2:10And it turned out to be nothing of what I thought.
- 2:13It turned out to be the absolute opposite of it.
- 2:15Now, in the process of going through it, did I get
- 2:18aggravated? Yes, I got aggravated.
- 2:20I promise you. I got aggravated because I'm
- 2:23human and I also grew up in Massachusetts.
- 2:25So getting aggravated is a thing.
- 2:28I say that to all my my friendly Massachusetts people that
- 2:33listen, but you know what I mean?
- 2:35So I had to deal with that and I kept bringing myself back,
- 2:39bringing myself back, bringing myself back and saying, OK, what
- 2:43and what am I learning? What am I learning?
- 2:45And then I'd hear myself go, You're aggravated that they
- 2:48didn't deliver. Yes.
- 2:49And all of that was true. It was true.
- 2:52But I had to remember that I was there for a creative stint.
- 2:57I was there to go on a trip into a possibility that I didn't know
- 3:04yet. I was looking for something
- 3:05different. And I had to reckon with the
- 3:09fact that I was dealing with the fact that I was kept thinking I
- 3:13was wrong for doing the class. And I kept thinking, Oh my gosh,
- 3:16I shouldn't have done this. This was so much money.
- 3:19Why did I do this? That was going on in the back of
- 3:21my head. It wasn't the bus driver, but it
- 3:23was probably like four seats back, if that makes sense.
- 3:26And I kept hearing it and I had to deal with it.
- 3:28So as the class comes to a conclusion, I'm more as, as our
- 3:35friend, you know, has said many times to me that I, I get
- 3:41clearer when I have that deadline.
- 3:43And sometimes that's true. I do, I get clearer when I have
- 3:46the deadline 'cause I know I, I'm, I just can't be on this
- 3:49walkabout forever. So as the class is coming to a
- 3:52conclusion, I recognize that what I can take away as a huge
- 3:58gift is that I know what I don't want.
- 4:01I didn't know what I wanted, but I knew what I didn't want
- 4:03anymore. And I sat and I wrote down all
- 4:05the things that I did not want that I learned in the class.
- 4:09And lo and behold, by doing that, it gave me a very clear
- 4:13map to what I do want. Now, I do this with clients all
- 4:16the time, but thinking of doing it for myself, that was out of
- 4:19the ordinary. I, I just didn't think that
- 4:22that's what was going to happen with this class.
- 4:23So I wasn't executing in that way.
- 4:26So I said to myself, I've been in my logical mind so much, I
- 4:30forgot that that logic mind can be the enemy of the creativity.
- 4:35And I was looking for the conclusion and I had a fear of
- 4:39being wrong about it. So blending all of that
- 4:42knowledge in gave me permission to say, OK, you know what, Guess
- 4:47what? You know what you don't want
- 4:48now, and that's a good thing. When you know what you don't
- 4:51want, you can start the elimination process.
- 4:53You can start by gathering more pertinent information to move
- 4:57you forward in the growth process.
- 5:00And that's exactly what ended up happening.
- 5:02And then lo and behold, I was able to get the messaging clear,
- 5:05get the people in line, do everything that we needed to do,
- 5:08and it was done. So I want you all to remember,
- 5:12it's not just you that gets stuck in this process.
- 5:15It's all of us. It's me too.
- 5:17It happens every single time. I promise you, every time I go
- 5:21into creative Zone, I have to make sure I understand what
- 5:24logic is doing because if logic is present and too much of it is
- 5:28showing up, it will kill my creative zone.
- 5:31So keep that in mind. Do not allow yourself to have
- 5:34excuses, lose your fear of being wrong, and just go with the
- 5:38flow. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:40you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:42Bye.
