- 0:01Hey, y'all, welcome to Dave's show today. We were going to get
- 0:04into what the Bible says about the sacraments. You know, our Lord said
- 0:09repeatedly that mere belief in him was not all they asked. He said that
- 0:15we must keep his commandments. We must do what he said. That means
- 0:19Christians are obligated to pay part in the sacraments. When he says you must
- 0:23be baptized, when he says you must eat my body and drink my blood,
- 0:30when he says, you know, marriage is a sacrament that's not to
- 0:34be violated. When he told his apostles to forgive sins, and those who
- 0:40sends you attain, they're attained. Those who sends you forgive, they're forgiven.
- 0:44I said it backwards, but you know what I mean. We are
- 0:47obligated, obligated to partaking the sacraments if we believe Jesus to be God and
- 0:56we believe the words of the Bible. And if we can't believe the words
- 0:59of the Bible, we have really no foundation of knowing what Jesus taught other
- 1:03than Catholic tradition, which was taught by the apostles verbally. So you can't
- 1:08have it both ways. You can't say the Bible alone and no sacraments,
- 1:12because the Bible says take part in the sacraments. And if you invalidate the
- 1:17Bible, all you have left is here the Catholic Church, or nothing,
- 1:21nothing at all. In Matthew twenty one, Jesus said, it is not
- 1:26anyone who says to me, Lord Lord, who will enter the Kingdom of
- 1:30Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven.
- 1:34When the day comes, many will say to me, Lord Lord, did
- 1:38we not prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and
- 1:42work many miracles in your name? Then I shall say, then I shall
- 1:46tell them to their faces, I have never known you. Away from me,
- 1:49all evil doers. Therefore, anyone who listens to these words of mine
- 1:53and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on
- 1:57a rock. Rain came down, flood rose gales blue and hurled themselves against
- 2:01that house, and it did not fall. It was founded on rock.
- 2:07But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them,
- 2:09will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. Rain
- 2:14came down, floods rose gales blue and struck that house and it fell,
- 2:17and what a fall it had. Now we know that Jesus said to Peter,
- 2:23you are the rock. Thou art Cephas actually is the original Petra in
- 2:31Latin petros. I guess anyway, it doesn't matter. He said to Peter,
- 2:37you are the rock, and upon this rock I build my church.
- 2:39Here he's saying that those who do what he says, what the Father told
- 2:46him, and what he tells them, will have faith built on a rock.
- 2:52It's not not a coincidence that he's using those same words. When you
- 2:58leave the Catholic Church and leave the sacraments, you can believe in Jesus.
- 3:02You can love Jesus, and Jesus will love you because he loves God loves
- 3:06all his children. Right, but you don't have you're not following his commandments.
- 3:12And yes, many many say, did we not prophesy in your name
- 3:16and drive out demons in your name? And work many miracles in your name?
- 3:21And he said, you know, if you love me, you would
- 3:23keep my commandments. People are going to have to figure that out, and
- 3:29thank God for purgatory, because they're not held accountable for what they don't understands
- 3:35it would be. It's a great consolation for a Catholic to know there is
- 3:38purgatory, And if only Protestants knew that and did not make such presumptions.
- 3:46Presumption is a sin against the Holy Spirit. Presumption is something they're going to
- 3:53have to work out in purgatory. I guess Luke's forty six through forty nine.
- 4:01Why do you call me lord lord and not do what I say?
- 4:03Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and acts on them,
- 4:08I will show you what such a person is like. Such a person's like
- 4:11the man who, when he built a house, dug and dug deep,
- 4:14and laid the foundations on rock. But when the river was in flood it
- 4:18bore down on that house, but could not shake it. It was so
- 4:20well built. But someone who listens and does nothing is like the man who
- 4:25built a house on soil with no foundation. As soon as the river bore
- 4:28down on it, it collapsed, and what a ruined that house became same
- 4:31meaning it's the previous passage John twelve forty seven through fifty. Anyone who hears
- 4:38my words but and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who
- 4:42shall judge such a person. Since I have not come to judge the world,
- 4:45but to save the world. Anyone who rejects me and refuses my word
- 4:48has his judge already. The word itself that I have spoken, will be
- 4:53his judge on the last day. For I have not spoken of my own
- 4:57accord, but the Father who sent me and commanded me what to say and
- 5:00what to speak. And I know that this is that his commandment means eternal
- 5:04life. And therefore what the Father has told me is what I speak.
- 5:10So you know, when King Henry, the Eighth found of the Anglican Church
- 5:14based on divorce, which Jesus expressly condemned in all four Gospels, was he
- 5:21hearing the words of Jesus and keeping them faithfully? Was is it a valid
- 5:25church? I don't think so. I don't think so at all. I
- 5:30think it was absolute apostasy and heresy. And I really think the Anglican Church
- 5:36has been one of the greatest sources of evil in this world since it was
- 5:41founded. When you know, the core unit of Christianity is the family,
- 5:47and they began to tear apart the family by normalizing divorce. That's evil,
- 5:55that's the work of the devil. That's not the work of God. John
- 5:59fourteen fifteen through twenty four. If you love me, you will keep my
- 6:00commandments. Whoever holds my commandments and keeps him as the one who loves me,
- 6:04and whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I shall
- 6:08love him and reveal myself to him. We'll see, says Judas, not
- 6:13Judas Iscariot. Saint Jude basically said to him, Lord, what has happened
- 6:17that you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world. Jesus
- 6:20replied, anyone who loves me will keep my word, and my Father will
- 6:25love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.
- 6:28Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the
- 6:31words that you hear, the word that you hear is not my own.
- 6:34It is the word of the Father who sent me. The apostles continue to
- 6:39teach the same Hebrews three thirteen through fourteen every day, as long as this
- 6:44last, keep encouraging one another, so that none of you is hardened by
- 6:47the lure of sin, because we have been granted to share with Christ only
- 6:51if we keep the grasp of our first confidence firm until the end unchanging.
- 6:58You don't just go star another church with another doctrine and doesn't work that way.
- 7:02James one, twelve fourteen through sixteen. Blessed is anyone who perseveres when
- 7:08trials come. Such a person is proven as a proven worth and will win
- 7:13the prize of life, the crown that the Lord has promised to those who
- 7:15love him. Everyone is put to the test by being attracted and seduced by
- 7:19that person's own wrong desire. Then the desire conceives and gives birth to sin,
- 7:24and when sin reaches full growth, it gives birth to death. Make
- 7:27no mistake about this, my dear brothers, Second Peter, Chapter two,
- 7:32nineteen through twenty two. They may promise freedom, but they are themselves slaves
- 7:38to corruption, because if anyone lets himself be dominated by anything, he is
- 7:42a slave to it. Anyone who has escaped the pollution of the world by
- 7:45coming to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and who then allows himself
- 7:48to be entangled and mastered by it a second time, ends up being worse
- 7:53than he was before. It would have been better for him never to have
- 7:56learnt the way of uprightness than to have learned it learned it, he used
- 8:01it due to two tenses here and then desert the holy commandment that was entrusted
- 8:05to him. What they have done is exactly as the proverb Brightley says,
- 8:09the dog goes back to its vomit, and as soon as the sow has
- 8:13been washed at walls in the mud. So today we have many, many
- 8:18Protestant churches that refuse to believe in baptism, in the necessity of baptism.
- 8:24They say it is merely symbolic and not necessary. Why did the Bible say,
- 8:30Well, Matthew eighteen through twenty, Jesus said, Jesus came up and
- 8:33spoke to them. He said, all authority in heaven and earth has been
- 8:37given to me. Therefore go make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in
- 8:41the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach
- 8:45them to observe all the commandments I gave you. And look and with you
- 8:48always yes to the end of time. How could Jesus be with his apostles
- 8:54till the end of time? Were they're not apostolic succession. He gave the
- 8:58apostles the bility to bind and loose. They made bishops and priests who followed
- 9:03them generation to generation, from Saint Peter to the Vatican today to the Holy
- 9:11Catholic Church today, in unbroken succession. That is how Jesus is with his
- 9:16church until the end of time. It is a shining city set upon a
- 9:20hill, visible to all ages until he comes again. He said, specifically,
- 9:24here baptized them in the name of the Father and the Son of the
- 9:26Holy Spirit. Just a few weeks ago, I was on Twitter and a
- 9:31Protestant said, you won't find anywhere in the Bible where it mentions the Trinity.
- 9:35And I said, maybe you ought to read that Bible. Here's Matthew
- 9:39twenty eighteen through twenty. See, his minister had never taught on that passage
- 9:45because probably because it tells the necessity of baptism and actually apostolic succession. If
- 9:52you think about it, you got to use a little logic. You got
- 9:56to you know, be a linear thinker. You can't just take random passages
- 10:01and run with him. That's really where a lot of error comes to.
- 10:05I mean, I have been in so many churches where a minister will get
- 10:07up and he will preach for over a half hour, forty five minutes on
- 10:11one sentence completely out of context, and in the end he ends up teaching
- 10:16something that is completely not biblical and not sound doctrine. I could give him
- 10:26any examples, but well, I mean, a very a Baptist minister from
- 10:31him, I have a lot of respect preach the whole sermon on once Saved,
- 10:35always saved, right because Jesus said to I get the example. It
- 10:39is the thief on the cross, he will be with me this day in
- 10:43heaven. No, it was absent from the body present with the Lord.
- 10:46He spent almost an hour preaching against the existence of purgatory, simply because Jesus
- 10:52told the thief today you will be with me in the Kingdom of Heaven,
- 10:56not once. Of course, he didn't have the Book of Acabees that's been
- 11:00stripped from the Protestant Bible, or it says it instructs us to pray for
- 11:03the dead. And Jesus, of course was God. I mean he could
- 11:07change the rules because he's the rule maker. I mean, he could say
- 11:13to that man, your sins are totally forgiven. It doesn't mean it applies
- 11:16to every single person. Jesus also said, you know that you would be
- 11:24wailing and gnashing of teeth in a place of suffering, and you wouldn't get
- 11:26out until you'd paid every penny. Those are two different passages, but you
- 11:31know the existence of purgatory in the story of Lazarus and the rich Man.
- 11:37We'll get into that later. But the story of Lazarus and the rich Man,
- 11:41Lazarus is in a place of suffering, but he can see Abraham,
- 11:46I mean the rich Man. I'm sorry. The rich man is in a
- 11:48place of suffering, but he can see Abraham and Lazarus and he's talking to
- 11:52them. Therefore, he could not be in hell, because hell is a
- 11:56place without God and without any holiness. The souls are internally, entirely turned
- 12:01in on themselves. He was in a place of purgation. Well, we'll
- 12:07get into that another day. Mark sixteen sixteen. Whoever believes and it's baptized
- 12:13will be saved. Whoever does not believe will be conduct You have to both
- 12:18believe and be baptized. You can't just have a symbolic baptism. Jesus spoke
- 12:24of being born again as believing and being baptized. Protestants commit a grave error
- 12:28when they teach otherwise. But I say, have you been born again.
- 12:31You should say, yes, I've been born again. I'm baptized, confirmed
- 12:35and confirmed into the Catholic Church, and I eat the body and blood of
- 12:39Jesus Christ and am filled with his grace for that very reason, because I
- 12:45do what he said. You do the opposite. You do what your preacher
- 12:48says, you do what he was taught. You don't do what Jesus said.
- 12:54John three five. Jesus replied, in all truth, I tell you,
- 12:58no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born through water and
- 13:01the spirit. No one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born through
- 13:09water and the Spirit. Acts two thirty seven through forty one. Hearing this,
- 13:13they were cut to the heart, and Peter said to the other apostles,
- 13:16what are we to do? Brothers, you must repent, Peter answered,
- 13:20and every one of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
- 13:22for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the
- 13:26Holy Spirit. The promise that was made is for you and your children,
- 13:30and for all of those who are far away, for all those whom the
- 13:33Lord our God is calling to himself. He spoke to them for a long
- 13:37time, using many other arguments, and he urged him, save yourself from
- 13:41this perverse generation. They accepted what he said, and we're baptized that very
- 13:46day. About three thousand were added to their number. That's after Pentecost,
- 13:50when this spirit came upon the Apostles, and they went and told the Jews,
- 13:56you just killed God, you just killed the Messiah. And they repented
- 14:01and were baptized. They had to be baptized, And one of the most
- 14:09interesting chapters that really refutes the Protestant idea that the Bible owners the sole authority
- 14:18and anyone who can read it will be guided into full understanding by the Holy
- 14:20Spirit. Of course, if that were true, there wouldn't be fifty thousand
- 14:24denominations, each of which that disagrees with the other, because there's only one
- 14:28truth. Well, Act six twenty six through forty, the Angel of the
- 14:33Lord spoke to Philip, saying, set out at noon and go along the
- 14:35road that leads from Jerusalem down to Gaza, the desert road. So he
- 14:39set off on his journey. Now, an Ethiopian had been on pilgrimage to
- 14:43Jerusalem. He was in Unich and an officer at the court of the I
- 14:46don't know. Can Dake Kentocky I don't know, or Queen of Ethiopia he
- 14:52was her chief treasurer. He was now on his way home, and as
- 14:56he said, in the chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah. The
- 15:00Spirit said to Philip, go up and join the chariot. When Philip ran
- 15:03up, he heard him reading Isaiah the Prophet and ask do you understand what
- 15:07you're reading? He replied, how can I unless someone, unless I have
- 15:11someone to guide me. So he urged Philip to get in and sit by
- 15:13his side. Now that the passage of scripture he was reading was this,
- 15:18like a lamb led to his slaughterhouse, like a sheep dumb in front of
- 15:20its shearers. He never opens his mouth, and his humiliations, fair judgment
- 15:26was denied him. Who will ever talk about his descendants? Since his life
- 15:30on earth has been cut short? The Unuch addressed Philip and said, tell
- 15:33me, is this prophet referring to himself or someone else? Starting therefore with
- 15:37his tasks of scripture, Philip proceeded to explain the good news of Jesus to
- 15:41him. Further along the road that came to some water and the eunuch said,
- 15:45look, there is some water. Is there anything to prevent me from
- 15:48being baptized? He or the chariot stopped. Then Philip and the eunuch both
- 15:52went down to the water and he was baptized. But after he had come
- 15:54up out of the water, Philip was taken away by the spirit of the
- 15:58Lord, and the unuch never saw him again, but went on his way
- 16:02of rejoicing. Philip appeared in Azotus and continued on his journey, proclaiming the
- 16:07good news in every town as far as cesarea. Not only did he have
- 16:11to be baptized, he needed someone with apostolic authority to explain the scriptures to
- 16:18him. You see, had the Jews understood the scriptures, they would have
- 16:23recognized Jesus system Messiah. Everyone needs that safeguard, that guarantee. Without the
- 16:33authority given to the apostles to teach, which we talked about so much last
- 16:37week, with authority, you know, guaranteed to be prevented from error.
- 16:41You can't believe the Bible, and you can't understand the Bible, assuming you
- 16:45have a good translation of the Bible Acts ten forty three forty eight. Yet
- 16:52on the third Day, God raised himself to life and allowed him to be
- 16:55seen not by the whole people, but only certain witnesses that God had chosen
- 16:59beforehand. Now we are those witnesses. We have eaten and drunk with him
- 17:02after his resurrection from the dead, and he has orders to proclaim to his
- 17:06people and to bear witness that God has appointed him to judge everyone alive or
- 17:10dead. Jewish believers who had accompanied Peter were all astonished that the gift of
- 17:15the Holy Spirit should be poured out on gentiles too, So say, could
- 17:18hear them speaking and strange languages and proclaiming the greatness of God. Peter himself
- 17:22then said, can anyone refuse the water of baptism to these people? Now
- 17:27that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we have. He then gave
- 17:30orders to them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterwards,
- 17:34they begged him to stay for some days Acts sixteen thirty three. He called
- 17:41for lights. Then he rushed in, threw himself at the feet of Paul
- 17:45and Silas, and escorted them out, saying, sirs, what must I
- 17:48do to be saved? They told him, become a believer in the Lord
- 17:52Jesus and you will be saved, and your household too. They then preach
- 17:56the word of the Lord to him and all his household. Late, as
- 18:00it was, he took them to wash their wounds and baptize them then and
- 18:03there with all his household. About several proestant denominations Baptists could particularly work about
- 18:10this say that, well, while many of them maintain that baptism is symbolic,
- 18:14they also say you shouldn't baptize infants because they're not of age. Yet
- 18:18they can't understand what's going on. Well, here he baptized all his household.
- 18:25Are we to assume he had a household that had no children in it?
- 18:29No, No, you baptize a child so that child is protected from
- 18:33satanic influences and open to the Holy Spirit from the earliest possible time. Confirmation
- 18:41is where one joins the church with full understanding of what's going on. But
- 18:45of course most projestant churches don't have confirmation. Therein lies the problem. You
- 18:51stop listening to the people with authorities, start following those that have none,
- 18:55and you wander into error. Ephesians four three six. Take every care to
- 19:02preserve the unity of the spirit by the peace that binds you together. There
- 19:04is one body, one spirit, just as one hope is the goal of
- 19:08your calling by God. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
- 19:15and one God, the Father of all, overall, through all,
- 19:18and within all. That's there's a lot in that passage, isn't it the
- 19:23unity that binds you together, one body. There's only one church, and
- 19:30baptism is essential, and it's what brings us into the body of the Lord.
- 19:34You can call yourself the body of Christ. But if you're not baptized,
- 19:38you're not following Jesus's commandments. And I hope he doesn't say I never
- 19:45knew you, you know, even though you say I believed and I did
- 19:51this in your name, and he says, be gone, I don't know
- 19:53who you are because you're not part of me. You're not part of my
- 19:57church. I hope again. I have place must much hope. I pay
- 20:03a place full hope in purgatory where such people Protestant and Catholic and otherwise may
- 20:12have an opportunity to get things right so they can go to heaven. Because
- 20:18you know, there are a lot of really good Protestants out there, and
- 20:21they just don't have the fullness of the truth. It's a great mercy that
- 20:23God gives a set gift, and it's not to be despised. You know
- 20:30again, that Baptist minister that went on and on and on about how there
- 20:33was no purgatory, based it on nothing but his own opinion and a verse
- 20:37out of context from the Bible. You know, hopefully, Well, he
- 20:44just passed away a couple of weeks ago. Very good man, very good
- 20:48man. But I hope and pray. I prayed for the repose of his
- 20:52soul immediately upon the hearing of his passing, and I hope he gets to
- 20:56figure things out in purgatory. Because Jesus said, nothing unclean can enter heaven.
- 21:02You have to be purged anyway. We'll wrap it up with First Peter
- 21:07three twenty one through twenty two. It is the baptism corresponding to this water
- 21:12which saves you now, not the washing off of physical dirt, but the
- 21:17pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
- 21:21who has entered heaven and is at God's right hand with angels, ruling forces,
- 21:26and power subject to him. It is the baptism which saves you now.
- 21:33Think about that. I do not know how anyone can read the Bible
- 21:37and not understand the absolute, utter necessity of baptism. And if they understand
- 21:45it and then reject it, that is that's rejecting the commandments of Jesus knowingly.
- 21:52That's making yourself your own God. That's saying I know better and I
- 21:56have more authority than Jesus Christ and his Holy apostles. If you under read
- 22:03it and understand it, you must do it. As I said yesterday,
- 22:07just do what Jesus said. Do if Jesus said, do it, do
- 22:11it. I mean, it's it's that simple, it's it doesn't even need
- 22:15to be complicated. But people, I always say, people make their own
- 22:19trouble. You know, you can be in the most peaceful, idyllic,
- 22:22pastoral countryside community and if there's more than two or three people there, they're
- 22:26going to be arguing and fighting, and they're gonna be cheating on each other
- 22:30and stealing, and people make their own trouble. And you know that this
- 22:36is a prime example. If you can read what the Bible actually sets about
- 22:41baptism, I don't know how you could ever deny the necessity of baptism.
- 22:47But you know, that's just me. I happen to be logical. I
- 22:51happen to be a linear thinker. Apparently most of the world is not these
- 22:55days, at least most of America. If they were, they wouldn't have
- 22:59just voted to increase the national debt by at least three to five trillion dollars
- 23:04with no spending cap over a two year period and be out there claiming they
- 23:11had just cut spen. You know, if you believe that, you know
- 23:15I got a oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you. And that little weasel
- 23:19Patrick McHenry unfortunately calls himself Catholic. Yeah, anyway, and if I'm not
- 23:30mistaken, McCarthy does too. They should know it's a sin to bare false
- 23:33witness. They shouldn't be lying, and they are blatantly, openly, absolutely
- 23:40lying to the American people. And man, I tell you, if I
- 23:45have an opportunity to support a primary challenge or to any of anyone who voted
- 23:51for that budget compromise last night, you better believe I will. That's worth
- 23:56walking the district and knocking on doors for I would actually rather have an honest
- 24:04liberal Democrat in those offices than a lying Rhino Republican a name only Liberal Democrats
- 24:12are pure evil, but at least they're honest about it anyway. In the
- 24:18words, Oh Saint potre Po, pray, hope and don't worry, and
- 24:23I'll talk to you tomorrow
