Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan and of course we
- 0:16Speaker 1: got with us Greg Cosell to help break down the
- 0:19Speaker 1: tape of the Eagles and their opponent. And their opponent
- 0:22Speaker 1: is Sunday night at the Link the Detroit Lions in
- 0:26Speaker 1: a game of NFC powerhouses, as this could threaten the
- 0:32Speaker 1: balance of power in the conference, as the Eagles are
- 0:35Speaker 1: seven and two coming off of a win against the Packers.
- 0:38Speaker 1: You may have heard it was a ten to seven win,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and the Lions are coming off a thrashing forty four
- 0:44Speaker 1: to twenty two of the Commanders. They come in at
- 0:47Speaker 1: six and three, and fellas, I gotta start with this.
- 0:50Speaker 1: One thing I found I find very interesting about this
- 0:54Speaker 1: game that has nothing to do with x's and no's,
- 0:56Speaker 1: but really just kind of where the Lions' mentality is.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Is that most teams, I think you guys would both agree.
- 1:02Speaker 1: You talk to coaches and talk to players all the time.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Most teams treat every game as one of seventeen. Doesn't
- 1:09Speaker 1: matter who we're playing, doesn't matter what the schedule says.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I don't have anything circled on my calendar the Lions
- 1:15Speaker 1: have been very candid that they have had this game
- 1:18Speaker 1: circled on their calendar, that they this is a measuring
- 1:21Speaker 1: stick game for them, and they clearly Adam, you could
- 1:23Speaker 1: tell they feel robbed by the injuries last year that
- 1:28Speaker 1: forced that that put them in a position to lose
- 1:30Speaker 1: to the Commanders in the playoffs and never play the
- 1:32Speaker 1: Eagles and get their best shot.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and the last two times that they played the Eagles,
- 1:37Speaker 2: they remember the Eagles had in twenty two that crazy
- 1:41Speaker 2: thirty eight to thirty five.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Game, yep.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And in Campbell's first year, the Eagles absolutely embarrassed them
- 1:46Speaker 2: at Detroit forty four to six. So yeah, I mean,
- 1:49Speaker 2: it's and Eagles, by the way, all the all time series,
- 1:52Speaker 2: but it's tight eighteen sixteen to two. But overall. Yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 2: And now it's funny, Jeff. They were snake bitten by
- 1:59Speaker 2: injury against one Washington. Well, guess what we're talking about
- 2:02Speaker 2: the playoff game last week they're injured again. I don't
- 2:05Speaker 2: know what it is with their secondary. We'll get to
- 2:06Speaker 2: the injury port later, but it's just ridiculous. Two straight
- 2:09Speaker 2: years they're severely beat up in the secondary.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yep, beat up in the secondary. The big question will
- 2:14Speaker 1: be can an Eagles, with their passing game, actually exploit
- 2:17Speaker 1: the injuries in the secondary? Greg, The Lions brought back
- 2:21Speaker 1: most of the players, a lot of the players from
- 2:22Speaker 1: last year's team. You know, you spent a lot of
- 2:25Speaker 1: time watching tape on the Lions last year. Did you
- 2:27Speaker 1: feel at any point that you know, and obviously they
- 2:31Speaker 1: were losing guys injury after injury, but did you feel
- 2:33Speaker 1: out any point that they were the best team in
- 2:34Speaker 1: the NFL?
- 2:37Speaker 3: Oh? Possibly, yeah. I mean, you know, when their offense
- 2:41Speaker 3: is clicking, it's a really really good offense. I mean,
- 2:44Speaker 3: obviously it starts with two things, the run game and
- 2:46Speaker 3: protection because GOP's obviously not a guy that's going to
- 2:49Speaker 3: give you a plane making dimension, but he's as quote
- 2:54Speaker 3: unquote pocket quarterbacks go, which is what he is. He's
- 2:58Speaker 3: definitely very much near the top of the list in
- 3:00Speaker 3: the league, but he needs to be protected. They've certainly
- 3:03Speaker 3: got speed. They've got two players that have terrifying speed
- 3:07Speaker 3: on their offense in Jamison Williams and Jimir Gibbs, So
- 3:11Speaker 3: they need to be treated as such.
- 3:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Defensively, I like their front but they've had obviously at corner.
- 3:20Speaker 3: They've had some significant issues and that's been a problem
- 3:23Speaker 3: because when their safeties are healthy, and I guess Joseph
- 3:27Speaker 3: is not healthy, correct, Joseph and.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Arnold are out.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, when their safeties are healthy, I mean, Branch and
- 3:34Speaker 3: Arnold are really two good safeties. And Branch is very versatile.
- 3:37Speaker 3: He can play slot corner as well, which he's done
- 3:41Speaker 3: with Joseph being out. But that's where I think you
- 3:44Speaker 3: know there the concerns lie with them when you look
- 3:48Speaker 3: at the overall team they're gonna put out there this week.
- 3:50Speaker 3: The concern lies with their corners. But offensively, if they protect,
- 3:56Speaker 3: they can be really good on offense.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Well, it's gonna be a great game. It's two. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: would say this is one of two NFC Powerhouse matchups
- 4:09Speaker 1: because obviously we know that the Rams and Seahawks are
- 4:11Speaker 1: playing each other, and those are two seven and two teams,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and injuries will play apart. Weather could potentially play apart.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Adam tropical storm Kaplan. We haven't had a report from
- 4:22Speaker 1: you in quite a while. What's the weather looking like
- 4:23Speaker 1: at the link on Sunday?
- 4:24Speaker 2: Not? Well, it may rain overnight, but that's not gonna matter.
- 4:27Speaker 2: We're talking about Saturday in the Sunday you Now, the
- 4:29Speaker 2: big deal is the win. The gusts between eight o'clock
- 4:33Speaker 2: and eleven o'clock anywhere from twenty five to thirty miles
- 4:35Speaker 2: an hour, that that's going to be the issue of
- 4:37Speaker 2: the entire game. Does it slowed Doun at all? Where
- 4:39Speaker 2: they could pass?
- 4:40Speaker 3: It'd be at nine seven though, that's what I want to.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Hang on, hang on, let me put it in a chat.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Hang on. They don't know, so they could.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You had to ask Greg, Now we're gonna get that.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's gonna be very factor. But by
- 4:55Speaker 2: the way, we had a couple of people ask us this, Greg,
- 4:57Speaker 2: And I know it's hard. I mean sometimes you can't do. Do
- 4:59Speaker 2: you notice when you watch the tape? Do you know
- 5:01Speaker 2: it's the win being any I know it's hard to tell.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Sometimes When people kept asking us, We're like, I don't know.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Impact money, I mean not not when you know again,
- 5:11Speaker 3: I don't really. I mean I noticed it watching games live,
- 5:13Speaker 3: let's on field goal, but I don't notice it watching
- 5:16Speaker 3: the tape. Okay, okay, but but yeah, right now that's
- 5:19Speaker 3: a concern.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And you know that. Jeffrom bick on to that stadium
- 5:21Speaker 2: one hundred times or more that you've been Those cross
- 5:24Speaker 2: wins sometimes hit the lank are crazy, so we'll see.
- 5:28Speaker 2: It's definitely concerning.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of annoying to me because the last
- 5:31Speaker 1: thing I want to do is see a repeat of
- 5:33Speaker 1: both both coaches trying to hide their quarterbacks or offense
- 5:37Speaker 1: not throw the ball when there's when you've got a
- 5:39Speaker 1: game that's gonna have DeVante Smith, A J. Brown, I'm
- 5:42Speaker 1: on Rossain Brown and Jamison Williams. You'd kind of like
- 5:45Speaker 1: to see the ball go, you know, get thrown a
- 5:47Speaker 1: few times, but you know, so hopefully the wind won't
- 5:50Speaker 1: be a deterrent for that. Let's talk about the injuries though,
- 5:54Speaker 1: of which for the Lions are many, but the Eagles
- 5:57Speaker 1: at them. The Eagles got a great injury report coming
- 6:00Speaker 1: out of practice this week, and a Cam Jurgens, who
- 6:03Speaker 1: is the biggest question mark of them all is good
- 6:06Speaker 1: to go. What else does the report tell us?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yes, who is no game status designation? All the starters
- 6:11Speaker 2: took all their reps on Friday. That that boy, it
- 6:13Speaker 2: could think about it with Lane Johnson with his ankle,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and you know he put his Instagram picture of him
- 6:21Speaker 2: being carted off. He's funny. I don't know, but anyway,
- 6:26Speaker 2: Lane got cleared. Cam Jurgens is a big one. He
- 6:28Speaker 2: got cleared. Noel Smith fine with the triceps. Tyler Steen
- 6:32Speaker 2: had a little bit of the oblique. He's fine. He's good.
- 6:35Speaker 2: He took all his reps. Darrius Cooper, you I know,
- 6:37Speaker 2: he doesn't really do a lot, but he blocks a
- 6:39Speaker 2: little bit for the run game. He's fine. Remember he
- 6:42Speaker 2: re injured his shoulder in the game. He's fine. The
- 6:44Speaker 2: big one is Jacory and Bennett. Do they have him
- 6:46Speaker 2: active for the game. He's on the roster, and that's
- 6:48Speaker 2: Jeff the way these things usually go. You know, the
- 6:51Speaker 2: personnel department, they meet after Friday's practice, they meet up
- 6:54Speaker 2: to the walk through and decide who's going to be
- 6:56Speaker 2: up and who's going to be down for the game. Bennett,
- 6:58Speaker 2: it's fine physically. This is three weeks plus the bye
- 7:01Speaker 2: week that he's been healthy. At some point, this guy's
- 7:05Speaker 2: got to play. But he's on the roster now, so
- 7:08Speaker 2: you would think he'd be active for this game because
- 7:10Speaker 2: they really they've made it clear they do not want
- 7:12Speaker 2: want Ringo playing on defense. So let bet be the
- 7:14Speaker 2: top top backup corner.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Well, we'll see this is and we'll get into this
- 7:18Speaker 1: in the matchup. This is also the first time this
- 7:20Speaker 1: week where you actually heard Vic Fangio discuss the possibility,
- 7:25Speaker 1: like really be okay with it? Moving Cooper to g asked, Well,
- 7:30Speaker 1: he was asked, but he said yeah, you know, he
- 7:32Speaker 1: said it's possible, and then he went yeah, and then
- 7:35Speaker 1: he he did that in the context of speaking to
- 7:37Speaker 1: how impressed he's been with Michael Carter the second as
- 7:40Speaker 1: a well as a nickel.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I would think against this team, you could well see
- 7:47Speaker 3: that because they want to put their three best corners
- 7:50Speaker 3: out there, and Degene certainly can play outside is you
- 7:55Speaker 3: know he especially if you're going to play a lot
- 7:57Speaker 3: of zone where he's really good in zone and Carter
- 8:00Speaker 3: is really good in zone. So I'm sure that against
- 8:04Speaker 3: this given team that they feel a lot more comfortable
- 8:08Speaker 3: with Dejeene at corner and Carter in the slot than
- 8:11Speaker 3: they would with Degene in the slot and Jackson outside.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Right, makes sense?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yep. Now let's look at the Lions, because the only
- 8:18Speaker 1: person who's questionable on the Eagles fifty three man is
- 8:21Speaker 1: Willie Lampkin, the garden center who was practiced this week.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Everybody else. Good to go the Lions, Adam, You've been talking,
- 8:29Speaker 1: you talked about it all week that it could be
- 8:31Speaker 1: a bad break for the Lions. Off Sam Laporta winds
- 8:34Speaker 1: up being out and it turns out he is out
- 8:36Speaker 1: with the back injury.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah he didn't. Yeah, he's reporters out, he didn't practice allway.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Going to be brock Right one of the highest paid
- 8:44Speaker 2: backup tight ends. He's a Y ten end, which means
- 8:46Speaker 2: in line. But Greg, what did you know about his
- 8:49Speaker 2: his high.
- 8:49Speaker 3: School for brock Wright was a big I think he
- 8:52Speaker 3: came out of Texas. I'm not sure, but I believe
- 8:56Speaker 3: that he was a big time recruit. I think he
- 8:59Speaker 3: went to Notre Dame initially. Yeah, yeah, and obviously did
- 9:03Speaker 3: not put up huge numbers as a receiver and in
- 9:05Speaker 3: the NFL obviously has not been a number one tight end.
- 9:08Speaker 3: But he is not an unathletic player. You know, I'm
- 9:11Speaker 3: not suggesting he's going to step in and do what
- 9:13Speaker 3: Laporta does, but I don't think. I don't want to
- 9:17Speaker 3: say that they're not going to change their offense. They're
- 9:19Speaker 3: probably not going to call exactly the same routes. But
- 9:23Speaker 3: he is not Adam one of those big stiff tight
- 9:25Speaker 3: ends that can't move, you know, he can run routes
- 9:29Speaker 3: and catch the ball.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And Jeff, it'll be Ross Dwelly, who's a journeyman y
- 9:33Speaker 2: tight end. Might if you follow the league closely, he
- 9:36Speaker 2: was with the Niners and numbers of years and then
- 9:38Speaker 2: with Atlanta, so they'll back up that like that just
- 9:41Speaker 2: obviously changes the way things go there. And then Penny
- 9:45Speaker 2: Swell didn't work on Friday. He's got an ankle injury.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I believe that was more preventative, but we'll we'll see
- 9:50Speaker 2: how Mormosts go with him. He is as questionable right,
- 9:55Speaker 2: But that would be a big deal, by the way, Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 2: because it would would have I'm kind of thinking that'd
- 10:01Speaker 2: be the guy looks like he's fifty, Dan Skipper, but
- 10:03Speaker 2: he's probably only lives at early thirties. Jeff, you know, yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 2: it would be Skipper.
- 10:08Speaker 3: But Yue was a really good player, so that would
- 10:11Speaker 3: be a big deal.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Now defensively, Jeff, it's all about their secondary.
- 10:15Speaker 2: It's just I'm not sure what it is why they
- 10:18Speaker 2: can't keep guys healthy. But the good little bit of
- 10:20Speaker 2: good news though, Dan Campbell at head coach Dan Campbell
- 10:24Speaker 2: indicated he even't think dj Re'd be ready this week,
- 10:27Speaker 2: but he did start working this week. Worked women and Wednesday,
- 10:30Speaker 2: Thursday and Friday. He sounds like he needs another week,
- 10:33Speaker 2: but his listen as questionable, which means he's got a chance.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And then this just happened on Thursday, Mik Robertson got
- 10:38Speaker 2: hurt with a hamstring. He did work on Friday. He's
- 10:42Speaker 2: supposedly a game day decision. Greg, has he been playing
- 10:44Speaker 2: outside this year because of the injuries.
- 10:47Speaker 3: He's played both, but when the injuries have occurred, he's
- 10:49Speaker 3: gone outside. Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And I remember talking to Paul Gunther, our friend who
- 10:53Speaker 2: used to be the Raiders de coordinator. He loved him
- 10:56Speaker 2: because he's so smart and physical as a nickel, and
- 11:00Speaker 2: that's really the way he was the Raiders drafting him.
- 11:02Speaker 2: But Jeff, right now, when you really look at it,
- 11:04Speaker 2: the reality is with Terry on Arnold out now. I
- 11:08Speaker 2: know from talking to the lines over the years, I know,
- 11:10Speaker 2: and Greg's not wrong. He's definitely right. Branch could play nickel,
- 11:13Speaker 2: he could play. He's a safety, could play nickel. They
- 11:16Speaker 2: always thought he could play corner like they thought he's
- 11:19Speaker 2: that talented, but the problem is that they have so
- 11:22Speaker 2: little depth left because Thomas Harper. I believe the guy
- 11:25Speaker 2: they claim off the Raiders starts for je playing safety
- 11:29Speaker 2: right now, Yeah, right now, I'm just saying he fills
- 11:31Speaker 2: in for Joseph. So right now it's going to be
- 11:34Speaker 2: former Temple star Rocky as scene. Yeah, and if Robertson's out, Jeff,
- 11:39Speaker 2: it's another journeyman. Arthur Mollett has been on I think
- 11:42Speaker 2: six or seven teams. That's pretty much all they have left.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 2: So the thing about.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Mallett is he's a slot and that's pretty much what
- 11:48Speaker 3: he's played his whole career. But they're going to be stuck.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Someone's gonna have to play on the outside.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Oh there's one more guy, and he did play a
- 11:55Speaker 2: little bit last week, and it's now if they decided
- 11:59Speaker 2: to move as to corner, Jeff, I'm just putting it
- 12:01Speaker 2: out there. Old friend of Fonte Mannox could do it.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Hey, it's Jeff Mosher. And if you have a family
- 12:08Speaker 1: and kids at home, like me, you always want them

- 13:50Speaker 2: If everyone if they run out of players, yeah, right,
- 13:53Speaker 2: and by ways you can go.
- 13:54Speaker 3: He'll play on the outside with the accident for sure,
- 13:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Sure.
- 13:58Speaker 1: By the way, your friend brock Wright is all also
- 14:00Speaker 1: on the injury report questionable with an ankle.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Yeah, they think you'll play, by the way, the indication
- 14:05Speaker 2: is they do believe you could play. Right.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And one guy who we should mention because he's not
- 14:09Speaker 1: on the injury report because he's on i R, which
- 14:13Speaker 1: is a loss for them, was their right guard or
- 14:15Speaker 1: left right guard Christian Mahogany?
- 14:16Speaker 2: Right, yes, yes, and you did you see who's starting for.
- 14:20Speaker 1: A former Eagle coyote aka I hope I pronounced that right?
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yes, yes, it's Sheika, Thank you. Gret. Wow, Greg with
- 14:28Speaker 2: the right good did you look that up?
- 14:30Speaker 1: You can't get you can't get Brett Tolt's right name right,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but you get dat.
- 14:35Speaker 3: I did a film piece this week and I had
- 14:36Speaker 3: to narrate it and he was in it.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So okay, oh wow, it correctly one of the chances.
- 14:44Speaker 2: But could you tell us what their film pieces on?
- 14:46Speaker 2: Is it? It was a wham trap run by jamiir Gibbs? Nice?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Is that for the Matchup show? Yes? It is? See
- 14:52Speaker 2: how about that, Jeff, that's breaking news.
- 14:55Speaker 1: That's right, and be sureka the NFL Matchup Show with
- 15:01Speaker 1: Greg Cosel and salth pal Antonio and former What Colts defensive.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Back Darius and Panthers Right Yukon?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Did he go to Yukon? Mike Crazy did all right?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Good stuff? So Bristol must be a home day. Well
- 15:12Speaker 1: you guys don't do it in Bristol never mind, no
- 15:14Speaker 1: either way. So Mahogany is is on ir NS draw
- 15:19Speaker 1: the second Yeah, the second round pick from last year
- 15:22Speaker 1: back on ir So they're missing some Levi on Werzerki
- 15:25Speaker 1: their defensive linemen. So once again the Lion's missing some
- 15:28Speaker 1: critical guys on injured reserve as well, but they've been
- 15:32Speaker 1: battling without those guys to begin with. So that's the
- 15:35Speaker 1: the position that both teams are in great health. For
- 15:37Speaker 1: the Eagles, we'll see what their run offense will look
- 15:40Speaker 1: like with Cam Jurgen's back at center, if they can
- 15:43Speaker 1: find some life there. But I want to so I
- 15:46Speaker 1: want to start off this breakdown show really talking about
- 15:50Speaker 1: the Lions offense first versus the Eagles defense, because honestly,
- 15:54Speaker 1: both of them underwent some some I think some significant
- 15:57Speaker 1: changes last week in different ways. The Eagles got Jalen
- 16:02Speaker 1: Phillips and played him a lot, and as we noted
- 16:05Speaker 1: an inside the tape with Greg Osel, his breakdown showed
- 16:08Speaker 1: that Vic Fangio went back to playing more too high.
- 16:11Speaker 1: More zone only blitzed a handful of times nine percent,
- 16:15Speaker 1: second lowest blitz rate in the league, which we all
- 16:17Speaker 1: think is how we would like to continue. And on
- 16:20Speaker 1: the other hand, Greg Dan Campbell took over play calling
- 16:24Speaker 1: for the Lions. He took it away from John Morton
- 16:27Speaker 1: for who he had hired from the Broncos to replace
- 16:29Speaker 1: Ben Johnson, and did some different things with that offense
- 16:33Speaker 1: as well. When you watched the Lions against the Commanders,
- 16:37Speaker 1: taking into account that the commanders are all beat up
- 16:40Speaker 1: and not very good. An he did you notice the
- 16:42Speaker 1: Dan Campbell impact on it?
- 16:43Speaker 3: I mean, I didn't necessarily notice a lot, and I'm
- 16:46Speaker 3: sure they were tweaks, you know, but I mean one
- 16:50Speaker 3: thing he did notice is the ball seemed to go
- 16:52Speaker 3: to Jamis and Williams more than previous games. You know,
- 16:55Speaker 3: so that obviously was something that they felt they wanted
- 16:59Speaker 3: to get done. You know, Williams can play inside, he
- 17:02Speaker 3: can play outside. Uh, but when you have a weapon
- 17:04Speaker 3: like that, you'd like to get him the football. So
- 17:07Speaker 3: you know, it just seemed like the ball went to
- 17:09Speaker 3: him more than it had in previous weeks. And that's
- 17:12Speaker 3: a big deal. He's a very explosive athlete, all right,
- 17:17Speaker 3: you know, go ahead, Yeah, I.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Was gonna say to your point. Also, the data shows
- 17:21Speaker 1: that they played him wide outside last week, more more
- 17:25Speaker 1: than than Morton had been doing through the first seven weeks.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Where as you mentioned, he was alternating between inside and
- 17:31Speaker 1: outside and coincidentally or maybe not, you never know, it's
- 17:35Speaker 1: just one week. But he also had his most yards
- 17:37Speaker 1: after the catch, right, and he had all year long.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and everything is you see the thing
- 17:45Speaker 3: about one game like that is you don't you don't
- 17:47Speaker 3: know if it's opponent specific or if that's something that
- 17:50Speaker 3: they want to get done. You know, you just don't
- 17:52Speaker 3: know the answer that question, right, you know. But to me,
- 17:56Speaker 3: when I watch their offense, I think that they want
- 17:58Speaker 3: to start with the run game. I mean, and you know,
- 18:00Speaker 3: that's kind of their foundation. And I think you know,
- 18:04Speaker 3: they have two backs that they use. Gibbs obviously has great,
- 18:07Speaker 3: great explosiveness and speed. Montgomery is much more of the grinder. Uh,
- 18:12Speaker 3: but that's where they wanted to start, you know. So
- 18:16Speaker 3: you know, ken they run the ball against the Eagles,
- 18:18Speaker 3: I guess we're going to find out because I think
- 18:19Speaker 3: they're going to try and if whether if the wind
- 18:23Speaker 3: is an issue, I think they'll try for sure.
- 18:28Speaker 1: How did they run the ball? Eleven personnel under center,
- 18:30Speaker 1: two tight ends. I mean, we know the porter will
- 18:33Speaker 1: be out, so that might change things a little bit.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But they go jump out. They go jumbo too, right
- 18:38Speaker 1: they started?
- 18:39Speaker 2: And they do yeah, yeah, they do.
- 18:40Speaker 3: They do. Now again, if if Sewell cannot play and
- 18:44Speaker 3: Skipper's the right tackle, we'll see how much jumbo they
- 18:46Speaker 3: might do. But when Sewell's in there, Skipper does come
- 18:49Speaker 3: in and uh and they'll play six o line personnel
- 18:52Speaker 3: at times. But uh, yeah, they're they're they're kind of
- 18:57Speaker 3: a fun run game to watch. I mean, they're a
- 19:00Speaker 3: heavy outside zone and run team that you know, they
- 19:04Speaker 3: run more zone concepts than anything. You know, it's funny
- 19:08Speaker 3: last week. You know, they will be specific to the
- 19:13Speaker 3: opponent though, and that's why in the matchup show I
- 19:15Speaker 3: did the piece on WAM trap because it's a really
- 19:18Speaker 3: good run against four man d lines that are penetrating,
- 19:21Speaker 3: and that certainly fits what the Eagles are. But for
- 19:24Speaker 3: the most part, they're an outside zone run team. They
- 19:27Speaker 3: are a very high percentage doing that. They'll run duo
- 19:31Speaker 3: which is kind of a zone type concept, you know,
- 19:34Speaker 3: so that's sort of what their foundation is.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Greg, if you noticed any backs getting Eagles at all
- 19:41Speaker 2: in the past game, because nothing offhand would stand out
- 19:44Speaker 2: to me where it's been a problem. Maybe it's just
- 19:46Speaker 2: it's because of the opponent, because Gibbs is so dangerous
- 19:49Speaker 2: in the past game that would concern me, you know,
- 19:51Speaker 2: because years ago, Jeff, you know, the lineback Eagles linebackers
- 19:55Speaker 2: are so bad. They get got so to speak, like
- 19:57Speaker 2: you would you knew it. If it was a good
- 20:00Speaker 2: past catching back, they have success. But I don't remember
- 20:02Speaker 2: off hand anyone really getting.
- 20:04Speaker 3: The yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, obviously Gibbs was
- 20:07Speaker 3: a very good receiver out of the backfield.
- 20:11Speaker 2: You know, they do like to use him that way.
- 20:14Speaker 2: And Chase Brown had seven catches, but he didn't he
- 20:16Speaker 2: didn't only for three yards to catch, right right.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I mean last week they against the Commanders, they got
- 20:22Speaker 3: you know, Gibbs scored a touchdown on an angle route
- 20:25Speaker 3: versus Jordan McGee, the linebacker. You know, if you get
- 20:28Speaker 3: Gibbs matched up on a linebacker and it's a man
- 20:30Speaker 3: type deal, that's a tough deal. But I can't think
- 20:34Speaker 3: this year the Eagles really being Irving.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Okay, Bucky Irving got him, Okay, he got him barely
- 20:39Speaker 2: five for one or two and yeah, a touchdown. Well,
- 20:43Speaker 2: here's what happened. He had a seventy yard touchdown.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Well remember he had that he got matched up on
- 20:47Speaker 1: Johad Campbell.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yes, right on the left side was the one.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Okay, with that a late in the downplay too, like
- 20:54Speaker 3: a movement play that was not a structured play, right right, right?
- 20:59Speaker 3: I mean those plays obviously they count. But I mean
- 21:02Speaker 3: that was not a case where they said, oh, let's
- 21:03Speaker 3: let's run Irving on a on a go route down
- 21:06Speaker 3: the sideline against jo Hot Campbell.
- 21:07Speaker 2: That's not what the play was, right, Karen Williams got
- 21:10Speaker 2: him for a touchdown, but only the two catches. I'm
- 21:13Speaker 2: just just looking at it.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yeah, there's nothing in touchdown. If I re cole was
- 21:16Speaker 3: a bust. Wasn't that the one where he was wide
- 21:18Speaker 3: open on the right side? Am I correcting that much?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Touchdown?
- 21:22Speaker 1: Would that be.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Iron Williams for the Rams?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I think you're right about that. It was a Yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 1: it was a little flick to the right side and
- 21:30Speaker 1: there was nobody there.
- 21:31Speaker 3: It was a bust. Yeah, there was no one there.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah. It also feels like they haven't faced a whole
- 21:35Speaker 1: lot of running backs. Yeah, dangerous in the backfield as well.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Other than Irving.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Really, to be honest with you, I meant, like beyond
- 21:41Speaker 1: the ones we just talked about.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I'm just yeah, I mean yeah, if you
- 21:46Speaker 2: really look at it. Yeah. And Josh Jacobs certainly is
- 21:49Speaker 2: not explosive. He I mean, he had five for thirty three,
- 21:51Speaker 2: but he's not explosive right right.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And the Vikings the Giants, I mean they were you know,
- 21:55Speaker 1: Scataboo got hurt. But yeah, it wasn't like a part
- 21:57Speaker 1: of the game plan. You talked about Gibbs and what
- 22:01Speaker 1: we found. We talked about this a little bit before
- 22:03Speaker 1: the show. Against the Vikings. He was asked to block
- 22:06Speaker 1: pass block, kept in on almost.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Fifty It wasn't asked to he had to.
- 22:10Speaker 1: He was told to my fault.
- 22:12Speaker 3: He was over.
- 22:14Speaker 1: On almost fifty percent of the reps. And then you know, interestingly,
- 22:19Speaker 1: his whole season number was about twenty percent of being fifteen.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Out of thirty two Gough dropbacks. Was you know, it's
- 22:26Speaker 3: funny watching that tape. It reminded me. And this goes
- 22:29Speaker 3: back years to the early two thousands when Bill Belichick,
- 22:32Speaker 3: when he played the Colts, would blitz not to sack
- 22:36Speaker 3: or a Manning because Manning did not get sacked and
- 22:39Speaker 3: would get rid of the football. But he blitzed to
- 22:41Speaker 3: make Edger and James have to pass protect so Edger
- 22:44Speaker 3: and James could not release into a route, and that's
- 22:47Speaker 3: what they did with Gibbs. They did not want Gibbs
- 22:50Speaker 3: releasing into a route, so they created pressures where if
- 22:54Speaker 3: they chose not to keep Gibbs in, then there'd be
- 22:56Speaker 3: a free hitter at Gough and there's no way you
- 22:59Speaker 3: want three hitters at your quarterback, and certainly not got
- 23:02Speaker 3: because Scott's not going to avoid an escape. So so
- 23:06Speaker 3: therefore Gibbs, you know, had to stay in and pass protect.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Mm hm, we told wait, did you say last week's game? No?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Two weeks ago Vikings gotcha?
- 23:14Speaker 1: Now, interesting last week he was not. He was at
- 23:17Speaker 1: his season low for being kept in the block. And
- 23:19Speaker 1: there were some blitzes on third down that the Commanders threw,
- 23:23Speaker 1: but they were able to get the ball to Gibs
- 23:25Speaker 1: quickly into the edges or yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 3: And my guess is they were different kind of pressures
- 23:30Speaker 3: and it was just a different deal. You know, that's
- 23:32Speaker 3: it's not the same. Flores is a master of doing
- 23:35Speaker 3: those kinds of things.
- 23:36Speaker 2: And Jeff, they could not run two weeks ago and
- 23:38Speaker 2: the tough home loss against the Vikings, they just they
- 23:40Speaker 2: just could not run the football for whatever reason. And
- 23:44Speaker 2: and then of course after that game, you know what
- 23:46Speaker 2: happened is uh is Dan Campbell took over the play calling.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Well, and the other thing too is keep in mind
- 23:52Speaker 3: that the game plan for Flores was very much focused
- 23:55Speaker 3: on Gibbs because in the two games that they played
- 23:58Speaker 3: last year. You know what gibbs numbers were in those
- 24:01Speaker 3: two games that they played last year.
- 24:03Speaker 2: It sounds like it's gonna be pretty big.
- 24:04Speaker 1: It had like a what four hundred total yards or.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Seven touches for three hundred and thirty three hundred and
- 24:10Speaker 3: thirty yards and six touchdowns?
- 24:12Speaker 2: What six?
- 24:15Speaker 3: So the focus of Flores was to make sure Gibbs
- 24:18Speaker 3: was not going to be those again. Yeah, forty seven
- 24:22Speaker 3: for three thirty and six touchdowns.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I mean he had twenty total touchdowns last year, so
- 24:27Speaker 1: that means he scored about a third of them in
- 24:28Speaker 1: two games against the division against their division, Right, what
- 24:31Speaker 1: does that happen?
- 24:32Speaker 3: That's so you can understand why Flores wanted to make
- 24:36Speaker 3: sure Gibbs would not be a big factor, and he
- 24:38Speaker 3: was a big reason why they won.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 1: So Vic is a completely different kind of defensive coordinaty
- 24:44Speaker 1: than both Dan Quinn and Brian Flores. So I wonder
- 24:48Speaker 1: the strategy here. He's just coming off a game where
- 24:51Speaker 1: he didn't have to blitz at all. Basically doesn't want
- 24:54Speaker 1: to love to play it too high, But it's a
- 24:57Speaker 1: little tough when you're talking about alliance team has two
- 25:00Speaker 1: really good running backs, can pound it up the middle
- 25:03Speaker 1: and also can throw some jumbo out there and sort
- 25:05Speaker 1: of make you declare a little differently.
- 25:08Speaker 3: And also a Lions team, by the way, that if
- 25:12Speaker 3: Sewell's healthy, has two pretty good tackles that can probably
- 25:15Speaker 3: pass protect one on one. Now, I'm not saying that
- 25:17Speaker 3: they'll win every rep. You know, Jalen Philip is a stud.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I mean, you know, no one wins every rep in
- 25:23Speaker 3: every game. But I mean the Lions would probably feel
- 25:26Speaker 3: pretty comfortable with Decker on the left side and two
- 25:29Speaker 3: on the right side pass protecting one on one. You know. Now,
- 25:32Speaker 3: maybe if it's third and nine or third and twelve,
- 25:34Speaker 3: they might chip here and there, But I think in
- 25:36Speaker 3: the overall, you know, game plan schematics, they're not going
- 25:40Speaker 3: to think that they have to help those guys.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Right boy, That really puts Jaylen Phillips under the microscope
- 25:45Speaker 1: in his second game because he got the best of
- 25:48Speaker 1: Zach Tom, a pretty good right tackle for the Packers
- 25:51Speaker 1: who was coming off an injury. It didn't look like
- 25:53Speaker 1: he was his best, but you credit Phillips but now
- 25:55Speaker 1: Phillips has to line up against maybe the best offensive
- 25:59Speaker 1: tackle in the world league this year.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Well, Alane Johnson might disagree, but I'm just saying.
- 26:05Speaker 1: And he's played pretty good.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, he's a really good player.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Real quick. Didn't you tell us that Soul's first year
- 26:11Speaker 2: didn't was not comfortable right tackle?
- 26:13Speaker 3: He wasn't because he played left tackle in college and
- 26:15Speaker 3: he wasn't very good as a rookie. Wow, Because it's
- 26:18Speaker 3: it's Adam, you know this. I know you you talked
- 26:21Speaker 3: to you know, offensive line coaches that you know, it's
- 26:24Speaker 3: totally different. People don't realize that it's totally different. Different
- 26:27Speaker 3: hand in the ground, different kickslide foot, their balance becomes
- 26:32Speaker 3: a totally different issue with body control. Everything is different.
- 26:35Speaker 2: It's not you know.
- 26:36Speaker 3: That's why I love when people just automatically say for
- 26:39Speaker 3: the draft, you know about tackles, Oh, he'll be a guard. Well,
- 26:42Speaker 3: you know that's not that.
- 26:43Speaker 2: It's not that easy.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Some guys can do it. Some guys can It's not
- 26:46Speaker 3: that easy, right.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Absolutely, Evan Neils struggled, I mean he struggled and everything.
- 26:51Speaker 1: But I mean, good point is Jason Latham. I mean,
- 26:53Speaker 1: he was a good. He had to play left tackle
- 26:55Speaker 1: right his first few years, his first year, last year,
- 26:58Speaker 1: this year right with the Titan.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Man, it's not a good left tackle. Is he playing
- 27:01Speaker 1: better at right tackle when you watch?
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah? Probably better, but not as well as they need
- 27:06Speaker 3: him to play.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but so so. But back to Phillips, he he
- 27:11Speaker 1: comes under the spotlight. I mean, he was the catalyst
- 27:14Speaker 1: to what the Eagles did defensively against the Packers, and
- 27:20Speaker 1: his ability in generally pressure was a big part of
- 27:22Speaker 1: what Vick was able to do. And now you have
- 27:24Speaker 1: to wonder can they get home, can they stop the right?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Can they do everything they want out of Nickel and
- 27:29Speaker 1: not declare victor have to ploz more And.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Great point because assuming wheather is not an issue, to
- 27:35Speaker 3: throw the ball to me and one of the absolute
- 27:40Speaker 3: keys in this game. And we're jumping around a bit,
- 27:43Speaker 3: but I like when we do that. It's quite just
- 27:44Speaker 3: certain things pop into your head. I think a big
- 27:47Speaker 3: key in this game is can they speed up golf?
- 27:50Speaker 3: You know, it's great to get sacks, we know that,
- 27:52Speaker 3: but can they speed golf up? Because as I said earlier,
- 27:56Speaker 3: he's one of those guys that if he's protected, well
- 27:59Speaker 3: you know he's played a long time. He is what
- 28:01Speaker 3: he is, and he's really good at it. And he
- 28:04Speaker 3: if you let him sit in the pocket and feel
- 28:06Speaker 3: comfortable and get rhythmic and play the way he wants
- 28:09Speaker 3: to play, he can eat you up. I mean, the
- 28:11Speaker 3: guy's leading the NFL and completion percentage seventy four percent.
- 28:15Speaker 3: He's got twenty touchdowns, only three picks. But you can
- 28:19Speaker 3: speed him up if you get people around him. There's
- 28:21Speaker 3: no question that that's being talked about. I guarantee Clint
- 28:24Speaker 3: Hurt's talking about that. Jeremiah Washburn's talking about that. They're
- 28:28Speaker 3: talking all week. You know how coaches are, Hey, man,
- 28:31Speaker 3: we pressure. This guy is going to fall apart. You
- 28:33Speaker 3: know that's why coaches talk. You know that's you know,
- 28:36Speaker 3: it's hey, it's a macho world. It's a man's world.
- 28:38Speaker 3: You know, that's the way they talk. And I guarantee
- 28:42Speaker 3: their saying that, and then there's some truth to that.
- 28:45Speaker 3: But you know, if he's comfortable, he can pick you apart.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Jeff last week would be a perfect example. They never
- 28:51Speaker 2: touched him, he never got sacked. He was too comfortable,
- 28:54Speaker 2: and he will make some big time throws down. Yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 2: shot on the Matchup show Greg. Many times when I
- 28:58Speaker 2: watch the show, seems seem because he's he's too much
- 29:02Speaker 2: time any quarterback in the league between the numbers and
- 29:06Speaker 2: in dig routes, in breakers, he's that's he's as good
- 29:10Speaker 2: as there is in the league. Making those kinds of
- 29:12Speaker 2: throws make him uncomfortable. We see it when it's bad.
- 29:15Speaker 2: When when he's uncomfortable, it's bad because he can't move.
- 29:18Speaker 2: It can be yeah it can, yeah he can't. Yeah,
- 29:20Speaker 2: he's great in the pocket, but you make a move
- 29:22Speaker 2: not great.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Hey. I still like a good night out, but I'm

- 30:53Speaker 3: Greg.
- 30:54Speaker 1: When you watch what they've been what Vick's been doing
- 30:55Speaker 1: at linebacker, alternating Jahad Campbell, Nikobe Dean more time, Zach,
- 31:01Speaker 1: It's funny. Zach Bond has been playing fine, but man,
- 31:03Speaker 1: we're he doesn't have one of those kind of like
- 31:05Speaker 1: fifteen tackles, two forced fought like. It's been a couple
- 31:08Speaker 1: of weeks.
- 31:08Speaker 3: And he hasn't had the impact plays he had, right, right, right,
- 31:11Speaker 3: But he's a really good player.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Oh of course, of course, what do you are you
- 31:15Speaker 1: noticing a trend in how the interchanging is going on
- 31:18Speaker 1: at off point?
- 31:19Speaker 3: I tried to notice that. I don't, you know, I don't.
- 31:22Speaker 3: I mean, you know, it's and I'm sure they're Look,
- 31:25Speaker 3: they're not doing it on a whims all that starts
- 31:27Speaker 3: game planned, you know. I think that Dean played the
- 31:30Speaker 3: first quarter, then Campbell came in to start the second quarter,
- 31:33Speaker 3: and then then it's hard to know, you know what
- 31:36Speaker 3: they do after that, you know, But look, if Laporta
- 31:41Speaker 3: was playing, I would say that you might seem a
- 31:43Speaker 3: little more of Campbell, but with Laporta out, you may not.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Good point, wonder if this is a game because the
- 31:51Speaker 1: Lions have so many weapons, where you keep Quinnon Mitchell
- 31:55Speaker 1: on a boundary, or you try to match him up
- 31:57Speaker 1: against James and Williams because what the fact that both
- 32:00Speaker 1: Williams and Amana move around a lot might make that difficult.
- 32:03Speaker 1: But but Qu's been moving around like he can. He's
- 32:08Speaker 1: shown he can handle that, so I wonder.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Right, but but move around when it comes to the receivers, Jeff,
- 32:12Speaker 3: is they they line up in the slot, they motion
- 32:15Speaker 3: a lot. I mean it's not just move around. Oh,
- 32:18Speaker 3: they go from left to right, you know, correct?
- 32:20Speaker 1: But I think I think Quinnon did play a few
- 32:22Speaker 1: slot coverage reps against CD this year and against yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 1: somebody else. So I mean he's son as he can
- 32:27Speaker 1: do it.
- 32:28Speaker 3: But they're not normally, you know, again, nothing's one hundred percent.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I hope people understand that they're not normally like a
- 32:34Speaker 3: static lineup where guys line up in one place where
- 32:37Speaker 3: you know, oh, this guy's the boundary X and he's
- 32:40Speaker 3: going to be there. You know, that's that's not the
- 32:42Speaker 3: way the Lions play.
- 32:43Speaker 2: And Jeff, the key to me is now, again depending
- 32:46Speaker 2: on who starts, if they stick with Jackson a corner,
- 32:50Speaker 2: if they do based on them getting James, the Willings
- 32:53Speaker 2: finally have that breakout game. I mean, that's a matchup.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I get at Dan Campbell's you know, he did call
- 32:59Speaker 2: places in twenty twenty one after fire resigned Anthony Lynn,
- 33:02Speaker 2: but that was when they were eighth. That's a long
- 33:04Speaker 2: time ago. Williams wasn't on the team. Then you have
- 33:08Speaker 2: to look forward here and say this is a matchup
- 33:10Speaker 2: we want. We want to get Williams on Jackson. Somehow,
- 33:13Speaker 2: that's an isolation matchup. I know that, you know it's
- 33:15Speaker 2: a little technical, but you can do that. That's the
- 33:17Speaker 2: one that would worry me a little bit. And that's
- 33:19Speaker 2: to Greg's point.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Vic.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Either he he watches and if a doesen if Jackson's
- 33:24Speaker 2: playing poor, he pulls him and he makes that move,
- 33:27Speaker 2: or he surprises us and goes with Coop.
- 33:30Speaker 3: You know, as you suggested the top of the show,
- 33:32Speaker 3: and now you know, just i'mon Ross Saint Brown will
- 33:37Speaker 3: line up both outside and inside. He's been super effective
- 33:40Speaker 3: in the slot because he's been targeted thirty nine times
- 33:43Speaker 3: in the slot and he has thirty two catches. That's
- 33:45Speaker 3: a very high percentage. I think that's over eighty percent,
- 33:49Speaker 3: So you know, but he's not just a slot guy,
- 33:51Speaker 3: but he's very very effective when he does work out.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Of the slot. What do you like so much about him? Greg?
- 33:57Speaker 2: What makes him such a great player?
- 34:00Speaker 3: You know, he's he's and I'll explain it more, but
- 34:05Speaker 3: he's just a pro, like he knows how to get
- 34:08Speaker 3: into routes. He knows how to run routes. He knows
- 34:11Speaker 3: how to get into voids and zones. He knows how
- 34:14Speaker 3: to set up corners when it's man. He knows how
- 34:17Speaker 3: to be a receiver because he's not an explosive athlete.
- 34:21Speaker 3: What I'm just curious what year did he come out?
- 34:25Speaker 2: I'm on round one, fourth rounder? Yeah, twenty one.
- 34:27Speaker 3: You know he's twenty one?
- 34:29Speaker 2: A positive fourth rounder? Yeah?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Okay, hold on, I want to look up what I
- 34:34Speaker 3: said about him.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Remember his dad, John was the bodybuilder.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 1: What colors did he go to? I forgot?
- 34:41Speaker 2: I went to usc US. That's rue.
- 34:44Speaker 3: So here's what I said about him watching his college tape.
- 34:48Speaker 3: And I watched him for two years twenty nineteen and
- 34:50Speaker 3: twenty twenty, so I saw a lot of him in college.
- 34:54Speaker 3: I said, Brown was a detailed, nuanced route runner who
- 34:57Speaker 3: consistently showed both route quickness and separate erration quickness at
- 35:01Speaker 3: the top of his route stem. He was featured both
- 35:03Speaker 3: outside and the slot, and was used as a motion receiver.
- 35:07Speaker 3: So he presents outstanding formation versatility at the next level.
- 35:11Speaker 3: And that's exactly what he's done. That's exactly what he's done.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Perfect fail.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Here's what I said. The more I watched Saint Brown,
- 35:18Speaker 3: the more I liked him as a complete receiver, lacking
- 35:21Speaker 3: only true vertical speed. He has the look and feel
- 35:23Speaker 3: of a volume receiver in the NFL. That's what about
- 35:27Speaker 3: I would I would just add this.
- 35:29Speaker 2: The belief with him was because he under six feet
- 35:31Speaker 2: is that it was a fourth round pick, right, could
- 35:34Speaker 2: he play outside? Because that was the concern. That's why
- 35:37Speaker 2: went He dropped. Despite everything that Greg said about how
- 35:40Speaker 2: great his tape was. When you think the guy might
- 35:43Speaker 2: only be a slot, you're not getting drafted in the
- 35:44Speaker 2: first three rounds. That's just the way it is.
- 35:46Speaker 3: He was five eleven and a half one ninety seven
- 35:48Speaker 3: and only ran a four six one forty. So therefore,
- 35:51Speaker 3: people with size and this and the speed to that,
- 35:55Speaker 3: he was not combine. Wow.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Bad, Wow, it's funny.
- 36:01Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 36:01Speaker 2: He's way faster than that.
- 36:03Speaker 1: But gu yeah, it's funny that they moved on from
- 36:05Speaker 1: Golden Tate and eventually found aman Ross a similarly type
- 36:09Speaker 1: of player. And how you can use a guy and
- 36:11Speaker 1: then the question.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Mark, he's just a professional receiver.
- 36:13Speaker 2: He knows how to play receiver.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, let's let's acknowledge this that a bad
- 36:19Speaker 1: day for the Lions offense is usually between twenty three
- 36:21Speaker 1: and twenty five points. So if the Eagles are going
- 36:24Speaker 1: to win this game and play good defense, they're still
- 36:26Speaker 1: gonna have to score. And I don't think I think
- 36:28Speaker 1: we all agree ten points will not cut it.
- 36:30Speaker 3: You don't see this is a ten to seven game, Jeff,
- 36:32Speaker 3: I don't.
- 36:33Speaker 1: And then you can tell me they're going to play
- 36:35Speaker 1: it in in the monsoon, and I don't think it's
- 36:36Speaker 1: going to be a ten to seven game. I expect
- 36:39Speaker 1: there to be more scoring.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:40Speaker 1: You disagree on him. You kind of made a face
- 36:42Speaker 1: like you think it could be.
- 36:43Speaker 2: I don't see it. I didn't think last I didn't
- 36:46Speaker 2: think we ten to have it him. There's no way
- 36:47Speaker 2: to know that. But I don't think last week's going
- 36:48Speaker 2: to be super righ scoring. Look, if the conditions were pristine,
- 36:53Speaker 2: the porter's in there, different story and plot, but.
- 36:57Speaker 1: It is not a huge part of their office.
- 36:59Speaker 2: But he's he's a playmaker. But the big thing is,
- 37:02Speaker 2: if the conditions were pristine, I might agree with you,
- 37:04Speaker 2: because those corners need to be exploited of Detroit. That
- 37:09Speaker 2: is like this is one if you could have said.
- 37:13Speaker 3: The same thing about Green Bay and the Eagles didn't
- 37:16Speaker 3: do that.
- 37:16Speaker 2: I know, I know, but after a week, Jeff, yes, I.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Feel like we say it week after week, got to
- 37:23Speaker 1: come out second.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Hang on, you kept saying this week after week last year,
- 37:27Speaker 2: and then Hurts went off against Pittsburgh. We say this
- 37:29Speaker 2: is going to be the game. It wasn't. This was
- 37:30Speaker 2: gonna be the game, it wasn't. And then he finally
- 37:32Speaker 2: went off. And the thing is, the success of the
- 37:35Speaker 2: past game is so random, Jeff. For the second straight season,
- 37:38Speaker 2: you can never figure out when it's gonna happen. It's impossible.
- 37:41Speaker 2: How would you you could? You could be playing against
- 37:43Speaker 2: high school corners. You just don't know when they're gonna
- 37:45Speaker 2: be able to be successful throwing the football. No idea.
- 37:48Speaker 1: That is absolutely true.
- 37:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 37:51Speaker 1: So this Eagles offense, Greg, how much do they have
- 37:52Speaker 1: to worry about Aiden Hutchinson? How has he been this
- 37:55Speaker 1: year compared to you know, coming back from the injury.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Yep, he's He's a lower and a half. And they
- 38:01Speaker 3: got a really good uh front In my opinion, I mean,
- 38:06Speaker 3: I like, you know, I love their linebackers, Campbell and Zealoney.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Barnes is a really good overlooked player. Hutchinson, you know,
- 38:14Speaker 3: who's kind of an interesting guy. He's been with a
- 38:16Speaker 3: number of teams, but every time I watch him, I
- 38:18Speaker 3: think to myself, why isn't he with one team and
- 38:20Speaker 3: why hasn't it worked? And that's Mohammed. He's a he
- 38:24Speaker 3: is bendy, he's explosive. You know, he's one of those guys.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I don't understand why it's worked out. I don't know
- 38:30Speaker 3: the guy. Yeah, yeah, he's you too, So it's he
- 38:34Speaker 3: came out of a big school. But they got McNeil,
- 38:38Speaker 3: they've got Reader. I mean, they've got a good upfront group.
- 38:41Speaker 3: The up there, their front seven because they by the way,
- 38:44Speaker 3: they play more bass than any team in the league.
- 38:46Speaker 3: So their front seven is really really good.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Yeah, he's been suspended before and that may have something
- 38:53Speaker 2: to do with it, but yeah, but boy Campbell loves him.
- 38:56Speaker 2: He's a really good subpackage thrusher. Yeah, would you call
- 39:00Speaker 2: their front a forty three or five to like, what
- 39:04Speaker 2: kind of front would you call them?
- 39:06Speaker 3: It's because the way they deployed Barnes that makes it
- 39:08Speaker 3: kind of a hybrid. Because Barnes can line up on
- 39:10Speaker 3: the ball or off the ball, whereas Angeloni and Campbell
- 39:13Speaker 3: are always off the ball.
- 39:14Speaker 2: What's funny, all three linebackers played every snap last week.
- 39:17Speaker 2: That's why I asked, because they don't know. It's hard
- 39:20Speaker 2: to figure out exactly what it is. But Campbell's a
- 39:22Speaker 2: really good player. Jack Campbell has been. And the thing
- 39:25Speaker 2: about Jack Campbell was, in addition to being really good
- 39:27Speaker 2: college player, they were looking to when Bret Holmes and
- 39:31Speaker 2: the group came in, they wanted to get super high characters.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Something happened when they came over. There's a reason why
- 39:36Speaker 2: they've been so bad for so long before Campbell, and
- 39:38Speaker 2: he's a super high character guy, right, And that's part
- 39:41Speaker 2: of why they wanted Campbell. When some people said, why
- 39:42Speaker 2: are you taking a lineback in the first round, Well,
- 39:44Speaker 2: now you know why. Additionally, the game out.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Of Iowa, and there's a belief which is probably true
- 39:48Speaker 3: because I certainly don't know this, but just from people
- 39:51Speaker 3: I talked to, Iowa, defensive players, based on their coaching
- 39:54Speaker 3: staff at Iowa, are really advanced when it comes to
- 39:57Speaker 3: the mental part of the game.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Okay, there you go.
- 40:00Speaker 3: If you probably are aware of that. Being a big
- 40:01Speaker 3: ten guy.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Cooper to Gene Raley more the zone concepts, the familiarity.
- 40:05Speaker 1: It didn't take Cooper long like it does take everybody
- 40:07Speaker 1: else to figure out Vic's defense. The thing that I'm
- 40:11Speaker 1: really interested about in this matchup is just sort of
- 40:16Speaker 1: the fact that the Lions haven't played the Eagles in
- 40:18Speaker 1: quite a while. I always feel like the teams that
- 40:21Speaker 1: play the Eagles consistently, not just the division, but the
- 40:24Speaker 1: Rams have play in them package right, they always seem
- 40:26Speaker 1: to remember because I do think some of it is
- 40:29Speaker 1: mental in the middle of the game, how the correct
- 40:31Speaker 1: way to rush against Jalen Hurts is, which is don't
- 40:34Speaker 1: go full throttle, don't get inside the tackle, don't let
- 40:37Speaker 1: him get outside. And teams this year have done a
- 40:39Speaker 1: good job and most of them have seen Jalen Hurts
- 40:42Speaker 1: and the team like the Lions that can get a
- 40:44Speaker 1: field with those guys you mentioned quickly. You wonder their
- 40:47Speaker 1: discipline at the start of the game. Will they remember
- 40:49Speaker 1: because we saw at the Cowboys, even though they do
- 40:51Speaker 1: play Hurts a lot, they have a lot of young
- 40:52Speaker 1: pass rushers, and you saw them getting inside the tackles
- 40:55Speaker 1: and Hurts was able to run. And we haven't really
- 40:57Speaker 1: seen Hurts running that much.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Which I just a great point, Jeff.
- 41:02Speaker 3: That's a great point because Hurts has not used his
- 41:05Speaker 3: legs this year the way we've seen him use them
- 41:07Speaker 3: in the past, and you wonder if this might be
- 41:09Speaker 3: a game. You know, we keep wondering, Hey, is this
- 41:11Speaker 3: the game? Is this the game? You know? But he
- 41:14Speaker 3: really you nailed it. He really hasn't been a big
- 41:17Speaker 3: factor as a scrambler. They the design run game has
- 41:21Speaker 3: not really been used that much at all. I mean,
- 41:24Speaker 3: I feel like I could count on one hand, putting
- 41:26Speaker 3: aside Toush pushes the number of design runs that he's
- 41:29Speaker 3: had over the last four or five weeks.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Jeff Warren asked that in our Patreons a chat this
- 41:34Speaker 2: week on Wednesday, So there you go, Warren, Greg just
- 41:36Speaker 2: answered it for you. You wanted. It was a great
- 41:38Speaker 2: question because thinking about it, because Hurts has been so
- 41:41Speaker 2: devastating at times of his career. Yeah, on design runs,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and he's usually say, Greg, you don't, you can't. You
- 41:50Speaker 2: wouldn't know because the coaches aren't telling you. But it
- 41:54Speaker 2: just seems surprising to me why they're not designing more
- 41:57Speaker 2: runs for him this year. It seems like they're way down.
- 41:59Speaker 3: I see it made it clear he doesn't want to
- 42:02Speaker 3: do that. Maybe is by who knows, you know, we
- 42:03Speaker 3: don't know the answer. But we're not even seeing him
- 42:06Speaker 3: scramble as much. I mean, how many times did we
- 42:08Speaker 3: see him scramble on third downs where he just broke
- 42:10Speaker 3: the back of a defense.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think that's a direct result of the
- 42:14Speaker 1: way teams have played him though and kept him inside
- 42:17Speaker 1: the bubble and not gone full throttle up the field
- 42:21Speaker 1: and giving him those lanes. But to your point, Adam,
- 42:23Speaker 1: you saw that one of the staples of the Eagles offense,
- 42:26Speaker 1: both of you guys over the last two years, not
- 42:28Speaker 1: this year, but more so last year and even the
- 42:30Speaker 1: year before, was that quarterback draw with whether it was
- 42:34Speaker 1: Kelse or Jurgens kicking out ahead and Hurts would run
- 42:37Speaker 1: up the middle and get a lot of yards. They
- 42:38Speaker 1: they haven't done that a lot, and as soon as
- 42:40Speaker 1: they did against the Packers, the Packers weren't ready for it.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Now he fumbled, he got the ball punched.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Out a thirteen yard game before he finally.
- 42:49Speaker 1: It's an effective play that the Packers probably probably didn't
- 42:52Speaker 1: see it all on tape this year. They may have
- 42:54Speaker 1: remembered it from past years in retrospect, but not this year.
- 42:58Speaker 1: So you just wonder the opportunities to pull out a
- 43:01Speaker 1: few things here that they used to do well against
- 43:04Speaker 1: a team that hasn't played them in two or three
- 43:07Speaker 1: years right to now, to kind of go back to that.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I would like to see some of that.
- 43:11Speaker 3: I think that I'm just you know, I just want
- 43:13Speaker 3: to see what they're going to do with their past
- 43:15Speaker 3: game because last week it, I mean, it was almost
- 43:20Speaker 3: non existent.
- 43:21Speaker 2: You know.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Obviously threw the touchdown to to Debunta Smith, which we
- 43:25Speaker 3: broke down on inside the tape, and it was a
- 43:27Speaker 3: beautifully designed kind of vertical high low. We know that
- 43:30Speaker 3: Barkley play was a bust so that you almost have
- 43:33Speaker 3: to push that aside. Yeah, it gives them yards, but
- 43:35Speaker 3: it was not. It was a bust from design and
- 43:38Speaker 3: that was not where the ball was meant to go
- 43:39Speaker 3: based on the design of the play. They just really
- 43:43Speaker 3: haven't had, you know, a pass game in a strict
- 43:46Speaker 3: sense where you see, oh, you know, other than splashes
- 43:49Speaker 3: and flashes. Here in Minnesota game, there were some there
- 43:52Speaker 3: was yeah, yeah right.
- 43:54Speaker 1: But yeah, no just just splashes. I agree. It's yeah,
- 43:56Speaker 1: looking for like the most consistent game of the year
- 43:58Speaker 1: would be helpful if it was this this week.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Right, So, I mean again, and people keep saying things like, well,
- 44:05Speaker 3: they can't sustain the way they've been doing this. But
- 44:08Speaker 3: you know, some people said that last year and they
- 44:09Speaker 3: won a Super Bowl, and right now there's seven and two.
- 44:12Speaker 3: So it's a very odd conversation to have because the
- 44:15Speaker 3: tape tells you that their past game is not very good.
- 44:18Speaker 3: But yet they're seven and two and this seems to
- 44:21Speaker 3: and they win. You know, it's it's so with that
- 44:24Speaker 3: that's indisputable. The records, the record.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but Greg, you know this, no, no coach
- 44:30Speaker 2: is gonna come in Monday morning. So you know, we're fine.
- 44:32Speaker 2: We won the game. We only scored ten coach would
- 44:34Speaker 2: ever say that? Fifty Jeff, when we were talking about
- 44:39Speaker 2: it in Syriana, I like this line. It goes, we're
- 44:41Speaker 2: gonna be We're gonna beat ourself up over you have
- 44:43Speaker 2: the tape. This is something they have to beat up
- 44:45Speaker 2: you cancer score ten points. I feel good. Yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I mean, you heard other people besides A. J. Brown,
- 44:50Speaker 1: doing interviews this week in locker room say that they
- 44:53Speaker 1: were they've been frustrated with their inability.
- 44:55Speaker 2: To execute better. So yeah, yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 1: They clearly have to figure something out.
- 45:00Speaker 2: They do, they do.
- 45:01Speaker 3: I mean, it's you know, we'll see, I mean, you know,
- 45:04Speaker 3: but again, now they're playing the Lions. It's a Sunday
- 45:06Speaker 3: night game, it's a tough place to play. Whether it
- 45:09Speaker 3: could be a factor, you know, it kind of sets
- 45:11Speaker 3: up really well for the Eagles. I mean, you know,
- 45:13Speaker 3: if you just look at it as an overview, it
- 45:16Speaker 3: sets up well. If they were playing the way they're
- 45:18Speaker 3: playing now and going to Detroit, you might think that, hey,
- 45:21Speaker 3: they could lose thirty one seventeen, you know, but they're
- 45:24Speaker 3: playing in a place that's really hard to play with
- 45:27Speaker 3: fans that have probably started tailgating now, and you know,
- 45:32Speaker 3: and it's and it's not going to be you know,
- 45:34Speaker 3: it's going to be a little brisk, it's not going
- 45:36Speaker 3: to be ballmy So it doesn't set up well for
- 45:39Speaker 3: a team like the Lions.
- 45:41Speaker 1: No, although Detroit has an eighth rank rush defense, they
- 45:44Speaker 1: allowed ninety four, they do, You're right, Yeah, they have
- 45:46Speaker 1: a pretty good I actually think Greg, part of me
- 45:49Speaker 1: thinks it's your logic is completely correct, But I almost
- 45:53Speaker 1: look at it backwards. I almost think if.
- 45:55Speaker 3: You kill my wife that once in a while.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Give this offense, the seagulls offense that's struggling, another reason
- 46:04Speaker 1: to not throw the ball and try to run the
- 46:06Speaker 1: way to win and take the sale. I feel that
- 46:09Speaker 1: just feeds into what they're not doing well. I honestly,
- 46:13Speaker 1: as much as we've talked about Hurts, his limitations at times,
- 46:17Speaker 1: but also his strengths, I feel like the only way
- 46:19Speaker 1: to get it going is to throw the ball. And
- 46:21Speaker 1: I was surprised they didn't let him throw the ball more.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I feel like this year he's made more and actually
- 46:27Speaker 1: the data backs it up. He's made more tight window
- 46:29Speaker 1: throws this year and between the numbers that throws this
- 46:32Speaker 1: year than any year passed. So it's not like he's
- 46:35Speaker 1: Tom Brady all of a sudden, But the point is
- 46:38Speaker 1: the year that he's actually made a few strides in this.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Now you're gonna go and but he's still weather and
- 46:43Speaker 1: you're gonna like, yeah, I don't know, I'm not gonna do.
- 46:45Speaker 3: With this, you know, But Jeff, of all the quarterbacks
- 46:47Speaker 3: that have started every game, he still has the fewest
- 46:51Speaker 3: attempts agree of any quarterback between ten and twenty yards
- 46:57Speaker 3: down your air yards be driving the numbers, so they
- 47:00Speaker 3: don't really do that.
- 47:01Speaker 1: And you know, hey, you got to crawl before you walk, right,
- 47:04Speaker 1: you know what. Right, he's making a little bit of strides,
- 47:07Speaker 1: and I just would I guess I would like to
- 47:09Speaker 1: see because I think nobody says A. J. Brown is
- 47:12Speaker 1: wrong with what he's saying. They may not like how
- 47:14Speaker 1: he's expressing it, of course, but they got to get
- 47:17Speaker 1: the ball to him, and that requires throwing the ball
- 47:20Speaker 1: on first down.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Even so, and I think we all probably know that well.
- 47:26Speaker 3: AJ Brown is not handling it the way most people
- 47:29Speaker 3: would like it to be handled. And you know, maybe
- 47:32Speaker 3: some are tired of him, and that's fine fans, that's fine.
- 47:35Speaker 3: I mean, no fan likes players to complain. That's just
- 47:38Speaker 3: the way it is. I guarantee within the building, he's
- 47:41Speaker 3: not the only one saying this.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I'm so I am sure he's just the only one
- 47:45Speaker 1: with a Twitch video game that he says, yeah, right.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Right right.
- 47:49Speaker 2: But by the way, Jeff, you talk about Greg talked
- 47:52Speaker 2: about you know, it's a tough place to play win
- 47:54Speaker 2: and all that. Leagles are fourteen and two including the
- 47:56Speaker 2: playoffs for the last two years at home. Yeah, and
- 48:00Speaker 2: to be shorthanded like Detroit, trying to look it. As
- 48:05Speaker 2: we've said here, if Egles actually came out throw, if
- 48:07Speaker 2: the conditions allow it, talk about favorable matchups here, it's just.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no question my view of the quarterback position
- 48:16Speaker 3: to some degree might be considered more old school. I
- 48:19Speaker 3: totally understand the need to make plays with your legs.
- 48:22Speaker 3: You know, I've come around to that. But you know,
- 48:25Speaker 3: no matter who you talk to, young coaches, old coaches,
- 48:28Speaker 3: they'll tell you still have to throw it from the pocket.
- 48:30Speaker 3: So therefore, I've always enjoyed watching Jared Golf play. But
- 48:35Speaker 3: I could easily see in this game early on the
- 48:38Speaker 3: Eagles getting a pass rush Golf throwing a pick early.
- 48:42Speaker 3: All of a sudden, Eagles are up ten nothing, and
- 48:44Speaker 3: the whole game has a different feel.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I like the Rams game, my friend, Yeah.
- 48:48Speaker 3: I mean, I could easily see that happening.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Right, That's exactly how the Rams game started, and everything
- 48:53Speaker 1: looked great, and then all of a sudden, the game was,
- 48:55Speaker 1: you know, almost a field goal kick away from from
- 48:58Speaker 1: being lost. But that's the kind of say, and it's
- 49:00Speaker 1: been for the Eagles. We have previewed this game. It's
- 49:03Speaker 1: time to do well. We do best. I know you've
- 49:06Speaker 1: both put a lot of thought into a score and
- 49:09Speaker 1: a game player of the game prediction. Hey, Philly fans,
- 49:12Speaker 1: game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines, We've
- 49:16Speaker 1: all been there, But when it comes to your cannabis,
- 49:19Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is the dispensary for
- 49:24Speaker 1: sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly, with plenty of

- 49:57Speaker 1: community with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare pros.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Cam Din Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an
- 50:07Speaker 1: experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up. So
- 50:11Speaker 1: we'll start with Adam this week. Adam score.
- 50:14Speaker 2: It's fiction, all right. This is the one game where
- 50:17Speaker 2: I had the conditions allowed at the Porta and all
- 50:20Speaker 2: these injuries, I would have gone, I would have picked
- 50:22Speaker 2: a high scoring game. I don't see that. The over
- 50:25Speaker 2: runner total is forty six and a half forty six,
- 50:28Speaker 2: depending which book you're looking at, lines are two and
- 50:30Speaker 2: a half point underdog. Here it's dropped. Actually some books
- 50:34Speaker 2: it was three, and he's scoring.
- 50:35Speaker 3: He has no idea of what he wanted to No, no, no.
- 50:39Speaker 2: We should talk about the points, bread and all that.
- 50:41Speaker 2: But I like the Eagles to win this game. I
- 50:45Speaker 2: like them to win it. We're going to go twenty
- 50:50Speaker 2: to thirteen. Very low scoring.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Oh that is that is an exceedingly low scoring player
- 50:54Speaker 1: of the game.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Yeah, who's player of the game. Yeah one, good one boy?
- 51:00Speaker 2: And we yeah, we don't have to do offense. We
- 51:03Speaker 2: just picked that.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, be bold, pick a defensive player. We've done
- 51:05Speaker 1: that before.
- 51:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with Barklay here. Conditions are gonna call
- 51:09Speaker 2: for it, and I know the lines have a very
- 51:11Speaker 2: good front. Greg's outline that. But the Eagles are healthy here,
- 51:14Speaker 2: by the way, in the offensive line. It's gonna be
- 51:17Speaker 2: it's gonna go through Barkley this game.
- 51:19Speaker 1: All right, So twenty to thirteen Eagles win. Saquon Barkley
- 51:23Speaker 1: is the player of the game. Greg something tells me
- 51:26Speaker 1: you're gonna have like a completely opposite style of games.
- 51:28Speaker 3: No, I'm gonna pick the I just think that, you know,
- 51:31Speaker 3: it's it's you know, I'm normally not like a home
- 51:33Speaker 3: field guy. You know that doesn't factor into the way
- 51:35Speaker 3: I do my work. But but I just think it's
- 51:39Speaker 3: it's you know, it's a really difficult place to play,
- 51:42Speaker 3: it's a night game.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Weather could well be an issue.
- 51:45Speaker 3: I think this d line is really coming on with
- 51:47Speaker 3: the addition of Phillips, who's a true stud you know,
- 51:51Speaker 3: don't forget that they're playing with a rookie right guard
- 51:53Speaker 3: the Lions and now a backup left guard. I'm gonna
- 51:57Speaker 3: pick the Eagles to win this game twenty four to seventeen,
- 52:01Speaker 3: and I'm gonna pick Jalen Carter as my player of
- 52:03Speaker 3: the game.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Oh I like that, And you tell about what Tate Ratlidge. Correct.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Tate Rattledge is the rookie starting right there.
- 52:10Speaker 2: You notice it all.
- 52:12Speaker 3: I mean, I haven't studied him the way I should
- 52:14Speaker 3: be studying him, So I'm being honest, but I did
- 52:16Speaker 3: not love him coming out. I'll just tell you that.
- 52:18Speaker 2: You go to Georgia, He went to Georgia.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Oh, so we're gonna have Georgia on Georgia here with
- 52:23Speaker 1: Carter versity.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we get that a lot in the in the NFL,
- 52:28Speaker 1: especially when the Eagles are playing teams.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Because you know it's going to be interesting if the
- 52:31Speaker 3: if they choose to slide their center Glasgow to Carter.
- 52:34Speaker 3: You don't even get one on one on Oshika, who's
- 52:37Speaker 3: a backup, and that may not be an ideal world either, you.
- 52:41Speaker 5: Know, So these matchups, Jeff, Yeah, so I mean that's
- 52:46Speaker 5: that's my thought process. Well, you know, we'll see if
- 52:48Speaker 5: I'm anywhere close to being right. As you can tell, Jeff,
- 52:51Speaker 5: I actually thought about this one for a good minute,
- 52:53Speaker 5: minute and a half.
- 52:53Speaker 1: You know, I'm starting to figure it out. You say
- 52:55Speaker 1: this every week, but I don't believe you anymore.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Ah, You've not goal star, will you? All right?
- 53:02Speaker 1: Well, fellas, I would like to make it a clean
- 53:04Speaker 1: sweep just to make the people happy, but I'm not
- 53:06Speaker 1: going to do that. I am picking the Lions to win. Yeah,
- 53:10Speaker 1: isn't that crazy matchups. Man, you know what, I picked
- 53:14Speaker 1: the Broncos to win, and you said they had the
- 53:16Speaker 1: same reaction, and guess what they won that game?
- 53:18Speaker 2: God, what do you got?
- 53:19Speaker 1: I picked the Lions to win twenty six to seventeen.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I think aman Ross Saint Brown is going to be
- 53:24Speaker 1: a real problem for CB two and just a matchup
- 53:27Speaker 1: issue for the Eagles. I think the Browns are going
- 53:30Speaker 1: to come in. You can tell how motivated they are.
- 53:33Speaker 1: This is a major statement game for them. They said it,
- 53:36Speaker 1: so I think they found something a little bit last week.
- 53:39Speaker 1: I know it was a bad team, but this is
- 53:41Speaker 1: not the best version of the Eagles, especially offensively. So
- 53:44Speaker 1: I think the Lions are going to come out of
- 53:45Speaker 1: here with a win. I will say I think the
- 53:47Speaker 1: Eagles are the better team on paper. I just think
- 53:49Speaker 1: everything is about matchup and the time that you play
- 53:52Speaker 1: a team in six weeks from now or seven eight
- 53:54Speaker 1: weeks they play in the playoffs. I might have a
- 53:56Speaker 1: totally different score, but right now, I.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Really somebody once said years and years ago, and I
- 54:01Speaker 3: forget who said it, you don't play the game paper wise.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Good call.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I like that. Not heard that one.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I forget. I forget someone said it, you know,
- 54:10Speaker 3: and like it was in a postgame interview, like I
- 54:13Speaker 3: can see the person saying it, and now I just
- 54:15Speaker 3: can't place who it was. I'm going back by thirty
- 54:18Speaker 3: forty years, Adam, when I.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Was it was Red Grange, Adam, right righte.
- 54:26Speaker 3: It was Red Grange when I was on my way
- 54:27Speaker 3: to the outhouse to go to the bathroom.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Maybe Jim Thorpe, one of those two guys. All right,
- 54:34Speaker 1: that's great. That has been the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 54:38Speaker 1: We've talked about it. Now it's up for the Eagles
- 54:40Speaker 1: and lines to go play, and of course make sure
- 54:42Speaker 1: you catch Adam and myself on the Inside the Birds
- 54:45Speaker 1: post game show for Greg Cosell and Adam Kaplan. I'm
- 54:48Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher. Thanks for watching the Inside the Birds Pregame
- 54:51Speaker 1: Show with Greg
