- 0:00Speaker 1: The Driver's Show, powered by in a midsoon Nano Taylor
- 0:03Speaker 1: toil over a century of engineering excellence meets cutting edge
- 0:07Speaker 1: nano scale technology.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yep, hello is this?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Yes?
- 0:20Speaker 3: Hello, Delton is my name and cooling from the Waterloo
- 0:25Speaker 3: sexual shooner?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Is that true for normal?
- 0:28Speaker 4: Look funk off?
- 0:29Speaker 5: Whoever you are.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You shouldn't lift shem of your tech for whom darling?
- 0:33Speaker 4: Listen, I fucking thought this was a scam. It's that
- 0:37Speaker 4: fucking border.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Now listen. Oh, I've told you, I've boxed your number.
- 0:43Speaker 5: I told you not to call me because I can
- 0:45Speaker 5: people about the bullshit you go on about on this show,
- 0:49Speaker 5: which I'm assuming you're doing right now.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Let me tell you, Gordy, I know where.
- 0:54Speaker 5: You work, and I'm happy to get lawyers involved because
- 0:57Speaker 5: I'm kind of sick of it.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Usually if you could.
- 1:02Speaker 4: With you as well.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Guilty has charged this old man has been following me
- 1:07Speaker 2: around all day.
- 1:08Speaker 5: What are you doing for?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Seriously, it's bad for your credibility. I don't even know
- 1:12Speaker 4: how it's good for your business. I have to sue
- 1:17Speaker 4: you as well.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Well.
- 1:18Speaker 2: We are used to.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Would we share it? Woodloo?
- 1:21Speaker 3: Sure?
- 1:23Speaker 1: It's sure a woodloo. You'll have no trouble having a poo.
- 1:28Speaker 3: You're not even.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I'm sick of the text message I get from people
- 1:33Speaker 5: telling you the bullshit you're going on about.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Gordy God, you're a grumpy old man. Have you had
- 1:36Speaker 1: your bloody prostate check lately? Not by your wife?
- 1:41Speaker 5: You boys have had a letical problems before. Why do
- 1:44Speaker 5: you have to keep bagging me when I'm not on
- 1:46Speaker 5: your show?
- 1:47Speaker 1: Well, because it's pretty fucking fun.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Actually, I wanted to ask you so. I was listening
- 1:56Speaker 2: to a podcast the other day, The Verge, which we've
- 1:59Speaker 2: seen found out as a highly work podcast. But anyway,
- 2:04Speaker 2: they were talking about the Apple and how that is
- 2:08Speaker 2: basically now dead in the water. What can you tell
- 2:10Speaker 2: us about the Apple car?
- 2:12Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you it was never a thing.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Oh really, Here's here's how I say it. I said
- 2:17Speaker 5: it as they realized that they could provide software right,
- 2:21Speaker 5: which they do now with car Play, but also they're
- 2:23Speaker 5: going next generation the whole infotainment system, the dash cluster,
- 2:26Speaker 5: everything will be driven by your phone. We know only
- 2:29Speaker 5: Audi and Porsche working with them, right. I believe truly
- 2:34Speaker 5: that they got together some of the engineers car engineers
- 2:37Speaker 5: in the world into a team, and that team didn't
- 2:40Speaker 5: truly know what they were working on, and that's why
- 2:43Speaker 5: we got leaks.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Saying that they were working on a car, but actually.
- 2:46Speaker 5: What they were doing was working on how cars work,
- 2:50Speaker 5: how to OEM dams, how can they use the iPhone
- 2:54Speaker 5: to drive all of the digital displays in a car?
- 2:57Speaker 5: And that is I think was all always their goal.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I don't think they ever wanted to build.
- 3:02Speaker 5: A car, so I don't think they got any Remember
- 3:04Speaker 5: how Dice and We're going to.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Build a car. Yeah, yeah, like they.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Literally built a model and went, nah, this is not
- 3:08Speaker 4: for us. Apple never did that, no way in the world.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean it makes perfect sense when you think
- 3:15Speaker 2: about it that way, because they're going to earn way
- 3:16Speaker 2: more money selling software to these car companies, and they
- 3:19Speaker 2: will making a car incredibly complex. The other one I'm
- 3:23Speaker 2: interested in as well. Last episode we were talking about
- 3:25Speaker 2: by d Shark, what do you reckon if you have
- 3:29Speaker 2: a crystal ball next one to five years, EV sales
- 3:32Speaker 2: they're going to go up or are we going to
- 3:34Speaker 2: see plug in hybrids tacking EVS?
- 3:37Speaker 5: Yeah. I've always believed in plugging hybrids is the best
- 3:40Speaker 5: gateway to the future.
- 3:42Speaker 4: So I think they've got.
- 3:43Speaker 5: More road to grow.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I reckon over that five year period.
- 3:48Speaker 5: It really depends what the car companies do with the
- 3:51Speaker 5: reality of pricing. Devices get more realistic. And we've talked
- 3:54Speaker 5: about on this show and I'll talk about for years,
- 3:57Speaker 5: the gap between the petrol choice and the electric choice
- 4:00Speaker 5: is too much, too much. If it's lower, it's obtainable
- 4:05Speaker 5: and desirable, But at the moment it's really we've really
- 4:09Speaker 5: reached the end of the early adopt the phase. So yeah,
- 4:12Speaker 5: I'd probably if I had to put my money on something,
- 4:14Speaker 5: i'd back plug in hybrid over over electric. Just in
- 4:18Speaker 5: terms of sales growth. They're still going to sell ship
- 4:20Speaker 5: tons of electric cars, but I think, you know, plug
- 4:23Speaker 5: in hybrids and hybrids generally will dominate the next five years.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Okay, and last question for me. They've just revealed the
- 4:31Speaker 2: Hyundai Ionic nine. I think that looks absolutely horrific. What
- 4:36Speaker 2: are your thoughts given that they are virtually the same
- 4:38Speaker 2: car under the skin.
- 4:40Speaker 5: It's amazing that the company you can have such broadly
- 4:45Speaker 5: different designs. Don't you think I forget forget for a moment,
- 4:49Speaker 5: You've already talked about it. I'm sure the fucking key
- 4:50Speaker 5: it hasn't. Hasn't that?
- 4:53Speaker 1: I was going to say it the key Tasman, you
- 4:55Speaker 1: loved it, right, I.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Just it doesn't make sense. O. You go to Hoyando
- 5:00Speaker 4: and you go, what are you?
- 5:01Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Oh?
- 5:03Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me at all.
- 5:06Speaker 5: But Paul, I've got a question for you. What the
- 5:10Speaker 5: fuck do you do this show?
- 5:13Speaker 2: You know what has happened now is Gordon has descended
- 5:16Speaker 2: to getting fake names to leave reviews on our on
- 5:20Speaker 2: our podcast, you got.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Like an Indian call center boxing to start doing downloads
- 5:24Speaker 5: for that.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Looks like you.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Got you let my ex wife out of there. Very good, well, Trevor,
- 5:31Speaker 1: thank you for answering your phone. Are you in bed
- 5:33Speaker 1: right now, Trevor, I'm in bed.
- 5:36Speaker 2: What sort of.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Pajamas are you wearing?
- 5:39Speaker 4: I don't wear pajamas.
- 5:41Speaker 1: You're naked. I always pissed it like trev with one
- 5:43Speaker 1: of those night hats carrying a candle and one of
- 5:45Speaker 1: those like.
- 5:46Speaker 5: The candle and the hat for sure.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah that's Trevor. Well, thank you, Trevor.
- 5:51Speaker 3: You have a good before you go, Lucien, please don't
- 5:54Speaker 3: Jim for sure you church and shind if I you
- 5:58Speaker 3: church and Shindo. Don't mention Jimmy your gay shoulder and
- 6:01Speaker 3: the shade take you mate.
- 6:06Speaker 5: You've got a career.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Have I think the same thing about you?
- 6:14Speaker 2: So you Trev.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I love you, Trev. Goodbye, lovey bye. Okay you're ready
- 6:20Speaker 1: for a game?
- 6:21Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 6:21Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay, Kya Kyundai, Kiya Kia or jag definitely
- 6:28Speaker 1: Kya Kya or Landrover Oh Kya Kyo or Lexus Lexus
- 6:37Speaker 1: Lexus or Toyota Lexus Lexus or Masda Lexus Lexus or
- 6:43Speaker 1: Masda Lexus, said Lexus, Masda Lexus or Mitsubishi Lexus Lexus
- 6:52Speaker 1: or Genesis Lexus Lexus or MGG what Yes, okay Lexus,
- 7:00Speaker 1: oh Lexus or BYD Lexus Lexus or.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Porsche h depends on the car Porsche, Porsche.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Porsche or Porsche or Lambeau Oh Porsche Porsche.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Or Ferra Ferrari.
- 7:15Speaker 1: We landed on Ferrari Ferrari winning the game. Hey you
- 7:21Speaker 1: forward super Dudy.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, big announcement from Ford so Ford Ranger super Dudy.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It is basically a car that exists to solve a
- 7:31Speaker 2: problem for a small group, but a big group, and
- 7:34Speaker 2: that big group is fleets, specifically fleets that do GVM
- 7:39Speaker 2: after market upgrades for vehicles they use on site, so mines,
- 7:43Speaker 2: emergency services, et cetera, instruction companies, all that. We actually
- 7:47Speaker 2: did a session with Ford and they ran us through
- 7:49Speaker 2: who they're targeting with this, and they used a good
- 7:51Speaker 2: example where they had like a guy that was doing
- 7:54Speaker 2: regional firefighting and what they would have to do with
- 7:56Speaker 2: some of their trucks, like the seventy series. They would
- 7:58Speaker 2: do a GVM upgrade and they would have a certain
- 8:01Speaker 2: capacity of water they could have on the tray to
- 8:03Speaker 2: then take to a fire scene. Well, they're limited by
- 8:07Speaker 2: the amount of water they can have because the payload
- 8:09Speaker 2: is limited on the vehicle even with the GVM upgrade.
- 8:11Speaker 2: So by giving a company like that a nimble vehicle
- 8:14Speaker 2: that you can drive on fire trails that isn't an
- 8:16Speaker 2: enormous truck because it'll get stuck. But with more GVM
- 8:20Speaker 2: from the factory means that you don't need to have
- 8:22Speaker 2: a mechanic that basically does GVM upgrades at your facility,
- 8:26Speaker 2: which avoids the warranty, and if it comes from the factory,
- 8:29Speaker 2: you've got a vehicle that sort of ticks all those
- 8:31Speaker 2: boxes and that's what Ford is able to do with
- 8:33Speaker 2: range of super duty. So we're talking about so we're
- 8:36Speaker 2: talking about four and a half ton GVM four and
- 8:38Speaker 2: a half ton towing capacity with a brake trailer. Those
- 8:42Speaker 2: two things are huge. They've also just revealed that it
- 8:44Speaker 2: will have eight studs on its hub, so that is
- 8:50Speaker 2: that's big because like a good looking blokes in the
- 8:53Speaker 2: tray eight polls. So basically it just means that the
- 8:56Speaker 2: hubs are engineered to take that extra load be big.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And Ford is talking about it existing. I gues see
- 9:04Speaker 2: it's sitting on the Ranger platform. It's probably going to
- 9:07Speaker 2: be wider, it's probably going to look a little different
- 9:09Speaker 2: to a current Ranger, given that you're gonna have to
- 9:12Speaker 2: do a huge amount of upgrades beneath the skin to
- 9:13Speaker 2: make this happen. So yeah, and it'll be expensive as well.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I reckon plus twenty grand on top of a standard Ranger.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I was going to ask about that, like where this
- 9:20Speaker 1: would said price Guide like mid tier but quite up there.
- 9:24Speaker 2: We'll think about it at the moment. If you go
- 9:26Speaker 2: buy seventy series and then you go to a GVM upgrade,
- 9:29Speaker 2: you're paying seventy or eighty grand for a seventy series
- 9:32Speaker 2: or one twenty if you want of the Dreamers that's
- 9:34Speaker 2: on car sales, and then you're paying probably fifteen grand
- 9:37Speaker 2: to do a GVM upgrade that is avoiding the warranty.
- 9:40Speaker 2: So basically, once it's done, you've got to restore it
- 9:42Speaker 2: to factory to sell it. So there's a lot of
- 9:44Speaker 2: work that goes on there. If you could just spend
- 9:46Speaker 2: twenty grand on top of ranger, so you've got factory warranty.
- 9:49Speaker 1: That's an interesting point because as soon as you do
- 9:51Speaker 1: start stacking on the extra gear and whatnot, you're spending
- 9:55Speaker 1: a lot of money. And yeah, it does put the
- 9:58Speaker 1: warranty in some sort of disreput generally.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so it'll be cool. So it's coming out twenty
- 10:03Speaker 2: twenty six, they'll reveal it next year. Twenty twenty five
- 10:05Speaker 2: given out quickly. The Chinese are replicating cars. It wouldn't
- 10:08Speaker 2: surprise me if the Chinese basically launched a copy cat
- 10:12Speaker 2: of this and launched a four four did so. Yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 2: I'll see what happens.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Hey, the twenty twenty five LDV tear on at nine.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I've seen the EV sister brother of this. I've only
- 10:27Speaker 1: seen this in the Camo rap that it's got going on.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Would you believe the electric version is called the e
- 10:34Speaker 2: Tehon nine.
- 10:36Speaker 1: No, I wouldn't believe that. Actually I would believe that
- 10:38Speaker 1: because it's in the news story that I sent you.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yep, but didn't read. So this is basically a replacement
- 10:44Speaker 2: for the T sixty the current year that they run.
- 10:46Speaker 2: But fascinatingly enough, it will be sold alongside the current
- 10:50Speaker 2: T sixty, which tells me that this is going to
- 10:52Speaker 2: be expensive, so they'll probably jack the price up a
- 10:55Speaker 2: little bit, so you can still buy the cheat one
- 10:57Speaker 2: if you want, but then you can also have this.
- 10:59Speaker 2: It looks pretty good in terms of the specs, so
- 11:03Speaker 2: basically it'll have a GVM between thirty three twenty and
- 11:05Speaker 2: thirty five hundred kilos, so it gives you a pretty
- 11:08Speaker 2: decent range there in terms of brake Towne capacity and payload.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It's also fairly big as well, five and a half
- 11:15Speaker 2: meters long just under two meters wide, so it will
- 11:18Speaker 2: be a whopper of a thing three point three meter
- 11:20Speaker 2: wheelbase as well, so be fairly big. And I think
- 11:23Speaker 2: that LDV has done a great job with the T
- 11:26Speaker 2: sixty in terms of the drive train, so I'm hoping
- 11:28Speaker 2: this feels just as good behind the wheel.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I think LDV has done great in general in the
- 11:32Speaker 1: last couple of years since launching. I think their utes
- 11:35Speaker 1: are very accessible.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so look, I think I think they're onto a
- 11:40Speaker 2: good thing with it. It'll just be the price. I'll
- 11:42Speaker 2: be curious to see where they land in terms of pricing,
- 11:44Speaker 2: because you don't want it to be super expensive, and
- 11:47Speaker 2: some of these brands really are starting to jack their
- 11:49Speaker 2: prices up. MG's looking to go more premium, and if
- 11:52Speaker 2: these guys do the same, it's going to make it
- 11:54Speaker 2: a little bit tricky to access some of this stuff.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting what LDV came out with saying that
- 11:59Speaker 1: we want to make a un We want to make
- 12:00Speaker 1: the buyer walk into LDVS showrooms and basically have a
- 12:05Speaker 1: lot on offer, like different ranges and different price points
- 12:09Speaker 1: and that sort of stuff.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So, and LDV has been around for a while. It's
- 12:12Speaker 2: one of those Chinese brands that that's been here for
- 12:14Speaker 2: a while but doesn't have a huge range of cars.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Whereas you look at some of the new Chinese brands
- 12:18Speaker 2: have just arrived, they just have hundreds of models. You know,
- 12:22Speaker 2: it's not literally, but many models. So yeah, still keeping
- 12:27Speaker 2: you up, Olivia.
- 12:28Speaker 1: How on? Oh you know what I checked out the
- 12:31Speaker 1: other day, Yeah, Coopra, not Trevors.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah, the Taviascan, of the Tavascan.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, the Tavascan, which sounds like some sort of terrible
- 12:41Speaker 1: scan you get done at a hospital.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I've got the Tavascan and it's all clear.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Than it's all good. Yours came back. I thought you
- 12:48Speaker 1: copped a dose. My tabascan came back with all sorts
- 12:53Speaker 1: of issues. Yes, oh, man, I tell.
- 12:55Speaker 5: You what I had.
- 12:56Speaker 1: That was a lump spotted. There was like some there
- 12:59Speaker 1: was some swelling going on my Taverascan. Just I've got
- 13:06Speaker 1: a follow up specialist appointment with my Taverascan. Well, fuck them.
- 13:11Speaker 1: They don't let me drive their cars.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know. So the Tabascan I
- 13:18Speaker 1: did sit in it the other day and get to
- 13:20Speaker 1: drive it, which was a pity. What do you make
- 13:22Speaker 1: of the interior on this, because jesu, it's a real different,
- 13:25Speaker 1: standout sort of a car. I like the fact that
- 13:28Speaker 1: they're going balls are you know, I like a real
- 13:30Speaker 1: brave interior.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I think it's different. There's a lot of
- 13:34Speaker 2: angles and stuff.
- 13:35Speaker 1: There's that weird spine thing in the middle. It looks
- 13:37Speaker 1: like it's got like a snake skin on it.
- 13:41Speaker 2: We were looking at the same thing, but yes, yes,
- 13:44Speaker 2: we definitely are. Yeah.
- 13:45Speaker 1: No, look, I like it.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I think it's different and it just gives you something
- 13:48Speaker 2: that isn't just generic and boring in this segment, which
- 13:51Speaker 2: is often what you find.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Mmm, Corpra really bring in like a lot to the
- 13:56Speaker 1: table next year. Oh you know what, I'm actually genuinely
- 13:59Speaker 1: excited about. The Leon is going to have like a
- 14:02Speaker 1: sports tour version.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yes, so it's like driven. It's quite good.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Oh is it so? From top of my head? Tell
- 14:10Speaker 1: me if I'm wrong.
- 14:11Speaker 2: It's got the.
- 14:13Speaker 1: It's got the Goldfi engine in it, doesn't it.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not sure exactly. I didn't read this. I
- 14:18Speaker 2: drove it before we knew what we were getting, right,
- 14:20Speaker 2: But we drive a plug in hybrid and I think
- 14:23Speaker 2: the version with the gold Fire engine as well. And
- 14:26Speaker 2: it's a fun car. Yeah, really cool. Good to see
- 14:28Speaker 2: wagons making a comeback finally.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's kind of it's a small wagon, you
- 14:33Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like it's a little nimble wagon.
- 14:35Speaker 2: It's not outrage It's not like a SUPERB, which is
- 14:38Speaker 2: huge and not that good. It's it's sort of just
- 14:41Speaker 2: nicely sized.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Not that superb. Where should we go now?
- 14:46Speaker 2: Home? By the sounds of it, Gordy, you've worked with
- 14:53Speaker 2: Itamitsu before at their launch event, right, yeah, I have.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I've got to say I was really impressed. These guys
- 14:58Speaker 1: have been leaders in oil innovation for over a century.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I mean they're the ones trusted by Toyota and Mazda
- 15:06Speaker 1: to deliver precision engineered oils straight from the factory, and
- 15:10Speaker 1: now they're bringing this same expertise directly to OSSI owners.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Like this is exciting times.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So what stood out to you the most?
- 15:18Speaker 1: Okay, so they've got this nano tailored oil and this
- 15:21Speaker 1: stuff is next level. I mean they don't just make
- 15:24Speaker 1: the kind of who Hi everyday products. Every formula is
- 15:28Speaker 1: designed with a purpose. So we've got the IFG three.
- 15:30Speaker 1: This is perfect for city driving. This is where you're
- 15:34Speaker 1: in that sort of stop start traffic, the stuff that
- 15:36Speaker 1: really puts the stress on your engine. Then you've got
- 15:39Speaker 1: the IFG seven. Now this is a beast for high
- 15:43Speaker 1: performance vehicles. Seven layers of protection on this one, and
- 15:47Speaker 1: it's got their nano cleansing tech that stops oil breakdowns
- 15:52Speaker 1: even in the harshest of conditions. And if you're driving
- 15:54Speaker 1: a Japanese car, the IFG five is built for precision
- 15:59Speaker 1: engineered engines, offering five layers of protection to keep your
- 16:03Speaker 1: engine clean and running smoothly.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Gee, that sounds like some serious attention to detail.
- 16:08Speaker 1: That's what I'm all about. I'm all about the detailed pavlo.
- 16:11Speaker 1: You know this about me. The IFG seven isn't just oil.
- 16:14Speaker 1: It's like giving your engine a custom built suit of armor.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And it doesn't just protect your engine too, it optimizes performance.
- 16:21Speaker 1: So if you're into keeping your car at its absolute best,
- 16:25Speaker 1: this is the oil that you want.
- 16:27Speaker 2: And now it's easy to get as well.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, it's really easy. It's all online. Just search
- 16:30Speaker 1: out Itamitsu Australia. That's id E m it Su Australia. Oh,

- 17:09Speaker 2: It Amitsu taking you beyond engine protection to real driving excitement.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Couldn't have said it better myself.
- 17:15Speaker 2: That was great. I'm always carrying this show.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I noticed you've been getting around looking a little bit
- 17:21Speaker 1: more fancier than usual. Ah see see yeah, you have
- 17:27Speaker 1: been practicing your Italian who wearing a buttoned up polo
- 17:31Speaker 1: shirt right to the tippity top. You've got your chinos on.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You're carrying around a tray of Lasagnia, which is weird.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yes, So can I just quickly before I get into
- 17:40Speaker 2: more of this, just talk about Yoko Fritto, which is
- 17:45Speaker 2: this amazing just delicacy that I had when we were
- 17:50Speaker 2: in Italy? Is this a woman?
- 17:53Speaker 1: So so anyway? So yes, yes, it's.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Italian bread that's served with proscuto and depending on where
- 18:00Speaker 2: you are, some bellsamica as well.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Sometimes oh okay, and good food chat from you.
- 18:05Speaker 2: So amazing. So if you are Italian. I need to
- 18:08Speaker 2: know where you can buy this in Australia.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's really easy. So you go to the
- 18:11Speaker 1: supermarket if you get a thing of olive oil and
- 18:14Speaker 1: balsamic vinegar. Yeah, and get yourself a bloody bread stick.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Don't point out him. No, no, he's uncultured, that's what
- 18:21Speaker 2: he is. That's not that. So I need to anyone
- 18:25Speaker 2: Italian frito. Let me know where I can get it
- 18:27Speaker 2: in Australia, preferably Melbourne.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But what is it bread?
- 18:30Speaker 2: It's like a puff pastry with this protrudo on it
- 18:34Speaker 2: and it'd served with that Bellsamico. But anyway, did you say, Bosmico?
- 18:39Speaker 4: Yes?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Is that how you?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Oh you are all right there, mate? Come down? So
- 18:45Speaker 1: I lost my mum going to a cafe years I'll
- 18:47Speaker 1: have and she'll have a espresso and give us a
- 18:52Speaker 1: slice of carrot cake. Two thanks darling with you and
- 18:55Speaker 1: your Besmico. So yeah, I was in Italy.
- 18:59Speaker 2: We would doing a tour of the Ferrari factory and
- 19:02Speaker 2: just looking at the Fierano test track as well in
- 19:06Speaker 2: Furano and the factory is unreal. So we got to
- 19:10Speaker 2: do a tour of the sort of main factory in Marinello.
- 19:13Speaker 2: It's the only place they make Ferraris, with the exception
- 19:15Speaker 2: of one Ferrari that I'll tell you about very soon.
- 19:18Speaker 2: So yeah, basically this factory, they have green space inside
- 19:22Speaker 2: so they cast their own engines. They basically assemble all
- 19:25Speaker 2: their own engines. So through the factory you'll see mixture
- 19:28Speaker 2: of V six, V eight and V twelve engines being assembled,
- 19:31Speaker 2: and they even have like sections with trees in the
- 19:33Speaker 2: middle where people just want green space to sort of
- 19:36Speaker 2: hang out.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Of course, do you have one of those car expert
- 19:39Speaker 1: a tree and yeah, I think you've just got a
- 19:41Speaker 1: couple of pop plants. During the Christmas party you do
- 19:43Speaker 1: to pup in one.
- 19:46Speaker 2: So yeah, it was it was unreal, so really really
- 19:49Speaker 2: cool to see that. And also the Fiurano test track,
- 19:52Speaker 2: We've got to test the SF ninety and the two
- 19:55Speaker 2: nine six GTV on the track there. It was wet,
- 19:57Speaker 2: which wasn't great, but the test track itself is all
- 20:00Speaker 2: basically Enzo Ferrari's house was virtually in the center of
- 20:04Speaker 2: this and he wanted the test track built around it
- 20:07Speaker 2: so that he could see the cars being tested. And yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 2: up until recently they're actually testing Formula one cars there,
- 20:13Speaker 2: but they're not allowed to do that anymore at Fierano,
- 20:15Speaker 2: so it's just road cars.
- 20:17Speaker 1: The house still their house is still there and no
- 20:20Speaker 1: so no.
- 20:20Speaker 2: One's really allowed in there. But they've even got literally
- 20:23Speaker 2: housing adjacent to the track. And there's a section of
- 20:26Speaker 2: the track where there's a noise meter and you have
- 20:28Speaker 2: to let off the throttle at certain parts to not
- 20:30Speaker 2: trigger the noise meter. It's triggered a certain amount of
- 20:33Speaker 2: times in a day off to shut down. And there's
- 20:35Speaker 2: an apartment building, like a three or four story apartment
- 20:37Speaker 2: building literally on the track, so imagine having a room
- 20:40Speaker 2: there where you can just see all these cars driving around.
- 20:44Speaker 2: They even have this incredible fighter plane inside the test
- 20:50Speaker 2: track and it was donated to Ferrari by the Italian
- 20:54Speaker 2: government because they used the fighter jet to stage this
- 20:57Speaker 2: drag race with Formula one cars and basically the Formula
- 21:02Speaker 2: one car from Ferrari kept winning and they could not
- 21:05Speaker 2: get this fighter jet to beat it in this one
- 21:07Speaker 2: mile drag race. Wow, end up donating the fuselage, so.
- 21:12Speaker 1: This fighter Jets a piece of shit, just give it
- 21:13Speaker 1: to them. They probably had a bet like, hey, whoever
- 21:16Speaker 1: wins this lab against the fighter.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Jet it's so cool. So I really appreciated just seeing
- 21:21Speaker 2: that and being immersed in that because the Ferrari Factories
- 21:23Speaker 2: is unreal. It is just such an incredible place. But
- 21:27Speaker 2: the Ferrari that wasn't made in Italy is actually it's
- 21:30Speaker 2: called a Ferrari Testa Rossa and it is a small
- 21:34Speaker 2: electric Ferrari that is basically big enough for one adult,
- 21:41Speaker 2: and we used it in a drag race series that
- 21:44Speaker 2: is about to go live or has gone live on
- 21:46Speaker 2: our site. And in addition to that, we used a
- 21:49Speaker 2: stack of other cars from one of our investors, including
- 21:52Speaker 2: stuff like the Lamborghinichian't, the Cortage and a new one obviously,
- 21:58Speaker 2: the new one of McLaren's like center p one so
- 22:02Speaker 2: awesome series. Make sure you hit the Car Expert YouTube
- 22:04Speaker 2: channel to vomited in my mouth. Yeah, make sure you
- 22:08Speaker 2: hit to the Car Expert YouTube channel to check that
- 22:10Speaker 2: out and to have a look at the Ferrari Testa Rossa, Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 2: which is a fun little thing.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Going back to that jet for a second, did you
- 22:17Speaker 1: ever see that documentary that was done about Pepsi and
- 22:20Speaker 1: it was called something like Pepsi Wears My Jet? That
- 22:23Speaker 1: was incredible.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yep. That was a good one.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Yeah, nearly got himself, well, he nearly got himself a
- 22:28Speaker 1: fucking large payout, and then he stupidly got principles and
- 22:33Speaker 1: then he didn't get a thing. Wait did he get anything?
- 22:35Speaker 2: I don't think. I think he got like some free
- 22:37Speaker 2: pepsi or something. I don't think actually got anything.
- 22:39Speaker 1: He got nothing. He got a documentary made. Yeah, pretty
- 22:42Speaker 1: much anyway. Um Oh, hey, Toyota land Cruise O Prato. Yes, interesting, interesting, Yes,
- 22:52Speaker 1: I think straight up this is a great looking car,
- 22:56Speaker 1: and if we could judge a book by its cover,
- 23:00Speaker 1: they would and they will sell a ton of these.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yep.
- 23:05Speaker 1: But I think there's a little I think there's an
- 23:07Speaker 1: asterix next to this.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, so look I had a chance to extensively
- 23:12Speaker 2: drive the Altitude, which is one down from the top
- 23:14Speaker 2: spec in terms of the lineup. They started over seventy
- 23:18Speaker 2: grand now and that's the base, huge, huge money. They
- 23:21Speaker 2: finish it over one hundred grand. On the road. There's
- 23:25Speaker 2: only two five seat variants and only one variant, which
- 23:28Speaker 2: is the Altitude with a rear differential lock. Everything else
- 23:30Speaker 2: has a torson centertif and then traction control effectively and
- 23:34Speaker 2: then low range altitude is the other one with the
- 23:37Speaker 2: red diff lock. Now, it created a bit of a
- 23:40Speaker 2: stir online because I don't know how to etemuff this up.
- 23:43Speaker 2: But the cargo space is an absolute disaster. So they've
- 23:47Speaker 2: got the five seat version has to have space for
- 23:50Speaker 2: a forty eight mild hybrid battery and cooling system, and
- 23:54Speaker 2: to fit that in, they've basically reserved a space beneath
- 23:57Speaker 2: the cargo floor and it causes the cargo floor to
- 23:59Speaker 2: sit up by fifteen or twenty centimeters. That is if
- 24:03Speaker 2: you get five seats. If you get seven seats, it's
- 24:06Speaker 2: even worse because the seven seats sit on top of
- 24:08Speaker 2: the already raised cargo.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Oh does it?
- 24:10Speaker 2: And to create a flat floor, I haven't seen that
- 24:13Speaker 2: they've installed this box that is, I reckon, maybe thirty
- 24:17Speaker 2: centimeters tall.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So where does so the seats sit on top of
- 24:20Speaker 1: this box that's in the boot, the very.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Container for the forty eight Yeah yeah, yeah. So it
- 24:25Speaker 2: is an absolute disaster. And what Toyota has said is
- 24:27Speaker 2: that in previous generations of this car, you could take
- 24:29Speaker 2: out the third row and still have a usable boot.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Now they're not allowing you to do that because it
- 24:34Speaker 2: runs the risk of you exposing yourself to the forty
- 24:37Speaker 2: eight vault battery system, which is not twelve vaults. It
- 24:41Speaker 2: can be dangerous. It's high current, so I think that's
- 24:44Speaker 2: a really big miss. They've moved the spare tie from
- 24:47Speaker 2: the rear of the vehicle, which they used to do
- 24:48Speaker 2: with the altitude in the previous spect to underneath.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But I think that's actually a great move in terms
- 24:53Speaker 1: of design, Like it looks as it looks better, do
- 24:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 24:56Speaker 2: But design it is. But the problem with the car
- 24:58Speaker 2: is that it's heavier, and by moving the tire from
- 25:01Speaker 2: there to under you've gone from having one hundred and
- 25:03Speaker 2: fifty letters of boot of fuel capacity to one hundred
- 25:08Speaker 2: and ten liters, so you're reducing your range. The vehicle
- 25:11Speaker 2: heavier has a carryover engine that makes the vehicle now
- 25:14Speaker 2: slower even though it has more towing capacity. They've got
- 25:18Speaker 2: a slight issue as well with gvms. So if you
- 25:21Speaker 2: look at the GVM of the vehicle when it's fully
- 25:24Speaker 2: loaded with three and a half tons of trailer and
- 25:26Speaker 2: around three hundred and fifty kilo on your downball, you've
- 25:29Speaker 2: got under three hundred kilo worth a payload to play
- 25:31Speaker 2: with So that's two people in the front seat and
- 25:34Speaker 2: then maybe a kid or two and then a bag
- 25:36Speaker 2: and you're at GVM. It's before you add any accessories
- 25:39Speaker 2: or anything. So I think those are the negative things
- 25:42Speaker 2: that the positive things heaps. The space inside the infotainment
- 25:45Speaker 2: system is fantastic. It's a huge step forward and.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It looks good, it feels premium.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just wonder whether that stuff is going
- 25:53Speaker 2: to annoying people enough to cancel orders. I don't think
- 25:56Speaker 2: it will. I think people will buy them regardless. But yeah,
- 25:59Speaker 2: I did notice a lot of the other reviews have
- 26:01Speaker 2: glossed over a lot of this stuff because they were
- 26:03Speaker 2: basically testing it under curated conditions by Toyota, as we
- 26:06Speaker 2: had got to test it separately.
- 26:08Speaker 1: So yeah, I think their core audience is going to
- 26:10Speaker 1: love this. We've said this previously, but I think this
- 26:13Speaker 1: is going to sell right across the board, from cashed
- 26:17Speaker 1: up young traders who love a bloody cruise down the
- 26:22Speaker 1: beaches of Perth to that sort of like real conservative
- 26:27Speaker 1: Toyota buyer at the older the way older end. The
- 26:30Speaker 1: bood thing is a bit of a concern.
- 26:31Speaker 2: You know what.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Else, I felt a bit funny in the tummy over
- 26:35Speaker 1: was the interior feels a bit Look, don't get me wrong,
- 26:39Speaker 1: the infotainment system great step up, but the interior in
- 26:42Speaker 1: it and I know Toyota have never been greater at this,
- 26:45Speaker 1: but it just feels a little bit. How's it going
- 26:47Speaker 1: For the price? It's like just all black. There's nothing
- 26:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:51Speaker 2: You could do with a bit of color. That's what
- 26:52Speaker 2: I thought, a little bit of a two tone or something. Yeah,
- 26:55Speaker 2: I also don't know that people are going to love
- 26:57Speaker 2: the ad blues setup. So it's a seventeen later add
- 26:59Speaker 2: blue tank that will get you're about eight thousand k's.
- 27:02Speaker 2: The issue that's added on to that is six month
- 27:05Speaker 2: service intervals, which is just seems quite excessive. Six months
- 27:08Speaker 2: instead of twelve twelve is pretty much the norm with everyone,
- 27:11Speaker 2: but Toyota demands six months for some reason.
- 27:14Speaker 1: So yeah, Anyway, I think the boot's going to turn
- 27:17Speaker 1: people off. I think the price is going to turn
- 27:19Speaker 1: people off. But I don't think it's enough for Toyota
- 27:22Speaker 1: to be generally concerned about.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Now they'll sell a bucket load of them. We're going
- 27:26Speaker 2: to do some towing with one that we have in
- 27:27Speaker 2: a couple of weeks, so we'll do some more extensive testing.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But yeah, look, I think it's good. I just think
- 27:32Speaker 2: there's some stuff there that Toyota really has missed, which
- 27:35Speaker 2: was disappointing.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Actually, you know what would be great in this Toyota
- 27:39Speaker 1: Prado would be our good friends in a misso oils
- 27:45Speaker 1: fantastic for Japanese car.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Not that one though, because that's for gasoline engine, so
- 27:48Speaker 2: I would probably put the diesel.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Running's go with this one right here there it is.
- 27:55Speaker 1: You know what I think? Alright, this one's actually why
- 28:04Speaker 1: we saved the best to last. It's the five W
- 28:09Speaker 1: forty What an oil?
- 28:11Speaker 2: The numbers refer to the viscosity, Oh does it? And
- 28:15Speaker 2: that's the thickness of the oil.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Do you know what?
- 28:17Speaker 1: I went to a doctor once and he told me
- 28:19Speaker 1: I had very discuous. Doesn't matter, we should wear a
- 28:22Speaker 1: wrap it up. I reckon, she did sails tasty. How
- 28:29Speaker 1: you know what Toyota could have benefited with, especially with
- 28:33Speaker 1: their interior, is maybe looking at the Genesis Jesus, wow,
- 28:38Speaker 1: now that that is Prima.
- 28:43Speaker 2: That's like the salon.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Can you imagine?
- 28:46Speaker 6: I don't go in to your salon in Genesis GVS.
- 28:51Speaker 6: Sixty and passing that big boy in his Toyota Prado.
- 28:56Speaker 6: He works out, he works out. Look at those look
- 28:59Speaker 6: at those things. Oh, I like this, can picture myself.
- 29:04Speaker 6: I would be the hot dog in that bun extra mustard.
- 29:11Speaker 6: I want to be the hot dog your bar Afka
- 29:15Speaker 6: Jenesis son eighty percent of charge. I feel their fancy.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I see you. You should we go for some questions? Yes,
- 29:28Speaker 2: and just as a reminder while he's loading up the questions,
- 29:32Speaker 2: if you know where I can find some of that,
- 29:34Speaker 2: that would be great.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Hey, here we go. So questions from the peeps. Thoughts
- 29:38Speaker 1: on the return of Jack utes to Australia. How will
- 29:43Speaker 1: it compete here? What's the story with them? That is
- 29:47Speaker 1: a great question coming from Jerry's car.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Okay, So I think it's good because it will be
- 29:55Speaker 2: another cost effective option in the segment.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Bit of competitiveness.
- 30:00Speaker 2: We are taking a while though. So these have been
- 30:02Speaker 2: out at dealerships for quite some time now, and I'm
- 30:04Speaker 2: just wondering why they still haven't really fully launched them yet.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I mean, we haven't been given one to drive, and
- 30:10Speaker 2: they don't really want media driving them. So I'm just
- 30:13Speaker 2: curious to know what's happening. I think it looks good though,
- 30:15Speaker 2: does look good? Yeah? Cheap as well. I mean starts
- 30:18Speaker 2: off at just over forty grand for a dual cabut.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I think that's pretty impressive. That's decent.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Yeah, this question comes from Neil Dahl. Hello Neil Dahl,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you sound like an author.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Why aren't Auto Hit Lunch made mandatory to be on
- 30:33Speaker 3: by default? Dickage with dear Ril Jon Wenkush, thanks for
- 30:41Speaker 3: the question.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And yeah, I tell you.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Who else is a wine cut? If you go to
- 30:45Speaker 2: the drive in movies.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Oh I thought you were saying about Trevor. Yeah, if
- 30:48Speaker 1: you go to the drive in movies, and I'm like,
- 30:50Speaker 1: the drive in movies? Is this the fucking nineteen forties?
- 30:53Speaker 1: But genuinely, if you go to the drive in movies,
- 30:55Speaker 1: when do they have drive in movies that in July
- 30:58Speaker 1: I still have them.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yes, driving movies are still the thing. And there are
- 31:03Speaker 2: actually times if you're the lights just keep dipping in here.
- 31:06Speaker 2: It's like ghosts of radio post passed.
- 31:10Speaker 1: There's a lot here. Oh my god, it's Jonathan Coleman,
- 31:14Speaker 1: the ghost of Allan Jones. Oh my god, he's touching me.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Leave him alone.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, leave me alone, Allen. I can't help my shelf.
- 31:22Speaker 1: He's got a tasty one. Jessie sixty.
- 31:29Speaker 2: So if you're like parked across the road from someone
- 31:32Speaker 2: you found on Instagram or something and you want to
- 31:34Speaker 2: just sit there at nighttime with your car, you've got
- 31:38Speaker 2: to be able to switch the lights off. You don't
- 31:39Speaker 2: want to look like a creep. It was like two
- 31:41Speaker 2: in the morning or something. Well, he storky. I was
- 31:46Speaker 2: just driving and I just wanted to stop.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Producer Live. She is a dirty bird.
- 31:56Speaker 2: KFC. Yes, I agree they shouldn't with a greasy box.
- 32:05Speaker 2: I agree that you should be able to have them
- 32:07Speaker 2: on automatically, but you want to be able to switch
- 32:10Speaker 2: them off if you need to.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Last question before we sail this thing home. It's a
- 32:14Speaker 1: great question. It's my favorite that we've received in months.
- 32:17Speaker 1: What's your favorite carlube? Oh, well, I can tell you mine.
- 32:22Speaker 1: It's in a MIDSU lubricants.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Man.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I like these so much. I haven't might have mine
- 32:27Speaker 1: for dinner.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Bit of five W forty bit.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Of five W forty bit of the old school o
- 32:33Speaker 1: W twenty.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Well zero as well. It also works anyway. Contact at

- 32:49Speaker 1: This has been either the loosest and or shortest episode
- 32:53Speaker 1: we have done in quite some time, and I regret
- 32:55Speaker 1: nothing except for calling Trevor long, although it was pretty
- 32:58Speaker 1: funny to wake him up.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Yes, I was asleep because we're recording this quite late.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Quite late anyway.
