We have Shannon, Amy: my gosh. Katya: also known as Shan Marie, nineteen seventy-six. And she got to experience something that we have talked about continuously for the last few years, which is Amy: huh. Katya: going to the Mountain Music Festival, which took place a few weeks ago. That was August of twenty sixth in Gatlinburg, Twent, Tennessee. Amy: Right. Katya: And I don't know if you remember the lineup, Amy, but it was well one of the One of the headliners was Rick Springfield. So we'll put him into 80s rock, not necessarily metal, but Warren played, Lynch Mob, Amy: you Katya: Sebastian Bach, Night Ranger, Thirty Eight Special, Pearcy and Martini. There was Guitar Clinics by Amy: you Katya: George Lynch, Reb Beach, and we will get into and talk a lot about Joel Hookster too. Amy: Yes. my gosh. Shannon had such the adventure. I love talking about this with her. I loved every, you know, everything she had to say. I'm so thankful. We talk a little bit about how we met Shannon through Helen Collin and TSO. So that's an aspect of everything that you're going to hear. So we're just you guys. Shannon's great. Katya: Well, Amy, this is this is a true fan experience. This is a fan experience. This is what being a fan's about. This is rocking the life. Amy: Yes, yes, yes, yes, for sure, 100%. Wildlife included, so. You guys, here's Shannon. Katya: Hello, Shannon Johnson: Okay. Katya: welcome to Rock the Life. How are you doing, Shannon? Amy: Yay, she in it! Shannon Johnson: I am doing well, thank you. How are you doing? Katya: We're doing good. I'm not gonna well actually it's a good week because it's Amy and I's birthdays this week. Amy's birthday today. But I'll Shannon Johnson: Today. Amy: Yep. Yep. Katya: say we've been following your adventures from this summer and cannot wait to talk to you about them. So okay. Amy: Mm-hmm. Katya: And that's gonna be Mountain Music Festival. But before we do that, I want to ask you, where did your love of music come from? I wanna get we wanna get to know you more. Shannon Johnson: My I was I was raised around it. I Amy: Mmm. Shannon Johnson: my dad, he l he loves it. my my mom. I was in choir, I was in show choir, used to do karaoke with my mom and then when she passed away I stopped doing that. But I've always loved Duff Leopard. I've l always loved music in general. one of my mom's one of my mom what my mom said my first concert ever was. She was pregnant with me when she saw Elvis Presley weeks before he died. So well, Katya: That's super special. Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: she's like, I swear that is what put the live music bug in you. So Elvis Presley was my first concert, so to speak. But Katya: That Shannon Johnson: I I just I've I've Amy: That's awesome. Shannon Johnson: always loved it. It's just always been in me. So Katya: Have you always been going to concerts? Shannon Johnson: As long as I could possibly remember. One of Katya: Me too. Shannon Johnson: the one of the earliest concerts I have in mind that I remember was Crystal Gale. Years and years ago, Katya: Hopefully. Shannon Johnson: Crystal Gale. And then sometime after that was Lee Greenwood for my sister's birthday one year. So that was really cool. Amy: Wow. She's a concert baby. Katya: And then yeah. So in I was I know. So how many concerts do you think you go to a year in the last few years? What have you averaged? Shannon Johnson: Well, last year I went and I saw Simple Mines with Soft Cell and Katya: no. Shannon Johnson: Modern English. I went with Jill, who I went to Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: Gatlinburg with too. And that was just one of those. We saw them down at Cinnavis Chastain Park here in Atlanta. It was just an amazing show. It it was just in a beautiful area, beautiful acoustics, Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: really. But if I were to pay pick a favorite venue to ever go to a concert, Strad Rocks in Colorado, there you you can't beat the beauty and the it Katya: I've never yeah, I would love to do that. I'd love to do that. Amy: Mmm, never been. Shannon Johnson: is amazing, beautiful place. Katya: that is. Okay. So tell us now about the Mountain Music Festival, which Amy and I we talk about all the go ahead. Amy: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Shannon, how Shannon Johnson: Well, yes, me. Amy: did we meet? Katya: How do we meet? Shannon Johnson: We are going to give credit one hundred percent in actually chatting and chatting, talking to Helen. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: I think the initial way of actually the initial way of actually coming in is g it's it is it started with Helen when she said she was doing a show, but somehow, some way we got you to start going into listening to her on station head and you manage Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: to get your sh get her on your show and interviewer that way, Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: I am not going I cannot sit there and say if that if it was me following you and and everything I post for Helen Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: that got you to do that show or if it was Jill in that manner. But I mean, you know, once started in and listening to the T SO show with with Helen Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: and thank God she's wonderful. Been doing this what? Almost five years. Amy: Yeah. my gosh. Shannon Johnson: She's going on five years of doing this since Katya: That's what I was gonna ask you. How long have you Amy: Yeah. Katya: been following the shout out? Shannon Johnson: Since day one. So it's been almost five years. Amy: How did you get connected with Helen? how did you get connected? Katya: Yeah, yeah. Shannon Johnson: I was following her on Instagram and I got hit up by a DM that just it didn't sit right with me. And it was a it was a fake account, it was a spammer. but it at that point in time I wasn't as focused in doing all the reporting and the blocking of these accounts. I was just like, wait, this just seems really odd. Supposedly it was Phil. And Amy: That was going to be my question, yeah. Shannon Johnson: So yeah, of course, it's Phil. And it's just like God, I've never I've watched so many interviews of him. He's never talked that way. He's never sounded so he's never sounded ignorant. He's never sounded so conceited. No. And this Amy: Mmm. Shannon Johnson: mess was was just like that. Just screenshot Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: it. Okay, you don't know me. Is this real? And Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: Are you aware of this? She replies back. She's like, lovely choice of words on no it was not real, by the way. And I'm just like, yes, she is, she's human. Yes, I love this. So I don't feel so bad when I sit there and send her some of my lovely responses to some of them that come about because Amy: Right? Shannon Johnson: she expects it from me. But yeah, it all started because I just something just triggered me in that particular message that I'm like, this is. Dude, if this is Katya: Not right. Shannon Johnson: even really real, does she even know this is going on? So to speak. I went like Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: mm. And we just been censined and Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: when she's messaged me saying she was gonna start a show on the AMP on AMP, I was like, All right, yeah, I'll I'll take a listen. This'll be cool. And it was during co Amy: Yes. Shannon Johnson: it was during COVID. So yeah. Katya: Yeah, six almost six years ago then. Over. Just about, yeah. Okay. Shannon Johnson: Yeah, holy cow. Well, I'm I'm Amy: That's awesome. Shannon Johnson: off on my time frame there, but Amy: Yeah. Katya: No, and I have to say and explain explain what the shout out is. Shannon Johnson: The shout out originally started as a music appreciation. And with Helen Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: as doing the shout-out, she hits all genres of music. And she's she's gonna sit there. Her music that she picks, it's it's either gonna reawaken a memory, it's going to Amy: Mm-hmm. Katya: Mm-hmm. That's it. Shannon Johnson: teach you something new. She's got some of the most amazing stories that can go with some of the the artists that she plays. you're gonna You don't hear one particular genre. You you so Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: it's not like Helen Collin, the wife of Phil Collin, the guitarist of Def Leopard, and all you're gonna hear is hairband stuff. No, not at all. Because I Amy: Definitely. Yeah. Yeah. Shannon Johnson: can tell you you could hear she could play Def Leopard, and next thing you know, she's playing Elephant Fitzgerald, and you're like, and it works though. And it Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: and there's so many songs, there's times where she hits songs that I'm just like. I remember that song. I remember this. I remember Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: that I remember my mom grabbing a hairbrush, singing along with Leslie Gore when she plays stuff. It's like man Amy: Mm-hmm. I remember roller skating to this song. Yeah Katya: well, you know, and I turn I turn a lot of the songs into 'cause I love it so much. Like my playlist for the next month. Like I yeah, put on Apple Music and like create a new playlist with it 'cause her radio show is amazing. Amy: I love that all you have to do to add the song that she's playing to your playlist is just put the heart up at the top and your phone's like, Shannon Johnson: Yep. Katya: And Amy: it's It's in your library now. Shannon Johnson: something about doing Katya: So tell us tell us about your show. Shannon Johnson: I started it only because I was just trying to figure out station head. I'm kinda like I don't wanna do I'm not gonna compete with Helen. Helen is this Helen Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: is this amazing person. Katya: Goddess. Shannon Johnson: I mean, I'm I'll tell you right now, I think her laugh is one of the most infectious sounds and I can't help but Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: find myself laughing when I l when I hear her laugh. It's real, it's honest, it's Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: there. And I I love it. It it just really I can have a bad day and I hear laugh at something and I can just start laughing too. so I I started playing around with this. I used to go in, I'd do, okay, album play. And so I just play an album and it's straight through. And sometimes people listen, sometimes people don't. it don't matter to me. then I started getting into where, okay, well let's go with some 80s, let's go with hair bands, let's go with certain artists that that really means something to me. It's the birthday, or like here in a couple weeks with Mark Bowlin when it's his birthday. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: I'm gonna actually have the show, even if if it's his birthday falls on a Wednesday. Technically at this point, I'm doing nineties rock music on Wednesdays. But because his his birthday is on a Wednesday, I'm just instead of nineties rock, it's gonna be set up specifically T-Rex and Mark Bolin and enjoying Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: his music, his legacies, just like I did with Freddie Mercury not too long ago. Fridays is Deaf Leopard Friday, that that that is never Going to change. Let me tell you right now, that is never Katya: Sacred. That's sacred. Shannon Johnson: going to change. That is my favorite day to plan. after the after coming back from Gatlinburg, though, I kind of want to change up my weeks. So I've started doing Mondays at 70s music, Tuesdays it's two, it's 80s music and more of a deep dive. So yeah, the songs we love, but then again, there's those songs that holy shit. That was from who? That was what? That was when. Wednesdays is your nineties rock. Thursdays is a rock roulette. So you're gonna get from sixties to today's rock and roll. And then Amy: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Katya: Rapid. Love it. Shannon Johnson: Fridays, it's all dedicated to the voice. Amy: Deaf Leopard Friday. OK, I have to tell you this. I love that. have to tell you this. There have been times when we have dabbled in the thought of doing a show that coordinates to the show that we release. Like so when we did when we talked to Katya: Music that coordinates to the show. Yeah. Amy: to rock the life. So we've we've thought about whether or not we should should do that or not necessarily whether or not we should. More along the lines of can we handle putting it together and doing it. But it's like when we had Pete Lauren on the show or or Julia from Vixen, we could have a trickster show Shannon Johnson: Mm-hmm. Amy: and a a Pete Lauren show or, you know, like a Vixen show. And we've talked, you know, we've talked to so many different people. Right. Katya: Not music festival. Yeah. Amy: You know, it's it totally makes sense. And I feel like we absolutely could do it if it was something that we could swing. So I'll talk more about how you actually schedule your shows and and what kind of time that takes. Yeah. Katya: That's 'cause the time can yeah. Amy: And see if that's something that's feasible because that would be amazing to do. feel like yeah. Katya: Okay, so now now Amy, can I ask about the Mountain Music Festival now? Amy: Yeah, sorry. Shannon Johnson: The real reason why I'm here Katya: Ha ha ha Amy: Yeah, right, right? But, but, Shannon Johnson: No, it it was one of it is it was my first ever music festival. so this it was a little different for me because it's like holy cow. So many artists. So many Katya: Much music. Shannon Johnson: people. There were people there. Okay, look, I'm 50, and there's people there in their 20s thinking they're still in the 1980s. I loved it. I really did because it's like, okay, Amy: Yeah, yeah. Shannon Johnson: awesome. there was one gentleman. And I found out later that his name was Grady's is Grady Steele. He is with Rock Rebels. Katya: Great name. Shannon Johnson: But the first couple ta days that I saw him, I didn't know didn't know what band he was with. I didn't know him. and I every time I looked, I'm like, that that kid just oozes tame Danes from Fit Faster Pussycat in his in his style of clothing. Amy: yeah. Katya: Okay. Yeah. Shannon Johnson: The hat, the the wide open shirt, the You you know, you know how tame Danes usually do, right? Katya: Yes, I remember, yes, yeah. Shannon Johnson: And I'm like, I love it. So on Saturday we're walking up there and I see him, I go, I don't know who you are. I don't care. Keep rocking that because you remind me of tame Danes and I love it. Just and he's just looking at me like the heck But he said thank you. He was really cool about it. Then we found out the next night Jill she talks she stops him and she starts talking to him. Then she finds out he's the drummer of Rock Rebel, so I'm like Well, that just makes what I did yesterday, Tom. Amy: Hahaha! Shannon Johnson: I was like, my God. Katya: No. No, but that's yeah, you acknowledged him still. So what did you what so Amy: That's Katya: as your first festival, what did you expect first? What surprised you? Amy: yeah. Yeah. Shannon Johnson: What surprised me was really the accessibility. I I Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: mean, you've you've had you've you've got your a lot of them are local artists or smaller known artists, but you've got your artists that are walking about, regular people. You're up up top where you d get to do your photos with them. There's a lot of photo opportunities that you get the chance to see them more. Some they're much more per they're more personable than then Being stuck at the venue. It's a little bit more relaxed than Amy: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: being stuck at a venue, but is just like you walk a lot of the artists had photo opportunities. So you go and you stand in line and you're waiting, and you don't get a photo opportunity with one band. You go through and you've got three Amy: Right. Shannon Johnson: different bands that you're getting your photos taken with. All in the prize, all included in the prize Katya: That looked amazing. Okay. Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: for this. And so Katya: I was gonna ask you that. So it Amy: Wow. Katya: was all included. Wow. Shannon Johnson: So it's yeah, it was all included. So like the first the first set of photos we had, dude, Tora Torah and Bullet Boys. Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: And I'm like All right, yeah, this is cool. And Mark from from Bullet Boys, Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: he is just he is one hell of a personality. It's just like, hi, I love the Bullet Boys. And he's like, thank you. And it's like, Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: well, I did not expect that, you know? And it they're they're Katya: That is fantastic. Amy: Wow. Yeah. Shannon Johnson: real real cool. One of the photos we had taken with cruel intentions, it was on Saturday, and the cruel intentions. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: And we're watching this guy. We had no idea who he was. But we're Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: watching this guy. And every different photo, he's either doing this or he's sniffing your hair, or he's doing funky little faces, and he's just having fun with this thing. So by the time I get up there, I'm kind of like, the hell is he gonna do behind our phone? Amy: I love it. What's it gonna do? Shannon Johnson: He was normal, he was normal. But later we saw them in concert, and I was just like, they are freaking amazing. They're they're a little bit heavier than. the 80s sound, but they're they still got that harmony, that melody, the the guitar sounds that's big, it's loud, it's right there in your face. And you're just sitting there going, this is what it should be about. This is what music should be about. And it was just absolutely wonderful. And they were really good. So it's like right now I'm kind of like telling people, you need to listen to them because they're really good. Katya: So 'cause I I wanted was there any band that surprised Shannon Johnson: We met we Katya: you? Were was was that it? Shannon Johnson: Any band that surprised me on stage and performance, I'm gonna be honest, Katya: yeah. Shannon Johnson: I was really kind of surprised with 38 Special. One, we found out that this year is their that they're releasing a new album and this is their 50th anniversary. I didn't realize 38 Special was 50 years old. I didn't Amy: Wow. Katya: Okay, I was gonna say it's gonna be some it will I say that's like it has always been around. Shannon Johnson: Yeah, they're 50 as of Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: this year. I I'm like, Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: wow. And they were still a tight knit Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: entity on stage. It was Katya: Two musicians. Shannon Johnson: just and their sound was wonderful. Rick Springfield, he was wonderful. John Waite, Katya: I've been watching clips of Rick Springfield. Shannon Johnson: Rick Springfield was wonderful. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: And you know, I got to see John Waite and I was just like, Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: this man is great. Damn Night Ranger, they were freaking phenomenal. I was just like, holy shit. Yes. And Amy: I want to see Night Ranger so bad. Shannon Johnson: of course, I I saw Warrant. It's my fourth time seeing Warrant. And every single time they've kicked ass on stage, and there was no upset on that at all. we they were one of the bands we got our photos taken with. Joey Allen, he's right there at that so when you're walking up, he's giving you little fist bump. And then a little bit later I caught him and I'm like, Can I just have a selfie with you? And he's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was like great, you know, it's awesome to get our photo there. Jeff Scott Soto and Jason Bieler, they were pretty cool. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: they actually because of Brett Michaels having to pull out of Sat his Saturday Katya: yeah. Shannon Johnson: night gig because of his health. Jeff Scott Solo and Jason Beeler stepped up and they were part. They did an extra show. Lita Ford, she cut her photo s short because she did a little Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: bit longer set and ha and she went on a little Katya: Can only afford. Shannon Johnson: bit earlier than what she was initially supposed to. But her birthday's coming up this week. Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: And you know, Jill and I were doing our little talking about Lita Ford before the show. And I'm like, her birthday's the nineteenth of September. So her birthday's in a couple days. I'm like, that's cool. So we get there and she's like, here's. Amy: Yeah. We should have her on the show because then we have a 15, a 17, and a 19. We just have to have that. We have to make that happen. Okay. Okay. Shannon Johnson: See, there you go. And and Katya: We need to Shannon Johnson: Jill, Jill bought her a birthday card. So, okay, we signed this birthday card. Well, because of the stuff with Brett, we weren't able to get our photos taken in the officially with Lita Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: Ford. And she's about ready to leave. And I'm not, Lita, we got a birthday card for you. She ha turned right around. And walked over, took the card, and just gave me a hug. Jill's like, I did not see that coming. Otherwise, I would have had my camera out. So it's like literally the only memory that will ever be of that moment is sitting right up here in mine and Jill's head. At the fact she gave me a hug. And she was Katya: It's that's a great place. That's yeah. Shannon Johnson: just absolutely wonderful in concert. Absolutely Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: a powerhouse. And I've always wanted to see her. So I was I was stoked I Amy: Yeah, she is. Yeah. Shannon Johnson: got to see her. So. Katya: And Amy: That's Katya: was any other artist that you were really looking forward to seeing? Amy: excellent. Katya: I know there was like a hundred, so but what was what was who was on the top of your list to see? Amy: Right? Shannon Johnson: The top points of my n of my of being there. One you get to rock out with a good friend. it Amy: Right. Shannon Johnson: was meeting it was catching up with Joel. And that took a little bit of work to do, scheming behind Katya: Wait, let me just okay, yeah. Shannon Johnson: the scenes and keeping your mouth shut from Helen, keeping it, keeping it quiet and not telling Helen that took a lot of work. But Katya: Okay, so listen, Amy: Yeah. Katya: tell us tell us about that. What tell us what you did Shannon Johnson: Meet meeting up with her. Katya: for the shout out. What w so what are you talking about when you said keeping it away from Amy: Yeah, start that from the beginning. Shannon Johnson: All right. Katya: Helen? 'Cause we know, but I want you to explain what it is. Shannon Johnson: Okay, so Ever everybody who listens to Helen and her her show The Shout Out on Station Head and whoever follows her on Instagram as my shout-out. once you're part of the TSO family, Helen gifts you with some really cool stuff. And yes, yes, yes, the hoodies. Jill got this idea of giving something back. To Helen. So Amy: Bye. Shannon Johnson: Jill had a banner maid. And she's like, it'd be really cool if we could sit there and get this banner. I go, you know, it'd be really cool if we're wearing our TSO shirt and we can get Joel, to sign it or maybe get his photo with it. She goes, You think you can? I go, Katya: And that's Joel Hoekstra, right? Okay. Shannon Johnson: Yes, ma'am. Joel Hoakstrom. Yes. So Amy: I love it when you do that. Shannon Johnson: I'm like, I'll ask. I I I can't I can't guarantee anything. I'll ask. So I sent him a message on Instagram. And I go, hey Joel, a friend of mine, We're gonna catch you and Brandon up there in Gatlinburg. And my friend got a banner made for Helen and I was wondering if we could possibly get you to sign it for Helen. And he's like, I love Helen, yeah. And I'm like, All right. Well then when they did the photo op itinerary Joel and Brandon were not on there and I'm like shit well this sucks so I I messaged Joel I'm like okay you guys aren't on the photo opportunity is there any where he goes you'll figure it out and I'm like all right awesome you Amy: Ha ha ha! Shannon Johnson: know it was it it wasn't he he he he didn't Katya: Challenge accepted. Shannon Johnson: he did he did Amy: you Shannon Johnson: a little bit He did a little bit of laughing. It wasn't like it it was it was anything bad. It was just like, hey, well, you'll f well you'll figure it out. I I've never been there, so I didn't realize it was that easy to figure it out. But it was like, Katya: Right. seriously. Yeah, serious okay, yeah. Amy: Right? Right, yeah. Shannon Johnson: absolutely. So I'm like, Well, Joel's doing a guitar clinic. So let's just take the banner. and see if we can get in after the guitar clinic's over and Well while we're there, there's Brandon with his family. Brandon. And then I got this brilliant idea. Jill, you need to ask Brandon. So she asked him and he's like, but I'm not part of the TSO. I go, Well, on behalf of T of Helen's PR comp I I make you an honorary brother. And Jill started laughing. Katya: I like you. Shannon Johnson: I'm like so you know we got we got him to sign it too. We got our we got J Joel, Jill and I initially and then Brandon, Joel, Jill and I and got picture I took pictures of Joel and Brandon both signing it. And Jill and I, we did our signing on it. she's taking it down to Amy: No. Shannon Johnson: Fl she's taking that banner down to Florida and going to have some people sign it that are there for the October fifteenth show for Def Laper. Amy: That's so awesome. Shannon Johnson: And then she'll send it to Helen and Helen'll have all of our love with her. Amy: Aww, I love that. Katya: That is so well and I also hope that by promoting it, more people are gonna watch the show 'cause it's so yeah, so Amy: Mm-hmm. Katya: fun and so cool. Okay, so I also have Amy: Yeah, they did. Katya: to ask, what was another what is one of the best fan moments that you saw or experienced there? The Amy: yeah. Katya: Joel stor the Joel the Joel one is amazing, but Shannon Johnson: honestly one of the one I'm gonna I'm gonna say it's another Joel moment to be honest with you. Katya: Okay, tell us. Shannon Johnson: at the at the guitar clinic, someone had come in with a guitar that they had bought at auction. And this guitar was originally owned by Randy Rhodes. And he I'm serious, and Katya: No. Well if they bought it in auction, okay. But if they knew it, okay. Shannon Johnson: and he asked Joel to play that guitar. So we got to sit there and watch Joel for 10 minutes just shred on a guitar that was originally owned by Randy Rhodes. And I mean at first, at Katya: Do you know what Shannon Johnson: first he he put it in and tuned it up and got and then he just it was just like Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: it it it it was it was one of those moments that you're just like this is just amazing because that guitar has already been through. quite a bit when you Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: think when you think of who the owner was initially. And now you're looking at another guitar virtuoso that you're just like, this is Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: just absolutely amazing. So that was one of what that Katya: Beautiful. Talks and Amy: Magic. Shannon Johnson: would be one. Yeah. That would definitely be Katya: Okay. Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: one. Another another fan favorite for me actually was, you know, getting Joey Allen to do a selfie with me. That would that was that was that was awesome Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: because it's 'cause well, I don't wanna sit there and put too much out there 'cause I don't know what's going on, but I had a direct message to give him from Helen as well. So it's like, I had to give him a message from Helen Amy: Aww. Shannon Johnson: and I'm like, Can I just give Selfie? And he's like, Yeah. Yeah. Katya: Yeah while we're at it. my goodness. I love. Amy: Yeah. Katya: So in the lineup, where Amy: That's awesome. Katya: did Warrant play? Which night? Shannon Johnson: Warrant played Saturday night. Saturday night. That was a pretty Katya: Was that the biggest night? Or not biggest night, it was all big, but Amy: Awesome. Shannon Johnson: that was a pretty big night, yeah. It was pretty well packed. you had Lita, which again, she was just freaking amazing. Warrant was after Night Ranger, so well so you had Night Ranger, you had John Waite, and then you had Warrant. And it was like Katya: Okay. Amy: you Katya: That's what we have. Shannon Johnson: Great band after great after great. It was just amazing. Katya: How how long were their sets? Were was it were they an hour, hour and a half? Shannon Johnson: They w they it depended. Amy: Yeah, be curious. Shannon Johnson: Warren, I I think Warrant played for about an hour. I think with Warrant it was Katya: Okay. Amy: Okay. Shannon Johnson: about an hour. in that set they did Heaven and Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: they dedicated it to Janie Lane because it that show fell right at one of those time frames, you know, and so they dedicated Katya: Milestones, yeah. Shannon Johnson: the they dedicated the song to to Janie and Robert Mason asked everybody, he's like, Everybody turn on your flashlight on your phone. He goes, used to do the the lighter thing, so now do the phone thing. Amy: Get your lighters out! Shannon Johnson: You know. so you could see all these lights throughout this whole area and it was it was beautiful. It It really all it really just dust at that point in time got in my eye and I had to clean that out. It was one of those moments, you know. Katya: Beautiful. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: Lita Fort, she played her twin neck guitar and dedicated dedicated Close My Eyes Forever to Ozzy on Saturday Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: Saturday night. So that was another one of those moments that you're just like I can't take anymore. Amy: man. Katya: Wow. Wow. Shannon Johnson: It was beautiful, it was great. Sebastian Bach, Sebastian Bach completely tore it apart. He was amazing. And I years Amy: Did Shannon Johnson: ago I saw Kiss on their original for farewell tour when they Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: had Skid Row Katya: The original verbal. Shannon Johnson: and Ted Nugent open. So you you know this was like a long time ago, right? And Amy: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Shannon Johnson: so when I got these tickets, I was like Skid Row, awesome. I didn't realize That Sebastian Bach was no longer with Skid Row and hadn't been. And Amy: at that point. Shannon Johnson: well, you know, at that point in time, we didn't social media was not as huge of a thing. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: So it's not like it was front page news within 30 minutes after it happens. And so I didn't realize when I went to see Skid Rowe that I was not seeing the Skid Row that I knew. So the fact that I got to see Sebastian Bach. was one of those moments that I was just like, this guy's freaking awesome. What stunk was yes. Yes. And Amy: Did he do the thing with the microphone? Did he spin it like you're like, my God, somebody's gonna die. Shannon Johnson: you're just like, I I'm just sitting there going, one day that's gonna hit you upside the head, dude. He was just amazing. Still hitting notes, he's throwing out frisbees to everybody. Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: I'm like, yes, we are at a beach party. That's not a beach party with Sebastian Bach basically. It's just like this is just Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: one of those and he y you see him, he's in there signing these frisbees and just tossing out. And I was like Wow. And it was really good because earlier that day we were supposed to have our photo opportunity with him and Stephen Pearcy and and and bad Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: marriage. And they cut it they cut it off after people had been waiting Amy: you Shannon Johnson: for like an hour and a half to get in there, the event cut it off. So there was some re there was still a very long line that was really, really, really, really upset. And Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: where the artists were in were coming out of the room, people were lined up there. So I did see Stephen Pierce and Warren D Martini. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: If I ever get a chance to see them again, it won't happen. It will not happen. the Stephen Pierce, he's just complet Stephen Pierce, he just completely turned his head up and ignored anybody who was trying to get his attention, get a photo of him. He was a I'm Katya: okay. Shannon Johnson: too big for his bridges. Nice way to put it. Katya: Okay, fair. Amy: Hmm. Shannon Johnson: Sebastian Bach, however, he came out and he's giving everybody high fives. I got a fist bump from him. He's stopping for certain ones that he c that were close enough that he'd do little selfies with him as he's as security's trying to get him to go backstage. And then Katya: So you know what? That surprises me. That from all the perception that I have of him, he wouldn't have done that. So thank you for sharing that. Cause that yeah. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: So and he was he was great. And then the band of bad marriage, Jill and I had caught them earlier in the afternoon when they played. And we had caught the singer at one point, and we're like, yeah, we're gonna be doing the photo op. Well, when he when we saw him, we're like, they cut us off and we didn't get to do the photo op. And he goes, Well, let's just do it now. So I Amy: Ohhhh Shannon Johnson: got my photo taken with him. We got our photos with him. There are other people, people are sitting there. Hey, do you mind using my do you mind taking handing you their phone? Can you take Amy: Aww. Shannon Johnson: a photo with me here? Absolutely. Taking you're taking photos, hey, do you mind grabbing me? You know, or hmm, however. and that was how it happened, really happened with some of the monkey boys. But it was just one of those things that it was just like Katya: monkey Tell us about the monkey boys. Shannon Johnson: they're sweet. They are sweet. They are absolutely, they are so Into the music, they're wonderful. they're nice, they're they're just the sweetest, nicest guys, and they really have so much fun. They're totally into the music, they're into the vibe, they're into the scene. It's like, yes, it gives you hope for. Amy: How did you run into them? Katya: Yeah, it's like were they just walking Amy: Yeah, yeah. Katya: around or a booth? Okay. Shannon Johnson: They were, they were just walking around actually. And it's so funny. So the first day when we first ran into Jill and I stopped and we had our photos taken at the festival banner, the mountain on the music festival where you got Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: your little Sasquatch and bear on the banners. And then she then we're walking to go get into line for one of our first photo ops. And she's like, Hey, that's the monkey boys. I'm like Yeah. And she hands me her phone. I'm like, okay. And so, take a couple photos with her with her with them. And then they're like, you? I'm like, yeah, yeah, of course. You know. Katya: Okay. Shannon Johnson: So then after I shared that photo in the TSO chat. Amy says, we've been trying to get them on the show. I'm like, that would be really cool. So we're outside at one point while Jill's Jill's taking a little break. We're taking a break in the fresh air, and I see them walking. And I'm like, hey, so here's the deal. I go. I got a I got a couple of friends that they do this podcast called Rock the Life And they want you on the show. You go, who Who do I need to tell them to reach out to them to get you on there? We don't really check our IG, but if you tell her to go ahead and message, we'll keep an eye on it. Katya: also have so besides Grady Steele, were they some of the best dressed guys there? Amy: yeah. Shannon Johnson: They were, they were, yes. they really were. I would s also say that Joel Hoekstra was and was dressed absolutely I he does. I do not s Amy: my gosh. He has impeccable style. I don't think I've ever seen him not look awesome. Shannon Johnson: no, and and But it's one thing I gotta say. I didn't really catch it, Jill did. So when we get back to have Joel the photos and the banner, I'm like, Joel? And before I could really even get Joel out, he turns around and says Shannon. And I'm like Yes, hi. Katya: Yes. me? Amy: You're like... Bye! Shannon Johnson: We we leave the room and Jill's like, He totally called you out and I'm like, Yes, that's a good thing, right? That's supposed to be a good thing. Katya: Yes, yes. Amy: Yup, yes, yes, he did. Yes, yes, it is. That's awesome. Shannon Johnson: So that was that was really cool too. it was Amy: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shannon Johnson: expected and it read that had that recognition, which was really awesome. And but I did, I had to laugh because I was like, I was not expecting that. And Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: one thing that is cool that evening, when that Sunday evening, we started headed back to our hotel, which our hotel is literally across the street and down like two driveways from the the convention Katya: nice. Okay. Shannon Johnson: center. Katya: So no camping, thank goodness. Okay. Shannon Johnson: Right. Well, we're walking through the parking lot and these two ladies yellow their their nice black escalade. Nice nice vehicle. Watch out, there's a bear. Huh? They're like, there was a bear, there's a bear. So we're walking back to our hotel room, not seeing a bear, but there's people out in the hot tub. So, you know, hey, we just got told there was a bear in the parking lot. The lady, the the the couple in the hot tub goes, yeah, they can't it climbed over the fence and came down through here and then climbed over the fence and left out that way. And we're like Amy: A bear. Katya: Okay. Shannon Johnson: A a bear. A a grizzly bear. And they stayed Katya: I Shannon Johnson: in the hot tub. They didn't even they stayed in the hot tub. I mean, I'll I'll I'll be honest, you know, I've I've seen wildlife up front, but Katya: Okay, I guess mountain music festival in the mountains, I get yeah, okay. Shannon Johnson: Yeah, but it's it's like and and humans have spent so much time feeding wildlife when they're told not to feed the wildlife that when you see the wildlife Katya: Yes, that you don't know the Shannon Johnson: actually intermingling with you, you trip out. Amy: Yeah. Katya: Yeah, no, that would be yeah. Well bears bears are a little big. I give me a cat, give me a wild dog, a ferret, I don't know. An otter. Amy: Yeah. Yeah. I- No, no, no, no, no. I don't even want the wild dog. Shannon Johnson: Yep. Amy: Do not give me Shannon Johnson: Well Amy: a wild dog either. No, no, no, no, no. Otter. Shannon Johnson: Well and it's like, okay, so well, hmm. There was a bear. There was a bear. It climbed over the fence. Amy: There was a bear. Shannon Johnson: Okay, it it it left. And there's Jill texting right into the TSO chat. There's a bear sighting. We can confirm a bear sighting. But no, Shannon was not fed to the bears. It's like Katya: Okay, was anyone else from TSO there? Shannon Johnson: No, it was just us. It'd Katya: Okay. Okay. Shannon Johnson: be cool. It would be cool if I know at one point Brenda was trying, was wanting to go, but some things happened with Katya: lovely. Shannon Johnson: Brenda where she wasn't able to go. So it it didn't work out there. But you know, it'd be cool if maybe if it happens again next year that, you know, more people are able to go because it's it's worth it. I I I don't know what the tickets cost because Jill bought them for me for my for Christmas. That was my Christmas present from Jill. Well, actually it was my birthday present from Jill. A so I don't know how much tickets cost. But when you look Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: at The amount of artists I they their doors open at twelve PM. it was eleven AM Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: this year. They the doors opened at eleven AM. They ended by midnight. That's twelve to thirteen hours of music. Three days. And Amy: Wow. Shannon Johnson: there's opportunity for photos with some of the bands. It's just like Amy: Mm. Katya: That's wonderful. Shannon Johnson: It's a damn good value. Cause you don't see that very much. Yeah. Amy: Yeah. Katya: Right. And quality bands and quality, yeah. No. Shannon Johnson: Yeah. Some qual there were Katya: It's definitely on our list. Shannon Johnson: definitely some quality bands. I Stephen Pierce who was not. I I left not just because of the situation that happened hours prior. But it's it's like listening to him that night, I don't know. He th there were a lot of people who seemed pretty disappointed in his performance at night. So I I don't know, maybe Amy: Aww, yeah. Well. Shannon Johnson: he was sick and maybe Katya: Maybe it's an off night. Amy: Yeah, I. Shannon Johnson: I we're on we're we all do. Amy: since we're gonna obviously be tagging Mountain Music Festival, I'm just gonna plug in if I were able to make it and Katya were able to make it, who we would like to see at Mountain Music Festival. I have some choice bands. I really would like to request Firehouse. I'd like to have Warrant back. Again, I would love to see Leader Forward. Heat would be a great addition. Who else, babe? Katya: Well, I'm obsessed with Eric Gronwald, so Amy: Yeah, and that would be a thing. And Katya: Ha ha. Amy: so those are our top picks for Mountain Music Festival for next year. Yeah, Shannon, who would you want to see that you didn't see this year? Katya: Yeah, who do you want to see? Or repeat. Shannon Johnson: They have if they have Warren Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: again, I I'm down. you know, I'd Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: I'd like to see Youngblood. Youngblood there. I I'd Katya: yeah, okay, me too. Shannon Johnson: like to I'd like to see Youngblood there. I'd like to see the Bullet Boys again. I'd like to see Ted Poley and Danger Dangerous To Danger Danger again. Katya: Ted Hulley. Yeah. Yep. Absolutely. Amy: yeah, I think Lynch Mob Shannon Johnson: George Lynch was amazing. I would like to see Man race, actually. That would be really freaking cool. Man Katya: Man, race would be great. Shannon Johnson: rays or Delta Deep. Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: I'd like to see Katya: Delta D yes. Shannon Johnson: y it w it wouldn't be bad if you could get Dev Leopard in there, but I don't think that that's gonna be one of those those possibilities at this point. They're Katya: I know. I work at well well in An for Lynch Bob Amy: Yeah, I think that would that would bump the ticket prices. Katya: didn't Andrew Freeman pay play for Lynch Bob too? Yeah, that's true. Was was Andrew singing for Lynch Bob? Shannon Johnson: Yes. Yes. Amy: I think Katya: Okay. Shannon Johnson: So one of the photo ops was supposed to be Lynch Mob. Amy: Mm-hmm. Shannon Johnson: One of the photo opportunities was supposed to be Lynch Mop. They pulled out the day of the of the photo. Katya: Okay. Well, I think but I think that kind of tracks for the personality Amy: okay. You know... Shannon Johnson: So Katya: of George Lynch. Shannon Johnson: I've I there's many different rumors that you could hear and Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: most of them had nothing to do with George Lynch. Katya: Okay, okay, fair enough. Fair. But we have pictures Amy: Okay, fair, fair. Shannon Johnson: So Katya: with Andrew Freeman already. We we mobbed him in Vegas. Shannon Johnson: Well, I I've ki I'll be honest with you. I I used to kinda like Andrew Freeman, but there's been some interviews that he's that he's been dissing on. W a very loved guitar player and Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: now I have no respect for him and I don't like him. It is what it is. That's that it is what it Amy: Okay. Yeah. Katya: Okay, fair. Shannon Johnson: is. I mean We don't need to know their dirty laundry, but it's been aired and I don't like the way that it was handled. Amy: That, that makes sense and you know that's one of the things that I really like is being able to share experiences and you know good, bad, and indifferent. Ours was wonderful but Katya: Yeah, no, it's all of it. Amy: I understand that yours was not so you know that makes sense. That makes sense. Katya: But remember when we were young, Amy, Shannon Johnson: Well, it's it's like there's people who have sat there and said Katya: we didn't have a good faster pussycat experience. Shannon Johnson: that Right. And there's people who've had Amy: We had an awful Shannon Johnson: bad bad times with Sebastian Bach. I had a good experience with Sebastian Bach. So yeah. Amy: Yeah, yeah, no, I get that Katya: True too. No, exactly. So I'm so Amy: and Katya: thrilled to hear that. Amy: Yeah, yeah, exactly. we, we did, we had a terrible, Shannon Johnson: Right. And when you do have those good experiences, it's great. Amy: we, yeah, we had a terrible Faster Pussycat experience. Terrible. No, Shannon Johnson: wow. Katya: No, no, no, no. Not with all the whole band, Amy. Not with the whole band. Amy: not with, yeah, Shannon Johnson: Uh-huh. Amy: you're right, you're right, you're right. With the singer, I won't even, you already talked about him. So we were like, when you're Katya: With the singer. Yeah. Not with the whole band. Shannon Johnson: Of of all the people. Amy: saying that, I'm like, all right. Katya: But no but but any we you do catch people on their off days, right? Or when they've had enough or yeah. Shannon Johnson: Never seen right? Amy: Yes. Shannon Johnson: Right. every everybody has their off days, so it it it happens. And that's why I said with Stephen Pearcy it it was probably just an off day all the way around. And and I can respect that, but Katya: Maybe sixty off day. Amy: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: It it it it it put Amy: Yeah! Shannon Johnson: it put a damper. It put that damper there that you're just like, Man, if Katya: It I see that, absolutely. I see that. Shannon Johnson: I have a I would never spend money on you again, so to speak. So Amy: That's the Katya: I see that. Amy: hard thing. I, after that actually happened, I didn't listen to Faster Pussycat for probably 20 years, honestly, because it was like, man, Katya: Amy held a grudge. Amy: I did, well, okay, Shannon Johnson: That's okay. I'm hoping Amy: here's what it was. I'm gonna tell you the story. We've never publicized this story because obviously we wanna bring that hit of dopamine and so we've never said anything negative, but. we were at Motley Crue on the Dr. Feel Good tour and we were there. We saw them two nights in Katya: We were wee biscuits. Amy: Oakland. Yeah, and we were very young. but the thing was, was that we saw Faster Pussycat show up to the venue in a Holiday Inn van. And so we're like, we're going to go to Holiday Inn. And we did. so and Katya: Wait Amy, was it because we were stalkers? Shannon Johnson: Okay. Amy: then we walk in. Anyway, you know, not what is it neither confirm nor deny anyway, so we went to the holiday and we walked into the lounge and the band is just there and You said it differently than I've known to say it. So but Tammy was like get the fuck out and we're like whoa Shannon Johnson: Wow. Amy: And the other guys were just sweet and took pictures with us and all that other kind of stuff. And the girl he was with nudged him or whatever. And it was like, OK. But it was rude. And it was like there was no whatever reason. I mean, we don't know the night he had. But I mean, as soon as we walked in the door, that's what was said. Shannon Johnson: Well, I Amy: So it kind of sucked. Katya: I am I am looking at the time right now. Amy: You never know. Yeah. Katya: Okay, so Shannon, Shannon Johnson: Okay. Katya: we have we're gonna have five rapid fire questions, or maybe a few more, because sometimes I we get great ideas. first thing that come to mind doesn't have to be a short answer, but Amy: Right? Katya: just no thinking about it. Okay. What song made you fall in love with music? Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley. Katya: Ooh, nice because you were at his concert. So I was like, how old were you? You were like, Amy: okay. Uh-huh. In utero. Katya: yeah. In utero. Amy: I need Shannon Johnson: Has Amy: a rope. Shannon Johnson: in Europe. Katya: What is s what is something that music has taught you about people? Shannon Johnson: That is a musical it's it's a language of love that d has more emotion than what you can do in a general conversation. It knows no boundaries, it is blind to hatred. Amy: I love that. I love that answer. Katya: and because we have we have we have some definitely musical loves. Okay, favorite Deaf Leopard album. Okay, good. Okay, no. Amy: Okay. Shannon Johnson: There's no question about that. No question about that. Slang is my favorite Def Leppard album and the overture off of their very first album, On Through the Night, is my favorite song. Katya: Okay, there we go. Amy: Okay. Katya: how many times have we seen Def Leppard? Shannon Johnson: Ten. Katya: Okay. Best show Amy: Nice. Katya: of Jeff Leppard? Shannon Johnson: my God, best show with for Def Leopard. I am going to say July of twenty twenty four when I got to go backstage and meet them. Amy: Were you in Atlanta? Shannon Johnson: Yes, ma'am. Amy: was in Atlanta? Where were you sitting? Shannon Johnson: my god, I was sitting by Sal's side. I don't remember. Katya: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: I was I was I was on Amy: Okay, were you in the pit? Shannon Johnson: the floor. I was I was not in the pit, but I was kinda close to the pit and kinda close to the Amy: Dude, I should look back at my pictures. We may not have been far from each other. Can you even imagine? We Shannon Johnson: So we were at a show together and didn't even know it. Amy: didn't even know it because Katya: Yeah. Amy: I was... Okay, so you know how they had the stage was in the shape of an because you had Shannon Johnson: Mm-hmm. Amy: the things on this are a W. I'm gonna, it's gonna look like a W from here. So you had the stage here and then you had the main stage here and then you had the runway right here. And then you had pit Shannon Johnson: Right. Amy: here and pit here. And then... At the front where all of the legs of the meet, there were seats there. I was third row back from there. That's where I was. Shannon Johnson: I was sixth row, I think it was sixth row, and I was the eighth seat from the stage. Katya: You guys were like staring at each other. Amy: Okay, so we really were. We really were. I'll show you my pictures and I was like, I was this close! Shannon Johnson: You sh you show me yours, I'll show you mine. Amy: I was in this seat. Katya: Yeah, I'll show you. Amy: Yeah, right? Done. Shannon Johnson: Mine are all on Facebook. Amy: not Katya: Okay, so Amy: all of mine are. Katya: We're we did some of yours on the show. Amy: Mm-hmm, we did. Katya: Mm. Okay, so so this is another question for you. standing or sitting at a concert? Or I say seats or not standing Shannon Johnson: Mm-hmm. Katya: or sitting, seats or free flow. What do you call that? General admission. Amy: I think s- Shannon Johnson: I prefer I really I I really prefer being able to s stand. I enjoy being able to get into the music. I have found Amy: Yeah. Yeah. Katya: metra. Shannon Johnson: that I'm getting a little older and my legs got tired throughout the week and up in Gatlinburg to where I sat a little more than I would at a at a two or three hour show, but you know, like during warrants warrants that Katya: Thirteen hours fair. Shannon Johnson: yes, thirteen hours three days a week is kinda hard. It's kinda hard on the whole body. But it was still I still spent a lot of time standing up. I really do enjoy standing up and just being able to I Amy: Rock out. Shannon Johnson: there's something about the base that just makes me want to move. Katya: favorite beverage at a concert. Shannon Johnson: Worse Katya: Okay. And whose album who Shannon Johnson: Course I yep. But not I don't drink I don't get stupid drunk, so it's like a couple here and I'm good. Yeah, absolutely. Katya: Yeah, you can't you don't want to ruin it. Yeah, we do. Amy: Yeah, Katya: Which band's album are you looking forward to coming out in the next year? Or even if they don't have one, that they should have one. Shannon Johnson: Deaf Leopard. Amy: The whole thing! There's a whole thing happening next year! Katya: In the whole documentary too, all of it is yeah. Shannon Johnson: They they're g they are sell they have already started giving us a big bang for the fiftieth. I I would love to see I would love to see what happened. Amy: I don't know. Did Katya: We lost you. Amy: you hit your camera? Katya: I hear you. I just can't see you. Amy: her Katya: Okay. So Shannon Johnson: Okay. Katya: yeah. Shannon Johnson: So for Duff Leopard's Katya: yeah. Shannon Johnson: fiftieth and fiftieth year and God dang, it's so hard to believe that they're fifty. But they're great and they don't look it. Katya: I well they did s they literally started when they were children. They literally were like almost toddlers, yeah. Shannon Johnson: Right. Right. But what I would love to see happen is that this upcoming tour in twenty twenty seven, that it's not about the hits. It's not about what made them. Amy: Mm. Shannon Johnson: It's about the albums. You you got X amount of time, I get it, but take something from every single album because every single one of those albums was your stepping stone to where you are today. So give Katya: Yeah. Shannon Johnson: Give your fan give give you and give your fans that time capsule that musical time capsule that is just going to be the ultimate ear orgasm that we all need, you know? Amy: Okay. Katya: Well and I'm gonna say this Amy: So Katya: is like Def Leppard needs to do the Aeros Tour all over again, including I want costume Shannon Johnson: Yeah. Katya: changes, don't need the backup dancers, although I love them, but I think we'll do a like Taylor Swift version of the Aeros tour for Def Leppard. Shannon Johnson: Just just just just hit up the T SO family for those backup dancers. I'm sure f you got we got some girls in there who wouldn't mind. Katya: Yeah, it's like, actually we could do it. We could totally be the backup I can do the backup air guitar. I don't know, I can come up with something. Amy: Or heck, the song selection N Right, hit us up for the song selection though, seriously. Shannon Johnson: Give me give me the bass I'll I'll back like the bass just. Katya: we lost Amy. Shannon Johnson: no. Amy: my gosh, Shannon. Katya: Shannon, thank you. And again, not say thank you, but at the same time, now we have to plan for a whole plan what we're gonna be doing Amy: Another thing. Katya: next year. Amy: Yeah. look, it even says trying to reconnect. Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Shannon Johnson: Thank you so much for having me. Katya: and also and Shannon Shannon Johnson: Ha ha ha. Amy: Just go, it'll be what it is. Katya: Shannon, where can people find you? On socials. Shannon Johnson: I am on Instagram at Shan Marie1976. you can also follow on Instagram follow Daily Dose of Sav. That is my Rick Savage page in dedication to him and Def Lubbert. on Facebook, it's just Shannon Johnson and Yes, Daily Dose of Sav is on Facebook too. And Amy: Love that. Shannon Johnson: if you just wanna listen to non-top music for a couple hours in the morning, that's Stationhead in Chamory nineteen seventy-six. Katya: Yeah, that's it. I mean Shannon Johnson: We lost Amy again. Katya: We did. But I think she'll still be able to record us because it yeah. Shannon Johnson: It's yeah, it's still showing. It's counting down in red. Or counting up in red. Katya: Yes, that is Okay, well Shannon, thank I look I hope to meet up in person and until then we'll be like listening on the radio or the the radio. So funny to call it the radio. What do we call I guess do we call Shannon Johnson: But it is Katya: it the radio? Do we call it the radio? Shannon Johnson: Why not? It's a new form. Katya: Yeah, I guess yeah, streaming radio, I guess. I don't yeah. Shannon Johnson: It it it's a new form of music. It's a great form. I I love I love the community that we that Helen was able to build in Stationhead. Sh she's Katya: Yes. Shannon Johnson: done really well on on that and I'm really proud of her Katya: It really it Shannon Johnson: for her as long as she's done this. Katya: And it just makes me so happy every time I listen. Yeah, it just it's really one of those things where it's my feel good moments. And I can't with the timing, I can do some of the nights, but other sometimes it comes on at like one or three AM. But like when I do listen to it, I love it. Yeah. Shannon Johnson: Right. Which is the best part about replay. Yeah. And the fact that Stationhead ha Stationhead has right replay. AMP didn't. So if you guys would have been listening to our AMP and you're where you're at, you know, you wouldn't be able to catch replays. Katya: You totally miss Okay, I'm gonna look for that. I've never done replay on it. Shannon Johnson: yeah. Katya: I always thought if I missed it, I missed it. Okay, I'm gonna go explore it. Shannon Johnson: see, so now that I know that, I'm gonna have to pull up one of her interviews with Phil for you and have Amy send that to you. Because yes, Katya: I would love it. Shannon Johnson: Phil has done taking notes and he did a couple years back, he did one for slang for the slang anniversary. So I'll have to tell Amy, Katya: 'cause I thought once they were over 'cause I just love listening and jump yeah, I just enjoy it. Shannon Johnson: Yeah, this with station head you get replays, so definitely catch them. Katya: Okay, I'll be doing that. okay. So lovely, Shannon. I wanna talk to you more. We don't have to do it on recording. Shannon Johnson: Thanks. We'll talk to you later. You stay safe. Bye. Katya: Okay, I will. Take care. Bye bye. Well, Amy, we knew that Shannon was one of us, but she is totally Amy: Right. Katya: one of us. yeah, she's she's in the crew. She's definitely been part of our crew and is our crew. loved everything Amy: Yeah, yeah. She is a rock the life girl. Katya: The TSO poster, the shout out poster. I have my picture of Helen up right there too. Amy: Nice. Katya: having people sign it, connecting with fans, me other music fans like Amy: Mm. Katya: us while she was at the festival. it made me giddy with excitement as I was watching what she was doing and what she was posting Amy: Right. Katya: and how much fun she was having. And it was incredible. Amy: I know and I loved her and so appreciate her monkey boys story and how she's like, my gosh, my my friend has a podcast. And so hopefully that will lead us somewhere. Hint hint maybe. Shannon, thank you so much for coming on the show and sharing your story with us. And I can't wait to talk more with you. I can't wait to hopefully meet you at some point because Lord have mercy, kindred spirits, a hundred percent. So she's great. Katya: Absolutely. And until Amy: Yeah. Katya: then, we will be we'll be sending her messages Amy: Mm-hmm. Katya: on the shout out where we listen to where we listen to Amy: Yep. Katya: Helen. Amy: Yep. The shout out on Stationhead.
