- 0:00[upbeat music] [laughs] Now, man, what, what are you doing over there? Just trying to save some lights.
- 0:18Doing some miniature- Salvage a little light with a little dielectric grease. All right. [laughs] Little, little pre-show banter post-show. Yeah. No, uh, why not? No, just- Hey. Hey, everybody... just sniffing glue.
- 0:30Yeah, come on in. Oh, there goes Kathy. Let's see here. Wow, everything's happening. Full, full spectrum cycling. Everything. Show, show number 83 we decided, I believe, this week. Yes, indeed.
- 0:40When T-Burger came in, I thought that was a- another police car going by when his light was flashing in the morning. [laughs] That is a, that is a good one, isn't it? It is a bright, flashy light.
- 0:50You know, folks, it's that time of year when you should start thinking about bright, flashy lights. When- The sun goes to bed a lot earlier, and it only will further next month. Yeah.
- 1:00When does, uh, when does DST go away? All Hallows' Eve, I believe. Ah. Oof. Perfect timing. Or All Saints' Day, technically, I guess. I don't know.
- 1:09I don't think, uh, our, our neighborhood is not having the tricking or treating this year. Oh, that ain't stopping anybody from coming. [laughs] You know? I mean, come on. Like, I'm, I'm still preparing for it.
- 1:20I'm still preparing to not be around- Do you have-... that day. [laughs] Oh, right... let's put it that way. I, I build it all... It, it was nice when, yeah, they'd give you the hours. Yeah. You know?
- 1:29So- So you'd look-... so you'd be like, "Okay"... so you'd know when not to be there. Exactly, or if, you know, you had to hunker down, you hunkered down towards the back of the house.
- 1:37Well, how, how high is- [laughs] Tony's house is pretty high above the street. How high is it, do you think? About 15 feet above the ground? Yeah, probably a good 15, 10.
- 1:43So you get, like, a four-inch PVC tube with a little- Slider down there... launcher on the end of it. Absolutely. You could probably get it to go almost across the street. Betcha I could.
- 1:52Or, or, or take somebody out as they're standing in front [laughs] of it. That's true.
- 1:55My, my, my [laughs] buddy posted a pic going like, "I figured out my Halloween delivery system," and it was a bag of candy corn and a wrist rocket. [laughs] I'm thinking- It's like, yeah, man.
- 2:05I'm thinking maybe kids are getting billiard balls this year through- [laughs]... through the old tube system. Or do the Mike Larret, what was a, a big bin of condiments [laughs] for restaurants.
- 2:16Hey, everybody, here's a public service announcement for y'all out there. Uh, practice safe sex. Use condiments. [laughs] All right. This show's not getting any better after then. Oh, yeah, yeah. Good night, everyone.
- 2:30[laughs] Yeah, thank you very much and call- Well, uh-... come again next week... yeah, it was bikes. Yeah. Uh- We'll, uh, bring it back to, um... So I see, uh, you got yourself there a bike there.
- 2:37I understand it, uh, pretty good looking bike there, Greg. Bikes. Here's the thing about bikes. People are buying them right now. That's, they are.
- 2:45Uh, it was, uh, already fat bike week here at, uh, the Everyday Cycle Shop. Mm. Two, two Wednesdays out the door, and I think, uh, folks, if you want a fat bike this year, you probably wanna do it before the snow flies.
- 2:58Yeah. Because, uh, it's looking like people are gonna wanna be riding outside in the, in the crazy times, which is a good thing. Weird times. Yes, it is. And that Wednesday, that's a nice bike right there. That's, yeah.
- 3:13I see you got the, uh, the rear tire in the direction they claim it should go, too. Yeah. No, no, the old one didn't go in that direction. That just really doesn't bother you.
- 3:21The old one went the same way as the front one. That bothers me. You're welcome to flip it around if you want. Yeah, yeah. You're welcome to flip it off if you want. Yeah.
- 3:28So here's a, here's a, here's a conversation I had with the nice lady that bought the, the Wednesday here in the store today was, uh, the, you know, the 170 versus 190, 177, 197, blah, blah, blah.
- 3:40She kinda came in looking for an ice cream truck, but she only recently went back to riding and has a straggler, and we discussed this Q factor factor- Uh-huh... and how much
- 3:51sometimes on those really, really, really wide bikes, you know, certain people's bodies, their, your hips will get a little- Out of joint... a little...
- 3:59Well, you're just, you know, you're riding a dang old horse out there. Uh-oh, here he comes. [laughs] Um- Maybe that's how it all happened. But it's like, I don't, I'm not, uh, I'm not
- 4:10totally sold on the 197 platform for everything. I think if you're gonna have one fat bike, you might wanna consider a 170 bike, especially since you can get them right now- Yeah...
- 4:21versus the ICT, which is not yet currently available. Yeah. Stun. That, that's a darn nice set up bike, too. Oh my God. And, uh, it's, you know, 1x12 like all the kids are doing these days, and- All the kids...
- 4:33got some hydro brakes on there. Oh, yeah. Got your Nates, got your Surly Nate tires on there, even though one's put on backwards. Yeah. Don't worry about it. Yeah, just ride your bike. I don't know.
- 4:41People, I mean, Huber was a big fan of putting tires on backwards. Yeah, he did like to do that. Oh, yes, I do. I still like my rear, what is it, set up as a shovel. The Endomorph? Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:52I think it's great backwards. Right, if you're in the, whatever conditions you're riding in, I think you could make an argument for both ways. Yeah. Except on the front, no. The front always goes the proper direction.
- 5:02Yeah. Strung upside down for a left-handed m- genius man. Wow. Wow. Jimmy. My lord. Right on. Uh, got a delivery from Joe at Sturdy Bag Designs today with a couple interesting pieces in it.
- 5:17Uh, probably since I didn't take pictures of anything this week, we should show the good folks. We, we got in the mini pannier, which to, to be fair- To be fair...
- 5:29is a little smaller than I kind of inferred from the picture 'cause I have the regular ones. I'm like, "Ooh, those little mini ones look kinda cool for the front or, or for your day trip on the rear maybe." I don't know.
- 5:41But they are- Be hard-pressed... put it this way. They're very nicely made, no matter what you think of the size. I think everything Joe- Put that there. Put that there... I think every...
- 5:50What the hell are you guys doing over there? I think every- Winter twin powers. I think everything Joe makes is really well-made. He just does as good a job as anybody, and probably better than most on any of his bags.
- 6:00Yeah, and he takes, he puts a lot of pride in those things. They look great. We got some feed bags. We got some top tube bags. We got some, uh, seat bags. I like his seat bag a lot actually. Nice.
- 6:10It's, uh, it's just, it's a, it's more of a- I, I wouldn't call it a bike-packing seat bag. It's not that big. Mm.
- 6:16But as far as, you know, being able to jam a shell in and your, uh, your f- fix kit and stuff, it's, it's a nice size. Maybe a snack. And then, then we got the custom, got the custom bag for Sam D. That is...
- 6:31We have to take pictures of that too. I th- I think this thing... Yeah, we should take pictures. I think it's fully optioned out. It's got the, it's got the top tube weavy thing. Yeah.
- 6:39It's got the holy deals for putting it by the bottle cage. It's got the- Oh, that's what those are for... extra- I thought those were drain holes... map pocket. It's got the- So those are water bottles... very...
- 6:48It's got a huge zipper garage right there. Zipper garage. Yeah, it does. A nice zipper garage. That's like a two-car zipper garage. Right? So yeah. And it...
- 6:57And if you have a custom frame bag made by Joe at Sturdy Bike Designs, he does take your own damn stickers and sew them on there for... Or s- uh, patches, and sew them on there for you.
- 7:09This has the bike black ribbon and the, and the gnome. Patches the Clown. [singing] What even does... That, is that, is that actually Gomez or is it just a Gnomez? I think it's a Gnomez. A Gnomez.
- 7:20[laughs] Anyway- It's your listening caller. [laughs] He did this in, he did this in the, some really nice material, and I think- That is the, the logo of, uh, the Gnomecast, I do believe. Which is Gnomez's thing, so.
- 7:33Yes. Right on. Hey. Yeah, yeah. It all makes sense. Hey, where's the thing? Oh. Where... Oh, there it is. Hey. [bell ringing] Hello. Well, hello. It was a, it was a quick ride to the top of the hill today, folks. It is.
- 7:44Sure did. Mostly because we had been having- Maybe we were all on e-bikes... we were drinking these before the show too. Uh, Tony brought this. It's Central Waters Rift IPA.
- 7:56I believe it's brewed in Candon, somewhere Wisconsin. Amherst. Amherst, yep. Yeah, I had a gr- Oh... I had a growler of this a few months- Is that over by the Madison or...?
- 8:04No, it's, uh, over by, uh, well, I always go to the, uh- Held's? Uh, no, it's not by Held's. [laughs] It's a little further. Ha, thank you. Um, it is by Custer, Wisconsin, which is where- Don't know where that is...
- 8:19they do the energy fair every year. So there's OSO on one side and, and Central Waters on the other. So- Is it in the center, central part of the state? Cen- yeah, is that where Whitewater is? Kinda makes sense.
- 8:29Ma- no, Whitewater's south. No, okay. I, I always get that wrong. Maybe it's by Wausau. It's not nearly as far as Wausau. Okie dokie. So I, y- you go to- London? Y- you go just past [laughs]...
- 8:41You go just past- I think we're gonna name every city... Oshkosh, hang a left. Well, that'll, that'll take some time. Yeah. We'll go through every city in Wisconsin.
- 8:46You go just past Oshkosh, hang a left, drive about 40 minutes. So where does that get you? You have a computer right there in front of you. Over there by some big ass prison, isn't it? By Waupun? Uh, it- Oscobo?
- 8:55[sighs] [laughs] We're just gonna start. Prairie du Chien. No, it's not there. Uh. [laughs] Eau Claire. No, it's not that far. Black River Falls. [laughs] No.
- 9:04Anyway, folks, it's a good brewery 'cause we've had their beer before, and this- It is a tasty brewery... this Rift IPA is, uh, do, do, do, what is... Uh, I'm just gonna read. 6.75. Oh. Oh my. Oh my.
- 9:19Uh, "Over five breeds of herons have made their home in the Great Rift Valley region of Kenya. Likewise, we have taken their lead by [laughs] by creating- He's like, "What are you doing? What are you-"...
- 9:30by creating an- "... feeding me?"... an IPA blended with five different hops. [laughs] "Blanketed over a foundation of clean malt, featuring a Simcoe Centennial and Citra hops, this is our take on an American IPA."
- 9:44I like how they wove Kenya in there. That was a, that was a... Is that in the center of Africa over there? [laughs] I, I am not exactly sure of my...
- 9:55I can point it out on a map probably, but not tell you where it is verbally, I guess. Yeah, this is where- Yep, my geography is- Yeah, this is where my-... suspect...
- 10:03you know, the blue pie piece in Trivial Pursuit- Especially-... always fails me. [laughs] Right? And- It's like, "No, don't! Not the blue-" In, in places where- Stephen's Point. It's very close to Stephen's Point.
- 10:11Where's Stephen's Point? You know, we should rename that Sven's Point. Sven's Point. Svensen's Point. We should invade. Stephen's Point is a nice place. Yeah, my niece went to school there. To be from.
- 10:24Yes, it's, uh, 12 hours and six minutes if you said ride there from bike from here. Huh. How fast do you have to be going to do that? I, I'm guessing that's the average speed.
- 10:31They generally tend to, you know, so- Going the town?... 12, 12, 13. Like 42 miles an hour on your e-bike? Yeah. [laughs] No kidding.
- 10:38[laughs] There's been some compelling e-bikes out there lately that are like, they're head scratchers. It's like, how are you building this for this price? Um- And, and claiming that it's- China... top quality.
- 10:48Yeah, I know. China. But- Chinese China... and there's that company making the scooters that are, they're, they're moped style, and they're gonna be, like, fully customizable.
- 10:56I kinda like that idea- That is kinda cool... almost more than having it m- look like a bicycle. If you're gonna throw a motor at it, why not make it look like- Why not make it look like a- Yeah... a motorcycle?
- 11:02Yeah, I totally agree with that. Yeah. Than it is. Yeah. And it's, it's got a scooter platform, so it's got spring suspension and a, a seat for two. You know what I mean? Like a tow. Oh, like, like Vespa style? Kinda.
- 11:15But, but more like, um, old- Not where the people are just sitting there wearing their flips when they- Yeah... cross their legs- Yeah, kinda... and ride like this- Kinda...
- 11:21and have the long board hanging over their shoulder. It's got ve- it's got vestigial pedals on it even though it's not really- No... a pedal bike. It's- Some of them do have pedals, though. Yeah.
- 11:29This one does actually have- Right, vestigial. They're just like little short things. But- Like little- No, this-... Tyrannosaurus rex arm looking things on there...
- 11:35maybe, maybe it's- I don't know if you can hear my disdain dripping from my- [laughs]... fangs during this Halloween season. Happy Halloween, everyone.
- 11:42I'll tell you what is nice is that Grin all motor, all, all axle motor thingy. Is it? Yeah, it's great, isn't it? You got that out, huh? I, uh, yeah. Well, I, it, it just drops right in there.
- 11:52You got your different, uh, your different- Axle... standards for the, for the fork that you can do a 15 through axle, a 20 through axle, a nine millimeter quick release, whatever. And it just b- wrap in...
- 12:05There's no filing. There's no making your fork unsafe. There's none of that bullshit. There's just- Wow... it fits right, and it's very nice, and it's not that heavy. I'm impressed. Um, power-wise, what'd it feel?
- 12:16Oh, you don't wanna know how much power it has. It has lots of power Well, I just don't want someone to get hurt. That's what I'm getting at. I, I like- Right.
- 12:22That's why we're lowering the voltage on these things And nicknamed it Stanley, you know, like the power drill I think on the...
- 12:28I think ma- peak output on the thing's, like, 2,400 watts if it's, like, really loaded down, but that's not gonna last very long Yeah, right It's more like 1,000 watt range. Front?
- 12:40I just, you know, this whole wattage thing pisses me off because- I know, it's not accurate... it's all totally dependent on load. It doesn't... There is no 1,000 watt hub.
- 12:47It's a 100 watt hub if you're not using much, and it's a 1,500 watt hub if you are. Ah, whatever. Yeah. Hey, this is the electric bike portion of the show, sponsored by, I don't know. Who wants to sponsor us? Right?
- 13:00Send us money, bike- Maybe, maybe the baby maker guy. No, not him. Wouldn't take him? Wouldn't take his money? Wouldn't take him. No, just- I'd take his money. He's got lots of money. He probably does, but you know what?
- 13:09His story's just pathetic. But it could be. But he's a brah, bro. That's exactly- Or is he a bro, brah? Brah. Brah. Mm-hmm.
- 13:16I actually had to have, like, a little back and forth on the Facebooks with this guy who I posted that, you know, that's the most ridiculous battery to change, and w- who's gonna service it?
- 13:25He's like, "I called a bike shop and described it to them, and they said they'd probably do the work for about $40." I'm like, "Don't go to that bike shop." Yeah, no. Yeah. I mean- That, that...
- 13:36There's no way you're gonna drop a fork,
- 13:39uh, you know, take off the badges, disconnect the electric, and pull a battery out and put it back in for 40 bucks Well, if it took 20 minutes, I'd do it for 40 bucks, but- Yeah, and it ain't gonna take 20 minutes...
- 13:49[laughs] it's not gonna take 20 minutes. No way. No way. And even then, you're not getting... Yeah, I suppose you would be getting roughly an okay salary for- An okay rate... for a wrench. But yeah, no, I...
- 14:00That was just like, "Dude, you're crazy." And then I thought he was commenting on how much it would take. They do have a Gates belt drive, by the way. Is it a real Gates? It is, actually.
- 14:07I went to their website to confirm. Not- But- Not Chinese Gates? [laughs] But he said, uh... I said, "Oh, so there's, they're telling you it would cost you $40 to have the belt changed?"
- 14:16I'm like, "Yeah, that might be about right." That seems a little more realistic. Mm-hmm. But he's like, "No, not the belt, the battery." I'm like, "Oh, no, that's bullshit." [laughs] Yeah.
- 14:23Your battery is ready, Master Gates. So speaking of good deals, I had, uh, Al help me out a little bit last week packing up some bikes. Oh, did ya? Yep. I was working in the shop right alongside of him, though. You know?
- 14:35Nice. That's how that works. [laughs] Uh, we got... You know how many bikes we have from our partner? 23 bikes have come in. [laughs] It's like we gotta, we gotta get these bikes out of here. For, for Zize? Yeah. Yep.
- 14:50Yep. This is Zize? We got now four to do E-conversions on and- Let me know... all sorts of stuff. I have some time. Well, this one is gonna need...
- 14:57We just gotta reprogram the, uh, controller and stuff Controller and stuff, right on It'll be simple. That's where that wheel's going?
- 15:03Yep, and then new batteries came for the next two, and, uh, hubs are stuck in customs right now. Thanks, FedEx. So I l- I learned about it on Sunday.
- 15:11[laughs] I called them on Monday, got the scoop, got the form, f- filled it out, sent it back to the email. Tuesday I got another email from a different person. Need this form filled out.
- 15:22Called that person, said, "Here's what I did. Here's the email I sent it to." 'Cause they give you a number so they can reference it. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. It's n- it's like a generated email.
- 15:31And then Wednesday, today, some lady calls again, I mean, uh, emails, and it's a different lady. Same thing, and I'm like, "I'm, I, I'm a- I've already told you three times." [laughs] Yeah. "Can I please get my stuff?"
- 15:43[sighs] So apparently once we get this stupid 5106 form filled out, we don't have to do it again, so I'm hoping to do quite a few of these. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, where's that big heavy box? I don't know. That's over there.
- 15:57This one? That's a big box. I, I'm gonna... You guys talk amongst yourselves. I'm gonna get this and show Tony real quick. Uh-oh. [laughs] I'm pretty sure.
- 16:04Well, and JK, I couldn't help but notice you're wearing the current River West 24 shirt. Yes, indeed. This is fine. Fine, sir. Fine shirt. Yes. Fine shirt. My mother questioned me yesterday- Oh...
- 16:14going like, "Oh, what message are you sending now with your T- E-shirt?" And I'm like, "This is the River West 24, Mother." The wonderful bunch of men. And she knows of it. Isn't that thing heavy? This thing's a beast.
- 16:26It's just your, your Bafang 100 millimeter mid-drive and- If you keep it light, the heavy can be handled, man Boy, I, I, I'm even less thrilled with these things than I was before because you should see how they trash a frame, especially by a ham fist that puts the thing on there.
- 16:42[laughs] You're gonna w- If you want, folks, you can buy these things online, Amazon, whatever. Uh, don't- Just go with the wheel though, man... try and put it on yourself. [laughs] I mean, I'm...
- 16:52They're, they're not a bad thing, but if you don't know what you're doing, you're just gonna s- you're gonna- You're gonna buy a new bike... chip paint and screw shit up and- Well. What is Kimbo's son's last name?
- 17:04Uh, who? I don't know. That... You don't have to answer on the air, but Bobby Mac wants to know something for some reason. [laughs] I, I don't know if he- Isn't he leaving, though?
- 17:13Is he talking about Kimbo Slice, or is he talking about- That's what I'm assuming... Kimbo the Bimbo or which one? I don't know. Oh, yeah. Beats the hell out of me.
- 17:21S- I'm gonna see Bob on Friday, though Where's the scale? How much does this thing weigh? It weighs all right. I don't even know if the scale will read as high as that reads. [laughs] In- But it is...
- 17:31But at least that one's 100 millimeters, so we can throw it on the, uh, cargo bike. All right. That's what I was hoping that was going for. Yeah. I mean, that just makes sense to put it on there. Oh, yeah.
- 17:39But that's a one-of-a-kind bike. I don't wanna screw it up, so- Oh, you gotta be really careful... have to be careful. Be really careful.
- 17:43Well, one of the problems is that it digs into the bottom bracket shell as part of it to keep it from rotating, and it's just a, it's a- That's not cool... it's just a crappy engineering way to do it.
- 17:56[laughs] You know, I don't know. I'm not sure I'm gonna put that thing on my bike. I might just do a hub motor on it and be done with it. Oh, shit. I mean, you know, I'm not opposed to- Joe's over here...
- 18:04I'm not opposed to mid-drive motors on bikes that are made for them as much as I am these crappy add-on ones. Well, we gotta get, uh, we gotta get Schlabowski back here and hear his input. Isn't this what he's running?
- 18:18No, he's got a-... Yuba, the Yuba that is- Yeah... I don't think it has that. I think it's made for it, isn't it? No. Oh. Oh. No, he traded in his one with the mid-drive and added one.
- 18:31He traded in his factory one, and he added it to something else, to his exercycle or something. Hey, when we don't have show notes, this is what we talk about. Right, I guess.
- 18:39[laughs] So Schlabowski, if you're listening, call in and... Yeah, I'm, I'm nearly certain he's got a Bafang mid-drive like this. It'd be nice- All right. Well-... to hear his opinion on it and
- 18:47I, I had no idea they were [laughs] this heavy. Yeah, that thing weighs a ton. Holy crap. Uh, hey, guess what? Braptoberfest was yesterday. Brap- No, tonight... tober. Oh, it's tonight. Oh, it's tonight. Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:58So come out. Come one, come all, down at Milwaukee By Bike, off the Cooperage, Blue Crockett. 10, 10:23. Um, it- [clears throat] We, we did a pre-ride. You did a pre-ride yesterday. Yeah.
- 19:10What, it's a, it's a, it's a nice, quick- It's, yeah... easy route that ends at a good place with a fire and- Yeah... a bunch of beer. You know where the next stop is when you get there?
- 19:20Uh, we meet- Oh yeah, we, we- Any way to do a ride. Yeah... yeah. We, we can't tell you. Meet up, meet up at 6:00, roll out at 6:30. It's about 10 miles. It's relaxing, groovy, no drop, and...
- 19:32Not a lot of time spent milling about and- Exactly... kinda getting to the- Yeah... end result where the good stuff is. Yeah. It'll be a little chilly. Costumes encouraged, light show encouraged, helmet encouraged.
- 19:41Costumes encouraged. Huh, I think I still have a pirate costume somewhere. It's not tied. Oh. Oh. It's not, that's- Speaking of, I thought I... [laughs] I bought this on a whim. He's digging in his pocket, folks.
- 19:59Because masks are necessary, and it's the Halloween season. Oh, boy. I can just see how many places are getting robbed this year. Yeah. Hey, folks, here's something while JK's putting his mask on.
- 20:10Uh, our buddy Chris Daisy, formerly owner of Zion Cyclery, is... [laughs] Nice. I, it's a, it's a red and black thing that he- Wait, wait. We can do that. Hold on. Deadpool. Deadpool, there we go. Yeah.
- 20:24You gotta get that. Um, Chris Daisy is back. Masks required. [laughs] For you folks that need, uh, graphic design, chrisdaisydesign@gmail.com.
- 20:33You wanna check Chris out 'cause he is, uh, amongst the most talented drawers that I have seen. Drawings. He can, uh, he can do just about anything for your drawing needs. [sings] Illustration, drawings- [sings]...
- 20:45other kinds of graphical design things. [sings] And by cracky, he'd love to do it for you. Chris Daisy Design. Ooh. Or Designs. Ooh, I better figure... Well, it's one or the other.
- 20:57There's pr- only one Chris Daisy that I know. You're not a Daisy. No. [laughs] I'm a Huckleberry. [laughs] Uh, apparently I need to watch the movie again because- Yeah... I kinda forgot the exact line, but... Oh.
- 21:14Oh, yeah. Uh. Oh. He was just too high-strung. [laughs] Are you... Oh, like, she... No, she's my, she's my butterfly. [laughs] No. I'm her flower- Oh, boy... she's my butterfly. Different movie.
- 21:25It's- Similar genre, different movie. You guys, you guys, see the size of that goddamn cock-a-damn doodle-doo? [laughs] Okay. We're in a spirit world with Chad. No idea what Chad's talking about. Yeah, I'm just saying.
- 21:40Wow, Rift, well done. [laughs] Right? So, uh, day after tomorrow, the 25th, Sunday, is Pie Ride in Milwaukee too, if anybody- Oh, yes. Man... wants to do a pie ride thing. Uh, it- Is that Sunday? Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
- 21:54Sunday, Sunday. 9:00 AM, Vulture Space, downtown Milwaukee. Right on, right on. It is, um, the, the premise of it is to go places and eat pie. So- [laughs] It's not a bad premise at all...
- 22:04I don't, I, I really don't think there's- For some reason, I-... anything wrong with it at all. I had, I had it in my head that it was last- Well, other than calories... that it was last Sunday.
- 22:10Well, you're riding, so you're burning 'em off. That's what it was in my head, and I was like, "Oh, shit." Um- I would come with you guys on Friday night, but unfortunately, but fortunately, actually, Daniel turns one.
- 22:23Daniel. Tony's one of- Happy birthday... those guys that always puts into your thing why he's not coming, why he can't come. Yeah, why I can't come. You gotta know. Like- Otherwise, I'd be there...
- 22:30if you're not coming, I don't give a fuck why you're not coming. It was really fun last year. It was fun, the... Well, the similar ride last year was fun. Right. Um, but- That is true...
- 22:39but in any event, I was more making that comment because Molly asked me if I wanted to bring Daniel tonight 'cause he w- did such a good job last time I brought him. Like, yeah. No, he did a good job. Yeah, no.
- 22:49Not as good a job? No, he, he's, no, he's a screamer. Duct tape him to the handlebars. [laughs] That's what, uh- Yeah, Sam... Sam, Sam, Sammy M. McMan.
- 22:58So you, I, speaking of him, and a shout-out to him, and, uh, m- my question is, I, I was unfamiliar with the term Bloody Molly at brunch. Are you familiar with what a Bloody Molly is? Sounds like a band name.
- 23:11I, you know, um- Flogging Bloody Mollys. It's, it's a- Gotcha. [laughs] It's a Bloody Mary with whiskey. That does not sound like something I'd try. Bloody Mary with whiskey, I could wrap my head around. I, I couldn't.
- 23:23He, and tell him we're due. Sure, sure, sure. Mm. I mean, I love whiskey. Mm. So, yeah. I, I, I love whiskey. But why, why, why- I don't like tomato juice... pollu- why pollute it with tomato juice? [laughs] Yeah, yeah.
- 23:33That's, that's- Yeah, see, that's why I don't get going in on that. I, I do like- That's like-... a good Bloody Mary once in a while, but, you know. Yeah. Yeah, that, that- But I want it not to taste like tomatoes.
- 23:41I'll have a Bloody Molly- [laughs]... without the tomato juice- If that makes sense... and all the other crap in it. Yeah. [laughs] Oh, my God, I'll never forget.
- 23:48I was out east, and everyone's like, "Oh, I'm gonna do a, uh, Bloody Mary with gin." And I was like this big- Oh, yeah. Man, that's the big thing for a while, too... like, like, "Ooh, ooh, ooh," you know, whatever.
- 23:57And I'm just like, I'm like, none of the... I mean, even I was, like, a little more against Bloody Marys at the time. So we're at this brunch thing, and I was just like, "I'll just have a vodka tonic."
- 24:07And they looked at me like, "Really?" Like you were evil? "Really? It's not even noon." And I'm like- [laughs]... "What the hell do you think you d- d- d- do drinking?" Yeah, yeah.
- 24:15You have a different delivery system, brother. Well, you're getting a little more nutrition from the, the-... tomato portion of the deal Oh, man. Yeah, but I have a lime, and I'm gonna have- Oh. You won't have scurvy...
- 24:25scurvy. Right. You know, I like that. Avast, ye mateys. Right, I like that. Arrr. [laughs] Me buckos. Yeah, DeNardo has the most hilarious story. Again, we have, we talk about DeNardo a lot on this show.
- 24:35[laughs] Probably ought to get him in the sh- on the show every once in a while. How he went... I... Yeah, no kidding.
- 24:39How he went, he went to Pizza Man and ordered the bloody Mary, and it was served with gin, and he was like- Ooh... "What the hell is this?"
- 24:44He's like, "Well, you asked for a house bloody Mary, and that means it comes with gin." Oh, what? He's like, "You don't tell people that?" [laughs] Yeah, you gotta lead with that. You know? For real. I mean, I don't...
- 24:55Yeah. No. That does not seem like a good plan- No... to change up the recipe and just call it a house bloody Mary. Right, right. Not say it's a house gin bloody Mary or something. Yeah.
- 25:04Hey, you know what I dig this week? No. I dig these socks that I- Oh... happened to get just from Showers Pass. Showers Pass. Um- I tried it on right now.
- 25:11Thank God you're trying those on, because I have a blockage here, and I'm- So you have to see it? You had a, kind of a Giuliani freak-out- Look at my toes...
- 25:17moment there, where it's like, okay, you're just tucking your pants. You tucking your shirt- Yeah... in there, brother? Huh? What?
- 25:23Just, yeah, you know, brings up the guy who got fired from his longterm gig somewhere f- because he was in a Zoom meeting and thought he had blacked everyone out. And yeah, he was jacking off. Was he using a sock?
- 25:33Uh, I don't know. I did not watch the video. Well, hopefully it wasn't a, hopefully it wasn't a Showers Pass sock, although- [laughs]... it would've been nice and clean, because they- Yeah...
- 25:40while the gloves are fantastic, I- Yeah... and I, I, so Tony and I both got new, new gloves and new socks and new, uh, jackets from the Showers Pass, and- Uh-huh... uh, I, I, it's beautiful. I love it.
- 25:54They make good stuff. And I, I, I rode in the rain- They do... specifically just to ride in the rain because it was so badass. Yeah. It is. They ar- they make...
- 26:00I will say, and I'm glad I ordered an XL on the jacket because then I can put a layer- 10-4... under it. Exactly. You know, it's gonna be, it's gonna make a great...
- 26:07It's gonna be my winter jacket, which is crazy, 'cause it's not heavy. It's, but it's really, really well done. And it's windproof and waterproof. Yeah. That's all I need. I, I would say that they run, uh, athletic fit.
- 26:19In, yes. Athletic fit. Which I am not. So if, if you wanna, if you wanna layer up, I would go a size up on them. Yeah. And that is, uh, that's the straight truth right there, folks.
- 26:28And back to Sam, while I was ordering mine, I happened to mention that my friend was mad that they don't make fat guy clothes. And for those of you that don't know Sam, he's not fat, he's just freaking gigantic.
- 26:39Uh, he, uh, they do make a line of clothes, and I don't know what the name of it is right now, 'cause it's about to slip my mind, but for the, uh, shall we say, huskier individuals. Not called Showers Pass?
- 26:50I was about to. It is from Showers Pass- Oh... but it is a cut that is built for a more roomy- Robust... uh, yeah, like- That's a good plan... fat guy clothes. Roomy.
- 27:00I think, uh, what they need to do for us height challenged people is make inseams shorter- Inseams shorter. Yeah, they-... than 36 inches, because that's a freaking sh- I, it is-... long ass inseam... I totally agree.
- 27:08That even- I like their pants, but I wear out the bottoms instantly because they drag on the ground. Yeah, and then they bulk up and they're kinda like eh. Yeah. I know.
- 27:16I've just ended up cultiv- That was cool when I was in high school... cultivating, like, rolling my- You can't roll these. They got a zipper... every, well, no, every- Yeah... you know. They got, they got- Yeah...
- 27:23Velcros and zippers, and it's, it's all compli- Watch me. I'll figure a damn way out... it's all complicated down there. [laughs] I'm telling you. Hey, I know. Eh. I, I navigated this planet this long.
- 27:32[laughs] I've been rolling my stuff up like I'm a 50s hipster. There, there is not one person in this room over 5'9". [laughs] There's not. [laughs] On a good day years ago I was, but... Right?
- 27:42I can't believe I'm- Yeah, we can't ride, we, we-... I can't believe I've shrunk so much... we're, we're too short to get on that ride. I'm too short to get up on that horse. Yeah.
- 27:49You know, 29ers scare me now 'cause I'm so short. [laughs] Oh, that's the fun part. You know what? I feel that. On a- That's like the damn SU- that's like the SUV feel. I'm a little higher on the ground. You know?
- 27:59Hey, right now I can see what the hell's going on around here.
- 28:01If the frame's the right size, and fortunately my feet aren't that big, 'cause I'm within a half an inch to an inch of being toe overlap, smacky smack- Oh, yeah... on a 29er. I love, I love my Tatanka. Boy, that's,
- 28:15that's been my, that's my lovely bike. I love it very much. I'm back to 29 plus again for city riding. It is just- I know.
- 28:23I poo-poohed it for a little while, maybe in the past show number, I don't know, 27 or something, I probably poo-poohed them. I'm back. Back. It's just, it- Back in the saddle... it, it's- I'll take your word for it.
- 28:36I know. Yeah. I'm gonna say- I'll be back soon as well... no, JK's, I'm gonna, I'm gonna say close to- I'll be back as soon as my cognition- I'm gonna say as good a 12, a good 12, nudging on 11-month, uh, steed that way.
- 28:47Oh. So you're just gonna put the fatties on for the actual snow riding? I don't know. JK's rolling a Tatanka with, uh, 29 plus on it. Depending on the snow- Yeah... you can just ride it like that. Exactly. Yeah.
- 28:57And the way that... You know, I mean, snow is so pop gun, you don't even know what the hell. Right. But da-din-ta-din. If it's, you know, not ridable, it's unridable for a little bit.
- 29:07One Mississippi, two, [snaps fingers] boom. Just realized- It's ready to go... I got, uh, I got a pretty nice set of 29er mountain bike tires.
- 29:14It might be fun to t- if I decide to actually put my Smitty out in the snow, which I almost never do. I don't think it has ever seen snow. Bow, bow. Chka-chka. 'Cause that'd be a fun winter ride with a- With a-...
- 29:24with a Sith... with a, with a front motor. [laughs] Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You'd be, you'd be squirming all over the trail. I'm, I'm gonna start a, a- Ginger...
- 29:30we're gonna start a drift, um, a drift competition on the oval with the, uh, rear hub drives in the snow. Oh, we sh- We'll talk. Hey, by the way, we're also looking at a new space up the street. Are we now?
- 29:43Oh, it's several many thousands of square feet. We could, we could put a, we could put a very nice race course and pump track inside there. This is on my mind right now, just so you know. It was always on my mind.
- 29:56I'm thinking- Yeah... if we can s- if we can slide- That pump track's always been on my mind... through the winter with a couple of, uh, couple of bucks in our pocket, this is gonna work really well.
- 30:03That would be a really interesting idea. I know what you're thinking about. That's our buddy Steve right next door. So check out everydaycycles.com. Peruse the catalog.
- 30:10For poten- for potentially, uh, bopping right up the street and having some really fun stuff going on. Mm-hmm.
- 30:16Uh, just outside the dock door, which would be the main entrance, is the size of a, you know, semi truck dock door,
- 30:24is- A U-shaped thing that the only people that would be in there would be us, and it's, it's kind of like an urban motocross course in there. Wow. It's all gravel. It's all f- it's all fun.
- 30:38[laughs] I'm, I'm working diligently to make this happen for all you fine people out there- Oh... who visit Milwaukee and wanna go somewhere that's, you know, not a big box bike store. Yeah. Big box bike store.
- 30:54All right. Big box. All right, then. We got big box. I don't think there's a whole lot else on here. Santa Ram- Here's... If you have a Santa Rampage happening where you are- That's true...
- 31:05either call in the show, uh, 7:00 PM Central Standard Time, 717-727-2453. That spells bike. That spells bike. Or do the same damn thing, 717-727-2453, and leave a message- Bike...
- 31:17and let us know if you're having- That spells bike [laughs]... a, a, uh... What do you call it? Uh- Heart attack. No. Gathering. Santa Rampage. Yeah, Santa Rampage.
- 31:25And, boy, Zeno really thought he'd- Satan Rampage, he thought that up, didn't he? [smacks lips] Yeah, yeah. [laughs] Well, maybe. So, if you- That's good... or if you have a Satan Rampage, uh- Let us know that, too...
- 31:37or a Satan, or a Satan Rampage if you're a hockey fan, uh, please- Or a seitan if you- Or-... happen to be a vegan. Or- Or Dick Satan Trio... ah. Oh. Oh, you can do the Dick Satan Trio ride. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Wow.
- 31:48I'm Dick Satan, and I've been listening to wmse.org, which is the best radio station- So it was on one-... in Milwaukee. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no... one, one-tenth of a watt or something.
- 31:56[laughs] It's the best radio station in the freakin' world. Oh, yeah. Uh, on the pre-ride, we got a...
- 32:02Well, yeah, Zeno had to take a picture of us at one stop, uh, listening to, uh, Tuesdays with Marty, which is a- Nice... and it was a good... It was Soul Patrol day, and it was- Yeah.
- 32:14So there was a shout-out on the way home that I caught, and it was pretty damn funny, 'cause all of a sudden I, like, turned up [laughs] the thing and it was like, "And it was, you know, Zeno." And I'm like, "Oh, shit."
- 32:24It was like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Here you guys go." And it was like, uh, The In Crowd- What?... by Dobby Gray. It was a good- [laughs] The In Crowd. [laughs] What was the show? What was his first half-hour?
- 32:36I listened to that, too, and it was just, it was something. Uh, like, it was a dedication to his dad, like some... just good ass old soul, man. Yeah, that's what it wa- It was nice. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:45That whole show is a ripper, man. I liked it a lot. Day tripper, good ripper. Yeah. By the way, speaking of WMSE, you should really listen to Gorilla Ghost from last night. You can get to YouTube.
- 32:57If you go to YouTube and go to the WMSE page or you go straight to WMSE, that local live last night was... or, sorry- This week... Tuesday night- Yeah... was off the hook great. All right.
- 33:07If you're gonna listen to good music and you don't have a YouTube, like, Red or whatever- Don't use YouTube... don't use YouTube 'cause it sounds so crappy.
- 33:15Go to somewhere where they stream it well and they give you a good- Yeah. Well, this was the- They give you a good bitrate for your dang old music, folks... this was the first, uh, live venue type thing. Yeah.
- 33:25So that was- Was it the one where they faked it at the X-Ray Arcade? Nope. Nope. That's coming up. [laughs] Oh, yeah? All right. Hey, by cracky, we did it again. Yes. Yeah. Bikes. I- bikes and stuff.
- 33:38It just came back all full circle. It, it, it's, it's all, it's all about what we do on bikes, basically. It's all happening [laughs] Yeah. It's- It's, we don't have to talk about the actual bike, do we? Yeah.
- 33:48Oh, look at- I'm on my bike listening to... look at how fancy-... WMSE... that thing is. It's got a 27.2 seatpost. Ugh. It's got a Thompson sticking up outta there. Ooh, that's very nice. Yeah. Yes.
- 33:58And if you see me out in the world- Yeah, whatever. [upbeat music] Don't. [laughs] Ask me those questions.
- 34:14[laughs] [laughs]
