- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. For now, the Bucceteers and the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Chiefs are on for Raymond James Stadium on Sunday. But
- 0:23Speaker 1: coming up, we'll tell you of the contingency plan if
- 0:26Speaker 1: that game moves where they will move it to. Welcome
- 0:30Speaker 1: to another hour of NFL Now on NFL Network from
- 0:33Speaker 1: our newsroom in Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Ceciliano.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Also coming up the latest on TWA Tongua Boloa as
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Dolphins, with Hurricane Ian bearing down on Florida, are
- 0:45Speaker 1: already on their way to Cincinnati. We're gonna open up
- 0:49Speaker 1: this hour with other quarterback news, and that's news out
- 0:53Speaker 1: of New York. Where hi there, Ian Rappaport. NFL Network
- 0:55Speaker 1: insider Robert Sala made the change today that he told
- 0:59Speaker 1: us back in August he would make when Zack Wilson
- 1:03Speaker 1: was finally ready to get back on the field. Yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 1: there's a lot of no surprise here, Andrew, which is
- 1:08Speaker 1: good because this having gone exactly as the Jets hoped
- 1:11Speaker 1: and planned, is good news. Zach Wilson, officially cleared by doctors,
- 1:16Speaker 1: is on track to start on Sunday. Gets the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 1:19Speaker 1: which if you think back to when the Jets first
- 1:21Speaker 1: had this discussion right before the first week of the season,
- 1:25Speaker 1: what they said was we hope he plays Week four
- 1:27Speaker 1: against the Steelers. Now he is playing now. It's not
- 1:30Speaker 1: just the meniscus tear that he had surgery on to trim.
- 1:33Speaker 1: The menis because that Zack Wilson is battling. It's also
- 1:36Speaker 1: the bone bruise, which can be very painful, but it
- 1:38Speaker 1: also can trick players into thinking that they are healthy.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Maybe four weeks out, five weeks out, that's really where
- 1:44Speaker 1: you injure yourself because you think you could are good
- 1:47Speaker 1: to go, but you really are not. Week six is
- 1:49Speaker 1: when the time is the time when the bone bruise
- 1:53Speaker 1: is good to go and you really can't do any
- 1:55Speaker 1: more damage. That's where Zach Wilson is. That's why he
- 1:58Speaker 1: is now on track to start on Sunday for the Jets.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Joe Flacco goes back to the bench and it's gonna
- 2:03Speaker 1: be Zack Wilson and Mitch Bisky still very much the
- 2:06Speaker 1: number one quarterback for the Steelers in that game Sunday
- 2:09Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh. I now for the previously mentioned Bill Belichick
- 2:15Speaker 1: conversation with the media today in Foxborough about his quarterback
- 2:19Speaker 1: Mac Jones. Does the plan bill for Max have any
- 2:23Speaker 1: kind of procedure? How long with the process here? Day
- 2:27Speaker 1: by day? Phil, Day by day? That's the plan? Day
- 2:34Speaker 1: by day. Are you and the team on the same
- 2:40Speaker 1: page with Mac and his team as it comes to
- 2:42Speaker 1: the injury and how to burn progress move forward? Yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I'm not really sure what the what the nature of
- 2:56Speaker 1: the question is day by days getting better? See how
- 3:00Speaker 1: it goes day by day? Does he have a high's
- 3:05Speaker 1: brain day by day? What do I look like a doctor?
- 3:10Speaker 1: An orthopedic surgeon like? I don't know, talk to the
- 3:14Speaker 1: medical experts. So I guess he's day by day. Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: A couple of interesting things strike me out of that.
- 3:21Speaker 1: First of all, if you read that online, read it
- 3:24Speaker 1: on Twitter, which is where I first saw it, Uh,
- 3:27Speaker 1: it kind of seems like he's being a jerk, but
- 3:29Speaker 1: he's kind of smiling and playing along, and there's that
- 3:31Speaker 1: giving any answers. He's giving the answers that he came
- 3:33Speaker 1: in to say, which is fine. But he's definitely having
- 3:36Speaker 1: some fun with the day by days. Before we started
- 3:39Speaker 1: that side sound on tape TV so there were actually
- 3:43Speaker 1: even more day by days before there. I want more
- 3:47Speaker 1: of them, give me all of the day by age.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I mean, we can we do the thing where we
- 3:51Speaker 1: count them and then it goes ding ding ding. We
- 3:53Speaker 1: should do that. We can work on that for one
- 3:54Speaker 1: more thing. But but here's what here's what's amazing about
- 3:57Speaker 1: Belichick is he doesn't accept the premise of any question.
- 4:01Speaker 1: He doesn't like. He's never going to give you more
- 4:03Speaker 1: than he plans. He came in to say he's gonna
- 4:05Speaker 1: be day by day and he's getting better. So when
- 4:07Speaker 1: someone asks a question, are you on the same page
- 4:10Speaker 1: with Mac? He like takes some time and it's like,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'm not even going to address what that question is
- 4:16Speaker 1: even about to give you an answer that would in
- 4:18Speaker 1: any way convey anything about what you're asking. He really
- 4:21Speaker 1: is the master of making sure that no one gets
- 4:24Speaker 1: what they want with their questions that he doesn't like.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But anyway, Mac Jones day by days get a little better,
- 4:30Speaker 1: we'll see. Belichick's not a doctor. Yeah, are you guys
- 4:32Speaker 1: are on the same page? Like with the treatment? I
- 4:34Speaker 1: don't even know what that means, right, And I don't
- 4:38Speaker 1: know why they wouldn't probably, but I mean, yeah, meantime,
- 4:45Speaker 1: Jamis Winston Ian was very clear in London today that
- 4:48Speaker 1: he wanted to practice and was told that he cannot.
- 4:52Speaker 1: The Saints are likely going to practice Jamis tomorrow with
- 4:56Speaker 1: the bad back. Jamis always wants to practice, so really
- 5:01Speaker 1: this is fine and wanting to be out there on
- 5:03Speaker 1: the field. It's really about the Saints trying to get
- 5:05Speaker 1: him as healthy as possible. He watched the last game
- 5:08Speaker 1: from the Saints. You can't say that Jamis Winston looked
- 5:11Speaker 1: fully healthy. I mean, he did not look like himself,
- 5:13Speaker 1: didn't look like he got everything on his passes and
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, obviously made some mistakes and throws you wouldn't want,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you know, he would want back. But this is about
- 5:21Speaker 1: getting him to Sunday, getting him healthy. Did not practice today.
- 5:25Speaker 1: She saw Andy Dalton, you saw some of Taysom Hill,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and it sounds like we'll see maybe a little more
- 5:29Speaker 1: of Tassomill going forward, which you know, if you're the
- 5:32Speaker 1: Saints offense, any spark is good spark, So that actually
- 5:35Speaker 1: makes some sense. Okay, let's get to the serious story here.
- 5:37Speaker 1: The Buccaneers are training in Miami there game for now
- 5:41Speaker 1: is still on Sunday, night Hurricane Ian hitting the west
- 5:43Speaker 1: coast of Florida. But Ian Rappaport, NFL Network Insider, we
- 5:47Speaker 1: do now have a contingency plan. Yeah, very clear and
- 5:50Speaker 1: specific contingency plant. If the game is not played on
- 5:53Speaker 1: Sunday night in Tampa, it's gonna be played in Minnesota
- 5:57Speaker 1: at US Bank Stadium, which at least allows every team
- 6:00Speaker 1: to plan and do some advance work and just kind
- 6:03Speaker 1: of get ready in the event the league does end
- 6:06Speaker 1: up moving the game. According to Jeff Miller, the league
- 6:08Speaker 1: executive who provided this update, it is still too early
- 6:11Speaker 1: to tell. UH. There's really no firm time on and
- 6:14Speaker 1: when they need to make a decision. Obviously rather sooner,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, sooner rather than later. There's no firm timeline.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's also not expected to be played in Miami because
- 6:23Speaker 1: they don't want to divert local resources away from the
- 6:27Speaker 1: hurricane UH and basically use those resources to help put
- 6:30Speaker 1: on a football game which is obviously not nearly as important.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So Minnesota likely the home of this game in the
- 6:37Speaker 1: event it does need to get moved. And to your
- 6:39Speaker 1: point about South Florida. Here you see the hurricane moving
- 6:41Speaker 1: up the west coast, but certainly south Florida feeling the
- 6:44Speaker 1: effects significant effects of HURRICANEY and so much so that
- 6:47Speaker 1: Dolphins took off early today for Cincinnati rather than to Linger.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Wanted to get there safely and obviously our best wishes
- 6:55Speaker 1: to everyone in Florida. Please stay safely and rappaport. Thank
- 6:58Speaker 1: you NFL Network inside or that game is scheduled for Sunday,
- 7:01Speaker 1: scheduled meantime for earlier that day at one o'clock hockey
- 7:05Speaker 1: Eastern time. How about this one? We got Lamar Jackson
- 7:10Speaker 1: and Josh Allen one PM. Sean McDermott in Baltimore. I
- 7:18Speaker 1: mean you just you look at what Josh has been
- 7:20Speaker 1: able to do, and then you look at Lamar's game
- 7:22Speaker 1: and and they're they're a little bit different in terms
- 7:24Speaker 1: of you know, their strengths maybe and um, but just
- 7:27Speaker 1: it's good for the league. I mean, these are two
- 7:29Speaker 1: young quarterbacks that played at such a high level. Um,
- 7:32Speaker 1: they give you headaches. They're they're hard to stop because
- 7:35Speaker 1: of their multidimensional and and what they do and how
- 7:38Speaker 1: they can do it. Um. And so a lot of respect,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm sure run the league for Josh and of course
- 7:43Speaker 1: we love Josh and and a lot of respect for
- 7:45Speaker 1: Lamar in this case too. I have to have a
- 7:48Speaker 1: lot of respect for both of these quarterbacks the way
- 7:49Speaker 1: both of them have played this year, James Palmer, Bucky Brooks.
- 7:52Speaker 1: You know I used to get laughed at sometimes when
- 7:55Speaker 1: I said that Josh Allen was the most elusive quarterback
- 7:58Speaker 1: and made as many players on the run, uh not
- 8:00Speaker 1: named Lamar Jackson, but but you see it with both
- 8:05Speaker 1: of them. These guys have kind of sort of changed
- 8:07Speaker 1: the way we evaluate quarterbacks and now the quarterback positions
- 8:10Speaker 1: played absolutely Andrew. When you think about this evaluation, like
- 8:13Speaker 1: both of these guys were lightly regarded in terms of
- 8:16Speaker 1: the draft. There were guys that we poked holes in
- 8:18Speaker 1: their games when we watched them in college. Not accurate enough.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Can they play from the pocket? Can they play traditional quarterback? Well,
- 8:24Speaker 1: both of these guys have become superstars and what it
- 8:27Speaker 1: has done their success has opened the path for other,
- 8:31Speaker 1: i would say non traditional quarterbacks to have success, guys
- 8:34Speaker 1: that have athleticism and running skills. It allowed offensive coordinators
- 8:39Speaker 1: to have enough imagination to maybe bring in some of
- 8:41Speaker 1: those collegiate concepts to help these quarterbacks have success at
- 8:45Speaker 1: the pros. When you look at the way the Buffalo
- 8:47Speaker 1: Bills run their offense and the way the Baltimore Ravens
- 8:50Speaker 1: run their offense. Neither one is a traditional office, but man,
- 8:54Speaker 1: it puts defensive coordinators and bonds because now you're dealing
- 8:57Speaker 1: with what they do with threat playmaker who can hurt
- 8:59Speaker 1: you not only with their legs, but now with their
- 9:01Speaker 1: arms and Bucky you talking about not traditional offense. As
- 9:05Speaker 1: you look at what the Ravens went and did this offseason,
- 9:08Speaker 1: it was very similar to the look that they had
- 9:10Speaker 1: in two thousand nineteen when Lamar Jackson won the m
- 9:13Speaker 1: v P. Unanimously, It's let's bulk up our offensive line.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Let's get deeper at the running back spot, Let's get
- 9:18Speaker 1: a couple more tight ends because he loves to work
- 9:20Speaker 1: the middle of the field, and let's try to have
- 9:21Speaker 1: the same success. The interesting part is the offensive line
- 9:24Speaker 1: hasn't really played up to par. He's been the entire
- 9:27Speaker 1: running game. Now. JK. Dobbins did return last week, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: you expect that role to increase in him to carry
- 9:32Speaker 1: some more of the workload and running the football, and
- 9:34Speaker 1: Mark Andrews has really been the only tight end to
- 9:37Speaker 1: flourish for this team. It's interesting you could think that
- 9:40Speaker 1: he's actually playing Andrew better than he did in that
- 9:43Speaker 1: two thousand nineteen m v P season. Thus far, through
- 9:46Speaker 1: these first three weeks, he's specifically been so good on
- 9:48Speaker 1: first and second down that's set up a lot of
- 9:50Speaker 1: what he's been able to do running this offense. And
- 9:53Speaker 1: now you have Devin Duvernet, you have a guy that
- 9:55Speaker 1: you're seeing maybe a big play weapon, you have Rashod Babe,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and you have these options. I'm talking about him playing
- 10:00Speaker 1: great right now. It looks like it's trending in the
- 10:02Speaker 1: right direction to maybe have even more six tess with
- 10:05Speaker 1: Dobbin's coming back and these other guys getting better each week. Yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I think he is playing better than than his MVP
- 10:10Speaker 1: season statistically and just passing the eye tests. And these
- 10:13Speaker 1: two quarterbacks combining for over seven hundred yards of total
- 10:16Speaker 1: offense between them through these three games. Here on the
- 10:20Speaker 1: Bill side of things, this is a tough one James
- 10:23Speaker 1: or rebound game. After that exhausting effort in a loss
- 10:26Speaker 1: in Miami. What's their thought going into this one? Well,
- 10:29Speaker 1: it is a difficult situation going into the player I
- 10:32Speaker 1: just described in Lamar Jacksons specifically with the defense that
- 10:35Speaker 1: you have, and you played your last game really without
- 10:37Speaker 1: your entire starting secondary. But I would go back to
- 10:40Speaker 1: the preseason game that I covered there against the Denver Broncos,
- 10:43Speaker 1: when I was talking to people on the on the
- 10:44Speaker 1: Broncos organization, going, man, this team is just unbelievably deep.
- 10:48Speaker 1: That's what we saw in that game, second and third stringers,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and that's what we saw against the Dolphins. I mean,
- 10:53Speaker 1: this is the team that everybody is talking about in
- 10:55Speaker 1: Miami Bucky. But at the same time, this defense that
- 10:58Speaker 1: I mentioned, without their secondary and the explosive receivers and
- 11:01Speaker 1: Jalen Waddle and Tyree Hill, held them to about what
- 11:04Speaker 1: two some odd yards and fifteen first downs. Offensively, the
- 11:08Speaker 1: offensive line was in shambles, and then Josh Allen throws
- 11:11Speaker 1: from four yards. I would say this team is still
- 11:13Speaker 1: in a very good spot because they could have very
- 11:15Speaker 1: well won that game. Without some miscuse. You're gonna be shorthanded,
- 11:18Speaker 1: it looks like against the Ravens. But at the same time,
- 11:21Speaker 1: you have to be happy with your fifty three man roster.
- 11:24Speaker 1: If you're Sean McDermott, Oh, they build the right way.
- 11:26Speaker 1: They'll build the way every NFL executive wants to have
- 11:29Speaker 1: his team built, their homegrown guys that have been developed.
- 11:32Speaker 1: They are not afraid when they have their opportunities, and
- 11:34Speaker 1: it's the perfect blend of coaching matching the personnel. Meaning
- 11:38Speaker 1: when I look at them, I can't say they they're
- 11:40Speaker 1: necessarily the most talented defense, but man, what they asked
- 11:44Speaker 1: their players to do, it fits with the stress of
- 11:47Speaker 1: their game, which is why they're successful. When I look
- 11:49Speaker 1: at Baltimore, I see a bit of a defense in transition.
- 11:53Speaker 1: This is a team that has always played great defense
- 11:55Speaker 1: over the last twenty years. Now they're still trying to
- 11:58Speaker 1: put it together. You had a new defensive play calling
- 12:00Speaker 1: Mike McDonald coming from the college game back to the
- 12:02Speaker 1: Baltimore Ravens, trying to do a little more. Own eyes
- 12:06Speaker 1: see what's going on. And so it's a bit of
- 12:08Speaker 1: a struggle. But the one thing that we know about
- 12:10Speaker 1: the Baltimore Ravens, they're going to test the toughness of
- 12:14Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bill because they're gonna try and hit him
- 12:15Speaker 1: in the mouth. We will get a chance to see
- 12:18Speaker 1: if the Buffalo Bills, who are played gray finesse on offense,
- 12:22Speaker 1: if they're physical enough to be one of the last
- 12:24Speaker 1: team standing in the end, the Baltimore Ravens will give
- 12:26Speaker 1: them that test and the Ravens defense getting some new
- 12:29Speaker 1: faces on the field. Jason Pierre Paul scene today on
- 12:33Speaker 1: the practice field for the first time at Owens Mills
- 12:36Speaker 1: just signed wearing number four, which looks weird. Bucky Brooks
- 12:41Speaker 1: four defense. Thank you, James Palmer to night as well,
- 12:48Speaker 1: Tyreek killworst ten. He's also really fast. Does that speed
- 12:52Speaker 1: run through Cincinnati on Thursday night? Oh Jay make the
- 12:56Speaker 1: face standing by. We have a former Dolphins wide receiver
- 13:01Speaker 1: who can move just a little bit himself coming up
- 13:03Speaker 1: next on NFL Now, brol gro Tyler Boyd waddling his
- 13:21Speaker 1: way for six touchdown. The way they're not to put
- 13:28Speaker 1: off the game up from behind, it comes out what
- 13:32Speaker 1: it all man, unbelievable clutch. Don't Tyreek Hill Bangels drop
- 13:37Speaker 1: the stide. The Dolphins have pulled off the improbable three island.
- 13:44Speaker 1: They are pulling off the improbable sometimes because they have
- 13:48Speaker 1: those two guys, Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle next gen
- 13:51Speaker 1: stats here powered by a WS Look what they have
- 13:55Speaker 1: done compared to the rest of the league. When two
- 13:58Speaker 1: is throwing the ball downfield, that is ten yards or
- 14:01Speaker 1: more down field. They're pretty good and we're gonna see
- 14:04Speaker 1: that speed on display tomorrow night in Cincinnati. This guy
- 14:09Speaker 1: had some speed as well. O J. McDuffie fifth all
- 14:14Speaker 1: time in Dolphins franchise history with five thousand, seventy four
- 14:18Speaker 1: receiving yards. He led the league in receptions in with ninety,
- 14:24Speaker 1: a career high for him and his Dolphins career. Now
- 14:26Speaker 1: is a podcast had a good name, Fish Tank any One.
- 14:29Speaker 1: O J. McDuffie ahead of tanp joins us live on NFL. Now,
- 14:33Speaker 1: O J, how are you and your family doing down
- 14:36Speaker 1: there with that storm bearing down? We're doing well. We're
- 14:39Speaker 1: doing well. You know, we're still praying for our neighbors
- 14:41Speaker 1: to the west, making sure they're good over there and
- 14:44Speaker 1: making sure we can bring anybody in and needs to
- 14:46Speaker 1: come in. But so far, so good. A lot of rain.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I'm sure that you know, the West coast is used
- 14:51Speaker 1: to seeing a lot of these storms that we've seen
- 14:52Speaker 1: over the East coast, So I just hope they're heating
- 14:55Speaker 1: the warnings and you know, getting the shelter or even
- 14:59Speaker 1: evacuating if they have to. Absolutely here. Here's hoping everyone
- 15:02Speaker 1: is okay, and if you haven't moved yet, obviously find
- 15:05Speaker 1: some shelter with that storm bearing down on the West coast.
- 15:08Speaker 1: It's we've talked so much about the Bucks this week,
- 15:10Speaker 1: Oh j how they are in the Dolphins building right
- 15:12Speaker 1: now getting ready for the game. There are no excuses here,
- 15:15Speaker 1: but I can't imagine the headspace the Dolphins are in
- 15:18Speaker 1: that emotional game Sunday in the heat. We saw everyone exhausted.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Two us got the bad back. They had to leave Wednesday.
- 15:27Speaker 1: This is a tough task for them at three and
- 15:30Speaker 1: all I know, but to go on the road to
- 15:32Speaker 1: Cincinnati to face Joe Burrow. Yeah, it's a huge test.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You know, it really is a huge test, not only
- 15:37Speaker 1: for you know, the team itself, but for our new
- 15:40Speaker 1: headman's probably hadn't had to deal with a situation like this,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you know, for one of the storms down here. Leaving
- 15:45Speaker 1: a little earlier today than they would have normally left,
- 15:48Speaker 1: and then of course been a Thursday night in a
- 15:50Speaker 1: short week, so it's all adjustina for everybody. Um, he's
- 15:54Speaker 1: got a hell of staff which helps a lot um,
- 15:56Speaker 1: you know, the helping with these different decisions. And he's
- 15:59Speaker 1: got a pretty much veteran team that knows how to
- 16:02Speaker 1: handle their business. So tough little trip up to, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 1: if to Cincinnati playing against a really, really good football
- 16:08Speaker 1: team still riding a high, I'm sure, but I'm sure
- 16:10Speaker 1: they've turned the page and you're getting ready to go
- 16:12Speaker 1: all right when I'm talking about the guy over your shoulder,
- 16:14Speaker 1: O J. The artist rendering of the great Dan Marino
- 16:17Speaker 1: Hall of Famer, who obviously is still part of the franchise,
- 16:19Speaker 1: a guy that you played with. When we've seen some
- 16:22Speaker 1: of the numbers, especially Week two when two or through
- 16:26Speaker 1: six touchdowns and they comeback win in Baltimore, we have
- 16:29Speaker 1: not seen these numbers since Dan Marino. What do you
- 16:34Speaker 1: say to that? You know what, man, Danny is a
- 16:38Speaker 1: He's a unicorn, you really is. You know, you look
- 16:40Speaker 1: what he did in the mid eighties, you know, throwing
- 16:41Speaker 1: four or five thousand yards in the season and forty
- 16:43Speaker 1: eight touchdowns. You know that wasn't touched for a long
- 16:46Speaker 1: long time. And to the game change. So you know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I think the game has changed to right now to
- 16:51Speaker 1: where these these guys can go out there and put
- 16:53Speaker 1: up gaudy numbers. Can you do it consistently? He's always
- 16:56Speaker 1: the question. But I love the fact that to has
- 16:58Speaker 1: found that confidence, in that courage to pick these shots,
- 17:02Speaker 1: get the ball all the time, find his great receivers
- 17:04Speaker 1: in wall and hell and and make big things happen.
- 17:07Speaker 1: You know, game plan and all, it's all that matters
- 17:10Speaker 1: for a lot of these guys, and I think two
- 17:11Speaker 1: of does a great job with our game plan and
- 17:13Speaker 1: executes it really well. Right now, you know what sends
- 17:15Speaker 1: out to me, oh j We talked about the speed. Obviously,
- 17:17Speaker 1: Tyreck Hill and jayl and Waddle have the speed and
- 17:19Speaker 1: they're on third and twenty until you see Waddle get deep.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I mean that that was a game changing play. But
- 17:23Speaker 1: we heard so much of the offseason with good reason
- 17:26Speaker 1: about how the run game is gonna gash teams this year.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Are you surprised we haven't necessarily seen that yet. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: am surprised a little bit. But the reason I'm not
- 17:38Speaker 1: so surprised because you know, we've had guys in and
- 17:40Speaker 1: out of that lineup every single game. You know, we
- 17:43Speaker 1: have guys in and out of the different positions left
- 17:46Speaker 1: and right, tackle some some guard positions, and so the
- 17:49Speaker 1: run game always seems to fall behind the rest of
- 17:52Speaker 1: the game. Um. But I think the fact that coach
- 17:54Speaker 1: McDaniel sticks to it is the most important thing. We've
- 17:57Speaker 1: got some home run hitters, you know, for most of
- 18:00Speaker 1: and you know and Edmonds. We've got some guys that
- 18:02Speaker 1: can hit home runs right away when they get the
- 18:04Speaker 1: rock in her hands. And so we're not gonna shot
- 18:06Speaker 1: away from it. We just gotta keep working on it
- 18:08Speaker 1: until then. We'll keep keep passing the ball around the
- 18:10Speaker 1: yard and let our other wife, let our wife receivers
- 18:13Speaker 1: do a lot of work. All right, he's hitting that
- 18:14Speaker 1: the deep shots. We know, he's great on the slants
- 18:17Speaker 1: and the bubbles and all those things that we've seen
- 18:19Speaker 1: the last couple of years. From to uh under the
- 18:22Speaker 1: other staff, Oh j what is the one thing that
- 18:25Speaker 1: you would like to see from to uh? Assuming he's
- 18:28Speaker 1: health a back and ankle and all that in a
- 18:31Speaker 1: perfect world. Well, you know what, I think. I think
- 18:34Speaker 1: he's doing what I wanted to do. I wanted to
- 18:36Speaker 1: go with whatever the game plan is, and I think
- 18:38Speaker 1: the game plan has been just that. You know, look
- 18:40Speaker 1: at the last two games. We got down a lot
- 18:43Speaker 1: and he was able to go out there and throw
- 18:44Speaker 1: the ball around the yard and make big numbers. The
- 18:46Speaker 1: six touchdowns, you know, four hundred yards passing, and I
- 18:49Speaker 1: think that's that was part of what we had to
- 18:51Speaker 1: do with that at that point last game. You know,
- 18:54Speaker 1: they weren't giving us anything deep. They wouldn't. They knew
- 18:56Speaker 1: they want to keep everything in front of was, you know,
- 18:58Speaker 1: beat up secondary, and so he took whatever they gave us.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I think the best thing about Tour right now is
- 19:03Speaker 1: he's taking the game plan in doing whatever needs to
- 19:06Speaker 1: be done to be successful and not worried about gaudy numbers,
- 19:09Speaker 1: but making sure that we're successful. Wasn't offer as the
- 19:11Speaker 1: Dolphins try to go to four and oh for the
- 19:13Speaker 1: first time since your team coached by Don Shula, the
- 19:18Speaker 1: Hall of Fame and worked on Shula into the show
- 19:20Speaker 1: here Dolphins Bengals coming up tomorrow. O J McDuffie's podcast
- 19:24Speaker 1: Fish Tank eight one, O J. Stay safe. Always good
- 19:27Speaker 1: to see it. Thank you very much, appreciate you having
- 19:29Speaker 1: me Andrew, Yes, sir, oh J McDuffie. Everybody coming up
- 19:32Speaker 1: next they get a quarterbacks, we will continue the quarterback conversation.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Maybe talk to I don't know, can we work in
- 19:39Speaker 1: some Kyler Murray as well? Our Hall of Famer Kurt
- 19:42Speaker 1: Warner warming in the wings he's coming up next. All right,
- 19:54Speaker 1: let's double back to the Arizona Cardinals that they're on
- 19:56Speaker 1: the road this weekend Carolina to face the Panthers. A
- 19:58Speaker 1: week ago, we sat here and told you they were
- 20:00Speaker 1: gonna fix their first half offensive issues. They were gonna
- 20:04Speaker 1: come out with a better rep a better game plan,
- 20:06Speaker 1: something different in the first half. It did not happen.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Who puts together that first half game plan in Cliff Kingsbury. Yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 1: it's definitely collaborative. Um, you know, different position coaches have
- 20:19Speaker 1: different thoughts, different ideas, different um assignments as far as
- 20:23Speaker 1: what area they specialize in. And then um, we talked
- 20:27Speaker 1: through it with the quarterbacks and see what they like,
- 20:29Speaker 1: where they don't like, and try to come to a
- 20:30Speaker 1: good place with it. I mean it's you know, obviously
- 20:33Speaker 1: he's played color. It's just you know, he dolls it up.
- 20:36Speaker 1: But uh, we as as a as a unit, we
- 20:38Speaker 1: kind of have a ideal. What's coming up. Okay, let's
- 20:42Speaker 1: do cs I Cardinals offensive issues here. It's the quarterback room.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Great to have a Hall of Famer Kurt Warner here
- 20:49Speaker 1: is always on Wednesday. Kurt. It was the only story
- 20:52Speaker 1: last week, I mean, the only story, Like Zach Allen said, Hey,
- 20:55Speaker 1: this is the million dollar question. I granted he's the
- 20:58Speaker 1: defensive player, how do we collectively as a team played better.
- 21:01Speaker 1: They've been outscored fifties six to thirteen in the first half.
- 21:04Speaker 1: What's going on? Well, I mean, Andrew, it's not as
- 21:09Speaker 1: easy just saying hey, we're gonna flip a switch and
- 21:11Speaker 1: we're gonna be better this week than we were last
- 21:13Speaker 1: week at the beginning of the game. A lot of
- 21:15Speaker 1: it comes down to having something positive happen early, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 1: when when you talk about the script. We heard a
- 21:21Speaker 1: lot of talk about the script just a second ago,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and I remember when we were put together script when
- 21:25Speaker 1: I was playing, and I always wanted some easy completions
- 21:28Speaker 1: early in that script. Give me something to get me
- 21:31Speaker 1: into the game, to get us a couple of first downs,
- 21:33Speaker 1: so that things can be positive and we can build
- 21:36Speaker 1: off of that. And that's been the biggest thing with
- 21:38Speaker 1: the Cardinals is they haven't got anything really going early
- 21:41Speaker 1: in the game, and then I feel like they start
- 21:43Speaker 1: pressing like Okay, nothing's working, and then it comes down
- 21:46Speaker 1: to Kyler having to run around and make plays to
- 21:49Speaker 1: spark this team. They got to find a collective way
- 21:52Speaker 1: to generate some good, easy completion plays offensively early so
- 21:57Speaker 1: they can feel good about themselves and put a drive
- 22:00Speaker 1: together and then I think things start to snowball from
- 22:02Speaker 1: there and and maybe find a better way to run
- 22:04Speaker 1: the football is well. Fifty eight attempts last week for
- 22:06Speaker 1: Kyler Murray for a Mayor three fourteen. That's five point
- 22:09Speaker 1: four yards and attempt. He targeted Hollywood Brown seventeen times
- 22:15Speaker 1: pretty much any time he wasn't on the same side
- 22:17Speaker 1: of the field as Jalen Ramsey. All right, Kurt. Meantime
- 22:20Speaker 1: here in l A, Trevor Lawrence came to town. We
- 22:23Speaker 1: talked a lot all week about that Jaguars front seven
- 22:26Speaker 1: and can the Chargers protect Justin Herbert. Let's give Trevor
- 22:29Speaker 1: Lawrence the do because with Doug Peterson, he really has
- 22:35Speaker 1: matured year two. What do you see, what's the difference? Well, Andrew,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I'm actually breaking down Trevor Lawrence in my QB Insider
- 22:43Speaker 1: segment on NFL Plus, So everybody go out and get that.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Check it out and you can see a little more
- 22:48Speaker 1: in depth. But uh, Andrew, you know, we always talk
- 22:50Speaker 1: about players from year one to year two making their
- 22:53Speaker 1: biggest strides, and that's what I'm seeing from Trevor Lawrence.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Doesn't hurt that Doug Peterson has been inserted as their coach.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I like the scheme and what he's putting together. It's
- 23:02Speaker 1: easy to understand as a quarterback. But you're seeing a
- 23:04Speaker 1: lot of good things. You're seeing recognition of defense, recognition
- 23:08Speaker 1: of pressures. You're seeing a comfortability in the pocket. A
- 23:12Speaker 1: lot of times young guys will look at their first
- 23:13Speaker 1: guy and if he's not open, they start to panic.
- 23:16Speaker 1: They want to take off, they want to try to
- 23:17Speaker 1: create outside the pocket. I'm watching Trevor Lawrence this year
- 23:21Speaker 1: being more comfortable in the pocketing goes from one to three.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Bodies are around him, and because he's confident in where
- 23:27Speaker 1: he wants to go with the football and knowing things
- 23:28Speaker 1: are gonna be open, he'll stand in the pocket differently
- 23:31Speaker 1: than he did a year ago. So the combination of
- 23:34Speaker 1: being in year two with Doug Peterson in the scheme
- 23:38Speaker 1: that they have, it looks to be a really, really
- 23:40Speaker 1: confident Trevor Lawrence and it's showing up on the field.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I know you're digging in on the rams of the
- 23:44Speaker 1: Niners as well. You're calling that game Monday night in
- 23:47Speaker 1: Santa Clara on Westwood thought it was interesting last week,
- 23:51Speaker 1: and obviously that game Sunday night against Denver was ugly
- 23:54Speaker 1: all sides that Jimmy Garoppolo said, Hey, it's really my
- 23:57Speaker 1: first week working with these guys. Like, I mean, he
- 24:00Speaker 1: didn't have a training camp. Forget about not having a preseason,
- 24:03Speaker 1: he didn't have a training camp. Did we all collectively
- 24:07Speaker 1: maybe go too fast too soon with how everything is
- 24:10Speaker 1: solved for the Niners now that Jimmy is back, well,
- 24:15Speaker 1: probably because you know, you have to respect the league
- 24:19Speaker 1: and you have to respect the players that it's not
- 24:22Speaker 1: just as easy as oh, just throw me back out
- 24:24Speaker 1: on the field and I'm gonna be able to do
- 24:26Speaker 1: everything that I've done in the past. I mean, Jimmy
- 24:28Speaker 1: was going through the issue with his shoulder. He wasn't
- 24:31Speaker 1: going through training camp, and so it's not as easy.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I'm not even just talking about throwing the football.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'm talking about seeing the field, getting acclimated with the
- 24:40Speaker 1: speed of the game. He hasn't really played any football
- 24:43Speaker 1: in a long time, and so there were times that
- 24:46Speaker 1: it looked like the game was going fast. He wasn't
- 24:48Speaker 1: seeing the defense and he put the ball in harm's way,
- 24:51Speaker 1: And so that'll be something that we've got to determine.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Was that because of the rust and the time off.
- 24:57Speaker 1: We've seen some of that in the past from Jimmy
- 24:59Speaker 1: Garoppolo as well, kind of trusting the system without truly
- 25:02Speaker 1: seeing the field, and so, um, yeah, maybe we you know,
- 25:05Speaker 1: we jumped to things a little bit early, just expecting
- 25:08Speaker 1: the Jimmy G that we've seen in the past. But
- 25:11Speaker 1: we'll get an indication here over the next couple of weeks.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Is this Jimmy G being Jimmy G Or was it
- 25:16Speaker 1: just the rust of not having a lot of training
- 25:19Speaker 1: camp in a lot of reps because of that injury
- 25:21Speaker 1: in the situation in San Franciscan. In our final forty
- 25:23Speaker 1: five seconds, now, Kurt, my favorite topic are a weekly Kurt,
- 25:26Speaker 1: how does it feel to play quarterback with this kind
- 25:29Speaker 1: of injury? Uh? This week it's too a tongue of
- 25:31Speaker 1: boloa and a bad back. Well, you know, Andrew, I
- 25:35Speaker 1: have never dealt with a bad back. All I can
- 25:38Speaker 1: tell you is I've been around people with bad backs
- 25:41Speaker 1: and they look like they're about thirty years older than
- 25:43Speaker 1: they actually are, and everything that they do. Every movement
- 25:46Speaker 1: is affected by it, and so you know that's my concern.
- 25:49Speaker 1: You know, we talked last week about Justin Herbert and
- 25:51Speaker 1: the rib cartilage. That was the same thing. Every movement
- 25:54Speaker 1: you make, especially as a quarterback, you know, twisting your
- 25:56Speaker 1: body causes pain. I believe the same is going to
- 26:00Speaker 1: be true with two. And now I don't really know
- 26:02Speaker 1: the extent of the injury. Did it just lock up,
- 26:04Speaker 1: is it just muscle tightness? But I don't think it's
- 26:07Speaker 1: gonna be an easy thing. Really gonna have to get
- 26:08Speaker 1: it loose and um, you know, enduled that pain a
- 26:11Speaker 1: little bit. If he's gonna be able to go out
- 26:13Speaker 1: there and rip the ball as he has been the
- 26:15Speaker 1: last couple of weeks, we will find out his status
- 26:17Speaker 1: and if he can't go tomorrow, it's gonna be Teddy
- 26:19Speaker 1: Bridgewater potentially against the Cincinnati Bengals. Kurt Warner, our Hall
- 26:24Speaker 1: of Fame quarterback. What's good to have you on, Kurt,
- 26:27Speaker 1: Thank you, sir. Let's move on to the London game,
- 26:29Speaker 1: as everyone's going to get up early for game day
- 26:31Speaker 1: morning on Sunday, uh to see the Vikings and the Saints.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And how about these Vikings fans a Manchester group here
- 26:40Speaker 1: supporting their Vikings come Sunday. The Vikings don't even get
- 26:44Speaker 1: there until Friday. Right now, they're in Minneapolis and flying
- 26:47Speaker 1: on Thursday night. The Saints, however, are already there and
- 26:52Speaker 1: they were back on the practice field today wearing some
- 26:54Speaker 1: pretty cool helmets, their new black helmets, the alternate ones
- 26:59Speaker 1: that they'll be wearing at Tottenham on Sunday. What a
- 27:02Speaker 1: day for Chris Lave this past week nine hatches a
- 27:05Speaker 1: buck forty seven that got the rookie wide receiver. An
- 27:08Speaker 1: interview with Stacy Dale's Saints rookie wide receiver Crystal Love.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Taking just a bit of a break from your London preparation.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Where's your body at? That's feeling good? I mean a
- 27:21Speaker 1: couple of weeks in. I mean it's a long rookie year,
- 27:24Speaker 1: but I feel like I'm going good. I'm getting a
- 27:26Speaker 1: lot of treatment, a lot of stretching, so I feel
- 27:28Speaker 1: like I'm good. You're getting a lot of targets, obviously,
- 27:31Speaker 1: and you should. Um, how have you adjusted so quickly
- 27:34Speaker 1: to the game the NFL league. I feel like it
- 27:36Speaker 1: was natural. I feel like my teammates helped me allot
- 27:39Speaker 1: get to this point. And they didn't make it easier
- 27:41Speaker 1: on me, especially having Mike Jarvis, having James at quarterback
- 27:45Speaker 1: and hey k and Mark in the backfield, I feel
- 27:47Speaker 1: like to help me a lot, just help me keep
- 27:50Speaker 1: pushing forward. Ye, Jamie is obviously is pushing through some injuries.
- 27:54Speaker 1: So how is the football coming out? Understanding? You guys
- 27:57Speaker 1: want to clean collectively the turnovers up? Right? Oh, he's good,
- 28:00Speaker 1: he's good. Yeah, you can see you could tell he's
- 28:03Speaker 1: dealing with injury. But the end of the day, he's
- 28:05Speaker 1: a fighter, he's a competitor, and we all respect him
- 28:08Speaker 1: and we all love him as a quarterback. So I
- 28:10Speaker 1: definitely respect him and I can't wait to see what
- 28:12Speaker 1: he does throughout her You guys are one and two,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but it doesn't feel like with the talent on this team,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you should be right. This roster's loaded offensively. Where is
- 28:21Speaker 1: your wide receiver group? Despite the injuries to Jarvis obviously
- 28:25Speaker 1: in Michael, you know, where's your mindset and your confidence? Uh?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Confidence at all time high still no matter what I
- 28:32Speaker 1: feel like, you can't lose a confidence and the mindset
- 28:35Speaker 1: and that every change its competitors at the end of
- 28:38Speaker 1: the day and rough start. But we're gonna clean it
- 28:41Speaker 1: up and we're taking a day by day. He's trying
- 28:43Speaker 1: to get better. Cliche question, how important is this win
- 28:46Speaker 1: for you guys here in London and and sort of
- 28:48Speaker 1: a galvanizing week. It's just you guys sort of here
- 28:51Speaker 1: all by yourselves, tucked away, getting ready for the Minnesota Vikings.
- 28:55Speaker 1: That's huge. It's a huge, huge game for us just
- 28:59Speaker 1: to get back and reset. But we take it as
- 29:02Speaker 1: as one game. I mean, I mean we lost laws
- 29:05Speaker 1: to one one, but we're just trying to get another one.
- 29:08Speaker 1: And like I said, we're taken a day by day.
- 29:10Speaker 1: You're trying to get better and we will be ready
- 29:11Speaker 1: on Sunday. Thank you, Chris, appreciate it. But one of
- 29:14Speaker 1: two Saints. Try to get even here with the game
- 29:16Speaker 1: against the Vikings that you can see on NFL Network
- 29:19Speaker 1: and on NFL Plus if you want to stream it
- 29:21Speaker 1: at nine thirty Eastern time, right and early on Sunday,
- 29:25Speaker 1: even earlier for us here in l A. Kick off
- 29:29Speaker 1: seven am. Do the math. Four am. If you're in
- 29:32Speaker 1: l A, do the math. What do I look like?
- 29:36Speaker 1: A doctor? An orthopedic surgeon? Like I don't know, doctor, doctor, doctor,
- 29:43Speaker 1: doctor Bill Belichick. Everybody time for one more thing before
- 29:47Speaker 1: we go. James Palmer doctor go first. Yeah, I feel
- 29:51Speaker 1: like he's on as well, on his way to a
- 29:52Speaker 1: children's book with that day by day situation. But I
- 29:54Speaker 1: know we're all excited about the Redeemed Team documentary coming
- 29:57Speaker 1: after we saw that Kobe Bryant clip of him talking
- 30:00Speaker 1: about he's gonna run through his brother Paul Gassaul right
- 30:02Speaker 1: when they play them in the Olympics. Well, that was
- 30:06Speaker 1: a video that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni saw on
- 30:09Speaker 1: the bus ride to Washington. Thought it was unbelievably fitting. Right,
- 30:11Speaker 1: they're going against their brother in Carson Wentz where they
- 30:14Speaker 1: sack him nine times. The interesting part is final score
- 30:17Speaker 1: of that game to eight m M. I see what
- 30:23Speaker 1: you did there, Ian Rappaport war Mooring thing. That's pretty
- 30:28Speaker 1: cool thing that the league is doing for weeks four
- 30:30Speaker 1: and five. So starting this week, two hundred players get
- 30:33Speaker 1: to celebrate their international place of origin in the place
- 30:36Speaker 1: they associate most closely with, with either flags or dick
- 30:40Speaker 1: cows on their jerseys or helmets. So more than two
- 30:43Speaker 1: hundred players, coaches and executives get celebrate. It is pretty
- 30:47Speaker 1: cool you got alright. At halftime of the Vikings Saints game,
- 30:51Speaker 1: I know we all cannot wait to see Young Blood perform.
- 30:56Speaker 1: If you're watching, NFL Network will be showing you clips
- 30:58Speaker 1: of that. If you're watching a broad Sky Sports will
- 31:02Speaker 1: play the entirety of the show at halftime. Blood will
- 31:05Speaker 1: be great to see his fantastic My one more thing
- 31:09Speaker 1: is an injury um day. Christian McCaffrey joke last week
- 31:11Speaker 1: that if he has to use the men's room, he's
- 31:13Speaker 1: probably gonna end up on the injury report. Well, actually
- 31:16Speaker 1: on the injury report today for what the Panthers are
- 31:19Speaker 1: calling a thigh injury. Did not practice something to monitor
- 31:24Speaker 1: there in Carolina. Backing up, Ian, did you say deco
- 31:30Speaker 1: decal to Cali. Yeah, it's like to cal It's like
- 31:36Speaker 1: that methemo. Yeah, it's methema. It's a great out. NFL
