- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo. Ready for another bite-sized lesson? Luna: So ready. Last time we got fresh bread at the bakery. That was fun. What's on the menu today? Lucas: Today we're going to a breakfast spot. And we're ordering one of the most famous South Indian dishes. Idli. Luna: Oh, I love idli. Soft, fluffy, perfect with chutney. So how do I say 'I want idli'? Lucas: Great start. In Telugu, 'I want idli' is Let's hear it slowly. That's not too hard. నాకు means 'to me', కావాలి means 'want'. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you want two idlis, you say రెండు is 'two', ఇవ్వండి is 'give'. Two idlis, please. I can do this. Lucas: Perfect. And of course, idli is nothing without chutney. So you might say చట్నీ ఇవ్వండి. That means 'give chutney'. Luna: చట్నీ ఇవ్వండి. So if I want both idli and chutney, I could say Lucas: That's a great sentence. You're putting it together really well. Now, when the food comes, you might want to ask the price. ఇది ఎంత? means 'how much is this?' Luna: ఇది ఎంత? I remember that from the sweet shop. It's a classic. Lucas: Indeed. And after you taste it, you'll probably say చాలా బాగుంది. That means 'it's very good'. Luna: చాలా బాగుంది. So I can eat my idli, smile, and say చాలా బాగుంది. Lucas: And you'll make the cook very happy. Let's practice the full scene. You walk in, you say Then after they bring it, ఇది ఎంత? They say the price, I pay, I eat, and I say చాలా బాగుంది. Lucas: You've got it.
