- 0:27Hey, everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we are talking about labels and how quick we are to
- 0:33label ourselves. You know, it's really an an
- 0:37interesting fact of how quick we are willing to say that we have
- 0:42all these things that nobody would choose as a label.
- 0:48Typically we wouldn't choose them to say, oh, it's just that
- 0:50I'm lazy or it's just that I have imposter syndrome or this
- 0:55or that. And it gives us permission to
- 0:57not take ownership of it and do something about it.
- 1:01So I'm going to challenge everybody today to ditch their
- 1:04labels and just start with a clean slate.
- 1:06Let's wipe the board clean and say if I didn't want to use
- 1:09labels, if I just wanted to talk about things and have it be in a
- 1:13way where I know for a fact I can start to see myself
- 1:17differently, I can start to change what I'm doing, what
- 1:21would happen. So think of it like this.
- 1:24If you think for a second that you have imposter syndrome and
- 1:28you're constantly focused on that because it's an identifier
- 1:33of how you've shown up in the past, which may be true, how
- 1:36you've shown up may be very true, but it's just because
- 1:39you've been unaware of the emotion that's driving you.
- 1:42So you're obviously living in that emotion because you don't
- 1:45know it's driving you and that emotion is dictating all of your
- 1:48outcomes. And you keep letting this 13
- 1:50year old that has in in your head still driving the bus who's
- 1:54been picked on in school or marginalized or whatever.
- 1:57Instead, you're just letting that that particular set of
- 2:01emotions drive. And now all of a sudden you've
- 2:04given yourself a syndrome and then all of a sudden now we have
- 2:07an excuse as to why we can't fix it.
- 2:09So we have to ditch all of that. We have to start thinking
- 2:13differently about all of that. We have to start to have to
- 2:15change our approach. We have to say, you know, I'm
- 2:18going to observe what drivers I have.
- 2:22I'm going to go back to the who's driving your bus content
- 2:24and I'm going to look at who are these drivers that seem to have
- 2:27such a hold in my bus, Who are the ones that are causing me all
- 2:31this aggravation? And then I'm going to do
- 2:33something about it. I'm going to change it because
- 2:35the moment you start doing that, you start to empower yourself
- 2:39again. You start to take back what
- 2:41needs to be done for yourself. And then everything shifts,
- 2:45because now you're truly in charge of yourself.
- 2:48You're truly moving in a direction where you say, OK,
- 2:51what's a better driver? What's a better way for me to
- 2:54think about this, show up and be this way it.
- 2:57It's not an easy process to do this, my friends.
- 3:00Like, let me promise you, it's not an easy it.
- 3:02It is so simple, but not easy. That's why I put that on the
- 3:06cover of the book. It's a simple process, you know,
- 3:09but it's not easy. It is one of those things that
- 3:11you have to be on it and do it over and over and over because
- 3:15it's necessary to get the pattern interrupted and then
- 3:20broken and then reset. Can't go to the gym once and
- 3:24expect a fabulous outcome. Have to go to the gym
- 3:27repetitively to get the outcome. You know, my husband works out
- 3:30like crazy and I watch him and and over the course of his level
- 3:34of commitment over the last year and a half to what he wanted to
- 3:37get to, it has taken a tremendous amount of work.
- 3:40But it's paid off. And he looks amazing.
- 3:43He looks amazing and I'm so proud of him for how hard he's
- 3:46worked with it. But he didn't buy it, that his
- 3:49body structure was a certain way and he couldn't do it or
- 3:52whatever else. People would know.
- 3:54It's just the way you are. It's what happens when you age.
- 3:56Oh, that's one of my biggest pet peeve ones is when you buy into
- 3:59that ideology of like okay aging means you're just going to slow
- 4:03down. No, that is not what it means.
- 4:07Obviously, when we talked about some of the stuff last week from
- 4:11the Blue Zones, my goodness, that certainly is not the case.
- 4:14There are people out there who are living their best lives and
- 4:18they're in their 90s and they're strong and they're still working
- 4:21out and they're still doing incredible things that just
- 4:24you'd be astonished. People here in their 60s can't
- 4:27do all about that basic label you're going to come back and
- 4:32put on yourself. So you've got to ditch the
- 4:35labels. So the question you have to ask
- 4:37yourself today is what labels am I putting on myself?
- 4:40What things am I telling myself that I clearly should not be
- 4:44telling myself? What are the things that I know?
- 4:47If I changed those, things would absolutely shift.
- 4:51How I see the world, how I operate in the world, how I show
- 4:55up in the world, all of that. All of it will change.
- 4:58But it only comes down to you doing it.
- 5:00You are the only one that can control it.
- 5:02Because that secret conversation that's going on behind in your
- 5:05head, none of us know unless you tell us.
- 5:08And when you start telling it out loud, then it starts to
- 5:12become a reality. But it works both ways.
- 5:14If you're using it in the negative, it works.
- 5:15And if it works in the positive, If it works, you start talking
- 5:18about the positive. It works in the positive, which
- 5:20is why you have to shift it and move into the positive things
- 5:24that you want to create, not the limiting things that are
- 5:27happening around you. So go do some digging and figure
- 5:30out what your labels are. All right, my friends, I'll see
- 5:32you tomorrow. Have a blessed day.
- 5:34Bye.
