- 0:06Speaker 1: two legends in here. The new album Tales from the Hood.
- 0:10Speaker 1: By the time you see this, it'll be out.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Go stream it.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You will enjoy it. Is it a very, very incredible
- 0:15Speaker 1: body of work. Eleven songs straight, just fucking cohesive, West
- 0:19Speaker 1: Coast classic vibes. We got corrupt, We got battle Cat
- 0:24Speaker 1: in the building, the one two punch. What's up, fellas,
- 0:27Speaker 1: how y'all doing?
- 0:28Speaker 2: We're good? What's going on?
- 0:29Speaker 3: Good looking for having this cave?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Back again?
- 0:33Speaker 1: You are back man. You guys obviously have classic music
- 0:37Speaker 1: together already. What was the idea to say, you know what,
- 0:41Speaker 1: let's get together and let's do a whole project.
- 0:45Speaker 4: We've been trying to get that accomplished for many years.
- 0:50Speaker 4: When we got originally you know, it's battle Cat, Yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 4: who I first worked with when I was a kid.
- 0:58Speaker 4: So when went solo and left Death Row, I basically
- 1:04Speaker 4: told John McClain and Big Redge, they said, who you
- 1:07Speaker 4: want to work with production? I said, go get battle
- 1:09Speaker 4: Cat so we can start where.
- 1:12Speaker 3: We ended off, which was in the hood.
- 1:14Speaker 4: We started now we're gonna start again here and that's
- 1:18Speaker 4: crazy because we started working on my next solo album Space.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Nope, this is after Spacebook and all that, right, And
- 1:26Speaker 3: if I'm.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Not mistaken, I think I just got back with Snoop
- 1:29Speaker 4: and the homies. We did Cali is Active. This is
- 1:33Speaker 4: after Cali is Active.
- 1:34Speaker 5: By the way, one of the most legendary music videos.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Every other videos.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And uh and quick.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Everybody was in it, even like the underground, like dilated people.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:48Speaker 4: That was a beautiful day. Dog Dog put that together
- 1:52Speaker 4: so elegantly, and everybody came out and showed out for
- 1:55Speaker 4: all of us, Battle Cat for me and Dad and everybody,
- 1:59Speaker 4: and Snoopy.
- 2:00Speaker 3: But that's you know.
- 2:01Speaker 4: After that, I got with Cat and he said, we're
- 2:05Speaker 4: gonna start working on your next solo album.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I say, cool.
- 2:08Speaker 4: First record we made was Mystic River. So ten eleven
- 2:14Speaker 4: years later, you know, Snoop comes to me and Cat
- 2:19Speaker 4: because Snoop co manages me with my wife Lisa, and
- 2:23Speaker 4: he comes to Cat and myself and says, okay, so
- 2:27Speaker 4: it's time for corrupt solo thing. And he says corrupt
- 2:31Speaker 4: battle Cat gonna produce it all. Me and Cat is
- 2:33Speaker 4: just stuff like Wow, we finally get the opportunity to
- 2:36Speaker 4: do this.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So do you feel good to put out mister River
- 2:39Speaker 1: after so many years? Definitely, it don't sound like it
- 2:42Speaker 1: sounds like y'all just did it.
- 2:44Speaker 4: And you know it's crazy to put it out on
- 2:46Speaker 4: this level though, because I threw it on a mixtape
- 2:48Speaker 4: way out just to see what people thought. I couldn't
- 2:51Speaker 4: hold it no more. I can't lie, and it just
- 2:53Speaker 4: went everywhere. But it's never been.
- 2:54Speaker 3: On an actual real project.
- 2:57Speaker 4: We're saving it for my solo, so that's one of
- 3:00Speaker 4: the first things we went was took that we're gonna
- 3:02Speaker 4: make the basis from this. Everything else is spanking brand new.
- 3:06Speaker 4: And stories was the main kick to it. Kendrick really
- 3:10Speaker 4: sent me on the page when I was working on this.
- 3:13Speaker 4: I love his stories, I said, you know what, He
- 3:16Speaker 4: was the inspiration because I'm gonna give a lot of stories.
- 3:18Speaker 4: And then Cat got these beats that just help you
- 3:22Speaker 4: to make this movie. Each one of his beats is
- 3:28Speaker 4: a score, so all I gotta do is pin the
- 3:33Speaker 4: script to this score.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And that's that's what it felt like.
- 3:37Speaker 2: That turned into a full track. So I know he
- 3:40Speaker 2: said beats, but you know, I'm a man and know
- 3:42Speaker 2: how to fully produce and I thank God for this
- 3:45Speaker 2: dude Corrupt because he was part of my upbringing before death.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Row to.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Go from a beat maker to a real certified producer
- 3:57Speaker 2: who understands the arrangements and bringing all uh.
- 4:02Speaker 1: The white people.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Always been a producer, even the records we made when
- 4:07Speaker 4: I was a kid man fall in love that wasn't produced.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I was producing. But you know, I just want the
- 4:14Speaker 2: people to hear the beat making. It's another level of
- 4:19Speaker 2: being a full fledged musician, who can play drums, who
- 4:23Speaker 2: can engineer, who can bring the right singers in uh rings,
- 4:29Speaker 2: And it's all that.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I really want to follow.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Uh the greats that done it and and R and
- 4:36Speaker 2: B and and and uh R and B and uh
- 4:40Speaker 2: and Uh. I say R and B, R and B
- 4:42Speaker 2: and rock and roll. I ain't gonna lie. I love
- 4:44Speaker 2: them both jazz too, and then you know, and then
- 4:47Speaker 2: when hip hop came, it was it was. It was
- 4:49Speaker 2: the next, the next level of following the greats like
- 4:52Speaker 2: DJ Pool and UH and Doctor Dre and Uh. We
- 4:57Speaker 2: didn't we didn't, we didn't stop. I just want to
- 5:00Speaker 2: get this man a sound that would really vibrate the
- 5:05Speaker 2: nation because we in another level of understanding all of
- 5:11Speaker 2: records that was done from Corrupt with some beautiful pieces.
- 5:14Speaker 2: But to have one man, to have one sound behind
- 5:17Speaker 2: this one man, it's phenomenal now and they can understand
- 5:22Speaker 2: how a one producer can really get it off the
- 5:25Speaker 2: same way with Hi Boy. Hit Boy did the same thing.
- 5:28Speaker 2: He's another one that touched me greatly. And his contribution
- 5:33Speaker 2: with nas Oh my god. So you know what I
- 5:36Speaker 2: wanted to do. I want to make sure we called
- 5:39Speaker 2: all a ka. You know, Corrupt have the finest things.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That was going to set this movement off.
- 5:45Speaker 1: This has been my favorite, I think. I mean I
- 5:47Speaker 1: didn't get to the last two tracks because I was
- 5:50Speaker 1: because he said it to me pretty late last night,
- 5:53Speaker 1: so I didn't get to listen to the record rbax
- 5:55Speaker 1: the last BJ record better when I heard man, it's
- 5:58Speaker 1: it's probably my favorite in the new era death Jam
- 6:00Speaker 1: or death Row. This is my favorite album that Glad
- 6:04Speaker 1: said death Jam too, because you know I'm a part
- 6:06Speaker 1: of that too. I'm glad you said that. My first
- 6:08Speaker 1: hit is with death Jam all the way to death Row.
- 6:11Speaker 1: So what was your first hit? Was a ghetto jam dom? Yeah?
- 6:15Speaker 2: And that's a guy yeah yeah, yeah, ninety four and
- 6:19Speaker 2: he grew up with with Domino. Domino grew up with
- 6:22Speaker 2: with with Snoopy as well, and so to have that
- 6:25Speaker 2: backbone the voice. Yeah, all the whole album, you know,
- 6:29Speaker 2: except for one record produced by A by by AMG
- 6:33Speaker 2: What's up? AMG? And H. But it was it was
- 6:36Speaker 2: a dope, dope foundation to really get in the game
- 6:39Speaker 2: because that was the record that certified battle Cat.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You know you're seeing going that way, sweet Potato, you.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Hear me, Domino don't get talked about enough, man, Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: that's my guy. Great body, what's up?
- 6:55Speaker 3: Boy?
- 6:57Speaker 1: So like it feels like like I was saying, like
- 7:00Speaker 1: you got the features on this album, feels like like
- 7:03Speaker 1: I feel like like the Jane features, the BJ features,
- 7:06Speaker 1: Like is that is that you being like okay, I
- 7:09Speaker 1: can hear BJ on this or is that like.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I like how you said that that's Snoop. Yeah, it's
- 7:15Speaker 2: it's Snoopy and it's myself. We both are playing ping
- 7:18Speaker 2: pong with this thing.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You know. You's take a lot of guest pilots on
- 7:23Speaker 1: the album.
- 7:23Speaker 5: We got Snoop on some records. You got Jane Hancoff
- 7:26Speaker 5: some records.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, he wanted he wanted this foundation that already exists
- 7:31Speaker 2: on the label, which was a very unique idea, you
- 7:34Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, because I remember how death Row
- 7:36Speaker 2: was back in the days. It wasn't nobody outside being
- 7:39Speaker 2: a part of the situation. Yeah yeah, they cut that out. Features.
- 7:43Speaker 2: They're all in house, you know, incredible talent, but we
- 7:47Speaker 2: found uh, you know, BJ has always been a death
- 7:51Speaker 2: Row and West Coast family out of Chicago. He got
- 7:54Speaker 2: classics with Kendrick Yeah, come on, man, I mean I
- 7:57Speaker 2: got classics with him in an earlier upcoming vibes, you know,
- 8:02Speaker 2: of doing doing hits. So we've been connected in more
- 8:06Speaker 2: ways than you can imagine. So I couldn't help but
- 8:09Speaker 2: hear his voice and anyone else who had to be
- 8:12Speaker 2: on there, Charlie Burrell.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I got to give it to him. Charlie Burrell did
- 8:15Speaker 1: the record that you like?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Uh what you do to me?
- 8:19Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we weren't playing with that. I had to get him.
- 8:22Speaker 2: You know, he's got attack come on, yeah, yeah, the
- 8:27Speaker 2: way to kick the album off. What's the other one?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Stay mind state? Yeah, we got him a mind state.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Don't get toll. Charlie Burrell.
- 8:40Speaker 3: He killed him with that. You know what I'm saying.
- 8:43Speaker 3: BJ's on that one.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Too, and then we let Charlie Burrell just express his
- 8:48Speaker 4: musical muscle, you know, with the guitar and bringing that
- 8:52Speaker 4: that blue soul.
- 8:53Speaker 2: If people forgot about that, Like, man, we was raised
- 8:56Speaker 2: on all that, Like how could you say we got
- 8:58Speaker 2: to just be one way? But when we grew up
- 9:01Speaker 2: and you heard our production, if you really was in tune,
- 9:03Speaker 2: you'll go, oh my god, this makes sense. This is
- 9:07Speaker 2: a wide range of a production. You know, me being
- 9:10Speaker 2: fifty eight years old, I still feel like, you know
- 9:13Speaker 2: how Michael Jackson and Q and Q got a Quincy Jones,
- 9:17Speaker 2: They did a phenomenal movement when he was fifty. So
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'm fifty eight. I feel like the nineties all over
- 9:25Speaker 2: again through this twenty twenty six movement with this corrupt.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Record in battlecap Man, thank you bo Pooh you already
- 9:33Speaker 1: know baby. Our family at odd Socks they have been

- 9:54Speaker 1: socks in my house. And obviously there's competing brands that
- 9:59Speaker 1: might you might be used to wearing the white tube socks. Listen,
- 10:03Speaker 1: not only are these better, they're more affordable. Uh and

- 10:49Speaker 1: into the interview. I'm curious saying to you dropped the
- 10:54Speaker 1: you drop corruption. It's a double album, it's on Answer.
- 10:57Speaker 1: This is your first venture outside of you know, yes
- 11:00Speaker 1: it is death Row. So it was important. How important
- 11:06Speaker 1: was it to have a song like we can Freak It,
- 11:09Speaker 1: like really kind of solidify your presence at radio? And
- 11:13Speaker 1: I feel like that was the record that kind of
- 11:15Speaker 1: showed everybody like, oh no corrupts, like hes gonna be
- 11:17Speaker 1: all right. You know.
- 11:19Speaker 4: The thing was, like I said, John McClain and Big Red,
- 11:27Speaker 4: he sent REGs to come give me. But the key
- 11:29Speaker 4: was the key words they used was who do you
- 11:34Speaker 4: want to fuck with? Production wise, you know, with the music.
- 11:39Speaker 4: And I said, go get battle Cat. Let's just start
- 11:42Speaker 4: my my new venture. Let's started off with me and
- 11:46Speaker 4: battle Cat. We never had the opportunity to really work
- 11:50Speaker 4: and actually put out, you know, some product. So they win,
- 11:54Speaker 4: got me battle Cat. We made under pressure and then
- 11:57Speaker 4: we made we can Freak It, and uh, we can
- 12:01Speaker 4: freak it. Just when we heard it, it was just
- 12:05Speaker 4: like I said, Damn, I made it. I think I
- 12:09Speaker 4: think I really made it. My nigga, you know what
- 12:11Speaker 4: I'm saying, this ship right here is unheard of. And
- 12:14Speaker 4: I even went back and got Dazz. And I went
- 12:17Speaker 4: back and got doctor Dre. I asked yourself a question.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I got Dazz, and uh who that think the monster
- 12:24Speaker 4: who put that was on the streets is the mother?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay, I'm just making sure.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Doctor Dre Dazz.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's not on the week.
- 12:38Speaker 4: You know, the first record we made with him, his
- 12:41Speaker 4: girls are Paul Okay trilogy all right? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 4: those was the kids right there, and then.
- 12:51Speaker 1: That that's the sea walk right there's this sea walk.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Dads did fresh you know what I'm saying, went back
- 12:59Speaker 4: to dad the first to go to cat and get
- 13:02Speaker 4: this original corrupt that they ain't hurt yet. Yeah boom
- 13:08Speaker 4: from there. Okay, now I gotta go get the corrupt.
- 13:10Speaker 4: They love dads and nothing like corrupting dads cause nothing,
- 13:16Speaker 4: so Boomer to go and get the key the doc.
- 13:22Speaker 4: You can't beat corrupting doctor Dre. But we never had
- 13:25Speaker 4: that one record just me and because so this is
- 13:30Speaker 4: this is epic. I'm getting my first real record with
- 13:33Speaker 4: just me and doctor Dre. Del Mar's back at it
- 13:37Speaker 4: gave me one of my biggest classics in the streets
- 13:40Speaker 4: and in this game Seawalk.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And then I started with.
- 13:46Speaker 4: The producer who originally was a part of who is
- 13:51Speaker 4: actually a foundational member of Building Corrupt from the door,
- 13:58Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, which was battle. Okay, so
- 14:01Speaker 4: this this was a beautiful album for me.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Then I went to the Bay and I got studio
- 14:05Speaker 3: to it was like this too, was like the.
- 14:07Speaker 5: East Coast vibe.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You had Buckshaw on there.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Which is that's another thing. You know, also got a
- 14:11Speaker 4: chance to give it up to the two places that make.
- 14:14Speaker 1: People who don't know you're born in Philly right in
- 14:15Speaker 1: the East, Yes sir, Yes, California, man, Philornia, and.
- 14:22Speaker 3: That that was a beautiful thing. I was able to
- 14:23Speaker 3: give it up for both.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I really enjoyed you gote Nori at the time on
- 14:28Speaker 1: the remix to the East Coast Weekend freaking remix.
- 14:30Speaker 3: That's right with with Stevie J on the beat. Yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 3: Stevie J did this lead Stevie.
- 14:37Speaker 1: That was back in the day when when remixes happened,
- 14:41Speaker 1: there'd be a whole new beat.
- 14:42Speaker 4: That was like remix back then, you know what I'm saying,
- 14:44Speaker 4: where they make a whole new beat, and you redid
- 14:47Speaker 4: your lyrics, became with new lyrics to it, added new people,
- 14:50Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, like, uh, flavor in your
- 14:53Speaker 4: ear remix.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Yeah, all the stuff j D would flip if your
- 14:58Speaker 1: main flipp then my bad Drew Hill and then the
- 15:01Speaker 1: remix remix.
- 15:04Speaker 4: In the switch of the beat, and you know that
- 15:06Speaker 4: was the beauty of it back then. And Stevie J.
- 15:10Speaker 3: He was he was a bad boy back then. Stevie J.
- 15:13Speaker 1: He was a hit man. He's a hit Yeah.
- 15:15Speaker 4: And he came and laced my trucks with the beat
- 15:19Speaker 4: and then came we could freak it out?
- 15:21Speaker 3: What we could freak it out? That's that?
- 15:23Speaker 2: What what? What?
- 15:24Speaker 1: What's that?
- 15:25Speaker 4: That's so crazy?
- 15:27Speaker 3: That was fun and you know they made l A
- 15:30Speaker 3: l A so that was also classic.
- 15:33Speaker 4: That was the first record of this unification of me
- 15:37Speaker 4: and Noriega, you know what I'm saying. And then after
- 15:40Speaker 4: that me Prodigy and Havoc Mob Deep we got our
- 15:44Speaker 4: thing together and Copone was gone at the time. He
- 15:48Speaker 4: was like, pin, that's well, I gave it up for Copone,
- 15:51Speaker 4: which is, you know, one of Dazz's best friends now
- 15:53Speaker 4: and mine. So Nori and Copone seeing then in DPG
- 15:57Speaker 4: we run this ye mean, life is crazy.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Did you get any blowback from working with Nori based
- 16:02Speaker 1: on the fact you guys did New York New York
- 16:03Speaker 1: they did La La.
- 16:05Speaker 4: No, Actually we got to blow up because people were
- 16:08Speaker 4: happy about it.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Loving.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it was loving the fact that Nori and Corrupt
- 16:12Speaker 4: was together on a record. This felt like, man, that
- 16:15Speaker 4: East Coast West Coast shit is over right, you know
- 16:19Speaker 4: what I'm saying. This is the unification And that's when
- 16:22Speaker 4: my album represented unification? Was it West Coast and the
- 16:25Speaker 4: East Coast where I'm from and where I'm at boom
- 16:29Speaker 4: just giving it to them all?
- 16:30Speaker 1: Was that important for you because obviously you you've been
- 16:32Speaker 1: a part of, you know, in proximity at least to
- 16:35Speaker 1: a lot of the East Coast West Coast. Ship Pocket
- 16:37Speaker 1: already passed Big he had already passed. It was a
- 16:39Speaker 1: very you know, traumatic time for hip hop. So for
- 16:42Speaker 1: you to be like, yo, I'm coming out with my
- 16:44Speaker 1: first solo album leaving Death Row and it's gonna be
- 16:49Speaker 1: East Coast this too, West Coast disc one, bringing everybody together?
- 16:54Speaker 1: Was that was that very like like you were self
- 16:56Speaker 1: conscious that that was an important thing to push.
- 16:58Speaker 3: It was the most import with all the East Coast
- 17:03Speaker 3: West Coast stuff going on and all that that.
- 17:06Speaker 4: You know what, you know, they know me as the West.
- 17:09Speaker 4: They know I'm from the East Coast. I'm from Philly,
- 17:12Speaker 4: Darby Township, Shone Hill, but I've never done anything dedicated
- 17:19Speaker 4: to where I was born. So I gave this whole
- 17:22Speaker 4: East Coast section of the project.
- 17:26Speaker 3: And remember this is.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Right after all eyes on me, So inspiration came from
- 17:34Speaker 4: Park to be able to do a double CD. And
- 17:38Speaker 4: here I can give it up for the West Coast
- 17:40Speaker 4: and then I can give it up for the East Coast.
- 17:43Speaker 4: That was just everything to me, you know what I'm saying,
- 17:45Speaker 4: to show the East my love for them and appreciation,
- 17:48Speaker 4: to give it up for the West, who basically made Corrupt.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Here just my first entrance into the solo game. It's
- 17:54Speaker 4: a dedication record where I got the producer who was
- 18:00Speaker 4: there in the beginning of Corrupt, the producer who believed
- 18:05Speaker 4: in Corrupt afterwards, doctor Dre, and the producer who was
- 18:09Speaker 4: my best friend and my brother Daz, and then producers
- 18:12Speaker 4: I wanted to work with all this time, like a studio.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Tone out the bay.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Yeah, you know who does sick with it and forty
- 18:21Speaker 4: and all of that right there.
- 18:22Speaker 3: So I got out there.
- 18:23Speaker 4: What got to knock that down storm out in Jersey,
- 18:28Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. Got to work with him.
- 18:29Speaker 4: He brought the venoms to the table. It was like
- 18:32Speaker 4: the female Wu Tang, you know what I'm saying, and
- 18:35Speaker 4: Davante Davonte swang from Joonesy.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I always wanted to know for you. You were an
- 18:44Speaker 1: instrumental part of the Bang on Wax album, which is
- 18:47Speaker 1: ninety three. Gang culture is at an all time high.
- 18:51Speaker 1: The movie Colors has been out. I mean it's boys
- 18:53Speaker 1: in the Hood, boys in the Hood, all of this,
- 18:56Speaker 1: and like there's all this a lot of people who
- 18:59Speaker 1: aren't from Los Angeles. There's this lure about the gang
- 19:02Speaker 1: culture in California and the fact that this album came
- 19:05Speaker 1: out where you had Bluzz and Grips on the cover,
- 19:07Speaker 1: and it felt like a bit. It was being a
- 19:11Speaker 1: kid from Phoenix who ain't from LA seeing that ship,
- 19:13Speaker 1: seeing that my cousin.
- 19:14Speaker 5: CD books, I'm like, oh, this is crazy.
- 19:16Speaker 1: This is whose idea was it? And then how did
- 19:20Speaker 1: you kind of get brought in to help with the
- 19:22Speaker 1: production And was there ever any like real blowback from
- 19:26Speaker 1: the making of this album.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Well, Red Rum out of Inglewood and Tweaty bird Lok
- 19:33Speaker 2: from Kelly Park was the original founders of Banging on
- 19:39Speaker 2: Wax and always been friends with them both for about at.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Least two or three years.
- 19:46Speaker 2: So we had a cool relationship and that's what bonded
- 19:51Speaker 2: the respect that we had for one another, because that
- 19:54Speaker 2: had to happen first, you know, I know, I really
- 19:57Speaker 2: understand the back dry oup and and and the movement
- 20:03Speaker 2: of of of that gang culture, you know, and we
- 20:09Speaker 2: wanted to do something different and showed that it's uh,
- 20:15Speaker 2: the skill set of being a rapper's beautiful, but when
- 20:20Speaker 2: you decide to be an EMC, like corrupting all the
- 20:24Speaker 2: rest of the you know, Ice Tea and anyone else
- 20:27Speaker 2: who told the story too is well from the West Coast.
- 20:31Speaker 2: We wanted to show that that they do have a
- 20:36Speaker 2: voice as well, because that's been a part of the
- 20:39Speaker 2: upbringing of MC eight and DJ Quick and anyone you
- 20:43Speaker 2: can think of Game, you know, YG or anyone else
- 20:46Speaker 2: who come out the hood you know problems, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 2: Glasses Malone just to name a few. You know, because
- 20:53Speaker 2: we do have this young and older generation that that
- 20:57Speaker 2: always been like a crazy thing about being of it
- 21:00Speaker 2: to exist in California, right and in the industry. So
- 21:04Speaker 2: they we did that, and uh, it was gonna it
- 21:08Speaker 2: was gonna be crazy. It was a crazy beginning of
- 21:11Speaker 2: seeing both sides trying to come together and then came together.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Because this was around the time when Who's the Man
- 21:19Speaker 2: soundtrack was out and we was listening to some classic
- 21:22Speaker 2: hip hop you know, you know, Biggie was just being
- 21:25Speaker 2: born in the hip hop so while we was in
- 21:27Speaker 2: the mix of making this album, we want to be
- 21:31Speaker 2: on another different level of of our crek crek creation.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it was like it was like
- 21:39Speaker 1: a CD that like was everybody was trying to cop
- 21:43Speaker 1: like at least in Phoenix. I feel like everybody had
- 21:45Speaker 1: it in their CD book.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean I don't want to put too
- 21:48Speaker 2: much on it, you know, I think I said enough,
- 21:50Speaker 2: but you know, the Bloods and Crypts are very unique
- 21:54Speaker 2: in their own way, and they being MC's behind behind
- 21:57Speaker 2: the table. It's some, it's some. It's some guys us
- 22:00Speaker 2: who you know, want to speak on it, like how
- 22:03Speaker 2: Q did or maybe they felt he wasn't the one
- 22:07Speaker 2: to do so, but he was the only one who
- 22:11Speaker 2: could speak from a very intelligent way of how the
- 22:15Speaker 2: streets was, and others was able to do it too.
- 22:19Speaker 1: You know.
- 22:19Speaker 2: N w A did a phenomenal job of talking about
- 22:25Speaker 2: the things. What I happened to say, blood or crip.
- 22:27Speaker 2: You know, we just was talking about the struggle or
- 22:30Speaker 2: what it was to become a black man and the
- 22:33Speaker 2: things that was so crazy being in the community, you
- 22:37Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, And we wanted to wanted to
- 22:39Speaker 2: paint a better picture. So when you start seeing these
- 22:42Speaker 2: different artists coming from these walks of life, especially DJ Quick,
- 22:47Speaker 2: you know, who really made.
- 22:48Speaker 1: His his point felt loud as a blood.
- 22:54Speaker 2: It was just crazy how everybody in the mature aspects
- 22:58Speaker 2: start to happen, because uh, you know, people end up
- 23:02Speaker 2: moving in different neighborhoods and have to understand how can
- 23:07Speaker 2: we get along, you know, as as as as blacks,
- 23:10Speaker 2: and then the Mexicans was right there. They've been seeing
- 23:13Speaker 2: so much of it as well, you know, from low
- 23:15Speaker 2: riding to barbecues to concerts and supporting us on a
- 23:21Speaker 2: radio station. You know, I'm an original kJ mixed master,
- 23:24Speaker 2: so that yeah, yeah, I started way back. I really
- 23:29Speaker 2: wanted to get minds off because me, I I grew up,
- 23:33Speaker 2: you know, from a place where you know, we understood
- 23:36Speaker 2: uh jazz and hip hop and uh all the Puerto Ricans,
- 23:42Speaker 2: you know we're talking about Santana. Santana was one of
- 23:45Speaker 2: my favorites my mother raised me on, and so I
- 23:49Speaker 2: I really want to pay homage in all different ways
- 23:52Speaker 2: in the earlier days before I even met Corrupt, you know.
- 23:55Speaker 2: So you know, I can go anywhere when it comes
- 23:59Speaker 2: to land escaping the sonics of music that come out
- 24:02Speaker 2: of Los Angeles.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Can you guys take me to the day of the
- 24:05Speaker 1: Calias Active video shoot. I don't think people need to
- 24:09Speaker 1: go rewatch this video because the park was this a you.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Know what corrupt it was like you guys, I think
- 24:17Speaker 2: Snoopy got got the drop on that. And I'm sure
- 24:22Speaker 2: like you'll ever see a day like this where there's.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So much just legends from from the Bay to l
- 24:28Speaker 1: A and in between, all in the same time. It
- 24:32Speaker 1: was so many Yeah, I mean, I mean the spot
- 24:37Speaker 1: in the video.
- 24:38Speaker 5: I mean it's it's it's a it is comes out.
- 24:41Speaker 5: You feel, it's an all time come out.
- 24:45Speaker 2: God, were you guys surprised by like looking around like God,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you know, I was because I came a little late.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Alesion Park a Lesion part. I love that, so Leegion part.
- 24:58Speaker 2: It's not a part that every one goes to. So
- 25:01Speaker 2: I'm glad he found that place. So yeah, we had
- 25:05Speaker 2: to exist on another level, bringing all those different vibes
- 25:09Speaker 2: at one place, you feel me. I mean we had
- 25:11Speaker 2: Oakland up in there. You see how two shirts and
- 25:14Speaker 2: everyone came through there. It was just it was just
- 25:16Speaker 2: a phenomenal move about Callius actor. We didn't really want to.
- 25:21Speaker 2: We could have said, uh, one part of California, but
- 25:27Speaker 2: it's California all the way around from the Bay to La.
- 25:30Speaker 1: We didn't want to.
- 25:31Speaker 2: We didn't want to leave nothing out. So I'm glad
- 25:34Speaker 2: Snoopy thought about the visuals on another level to bring
- 25:37Speaker 2: it more. I didn't even understand how that was going
- 25:39Speaker 2: to happen, but he pulled that off.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Is that the Snoops putting in the costs?
- 25:44Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. I mean, I mean he
- 25:46Speaker 2: really was practicing his see his CEO movement though too though,
- 25:50Speaker 2: because he he he's a person that has a great,
- 25:54Speaker 2: great uh mind state of being a creator. I just
- 26:00Speaker 2: didn't understand how this thing was going to happen. But
- 26:03Speaker 2: when it happened, it makes sense, So I see why
- 26:06Speaker 2: he's so or looked at like, Okay, this is the
- 26:10Speaker 2: this is the man that got the courage to take
- 26:13Speaker 2: our coasts or another level.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Did you guys see the verses you get to see
- 26:20Speaker 1: any of this?
- 26:21Speaker 3: It wasn't beautiful.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It was one of the most entertaining verses of all time.
- 26:25Speaker 1: And I felt like it turned into like just like
- 26:28Speaker 1: a love fest, like everybody.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Was just it was like it was they had fun.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Man, they had fun.
- 26:34Speaker 4: That's the most important thing, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:38Speaker 4: The Bloods showed that they can't have a good time
- 26:41Speaker 4: and nobody get in no trouble, nobody get hurt.
- 26:44Speaker 3: And all the good things. But this was really really
- 26:46Speaker 3: big for the entire coast, you know.
- 26:49Speaker 4: What I'm saying. And they both represented so so well.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Game came with this level of of the West Coast
- 26:58Speaker 4: and then why g CA with this level, so they
- 27:01Speaker 4: both was on levels going up and up in each
- 27:04Speaker 4: other's gendres connected game.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It was made you remember, like, okay, game really was
- 27:10Speaker 1: like the face of l a for this pockeast, right
- 27:12Speaker 1: and then and then there was like the New l
- 27:14Speaker 1: A which was like g Malone ned but a little
- 27:18Speaker 1: bit after that is right, I.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Say, high unfolded. It was incredible. Another thing that was
- 27:24Speaker 2: very unique.
- 27:25Speaker 4: About them getting in, you know, they just they joined themselves.
- 27:35Speaker 1: On a run.
- 27:36Speaker 2: They set it off so cold. It was amazing almost
- 27:39Speaker 2: you know, had a low tear in my eyes just
- 27:41Speaker 2: seeing it because it was so many levels of faces.
- 27:44Speaker 1: You if you really know the game.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It was other other hoods there that was that was
- 27:48Speaker 2: bloods and it was a couple of crips there that
- 27:51Speaker 2: was on that stage that I liked and so that
- 27:54Speaker 2: you know, I saw it. It was so amazing that
- 27:57Speaker 2: they could level their respect and and communication with one
- 28:04Speaker 2: another to even have them there, you know, because back
- 28:08Speaker 2: in the days, man the color colds, the cold, the
- 28:13Speaker 2: whole culture. You know, we couldn't even stand each other
- 28:16Speaker 2: to do that. And it's sad because it's a black thing,
- 28:19Speaker 2: you know. And when you see that now you see
- 28:21Speaker 2: the level of them saying, you know what, we don't
- 28:26Speaker 2: want to let this exist like that. We want to
- 28:29Speaker 2: show different colors. So I love the Red Rags Uh
- 28:34Speaker 2: family and foundation for putting that together and seeing some
- 28:38Speaker 2: real players that that there you go, that's what I'm
- 28:41Speaker 2: talking about.
- 28:44Speaker 3: You see. It was like you said, it's two different errors.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Yeah, you know it's this era and this era, two
- 28:52Speaker 4: separate different eras.
- 28:54Speaker 5: They're kind of blend into each other. They like each
- 28:58Speaker 5: other because his Nipsey records and why.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Why you hit him with that last time that I checked?
- 29:05Speaker 3: You get about it.
- 29:06Speaker 4: You understand me game with his nipp See, it was
- 29:09Speaker 4: just all love. They got so much, uh that they
- 29:12Speaker 4: have in common different eras. You know, this one was
- 29:16Speaker 4: from this day and age, and then after him came
- 29:18Speaker 4: this day and age and shouts out to to Swizz
- 29:22Speaker 4: into Timberland.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And the people.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Uh versus versus for allowing you know, and giving the
- 29:30Speaker 4: West Coast, I.
- 29:32Speaker 5: Want to say, versus I don't know who he will
- 29:35Speaker 5: go against. They got to bring Quick into the arena
- 29:38Speaker 5: just so he could just show out.
- 29:40Speaker 3: You know, because people for he gonna show it is
- 29:44Speaker 3: so deep.
- 29:44Speaker 5: It's like it's crazy, like.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Who would it be? You know, because I damn near
- 29:51Speaker 1: think like I know, like Dres Dre, Like no one's
- 29:53Speaker 1: going to get dra. But I feel like it'd be
- 29:54Speaker 1: fun if it was like Dre and Quick, just because
- 29:56Speaker 1: I feel like they both both was vocal both got records,
- 30:00Speaker 1: they both got you know.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they both was vocalists in that, you know, and
- 30:05Speaker 2: I would love to see that too. See with me,
- 30:06Speaker 2: I gotta be with someone if I go, I've gotta
- 30:09Speaker 2: be someone who who only just did production. And don't
- 30:13Speaker 2: put me with somebody who's a MC and rap.
- 30:16Speaker 1: You know what, I'm right, right right, you know, make
- 30:18Speaker 1: make make it, make it match.
- 30:19Speaker 2: So I see what the family's doing, you know, Timbling
- 30:22Speaker 2: and Swiss, they doing it right, they making it, making
- 30:24Speaker 2: it mess because they've been calling my name up. But
- 30:27Speaker 2: it's got to make sense, man. Right now, I'm just
- 30:29Speaker 2: enjoying everyone else who's very unique and uh and can
- 30:33Speaker 2: really be a part of the new creation of that.
- 30:36Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. It's just super dope.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Shout out to our brothers, a hard Dean man Ots family.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Of course, they've been sponsoring the podcast for years now.
- 30:43Speaker 1: You've been seeing the mic flag for years now. Want
- 30:45Speaker 1: to give a shout out to our brothers. I just
- 30:47Speaker 1: was in Vegas. I had to pull up all right. Look,
- 30:49Speaker 1: it's the number one dispensary in the world. When I
- 30:52Speaker 1: tell you, walk in that thing and the but tenders
- 30:55Speaker 1: are great. They take care of you immediately. The selection
- 30:58Speaker 1: is great. So when you go to Vakes, you get
- 31:00Speaker 1: into that cab, you get into that uber immediately, say
- 31:02Speaker 1: take me to Hardeen. Don't know what they're doing, all right,
- 31:05Speaker 1: they gonna get you right, all right, the number one
- 31:06Speaker 1: premium cannabis dispensary in the world. They just got me right.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I was just in town for Raffi's birthday. Had to
- 31:13Speaker 1: pull up. Get right this nice little one to one
- 31:16Speaker 1: hardeing jersey. These are not available, all right? Shots to them, man,
- 31:20Speaker 1: all right, salute to the family. Follow him on Instagram.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Hardean Underscore Las Vegas. Sorry, let's get back to the podcast.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Speaking of the love corrupt, I wonder we've seen between you,
- 31:30Speaker 1: Dazz and Snoop thirty eight falling out over the last
- 31:34Speaker 1: twenty five years. Right, corrupt This family, Snoop and corrupt
- 31:39Speaker 1: Or Snoop and Dads are literally family. So when they have,
- 31:42Speaker 1: you know, a public spat', you're in the middle, no
- 31:45Speaker 1: matter what, right do you feel like, do you kind
- 31:49Speaker 1: of feel like they're gonna work it out, or do
- 31:50Speaker 1: you feel like you got to try to kind of
- 31:53Speaker 1: bring everybody to the table or you know, you know,
- 31:55Speaker 1: it's not the first of the last time.
- 31:57Speaker 4: I'm sure you know, it's not our first rodeo as
- 31:59Speaker 4: a whole. And I feel, just like you said, man,
- 32:02Speaker 4: they gonna get it together. You know what I'm saying,
- 32:04Speaker 4: because that's what family does. You know, we butt heads
- 32:07Speaker 4: and we need that time apart and then eventually, you know,
- 32:11Speaker 4: you uh be cause Snoop is the champ.
- 32:15Speaker 3: So you know what I'm saying.
- 32:16Speaker 4: You know, dogs say, hey, man, you know it's time
- 32:20Speaker 4: to come home. That's what he told me, and I
- 32:21Speaker 4: was like, cool, I'm ready, let's go.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And my mind was right. And same thing with him
- 32:27Speaker 3: and dads. You know, they both leaders, but Snoop is
- 32:29Speaker 3: the champ.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Dads know that, and so you know, but you know
- 32:33Speaker 4: he's still his own man.
- 32:35Speaker 3: They gonna work it.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Out because you know, that's that's what family does.
- 32:39Speaker 2: See, that's what the in between thing is. See when
- 32:42Speaker 2: people say he's in between, it's in between with knowledge
- 32:46Speaker 2: and information and understanding. For people, when they see the
- 32:49Speaker 2: ship going, they wondered what's happening. He never feels like
- 32:53Speaker 2: he's a wink link or a person who can't do
- 32:58Speaker 2: or do what he do. He He's just got an
- 33:00Speaker 2: incredible h level and relationship between the two. I really
- 33:05Speaker 2: admire his his his manhood and common sense and reality
- 33:11Speaker 2: to to to what he be seeing. It's dope for
- 33:14Speaker 2: for all of us, you know, for the coast, you know,
- 33:17Speaker 2: because it's white before our eyes. What y'are saying is
- 33:19Speaker 2: I never thought social media would be so so crazy
- 33:24Speaker 2: with seeing so many.
- 33:25Speaker 1: People expressed themselves because usually you couldn't do that. We
- 33:27Speaker 1: didn't have that.
- 33:28Speaker 2: You would just hear about it unless you was in
- 33:30Speaker 2: in in it's uh in a circle or some shit.
- 33:33Speaker 2: But the social media and ain't nothing nice. It could
- 33:36Speaker 2: it could pant some good and some bad.
- 33:39Speaker 1: How's your brother man? Because you know your brother got
- 33:41Speaker 1: smooth Sailing is a classic his by the way, his
- 33:44Speaker 1: verse on I called shots. Oh my goodness, yes you
- 33:49Speaker 1: want to talk about that's one of the most impressive
- 33:52Speaker 1: lyrical just performances out of the West Coast. That song
- 33:57Speaker 1: as a whole, and it was the first.
- 33:58Speaker 5: Song on streets.
- 34:00Speaker 1: But how's your brother doing that?
- 34:01Speaker 4: He's doing real good, you know, enjoying being a father,
- 34:05Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, more than ever, and also
- 34:08Speaker 4: getting ready for his new projects to be dropping. He's
- 34:11Speaker 4: got new projects, cracking solo, we got other projects.
- 34:15Speaker 3: With other people.
- 34:16Speaker 1: So I just remember when he just to California. I
- 34:19Speaker 1: was like, oh yeah, that you saw him and David
- 34:25Speaker 1: Banner perform at a halftime show at a and one
- 34:27Speaker 1: mixtape tour.
- 34:28Speaker 4: When that's right, I think back then, I had on
- 34:31Speaker 4: on site on the and one mixtape. Crazy was running
- 34:36Speaker 4: the circuit him and David Banner, and uh, you know
- 34:41Speaker 4: it's crazy because David Scotie. You know, I just put
- 34:46Speaker 4: him on four bars on Girls All Pauls when he
- 34:51Speaker 4: flew to the Moon, and that just goes to show
- 34:54Speaker 4: you it's not only a skill, but the people adapted
- 34:57Speaker 4: to him and loved him.
- 34:58Speaker 1: You know.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Yeah, he's working hard, he's doing his thing.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Battle Cat. I always wonder, man, when we think of
- 35:03Speaker 1: West Coast production, as much as West Coast has like
- 35:07Speaker 1: a spirit and a soul that's that connects sonically. I
- 35:12Speaker 1: feel like guys like Quick, guys like Warren G, guys
- 35:16Speaker 1: like Dre, they have their signature sounds where you kind
- 35:20Speaker 1: of know and I feel like your baselines are very distinct.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I feel like you have your own pocket of like
- 35:26Speaker 1: oh no, that's a battle Cat shit like for you,
- 35:28Speaker 1: when do you feel like you kind of you had
- 35:32Speaker 1: your sound was defined where you were like, okay, you
- 35:36Speaker 1: know what.
- 35:36Speaker 2: It still kind of reminds me of Quincy Jones because
- 35:39Speaker 2: that man touched all levels of what music was. And
- 35:43Speaker 2: if you listen how I do my R and B
- 35:47Speaker 2: with Raf Brian McKnight on Faith Evans, you can see
- 35:52Speaker 2: the level.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Of my creation. I don't want to just be a
- 35:55Speaker 1: one man.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Vibe of what what kind of music I do, and
- 36:01Speaker 2: so I think it was very uh respectful for me
- 36:06Speaker 2: to keep this thing we always had on the West
- 36:08Speaker 2: Coast in the eighties going into the nineties, and that
- 36:11Speaker 2: was to be your own man and sound like your
- 36:13Speaker 2: own self and be original, you know what I'm saying.
- 36:16Speaker 2: That's another thing that Corrupt loved about me because when
- 36:19Speaker 2: it came in the backyard to hear me, he I
- 36:22Speaker 2: didn't sound like no one else who who created the
- 36:24Speaker 2: music that that was being being produced, and it could
- 36:30Speaker 2: level up to his expectation of what he did. Because
- 36:34Speaker 2: if I couldn't handle him, then I wouldn't be I
- 36:36Speaker 2: wouldn't be wearing him at today.
- 36:38Speaker 1: So he is the man one of the main factors
- 36:43Speaker 1: of why Battlecat is so dope. You know what was
- 36:45Speaker 1: the y'all had a corrupt you had a joint. I
- 36:48Speaker 1: want to what was the soundtrack? Was it Players Club soundtrack? Yes?
- 36:52Speaker 2: Sure, yeah I remember.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Remember the name of that fucking song.
- 36:56Speaker 4: That's the first record we worked the Yeah, yeah, that's
- 36:59Speaker 4: under pressure. Yeah, it's under pressure. We made it was
- 37:04Speaker 4: it was a we can freak it so under pressure
- 37:07Speaker 4: they put on the Players when.
- 37:09Speaker 5: We had real soundtracks.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, man, something to uh. And that's kind
- 37:14Speaker 2: of like what Snoopy was looking at too. He wanted
- 37:16Speaker 2: us to start off with the EP, but the way
- 37:19Speaker 2: it was knocking things down, we went past that and
- 37:25Speaker 2: blung more greatness to the table, you know, because I
- 37:28Speaker 2: missed when we looked at a soundtrack and then you
- 37:31Speaker 2: had the music that with Taylor right behind that thing
- 37:35Speaker 2: and give you a notion of of of of happiness
- 37:40Speaker 2: and and and the vision of what the what the
- 37:43Speaker 2: movie the movie is about.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Well then you end up having the baby Boy song too.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, you see how that goes, which is
- 37:50Speaker 2: like you see how that went and now now you
- 37:53Speaker 2: now you're putting, you're putting your painting a picture. That's
- 37:55Speaker 2: what we're talking about. So I'll be glad when we
- 37:58Speaker 2: get back to making movies on the West Coast. You know,
- 38:03Speaker 2: we missed John Singleton Dealey, and I'm glad were we
- 38:07Speaker 2: gave him a record that was set it off. You
- 38:10Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Each of you guys have history with Nate Dogg. Obviously, Yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 1: Nate Dogg, Yeah, to me is the greatest hook guy ever.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's how Smokey Robinson. If you asked me,
- 38:23Speaker 2: he is the Smokey Robinson.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Of the game.
- 38:26Speaker 2: You know, if I had to put him next to greatness,
- 38:29Speaker 2: I would say him for me because well, you.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Know, he's the greatest.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Because no matter who's hot at the time, they'll be like, oh,
- 38:36Speaker 1: you're like the Nate dog right now.
- 38:37Speaker 5: Everybody's trying to get a hook for me.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying, Like not to say
- 38:40Speaker 1: anbody's name, but there's so many people who like they
- 38:42Speaker 1: go on a run and then everybody wants someone on
- 38:44Speaker 1: the hook and they always.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Will be like, oh, you're like Nate Dogg right now.
- 38:47Speaker 1: But Nate was the guy. Can you guys have any
- 38:51Speaker 1: can you guys share any stories about Nate because obviously
- 38:54Speaker 1: you guys. I mean you did the Chico on Cool
- 38:57Speaker 1: Water record, a very slept on random West Coast song.
- 39:02Speaker 1: But that song was all over the fucking radio.
- 39:05Speaker 2: High come down, Yes, come on, man, Eviden Champagne, we
- 39:09Speaker 2: did that. We make I put my own music to it,
- 39:11Speaker 2: cause at first I had her vibe. But I still
- 39:14Speaker 2: want to keep it alive because the way that Nate
- 39:16Speaker 2: Dogg was coming to it, you know, that's what the
- 39:19Speaker 2: foundation was. But when we found out we couldn't get
- 39:22Speaker 2: it clear, then I made another version and and then.
- 39:25Speaker 1: You hear his vocals over that.
- 39:26Speaker 2: It was amazing that we did the second version because
- 39:29Speaker 2: it pushed me to be another level of a of
- 39:33Speaker 2: a real producer.
- 39:34Speaker 5: What's his vibe in the studio is Nate?
- 39:36Speaker 2: Like?
- 39:37Speaker 1: Is it automatic? Does it take him a while to
- 39:38Speaker 1: lay some shit down?
- 39:39Speaker 5: What's that vibe like?
- 39:40Speaker 1: Working with Nate?
- 39:41Speaker 2: I mean, for me, it was automatic because at that
- 39:44Speaker 2: time he was already seasoned from being in the Church
- 39:47Speaker 2: game and then the Death Role movement and R and
- 39:51Speaker 2: B world.
- 39:52Speaker 1: He was a crooner.
- 39:53Speaker 2: You know, I gotta give it to him, you know,
- 39:55Speaker 2: like Teddy Penograd and that that man can make some
- 39:58Speaker 2: shit crack, you know, and I'm glad that he had
- 40:01Speaker 2: that foundation and coming up, you know with the two
- 40:04Speaker 2: one three and that whole movement, and it's it's phenomenal
- 40:08Speaker 2: for me to just look at it and see how
- 40:10Speaker 2: it goes. So but when he got in the studio, man,
- 40:12Speaker 2: he was just it was just a breath of fresh
- 40:15Speaker 2: fresh air. I seen him when I had my crib
- 40:17Speaker 2: in West Covina. I got a chance to see him
- 40:20Speaker 2: hands on, and uh, I'll just look at him sometime,
- 40:24Speaker 2: you know, and uh, give him his freedom. I always
- 40:28Speaker 2: respected that seeing Nate Dogg as a man, like where
- 40:31Speaker 2: is he at?
- 40:31Speaker 1: Where you want to be? What kind of drinks for?
- 40:34Speaker 1: Kind of walk?
- 40:34Speaker 6: You know?
- 40:35Speaker 2: What? You what you want to see?
- 40:36Speaker 6: You know?
- 40:37Speaker 2: And when I did that, and it's giving him a space, man,
- 40:39Speaker 2: you'd be surprised would come out of out out of
- 40:41Speaker 2: his dome. It's just amazing of the things he's been
- 40:44Speaker 2: able to see as a young man all the way
- 40:47Speaker 2: up to an artist.
- 40:47Speaker 1: So he definitely can paint a picture.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Corrupt.
- 40:52Speaker 1: You have some of the most memorable verses on Doggie Style,
- 40:55Speaker 1: which in my opinion, is the greatest rap album of
- 40:58Speaker 1: all time.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Depending on the day, it always switches between like Doggie
- 41:04Speaker 1: Style and Illmatic and get Richard I trying, but all.
- 41:07Speaker 5: Those for you man, Like, what was the spirit of
- 41:12Speaker 5: like those sessions?
- 41:12Speaker 1: Like, did y'all understand like, because obviously Snoop is coming
- 41:16Speaker 1: off the chronic everybody always is a highly anticipated project
- 41:22Speaker 1: y'all are working on.
- 41:23Speaker 5: Yeah, did y'all feel like, damn, we nailed.
- 41:26Speaker 1: We landed the plane on this motherfucker, like.
- 41:29Speaker 3: When we made it, during the time we made it.
- 41:33Speaker 4: That was right during the time off we started probably
- 41:36Speaker 4: in ninety four Doggy Style and then we had time
- 41:40Speaker 4: off where we would just get to work and then
- 41:42Speaker 4: but it was the case.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Came and then above the Rim.
- 41:47Speaker 4: By the time above the Rim, we was already songs
- 41:49Speaker 4: all in, so you know, we felt like we was there.
- 41:54Speaker 4: We went to Sugar with it and he was like, yeah,
- 41:56Speaker 4: this is this that against shit, Yeah, keep going, and
- 41:59Speaker 4: then he put us in the room so we could work,
- 42:02Speaker 4: gave us own studio to work out of, and when
- 42:05Speaker 4: we got finished, he was like, damn, this is cracking.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Next thing, you know, Doctor Dre's gonna mix it and
- 42:11Speaker 4: I said, oh, it's a rap.
- 42:13Speaker 3: It's a rap.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Dre's mixed over Dazz's beats and DJ Pooh.
- 42:19Speaker 5: Crazy God, what kind of sober.
- 42:22Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, I felt real confident.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Were you in around for any of the recording of
- 42:27Speaker 1: the skits, because that's some of the best skits ever
- 42:30Speaker 1: on that album.
- 42:31Speaker 5: There's the bathtub skit, there's the skit before murder was
- 42:34Speaker 5: the case.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Like, hey you Snoop Dogg.
- 42:36Speaker 5: Snoop Dogg, were you around for any of that shit?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Uh No, I was just wondering what that's like.
- 42:43Speaker 1: How does it take to nail the fuck it?
- 42:45Speaker 4: It's like twenty sacks, like you know, twenty sack pyramid
- 42:49Speaker 4: on the Chronic. You know all of those skits. You know,
- 42:54Speaker 4: I never really was around for those. You know, they
- 42:57Speaker 4: were doing them random, right, so you know I don't
- 43:01Speaker 4: be at the studio, and then they know when I
- 43:04Speaker 4: come back, there's a skip made.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I don't know if you notice. We added a poster
- 43:07Speaker 1: to the wall. If you look behind you, you're on
- 43:09Speaker 1: the set. Now. We got the dog food you get
- 43:13Speaker 1: the dog food og promo poster exactly.
- 43:16Speaker 3: I'm in there's Vince shout out the.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Trill for hooking me up with that post.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I went to a store in Phoenix and they had that,
- 43:22Speaker 1: and the guy gave it to me. I was like, look,
- 43:24Speaker 1: if you give this to me, I'll put it on
- 43:25Speaker 1: the podcast set.
- 43:26Speaker 4: He's in there now, right next to Scoff.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Do you ever revisit dog Food? Like maybe on a
- 43:34Speaker 1: Sunday just let me just kind of just jump in
- 43:36Speaker 1: a time machine because it is one of the greatest
- 43:38Speaker 1: albums to ever come out of the West Coast.
- 43:40Speaker 6: Man.
- 43:40Speaker 3: No, I really haven't.
- 43:42Speaker 4: I really excuse me, I really haven't been really visiting.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Uh my original music.
- 43:51Speaker 4: I really don't do that because I'm always trying to
- 43:53Speaker 4: come up with something new and ann and get.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Stuck in the past.
- 43:57Speaker 4: But every once in a while, you know, I'll listen
- 44:00Speaker 4: thento something and then they slide something. Then k They
- 44:02Speaker 4: always does it right, you know what I'm saying. Ship
- 44:06Speaker 4: Shade forty five always does it. They be throwing things
- 44:09Speaker 4: in and I just be like, oh, ship and take
- 44:13Speaker 4: me back. I don't even know how to react when
- 44:14Speaker 4: you start playing. I'd be like, oh shit, be looking
- 44:18Speaker 4: around like be happening like that. But I don't really
- 44:22Speaker 4: like soak on it because I'm always trying to come
- 44:24Speaker 4: up with something new. I don't want to get boom,
- 44:27Speaker 4: you know what I mean?
- 44:28Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, outside of the new album obviously, do
- 44:33Speaker 1: you consider Streets as a mother your best solo project?
- 44:37Speaker 3: Indubitably so fucking oh totally.
- 44:40Speaker 4: You know, Streets is a mother. I didn't even expect
- 44:43Speaker 4: that to be as big as it was.
- 44:45Speaker 1: No fucking skips man.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Yeah know, I mean for real, that one there, I
- 44:51Speaker 3: do go back to the Streets crazy.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I'm glad, Yeah, I go back on that record.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you had yours, Yeah, you had you had.
- 45:03Speaker 5: A chip on your shoulder on that motherfucker that that boat?
- 45:07Speaker 3: What's that called?
- 45:08Speaker 1: That?
- 45:08Speaker 3: Talk about that?
- 45:12Speaker 4: And that's twist right there because you go Cat on
- 45:15Speaker 4: the on the talk box. Cat took it to a
- 45:22Speaker 4: whole nother level.
- 45:23Speaker 6: Friend was like, yeah, man, yeah, I got battle Can
- 45:26Speaker 6: on my ship, bitch, And it's just like, you know,
- 45:29Speaker 6: all this camaraderie when you do everybody rapping on it
- 45:33Speaker 6: on the music dazz picked the.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Record crazy, when you do the top boxes it like
- 45:39Speaker 1: because you know, we always think about Rocher Troutman.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Of course my foundation, but you know my teacher is
- 45:46Speaker 2: Charlie Wilson. That's who taught me.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Who's on the new album.
- 45:49Speaker 2: By the way, Charlie Wilson, he's on whose album the.
- 45:52Speaker 1: New Corrupting Battle.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Funny because that is his nephew is the reason why Tulsa,
- 46:05Speaker 2: Oklahoma fam Bam who put his voice over there. So
- 46:08Speaker 2: when you hear that over special, that's what you hear.
- 46:11Speaker 2: The lineage of the family is continuing.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Also Uncle Charlie's family, the lineage We can freak.
- 46:19Speaker 2: It Andre Wilson written by Casey Wilson, the younger brother
- 46:25Speaker 2: crazy you feel me so. But to talk about that
- 46:29Speaker 2: talk box, you know, because my man Snoopy is definitely
- 46:34Speaker 2: a lover of Roger Trump and and did some great
- 46:37Speaker 2: things to DJ Pool and that was that was a
- 46:43Speaker 2: fine time of having a voice. That's one thing I
- 46:47Speaker 2: love about Roger. Roger to me was a center voice
- 46:50Speaker 2: like Martin Luther King or like just you know, you
- 46:56Speaker 2: got Herbie Hancock. He's another one that doesn't use it's
- 47:00Speaker 2: just fabric, like yeah, like he used a vocoder kind
- 47:04Speaker 2: of synthesizer to do his voice, but he's still speaking
- 47:07Speaker 2: his real voice through it. That's Herbie Hancock. But then
- 47:10Speaker 2: Rogers see Rogers taking it to another level because we
- 47:13Speaker 2: had other people who do it to you, Stevie wonder
- 47:16Speaker 2: you know the people who did tear me something good,
- 47:18Speaker 2: you'd be surprised who's all behind these crazy records? So,
- 47:22Speaker 2: but Roger took it to another level. And me, I'm
- 47:25Speaker 2: just keeping it alive.
- 47:27Speaker 1: That's why I love think his nephew is on the
- 47:29Speaker 1: Yay album Bully bringing it back. You know, yeah, you know.
- 47:34Speaker 2: So for me, you know, I got my blessings from
- 47:36Speaker 2: the Troupman family to continue doing them doing it, and
- 47:40Speaker 2: I did some great Me and him did some great
- 47:42Speaker 2: records with a Roger Trupman's family zapping them.
- 47:46Speaker 1: So you already know Arizona Man. The bluetleg Head podcast
- 47:49Speaker 1: brought to you by our partners at Raffie Law Group.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Now we love Raffi Law Group Man Arizona's premier personal
- 47:55Speaker 1: injury firm. What I love about Raffie is they're so dependable,
- 47:58Speaker 1: so trustworthy, and they get the job done. They've helped
- 48:00Speaker 1: over seventy thousand Arizonans. I know you see the billboards everywhere.
- 48:06Speaker 1: I know you can't avoid seeing a man Raffi's face everywhere.
- 48:09Speaker 1: But it's because he is the absolute best. Al Right,
- 48:11Speaker 1: He's helping my wife get through an accident situation, got
- 48:15Speaker 1: her paid. My mother in law, same situation. My best
- 48:18Speaker 1: friend's parents just use RAFFI and got a big payday.
- 48:22Speaker 1: So make sure if you get into an accident, if
- 48:24Speaker 1: you need help, all right. It could be an accident,
- 48:26Speaker 1: it could be a slipping fall, it could be any
- 48:28Speaker 1: personal injury situation. They're gonna take care of it, all right.
- 48:32Speaker 1: All you gotta do is call RAFFI. You know what
- 48:33Speaker 1: it is, man, Call Raffi six two three three eight
- 48:36Speaker 1: eight four three three three Raffi Law Group, the only
- 48:41Speaker 1: personal injury law firm that we will ever rock with,
- 48:43Speaker 1: right here on the Blue leg Head Podcast. So these days,
- 48:45Speaker 1: I feel like we don't really have albums that have
- 48:48Speaker 1: themes anymore connective tissue from song to song. In this
- 48:52Speaker 1: album that you guys it's out now, if you're hearing this,
- 48:56Speaker 1: it's out. Tales from My Hood is such a cohesive.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Every song goes into the next song, you know what
- 49:04Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, was was that something that you kind
- 49:08Speaker 1: of figured out after where you were like, oh, we
- 49:10Speaker 1: could these these kind of go together? Was that or
- 49:12Speaker 1: was that kind of like a cognitive effort to be like,
- 49:15Speaker 1: now we're going to connect these.
- 49:16Speaker 2: I think, I think you in the great place and
- 49:18Speaker 2: mentioned in all those things, because it was all of it.
- 49:20Speaker 2: It happened simultaneously. It happened from a uh singing Snoopy
- 49:27Speaker 2: have that that that incredible ear of the connection of
- 49:32Speaker 2: my music, and I always have had that with me,
- 49:35Speaker 2: even doing Domino album. And so when I heard my my, My,
- 49:42Speaker 2: my family on the West Coast.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Uh do it?
- 49:46Speaker 2: You know for so many years, you know dre Quick,
- 49:52Speaker 2: you know whoever m C eight, you know, King t
- 49:57Speaker 2: the foundation in the Tukie uh and then the homie
- 50:01Speaker 2: rest in Peace, Crazy Tunes who did a r p
- 50:04Speaker 2: uh from a not from a very unique way and
- 50:09Speaker 2: Jinks from you know, from the Lynch Mob. You know
- 50:13Speaker 2: get I would never do that.
- 50:15Speaker 1: You know.
- 50:15Speaker 2: I gotta bring my my, my upbringing of my my
- 50:19Speaker 2: family into this because they also play the role in
- 50:23Speaker 2: me understanding what production would be to the foundation of it,
- 50:29Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, the new the new generation
- 50:32Speaker 2: of it, you know. And they did a great job.
- 50:33Speaker 2: So I did the same. I was DJ Battlecat and
- 50:36Speaker 2: then I was battle Cat the producer. You know, you
- 50:39Speaker 2: got two different vibes of what what what my what
- 50:43Speaker 2: my contribution is on this album. So that's another reason
- 50:47Speaker 2: why I'm here with them. I'm gonna be We're gonna
- 50:49Speaker 2: tour together, you know when the time is white thanks
- 50:52Speaker 2: to Death Ruin and Uh and Snooping and you know,
- 50:56Speaker 2: it's gonna be super super dope.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Man.
- 50:58Speaker 2: It's a great album. So glad that we could get
- 51:01Speaker 2: the vibration and the energy. Everybody can be on something crazy,
- 51:04Speaker 2: but we just want to be very unique and not
- 51:08Speaker 2: with the same flow as someone.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Else's storytelling on the album sharp on this we wanted
- 51:14Speaker 1: to do ship.
- 51:15Speaker 2: I'm not even gonna lie and Uh, but did no
- 51:17Speaker 2: one make it hard for me? But I'm still I
- 51:21Speaker 2: was still open for the whatever that was gonna come
- 51:25Speaker 2: to make me better, and I got a lot of
- 51:28Speaker 2: that from from them. Both swooping and correct was phenomenon
- 51:32Speaker 2: and making sure that I came out swinging hard.
- 51:37Speaker 1: You also have an album I've been seeing getting promoted
- 51:40Speaker 1: with you rock Him and Master Killer from the Wu
- 51:44Speaker 1: Tang Clan. Sure, how does this this is came out?
- 51:49Speaker 5: It's kind of random.
- 51:51Speaker 1: But by the way, indeed I heard the rock Kim record.
- 51:53Speaker 5: The Rock Kim record is hard, But how does those
- 51:58Speaker 5: three worlds come together.
- 52:00Speaker 4: Actually it was from the rock Kim record when we
- 52:03Speaker 4: did uh b Ill. We did the video and then
- 52:08Speaker 4: approached rock Kim because I just from talking to rock
- 52:13Speaker 4: Kim found out how extensive he was in the production
- 52:16Speaker 4: side of things and DJ of course, so we came
- 52:21Speaker 4: to him and basically was like, you know, uh, what
- 52:24Speaker 4: do you think about producing me and Master Killer's project.
- 52:27Speaker 3: So it went from him producing it to now.
- 52:30Speaker 4: It's basically master Killer Corrupt, Rock Kim, the God, Gotti
- 52:37Speaker 4: and the Killer you understand me, and that's we Wu
- 52:41Speaker 4: Tang DPG, the God Body Project, you know what I'm saying,
- 52:45Speaker 4: produced by the God.
- 52:47Speaker 3: So you know it was.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Made all the music, you know what I'm saying. We're
- 52:52Speaker 4: already complete, We already shot all the videos to it.
- 52:55Speaker 4: He just shot a video to his solo record from
- 52:59Speaker 4: the project called Distance Different, you know what I mean.
- 53:03Speaker 3: So yep, he just did that one.
- 53:05Speaker 4: You know, we're getting ready to drop that in a
- 53:07Speaker 4: couple of months too, were getting ready to go for it.
- 53:09Speaker 1: So you and Master Killer had already kind of said, Yo,
- 53:11Speaker 1: we're gonna do something, Oh definitely, and then it just
- 53:13Speaker 1: so happened and we were like, hey, let's see if
- 53:15Speaker 1: you know, we get some beats from rock Kim and
- 53:16Speaker 1: it turns into no, we.
- 53:18Speaker 4: Want him produced the entire project. Yeah, and let's get
- 53:21Speaker 4: rock Kim to just produce the old thing. We want
- 53:24Speaker 4: you to get your production credit that you deserved, you know,
- 53:28Speaker 4: just you know, producing another act or artists producing them
- 53:35Speaker 4: and overseeing all the production, overseeing putting it together, to
- 53:38Speaker 4: do the full production, not just the beat on it.
- 53:41Speaker 4: You actually put it all together. You produced this project, right,
- 53:45Speaker 4: me and master Killer. So he came in and just
- 53:48Speaker 4: laced our chucks and then jumped on some records and
- 53:51Speaker 4: next thing, you know, you know, became all three of us,
- 53:55Speaker 4: you know, master Killer corruptly.
- 53:57Speaker 1: I had saw like this, a bunch of stories getting
- 53:59Speaker 1: posted that Like, you guys got Eminem and jay Z
- 54:03Speaker 1: on the album.
- 54:03Speaker 5: But I guess it's an interlude.
- 54:04Speaker 3: It's the interlude, yeah, a jay Z jiggle.
- 54:10Speaker 4: He was speaking on the R. Eminem was speaking on
- 54:13Speaker 4: the R. So Kim put them both together to go
- 54:18Speaker 4: into his album, his solo album, which is the difference.
- 54:22Speaker 4: So you know what I'm saying, He used them instead
- 54:25Speaker 4: of just you know, uh, just the album just coming in.
- 54:29Speaker 4: He said, you know what I got an idea. He said,
- 54:32Speaker 4: em gave it up for me. Jigger gave it up
- 54:34Speaker 4: for me. I'm gonna have this come into this record
- 54:36Speaker 4: right here, Like wow.
- 54:37Speaker 1: That's big now listen in two thousand and two, was
- 54:41Speaker 1: that when eminem show came out? I want to say,
- 54:43Speaker 1: that's two thousand and two probably then I wonder how
- 54:47Speaker 1: my name is until I Collapse comes out in shady
- 54:50Speaker 1: Emin then gives you love, he says Andre from malcast
- 54:54Speaker 1: Jada corrupt nasing then me.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Indeed, em is so humble, it's a humble man.
- 55:01Speaker 3: And he uh, yeah, he gave it up.
- 55:03Speaker 4: And I was like, wow, you know, it's just it
- 55:06Speaker 4: feels good when uh, somebody gives you your props, like.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he puts you in his top. I mean he
- 55:12Speaker 1: puts you above himself and it's crazy.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Yeah, So it's like, how do I repay that? You know,
- 55:17Speaker 4: some things are priceless. That was priceless, be crazy, yes, indeed,
- 55:21Speaker 4: especially from somebody's.
- 55:24Speaker 1: One of the best Nate dog hooks ever too. By
- 55:26Speaker 1: the way that it is like sink up.
- 55:30Speaker 5: Go down, cinematic.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Right right right, and that beat.
- 55:37Speaker 1: What's your guys favorite record? Each one of your guys,
- 55:39Speaker 1: it's a different answer maybe, But what's your favorite record
- 55:42Speaker 1: on the new album Mystic River? Okay, the first one, right,
- 55:48Speaker 1: the first one I'm saying, but that was that was
- 55:51Speaker 1: like the foundation of this.
- 55:53Speaker 4: Yeah, mister River was the key from there, you know,
- 55:56Speaker 4: that set the tone going back to where we set the.
- 55:59Speaker 3: Tone, and then from there we just started creating you know,
- 56:03Speaker 3: his music.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Like I said, crazy movie by the way, just that
- 56:05Speaker 1: movie in general on the side with Yeah, and you
- 56:09Speaker 1: know that's.
- 56:09Speaker 3: Why I got the title.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Mine's is a love letter mind Steak and Gunner. God, yeah,
- 56:20Speaker 2: let me hear him.
- 56:23Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't know we could.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I had to do that, man, because this man
- 56:30Speaker 2: when we first met, he was about love coming in
- 56:33Speaker 2: and it was crazy because I didn't see the girls
- 56:35Speaker 2: he was with just yet. I said, but why this
- 56:38Speaker 2: this dude is so so phenomenal with painting a picture
- 56:42Speaker 2: about his expression of love. Right, So we had that
- 56:45Speaker 2: vibe when we first met. So for so to get
- 56:49Speaker 2: this vibe from Snoopy about how the importance of him
- 56:54Speaker 2: showing that because she she's been the number one legally
- 56:58Speaker 2: is an incredible end of Well, she's not a back
- 57:01Speaker 2: seat this type of person. She's just got a very
- 57:04Speaker 2: unique way of expressing herself when she want this man
- 57:08Speaker 2: to win. So uh Snoopy was like, hey man, this
- 57:12Speaker 2: is the record that you don't have listen to what
- 57:14Speaker 2: Cat did for me. Now I got a record that
- 57:17Speaker 2: Cat wants to produce for you, and I want you to,
- 57:22Speaker 2: you know, paint the picture and get into another another
- 57:26Speaker 2: level or expressing yourself about someone that is dear to
- 57:29Speaker 2: you in the later days, I mean in the better
- 57:32Speaker 2: days of your life. Now you know what I'm saying,
- 57:34Speaker 2: because we know what we know. The bitches did they thing.
- 57:37Speaker 2: But this ain't this, ain't that, This ain't that vibe.
- 57:39Speaker 2: This is the one who's actually a queen to your
- 57:42Speaker 2: heart and this the song is super dope.
- 57:47Speaker 1: I saw you talking about your coma situation on Big Boy,
- 57:50Speaker 1: which I remember. I think I saw N eighty posted
- 57:53Speaker 1: when you were in the hospital. What is obviously, when
- 57:58Speaker 1: you come on the other side of something like that,
- 58:00Speaker 1: shakes you up, your buddy, probably changes a lot of
- 58:04Speaker 1: how you're looking at life and some of the decisions
- 58:06Speaker 1: you're doing, and what are the you know, three weeks
- 58:09Speaker 1: you're in a coma, something like that.
- 58:11Speaker 3: Three weeks. Yeah, when you.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Get on the other side of that, man, Like, I mean,
- 58:16Speaker 1: you gotta be thinking God every day that you're still
- 58:18Speaker 1: with us. But is there you know, do you change behavior?
- 58:22Speaker 1: Do you kind of have to switch up like how
- 58:24Speaker 1: you're taking your health like well you.
- 58:26Speaker 4: Told you Yeah, you definitely have to do that because
- 58:30Speaker 4: you gotta You gotta have a different diet, You have
- 58:34Speaker 4: to have a different way of thinking to move forward
- 58:37Speaker 4: to where you're supposed to go next, or you just
- 58:41Speaker 4: continue doing what you was doing that was not right
- 58:45Speaker 4: and put you in a position in the first place.
- 58:46Speaker 4: So you gotta change everything from your mind state. You
- 58:50Speaker 4: gotta change your diet, what you're eating, what you're drinking.
- 58:55Speaker 4: You gotta change how you live your life, you know,
- 58:58Speaker 4: the places you go with you're doing, how you're spending
- 59:01Speaker 4: your time. So you got to change all of that,
- 59:04Speaker 4: and uh, you gotta change your whole entire mindset.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Are you still able to drink alcohol? No, because I
- 59:12Speaker 1: know you like to drink, you know, I do. I know.
- 59:14Speaker 5: I ran into you at the Hooters.
- 59:16Speaker 4: Here and there money you know, it was it was
- 59:20Speaker 4: a choice do you want to live or you know,
- 59:23Speaker 4: risk it all? So you know, after so long of
- 59:27Speaker 4: not drinking and being in the hospital. Wasn't that difficult?
- 59:29Speaker 1: Wasn't that hard? You got over the hard part? Yeah?
- 59:32Speaker 4: Yeah, because the hard part is when I'm not in
- 59:34Speaker 4: the hospital and I got that wall up to keep
- 59:37Speaker 4: me from the temptation and all that. But when that's gone,
- 59:41Speaker 4: you know to stick to the program and the plan,
- 59:46Speaker 4: so you know, I'm taking it day by day.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Is that something where you you feel like you got
- 59:52Speaker 1: to maybe like go to a meeting or anything if
- 59:54Speaker 1: you are having that itch to want to pick up
- 59:57Speaker 1: a bottle again? No, No, you just have a support system.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Why great support system.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: And also rest, you know, eating and rest, you know,
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: because you you know, when you get some rest, your
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: body heels your body whoop.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Watch.
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: But you remember you also night night, so the time
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: goes by, you wake up and your mind is somewhere
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: totally different.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Also monitoring the phone, keeping the phone like.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Going to do not disturb important?
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: You know what, I'm very important because you know it's
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: just one conversation you can have that will make you
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: go backwards. So you monitor your phone, monitor the company
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: you keep, you love all your folks and all that.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: But you got this your you got to be into
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: you now and your family can't really be all of
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: that and then you gotta you know, can't just leave
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: them all out in the on the blank. But every
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: day it's just it's not healthy to to maintain this program.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Battle Cat, is there an artist you for whatever reason,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: it has just escaped you from working with that.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: You were just like, this is the guy I need
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: to get with?
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: This guy Like the fact that Battlecat and so and
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: so I haven't done a record together is crazy. Who
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: is that artist you still want to try to get with? Uh?
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Donnie has to Wagh.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: And Bob Marley for one, and UH Stevie Wonder because
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: the pictures that they was painting. UH is very, very
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: unique and phenomenal for me as a as a producer
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: as far as someone now and I would love to
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: get with Rod Kim. I would love to finish my
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: work with UH care Arts one and UH slick Rick
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: you know I did songs with him both too, Snoopy
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: UH on the West Coast. I would love to even
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: get my brother Mike Straw, you know, a dope EMC
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: who haven't got his chan shine yet. So if I
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: had to keep it like that, I would I would
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: say I would say that I mean I I love
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: all my other uh hitters from the from the West Coast,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: but it's time to bring out somebody new.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Have you ever done anything with Cube?
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I know you worked with Yeah, I can work with him.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: And I did something special with Corrupt and Cube, you know,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: and I did. I think it's Uh. He got two albums.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: One was what was the name of one of them?
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: What he did at part one or two?
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: One? Peace?
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Yeah, one piece? I think I think I think Peace.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: I think I did something on that Purple one, yeah,
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: or the first one could have been the first one.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: By the war disc was like the one where he
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: had corn on there. He had like the he had
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: some wild joint but it also had I think it
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: had you could do it on there.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Yeah, So I think it's the second one. So uh, yeah,
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I've been I've been with him and uh, I did
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: something with him with uh with the group uh, with
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: forty Too Short West Wes Moore and I want to
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: do some more. I want to funk with Ice Tea.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: That's somebody else I have that would be great. So
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: if he do something again like I went me and
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Corrupt went and support his album, I think it's dope.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: I think he can.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: He can use some more great ship that's coming from
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: the West coast. And uh, I'm gonna keep.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: It like that. Man.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Man, Well listen, the new album is out, Tales from
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: My Hood, fully produced by battle Cap Corrupts in his
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Bag on this in his bag.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Thank you very much, Thank you.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Eleven joints. Uh, let's the rb X is on the album. Yes, BJ,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: the Chicago BJ, Jane Hancocks snoops all over the album, right, Charlie, but.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Charlie R Kenoby, Yeah, Kenoby's on there. I even got
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: a black Toven's on there.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Black Toven.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: I even had my little homegirl Camille hit with some
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: of these these wizardry words, not even busting, just poetry
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: like you know, oh my god, showing the skills that's
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: beyond just rapping.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we missed that because big pimping was. I blown
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: her out out to be the female indeed essence of
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: poetry is and she did a phenomenal job.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: And then your The Master Killer Rock came out is
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: coming out in September.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: It's coming now, September October. Good question.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I don't know I got eighty because it may be
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: so ready to push the button, but giving us the
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: respect of me and Battlecat project with Dog.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: So you know, he's taking his time with it, but
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: he's so ready to hit the button. That's a good question.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I think of September. I want to say, I've been
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: seeing the September Day flood around. But all right, man,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: well listen, corrupt man. I'm glad you're here. Better, stay healthy. Please,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: we need you, man, thank you.

- 1:04:53Speaker 2: You got to hell.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean having a crazy year. Man. There's
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: a lot of dope music coming out this year.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Great year, right and taking next year.
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: I'm be coming. I got some things coming next year.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: You know, I got things setting me up for like

- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Do you have any other stuff coming in the other
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: production coming throughout the year.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I got another one with him that
