Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to ReWild by Design, podcast for women in midlife who are ready to burn the rule book, drop the good girl mask, and come home to who they really are.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I'm your host Marissa, a human design and gene keys mentor, and your guide in this wild woman era.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Get ready for bold conversations, raw truths, and the kind of insights that'll shake you awake.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Because midlife isn't the end of your story, it's the point where you finally get to write it your way.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to the show.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad you're here with me again today.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: So I want to talk about something.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Like when you first find your human design chart and you pull it up, and let's say your chart tells you you are a projector.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: And immediately you kind of read the keynotes and it explains maybe the past 10 years of your life in one sentence.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: And you're like, oh, this feels so good.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: This feels so validating.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: But then you keep reading.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: You're like, wait for recognition and the invitation.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Your synchral center is undefined, so you don't have consistent access to life force energy.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Like your signature is success, and your not self-theme is bitterness.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Like, what the fuck does that mean?
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: And somewhere in there, you probably thought, okay, cool.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: This is maybe like some helpful information, but I still have a job.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I have a business or a business.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: I have kids, a mortgage, and ideas that I am like dying to bring out into the world.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: What am I supposed to do with this information?
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: And now, a lot of projectors I have spoken to and that have been in my world, they end up in like one of two extremes.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Some of them take this information and change absolutely nothing.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And there's no judgment here.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Like, but human design just becomes another fun fact about themselves.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, an icebreaker, like, oh, I'm a 2-4 projector.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Like, but is it really helpful?
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: But then there are others who take it so literally, and then they start questioning like if they're really meant to do anything without this formal invitation.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: And that's what I want to get into today.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: And this like middle ground, what living as a projector looks like in real life and not on an Instagram graphic.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: And believe me, I love a good Canva graphic.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Now I remember when I first pulled up my human design chart, and this was we're talking about eight years ago, and I was in a um like a crunchy mom's Facebook group, and I am a lurker, not a um participator.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: I like to just kind of like scan and kind of look from the outside.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And I saw someone posted about human design and then a link to get your chart, and they were talking about how like validating it felt.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, cool.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: I'll click the link, got my chart, put in my birth information, and I immediately felt really disempowered.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Now, this was the older original chart software and with the original language.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but for me, at that phase of my life, it did not feel empowering and liberating.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Instead, it made me feel smaller and made me feel like, oh gosh, like, am I am I doing life wrong?
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Like, did I choose the wrong meat suit here?
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: And it wasn't until I gave it another chance.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Like I put that on the shelf for a while, but then it came back into my field and I couldn't ignore it anymore.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: And then I found other human design practitioners who used more elevated language and more empowering language to describe the same mechanics.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And that's when that light bulb went off in my head.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: And the first thing I want to talk about is waiting for the invitation.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Because waiting for an invitation and waiting for your life to start are two very different things.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Now, the biggest misunderstanding is that an invitation carries this like the most weight.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Um, in let me rephrase that.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: The invitation is for when you are interacting with other people.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: So when you are in other people's auras, we need an invitation to be in someone else's aura.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: We need consent.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: You know, these are major work opportunities, like collaborations, relationships, places where you're offering your guidance and it needs to be received, right?
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: You can't just go give unsolicited advice.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Think about like when someone gives you unsolicited advice.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: How do you feel?
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Right now, everything else does not require a formal invitation from someone else.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Yes, so you can start the podcast that has been on your heart for a decade.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Hello.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: You can write the book, you can share your opinion on your socials.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: That's your space, you know, and you can continue to learn about the things that you are absolutely obsessed with.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Um, making the art, taking that solo trip, or just asking somebody to go get coffee, right?
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: You don't need to wait to go hang out with a friend.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Nobody has to hand you a permission slip to just exist in your own life.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Now, an invitation and recognition, even though they go hand in hand, they're two different things.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: Someone can absolutely invite you into something without seeing you at all.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: So maybe they want your labor and have zero interest in your perspective, or maybe they just need a warm body in that role.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: I used to live in the staffing world, and sometimes we had clients who literally just needed to fill a seat and they really didn't care who was in that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Or maybe, you know, someone asks for your advice and but they never listen to a word of it.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: That happens a lot.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Or maybe the invitation feels lovely, but that is for a version of you that you outgrew years ago.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: So I'd like to invite you to swap the question.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: So instead of was I invited, ask, Am I being recognized here?
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: And that will tell you a lot about if that is a correct invitation for you.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Now, in the past, old versions of me would have accepted any job offer, right?
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: When I was working corporate and working in staffing, I was in a place of such low self-worth that any invitation felt really good.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: And that's like that thirsty projector energy and like the lack of discernment.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: And that's one of the biggest things that I think is a life lesson for projectors as a type in human design is discernment.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: So when we're talking about recognition, let's get into like what happens when you just want it so badly.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: It is that thirsty projector energy.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: And I say this with so much love because I have been there.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Like I have absolutely been in that thirsty energy.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: And sometimes I still get into that checking how many likes I have on something, checking how many followers is this post going to land instead of trusting my own inner guidance, right?
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it also shows up as over-explaining.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Again, handing out advice nobody really asked for just because you know the answer.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: And because, you know, you feel like if you interject your opinion here, they'll finally see you.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Now it ends up causing us to be in our not-self behavior, which is that bitterness.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: And bitterness can feel different for every projector.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Sometimes it feels like resentment, sometimes it feels like this.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: I just I'm not being seen energy.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: And I will tell you, when we are in our bitterness, we are the least magnetic possible.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: Um with recognition, and you might have heard this out in the human design world, especially for projectors, self-recognition comes first.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Because if you haven't recognized your own gifts, your own wisdom, your own depth, you just hand that job to someone else, and that's where that thirsty energy comes from, right?
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Someone's someone else's recognition feels so much bigger when you're waiting on it to tell you who you are.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Now, but when you already know what you bring, you can instantly tell the difference between someone who truly sees you and someone who's just being polite, right?
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: There's a few questions, you know, to sit with this week, and I'll have some more at the end as well.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: But can you name what you're good at without waiting for somebody else to confirm it?
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Do you know where your guidance is received well?
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Where do you find yourself constantly auditioning to be selected?
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: And then when someone does see you eventually, can you tell the difference?
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: And sit with those this week, just marinate on them and don't judge yourself for the answers that come up because there are no wrong answers.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: It is wherever you're at in this season of life and in your human design experiment.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Now, also, I want to push back on some of the human design content, specifically for projectors, that I see out there.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Like it is, there's nothing wrong with it, but I feel like it's a little too broad of an umbrella to fit every single projector because projectors, we are the most differentiated type.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Yes, generators have a subtype of manifesting generators.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: In their core, they're all sacral beings.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: But projectors, we actually have several different types.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: We have emotional projectors, we have splenic projectors, we have ego projectors or heart-centered projectors, self-projected projectors, and mental projectors.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: That's five different types.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: That energy is very different depending on what your mechanics and your chart configuration are.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Now, before we get into all of that, I just want to kind of debunk this projectors aren't here to work um ethos that's out there, because it's not very helpful if you are currently working a 40-hour a week job to pay the bills, or if you have kids, a household to run, a business, or hell, all four.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And it kind of gets twisted when we say, like, oh, projectors, you know, you get tired.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: And I don't think that's really accurate because projectors can be the most ambitious, driven, and 100% capable beings out there when we are building something that is in alignment for us.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: If we've entered into that correctly, and it's something that we're deeply curious about, a system that we've mastered.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Having an undefined sacral just means that you're not here to run your life like a generator or a manifesting generator.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: No, we don't have consistent renewable sacral energy, the same way generators have it.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: You can borrow it from the people around you, from the transits if it's connecting one of your hanging gates.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Um, but it's not something you have to cling to.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Because, you know, the not-self of that undefined sacral is not knowing when enough is enough.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: And that's what gets us in trouble, is like we continue to work past exhaustion, even though we know we're tired.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: It ends up being like tired but wired, right?
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: And uh, I just want to like remind you that you don't have to outwork anybody else in the room.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Projectors were here to find more efficient ways of harnessing that sacral energy, of that doing energy, of doing it differently, of showing others what it looks like to be more efficient.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And there's nothing right or wrong, good or bad here.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: It's literally just mechanics.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Your job is to learn what it looks like to be more sustainable, to know when you've had enough, to stop and rest, because rest is not a kind of a nice to have for undefined sacral beings.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: Rest is part of the process.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: So finding a way to build in, even if it is, because you know, your overcapacity with your energy and time, building in small pockets of this time to put your legs up the wall for five minutes when you get home at the end of the day, or starting your day with a meditation and a practice, whatever works for you.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: Your job is to know what that looks like for you, and then stop assuming that you should just have this unlimited battery power because technically you can keep going.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: If you do that, it will end up in burnout.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: And I have been there several times.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Before I knew about the projector energy, before human design, I was running and operating my life just like a generator.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: I was raised by generators.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: I have been surrounded.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: You know, we're all projectors were only 20% of the population.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: So it's just statistics, it's just math, that we will be surrounded and swimming in sacral energy.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: And I never learned that, okay, well, I can continue to work.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: I can outwork anybody in this room, but it was costing me my health, causing inflammation in my body, going down this so exhausted I couldn't get out of bed.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: My cortisol levels were through the roof.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: I have a defined root center.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: So that is our center for cortisol and adrenal pressure.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: I was literally using that adrenalized pressure to go past this like tiredness.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: And as we're talking about the projector energy, and I mentioned, you know, the not self is bitterness.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Now, our signature is success.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: And sometimes success gets misunderstood, you know, because it's easy to hear it like as a report card.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: I got a hundred, right?
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: I got an A.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: But that is not what success really is.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: We are energetically designed for success, and it's going to feel different depending on your specific projector mechanics.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: You know, I had posted something um on my socials that success is not an achievement, it's a feeling.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Let that land for a minute.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: Success is not an achievement, it's a feeling.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: Now, on the opposite end of that, you know, bitterness is just a signpost to show us where we're a little off course.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: And bitterness does not do us any good to turn it inward on ourselves.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: That's not helpful.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: It's literally just a little like little sign from our soul self of, hey, girl, get back on your path.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: You have either not waited for recognition and an invitation, you're not in the right room.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: It's something is just telling you, it's your spidey senses, something's off, right?
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Just treat this as information.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Where in your life do you leave a conversation feeling genuinely seen?
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: Again, there's that key.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: Feeling.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Like, where does your perspective actually get taken in?
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: Like, where does your contribution feel so valued?
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: And like you will feel this in your heart, you will feel this in your body.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: It's not just a knowing thing, it's a sensing thing.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: And on the other side, like, where in your life are you constantly irritated or feeling overlooked or thinking, oh shit, why am I even bothering to do this?
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: Now, the pattern of bitterness can show up consistently.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: And that actually, the bitterness is a sign, an energetic sign for the other types to leave us alone.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: So if you're looking for recognition and invitations and you're operating from that bitterness, you're not gonna get them.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: And it's gonna end up fueling this cycle of continual bitterness.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: Now, again, I think I will preach this till I'm blue in the face.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: Success is a feeling, not an achievement.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: And another thing that took me a little while to appreciate, um, as I mentioned, is there's no single projector experience because we are so differentiated, because there are five different expressions of projector energy.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: So a splenetic projector is going to move through her life very differently than an emotional projector.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: A two-four projector is going to show up in her life and feel her life very differently from a three-five projector.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Our defined centers and our undefined centers show up differently.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: So the conditioning is going to show up differently.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Now, the gifts are different too, right?
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: What we're here to share and express are different based on our chart mechanics.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: All of our authorities are different.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: And that's why so many of us we we just process information differently.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: So, no, there is no one size fits all generic projector advice.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: And I think that's a beautiful thing because we're here to show the other what it's like to work, live, play, and just be more efficient.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: So I think it's really cool that there is no one single projector type or subtype out there because as a projector, I'm not here to be everything to everyone.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: I am here to have a very specific view and help very specific people.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: As if you're a projector as well, you are here to help a certain group of people.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: That's your fractal, right?
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: And this is where like my obsession with the projector energy really got like deep because.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Because you can put ten projectors in a room and get ten completely different perspectives and different designs that happen to share projector mechanics.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: So, yes, knowing your type as a projector as a whole is an excellent start.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: And that, if that is the only spot that you're at with human design, beautiful.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: But I will say it only covers a part of what you are experiencing in your life.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: And that is a huge reason why I created depth.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: This is a program just for projectors.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: And I spent a lot of time like getting these little like intuitive downloads of what would it be like to be surrounded in a room with other projectors, just projectors.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: I have been in so many juicy, beneficial coaching spaces for myself that were run by amazing generators and manifesting generators.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Hell, my business coach is an MG.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: But it's different mechanics, and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: And I said to myself, you know what?
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: What if I created a room that was just for projectors to finally be seen and recognized instead of being the one who is always seeing and recognizing the other?
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: And, you know, it's going so much deeper than just, okay, this center is defined, this center is undefined, this is waiting for an invitation.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: I wanted to get into the nuances of the projector mechanics, the differentiation, and what being a projector actually looks like in your real life, your work, your business, your relationships, and your creativity.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: So depth is an projector-only, intimate immersion that's starting October 27th.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: And I am intentionally keeping it, I'm curating it to be an intimate experience.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: So no more than 10 projectors in the room because I want you to be seen.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: We have such a gift for seeing the others.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: It's time for you to be seen and recognized.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: So if you've been listening and thinking, okay, yep, I know I'm a projector and I'm ready to go deeper.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: I'll link everything in the show notes in the description.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: And if you're just getting started and you're like, I just found out that I'm a projector and you're not quite ready for the depth of that space, go ahead and grab your energy snapshot audio.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: This will be a good high-level start to understanding the projector mechanics.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: So I just want to leave you with a few questions.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Now we had a few earlier, but just kind of to wrap us up here.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Um, this is not a list of rules.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Get a journal out.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: You can come back to this if you're driving, um, come back to it and jot these down.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: So, number one, where am I currently being recognized?
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: And two, where am I still trying to prove myself?
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: Three, where um, which invitations feel different from others?
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: Again, that gets into the discernment.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: For where am I experiencing unlimited capacity from myself?
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: So that's different.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: So that's we're gonna turn it inwards.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: Like, where do you have capacity?
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: Um where does bitterness keep showing up in my life?
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: And again, this isn't a judgment, this is just a noticing.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: And then lastly, where do I already feel this sense of success?
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: All right, that's it for me today, and I will see you in the next episode.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: Well, that's it for this episode of Rewild My Design.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: I trust that you got what you needed here today, and just remember you don't need another checklist.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: You need your own voice back.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: So go out, live a little louder, a little freer, and a hell of a lot more like yourself.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: And I'll see you next time.
