- 1:07Speaker 2: that He has a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now,

- 1:15Speaker 2: this program anytime online at talknetworkradio.com. Well now, here's Richard
- 1:21Speaker 2: with today's reflection.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Jesus thought it not robbery to God be equality Left
- 1:42Speaker 3: heaven's shore and took the form of a mere human man.
- 1:51Speaker 3: He then took our place on Calvary for our disgrace
- 1:58Speaker 3: and penalty. What love was shown to leave his throne? Redemption,
- 2:07Speaker 3: His plan. He said, Father, forgive them, for they know
- 2:15Speaker 3: not what they do. They have not, because they ask not.
- 2:23Speaker 3: They are not who they should be. So send them
- 2:29Speaker 3: another Comforter, The Spirit of the Holy God to teach
- 2:38Speaker 3: them and guide them and lead them to you. Jesus
- 2:57Speaker 3: counted it for glory, the great gospel story. That holy
- 3:06Speaker 3: God and sinful man are reconciled in him. Now down
- 3:15Speaker 3: through all the ages, we're the living gospel pages. The
- 3:23Speaker 3: lives he's changed. and rearranged and started again. He prays, Father,
- 3:34Speaker 3: live in them for they know now what to do.
- 3:41Speaker 4: They ask now for others and they are now.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Who they should be. So fill them with the comforters
- 3:55Speaker 3: the Spirit of the Holy God to teach them and
- 4:02Speaker 3: use them to bring others to you. Be praised, Father,
- 4:12Speaker 3: live in them, for they know now what to do.
- 4:19Speaker 4: They ask now for others And they are now.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Who they should be. So fill them with the comforter.
- 4:33Speaker 3: The Spirit of the Holy God. To teach them and
- 4:40Speaker 3: use them. To bring others to you. To teach them.
- 4:49Speaker 3: And use them to bring others to you.
- 4:58Speaker 5: That was an interesting musical message. It has demonstrated somewhat
- 5:07Speaker 5: what we have been discussing in regards to the comforter,
- 5:12Speaker 5: the filling of the Holy Spirit. The reason that I
- 5:18Speaker 5: played that was several years ago, the Lord gave me
- 5:23Speaker 5: that song, and I had written it so that it
- 5:28Speaker 5: could convey to believers what it is that He is
- 5:33Speaker 5: doing when He fills us with the Holy Spirit. You know,
- 5:39Speaker 5: I have found that in many cases, we are in
- 5:44Speaker 5: some ways constantly made aware of how the Holy Spirit
- 5:50Speaker 5: uses us and surprises us in the manner in which
- 5:56Speaker 5: he chooses to use us. But I do want you
- 6:00Speaker 5: to return to the Scripture. We're in John's chapter 16,
- 6:07Speaker 5: and Jesus is stating, after he has proclaimed many of
- 6:14Speaker 5: the things that are going to take place, how he's
- 6:18Speaker 5: going to lead them, and yet he's going to come
- 6:21Speaker 5: to them. That because it is better for him to lead,
- 6:26Speaker 5: so that he in turn can come to them. The
- 6:31Speaker 5: interesting part of this particular passage is that now he
- 6:37Speaker 5: is praying for his followers as he is preparing to lead.
- 6:46Speaker 5: And one of the things that he says to them
- 6:49Speaker 5: in the 16th chapter, he says, your hearts will rejoice
- 6:55Speaker 5: and no one will rob you of your joy. In
- 7:00Speaker 5: that day, you will not ask me anything. I assure you,
- 7:06Speaker 5: anything you ask the Father in my name, he will
- 7:10Speaker 5: give you. Until now, you have asked for nothing in
- 7:15Speaker 5: my name. Ask and you will receive that your joy
- 7:20Speaker 5: may be complete. Following that scripture, he has then referenced
- 7:28Speaker 5: more of what he meant by going to the Father
- 7:32Speaker 5: and how in that day they will ask in his name.
- 7:37Speaker 5: They will no longer request the Father by himself. So
- 7:43Speaker 5: he knows that that this is a time preparing them
- 7:49Speaker 5: for what is coming. And he states to them in
- 7:53Speaker 5: the 31st verse, Jesus responded to them, Do you now believe? Look,
- 8:01Speaker 5: an hour is coming and has come when each of
- 8:05Speaker 5: you will be scattered to his own home, and you
- 8:09Speaker 5: will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because
- 8:12Speaker 5: the Father is with me. I have told you these
- 8:16Speaker 5: things so that in me you may have peace. You
- 8:19Speaker 5: will have suffering in this world. Be courageous. I have
- 8:25Speaker 5: conquered the world. And now Jesus goes into a prayer.
- 8:31Speaker 5: He is praying now to the Father for himself and
- 8:39Speaker 5: for us. This is the prayer. Father, The hour has come.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Glorify your Son, so that the Son may be glorified
- 8:51Speaker 5: in you. For you gave him authority over all flesh,
- 8:56Speaker 5: so he may give eternal life to all you have
- 8:59Speaker 5: given him. This is eternal life, that they may know you,
- 9:05Speaker 5: the only true God, and the one you have sent,
- 9:09Speaker 5: Jesus Christ. I have glorified you on the earth. by
- 9:13Speaker 5: completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father,
- 9:18Speaker 5: glorify me in your presence with that glory I had
- 9:22Speaker 5: with you before the world existed. I have revealed your
- 9:26Speaker 5: name to the men you gave me from the world.
- 9:30Speaker 5: They were yours, you gave them to me, and they
- 9:34Speaker 5: have kept your word. Now they know that all things
- 9:38Speaker 5: you have given to me are from you. Because the
- 9:41Speaker 5: words that you gave me, I have given them. They
- 9:45Speaker 5: have received them and have known for certain that I
- 9:50Speaker 5: came from you. They have believed that you sent me.
- 9:54Speaker 5: I pray for them. I am not praying for the world,
- 9:58Speaker 5: but for those you have given me. me, because they
- 10:02Speaker 5: are yours. All my things are yours, and yours are mine,
- 10:07Speaker 5: and I have been glorified in them. I am no
- 10:11Speaker 5: longer in the world, but they are in the world,
- 10:14Speaker 5: and I am coming to you, Holy Father. Protect them
- 10:19Speaker 5: by your name that you have given me, so that
- 10:23Speaker 5: they may be one as we are one. While I
- 10:28Speaker 5: was with them, I was protecting them by your name
- 10:32Speaker 5: that you have given me. I guarded them, and not
- 10:37Speaker 5: one of them is lost except the son of destruction,
- 10:41Speaker 5: so that the scripture may be fulfilled. Now I am
- 10:46Speaker 5: coming to you, And I speak these things in the
- 10:50Speaker 5: world so that they may have my joy completed in them.
- 10:55Speaker 5: I have given them your word. The world hated them
- 10:59Speaker 5: because they are not of the world, as I am
- 11:02Speaker 5: not of the world. I am not praying that you
- 11:07Speaker 5: take them out of the world, but that you protect
- 11:11Speaker 5: them from the evil one. They are not of the
- 11:14Speaker 5: world as I am not of the world. Sanctify them
- 11:19Speaker 5: by the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent
- 11:23Speaker 5: me into the world, I also have sent them into
- 11:27Speaker 5: the world. I sanctify myself for them, so they also
- 11:32Speaker 5: may be sanctified by the truth. I pray not only
- 11:37Speaker 5: for these, but also for those who believe in me
- 11:41Speaker 5: through their message. May they all be one. as you, Father,
- 11:46Speaker 5: are in me, and I am in you. May they
- 11:50Speaker 5: also be one in us, so the world may believe
- 11:54Speaker 5: you sent me. I have given them the glory you
- 11:57Speaker 5: have given me. May they be one as we are one.
- 12:02Speaker 5: I am in them, and you are in me. May
- 12:07Speaker 5: they be made completely one, so the world may know
- 12:12Speaker 5: you have sent me. and have loved them as you
- 12:17Speaker 5: have loved me. Father, I desire those you have given
- 12:22Speaker 5: me to be with me where I am. Then they
- 12:26Speaker 5: will see my glory, which you have given me, because
- 12:30Speaker 5: you loved me before the world's foundation. Righteous Father, the
- 12:35Speaker 5: world has not known you. However, I have known you,
- 12:40Speaker 5: and these have known that you sent me. I made
- 12:44Speaker 5: your name known to them and will make it known
- 12:47Speaker 5: so the love you have loved me with may be
- 12:51Speaker 5: in them and I may be in them. And that
- 12:56Speaker 5: is the end of his prayer. What a lengthy and
- 13:02Speaker 5: so loving was that prayer. It began with the first
- 13:08Speaker 5: verse of chapter 17 and it closed with the 26th
- 13:15Speaker 5: verse of the same chapter. I want to call our
- 13:20Speaker 5: attention to a few things that are mentioned in this prayer.
- 13:25Speaker 5: And I also want us to understand that Jesus is
- 13:31Speaker 5: praying this prayer both for the disciples who were there
- 13:38Speaker 5: learning to follow him, who had denied him, and who
- 13:43Speaker 5: would still deny him even when he was taken from them.
- 13:50Speaker 5: But later, when he comes to them again, he then
- 13:55Speaker 5: demonstrates how he and the Father are one. And then
- 14:01Speaker 5: he asks the Father to make them one in the
- 14:07Speaker 5: same way. Now, Jesus and the Father are one. The
- 14:14Speaker 5: Holy Spirit is one with them. They are all one,
- 14:22Speaker 5: and they want us to be one in the same way.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Can we understand that Jesus is actually praying that we
- 14:35Speaker 5: become with each other in the same way that He
- 14:41Speaker 5: is one with the Father, and He gives us the
- 14:47Speaker 5: Holy Spirit so that this can be accomplished.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up,
- 14:56Speaker 2: but if you just joined us, you've been listening to

- 15:22Speaker 2: by Holman Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee. Additional resources used
- 15:27Speaker 2: for reflections on the word with Richard Kay include Great
- 15:31Speaker 2: is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread and printed by
- 15:34Speaker 2: Discovery House Publishers. Again, Here is Richard to wrap up
- 15:38Speaker 2: today's message.
- 15:42Speaker 5: Earlier, you heard the song entitled Redemption, His Plan. And
- 15:49Speaker 5: it says that Jesus thought it not robbery to be
- 15:53Speaker 5: equal with God, but he took the form of a
- 15:58Speaker 5: mere human man so that God's plan could be fulfilled.
- 16:04Speaker 5: And because of this, He prays for us. And what
- 16:09Speaker 5: he prays was very simple. He prayed that we will
- 16:16Speaker 5: be one. So he says, continue filling us with the
- 16:22Speaker 5: Spirit so that we can be used of him to
- 16:26Speaker 5: bring others to the Father. That song typifies this prayer.
- 16:34Speaker 5: He wants us to recognize who we are and who
- 16:39Speaker 5: He is in us. Believer, God's redemption rests in your
- 16:48Speaker 5: willingness to be one with Him. As He is one
- 16:55Speaker 5: with the Father, we are one in Him. And that
- 17:01Speaker 5: is today's reflection on the Word.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard.
