- 0:00Back on the Yukon Football Coaches Show. Coming up a little bit later on,
- 0:04we'll talk to Isaiah Davis, a guy who's been seeing some action in
- 0:07the secondary for the Huskies. Lou Hanson the tight end as well. Back
- 0:10with Jim mora coach. Let's talk about quickly Isaiah Davis. He's getting a
- 0:15shot lately. I noticed he'd been in there in a lot of different plays.
- 0:18He was talking about the cornerback position, how much he loves it,
- 0:22and he just looks excited to have a chance to show you something here down
- 0:26the stretch. He is, first of all, he's a great young man,
- 0:31and he loves to compete, and he's tough as nails and he's becoming
- 0:37a very good football player for us, and I'm really excited to see him
- 0:41continue to progress. He's just got He's got that passion and that intensity and
- 0:49that joy for the game and that athletic arrogance that you love to see in
- 0:54a corner And you know, the more we can get him on the field,
- 0:59you know, the faster he's going to progress. And so we've been
- 1:02working hard to get him on the field. Yeah, he's long, he's
- 1:08fast, he's big, he's physical. He looks like the corners are supposed
- 1:12to look. Yeah, he definitely has the size. I like that sacred
- 1:18art. Only two wins coming in they did. They're coming off a win
- 1:21against Central Connecticut the other day thirty one twenty four. They don't score a
- 1:23lot, only fourteen a game, but they run the ball pretty well.
- 1:27One hundred and sixty game in their ten games. What would you say is
- 1:33their bread and butter? Is it the rushing game? Is that what you're
- 1:34going to be looking at. Well, you know, I come with a
- 1:37different plan every week, but it boils down to them wanting to run the
- 1:41football. I mean, that's what they want to do. You know.
- 1:44I think they'll try to spread us out and run the football on us.
- 1:47They take their shots down the field. I think, you know, most
- 1:49certainly they'll have some trick plays early in the game. I go back to
- 1:53our UMAs game last year where we got hit with some trick plays. So
- 1:59we got to be, you know, prepared for all that stuff. But
- 2:01they do a good job of running the ball. You know, they stick
- 2:04with it, and you know they got another quarterback or two quarterbacks that they
- 2:10use that they both can run the football. And uh, you know,
- 2:15for us, it's about and I've said this to you many times, it's
- 2:19you know, we got to do a great job this week preparing for our
- 2:21opponent and their tendencies and their personnel and their schemes. But we we've got
- 2:25to we've got to play up to the standard that we believe we need to
- 2:30play up to to keep progressing as a football team. And I feel that
- 2:35way in every game, regardless of of who our opponent is. It's so
- 2:38important to prepare all week for your opponent and then go out and play against
- 2:42yourself. So that's that's kind of been our emphasis since I've got here,
- 2:46and it'll be our emphasis this week. We have a lot of respect for
- 2:50Sacred Heart and and we got to go out and we gotta we got to
- 2:53play our best football. Uh. They're two quarterbacks, Rob McCoy, where's
- 2:58number two? Kid Perbulah. They kind of play a similar amount of plays,
- 3:05I think looking at their stats anyway, they throw around fifty completion rates.
- 3:08They've thrown a lot of interceptions. Though. Could this be an opportunity
- 3:12for the Huskies to get that takeaway game going and get great field position.
- 3:15It could be if we play well and take advantage of the opportunities. You
- 3:19know, we got to stop the run, so they have to put the
- 3:23ball in the air, and then you know, we got to do a
- 3:23good job of trying to rush the passer, and we got to do a
- 3:27good job in coverage in our zones and being where we're supposed to be and
- 3:30playing tight and man and maybe getting some battered balls. But they'll play those
- 3:35guys both. You know, they've started number six, I think six games
- 3:40and number two four games, so I'm not sure who they'll start. My
- 3:46gut is they'll start number two. But they're both good players, you know,
- 3:50and they both have mobility. But we got to stop the run and
- 3:54force them to throw. Then maybe we have a shot to get some plays
- 3:58made. Yeah, get a lead and put them down defensively and take care
- 4:01of business. That's what we're looking forward to, Coach. We appreciate it
- 4:04every week, getting together, catching up and looking ahead. Jimora and The
- 4:10Yukon Football Coaches Show. Thanks Jim. All right, man, all right,
- 4:14We'll be back with more Isaiah Davis coming up and Lou Hanson as well.
