- 0:00Psalm 25 from the book of Psalms.
- 0:04First, let's pray. Dear Lord, please speak to us
- 0:08through these words that David expressed.
- 0:11We ask this in Jesus name in you, Lord my God, I put my
- 0:18trust. I trust in you.
- 0:21Do not let me put be put to shame, nor let my enemies
- 0:25triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will
- 0:30ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are
- 0:34treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, Teach
- 0:39me your paths, guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are
- 0:45my. You are God, my Saviour, and my
- 0:49hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy
- 0:54and love, for they are from of old.
- 0:58Do not remember the sins, my youth and my rebellious ways
- 1:03according to Your love. Remember Me, for You, Lord, are
- 1:06good. Good and upright is the Lord.
- 1:10Therefore He instructs sinners in His ways.
- 1:14He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
- 1:19All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those
- 1:24who keep the demands of His covenant.
- 1:28For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it
- 1:32is great. Who then are those who fear the
- 1:35Lord? He will instruct them in the
- 1:39ways they should choose. They will spend their days in
- 1:42prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the
- 1:45land. The Lord confides in those who
- 1:49fear Him. He makes His covenant known to
- 1:52them. My eyes are ever on the Lord,
- 1:56for only He will release my feet from the snare.
- 2:01Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and
- 2:04afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart
- 2:08and free me from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my
- 2:11distress and take away all my sins.
- 2:15See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me.
- 2:19Guard my life and rescue me. Do not let me be put to shame,
- 2:23for I take refuge in You. May integrity and uprightness
- 2:27protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you.
- 2:31Deliver Israel, O God, from all their troubles.
- 2:36And that is the end of Psalm 25 S As I've done in the past, I
- 2:42did look at all of the references to Lord and God and
- 2:46in in this and there are several different words that are used
- 2:58here. So many of the references to
- 3:02Lord are actually God's personal name, Yahweh, as people say it,
- 3:08but it's WHYH or I'm sorry, did a reverse YHWH.
- 3:18So in the beginning of the Psalm, David is talking about
- 3:22his trust in the Lord, and then he's talking about how that's
- 3:26that's a good thing because it'll never fail because anyone
- 3:30who trusts in God has no nothing to worry about because God
- 3:37prevails. I mean, even in this life, if
- 3:40it's not what we anticipated, that's not the end.
- 3:44We were created to be eternal beings and it's a matter of
- 3:49where we're going to be in the end.
- 3:51So the eternity with God, I mean, that's going to be the
- 3:55greatest thing that anyone, no matter how successful, how
- 4:00wonderful their life has been, God's Kingdom is going to be
- 4:04even greater than that. So anyone and and God promises,
- 4:09all the people who are struggling here on earth will be
- 4:12rewarded greatly in heaven. So God has very, he has given us
- 4:18promises and we can trust in him.
- 4:21He's true, He's never changing and we can trust what he says.
- 4:27And David is saying this in the Psalm.
- 4:29And then the other thing that is really, I think important for
- 4:33all of us is that God teaches us along the way as when we first
- 4:41came to believe. That's that's the first step.
- 4:45But then God works in us, He gives us his Holy Spirit, and we
- 4:53begin to change. And God has a purpose for us.
- 4:57So we need to be close to God so that we know what God, you know,
- 5:03desires of us. What did God create us to do?
- 5:07What things did God want us to do while we were here?
- 5:10And so God can teach us those things of, of what he had in
- 5:16mind for us when he created us. Then he's reflecting on God's
- 5:22mercy and his love. And he's also saying, you know,
- 5:26remember when I did all those bad things?
- 5:28Well, don't remember those. And God fortunately says in in
- 5:33Scripture, he says, you know your sins.
- 5:35I will remember no more. So when we've been forgiven by
- 5:38God, he doesn't hold those things against us.
- 5:41He gives us, you know, he he forgives us.
- 5:45He's merciful, He's loving and he's merciful and he forgives
- 5:50when we are sincere and wanting to be forgiven for something
- 5:55that we've done, He forgives us. Now, the one thing that he
- 6:02requests of us is that we turn away from that, that we don't
- 6:05keep going back to that same sin that we asked him to forgive us
- 6:10because that's not really sincere if we keep doing it.
- 6:14So God does want us to turn away from things that are sinful
- 6:20because he made us in his image. And do you think he wants
- 6:25people, you know, very, you know, if if we are reflecting
- 6:29his image and everybody knows that, then do you think God's
- 6:33going to want us to be sinning? Because God doesn't sin, You
- 6:37know, we're not going to be 100% perfect, but we are in a process
- 6:44with His Holy Spirit. It's by the power of His Holy
- 6:47Spirit that our life begins to change and we begin to have less
- 6:51and less of that in our life. And then someday when Jesus
- 6:55returns, we will be instantly changed into immortal beings,
- 7:01and at that point we will be perfected.
- 7:03And then there won't be any sin anymore, as far as I understand,
- 7:08because the sin cannot be in the presence of God and will not be
- 7:12in God's Kingdom. So I presume that once we've
- 7:15crossed over that threshold and we have the immortal bodies,
- 7:20then we won't have to worry about sin anymore.
- 7:24And I think that's probably why there was the tree of life that
- 7:29was guarded after Adam and Eve sinned so that they couldn't,
- 7:34you know, quote, eat of that fruit, whether this was just
- 7:37symbolic but had meaning. You know, someone sinful should
- 7:41not be allowed to eat the fruit of eternal life because then
- 7:46that would go on in perpetual. There would be perpetual.
- 7:50And we know that in God's Kingdom there is no sin.
- 7:55So it's everything will be perfect, restored and the way
- 8:00God intended it to be when God made everything, he said it was
- 8:03good. And that's what his Kingdom will
- 8:05be like. It won't be broken like here.
- 8:08So anyway, David's remembering God's mercy and love and saying,
- 8:11please, you know, forget about my sins that I had in the past.
- 8:16But in the middle of this in verse 5, when he talks to when
- 8:21he says, guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my
- 8:25Savior Elohim, which is plural. And then it's Yesa or Yesa Yesa.
- 8:34I'm should have listened to how it's pronounced before I said
- 8:37it, but I don't. So anyway, it's similar to
- 8:40Yeshua because I think Yeshua means salvation.
- 8:45And so Yesha, let's say it's Elohim, Yesha.
- 8:49It's interesting combination. Just that happened to become
- 8:53Jesus's name and it actually means salvation.
- 8:57But here he's speaking to for you are God my Savior, and it's
- 9:03the plural. So in my understanding, this is
- 9:06referring to the Trinity, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
- 9:10But he's also talking about a Savior, which would be Yeshua,
- 9:17which is one of the three persons of God.
- 9:23I know it's a complex thing and I, I think that's one of the
- 9:26mysteries that will finally be revealed when we, I don't know,
- 9:30when Jesus returns, maybe or maybe not exactly.
- 9:34Then maybe when we are actually in God's Kingdom, when we, I
- 9:38think maybe then we'll understand it all.
- 9:42So then he talks about how the Lord by his personal name
- 9:47instructs sinners. So that's another important
- 9:51thing to remember is that when we come to God, we come to him
- 9:54just like we are. We're all full of sin.
- 9:57We're a mess. And we usually, not usually, but
- 10:00some of us need that. Well, all of us have sin and all
- 10:06of us need that to be cleaned up.
- 10:08And so that's what God will do if we humble ourselves, because
- 10:14if we say, Oh, I'm not a Sinner, then we just, we haven't read
- 10:18the Bible, probably because once you read the Bible, you realize
- 10:22all the different things that you could do to sin and do, and
- 10:27just even our thoughts, that's even sinning.
- 10:30So how can you keep intrusive thoughts that you you really
- 10:35don't want, but they creep in? And so we're all sinners, but he
- 10:42instructs those of us who are humble and can admit when we
- 10:47have those things happen. He guides the humble in what is
- 10:51right and teaches them his way, which is Jesus said, I am the
- 10:57way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
- 11:00except through me. So we certainly want to know the
- 11:03way to the Father to the Kingdom of God.
- 11:08That's what that's what this is all about.
- 11:10This whole book, the Bible is about introducing us to God's
- 11:15Kingdom and his plans for us. It's a story of how God well,
- 11:21there's AI guess there's a lot more, but but after it got
- 11:25started when well, when Jesus came, I think it was like repent
- 11:30for the Kingdom of God has come near which the Kingdom of God
- 11:34was represented by Jesus. But there is a future Kingdom of
- 11:38God that will be coming. So then David's talking about
- 11:43all the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful.
- 11:46I mean, thank God that he is loving and he is faithful.
- 11:52Like he doesn't leave us. You know, people on the other
- 11:56hand can be void of love or not faithful, but that's not who God
- 12:02is. And God wants us to be like Him,
- 12:06to be loving and faithful also. And says all the ways of the
- 12:12Lord are loving and faithful to those who keep the demands of
- 12:17His covenant. So we are in a covenant with
- 12:21Him. He is loving and faithful and we
- 12:26should also be loving and faithful to our side of it all
- 12:33for this. Let's see where else.
- 12:36And he talks about forgiveness and then about the fear of the
- 12:44Lord. And it says, who then are those
- 12:48who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the
- 12:50ways they should choose. So if you have the fear of the
- 12:54Lord, it's not obviously it's not that you're afraid of him
- 12:58and you're running away from him.
- 13:00It's the opposite of that. You respect him.
- 13:03You know that he has the power to send you to eternal
- 13:10punishment or to let you into his Kingdom.
- 13:15And he can, I mean, he can do anything.
- 13:18I mean, he created the world. He holds it all together.
- 13:23Everything, The things that we just don't think about on a
- 13:27regular day is, you know, just the, the awesomeness of God and
- 13:33just that every like he knows every single tiny hair on our
- 13:36head and think about like all the leaves on the trees and all
- 13:41the different species and all the, the ways that things grow.
- 13:47And God did all of that. He designed all of that.
- 13:52And if we ever think that we have something that God can't
- 13:55handle, that means we've forgotten who God is because
- 13:59look at the creation, look at everything he's made and you can
- 14:05see how awesome he is. And that is, I mean, would you,
- 14:12would you fear not like I'm, I mean, in a, in a sense there is
- 14:16some scared. I mean, a lot of people when
- 14:18they did see God, well, I think they probably saw Jesus because
- 14:22it said no one saw the face of God.
- 14:24But but when they did see God, then they, they were, they were
- 14:30very fearful because they knew their sin.
- 14:34And like Isaiah, he said he's, he just said, you know, help me
- 14:38because I'm a man on unclean lips.
- 14:40And then his lips were purified. An Angel purified the lips, his
- 14:44lips. But just think about that, like
- 14:48the people who have come in contact with God, they just
- 14:54bowed down immediately and it says that every knee is going to
- 14:57bow when Jesus returns. That's going to happen.
- 15:01And and that's just the reaction that people will have because
- 15:05that there is that immediate knowing of who he is and that
- 15:10respect and that reverence and realizing who we are in
- 15:15comparison to his greatness. Not that we are to compare
- 15:20ourselves to Him, but just that He's so different from us.
- 15:26And when we see that, then we will we will be humbled for
- 15:31sure. But those who already fear him
- 15:35and realize His awesomeness, He will instruct us in the ways
- 15:42that we should choose. So ask God about which way.
- 15:46Ask God about decisions. He.
- 15:48He wants to do that. He wants to have a relationship
- 15:50with us. Then it says they will spend
- 15:53their days in prosperity and their descendants will inherit
- 15:57the land. Now, this has multiple meanings
- 16:00because of course, to the Israelites, there was a specific
- 16:04piece of land that was being discussed.
- 16:06But ultimately it'll be God's Kingdom, which will be a land
- 16:10because the new Jerusalem is coming down out of the heavens
- 16:14at some point in the future. And it's going to be very
- 16:17different. It's the city itself is going to
- 16:20be half the size of the United States of America from East to
- 16:23West. So I looked at measurements that
- 16:27were given in the Bible that were translated and it's it's
- 16:31and it's going to be like a big cube because it's as tall as it
- 16:36is wide as it is deep. And it has like, I think it has
- 16:4112 levels and it's the 12 or 24. No, I think it's 12 for the
- 16:50either the different tribes or it was the apostles.
- 16:54I know that maybe the the gates or what have the different
- 16:58tribes names, but then I think the levels have are related to
- 17:03the 12 disciples. Anyway, that's kind of
- 17:07insignificant. My mind was kind of wandering.
- 17:09But anyway, there there's that land that God will bring forth
- 17:14out of the heavens after this whole earth is going to be
- 17:18destroyed. That's another thing to think
- 17:20about. Not to create fear, but that's
- 17:23what the Bible tells us. And I don't believe that's going
- 17:28to happen until after Jesus reigns for 1000 years.
- 17:32So it's not in that close of a near term future for us.
- 17:37But eventually this whole earth is going to be gone.
- 17:42It'll be destroyed to where a new heaven will come down.
- 17:47And so that is that is something to look forward to as far as
- 17:52God's Kingdom. And then it says the Lord
- 17:55confides in those who fear him, and he makes his covenant known
- 17:59to him. I mean, there are like special
- 18:02things that God will reveal to people when we respect him.
- 18:09And that certainly happened to me, and that happened to me when
- 18:14I actually took that step of getting baptized.
- 18:17And when I decided I was going to get baptized, I decided I was
- 18:21no longer going to be a hypocrite.
- 18:23Not that I would be perfect, but just that I was really making
- 18:28that decision. I am, you know, putting to death
- 18:31my old life and I'm not going to just do this and make everybody
- 18:35think I'm, oh, you know, good now, but I'm actually going to
- 18:40do it like it's going to require changes in my life.
- 18:43And I made that commitment. And anyway, then it was that
- 18:48night that some things started happening to me and they've kind
- 18:53of they've continued, they've slowed down a little bit
- 18:55recently. But for all these years that was
- 18:59in 21 and now this is 2026. So the past five years God has
- 19:05done some like these amazing things that, you know, I never
- 19:10had happened before in my life. So this is true about God doing
- 19:17special things. It says my eyes are ever on the
- 19:21Lord. Let's see.
- 19:22Then he's talking about, you know, he's kind of talking about
- 19:25all these praises and just, you know, reminding, not like God
- 19:29needs to be reminded, but telling God about how great he
- 19:32is and how is you know, he's he's feared in a respect
- 19:36respected way. And then he starts to ask for
- 19:40things, and he starts talking about his loneliness, his
- 19:43affliction, and he's wanting to be freed, and he wants his sins
- 19:48taken away, and he wants God to guard him and rescue him.
- 19:52And he takes refuge in God, and God gives him hope, and he knows
- 19:57that God delivers. So that's how the end of the
- 20:01Psalm ends up. So it's pretty much we could
- 20:04probably relate to David's feelings here and in our
- 20:09everyday life, in different times of our life where we can
- 20:12see these things about God. And then there are these times
- 20:14where we need them so badly. And that's what David expresses
- 20:20here. And the verse 21, it says
- 20:26Elohim. Again, it's either verse 21 or
- 20:2922 because I wrote it in between the two.
- 20:31I I think it's the 1st 21 though.
- 20:35But may integrity and uprightness protect me because
- 20:38my hope Lord is in you. That's actually Elohim and it's
- 20:43the plural version and so I believe that's referring to the
- 20:47Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Anyway, that is my what I got
- 20:54after what I understood from reading these words.
- 20:58I'm going to go to the study Bible and read through the
- 21:01questions and answers and then wrap up the podcast.
- 21:06So why ask God to remember? Remember is a strong covenant
- 21:11word. Asking God to remember does not
- 21:13imply that he is forgotten. Kind of funny that we just said
- 21:15that is or that I just said that it is asking God to act now
- 21:22based on his past promises. How does it help to be humble?
- 21:27God will not give what we God will not give what we are too
- 21:32proud to receive. Pride is like a barrier that
- 21:36blocks out the very things God desires to do in our lives.
- 21:41God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble.
- 21:46What covenant must we keep? This likely refers to the laws
- 21:50of Moses, which contain God's covenant with his people.
- 21:54According to David, we should follow God's loving and faithful
- 21:57ways. Christians today have been given
- 22:00the new covenant since these words were written, but the
- 22:04principle remains the same. We can express our love by God
- 22:09for God by submitting to his ways and obeying them.
- 22:15So. And we have to remember that
- 22:18Jesus said he did not abolish the Old Testament laws, but he
- 22:23came to fulfil what the prophets had said.
- 22:29So why appeal for mercy on the basis of God's name?
- 22:33The Lord's character and reputation are expressed in His
- 22:37name. Because of his character, we can
- 22:40count on him to forgive the prosperity of the Lord's servant
- 22:44brings honor to the Lord's name. So to preserve his reputation,
- 22:48he will act on behalf of his people.
- 22:52Does faithfulness lead to prosperity?
- 22:56And that didn't answer it. It refers me to a couple things
- 23:00about another question, so I'm not going to read that.
- 23:05Why would Almighty God confide in people?
- 23:10This metaphor illustrates an intimate communion with God, as
- 23:14though mere humans could sit in God's sit on God's heavenly
- 23:18counsel. God's love for people causes him
- 23:23to long for fellowship with them.
- 23:27What does it mean to fear the Lord?
- 23:29To fear the Lord does not mean to be afraid of him.
- 23:32It means to Revere him for who he is and live in a manner that
- 23:36honors him. Can all of God's children
- 23:40experience the freedom David was asking for?
- 23:43Like David, we live in in the time before Christ has once and
- 23:48for all defeated evil and death. Revelation 19, verse 11 through
- 23:5321. Though we still struggle here on
- 23:56earth, we can experience glimpses of the freedom for
- 23:59which David was praying, but we won't fully experience it until
- 24:03we're in heaven or until God's Kingdom comes here.
- 24:08Certainly we should follow David's example by praying to
- 24:11the only one who can grant such freedom.
- 24:15And that ends the study. Bible's commentary on Psalm
- 24:21chapter. Psalm 25, not chapter.
- 24:24Well, I guess it is chapter 25, but it's Psalm 25.
- 24:27Anyway. If you found this meaningful,
- 24:30please share it with someone else.
- 24:32If you're not subscribed and would like to say a chapter a
- 24:35day, please subscribe. And this is, this concludes
- 24:41Psalm 25. Next time we will do Psalm 26.
