- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to a meeting of the minds crafted from decades
- 0:04Speaker 1: of talk show experience, an extension of the magic they've
- 0:08Speaker 1: created together on radio in the phenomenon called M & M.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hot topics in the news and wisdom from life. It's
- 0:16Speaker 1: Mark Davis and Mike Gallagher. This is M & M Extra.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hey, everybody.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Welcome on in.
- 0:23Speaker 2: It is Wednesday. It is the second day of September.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And I'm Mark Davis. Half of the M's, the other half,
- 0:28Speaker 2: Mike Gallagher, is he is back tomorrow. He is back tomorrow.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Don't tease me, my friend. Don't tease me. He's back tomorrow.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So we'll have a Thursday and a Friday that's actual
- 0:37Speaker 2: both M's of the M & M Extra experience. And
- 0:41Speaker 2: the extra refers to just the little something extra that
- 0:44Speaker 2: we always seem to have. After we finish our respective
- 0:47Speaker 2: radio shows, you would think that three hours of yammering
- 0:51Speaker 2: at people, with people, and about people would just about
- 0:54Speaker 2: do it. We would just sort of tumble away, exhausted.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And such is not the case. There's always more. There's
- 1:00Speaker 2: always a little something extra. Hence the name. And we
- 1:04Speaker 2: thank you for checking in for the live stream on YouTube.
- 1:07Speaker 2: YouTube is right there with 11 a.m. Central, Eastern, M &
- 1:12Speaker 2: M Extra. Click it, like it, subscribe to it. And
- 1:15Speaker 2: then later in the day, in the afternoon on Apple
- 1:17Speaker 2: and Spotify, it drops on down there. All of it,
- 1:20Speaker 2: all of it, thanks to our title sponsor, our friends
- 1:23Speaker 2: at Preborn. You can stand for life today by joining
- 1:26Speaker 2: us and providing ultrasounds to girls and women. Do you
- 1:29Speaker 2: know you double the likelihood she'll choose life? 833-850-BABY, 833-850-BABY,
- 1:37Speaker 2: or go to preborn.com, preborn.com slash mmextra, and we thank
- 1:42Speaker 2: you enormously. for what we're going to ask you to
- 1:44Speaker 2: do a little later on in today's episode. All right.
- 1:47Speaker 2: In today's episode, a little bit, I could do a
- 1:50Speaker 2: little bit of every show on the Ken Paxton, James
- 1:54Speaker 2: Tallarico race. And if it were just Ken Paxton, James Tallarico,
- 1:57Speaker 2: that would be conservative Republican, liberal Democrat, Texas seat. You'd
- 2:02Speaker 2: think it would be comfortable, but boy, there was 2018
- 2:04Speaker 2: wasn't there. There was, um, There was Beto O'Rourke, who
- 2:08Speaker 2: came within two and a half points of beating Ted Cruz.
- 2:11Speaker 2: How in the world did that happen? Well, you didn't
- 2:15Speaker 2: hear me saying a lot at the time, but the
- 2:19Speaker 2: passage of time and looking back through the benefit of
- 2:23Speaker 2: the rearview mirror, Beto, he was wrong about everything, but
- 2:28Speaker 2: he was a pretty gifted candidate. He had a little
- 2:31Speaker 2: something going there. And I'll tell you what Ted Cruz
- 2:33Speaker 2: had going. Obviously, it was Ted Cruz.
- 2:35Speaker 1: He was the.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Benefited from a lot of conservative goodwill. But there was
- 2:41Speaker 2: also a little bit of a Ted Cruz hangover in 2018.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Memories ran long of how slow he was to board
- 2:47Speaker 2: the Trump train. Oh, he's fine now. But then, and
- 2:53Speaker 2: there was the whole sign issue. Everybody saw Beto signs
- 2:56Speaker 2: all over the place. People would call me all the
- 2:58Speaker 2: time and say, Mark, I got nothing but Beto signs.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And what I thought was a semi-conservative neighborhood. And it was,
- 3:03Speaker 2: it proved dispiriting, I think, and suppressive to the Republican vote.
- 3:07Speaker 2: So what should have been about a seven or eight
- 3:09Speaker 2: point win wound up being two and a half points.
- 3:12Speaker 2: And people are thinking, oh, could that happen again? Could
- 3:13Speaker 2: that happen again? Anything's possible. Anything is possible. I don't
- 3:21Speaker 2: think it's going to happen. I've The difficulty is that
- 3:32Speaker 2: we have Republicans who are just not getting on board,
- 3:35Speaker 2: that as comfortable, comfortable is not the word, as confident
- 3:39Speaker 2: as I am that Attorney General Paxton is going to
- 3:42Speaker 2: beat woke Opie, it would be really nice if we had, oh,
- 3:46Speaker 2: I don't know, actual Senator John Cornyn in the fight
- 3:50Speaker 2: and some of his butthurt voting bloc that just can't
- 3:54Speaker 2: believe that he lost. And what we have right now,
- 3:59Speaker 2: and this is really sad, is people who want to
- 4:03Speaker 2: punish us. There are soft, squishy, establishment, toady dinosaur Republicans
- 4:09Speaker 2: in Texas and around the country who would love it
- 4:12Speaker 2: if Paxton lost so that the voters of Texas could
- 4:15Speaker 2: stand scolded for having dared to differ from from the
- 4:21Speaker 2: flavor of leadership that they like, the John McCain, Mitt Romney,
- 4:26Speaker 2: Paul Ryan kind of go-along-to-get-along style of leadership that has
- 4:32Speaker 2: been kicked to the curb in the era of Trump. Now,
- 4:36Speaker 2: here's how deep it runs. I was looking at a
- 4:39Speaker 2: lot of clips of this, and it's easy to find
- 4:42Speaker 2: John Thune being John Thune or Cornyn himself bagging on Paxton,
- 4:46Speaker 2: which is just pathetic and sad. But here's a guy
- 4:52Speaker 2: we like. This is John Kennedy, right? Colorful, quirky, rogue,
- 5:01Speaker 2: free spirit out of Louisiana. And I like him a lot.
- 5:05Speaker 2: But here in this chat with Jackie Heinrich from this
- 5:08Speaker 2: past Sunday on Fox, you see that maybe even some
- 5:14Speaker 2: of our edgier Republicans can still carry the stench of
- 5:18Speaker 2: the establishment Just get a load of Jackie Heinrich talking
- 5:21Speaker 2: to John Kennedy, where in keeping in mind what the
- 5:24Speaker 2: attitude should be is we got a lot of seats
- 5:27Speaker 2: that we have to win. Alaska, I get it. Ohio,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I get it. All kinds of places, I get it.
- 5:33Speaker 2: But we're going to make sure that we devote enough
- 5:34Speaker 2: money as a national Republican Party and the NRSC, the
- 5:38Speaker 2: National Republican Senatorial Committee. We're going to make doggone sure
- 5:42Speaker 2: that Ken Paxton has all the support he needs. That
- 5:46Speaker 2: should be the attitude. Should be. Roll it.
- 5:50Speaker 4: It didn't sound from his answer that the president made
- 5:53Speaker 4: any commitments, either himself or through his super PAC, to
- 5:57Speaker 4: write checks for Paxton, at least right now. Does Senate
- 6:01Speaker 4: Leadership Fund or NRSC have any plans for TV ads
- 6:06Speaker 4: to support him? Because he's down in spending there.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Well, I listened to your interview. It was very good,
- 6:14Speaker 5: by the way, with the attorney general. Look, there's no
- 6:17Speaker 5: sense bubble wrapping it. We've got a race in Texas.
- 6:23Speaker 5: And the attorney general is going to have to do
- 6:26Speaker 5: two things. He's going to have to point out the
- 6:29Speaker 5: deficiencies of Mr.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Tavarico.
- 6:32Speaker 5: He really is a Lulu Lennon, and he's a little
- 6:37Speaker 5: bit of a weenie. But at the same time, Mr.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Paxton is going to have to talk about what he's
- 6:43Speaker 5: going to do, a positive platform for the United States Senate.
- 6:47Speaker 5: You can't win an election by saying the other guy's
- 6:50Speaker 5: worse than me. Money is an issue.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Mr.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Tattlerico has been raising bucket loads of money from California, Hollywood,
- 7:00Speaker 5: all the beautiful people who partied with Harvey Weinstein. We
- 7:05Speaker 5: in the Senate don't have the money budgeted for Texas.
- 7:08Speaker 5: We need help from the president. The president says he
- 7:12Speaker 5: has $ 850 million in his campaign accounts. That's a lot
- 7:18Speaker 5: of jack. I'm hoping that the president's going to spend
- 7:21Speaker 5: $ 100 or $ 200 million in Texas, but he hasn't committed
- 7:24Speaker 5: to it yet. But in the meantime... You know, we've
- 7:29Speaker 5: got a race and I'm not going to play act
- 7:31Speaker 5: and say that we don't.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So so there we are. And and when you have
- 7:36Speaker 2: people establishment fever. Can grip. Even the even some of
- 7:47Speaker 2: the more courageous of our Republican standard bearers. And when
- 7:54Speaker 2: you have that. sort of self-protective glaze that comes over you,
- 8:02Speaker 2: it gets to be really challenging to win. What you
- 8:07Speaker 2: have here is a sad, sad situation in which you
- 8:14Speaker 2: have folks who were so wedded to the old school
- 8:21Speaker 2: way of governing who just cannot handle the fact that
- 8:23Speaker 2: Trump won, certainly can't handle the fact that Paxton won.
- 8:28Speaker 2: And you have these folks who now have a grudge
- 8:32Speaker 2: that is apparently going to last a lifetime. And I've
- 8:36Speaker 2: got another example of what cost that grudge may exact
- 8:41Speaker 2: as soon as I tell you something else that can
- 8:43Speaker 2: last a lifetime, and that is the weight of that
- 8:46Speaker 2: you lose on PhD weight loss. Mike is a living
- 8:49Speaker 2: testimony to this. What is happening in a lot of
- 8:53Speaker 2: people's weight loss programs is they reach a point and
- 8:57Speaker 2: it works and you lose three pounds, you lose nine pounds,
- 8:59Speaker 2: you lose 12 pounds, and then you just don't lose
- 9:01Speaker 2: anything anymore. It's like it bottoms out. I'm still doing
- 9:04Speaker 2: what the program calls for, but I'm just not losing
- 9:06Speaker 2: any more weight. And Mike was in that same position
- 9:09Speaker 2: and got deeply involved with the greatness of Dr. Ashley
- 9:14Speaker 2: Lucas and the brilliance of the PhD weight loss program.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And what they now have is the opportunity for you
- 9:20Speaker 2: to do this at 864-644-1900, 864-644-1900. Because according to their
- 9:27Speaker 2: client survey data, eight out of 10 PhD clients dropped 10%
- 9:31Speaker 2: or more of their body weight and 96% reported better energy.
- 9:35Speaker 2: You can do it. All you have to do is
- 9:37Speaker 2: make the call. And when you do, and you mentioned
- 9:39Speaker 2: Mike G, you get two free weeks in the program
- 9:42Speaker 2: and they even cover the cost of your food. That's
- 9:44Speaker 2: a $ 1, 500 total value. So let's do this.
- 9:46Speaker 5: 864-644-1900. 864-644-1900.
- 9:46Speaker 2: And mention Mike G. Go to myphdweightloss.com. And then, of course,
- 9:49Speaker 2: you also have 864-644-1900 and mention Mike G or go
- 9:55Speaker 2: to myphdweightloss.com. And then, of course, you also have the
- 10:00Speaker 2: greatness of relief factor. This is something that Mike and
- 10:02Speaker 2: I can tell you about. It's something that Mike and
- 10:04Speaker 2: I will tell you about. It's something I'm going to
- 10:06Speaker 2: tell you about right now. You think about pain relief
- 10:09Speaker 2: and you think maybe there's some surgery that can get
- 10:11Speaker 2: me out of pain. And hey, sometimes it does. Maybe
- 10:14Speaker 2: there's some prescriptions I can be on that relieve my pain.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And hey, sometimes they do. But how about something that's natural?
- 10:20Speaker 2: How about something like Relief Factor? 1-800-4-RELIEF, 1-800-4-RELIEF or relieffactor.com.
- 10:28Speaker 2: For Mike, it was some back issues. For me, it
- 10:30Speaker 2: was some arm issues. Whatever issue you've got, get on
- 10:33Speaker 2: the starter kit, $ 17.
- 10:34Speaker 1: 76.
- 10:34Speaker 2: It's a fantastic thing. Three-week starter. See if it works
- 10:40Speaker 2: for you. If it does, you continue down the Relief
- 10:42Speaker 2: Factor path, but it all starts at the beginning where
- 10:45Speaker 2: you call 1-800-4-RELIEF or go to relieffactor.com. And for $ 17. 76,
- 10:51Speaker 2: you get the starter kit and find out if whatever
- 10:53Speaker 2: little aches and pains you have might just be taken
- 10:55Speaker 2: care of with the magic of Relief Factor. Go to
- 10:59Speaker 2: relieffactor.com or 1-800-4-RELIEF and you'll connect with a friendly local
- 11:04Speaker 2: team and they'll do everything they can to help. And
- 11:06Speaker 2: we hope soon you'll be sharing your story with us
- 11:09Speaker 2: as well. So people are starting to notice... that, look,
- 11:15Speaker 2: primaries are a tough thing. Losing is really hard. Even
- 11:19Speaker 2: in Democrat land, Jasmine Crockett hates James Tallarico. I have
- 11:23Speaker 2: to confess, I'm kind of enjoying watching her bang on him.
- 11:26Speaker 2: But that's not being a good Democrat. Isn't it Jasmine's
- 11:29Speaker 2: job to be all in for woke Opie, to be
- 11:32Speaker 2: all in for Jimmy T? She ain't doing it. And
- 11:35Speaker 2: Democrats are none do happy about that. In South Carolina,
- 11:38Speaker 2: I played a little snippet of a state you know
- 11:40Speaker 2: well in this environment. Mike knows a lot about it
- 11:42Speaker 2: and His buddy Joey has been filling in for Mike
- 11:44Speaker 2: on the radio, knows a whole lot about South Carolina.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And there was some audio and video of Ralph Norman,
- 11:52Speaker 2: more bellyaching about how Donald Trump endorsed Darlene.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I didn't get that either.
- 11:58Speaker 2: And it was a shock to me, too, of how
- 12:00Speaker 2: that election finished. But when it's over, it's over. Now
- 12:03Speaker 2: it's time to help Darlene beat this Dr. Annie Andrews.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It's time to unite and beat Democrats. In Texas, that's
- 12:11Speaker 2: what it should be about, and it largely will be.
- 12:14Speaker 2: The number of people I'm talking about who are these
- 12:16Speaker 2: troublemakers and malcontents and petulant children, it's not that many people,
- 12:22Speaker 2: but some of them have massive online accounts. Some of them,
- 12:26Speaker 2: this Eric Erickson, who's a good guy. I like him sometimes.
- 12:30Speaker 2: He's right on most things. Oh, the only thing that
- 12:32Speaker 2: Ken Paxton is energetic about is philandering.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Shut up!
- 12:36Speaker 2: Do you want Senator Tallarico? And the answer is yes,
- 12:39Speaker 2: I think he does. I think he does. Now, that's
- 12:42Speaker 2: a big ask. That's a big bridge to cross. Mark,
- 12:45Speaker 2: do you really believe that some of these soft, squishy,
- 12:51Speaker 2: moderate establishment dinosaur Republicans actually want Tallarico to win? Yes, yes,
- 12:59Speaker 2: and yes. I want you to see clips from the
- 13:01Speaker 2: Megyn Kelly show are often tricky, especially lately with me.
- 13:06Speaker 2: But when she's not sending kisses to Tucker, she has
- 13:10Speaker 2: on people like Jesse Kelly. And Jesse Kelly has it
- 13:14Speaker 2: exactly right in this clip from Megan this week, in
- 13:17Speaker 2: which he makes it clear that we are to be
- 13:19Speaker 2: punished and that there absolutely are so-called Republicans who would
- 13:25Speaker 2: be thrilled if Tallarico won, because that would be a
- 13:29Speaker 2: lesson to those of us who voted for Ken Paxton
- 13:32Speaker 2: and To never make that mistake again. Roll it.
- 13:35Speaker 6: Tallarico has outpaced Paxton in direct advertising dollars by a
- 13:39Speaker 6: factor of 200 to one. That Tallarico has raised 30
- 13:45Speaker 6: million dollars in the second quarter of 2026 to Paxton's
- 13:49Speaker 6: nine million. So there's a very serious funding issue. And
- 13:53Speaker 6: add by disparity between the two.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Keep going.
- 13:56Speaker 3: You'll see it again to the every TV commercial, every
- 14:00Speaker 3: TV commercial break.
- 14:01Speaker 1: There will be a.
- 14:01Speaker 3: James Tallarico ad not acting like the commie freak that
- 14:05Speaker 3: he is sitting with his papa talking about Jesus and
- 14:08Speaker 3: groceries every single time.
- 14:10Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:11Speaker 3: So what is happening here? These senators who have been
- 14:15Speaker 3: luxuriating in D.C. and feeling untouchable for a long time
- 14:19Speaker 3: finally got touched. And if you're anybody, if you're John Thune, Kennedy,
- 14:24Speaker 3: Tim Scott, Curtis, McConnell, I know he's retiring, but you
- 14:28Speaker 3: get the drift. If you're any one of these guys,
- 14:31Speaker 3: you sat up in your chair when John Cornyn lost
- 14:34Speaker 3: the primary and said to yourself, oh, no, that could
- 14:39Speaker 3: be me. Are we... Are we are we not allowed
- 14:42Speaker 3: to screw over our voters anymore? Are they going to
- 14:45Speaker 3: actually possibly vote us out of office? And so what
- 14:49Speaker 3: you're seeing is the Senate. This is this is their
- 14:52Speaker 3: fight back. It's not that the GOP Senate is OK
- 14:56Speaker 3: with Ken Paxton losing. The GOP Senate wants Ken Paxton back.
- 15:02Speaker 3: to lose the election so they can look at the
- 15:05Speaker 3: GOP primary voter and say, see, don't ever try that again,
- 15:10Speaker 3: or this is what will happen. The Republican senators, if
- 15:14Speaker 3: they could politically get away with it, would be running
- 15:17Speaker 3: ads for James Tallarico and not Ken Paxton. That's how
- 15:21Speaker 3: bad they want Ken Paxton to lose the race, and
- 15:22Speaker 3: that's why.
- 15:23Speaker 2: So there we are. No, I don't believe that these
- 15:27Speaker 2: obstructionists and troublemakers and I don't think they're going to
- 15:35Speaker 2: spell doom for a Republican Senate seat. Some of them
- 15:40Speaker 2: would love it. I've talked to callers who, it's funny,
- 15:44Speaker 2: they pretty well admit to me that they'd, like it's Tallarico,
- 15:48Speaker 2: he'd be okay for one term while you people learn
- 15:52Speaker 2: your lesson and before you dare to go too Trumpy
- 15:57Speaker 2: on us or too Paxton-y or too MAGA. Maybe you
- 16:02Speaker 2: people will be whipped into submission. Guess what? No, we won't.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Because Ken Paxton is going to win. And for those
- 16:11Speaker 2: who have been part of this little silly little game
- 16:14Speaker 2: that they're playing, just go be Democrats. That's what you've become.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Maybe just for this election cycle, maybe you'll be back.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I hope you'll be back. I'll be glad to welcome
- 16:22Speaker 2: you back if you return to common sense and conservatism.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But no one with a shred of conservative DNA or
- 16:29Speaker 2: the slightest hint of republicanism should be willfully engaged in anything,
- 16:35Speaker 2: anything that facilitates the election of James Tallarico. I want
- 16:41Speaker 2: to facilitate something before we close up shop here and
- 16:44Speaker 2: get ready to welcome Mike back for tomorrow. And this
- 16:47Speaker 2: is boy, boy, can Mike and I team up on this?
- 16:50Speaker 2: Because Mike and I were in Guatemala together. And boy,
- 16:55Speaker 2: do we have plenty of stories. And yes, we can
- 17:00Speaker 2: tell all of them. My favorite one is how we
- 17:02Speaker 2: gathered together to help bring food to starving children. And
- 17:09Speaker 2: I've been doing radio for more than 40 years, and
- 17:11Speaker 2: Mike's been doing it for a really long time. Nothing
- 17:14Speaker 2: prepares you for standing in a community where hunger is
- 17:18Speaker 2: the daily reality. We've watched kids line up for meals,
- 17:22Speaker 2: maybe the only meal they're getting, and they're getting it.
- 17:25Speaker 2: From Food for the Poor, they've been on the ground
- 17:27Speaker 2: for more than 40 years. 4.7 billion meals, 96,000 homes.
- 17:34Speaker 2: What sets them apart at Food for the Poor? They
- 17:37Speaker 2: don't just drop the boxes and go, hey, enjoy the
- 17:40Speaker 2: food and hightail it out. They are there. They are
- 17:44Speaker 2: people of faith. They build self-sufficiency. It's not a handout.
- 17:48Speaker 2: It's a hand up. So your gift can change lives.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So I'm hoping you're inspired right now. to do a
- 17:55Speaker 2: couple of things I'm going to describe. It would be
- 17:57Speaker 2: any of the above.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Ready?
- 17:59Speaker 2: Text FFTP, as in food for the poor. Text FFTP
- 18:04Speaker 2: to 51555. It doesn't instantly come get your money. It
- 18:08Speaker 2: gives you a link where you can give us 10
- 18:11Speaker 2: bucks or 100 or whatever. Text FFTP to 51555. That's 51555.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Or you can just kick it old school and do
- 18:19Speaker 2: it on the phone. 855-827-HOPE. 855-827-4673. Mike and I went
- 18:32Speaker 2: to Guatemala. I then went to Haiti. And some of
- 18:36Speaker 2: Guatemala looks like Rodeo Drive compared to Haiti. Don't get
- 18:40Speaker 2: me started. Actually, you can get me started. And I
- 18:42Speaker 2: hope that I've gotten you started in your thought about
- 18:44Speaker 2: caring for the most needy among us here in our hemisphere.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Text FFTP to 51555. FFTP to 51555. Mike thanks you.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I thank you. Food for the Poor thanks you. But
- 19:01Speaker 2: I'll tell you who really thanks you are these kids,
- 19:03Speaker 2: these moms. How'd you like to be a mom? You
- 19:06Speaker 2: got three kids and you have enough food to feed
