Speaker 1: And now move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
• 0:07
  Speaker 2: What's up, everybody?
• 0:08
Speaker 3: Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Bucky Rhett with you
• 0:10
Speaker 3: on a Monday. As we look back on the weekend
• 0:13
Speaker 3: that was a week fifteen, Buck, is this the last
• 0:18
Speaker 3: time we see Rhett where the EYEU hat? Or is
• 0:20
Speaker 3: he going to proudly be wearing that hat next week
• 0:23
Speaker 3: after the knockoff Notre Dame in the college football playoff?
• 0:27
Speaker 1: Well, the one thing I know, he's gonna wear the
• 0:30
Speaker 1: hat regardless. But look, this is interesting. A lot of
• 0:33
Speaker 1: people have this one pegged. It's almost like March Madness,
• 0:36
Speaker 1: where people are always taking the five and twelve line.
• 0:39
Speaker 1: I feel like people are just lining up taking the
• 0:41
Speaker 1: hoosis because they feel like there's disadvantage that they have
• 0:44
Speaker 1: over the fighting ards. I can't wait to see it.
• 0:47
  Speaker 4: I don't know.
• 0:47
Speaker 5: I don't know how we're gonna stack up with all
• 0:49
Speaker 5: that talent and all that prestige. Touchdown, Jesus, I don't
• 0:53
Speaker 5: know how we're gonna do it. I really don't.
• 0:57
Speaker 3: It's going to be there, He's going to be there,
• 0:59
Speaker 3: so it's gonna to be taken to another level.
• 1:01
  Speaker 6: Win.
• 1:01
Speaker 3: It's going to go to another level of of of
• 1:04
Speaker 3: joy and exuberances, and if they lose, he'll be he'll
• 1:06
Speaker 3: be way in the dunch. But we'll have plenty of
• 1:08
Speaker 3: time to get to the college football stuff later in
• 1:09
Speaker 3: the week. We've got a lot of NFL to get to.
• 1:12
Speaker 3: First of all, here the.
• 1:13
Speaker 2: Game of the week, maybe build as the game.
• 1:15
Speaker 3: Of the year based off where these two teams were
• 1:18
Speaker 3: in separate conferences, but Buffalo Detroit that it ended up
• 1:22
Speaker 3: being a high scoring game shouldn't be a surprise, U Buck.
• 1:25
Speaker 3: My first takeaway on this, I'll get it to you
• 1:27
Speaker 3: and go around the horn here, but we can hit
• 1:29
Speaker 3: it from all levels was two things. Number One, Josh
• 1:31
Speaker 3: Allen and I posted this when when when the kids
• 1:34
Speaker 3: were little and used to have a birthday party and
• 1:35
Speaker 3: you go out in the backyard and they're like six
• 1:37
Speaker 3: seven year olds and I'm the all time quarterback with
• 1:39
Speaker 3: a nerf ball. That kind of felt like what it
• 1:41
Speaker 3: was watching Josh Allen out there, like you try and
• 1:44
Speaker 3: try and blitzy and just kind of sidestep them.
• 1:46
Speaker 2: Get out of the way.
• 1:47
Speaker 3: Just just looks like he's on another planet in terms
• 1:50
Speaker 3: of talent and ability. That was my first thought My
• 1:53
Speaker 3: second thought was with Josh Allen watched him the last
• 1:55
Speaker 3: two weeks. I haven't looked at the the the architecture
• 1:58
Speaker 3: plans for this new building, this new stadium in Buffalo,
• 2:01
Speaker 3: but maybe we should make that a dome, if not already,
• 2:04
Speaker 3: because seeing what Josh Allen his skill set does on
• 2:06
Speaker 3: a fast track indoors, they're gonna score fifty points a game.
• 2:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, he is unbelievable. I mean his MVP campaign is
• 2:14
Speaker 1: like a runaway freight training right now. The last two
• 2:16
Speaker 1: weeks where everyone had the opportunity to watch him on
• 2:19
Speaker 1: the main stage, he is dominated. He's been nothing short
• 2:21
Speaker 1: or brilliant. And I think what Josh Allen is and
• 2:25
Speaker 1: I saw this stat like like what he's had three
• 2:27
Speaker 1: straight seasons where he's had thirty five total touchdowns. Like then,
• 2:30
Speaker 1: he's had like two seasons of twenty five passing touchdowns
• 2:34
Speaker 1: and ten rushing. I mean, this remarkable numbers for a
• 2:38
Speaker 1: guy who was a dynamic dual threat that we didn't
• 2:41
Speaker 1: even think was a dual threat when he was at Wyoming.
• 2:43
Speaker 1: He is one of the fascinating drafts stories that we
• 2:46
Speaker 1: will talk about in years because I've never seen anyone
• 2:50
Speaker 1: do what he has been able to do and accompls
• 2:52
Speaker 1: with what he's accomplisces when we didn't really see some
• 2:55
Speaker 1: of this stuff from him when he was at Wyoming,
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: you know.
• 2:59
Speaker 5: And I think when you look at Josh Allen's impact,
• 3:01
Speaker 5: you really have to look at it kind of holistically
• 3:03
Speaker 5: because I think if you talk about the Bills defense,
• 3:06
Speaker 5: right and you look at their eleven starters and you're like,
• 3:08
Speaker 5: who's their best, you know who's there who they're eleven best, Well,
• 3:12
Speaker 5: Josh Allen's not on the field, but he's probably their
• 3:14
Speaker 5: twelfth best defender because like, he puts so much pressure
• 3:19
Speaker 5: on the opposing team's offense that I feel like it
• 3:22
Speaker 5: helps Sean McDermott in that defense kind of figure out
• 3:24
Speaker 5: the way that they want to attack. The Lions came
• 3:26
Speaker 5: into this game as one of the best rushing teams
• 3:28
Speaker 5: in football with David Montgomery and Jamier Gibbs. I mean,
• 3:31
Speaker 5: they only ran it and I see fifteen times in
• 3:34
Speaker 5: this game. And look, having Matt Malano back on the
• 3:37
Speaker 5: second level certainly helps Buffalo a little bit. But man,
• 3:40
Speaker 5: when you can force Jared Goff to drop back and
• 3:42
Speaker 5: throw it, you know, sixty times in the game, Yeah,
• 3:46
Speaker 5: you're gonna have a game in which you know you
• 3:47
Speaker 5: have Greg Rousseau and Ed Oliver dominate in pressures at
• 3:52
Speaker 5: thirty four pressures in this game, Jared Goff every other
• 3:56
Speaker 5: play he was getting pressured. And I think you know
• 3:59
Speaker 5: that that offensive line for Detroit, you know, showed a
• 4:01
Speaker 5: couple of cracks and what's been a pretty good foundation
• 4:05
Speaker 5: for this renaissance under Dan Campbell. So I think ultimately,
• 4:09
Speaker 5: when you look at Josh Allen's impact, it's not just
• 4:11
Speaker 5: on the offensive side of the ball.
• 4:12
Speaker 3: Teach Yeah, on the Detroit side of things, though, they're
• 4:15
Speaker 3: going to say we scored forty two points like that,
• 4:17
Speaker 3: our defense couldn't get off the field. I mean, for
• 4:19
Speaker 3: whatever issues we had protecting the quarterback. I mean, that's
• 4:23
Speaker 3: the bigger concern for me is that. And I've said
• 4:25
Speaker 3: this in terms of matchups, like if you we're to
• 4:27
Speaker 3: the point now we can start looking to the playoffs
• 4:29
Speaker 3: and the matchups that are gonna come. And I'm telling you,
• 4:33
Speaker 3: man like the matchup that does not work for them
• 4:35
Speaker 3: in the playoffs with the injuries they have and Ali
• 4:38
Speaker 3: McNeil has now lost for the year, Aiden Hutchinson's out,
• 4:40
Speaker 3: David Montgomery on the offensive side of the ball.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: But to me, it's the defense there.
• 4:45
Speaker 3: If they can't get pressure and they've lost two key
• 4:48
Speaker 3: pieces of that defensive line now and you have Matthew
• 4:51
Speaker 3: Stafford come back home and they have a rematch in
• 4:54
Speaker 3: the playoffs without a full deck along the offensive line.
• 4:57
Speaker 3: We've seen what Matthew Stafford can do to teams who
• 4:59
Speaker 3: can't rush the quarterback. And you saw it in this game,
• 5:02
Speaker 3: what Josh Allen did to that Detroit defense. That to me, Bucky,
• 5:05
Speaker 3: if we're trying to take this and move this forward
• 5:08
Speaker 3: of what this looks like, Man, it's starting to get
• 5:10
Speaker 3: a little troubling there with the injuries mounting up for Detroit.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, the funny thing is the season as
• 5:17
Speaker 1: long as we talked about it being a marathon, and
• 5:18
Speaker 1: we also talk about how you want to be peaking
• 5:20
Speaker 1: at the right time going into the tournament. Unfortunately for
• 5:23
Speaker 1: the Lions it seems like they may be limping into
• 5:25
Speaker 1: the postseason and when it comes to matchups, the defensive
• 5:29
Speaker 1: injuries really make it troubling. When you think about some
• 5:32
Speaker 1: of the teams that could line up against you think
• 5:34
Speaker 1: about the La Rams and all that they could you
• 5:36
Speaker 1: talk about Matthew Stafford, but let's talk about some of
• 5:39
Speaker 1: the other quarterback that they potentially could face. I mean,
• 5:42
Speaker 1: they are a team that is struggling defensively because they
• 5:46
Speaker 1: don't have the ability to rush the passer and they
• 5:48
Speaker 1: may not have enough able bodies to cover. What could
• 5:53
Speaker 1: be a remarkable season for the Detroit Lions could end
• 5:56
Speaker 1: up being a one and down appearance in the postseason,
• 5:59
Speaker 1: just to the war of a trip that they appear
• 6:00
Speaker 1: to be on the losing side of.
• 6:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, they've got Minnesota coming up at the I believe
• 6:06
Speaker 3: it's Week eighteen. Tampa Bay matches up. I saw We'll
• 6:09
Speaker 3: get to Tampa Bay in a minute. And what they
• 6:11
Speaker 3: look like a hot knife through butter the other day.
• 6:13
Speaker 3: And that offense is rolling.
• 6:15
Speaker 2: So it's interesting to see records put records to the side.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: When you get in the postseason, it's kind of who's
• 6:20
Speaker 3: playing their best and as they're getting there, and obviously
• 6:23
Speaker 3: Buffalo has some warts on defense, but man, their offense
• 6:26
Speaker 3: is humming and Detroit now they're starting to starting to
• 6:29
Speaker 3: see a few cracks here as we come down the
• 6:31
  Speaker 3: home stretch.
• 6:32
  Speaker 2: Another great matchup.
• 6:33
Speaker 3: It was the game of the week in the State
• 6:36
Speaker 3: of Pennsylvania. I can promise you that Pittsburgh and Philly
• 6:40
Speaker 3: a game that Philly. It looks lopsided from the score
• 6:43
Speaker 3: twenty seven thirteen. It was pretty competitive for a long time.
• 6:46
Speaker 3: But Rhett, we were on Thursday night the other day
• 6:49
Speaker 3: and everybody's talking about Everyone wants to talk about AJ
• 6:52
Speaker 3: Brown and how upset he is, and I'm like, wow.
• 6:54
  Speaker 2: This is news.
• 6:55
Speaker 3: At eleven Huh, receiver not happy with targets like this
• 6:57
Speaker 3: is very specific to one receiver in one team.
• 7:00
Speaker 2: Haven't seen this before? Yeah, and what do they do?
• 7:03
Speaker 3: Disagrees and come out and fed him the rock and
• 7:06
Speaker 3: got his buddy Devonte Smith involved as well, and the
• 7:09
Speaker 3: passing game looked just fine there in Philly.
• 7:12
Speaker 5: Oh, look at the hugs, right, look at the dance
• 7:14
Speaker 5: that they celebrated with. But look, I think when you
• 7:18
Speaker 5: when you really look at this thing, and I know
• 7:20
Speaker 5: Saquon Barkley didn't have the impact and looked like he
• 7:22
Speaker 5: was a little banged up in this game too, Right,
• 7:25
Speaker 5: But this is this is the right form, it feels
• 7:30
Speaker 5: like for the Eagles offense, the right form you love. Right,
• 7:33
Speaker 5: it's eleven targets for ay J Brown, twelve for Devonte
• 7:35
Speaker 5: Smith ten plus for each of them. Saquon Barkley got
• 7:38
Speaker 5: nineteen carries in this game. I think you'd probably like
• 7:41
Speaker 5: to see Jalen Hurts come down, you know, into the
• 7:43
Speaker 5: single high single digits or ten to eleven carries and give
• 7:46
Speaker 5: Barkley a little bit more. I know that there was
• 7:47
Speaker 5: an availability issue here too, so you take all that
• 7:50
Speaker 5: into account. But that was that's what you want. Right
• 7:55
Speaker 5: You're talking about thirty two attempts for Jalen Hurts and
• 7:58
Speaker 5: then you're talking about out what about forty one rushes
• 8:03
Speaker 5: when it's all said and done. Kenneth Gainwell got in
• 8:05
Speaker 5: there with seven too. Like that feels like the way
• 8:08
Speaker 5: that the Philadelphia Eagles should be operating. And they did
• 8:11
Speaker 5: it against a really good defense in the Pittsburgh Steelers,
• 8:15
Speaker 5: and it was it was pretty fun to watch. It
• 8:18
Speaker 5: was a dominant effort. It felt like when you compare
• 8:20
  Speaker 5: the two offenses.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, look a really dominant effort when you look at
• 8:25
Speaker 1: the offense, and right, I think you're right about the formula.
• 8:28
Speaker 1: They had forty two rushing attempts, they were able to
• 8:31
Speaker 1: throw the ball, They got the ball to their primary playmakers.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: The funny thing is Devonte Smith and A. J.
• 8:35
Speaker 6: Brown. It wasn't like they averaged.
• 8:37
Speaker 1: A ton of yards per cats, but they were able
• 8:40
Speaker 1: to be involved. Both of them went over one hundred yards,
• 8:42
Speaker 1: but I think de Vinti Smith was a nine tonne.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: AJ was a little more than that. But it's interesting
• 8:47
Speaker 1: how the squeaky wheel gets the greased. The thing that
• 8:51
Speaker 1: I'm worried about though, the eagles and they're bickering and
• 8:55
Speaker 1: they're fighting. Just the little camera called Nick Sirianni trying
• 8:59
Speaker 1: to go over to heard what are we try to
• 9:03
Speaker 1: But then but then Clint, Clint Hurt kind of got
• 9:07
Speaker 1: in the way. It was like, hold on, they'll go
• 9:08
Speaker 1: talk to my guy. I just wonder about Nick Sirani
• 9:12
Speaker 1: because whenever they put these things there, he certainly doesn't
• 9:15
Speaker 1: look like the head coach. He looks more like the figurehead.
• 9:18
Speaker 1: I just don't like the way they kind of portrays
• 9:20
Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni as the ultimate leader of the squad.
• 9:23
  Speaker 2: I see. I think it's their identity.
• 9:25
  Speaker 3: I honestly don't mind it on the edge, it's it's
• 9:28
  Speaker 3: their identity, and it's it's a it's a city. It's
• 9:31
Speaker 3: a city that lives like that, like it's a city
• 9:34
Speaker 3: that is on like it's on eleven at all times
• 9:38
Speaker 3: when you have all this conversation is their dissension and
• 9:41
Speaker 3: as their issues in the locker room, and uh, there's
• 9:43
Speaker 3: a lot of question marks on and I'm always curious
• 9:45
Speaker 3: how those teams are going to get out the gate,
• 9:47
Speaker 3: you know, how are they going to rally around each other?
• 9:49
Speaker 2: What's it going to look like?
• 9:50
Speaker 3: Well, the Eagles had one hundred and forty eight total
• 9:52
Speaker 3: yards and ten points in the first quarter. Those were
• 9:54
Speaker 3: both season highs. It's the first game they've had one
• 9:56
Speaker 3: hundred plus total yards in the first quarter the whole season.
• 10:00
Speaker 3: It's the most total yards in the first court of
• 10:01
Speaker 3: a game by Philly since Week twelve of twenty twenty two.
• 10:05
Speaker 3: So it was kind of like they were chomping at
• 10:07
Speaker 3: the bit and couldn't wait to get out there. It
• 10:10
Speaker 3: almost feels like, you know, Sirianni kind of to me
• 10:13
Speaker 3: and bodies that when you're in the tunnel and the
• 10:16
Speaker 3: guys are trying to get they're trying to fight their
• 10:18
Speaker 3: way to get on the field.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: They want the ready.
• 10:20
Speaker 3: You gotta wait, you gotta wait, hold, you know, hold on,
• 10:22
Speaker 3: just wait a second here, Like Sirianni's like that guy,
• 10:25
Speaker 3: like he just wants to get out there and get
• 10:26
Speaker 3: into it. And it's it's an intensity level that can
• 10:30
Speaker 3: lead to some of those confrontations you've seen on the sideline.
• 10:33
Speaker 3: But I think this particular team responds to it, you know,
• 10:37
Speaker 3: like I like, I'll I'll give you another example here
• 10:39
Speaker 3: Rhett and Buck follow that up too, But uh, like
• 10:43
Speaker 3: Vic Fangio. Vic Fangio is a gruff kind of yell
• 10:48
Speaker 3: at you mean, coach. How did that work in Miami
• 10:51
Speaker 3: with that group of players. They don't want they didn't.
• 10:53
  Speaker 2: Respond to it.
• 10:55
Speaker 3: In Philadelphia, they're kicking tail everywhere and they can't get
• 10:58
Speaker 3: enough of it. So some cultures and environments they they
• 11:02
Speaker 3: thrive off that kind of edginess and conflict. And I
• 11:05
Speaker 3: think Philadelphia, because of the city and the culture there
• 11:08
  Speaker 3: that they've established.
• 11:09
  Speaker 2: For a long time. I think that's that's just who
• 11:11
  Speaker 2: they are.
• 11:13
Speaker 4: That's an interestingly something to that too. Yeah, go ahead, Bud.
• 11:17
  Speaker 6: No no.
• 11:18
Speaker 1: I was just gonna say it's an interesting takeaway, right.
• 11:21
Speaker 4: I think you know.
• 11:25
Speaker 5: You could say that DJ and you like you can
• 11:27
Speaker 5: probably feel pretty good about it. But then you look
• 11:29
Speaker 5: at last year and Obviously that was not a positive
• 11:33
Speaker 5: situation when you had a lot of that drama kind
• 11:36
Speaker 5: of creeping back in. Have they figured out a better
• 11:38
Speaker 5: way to kind of compartmentalize it.
• 11:42
Speaker 4: And use it for good on the field.
• 11:44
Speaker 5: Maybe so, and maybe that's the growth of a team
• 11:46
Speaker 5: year over year, But you know, you do kind of
• 11:50
Speaker 5: wonder if there is a little bit of a boiling
• 11:52
Speaker 5: point at some point, or if this is just the
• 11:55
Speaker 5: way that they're going to be, and if that's it,
• 11:57
Speaker 5: then you know, find ways to kind of squash it
• 12:00
Speaker 5: happens on Sunday, squashing on Monday, move on and see
• 12:03
Speaker 5: what happens the next Sunday.
• 12:04
Speaker 4: Right, what's going to bubble up next Sunday?
• 12:07
  Speaker 2: Go ahead?
• 12:08
Speaker 1: So no, so I want to go on the other
• 12:10
Speaker 1: side because I think some of that kind of bumbed
• 12:12
Speaker 1: up on Pittsburgh by just some of the disappointment from
• 12:15
Speaker 1: UH watching their main players and not be able to
• 12:18
Speaker 1: make the players that were there for them, Najia Harris
• 12:20
Speaker 1: dropping the pitch when it appeared that they were going
• 12:22
Speaker 1: in to score they were in the red zone, pass
• 12:24
Speaker 1: some things, humming, just their inability to make effective tackles
• 12:28
Speaker 1: on the perimeter and those things And what I like
• 12:30
Speaker 1: about what Mike Tomlin talked about is like at the
• 12:32
Speaker 1: end of the game, you just say, hey, this is
• 12:34
Speaker 1: one where like it's a learning lesson in.
• 12:36
Speaker 6: This we got to get better, we got to perform better,
• 12:38
  Speaker 6: we got.
• 12:38
Speaker 1: To tackle better. But you still feel good about where
• 12:40
Speaker 1: the team is. The problem is in the midst of
• 12:43
Speaker 1: a touch stretch where man, you go from one heavyweight
• 12:46
Speaker 1: fight to another heavyweight fight this weekend coming up on
• 12:49
Speaker 1: Saturday when they take on the Baltimore Ravens. Hishord still
• 12:52
Speaker 1: has got to bounce back quickly and we'll see what
• 12:54
Speaker 1: they're made of in terms of how they respond against
• 12:56
  Speaker 1: the Ravens.
• 12:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, well, they're in the tournament, so you know, it's
• 13:01
Speaker 3: gonna be interesting to see how these how they finish
• 13:03
Speaker 3: out the year. You know, Are they like we were
• 13:05
Speaker 3: talking about previously, Are they gonna sprint into the playoffs?
• 13:07
Speaker 3: Are they gonna limp into the playoffs? A lot in
• 13:09
Speaker 3: front of them there, so we'll see what that looks like.
• 13:11
Speaker 3: Let's get one more in here before we take a
• 13:13
Speaker 3: quick break at Green Bay Seattle. I went through that
• 13:18
Speaker 3: video this morning, Buck, and uh, let's just say Seattle
• 13:22
Speaker 3: had issues blocking the green Bay Packers, to say the least.
• 13:25
Speaker 3: I don't know if you I went through the pressures
• 13:28
Speaker 3: Lal Maya, who was starting at guard for Seattle, who's
• 13:32
Speaker 3: kind of kickstarted their run game out of Utah sense.
• 13:34
Speaker 3: He's been putting the lineup. He's done a good job
• 13:36
Speaker 3: in the run game. But man, pass protection is an issue.
• 13:39
Speaker 3: And when you have the dudes that they have with
• 13:41
Speaker 3: DeVante Wyatt, Kenny Clark and company, that is not good
• 13:45
Speaker 3: his h and and look, I'm you know me, I'm
• 13:48
Speaker 3: not one who looks at PFF grades. I look at
• 13:50
Speaker 3: the stats and and sort the video and watch the video.
• 13:54
Speaker 3: But when I was watching the pressure video and I
• 13:56
Speaker 3: scanned to the left and I saw his grade of
• 13:57
Speaker 3: one point six, it did stand out to me as
• 14:00
Speaker 3: as a grade that I had not seen before.
• 14:03
Speaker 2: When it came to an offensive.
• 14:04
Speaker 4: Line, that's on a scale of one hundred. Let's just
• 14:07
  Speaker 4: clarify that.
• 14:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's not I've never seen that before. So uh.
• 14:11
Speaker 3: But they and it wasn't just him. They had issues
• 14:15
Speaker 3: blocking green Bay, and I guess we can look at
• 14:17
Speaker 3: it buck from the green Bay side of things of
• 14:19
Speaker 3: you know, they got some dudes up front. I've been
• 14:21
Speaker 3: touting this Seattle front and how well they've played, and uh,
• 14:24
Speaker 3: and they in this ball game.
• 14:25
Speaker 2: It wasn't close. Green Bay just their front dominated the
• 14:28
  Speaker 2: ball game.
• 14:29
Speaker 1: You know, one of the underrated acquisitions in the offseason
• 14:32
Speaker 1: with Jeff Athlee leaving his head coaching position at Boston
• 14:36
Speaker 1: College to be the decoordinator for the Green Bay Packers.
• 14:39
Speaker 1: And what do you wanted to do was simplify things.
• 14:41
Speaker 1: Wanted them to play aggressive, wanted them to be turnover obsessed.
• 14:45
Speaker 1: And we're seeing that. But a lot of that stems
• 14:47
Speaker 1: from the pass rush and the thing that you have
• 14:50
Speaker 1: to me when I look at the green Bay Packers,
• 14:53
Speaker 1: you have the marriage between the front office and the
• 14:55
Speaker 1: coaching staff. If we're going to draft and develop and
• 14:57
Speaker 1: build through the draft and the players did a coach
• 15:00
Speaker 1: just have to put the players on the field and
• 15:02
Speaker 1: let them do it. We've talked for years about the
• 15:04
Speaker 1: number of first round picks that the Green Bay Packers
• 15:07
Speaker 1: have committed on defense. When now you're seeing that pedigree
• 15:10
Speaker 1: come through because they're in a scheme that allows them
• 15:13
Speaker 1: to really showcase their talent, their athleticism and they.
• 15:16
Speaker 6: Are getting it done.
• 15:17
Speaker 1: And that Sunday night game really was a showcase to
• 15:20
  Speaker 1: how talented.
• 15:20
Speaker 6: The Green Bay Packers are.
• 15:22
Speaker 1: We talked about their offense all the time. Last night
• 15:24
Speaker 1: was an opportunity to really rave about their defense and
• 15:26
Speaker 1: how destructive and dominant they can be.
• 15:30
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I I agree with where you guys
• 15:34
Speaker 5: are coming from. Just watching that game, you know, live,
• 15:36
Speaker 5: you could kind of feel it, right, And look, they
• 15:39
Speaker 5: knocked Gino Smith out of the game. Sam Howell has
• 15:41
Speaker 5: to come in and finish that thing, And I think
• 15:43
Speaker 5: that just that kind of tells you a little bit
• 15:46
Speaker 5: about the physicality of this game. And look the way
• 15:50
Speaker 5: that the Packers have kind of reinforced that from a
• 15:54
Speaker 5: personnel acquisition standpoint. I mean, you look at their drafts
• 15:56
Speaker 5: the last couple of years, right, you know, look at
• 15:59
Speaker 5: the Vonte Wyatt, look at kway Walker, look at Edgrin Cooper.
• 16:03
Speaker 5: You know, it was one of the players of the
• 16:04
Speaker 5: game in this one. So like they have clearly made
• 16:08
Speaker 5: that an emphasis personnel wise, and then feels like they've
• 16:11
Speaker 5: certainly got the fit now with Jeff Hafley running the
• 16:14
Speaker 5: show as their defensive coordinator. The other common theme that
• 16:18
Speaker 5: I found, especially in these first three games that we're
• 16:20
Speaker 5: talking about and actually in the next two that we're
• 16:22
Speaker 5: going to talk about, it definitely rears its head as well.
• 16:25
Speaker 5: And look, game flow obviously dictates some things when it
• 16:29
Speaker 5: comes to your play selection on offense. Like you know,
• 16:32
Speaker 5: when you're looking at the Bills Lions game. Obviously the
• 16:34
Speaker 5: Lions were down in that game. You know, you're trying
• 16:36
Speaker 5: to throw it to keep pace. But that's also something
• 16:38
Speaker 5: that as we were talking about, the Bills forced you
• 16:40
Speaker 5: to do. The Eagles forced you, you know, to come
• 16:42
Speaker 5: out there and try to match them. Same thing with
• 16:44
Speaker 5: the Packers in this game. Just looking at run to
• 16:48
Speaker 5: run pass selection. The Bills on attempts outrushed the Lions
• 16:53
Speaker 5: thirty four to fifteen in this one. Steelers and Eagles
• 16:55
Speaker 5: it was forty one to seventeen. Packers and Seahawks it
• 16:59
Speaker 5: was thirty four to sixteen, where it was just like
• 17:01
Speaker 5: they were committed and then they were getting that that
• 17:04
Speaker 5: kind of tough physical play on the defensive side of
• 17:06
Speaker 5: the ball, and then they were kind of reinforcing it
• 17:08
Speaker 5: on offense down the stretch as they were trying to
• 17:11
Speaker 5: kind of, you know, hold onto those leads in.
• 17:13
Speaker 4: Most of those cases.
• 17:14
Speaker 5: But I just I thought that was just kind of
• 17:16
Speaker 5: interesting to see how those those three big games kind
• 17:18
Speaker 5: of went in terms of offensive play selection.
• 17:22
Speaker 3: Especially as we come down the home stretch. Look, shouldn't
• 17:26
Speaker 3: be a surprise as the weather gets colder, as the
• 17:28
Speaker 3: games get more crucial, those teams that can run the football, Man,
• 17:32
Speaker 3: it makes a big, big difference. And the first half
• 17:40
Speaker 3: was not a cruise for Tampa. It was the first
• 17:44
Speaker 3: half where the Chargers early on were going toe to
• 17:48
Speaker 3: toe with them. But man, in the second half, it
• 17:50
Speaker 3: was a boat race. To say they were cruising in
• 17:53
Speaker 3: the boats, he had tied those thing together. Anyways, this offense,
• 17:58
Speaker 3: and we'll get to the We'll get to the defense
• 18:00
Speaker 3: and the blitzing and how how dominant Vidave is some
• 18:03
Speaker 3: of the other pieces there. But I want to stay
• 18:05
Speaker 3: on Tampa before we get to the Chargers.
• 18:07
  Speaker 2: Uh buck.
• 18:07
Speaker 3: When I when I saw this offense live and in person,
• 18:11
Speaker 3: they have some elements that that you don't appreciate till
• 18:14
Speaker 3: you see it. First of all, Mike Evans, just give
• 18:17
Speaker 3: him the gold jacket already.
• 18:18
Speaker 2: I mean, like he is.
• 18:19
Speaker 3: He's the best physical wide receiver in the NFL and
• 18:23
Speaker 3: probably has been for his you know, his entire playing career.
• 18:26
Speaker 3: He is so big, and he is so physical the
• 18:30
Speaker 3: Chargers had no answer for him.
• 18:31
  Speaker 2: We start there.
• 18:32
Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield is very confident and comfortable in this offense.
• 18:35
Speaker 3: This offensive line can move you in the run game.
• 18:38
Speaker 3: Tristan Wurs is an absolute monster. The tight ends, i
• 18:42
Speaker 3: think are the most underrated tight end group I've seen
• 18:44
Speaker 3: this year. From what like you watch him on tape
• 18:46
Speaker 3: and you see him in person with Otten in company.
• 18:49
Speaker 3: They they are excellent blockers.
• 18:51
Speaker 2: Yes, there you go.
• 18:53
Speaker 3: They they are physical, they're blockers, they can run after
• 18:56
Speaker 3: the catch. They're complete tight ends, and they they're creative
• 19:00
Speaker 3: with how Liam Cohen designs this offense and then they
• 19:02
Speaker 3: can hammer, hammer away, be physical. And in the second half,
• 19:05
Speaker 3: as you guys were referencing Rhett you were bringing up
• 19:07
Speaker 3: about the rushing attempts for these teams, all of a sudden.
• 19:11
Speaker 2: Those body blows. Oh it was over. It was really
• 19:13
Speaker 2: I think the Chargers had what fourteen or something.
• 19:15
Speaker 3: Uh it was eleven, thirty nine, eleven eleven, Yeah, yeah,
• 19:19
Speaker 3: thirty nine to eleven.
• 19:20
  Speaker 2: There you go.
• 19:20
  Speaker 3: It's uh, it's just a it was a second half
• 19:24
Speaker 3: where they did whatever they wanted to do and they.
• 19:26
Speaker 2: Were explosives everywhere in the run game the past game.
• 19:30
Speaker 3: I just I came away from that going I've been
• 19:32
Speaker 3: thinking that Tampa is kind of a little bit of
• 19:34
Speaker 3: a fringe team. In the playoffs, we focused on those big,
• 19:36
Speaker 3: those name brands. You know what's going to happen with Detroit?
• 19:39
  Speaker 2: Uh?
• 19:39
Speaker 3: You know specifically that the Detroit the Eagles. I'm like, man,
• 19:42
Speaker 3: I'm seeing that up close and personal. I don't know
• 19:45
Speaker 3: that Wo'd be too excited Buck if I saw Tampa
• 19:47
Speaker 3: in the playoffs the way they look right now.
• 19:50
Speaker 6: Oh yeah. To think about Tampa, they changed right after
• 19:52
  Speaker 6: the Baibwek.
• 19:53
Speaker 1: The last four games since to buy, They've had over
• 19:55
Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty rushing yards in each of those performances.
• 19:58
Speaker 1: As much as we talk about Baker Mayfield and Mike
• 20:01
Speaker 1: Evans and how this team was previously constructed with Chris Godwin,
• 20:04
Speaker 1: they were more of a throwing team, they have embraced
• 20:06
Speaker 1: really the physical element of their personnel. They are a
• 20:09
Speaker 1: team that can grind it out. You saw them get dirty.
• 20:12
Speaker 1: They can produce explosive plays on the ground, and then
• 20:15
Speaker 1: when you have Mike Evans on the outside, you always
• 20:17
Speaker 1: have the ability to produce that explosive chunk.
• 20:20
Speaker 6: Play through the air.
• 20:22
Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield talked after the game about how we had
• 20:24
Speaker 1: to flip the script on the charge we had to
• 20:27
  Speaker 1: out physical.
• 20:28
Speaker 6: Them because that's their calling card.
• 20:30
Speaker 1: Well, if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fully embrace that, if
• 20:33
Speaker 1: that's who they are, that becomes their identity, they're going
• 20:36
Speaker 1: to be a team that really lives in the bully
• 20:38
Speaker 1: ball world. Man, good luck dealing with them because their physicality,
• 20:42
Speaker 1: their toughness, and their ability to produce explosive plays on
• 20:46
Speaker 1: the ground and through the air A lot to deal
• 20:48
Speaker 1: with when you're getting ready for them in a single
• 20:50
  Speaker 1: elimation tournament.
• 20:53
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 20:54
Speaker 5: And I think we've talked about this a couple of
• 20:56
Speaker 5: times and you obviously got to see it now, you know,
• 20:58
Speaker 5: in person, DJ, but the again and you look at
• 21:00
Speaker 5: commitment to draft resources up front on the defensive side
• 21:03
Speaker 5: of the ball, paying off right Vidavea, Elijah Knzi, Logan
• 21:07
Speaker 5: Hall yah Ya Dabi. Those are big, physically framed dude. Yep, yep, definitely.
• 21:17
Speaker 5: And and so you know, I think it's like, all right,
• 21:19
Speaker 5: who do you want to be? Where do you feel
• 21:23
Speaker 5: like we're best in terms of, you know, the type
• 21:25
Speaker 5: of player we need on that side of the ball,
• 21:27
Speaker 5: and they've had some continuity on that side of the
• 21:29
Speaker 5: ball in terms of scheme for the last few years,
• 21:31
Speaker 5: you know, as well with Todd Bowles, even going back
• 21:33
Speaker 5: you know obviously to Bruce Arians. So it just feels
• 21:37
Speaker 5: like they've got a nice marriage between you know, understanding
• 21:40
Speaker 5: what the scheme needs, and then you know Jason Light
• 21:43
Speaker 5: and his staff and and that whole crew going out
• 21:45
Speaker 5: there and executing that and finding some you know, some
• 21:48
Speaker 5: real fits and some real productive players. And obviously Vida
• 21:53
Speaker 5: Vea certainly starts starts that conversation DJ up front.
• 21:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a freak, and and get ready for that
• 22:00
Speaker 3: game and studying it. I mean, it's it's some stuff
• 22:04
Speaker 3: that nobody else does. I mean, we use the unicorn
• 22:06
Speaker 3: word probably too much, but there is nobody like him
• 22:09
Speaker 3: that has his combination of size, power, quickness, and he
• 22:12
Speaker 3: wrecked Bradley Boseman in this game. He just gets constant
• 22:16
Speaker 3: pocket pushed, which is a nightmare. You got to try
• 22:19
Speaker 3: and run away from him when you're running the football.
• 22:22
Speaker 3: You mentioned all those other guys, Kllijah Kanty's a really
• 22:24
  Speaker 3: really good player.
• 22:25
Speaker 2: They have a good.
• 22:26
  Speaker 3: Front man, and that's a it's a it's a team
• 22:29
Speaker 3: that's thoughtfully constructed by Jason light It's impressive.
• 22:33
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 22:33
Speaker 3: To me, it was the biggest difference between what I saw,
• 22:36
Speaker 3: like what I thought I was going to get, and
• 22:38
Speaker 3: then sometimes you come out there and say, oh that
• 22:40
Speaker 3: that maybe the charges didn't play well.
• 22:42
Speaker 2: I mean, but the charges have been in every game
• 22:43
Speaker 2: this whole year. They haven't been They've been treated like
• 22:45
Speaker 2: this by anybody. This team came in here and physically
• 22:48
Speaker 2: whooped them in every single way possible. It was not
• 22:51
  Speaker 2: I mean, I wasn't. It was impressive.
• 22:53
  Speaker 1: Threat.
• 22:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, So I was just kind of going back to it.
• 22:57
Speaker 5: I was like, do you remember since you brought up,
• 22:59
Speaker 5: you know, Mike Evans and the gold tag, do you
• 23:01
Speaker 5: remember the draft conversation around Mike Evans when he was
• 23:04
Speaker 5: coming out of a and m I felt like it
• 23:07
Speaker 5: was like, man, big physical, you know, specimens probably a
• 23:10
Speaker 5: little that was it?
• 23:11
Speaker 4: Little? Yeah, yeah, a little bushes speed, but.
• 23:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, straight line, a little tight.
• 23:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, what are we talking about? Yard seasons?
• 23:20
Speaker 2: What was his draft year?
• 23:23
  Speaker 4: Twenty fourteen?
• 23:24
  Speaker 1: Yeah?
• 23:25
Speaker 2: Ten years man, I'll uh still do I know, I
• 23:28
  Speaker 2: I know, I uh. I think that.
• 23:30
Speaker 4: Gots a seventh overall pick updated.
• 23:32
Speaker 2: NF NFL dot Com. My old reports got got pulled,
• 23:35
  Speaker 2: so I can. I'll find. I'll tell you what. I'll
• 23:38
Speaker 2: tease that, I'll find.
• 23:39
Speaker 5: It's just kind of curious next you know, just see
• 23:42
Speaker 5: what that looked like, you know, considering how productive he's been.
• 23:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, and that was a draft. That was a Sammy
• 23:47
Speaker 3: Watkins draft. You know, so Mike Evans was a seventh
• 23:51
Speaker 3: player in that draft. I think he was where he
• 23:53
Speaker 3: went well for thirty pick or a seventh pick.
• 23:55
  Speaker 2: There you go.
• 23:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, hindsight, hindsight it was too high in Greg Robinson.
• 24:01
Speaker 3: But we'll leave that discussion for another day.
• 24:03
Speaker 1: Hey, hey, you never know what makes them tick. You
• 24:07
Speaker 1: never know what makes it.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, missing a little something there, but no, he was.
• 24:11
Speaker 3: He was impressive. The other thing, Buck, I think sometimes
• 24:14
Speaker 3: with running backs not being there, we don't appreciate some
• 24:18
Speaker 3: of the other aspects of it.
• 24:20
  Speaker 2: JK.
• 24:20
Speaker 3: Dobbins, you know, this run game has not been the
• 24:22
Speaker 3: same since he's been out. And the other thing that
• 24:25
Speaker 3: is way underrated. He is one of the best pass
• 24:28
Speaker 3: protecting backs in the NFL. And with the way the
• 24:31
Speaker 3: Bucks blitzed and they blitzed the Chargers, that's the I
• 24:34
Speaker 3: believe the second most time that Herbert's been blitzing his
• 24:38
Speaker 3: entire career. It was over sixty percent, sixty three percent
• 24:41
Speaker 3: or something like that that he was blitzing this ballgame. Well,
• 24:44
Speaker 3: that's Todd Bowles being smart. You don't have your you
• 24:47
Speaker 3: don't have your starting running back in there. You've got
• 24:49
Speaker 3: a rookie and Kamani Vadell and I've got one of
• 24:51
Speaker 3: the best off the ballitz blitzing linebackers in NFL history,
• 24:55
Speaker 3: and Levante David have fun with that and that was
• 24:59
Speaker 3: a major problem. So I think some of these issues
• 25:01
Speaker 3: with the Chargers can get corrected a little bit with
• 25:04
Speaker 3: some health provided JK can get back before the end
• 25:06
  Speaker 3: of the year.
• 25:07
Speaker 2: But that's a big hole, man.
• 25:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, it is a big hole to go back to
• 25:11
Speaker 1: anything with Ty Bowles.
• 25:12
  Speaker 6: I don't think.
• 25:13
Speaker 1: He's seen the list that he's never liked. I mean,
• 25:15
Speaker 1: he doubts up pressure and one thing that you have
• 25:17
Speaker 1: to know when they're back in the corner, they're bringing
• 25:19
Speaker 1: pressure all around. And the crazy thing about the Tampa
• 25:22
Speaker 1: Bay Buccaneers, DJ, we could talk about it like if
• 25:24
Speaker 1: we're Marck drafting and doing whatever we were saying, you
• 25:26
Speaker 1: know what, tamp needs some corners. It's like he doesn't
• 25:29
Speaker 1: care what he has on the perimeter. He is going
• 25:31
Speaker 1: to downard up. He's gonna bring pressure, he's gonna bring heat,
• 25:34
Speaker 1: and he's gonna dare your quarterback to be able to
• 25:36
Speaker 1: find the open man. Yeah, the Temp Bay Buccaneers are problematic,
• 25:39
Speaker 1: but I'll say this, I'm not worried about the Chargers.
• 25:41
Speaker 1: I think sometimes you kind of have to have one
• 25:44
Speaker 1: of those beat downs that kind of have to wake
• 25:47
Speaker 1: up call. Jim Harbaugh talked about this is the adversity.
• 25:50
Speaker 1: We got to work out way through it. They'll work
• 25:52
Speaker 1: their way through it, and I think.
• 25:53
Speaker 6: They'll be better because of it because we will make.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: Them better prepared for the postseason. And they've gone through
• 25:57
Speaker 1: something like that against tamp Bay.
• 25:58
Speaker 4: Buccaneers lost four in a row. Now one four in
• 26:01
  Speaker 4: a row.
• 26:02
Speaker 3: Pretty good turnaround Tampa, Yeah, no question, And look at
• 26:05
Speaker 3: the wins. Tampa has on their ledger to look at
• 26:07
Speaker 3: the teams they've beaten. They've they've amassed some quality wins
• 26:11
Speaker 3: on there being some good ball clubs's yeah, not too bad. Yeah,
• 26:17
Speaker 3: Detroit fill to the top two teams in the NFC.
• 26:19
Speaker 3: Let's keep it moving here to uh I guess we
• 26:22
Speaker 3: can call them rets Denver Broncos with bow knicks, starting
• 26:25
Speaker 3: off a little slow in this thing, but picking it up,
• 26:28
Speaker 3: getting going. But to me, this is this is about
• 26:30
Speaker 3: that defense as much as it is about their offense, right.
• 26:34
Speaker 5: Man, that was obviously they were. They were aided by
• 26:39
Speaker 5: uh Ad Ni Mitchell throwing a pass in this game,
• 26:42
Speaker 5: which I don't know that that's gonna stick in the
• 26:45
Speaker 5: in the playbook, but Nick Benito sure was happy to
• 26:48
Speaker 5: take that the distance.
• 26:49
  Speaker 4: Man.
• 26:50
Speaker 5: The turnovers were just insane this week. I felt like,
• 26:53
Speaker 5: and this was one of those games. Broncos forced five
• 26:56
Speaker 5: turnovers here and moved to nine and five, and.
• 26:59
Speaker 4: Look they turned ball over a bunch of themselves.
• 27:01
Speaker 5: I mean, bo Nicks, you know, had three turnovers, two
• 27:03
Speaker 5: of them in the second half. But he stayed clean
• 27:05
Speaker 5: to the fourth quarter when they were making that run.
• 27:07
Speaker 5: And this this thing really to me came back to,
• 27:09
Speaker 5: you know, the momentum shift by taking seven points off
• 27:12
Speaker 5: the board with Jonathan Taylor letting the ball go for
• 27:14
  Speaker 5: the goal line.
• 27:15
Speaker 4: They scored twenty four unanswered.
• 27:17
Speaker 5: The Broncos did after that, I just you know, like
• 27:20
Speaker 5: this this play here, great run by Taylor and just
• 27:23
Speaker 5: kind of lose his focus right at the end, and
• 27:25
Speaker 5: I just don't understand that wasn't the only time it
• 27:27
Speaker 5: happened this week either. But I did want to go
• 27:30
Speaker 5: back to some of the quotes that Sean Payton had
• 27:33
Speaker 5: about bo Nicks, because this was obviously not the peace
• 27:36
Speaker 5: the resistance for his rookie season and his offensive Rookie
• 27:40
Speaker 5: of the Year campaign, which we've been touting on this
• 27:42
Speaker 5: show quite a bit. I think when you look at that,
• 27:45
Speaker 5: I thought it was kind of cool. Sean Payton was like, yeah, look,
• 27:47
Speaker 5: it's not all on bow. I made some dumb calls
• 27:50
Speaker 5: in this game, and I'll fix that and I'll be better.
• 27:51
Speaker 5: I'll put him in a better position to succeed there.
• 27:55
Speaker 5: And I think then he also, you know, mentioned let
• 27:58
Speaker 5: me get the exact quote here. I think he was
• 28:03
Speaker 5: talking about the moxie and the poise that b Nicks had,
• 28:07
Speaker 5: and I remember, you know, just a couple of weeks
• 28:09
Speaker 5: ago when the Broncos kind of began this run. You know,
• 28:12
Speaker 5: I was talking about folks that I talked to there
• 28:14
Speaker 5: in Denver and just talking about the maturity that bo
• 28:17
Speaker 5: Nicks had, like when things, you know, are hitting a
• 28:20
Speaker 5: fan and things aren't going well, he's the same dude, right,
• 28:23
Speaker 5: So you can always look to the quarterback, even as
• 28:26
Speaker 5: a rookie, to kind of reset and settle down, because
• 28:30
Speaker 5: you know that he's got the right temperament to handle things,
• 28:33
Speaker 5: not just when they're going well, but when they're going poorly,
• 28:35
Speaker 5: even when he's performing poorly. So I just think for
• 28:38
Speaker 5: a rookie, and again we come back to the experience factor,
• 28:42
Speaker 5: the guy's seeing a bunch of football already, right and
• 28:44
Speaker 5: is prepared for moments like these, as tough as they
• 28:47
  Speaker 5: might be.
• 28:47
Speaker 4: And I think you know, Sean Payton.
• 28:50
Speaker 5: Has as a real high degree of appreciation for that
• 28:52
Speaker 5: part of Bonnix's game.
• 28:54
Speaker 1: Buck. Yeah, And there's so.
• 28:57
Speaker 6: Many things to talk about.
• 28:58
Speaker 1: One I'm just trying to figure out, like how many
• 29:00
Speaker 1: more highlights or low lights do we have to see
• 29:03
Speaker 1: if guys dropping the ball before they get me into
• 29:06
Speaker 1: I don't understand the fascination with it.
• 29:08
  Speaker 6: I don't.
• 29:08
Speaker 1: Maybe red Nose like, maybe that was cool. Donal Louis don't.
• 29:12
  Speaker 6: Know about it. I don't. I don't, I don't, I don't.
• 29:15
  Speaker 1: I don't understand it.
• 29:16
  Speaker 6: But man, that.
• 29:18
Speaker 1: And the league for the Indianapolis Colts and for the
• 29:22
Speaker 1: Annapolis Colts, like I want to say, they waste their
• 29:24
Speaker 1: performance where they were clearly in control of the game
• 29:27
Speaker 1: and they couldn't get it back. And there are people
• 29:30
Speaker 1: that are upset in Indianapolis about Shane Styke and and
• 29:33
Speaker 1: and Chris Ballad and all those things. But to me,
• 29:36
Speaker 1: this team is good enough to be a playoff team.
• 29:38
Speaker 1: But for whatever reason, man, they have hit the bumps
• 29:43
Speaker 1: along the way. That's probably gonna keep them out of
• 29:45
Speaker 1: the tournament unless some drastic happens for them over the
• 29:47
  Speaker 1: next four weeks.
• 29:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, it appears to be on the outside looking in
• 29:52
Speaker 3: at this point in time. Another team that's going to
• 29:54
Speaker 3: be on that that's outside looking in more than like
• 29:55
Speaker 3: he's Miami after they go to Houston and lose the
• 29:58
Speaker 3: ball game there against the te I want to start
• 30:02
Speaker 3: us off on this game and RTT take it from
• 30:05
Speaker 3: the focus on Stroud and Stroud's not playing as well
• 30:08
Speaker 3: as he did last year. He's turned the ball over more.
• 30:10
Speaker 3: I broke that down on TV yesterday. Just some of
• 30:13
Speaker 3: the things you see and some of us just look,
• 30:16
Speaker 3: he's young player. He's just going to keep learning and growing.
• 30:18
Speaker 3: And you go through a little thing like this I'm
• 30:20
Speaker 3: not concerned about that, but I think in all the
• 30:21
Speaker 3: discussion about Stroud, we forgot about the guy who was
• 30:23
Speaker 3: picked right behind him, who was his teammate on the
• 30:26
Speaker 3: defensive side of the ball, who's taking his game to
• 30:29
Speaker 3: another level in Will Anderson and what he's done this year.
• 30:32
Speaker 3: I think he's in double digit sacks now, but he
• 30:35
Speaker 3: shows up every week when you watch him on there,
• 30:37
Speaker 3: he's he is every bit as advertised. It doesn't seem
• 30:40
Speaker 3: that long ago where there was the discussion about is
• 30:41
Speaker 3: it going to be Tyree Wilson or is it going
• 30:43
Speaker 3: to be Will Anderson?
• 30:45
Speaker 2: Think about how these.
• 30:47
Speaker 3: Little discussions buck buck, These little decisions that we sit
• 30:51
Speaker 3: in draft rooms and debate, they have a long consequence. Now,
• 30:54
Speaker 3: when you got to pick all the way up there
• 30:55
Speaker 3: and you get the right one, it makes a big difference.
• 30:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes a big difference than to think about
• 31:01
Speaker 1: the Will Anderson conversation. What should have been easy is
• 31:04
Speaker 1: one the football character was outstanding. When we talked about
• 31:07
Speaker 1: the work ethic, the leadership, what he displayed at Alabama,
• 31:10
Speaker 1: you didn't look at the production. What is not to
• 31:12
Speaker 1: like about what he displayed during his time with the
• 31:15
Speaker 1: Crimson Tie but then back to back years, this dude
• 31:17
Speaker 1: has been phenomenal and he really continues to challenge himself
• 31:21
Speaker 1: to take it up a notch. And even though offensively
• 31:24
Speaker 1: the Texans haven't been what we thought they would be,
• 31:26
Speaker 1: defensively every bit as good as some of the top
• 31:29
Speaker 1: teams in the league. To me, it's about them just
• 31:32
Speaker 1: being on the same page because when they're locked in
• 31:34
Speaker 1: on defense, Dimico ryans Man has a unit that can
• 31:38
Speaker 1: pitch shut out and that is really going to be
• 31:41
Speaker 1: key because as we think about the postseason and who
• 31:44
Speaker 1: they may be lined up against him, how it may
• 31:46
Speaker 1: play out matchups of everything, this defense gives them a
• 31:49
Speaker 1: chance to win. And if CJ. Stroud can just find
• 31:52
Speaker 1: some of what he displayed last year, yeah, this team
• 31:55
Speaker 1: can be a tough out.
• 31:58
  Speaker 4: Boy.
• 31:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, there were there were definitely some Dolphins offensive lineman
• 32:02
Speaker 5: who took some l's in this game. I mean it
• 32:05
Speaker 5: was I mean, there's just no way around it. I mean,
• 32:08
Speaker 5: like that group up front for the Texans just absolutely
• 32:12
Speaker 5: gets after it. I Mean, Daniel Hunter was one of
• 32:14
Speaker 5: the best free agent acquisitions of the offseason, and then
• 32:17
Speaker 5: obviously Will Anderson just continuing to ascend, and we kind
• 32:22
Speaker 5: of I mean, like it was, what was it the
• 32:26
Speaker 5: year before that Will Anderson was drafted, we were talking
• 32:28
Speaker 5: about him being the number one overall pick.
• 32:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, right, because he was that dang good.
• 32:31
Speaker 5: And then you know we kind of had the that
• 32:34
Speaker 5: first overall pick fatigue a little bit. You kind of
• 32:36
Speaker 5: got like bored with Will Anderson just being really dang good,
• 32:39
Speaker 5: and we're like, oh, maybe he shouldn't be the first
• 32:41
Speaker 5: ed rusher off the board. Right, Well, let's remind ourselves
• 32:44
Speaker 5: to not get bored with really good players, because that
• 32:47
Speaker 5: was I mean, obviously the Texans didn't end up taking
• 32:49
Speaker 5: him there at three, but when you look at what
• 32:51
Speaker 5: he's doing in tandem with Daniel Hunter, and then you
• 32:54
Speaker 5: know some of the stuff that they're getting from their
• 32:56
Speaker 5: interior guys as well, like Tim Settle, Like how many
• 32:59
Speaker 5: people thought that Tim Settle was going to be as
• 33:01
Speaker 5: big of an acquisition as he's been. Tommy toky I
• 33:05
Speaker 5: from Ohio State's getting in there and rotating in, you know,
• 33:08
Speaker 5: on the interior along with Fullo Fatacasi. So like there
• 33:12
Speaker 5: they have found you know, kind of similarly to what
• 33:14
Speaker 5: we're talking about with the Bucks in the way that
• 33:17
Speaker 5: they've found the pieces that fit. I mean, the Texans
• 33:19
Speaker 5: upfront have certainly found the pieces that fit with Demko
• 33:22
Speaker 5: Ryans wants to do on defense.
• 33:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been it's been fun to watch this whole
• 33:26
Speaker 3: group come together. Stingley was another one who might have
• 33:28
Speaker 3: a little fatigue with prospect fatigue.
• 33:30
Speaker 4: That's right with what he was.
• 33:32
Speaker 2: He got a couple of picks in that ballgame.
• 33:33
  Speaker 4: Uh Buck.
• 33:34
  Speaker 2: Kansas City Cleveland.
• 33:37
Speaker 3: I'll give you kind of the cliff notes here with
• 33:40
Speaker 3: you know, Kansas City having the offensive line issues, Joe
• 33:42
Speaker 3: Tooney kicks out to left tackle Miles Garrett, still had
• 33:46
Speaker 3: double digit pressures. They still battered Ma Holmes. They you know,
• 33:50
Speaker 3: Cleveland couldn't do anything offensively. They turned the ball over
• 33:52
Speaker 3: rezillion times. Kansas City's defense generated those turnovers. Give them
• 33:55
Speaker 3: credit for that. They they have been very consistent for
• 33:58
Speaker 3: whatever the offense issues have been throughout the year, the
• 34:00
Speaker 3: defense has been there every week. But my point, I'll
• 34:03
Speaker 3: get to you it looks like Mahomes mild high ankle
• 34:06
Speaker 3: sprain kind of day to day week to week. You know,
• 34:09
  Speaker 3: they've got a couple of games. They've got a Saturday
• 34:11
Speaker 3: game followed by a Christmas game on Wednesday, so they've
• 34:14
Speaker 3: got kind of two quick ones coming up here, but
• 34:16
Speaker 3: I don't know that they can afford to. You know,
• 34:19
Speaker 3: if he's able to get out there, it's tough to
• 34:21
Speaker 3: seen him because you're gonna lose home field the Buffalo
• 34:23
Speaker 3: if you do. So they've got some decisions to make
• 34:27
Speaker 3: there with Mahomes. But the point I'm getting at is
• 34:30
Speaker 3: this shouldn't be surprising the way Mahomes has been getting
• 34:33
Speaker 3: hit behind this offensive line, that this is the risk
• 34:37
Speaker 3: that comes along with that.
• 34:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, it is the risk. They have been able to
• 34:41
Speaker 1: like sufficiently protect them. And it was only amount of
• 34:43
Speaker 1: time before he got banged around and I won't even
• 34:46
Speaker 1: stay knocked out, but before he got banged around and
• 34:49
Speaker 1: had an injury that potentially get thread in his availability
• 34:53
Speaker 1: down the stretch in the various season.
• 34:55
Speaker 6: He's what we do know.
• 34:56
Speaker 1: We'll talk about it like, oh, he's questionable, he may
• 34:58
Speaker 1: not play. He's gonna play number fifteen if he takes
• 35:01
  Speaker 1: the ball.
• 35:01
Speaker 6: Whenever he's able to do it. He would have went
• 35:03
Speaker 6: back in the game if he had.
• 35:04
  Speaker 1: To on Sunday.
• 35:06
Speaker 6: But this is what he does.
• 35:09
Speaker 1: The thing that you got to do. I know that
• 35:10
Speaker 1: you're playing musical chair it's not ideal this late in
• 35:12
Speaker 1: the season to be shuffling the deck when it comes
• 35:15
Speaker 1: to the offensive line, Andy Reid and that step. They
• 35:18
Speaker 1: got to come up with answers. Who are the best
• 35:20
Speaker 1: route they're going to put out there out there to
• 35:22
Speaker 1: protect number fifteen. They need to figure that out quickly,
• 35:25
Speaker 1: because I don't think you can keep playing musical chairs
• 35:27
Speaker 1: as you're going to determine.
• 35:31
Speaker 5: It does feel like it's the ankle injuries. I mean,
• 35:34
Speaker 5: just continue to mount from our homes and you do
• 35:37
Speaker 5: kind of want to yeah, all right, mild high ankle. Yeah,
• 35:39
Speaker 5: but like, is there a is there a like a
• 35:42
Speaker 5: recurring effect here that kind of limits, you know, just
• 35:45
Speaker 5: how much better you can get in the framework a
• 35:48
Speaker 5: couple of week to week rehabit recovery situation. I'm like you, Bucky,
• 35:51
Speaker 5: I have no doubt that he'll be out there, but
• 35:55
Speaker 5: you do start to wonder, like, you know, how much
• 35:58
Speaker 5: how much can you expect of him when you have
• 36:02
Speaker 5: needed all of him and more in an unusual year.
• 36:06
Speaker 5: Well maybe it's not unusual, but in a year in
• 36:08
Speaker 5: which they have been less than you know, what we
• 36:11
Speaker 5: typically expect from the Chiefs on offense. So I don't
• 36:15
Speaker 5: know on this one. I know, you know, Carson Wentz
• 36:17
Speaker 5: will prove to be valuable if he's got to go.
• 36:20
Speaker 5: Obviously came in and finished that game off. But I'm
• 36:23
Speaker 5: not going to doubt Mahomes. I'm I'm just going to
• 36:27
Speaker 5: be intrigued to see how it all works out, considering
• 36:30
Speaker 5: how mobile he has had to be behind that offensive
• 36:33
Speaker 5: line and how much that will continue with that group
• 36:37
Speaker 5: being you know, a.
• 36:39
  Speaker 4: Little bit patchwork.
• 36:39
Speaker 5: And I would imagine Joe Toney after going up against
• 36:42
Speaker 5: Miles Garrett a couple of times, and this one, you know,
• 36:45
Speaker 5: is probably going to be very comfortable moving back to guard.
• 36:47
Speaker 4: Whenever that time comes.
• 36:50
Speaker 3: You think, all right, we're gonna go rapid fire here
• 36:58
Speaker 3: through these last few games.
• 37:00
Speaker 2: Rhett Washington, New Orleans.
• 37:02
  Speaker 5: Uh.
• 37:03
Speaker 3: One of those games that look kind of bad and ugly,
• 37:04
Speaker 3: all of a sudden you end up you look up
• 37:06
Speaker 3: at the end of the game like, holy croud, this
• 37:07
Speaker 3: ended up being a good game.
• 37:09
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 37:09
Speaker 5: I mean, look, I think you credit Darren Rizzy. I mean,
• 37:11
Speaker 5: the Saints are playing hard, and they're they're playing hard
• 37:14
Speaker 5: down to stretch in a season that that likely has
• 37:16
Speaker 5: no postseason birth on the on the back end, of it,
• 37:19
Speaker 5: and you know, I think that's say something about how
• 37:22
Speaker 5: they respect him. I will say that they certainly got
• 37:25
Speaker 5: a boost at the end. The clock mistakenly stopped at
• 37:30
Speaker 5: the end, allowing them the extra time to get down
• 37:33
Speaker 5: their spike it and get that potential that touchdown that
• 37:36
Speaker 5: would have allowed a tying extra point or a potential
• 37:39
Speaker 5: go ahead two point conversion.
• 37:40
Speaker 4: They opted for the two and didn't get it.
• 37:43
Speaker 5: I was just very happy to see, uh, the old
• 37:46
Speaker 5: fantasy stack of Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin showing up
• 37:49
Speaker 5: for me in the fantasy postseason tween two?
• 37:54
Speaker 2: Is that enough to get you the win?
• 37:55
  Speaker 1: Though?
• 37:56
  Speaker 4: Oh it is.
• 37:56
Speaker 5: You better believe it. Yeah, you better believe I'm not
• 37:59
Speaker 5: just I'm winning next competition.
• 38:01
Speaker 3: Nicks Bo Nicks had three touchdowns for me on my
• 38:05
Speaker 3: on my fantasy I had mccacke. That's fine. They still
• 38:08
Speaker 3: scored a bunch of points. McConkie got in the end zone,
• 38:11
Speaker 3: had a had a you know, solid day there.
• 38:13
Speaker 2: Who was my BTJ BTJ block?
• 38:16
Speaker 4: What did betj? M'd have been a good one for you.
• 38:18
Speaker 4: I'd have been a good one for you.
• 38:20
Speaker 1: He had a monster game. He had over a hundred yards.
• 38:22
Speaker 6: He was doing his thing.
• 38:23
Speaker 3: That don't count that roocky fantasy win just yet, all right,
• 38:30
Speaker 3: buck Cincinnati Tennessee. Uh, Tennessee, no boy, no for them
• 38:35
Speaker 3: as they uh bench Will Levis in that one. But Cincinnati,
• 38:39
Speaker 3: Joe Burrow, they're they're uh, they're putting up some points. Man,
• 38:41
Speaker 3: They're not dead yet.
• 38:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, they're end enough points. But Joe Burrow is frustrated.
• 38:46
Speaker 1: Everyone knows the competitor that he is, the fact that
• 38:48
Speaker 1: they having to put up all these points in defensively,
• 38:50
Speaker 1: they're still having problems even the score down on their end,
• 38:54
Speaker 1: particularly against a team like Tennessee that were struggling with
• 38:57
Speaker 1: Will Levis. Joe burrows frustration continues to get the best
• 39:01
Speaker 1: thing we saw in the interaction that he had with
• 39:03
Speaker 1: Jack Taylor. Despite having the firefighter and the weapons that
• 39:06
Speaker 1: they have offensive with Jamar Chase t. Higgins, guys that
• 39:09
Speaker 1: can get down, guys that can spit out those hunt
• 39:11
Speaker 1: of yard games like the ATM machine, they don't have
• 39:14
Speaker 1: enough to win and to be a playoff participant because
• 39:17
Speaker 1: their defense is lagging way behind. I understand the frustration
• 39:21
Speaker 1: that Joe Burrow has because this might have cost him
• 39:24
Speaker 1: an MVP run because the numbers are certainly MVP caliber
• 39:27
  Speaker 1: from Joe.
• 39:28
Speaker 3: B Yeah, speaking of MVP, I think Joe Burrow belongs
• 39:32
Speaker 3: in that conversation with Josh Allen with this guy right
• 39:35
Speaker 3: here in Lamar Jackson who just continues to put up
• 39:39
Speaker 3: big numbers. Five touchdowns for or fewer incompletions for the
• 39:44
Speaker 3: third time in his career. So that's most NFL history
• 39:47
Speaker 3: if you're wondering. That's a good saucy nug for you.
• 39:49
Speaker 3: The Ravens nine and five, and all of a sudden,
• 39:51
Speaker 3: now you've got the Ravens and the Steelers in a
• 39:53
Speaker 3: little bit of a dog fight here for this division
• 39:56
Speaker 3: there in the AFC North, the Giants two and twelve.
• 40:00
Speaker 3: Their quarterback for twenty five is not on their roster. Now,
• 40:04
Speaker 3: it's just a matter of can they show a little
• 40:06
Speaker 3: bit of life to show that you've got some competitive fight.
• 40:09
Speaker 3: But then let's also not won a ball game and
• 40:11
Speaker 3: jeopardize our draft stock. So that's that's the challenge there
• 40:15
Speaker 3: for the New York Giants. But look up, and all
• 40:16
Speaker 3: of a sudden, the Baltimore Ravens are starting to hit
• 40:18
Speaker 3: their stride a little bit, and they are built for
• 40:22
Speaker 3: this time of the year, and Lamar Jackson is playing
• 40:24
Speaker 3: at a very, very high level. And we've got a
• 40:26
Speaker 3: two for tonight here, Buck, starting with Chicago and Minnesota.
• 40:30
Speaker 3: What are you looking forward to in this one?
• 40:32
Speaker 1: Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the Minnesota Vikings and
• 40:34
Speaker 1: if Sam Donald can continue to do the wonderful stuff
• 40:37
Speaker 1: to he've done under the direction.
• 40:38
  Speaker 6: Of Kevin O'Connell.
• 40:40
Speaker 1: Dam Jonah has been outstanding this season.
• 40:42
Speaker 6: For the Minnesota Vikings to the.
• 40:43
Speaker 1: Point where you're like, well, maybe they should keep him.
• 40:45
Speaker 1: I know JJ McCarthy's ready at waiting, but let's see
• 40:49
Speaker 1: if we can keep this thing going. When I look
• 40:50
Speaker 1: at Jordan Adathson and Justin Jefferson, TJ. Hockinson returning to
• 40:53
Speaker 1: form Aaron Jones behind him, there are a lot of
• 40:56
Speaker 1: things that are really working for the Vikings, but Sam
• 40:59
Speaker 1: Donald is the x act for this team.
• 41:00
Speaker 6: As they get down the.
• 41:01
Speaker 1: Stretch, they're angling an inching close in towards toppling the
• 41:05
Speaker 1: Detroit Lions. I want to see if they can take
• 41:08
Speaker 1: care of business against Chicago Bears and Sam Donald be
• 41:11
Speaker 1: the special player that he's been this season.
• 41:14
  Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good one.
• 41:15
Speaker 5: I'm looking for competency from the Bears, which which we
• 41:18
Speaker 5: haven't haven't seen in the last few weeks, but which
• 41:21
Speaker 5: I guess sets the bar fairly low. But for the Vikings,
• 41:24
Speaker 5: I mean, the more like we go forward on this thing,
• 41:26
Speaker 5: the more this feels like the forty nine Ers from
• 41:29
Speaker 5: a couple of years ago. Right, You've got you've got
• 41:31
Speaker 5: a top pick rookie quarterback and you know you haven't
• 41:35
Speaker 5: really seen him yet. And now you've got this this
• 41:37
Speaker 5: guy that maybe you didn't count on taking the league
• 41:40
Speaker 5: by storm. Obviously, you know Darnold is in a little
• 41:43
Speaker 5: bit of different situation in terms of acquisition compared to
• 41:46
Speaker 5: brock Party, But dang, they're playing so good it makes
• 41:49
Speaker 5: you feel like, why why mess with a good thing?
• 41:51
  Speaker 4: Here?
• 41:51
Speaker 5: I think this will be a really interesting decision for
• 41:53
Speaker 5: the Vikings as we move forward here.
• 41:56
Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to watching the Bears and seeing if
• 41:59
Speaker 3: we can see more the second half San Francisco Caleb
• 42:02
Speaker 3: Williams and company, then the first half drought that we
• 42:06
Speaker 3: saw with that offense, and I want to see I
• 42:08
Speaker 3: want to see one two run.
• 42:09
Speaker 2: That's what I'm keeping an eye on this game. One
• 42:11
Speaker 2: two run. One's not there. I'm and two's not there.
• 42:13
  Speaker 2: I'm running.
• 42:14
Speaker 3: I'm not hanging in the pocket if I'm Caleb Williams
• 42:16
Speaker 3: and waiting for number three, because number three is gonna
• 42:18
Speaker 3: result and you getting a hand up after you've been
• 42:21
Speaker 3: peeled off the ground by this Minnesota Vikings front. So
• 42:24
Speaker 3: I want to see can they operate a little bit
• 42:26
Speaker 3: quicker with your decision making there? Caleb in that offense
• 42:30
Speaker 3: there with the Bears, Rhett Atlanta and Vegas.
• 42:34
  Speaker 2: Go ahead?
• 42:34
  Speaker 4: My powers.
• 42:37
Speaker 2: Is on your Is he on your team? Is he
• 42:39
Speaker 2: on your rookie team this week?
• 42:41
Speaker 5: I don't know that he's on my rookie team this week.
• 42:42
  Speaker 5: I just like, that's that's what I want to watch
• 42:44
Speaker 5: in this game. And and that's that's, uh, you know,
• 42:47
Speaker 5: like what else do you want to look for? I mean,
• 42:49
Speaker 5: like this is if you, certainly, if you're a Raiders fan,
• 42:51
Speaker 5: like this is. That's that's the price of admission for
• 42:54
Speaker 5: you is going to see Rock Bauers play. Because he
• 42:56
Speaker 5: is an absolute star in this league already and they
• 43:00
Speaker 5: just got to keep finding more ways to get him
• 43:02
Speaker 5: the football. And I know, obviously the quarterback situation has
• 43:06
Speaker 5: definitely been less than ideal this year. They are one
• 43:09
Speaker 5: of those teams where the quarterback is not on their
• 43:11
Speaker 5: roster either, and they'll be fighting with the Giants. So
• 43:13
Speaker 5: that number one overall pick down the stretch here look
• 43:16
Speaker 5: for the Falcons. It's getting late, right, It's time to
• 43:18
Speaker 5: make your stand, and you know, Kirk Cousins has got
• 43:20
Speaker 5: to figure it out or it is literally going to
• 43:23
Speaker 5: be too late with the way that the Buccaneers are playing.
• 43:25
Speaker 3: Teach Well, I'm just looking at the first thing I
• 43:28
Speaker 3: looked at, Buck, was where is this game at? Because
• 43:32
Speaker 3: if it's at Atlanta and Kirk Cousins is turning the
• 43:35
Speaker 3: ball over and not playing well, now this becomes a
• 43:38
Speaker 3: major national talking point when you can have some bose
• 43:41
Speaker 3: and the calls for Michael Pennix. The fact that this
• 43:43
Speaker 3: is at the Raiders and they're having a down year.
• 43:45
  Speaker 3: I don't anticipate it'll probably be a full house at
• 43:47
Speaker 3: that ball game, but the conversation still will take place
• 43:51
Speaker 3: if Kirk doesn't play better.
• 43:52
Speaker 1: Buck, Yeah, Kirk is on the clock, Like you have
• 43:56
Speaker 1: to play better. There are people that are calling for
• 43:58
Speaker 1: Michael Pennis to get the ball and earned the ball
• 44:00
Speaker 1: over to the level that Kirk Cousins has turned it over.
• 44:03
Speaker 6: Yeah, your job is in jeopardy.
• 44:05
Speaker 1: I want to see how he bounces back, I responded,
• 44:07
Speaker 1: And can he make the game easy for himself by
• 44:09
Speaker 1: making sure that Jean Robinson and Til those years touched
• 44:13
Speaker 1: the ball enough that now you can create those easy
• 44:15
Speaker 1: opportunities on the parameter, big game for Kirk.
• 44:17
Speaker 6: Cousins, a lot on the line.
• 44:18
Speaker 1: He needs to step up and for going well. Well.
• 44:21
Speaker 3: The other side of this is, uh, you know, we
• 44:23
Speaker 3: don't use the T word when we're talking about these
• 44:25
Speaker 3: teams that are not having good years. But if you're
• 44:28
  Speaker 3: a Raiders fan, I don't know which team you're rooting
• 44:30
  Speaker 3: for tonight. I don't I think I know which one
• 44:33
Speaker 3: you should probably be rooting for. But that's taboo, so
• 44:36
  Speaker 3: you know, we'll see it's it's a lot on the
• 44:39
Speaker 3: line in terms of the draft order and the positioning
• 44:41
Speaker 3: with so many teams so closely in the standings there
• 44:45
Speaker 3: as we march towards the spring and and really the
• 44:48
Speaker 3: season of hope for a team like the Raiders who
• 44:50
Speaker 3: need it in a big, big way. All right, that's
• 44:53
Speaker 3: going to do it for us. Today covered a lot
• 44:54
Speaker 3: of ground. We've got a lot to get to this week,
• 44:56
Speaker 3: including Retz Hoosiers. All right, Bucky and I gonna pick
• 44:59
Speaker 3: him to win. You have to stay tuned this week.
• 45:02
Speaker 3: We'll we'll research right here on Move the sticks.
• 45:12
  Speaker 6: M hm
• 45:29
  Speaker 5: Hm
