Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM six.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Forty as we finished the last hour of the show.
- 0:09Speaker 2: A little bit different this hour, we're switching things a bit.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's Footy Friday with a Neil at eight thirty at
- 0:17Speaker 2: the bottom of the hour, and this morning at eight
- 0:20Speaker 2: it's ask Handle Anything. And if you have not listened,
- 0:23Speaker 2: if you usually come aboard down at the bottom of
- 0:25Speaker 2: the hour, or you come aboard at the top of
- 0:28Speaker 2: the hour, like right now, you'll be listening normally you'll
- 0:31Speaker 2: be listening to Neil, and instead it's ask Handle Anything,
- 0:35Speaker 2: where I answer questions that are designed to embarrass me.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That's what it always all about. And here it works.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You record, Neil chooses, I answer, and it is generally
- 0:50Speaker 2: kind of fun for you and Neil, and that's what
- 0:53Speaker 2: it's about, all right. With that being said, you know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: I don't know that phrase with that being said, because
- 0:59Speaker 2: you've already said it, so do you have to say
- 1:03Speaker 2: I just said it?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Hmm?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Think about that very strange, like how do vacuum bottles,
- 1:10Speaker 2: you know, the thermos bottles, They things keep hot and
- 1:14Speaker 2: then things keep cold, and how does it know? How
- 1:17Speaker 2: do it know to keep things hot or cold? Okay,
- 1:21Speaker 2: let's do it. Ask handle anything?
- 1:26Speaker 4: Excuse my accent. I know, like me, you don't like
- 1:29Speaker 4: when people bastardize English. So I have to ask, do
- 1:33Speaker 4: you have something against the first, second, and third each
- 1:38Speaker 4: beginning of the month and also on the twenty first,
- 1:41Speaker 4: twenty second, twenty third? Or ears hurt when you say
- 1:46Speaker 4: today Monday, the ones or the two? Please explain?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Okay to answer? Okay, do I have Do I have
- 1:55Speaker 2: a problem with people that speak with accents?
- 1:57Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:57Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I have a horrific problem with people that live or
- 2:01Speaker 2: work or speak with accents. I would like you to
- 2:04Speaker 2: know what this woman's accent was. It was a little undetermined,
- 2:09Speaker 2: don't you think so I couldn't place it. I couldn't
- 2:13Speaker 2: place it either or it doesn't make any sense. And
- 2:15Speaker 2: it's like my parents who were here for fifty five
- 2:18Speaker 2: years and you could not understand a word. They said,
- 2:21Speaker 2: that's you know?
- 2:22Speaker 6: What?
- 2:22Speaker 5: Can I tell you?
- 2:23Speaker 7: So?
- 2:24Speaker 3: Where'd you get the once from?
- 2:26Speaker 8: Oh?
- 2:26Speaker 2: I just yeah, because it's the first, you know, the tenth,
- 2:32Speaker 2: So it's the ones. That's where I got it. I
- 2:36Speaker 2: don't know where the hell I got it? Where do
- 2:38Speaker 2: I get anything?
- 2:38Speaker 5: Neil Okay, next question, I haven't.
- 2:41Speaker 7: Asked handle anything question for producer and and you were
- 2:46Speaker 7: steering the ship as executive producer of Loveline for so
- 2:49Speaker 7: many years. What's a behind the scenes story that would
- 2:53Speaker 7: totally ruin a listener's innocent memory of the show. But
- 2:56Speaker 7: that's finally safe to tell.
- 2:57Speaker 3: On the air, Okay.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And I'm going to stop you right there, because, uh,
- 3:02Speaker 2: this is not the Doctor Drew show.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Okay, So we're stopping there.
- 3:08Speaker 3: You can handle anybody. I put those in very rarely, Okay.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I get a lot of them, a lot of questions
- 3:15Speaker 3: for people that aren't you.
- 3:18Speaker 5: That's that's what this show is about. Okay. And you
- 3:21Speaker 5: can answer that question.
- 3:22Speaker 2: What is the secret super behind the scenes something I
- 3:28Speaker 2: can't tell that?
- 3:30Speaker 5: Okay, I will share it.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It has to do with STDs, It has to do
- 3:36Speaker 2: with I gotta be honest.
- 3:37Speaker 8: A lot of band members would come in and show
- 3:39Speaker 8: Drew their their penises.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Of course they would, and can I talk to you?
- 3:44Speaker 9: They got in the hall, you know, I get it
- 3:47Speaker 9: absolute And yeah, because we're walking in and seeing you
- 3:52Speaker 9: look at this doctor, I have more I have more
- 3:55Speaker 9: discharges in the US Army coming out.
- 3:58Speaker 5: I can tell you that showed through their penis. Oh, okay,
- 4:05Speaker 5: let's move on.
- 4:07Speaker 10: Hi, Bill, this is greatchel I'd like to know what
- 4:11Speaker 10: happened to Maria, your housekeeper when you were married to Marjorie.
- 4:16Speaker 2: She is still there with Marjorie and probably will be forever.
- 4:22Speaker 2: She has been a part of our family for twenty
- 4:25Speaker 2: six years now. And when I Marjorie and I split up,
- 4:33Speaker 2: she got Maria.
- 4:35Speaker 5: There we go. I mean, that was it. It was
- 4:37Speaker 5: part of it.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Was part of the horse settlement. You know, what a
- 4:40Speaker 3: bummer you go.
- 4:41Speaker 2: As far as the kid knows, as far as the
- 4:42Speaker 2: kids were concerned, we fought big time for custody. You
- 4:46Speaker 2: take the kids. No, no, you take the kids. No,
- 4:49Speaker 2: you take the kids. Not interested at all. But Maria
- 4:53Speaker 2: went with Marjorie. Still there, still there, Maria, who gets
- 4:58Speaker 2: very very little money because she's illegal. And I always
- 5:02Speaker 2: threatened to call the folks at ICE. And by the way,
- 5:07Speaker 2: that's the way to keep employees really low salaries. And
- 5:11Speaker 2: they'll do anything you want when you threaten to call Ice. Okay,
- 5:15Speaker 2: moving on.
- 5:18Speaker 10: On Friday, Bill, do you think that your daughters are
- 5:22Speaker 10: not successful in their careers because they were never made
- 5:26Speaker 10: to work any for anything their entire lives because they
- 5:30Speaker 10: were spoiled by you just.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Asking no, no, it's a good question. First of all,
- 5:36Speaker 2: they are successful. They have become extraordinarily successful and adept
- 5:42Speaker 2: pickpockets gribing my credit card and I don't even know
- 5:46Speaker 2: that it's happening.
- 5:48Speaker 5: My daughter is in the bake baking business.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Even though she's going for Masters in Computer Sciences because
- 5:56Speaker 2: there are so many jobs out there. And my other
- 5:58Speaker 2: daughter is actually she's decided to go to Scotland. She's
- 6:03Speaker 2: leaving in a couple of weeks and she is going
- 6:06Speaker 2: to be getting a degree in criminal justice and working
- 6:09Speaker 2: as a woman's advocate. That is her passion, helping women
- 6:13Speaker 2: who have been traumatized, who have been physically, emotionally mentally
- 6:19Speaker 2: trauma traumatized. And in the UK, that is a real career.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I mean these women advocates who help women go through
- 6:27Speaker 2: the system. That's a career. And the degree is part
- 6:32Speaker 2: and parcel of the Department of Criminal Justice. And she
- 6:35Speaker 2: is going to Abertay University in dund Dundee, Scotland, which
- 6:41Speaker 2: is at the top of Scotland, which during the winter
- 6:46Speaker 2: is crisp and cold. It's going to be very interesting
- 6:49Speaker 2: from someone leaving southern California. So yeah, no, they're fine.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I wouldn't call them abject failures. I mean I would
- 6:57Speaker 2: like them to be so I can make fun of them.
- 6:59Speaker 2: But you know they're they're doing fine, all right, Kno,
- 7:05Speaker 2: next question, good morning.
- 7:08Speaker 8: Do each of your kids have the same credit limit
- 7:10Speaker 8: on their credit cards?
- 7:13Speaker 2: First of all, they don't have a credit card. They
- 7:16Speaker 2: use mine. You know, I don't know what their limits are.
- 7:20Speaker 2: They realistically, they do have their own credit cards. I
- 7:22Speaker 2: have no idea what their limits are.
- 7:25Speaker 5: None.
- 7:26Speaker 3: So they're paid by you or Marjorie.
- 7:28Speaker 2: No, No, they're paid by actually, strangely enough, I make
- 7:31Speaker 2: a lot of fun of my kids, and you know,
- 7:34Speaker 2: to be honest with you, I pay it.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Okay, moving on, Bill.
- 7:42Speaker 1: As a spokesperson or for that selments, have you ever
- 7:47Speaker 1: considered going on to Shark Tank.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Well, it's not my call.
- 7:53Speaker 2: For one thing, it's the owners of Zelman's and that
- 7:57Speaker 2: is Anthony and Lord.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And you know what, that's a good question. I have
- 8:02Speaker 3: not brought that up.
- 8:03Speaker 5: I will. I will.
- 8:06Speaker 2: That is a very good idea. Except here's the problem
- 8:10Speaker 2: is that when you go on Shark Tank, the sharks
- 8:13Speaker 2: whenever they invest into a company. They want thirty forty
- 8:17Speaker 2: fifty percent of the company. That's a lot to give up.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Okay, that question, Hey, good morning handle.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So in your career, has there ever been a time,
- 8:32Speaker 1: either in public or even at the station, that someone
- 8:35Speaker 1: got in your face was threatening to beat the crap
- 8:38Speaker 1: out of you, either for something you said or maybe
- 8:41Speaker 1: anti Semitic or whatever. And so what was the result?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Okay, has there anybody ever done that? Okay, which week
- 8:49Speaker 2: of which month are we talking about over the last
- 8:53Speaker 2: thirty years?
- 8:54Speaker 5: Just pick a week. The answer is yes.
- 8:57Speaker 3: An event or anything. And so I don't remember anybody,
- 9:00Speaker 3: No I do.
- 9:01Speaker 5: No, I do.
- 9:02Speaker 2: There were events, remember when we used to have well
- 9:04Speaker 2: we still do have. We have armed security going with
- 9:08Speaker 2: us because because of crazy people. And uh, the only
- 9:11Speaker 2: one of my my the closest is when my girls
- 9:14Speaker 2: were in uh, their strollers, and I was at an
- 9:18Speaker 2: event and a crazy woman started making a bee line
- 9:22Speaker 2: for the kids and at that time, Sam, who was
- 9:26Speaker 2: our security guy, just casually walked over to her and
- 9:30Speaker 2: grabbed her by the elbow and very gently said, you
- 9:32Speaker 2: know what, why why don't we go over here and
- 9:34Speaker 2: talk about whatever issue?
- 9:35Speaker 5: I mean? He was very good The.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Answer is yes, I've gotten plenty of antisemitic statements, tons
- 9:41Speaker 2: of those.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Remember when I had the wall of hate?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Uh oh yeah, We've gotten bomb threats because of what
- 9:47Speaker 2: I've said.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Uh yeah, yeah. It's it's really calm down over the years.
- 9:52Speaker 5: It's not nearly as bad as.
- 9:53Speaker 3: You between John coblt and someone once before an event
- 9:57Speaker 3: that actually turned into a riot at one of the schools.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I can't remember if it was full or ten or something, but.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I remember once at an event I did for when
- 10:08Speaker 2: we were doing the cookwear events, and there was a
- 10:12Speaker 2: guy who must have been six feet eight, and he
- 10:17Speaker 2: was in overalls coveralls, and he walked right up to
- 10:22Speaker 2: me and he reached into the top of the overalls,
- 10:27Speaker 2: reached in there, and Sam and I thought the guy's
- 10:31Speaker 2: going to pull out a weapon, and Sam is moving
- 10:34Speaker 2: towards him. So he goes and he pulls out a
- 10:37Speaker 2: pin and grabs a piece of paper and goes, would you.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Sign an autograph?
- 10:41Speaker 5: Bill?
- 10:44Speaker 2: So we've had incidences, all right, I don't think i've
- 10:49Speaker 2: ever shared that.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Actually, all right, Cono, we do have another win.
- 10:53Speaker 11: Good morning, Bill, handle, it's another beautiful day. And San
- 10:58Speaker 11: Juan camp Astray for a trike bike ride. My question
- 11:03Speaker 11: to you is what were your favorite cartoons and comic
- 11:09Speaker 11: books that you engaged in and has your therapist ever
- 11:15Speaker 11: discuss that with you?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Yes, my favorite one is a fairly obscure comic book
- 11:21Speaker 2: called Subway Slut and it came out of Japan. It's
- 11:25Speaker 2: an anime one and not only have I discussed it
- 11:29Speaker 2: with my therapist, we actually enjoy it where we start
- 11:35Speaker 2: just reading it together. So yeah, probably Superman. When I
- 11:40Speaker 2: was a kid, I liked Superman the best. Okay, yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 2: do we have one more?
- 11:49Speaker 1: All right?
- 11:49Speaker 3: What type of client were you for your contractor and
- 11:53Speaker 3: did you have difficult clients way back in the day
- 11:56Speaker 3: when you were a contractor?
- 11:58Speaker 7: Thanks?
- 11:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, I had difficult clients, which is one
- 12:03Speaker 2: of the reasons that I got out of contracting, also
- 12:05Speaker 2: because I went broke and didn't do such a wonderful job.
- 12:08Speaker 2: But there's no such thing as a client who doesn't
- 12:11Speaker 2: have a who has never had a contractor. And I
- 12:14Speaker 2: was pretty good. I don't question bills, pretty the bills
- 12:18Speaker 2: that come in very much. So I'm considered a pretty
- 12:20Speaker 2: good client. That's just who I am. So yeah, that's it.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I can't think of anything else.
- 12:28Speaker 5: If we have one more, we can squeeze it through.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Kno H.
- 12:31Speaker 12: Just a quick question for you, after hearing about your many,
- 12:35Speaker 12: many troubles getting on air for the last week or two,
- 12:38Speaker 12: aren't you scared that they're going to pull you away
- 12:40Speaker 12: from home and make you go to the office every
- 12:43Speaker 12: day into the studio. It seems you can't figure out
- 12:45Speaker 12: how to do your online stuff very much. That's all
- 12:49Speaker 12: we seem to hear is you're not in the office
- 12:51Speaker 12: just because you can't figure it out.
- 12:53Speaker 3: What's going on.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't matter where I am. I can't do
- 12:56Speaker 2: the online stuff. I just don't know how. I don't
- 13:00Speaker 2: understand technology. I don't know how cell phones work without
- 13:03Speaker 2: a wire to the wall. That's for starters. And I
- 13:06Speaker 2: don't know how microphones work, which is why I'm so loud.
- 13:09Speaker 2: And ConA will tell you he has to pot me
- 13:12Speaker 2: way down because people listen one hundred miles away, two
- 13:14Speaker 2: hundred miles away, so they have to hear me. So
- 13:16Speaker 2: I scream because I don't understand how way it works. No,
- 13:19Speaker 2: a lot of people work at home and have their
- 13:24Speaker 2: broadcast studios at home because it's changed.
- 13:26Speaker 3: COVID changed everything, but we know how to use them.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yeah, well yeah, I have Lindsay here whenever I have
- 13:31Speaker 2: a problem and the answer. Oh and because I'm an
- 13:35Speaker 2: hour and a half away from the station and now
- 13:38Speaker 2: you go in and it's a long drive, and the
- 13:41Speaker 2: only person crazy enough to drive that long coming into
- 13:44Speaker 2: that far away is Kno, because Cono is demented and crazy.
- 13:49Speaker 2: What can I tell you? We're done? Guys, that's it.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Ask Candle, anything is Phoeni.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I'm in the move. The food can't buye he have
- 14:07Speaker 3: six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app Happy Friday,
- 14:11Speaker 3: Neils Evader in the morning crew here Handle left to
- 14:13Speaker 3: go catch an aeroplane, hopefully not with his hands. Whoo
- 14:20Speaker 3: handle joke, Bizinger here with the whole gang. As Handle
- 14:25Speaker 3: goes out, I think he's heading to Las Vegas, is
- 14:27Speaker 3: what he's doing today. And we'll get started with foody Friday.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Do you have like a different song or I just
- 14:37Speaker 3: go into it? Kno, I'm just gonna go into it.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Ice Cream. You scream ice cream? We all scream for
- 14:45Speaker 3: ice cream. Top ten ice cream flavors in America. This
- 14:48Speaker 3: is according to Instacart. And if you're not familiar with instacart.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Of course, that is just the third party service you
- 14:54Speaker 3: used to go get your groceries, which sounds great until
- 14:57Speaker 3: you get produce, Like, how the hell did they pick
- 15:00Speaker 3: this produce. I like Instacart, I just save it for
- 15:04Speaker 3: certain things that can't be messed up. I suppose I'm
- 15:09Speaker 3: a vanilla guy, which is strange people might think, you know,
- 15:13Speaker 3: with my background and creativity and all this stuff, maybe
- 15:17Speaker 3: i'd like something different. I think simple things, perfected, like
- 15:24Speaker 3: I believe the Chinese say the hardest thing to draw
- 15:27Speaker 3: is a perfect circle that I think. To get vanilla right,
- 15:31Speaker 3: there's nothing to hide behind. There's you know, chocolate. You
- 15:36Speaker 3: can even have dips in the chocolate or the flavoring,
- 15:40Speaker 3: like a chocolate malt for instance. I'm not crazy about
- 15:43Speaker 3: a chocolate malt made with chocolate ice cream, which I
- 15:46Speaker 3: know sounds stupid, But if you make a vanilla malt
- 15:51Speaker 3: shake with chocolate syrup, I think that's more flavorful and
- 15:56Speaker 3: more tasty than with chocolate ice cream, if that makes sense.
- 16:00Speaker 3: So I've always liked vanilla, but I like other flavors
- 16:03Speaker 3: as well, you know, cookies and cream and all that.
- 16:05Speaker 3: But one of my all times and Ann or Amy
- 16:10Speaker 3: or Cono or well if you want to jump in
- 16:12Speaker 3: on any of these, please feel free to. Is the
- 16:16Speaker 3: Thrifties ice cream. And the flavor that I loved the
- 16:19Speaker 3: most was that double chocolate malted crunch. Do you anybody
- 16:23Speaker 3: remember double chocolate malted crunch? I don't remember that.
- 16:27Speaker 8: What is that? Did it have like whoppers in it?
- 16:30Speaker 3: Kind of? But it was it was They were tiny
- 16:34Speaker 3: and they weren't chocolate covered, but they had that was
- 16:37Speaker 3: the crunch. And it was malted ice cream, so you
- 16:42Speaker 3: had the malted like a shake would be malted with
- 16:45Speaker 3: malt powder. And it's great if you can find it.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I think I can't remember who took over the Thrifties
- 16:51Speaker 3: ice cream after right Aid closed.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Well it's bad.
- 16:58Speaker 8: It's a thing again.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Well yeah, somebody in the store. Yeah, it was owned.
- 17:03Speaker 3: It was owned by Thrifties and then right Aid took
- 17:06Speaker 3: it over. Savon did and that became Rite eight or
- 17:09Speaker 3: something like that, and then when it went away, someone
- 17:12Speaker 3: picked it up and now you can buy it in
- 17:14Speaker 3: the grocery stores. But if you can find double chocolate
- 17:17Speaker 3: malted crunch, I will tell you it is a fantastic flavor. Amy,
- 17:21Speaker 3: let's start with you. What's your go to when it
- 17:24Speaker 3: comes to ice cream flavors?
- 17:25Speaker 8: My absolute? Oh well, I've got a new favorite now.
- 17:28Speaker 8: But my my traditional all time favorite is peppermint candy.
- 17:32Speaker 8: But I'm really into that salted caramel chocolate right now.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Oh right, yeah, that's a great one as well. Is
- 17:38Speaker 3: Ann around.
- 17:41Speaker 8: I moved out of the went to get ice cream.
- 17:44Speaker 3: She went to go get ice cream? Kno, what's your lick, bro?
- 17:49Speaker 6: Mine is, well, it's Rocky Okay, you can't have Rocky
- 17:54Speaker 6: Road because of the almonds or whatever.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Is in it, but it's walnuts or something.
- 17:59Speaker 6: The best thing is the Rocky Road ice cream with
- 18:02Speaker 6: those marshmallows. I wish they just had that ice cream
- 18:06Speaker 6: because I have to spit out the nuts.
- 18:08Speaker 8: I'm the same way. It doesn't but I don't like
- 18:10Speaker 8: the nuts. I just think they're grossed, so I spit
- 18:12Speaker 8: them out.
- 18:12Speaker 6: But they have like they have They say they have
- 18:14Speaker 6: marshmallow ice cream or chocolate with marshmallow, but it's like
- 18:17Speaker 6: the swirl. It's not the actual marshmallows, so it's not
- 18:20Speaker 6: the same. But if there was that ice cream, that
- 18:22Speaker 6: would be my favorite.
- 18:23Speaker 8: And it's Anne's favorite too. We just she just yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 8: she just said, Okay.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Hey, does Anne like the nuts or does she spit
- 18:32Speaker 3: them out like Cono?
- 18:32Speaker 8: And and do you like the nuts or do you
- 18:34Speaker 8: spit them out like ConA does?
- 18:38Speaker 5: She doesn't need she doesn't eat nuts.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Huh liar God, that real party room? What about will
- 18:50Speaker 3: will ice cream? No things listening to you?
- 18:53Speaker 2: No?
- 18:54Speaker 3: No, most people. Okay, So vanilla tops the list as
- 18:58Speaker 3: America's favorite ice cream flavor. This appears in twenty one
- 19:02Speaker 3: percent of all instacart ice cream orders in twenty twenty
- 19:05Speaker 3: five ranks is the top flavor in every single state
- 19:10Speaker 3: of the Union and the District of Columbia Washington. Regional
- 19:15Speaker 3: preferences you know are going to have different flavorings, buttered
- 19:19Speaker 3: pecan leading in the South. Gonna have my bottom pickle
- 19:24Speaker 3: coffee over in New England. Mint chocolate chip. I do
- 19:29Speaker 3: like the mint chocolate chip. Are you a white or
- 19:32Speaker 3: a green standing out?
- 19:34Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 19:34Speaker 3: I like green too. Mid Atlantic rocky Road proving especially
- 19:38Speaker 3: popular in the West. Look at all, you little sheep.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Classic flavors are obviously continuing to dominate, but the rankings
- 19:47Speaker 3: are shifting, with cookie dough climbing to number three spot
- 19:51Speaker 3: in twenty twenty five and chocolate fudge brownie, which sounds
- 19:54Speaker 3: good right now, entering the top five. Hey, Neil, Yeah, you.
- 20:00Speaker 8: Can get your Thrifty Chocolate malted Crunch at Kroger's.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Oh, I've got to tell you, you've got to try it.
- 20:07Speaker 3: If you've never tried double chocolate malted crunch, get it.
- 20:12Speaker 3: It is fan freakingtastic. I'm going to get some today
- 20:16Speaker 3: and I don't even think I can eat ice cream
- 20:18Speaker 3: after surgery, but I will sniff it.
- 20:22Speaker 8: It says it's it's Safeway too, which for us that's
- 20:25Speaker 8: Pavilions and Vaughn's Smart in the final so it looks
- 20:29Speaker 8: like it's all over the place, but it's Thrifty brand
- 20:31Speaker 8: ice cream.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Oh man, I want it so bad right now. All right,
- 20:35Speaker 3: Neil Savader in the Morning team here, handle just left
- 20:38Speaker 3: to catch flight, so we're doing Foody Friday solo with
- 20:43Speaker 3: just the team here. We were talking about ice cream.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I gotta tell you, We've got like fifteen calls on
- 20:49Speaker 3: the talkback just about ice cream. So here's a little discrepancy.
- 20:53Speaker 3: When I was growing up, I believe the name of
- 20:56Speaker 3: the ice cream was double chocolate malted Crunch. It has
- 21:01Speaker 3: since been changed to malted crunch or something like that,
- 21:06Speaker 3: or chocolate malted crunch. It was not that way from
- 21:09Speaker 3: my memory, as long as I didn't have some sort
- 21:14Speaker 3: of what do they call that effect? Oh, it just
- 21:21Speaker 3: escaped my mind. It'll come to me the South African leader,
- 21:28Speaker 3: the Amandela, Yeah, Mandela effect. So when people have mass
- 21:37Speaker 3: false memories. But I do believe it was double chocolate
- 21:40Speaker 3: malted crunch. Maybe there were swirls in it at the
- 21:43Speaker 3: time or something, and now it's just called chocolate malted
- 21:46Speaker 3: crunch with a K. Well, no, some people call it
- 21:50Speaker 3: that with a K, but I don't think the package
- 21:53Speaker 3: does that with a K.
- 21:55Speaker 8: Well, let's look, because it's showing up as that with
- 21:58Speaker 8: a K. Yeah, there's yeah, it's on the label.
- 22:01Speaker 3: It is OK. So I think it wasn't originally or
- 22:05Speaker 3: that has changed too when they made the other change,
- 22:07Speaker 3: going through all these different things, because I'm like, no,
- 22:10Speaker 3: I remember it is double malted crunch. But ice cream
- 22:12Speaker 3: sure got the people out. Someone asked about malt. Can
- 22:15Speaker 3: you still find malts? Yes, if you go to a
- 22:18Speaker 3: malt shop, you can still find a malt that is
- 22:22Speaker 3: made with malted powder and you can get malt powder
- 22:26Speaker 3: at the grocery store too, but you have to like,
- 22:30Speaker 3: what is it the Fair Oaks uh in Pasadena, that
- 22:36Speaker 3: old timey soda jerk place. They have it. I know
- 22:42Speaker 3: because I had one not that long ago. There certain
- 22:44Speaker 3: old time places will still do malted shakes that are
- 22:48Speaker 3: not just the ice cream. They actually have malt powder
- 22:51Speaker 3: in there, but you'd have to check and see which ones,
- 22:53Speaker 3: because most people do just shakes nowadays, which is usually
- 22:57Speaker 3: just ice cream and milk some kind, and that is there.
- 23:01Speaker 3: So another thing that gets people hyped up is of
- 23:04Speaker 3: course French fries. So McDonald's was always the pinnacle, especially
- 23:08Speaker 3: when they used to use beef tallow instead of whatever
- 23:12Speaker 3: they use now. Beef tallow is is beef fat, and
- 23:19Speaker 3: it really changed the flavor fries. But some angry vegetarian
- 23:25Speaker 3: I think for religious reasons, sued them or something and
- 23:29Speaker 3: they had to switch it out. I wish they would
- 23:33Speaker 3: just label it, say no, we fry things and beef
- 23:37Speaker 3: tallow because it was so great, pillowy, crunchy on the outside,
- 23:42Speaker 3: consistent blonde color, just those wonderful things we like about
- 23:48Speaker 3: French fries. Well, you've got Chick fil A's with the
- 23:50Speaker 3: waffle fries, which to me are never crunchy. And I
- 23:53Speaker 3: don't know why Arby's has the curly fries, which are
- 23:55Speaker 3: fun and different. Five guys. Of course, dumping all of
- 23:59Speaker 3: those wonderful salted fries fresh out of the hot oil
- 24:02Speaker 3: straight into the bag is wonderful. I love in and out.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I can't stand their fries. They're fine there. They are
- 24:09Speaker 3: a single hit fresh fries, and if you do a
- 24:12Speaker 3: single dip with fresh potatoes, they just aren't great and
- 24:17Speaker 3: they don't last very long. You have to do it best,
- 24:19Speaker 3: or at least a double hit of those fries to
- 24:22Speaker 3: get that second crunch on there. But the fast food
- 24:27Speaker 3: fries that are reigning supreme right now I have mixed
- 24:29Speaker 3: feelings about, and that is the Del Taco, the little
- 24:38Speaker 3: wavy fries. They're crinkle cut, crinkle cut, thank.
- 24:41Speaker 8: You, I crinkle cut fries.
- 24:43Speaker 5: I don't mind them.
- 24:44Speaker 3: They depend and I do like the I do like
- 24:46Speaker 3: Del Taco fries and they usually give you oh plenty,
- 24:50Speaker 3: but I don't think they're great fries. There's something about
- 24:54Speaker 3: the crinkle cut that doesn't seem as fresh to me,
- 24:57Speaker 3: and I don't know why I make the cut style
- 25:00Speaker 3: whatever it might be, but they are at the top
- 25:04Speaker 3: of the game here. I remember Shannon Farren saying her
- 25:09Speaker 3: husband Craig loves fries but doesn't like McDonald's fries. And
- 25:12Speaker 3: I always thought that was strange because McDonald's always seems
- 25:17Speaker 3: like the pinnacle. Maybe likes a thicker fry. Who the
- 25:20Speaker 3: hell knows. There are some people that like those steak fries,
- 25:24Speaker 3: those really thick fries. But there's something about that quarterage
- 25:29Speaker 3: and change fry. Not quite a shoe string fry. But
- 25:33Speaker 3: is that at McDonald's that hits that perfect spot for me?
- 25:38Speaker 3: But apparently Del Taco that's the jam right now. They
- 25:43Speaker 3: got the fry you need. Speaking of Gary and Shannon,
- 25:46Speaker 3: coming up next, I'll see you tomorrow Monday. I'm off
- 25:50Speaker 3: spend time with the family. It's been a very very
- 25:53Speaker 3: weird summer for us, in then out of blood tests
- 25:57Speaker 3: and everything else, trying to get some time with the fan.
- 26:00Speaker 3: But I will see you on Tuesday, which will be fun.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Then all right, have a wonderful weekend. Stick around. Is
- 26:10Speaker 3: it is Gary and Shannon, and then it Months and Maryland?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah no, no, I was thinking of who's filling in.
- 26:18Speaker 3: It's Andy filling in. For Conway. Catch you on the
- 26:23Speaker 3: flip side. This is the Bill Handle Show on KFI,
