- 0:00Speaker 1: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Morning on Mix 102.9. Brought to you.
- 0:05Speaker 2: By Mint Dentistry.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. Yeah, I
- 0:08Speaker 1: brought in some vegetables because I'm trying to eat better.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:11Speaker 1: So I'm just going to bring in some carrots and
- 0:13Speaker 1: some cucumbers and stuff like that. That's great. So I
- 0:15Speaker 1: don't eat junk and his body is rejecting healthy food.
- 0:19Speaker 1: The carrot was good. Lightly salted.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It was good. But that cucumber and then I added
- 0:24Speaker 1: that everything bagel seasoning. You see, Pooh can eat. Three
- 0:28Speaker 1: honey butter biscuits from Whataburger.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And his body's fine.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 1: If he drinks too much water or anything healthy, his
- 0:35Speaker 1: body's like, what is this? What is going on over here?
- 0:38Speaker 2: I feel sick.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I feel sick. Yeah, my stomach is... I think it
- 0:42Speaker 1: was the cucumber. I'm sick. I can't go out.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I'm sick.
- 0:47Speaker 1: All right, Dirty Little Secret, if you got one, bring
- 0:50Speaker 1: it 833-787-1029, and you do.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of a heavy one, but I've never
- 0:56Speaker 2: told anybody this, actually, not even my sister. But a
- 0:59Speaker 2: couple of years ago, I helped cover up our dad's affair.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So my parents have been unhappily married for
- 1:09Speaker 2: a long time, as far as I can remember. Honestly,
- 1:12Speaker 2: I can't really think of a time where I looked
- 1:14Speaker 2: at them and thought they really loved each other. It's
- 1:18Speaker 2: been pretty rocky for most of my childhood. And I
- 1:22Speaker 2: hate saying this because she's my mom, but she's always
- 1:25Speaker 2: treated my dad like crap, really, really bad. My sister
- 1:30Speaker 2: and I both saw it growing up, not just me. Obviously,
- 1:32Speaker 2: when we were kids, we didn't really understand or get
- 1:36Speaker 2: that what was going on. But as I got older, yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 2: as I got older, especially as an adult now, my
- 1:42Speaker 2: dad and I started having some pretty serious talks. And
- 1:46Speaker 2: he's told me more than once that the only reason
- 1:49Speaker 2: why he stayed with me Our mom was because of
- 1:52Speaker 2: the kids, of us, you know. But my mom is
- 1:56Speaker 2: just a very unhappy, you know, I hate saying this
- 1:59Speaker 2: about my mother, but she's kind of a miserable, miserable person.
- 2:03Speaker 2: A couple of years ago, I accidentally found my dad
- 2:06Speaker 2: out with another woman. And that was very, yeah, that
- 2:10Speaker 2: was very awkward.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You found out about another or you saw them out?
- 2:13Speaker 1: So I was.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Meeting a friend at this random hotel bar one night
- 2:18Speaker 2: and I walked in and saw my dad sitting there
- 2:20Speaker 2: with a woman. And you know, yeah, yeah, yeah. I
- 2:24Speaker 2: was actually, it definitely shocked me because if you knew
- 2:27Speaker 2: my dad, you'd never think this is that he was
- 2:30Speaker 2: the guy to be doing this, you know? Right.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah. You don't, you don't expect that ever, no matter
- 2:35Speaker 1: what's going on.
- 2:36Speaker 2: No, not at all. But so later that night he
- 2:39Speaker 2: called me and basically he came clean to me on
- 2:42Speaker 2: the phone. He broke down and he, and he told
- 2:44Speaker 2: me like, he's been very unhappy for many, many years.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And he apologized to me because he felt like he
- 2:49Speaker 2: was setting a terrible example. And he just, He just
- 2:52Speaker 2: was feeling really guilty. He was completely embarrassed, too.
- 2:55Speaker 1: At the same time.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Obviously, I wasn't happy about it, and I wasn't happy
- 2:58Speaker 2: with him, and I told him that. But I also
- 3:01Speaker 2: was way more understanding than I thought I would be
- 3:04Speaker 2: because of the situation at home.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 3:08Speaker 2: But then what happened was my mom started getting suspicious.
- 3:11Speaker 2: She was, like, questioning where my dad had been that
- 3:14Speaker 2: one night. And somehow I got dragged into it. Call
- 3:17Speaker 2: it fate or whatnot. But she asked me something about
- 3:21Speaker 2: whether I was with him or not. And it just
- 3:25Speaker 2: came out of me. I automatically lied for him. Wow.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Really?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Man.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah. you knew what was going on. You knew that
- 3:32Speaker 1: your dad was obviously doing something that was wrong. And
- 3:35Speaker 1: you said, no, I, I know I was with him
- 3:38Speaker 1: that night. So I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I told my mom that my dad had been with me.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And even though I knew he wasn't obviously, and my
- 3:47Speaker 2: sister still doesn't even know any of this. As far
- 3:49Speaker 2: as I know, the only two people who really know
- 3:52Speaker 2: I lied were, you know, are me and my dad.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So yeah, Um, eventually my dad told me that, uh,
- 3:59Speaker 2: he ended things with, with that woman. And, um, you know,
- 4:03Speaker 2: I genuinely thought that he was finally going to divorce
- 4:05Speaker 2: my mom at that point and just let her know.
- 4:07Speaker 1: That's what I was going to ask you. I was
- 4:09Speaker 1: going to ask you if they're still together, because if
- 4:11Speaker 1: you said a couple of years ago, did they end
- 4:12Speaker 1: up obviously splitting up or whatever, but they, they're, are
- 4:15Speaker 1: they still together? Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Well, this is what started happening. This is even, it
- 4:18Speaker 2: got even, you know, more awkward because my mom, um,
- 4:22Speaker 2: unfortunately started having some really pretty bad, serious health problems.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And now I think my dad just feels like trapped
- 4:30Speaker 2: and all over again, or not really trapped, but feels
- 4:33Speaker 2: guilty if he were to leave her now. And, you know,
- 4:38Speaker 2: this is for a completely different reason. She really doesn't
- 4:41Speaker 2: have anyone else to take care of her. And there's
- 4:44Speaker 2: no way he's going to leave her while she's sick.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So, Yeah, that's that's see, I don't think anybody should
- 4:52Speaker 1: be cheated on ever.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I don't care how miserable they are, how they treat someone. Then,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you know, and I understand at the same time why
- 4:59Speaker 1: a guy would stay in a in a relationship for
- 5:02Speaker 1: the kids. I think people do it a lot. Yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I think women do it a lot. I think it happens,
- 5:06Speaker 1: but I just, it never ends well, never ends well.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, when I've watched somebody get treated like
- 5:12Speaker 2: absolute crap for years and you know, the entire story
- 5:15Speaker 2: behind closed doors, you know, things don't always seem as
- 5:18Speaker 2: black and white as you think they're supposed to be.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So I can understand why he did what he did.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I just wish I never saw it or never got
- 5:26Speaker 2: in the middle or put in the position of knowing
- 5:28Speaker 2: any of it. I don't, I really didn't. it builds
- 5:31Speaker 2: resentment with things. And now if she ever found out,
- 5:35Speaker 2: she'd be so mad at me, you know?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Do you regret covering up for him? I do.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I, well, it's like half and half.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I don't because I love my father and I'm looking out,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I want to look out for him and I want
- 5:47Speaker 2: him to be happy, but I do because I just
- 5:49Speaker 2: feel like, you know, it's just not fair to my
- 5:51Speaker 2: mother to not know any of this stuff. And just,
- 5:55Speaker 2: so yeah, if I were to pick one, I would say, yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 2: I feel, I regret it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a big burden to carry.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yes, it sure is.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Sure is. I feel like after to like if somebody's
- 6:06Speaker 1: acting that miserable and she's that upset and she just
- 6:09Speaker 1: seems like she's always disgruntled. Usually there's a reason behind that. Right.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm not saying she's right. You have to address it, though.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And maybe he tried. Maybe there was, you know, some
- 6:18Speaker 1: people are in a mental state that is just not
- 6:20Speaker 1: a good place. So they're acting out or they're acting
- 6:23Speaker 1: like that for a reason. And you got to get
- 6:24Speaker 1: to the real source of the problem. You can't pick
- 6:27Speaker 1: sides just based on the surface. Yeah. But it is
- 6:30Speaker 1: what it is now. And I don't think you could
- 6:31Speaker 1: feel too bad. It's not like you're going to go
- 6:33Speaker 1: back and tell your mom now while she's dealing with
- 6:36Speaker 1: health issues. And I hope she gets better and I
- 6:38Speaker 1: hope it works out. But either way, that's powerful. So
- 6:41Speaker 1: thank you for your secret and your confession.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Thank you, guys.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We'll have another Dirty Little Secret tomorrow at 7.30. Pooh
- 6:47Speaker 1: will cover up for anybody.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I will.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Even if he doesn't know you, you pay Pooh five,
- 6:52Speaker 1: ten bucks, he'll be like, I'll call you, girl, and
- 6:54Speaker 1: say you were with me.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
