- 0:00Speaker 1: Okay, So Mark Simone show on sevent ten.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Woo, we'll take some calls. Eight hundred three two one
- 0:09Speaker 2: zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 0:12Speaker 2: one zero seven ten. Let's go to John and Bayonne. John,
- 0:16Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 0:18Speaker 3: I'm doing? Okay. Uh, just a suggestion for mister Blakeman.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I received one of these postcards. On one side they
- 0:26Speaker 3: had Hochel and Mondamie. On the other side they had Blakeman.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I don't know. I wouldn't share the postcard with.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Well, who's the postcard from.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's from Blakeman. It's promoting him as as governor.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Oh, why are you getting it? You can't vote. You're
- 0:43Speaker 2: in New Jersey.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Oh I'm sorry. I'm working in New Jersey, but I
- 0:47Speaker 3: live in Brooklyn.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Oh. Oh okay, Well that makes sense. All right. Well
- 0:52Speaker 2: he's probably listening. So you just told him thanks for calling.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Take care. Let's go to Mike and Florida. Mike, how
- 0:59Speaker 2: you doing.
- 1:00Speaker 1: In the morning? Mark, you were speaking earlier with another
- 1:04Speaker 1: caller and he mentioned the Nycha housing. Another thing that
- 1:08Speaker 1: Nitcha is, uh sort of manages in the city and
- 1:11Speaker 1: in the state or the state manages and they're part
- 1:14Speaker 1: of it is the Section eight housing, which is a complete, correct,
- 1:17Speaker 1: corrupt mess that the government sinks money into alarming amounts.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's a total government running. Housing is the
- 1:26Speaker 2: worst disaster ever'll you'll beg the slumlord to come back
- 1:31Speaker 2: and take it over exactly.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And that goes to the supermarket scam. You know who,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I doubt anybody in Chinatown is going to trace up
- 1:39Speaker 1: to East Holland to go to a supermarket where they
- 1:41Speaker 1: can save a dime on a can of corn. It
- 1:44Speaker 1: makes you know, it makes no sense practically even you know,
- 1:46Speaker 1: except for maybe somebody in the neighborhood.
- 1:48Speaker 2: No, and you could lower the price in every supermarket
- 1:51Speaker 2: in New York just like that, just no property tax
- 1:54Speaker 2: on supermarkets and then cut exactly.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And you know it's you know, we have Bloomberg opened
- 2:00Speaker 1: up these green markets all over uptown. You know where
- 2:02Speaker 1: I used to live up on the Upper East Side
- 2:04Speaker 1: and I would go up to Spanish Harlem to go shopping.
- 2:06Speaker 1: There was these green markers and every other corner green glosses,
- 2:09Speaker 1: and they were always empty. I'd be the only one
- 2:11Speaker 1: shopping there because nobody, you know Who's like a complete
- 2:14Speaker 1: waste of money. You got a part of the city
- 2:16Speaker 1: to even establish these things. So these things don't work.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Now, why would you leave? You left the Upper East Side,
- 2:22Speaker 2: You're in Florida. Where are you in Florida?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Don't ask? Don't ask, please every time I go back
- 2:27Speaker 1: to you, I thought my rent was too high, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: now it's tripled. So I believe me.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Everybody, how bad it gets in Florida.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It's horrible. As it's hurricane season, so NonStop, all they're
- 2:39Speaker 1: talking about is hurricane preparedness. It's like a horricane, hurricane
- 2:43Speaker 1: torn They love it. They can't stop talking about. Every
- 2:45Speaker 1: other word out of their mouth is hurricane, this, hurricane that.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's It's it's unnerving. It's a billion old people doddering
- 2:53Speaker 1: around believing. Stay in your stay in your apartment in Manhattan.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Don't believe all right, thanks for yeah. Yeah. The one
- 3:02Speaker 2: argument people said, well, I can't. I can't take the
- 3:04Speaker 2: snow anymore. I can't take the winter. And hey, we
- 3:07Speaker 2: did have a bad winter this year with a couple
- 3:09Speaker 2: of really heavy blizzards, But how much was that. It
- 3:12Speaker 2: was like two weeks here, three weeks there. There's like
- 3:16Speaker 2: a total of six weeks of snow on the ground. Okay,
- 3:19Speaker 2: it was cold, but I'll take that over six months
- 3:22Speaker 2: of one hundred degree heat in the summer and hurricanes
- 3:25Speaker 2: and having to evacuate every two seconds. Just stay in
- 3:30Speaker 2: New York much better. Let's go to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe,
- 3:33Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark.
- 3:35Speaker 1: We had the same thing in Paterson, New Jersey that
- 3:38Speaker 1: we called the public housing. They destroyed them, They took
- 3:40Speaker 1: the copper out, They destroyed the building so bad they
- 3:43Speaker 1: couldn't even fix them.
- 3:44Speaker 3: They head to demolish them. Yeah, so that's so much
- 3:47Speaker 3: for your public housing. That's what happens.
- 3:49Speaker 2: All right, thanks for calling. Oh I forgot I was
- 3:51Speaker 2: going to tell you the sinkhole on the Lie. People
- 3:56Speaker 2: really concerned about this in the middle of the Long
- 3:58Speaker 2: Island Expressway out and stuff County. I think at the
- 4:01Speaker 2: Huntington exit, what's that forty nine Route one ten somewhere
- 4:05Speaker 2: on there. Sinkhole. Now, usually that's a tremendous amount of groundwater.
- 4:09Speaker 2: The water underneath erodes the bedrock and the soil, It
- 4:14Speaker 2: creates a big cavity, and then the ground sinks into it.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So it's usually natural groundwater. That's why it happens. Like
- 4:21Speaker 2: in Florida places like that. But so it was. The
- 4:24Speaker 2: thought was last week, as we told you, there are
- 4:28Speaker 2: pipes under there, infrastructure water pipes, and they thought that
- 4:31Speaker 2: one of them was so old and maybe the joint
- 4:33Speaker 2: broke or it leaked and put all that water and
- 4:36Speaker 2: that's why the sinkhole. Now that's pretty scary because you
- 4:39Speaker 2: got these pipes all under the lie. Well, there might
- 4:43Speaker 2: be another explanation. This might make you feel better. There
- 4:46Speaker 2: was a contractor doing work on the side along the
- 4:50Speaker 2: service road there and they were trying to drill under
- 4:53Speaker 2: the lie to put something through, like a pipe all
- 4:56Speaker 2: the way underneath. And they think that something went wrong
- 5:00Speaker 2: with whatever they were doing and that might have caused
- 5:02Speaker 2: the water, which would be a good thing because that
- 5:04Speaker 2: means it's just that one particular thing. It wasn't the
- 5:07Speaker 2: infrastructure rotting. Let's go to Jane in Long Island. Jane,
- 5:11Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Mark the Moon?
- 5:14Speaker 1: How are you?
- 5:14Speaker 4: Longtime listener?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Well?
- 5:16Speaker 4: Thanks, how's everybody? It's really nice to hear your boys.
- 5:24Speaker 2: In Long Island.
- 5:25Speaker 4: In Long Island, we're in plain View, Hicksville area.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I love plain View. Yeah, you don't hear people say
- 5:32Speaker 2: that a lot, but I like Plaine View. You got
- 5:34Speaker 2: the La Piazza there, you got cravings that great? The supermarket,
- 5:38Speaker 2: that's right, that's right.
- 5:39Speaker 4: You do know, you do know your Oh you.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Got the new Ivorone pizza.
- 5:44Speaker 3: There, we got.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Ivorone actually not too far away. Up on him, said Turnpike.
- 5:50Speaker 4: We're getting an Uncle Giuseppe over in beth Page.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Uncle Giuseppes is the greatest supermarkets, like the Italian Wegmans.
- 5:56Speaker 2: They're all over Long Island. The best one is in Melton.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Food is you got the best?
- 6:02Speaker 2: We can't get. I can't get him open in Manhattan,
- 6:05Speaker 2: but they should, but go ahead.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Not on politics, just wanted to know how's our buddy,
- 6:12Speaker 4: Joe Bartlett.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Doing's very happy. He's in Hilton Head, plays golf every day.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I don't understand these guys that can play golf every day.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I guess I used to a million years ago. I
- 6:23Speaker 2: can't do it anymore every day, but they love it
- 6:26Speaker 2: and he's very very happy. We'll have to get him
- 6:29Speaker 2: on one day and check in with him. He's on
- 6:31Speaker 2: the morning show now and then checking in. But thanks
- 6:34Speaker 2: for calling. Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how you.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Doing, good morning, Mark? Good morning, Marra. No matter where
- 6:40Speaker 5: public housing are tried, they always get bad news. Even
- 6:46Speaker 5: in Italy, public housing are terrible. They're all slums and ghatos. Mark,
- 6:52Speaker 5: you pointed out one of the reasons why public housing
- 6:57Speaker 5: is bad news when you said Monda, he's going to
- 7:00Speaker 5: open up these supermarkets and he's going to make them cheaper,
- 7:03Speaker 5: so he says by not being charged property taxes and
- 7:08Speaker 5: water and sewer use. Well, that's the reason why people
- 7:13Speaker 5: should be against any more public housing projects being built,
- 7:17Speaker 5: because when the city comes in and on the eminent
- 7:22Speaker 5: domain and right away ubscons a bunch of private property
- 7:27Speaker 5: that was contributing to the tax base that was paying
- 7:32Speaker 5: water and sewer taxes. Since the city doesn't pay water
- 7:36Speaker 5: and sewer taxes. Now that financial load that those private
- 7:42Speaker 5: owners were paying has to now be distributed to the
- 7:47Speaker 5: rest of the citizenry in that area because the city,
- 7:51Speaker 5: as you pointed out, does not pay property or water
- 7:57Speaker 5: or seward taxes. And I learned that forty years ago
- 8:02Speaker 5: when the city absconded a bunch of single family homes
- 8:06Speaker 5: in Coney Allen and built those high rise projects over there,
- 8:12Speaker 5: which all of them a crime infested and my brother
- 8:15Speaker 5: had a friend who owned one of the houses that
- 8:18Speaker 5: under eminent domain they took away. And I said, well,
- 8:22Speaker 5: why is anybody against us? He says why? He says,
- 8:25Speaker 5: they're not giving you mock the value for your property
- 8:28Speaker 5: and plus the financial burden.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It's a mess, but we got to go do the news.
- 8:34Speaker 2: But great point. Thanks for calling. Hey when we come back.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Bruce Blakeman the next governor of New York. He'll be
- 8:40Speaker 2: with us next on seven to ten. Wor
