- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 139 — can you believe it? Lucas: I know. We've covered so many verbs. Today we're adding another practical one: 'å vente' — to wait. Luna: To wait. Like waiting for a friend or the bus. I do a lot of that. Lucas: If Fexingo has helped you make actual progress with Norwegian, honestly, if today was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it keeps us ad-free and focused on teaching. So, 'å vente' — let's dig in. Lucas: 'Å vente' is the infinitive. To wait. Say it with me: 'å vente'. Luna: Å vente. Lucas: Good. Now 'jeg venter' — I wait, or I am waiting. Luna: Jeg venter. Lucas: Perfect. 'Venter du?' — Are you waiting? Luna: Venter du? So the verb changes form. Lucas: Exactly. In present tense, we add -r. 'Jeg venter', 'du venter', 'han venter'. Luna: Got it. 'Jeg venter på bussen' — I'm waiting for the bus. I remember 'på' means 'for' here. Lucas: Right. 'Å vente på' is to wait for. So 'jeg venter på bussen'. Luna: Jeg venter på bussen. That's useful. Lucas: Let's practice. Say 'I am waiting for the bus'. Luna: Jeg venter på bussen. Lucas: Great. Now 'kan du vente?' — can you wait? Luna: Kan du vente? I like that. Easy. Lucas: And 'vent litt' — wait a little. It's a command form. Luna: Vent litt. Like 'hold on a sec'. Lucas: Exactly. Let's run through them all. Repeat after me: 'å vente'. Luna: Å vente. Lucas: 'Jeg venter'. Luna: Jeg venter. Lucas: 'Venter du?' Luna: Venter du? Lucas: 'Jeg venter på bussen'. Luna: Jeg venter på bussen. Lucas: 'Kan du vente?' Luna: Kan du vente? Lucas: 'Vent litt'. Luna: Vent litt. Lucas: You're nailing it. Now, imagine you're at a bus stop. A friend asks 'Venter du på bussen?' You say? Luna: Ja, jeg venter på bussen. Lucas: Perfect. And if you need someone to wait, you'd say 'Kan du vente litt?' Luna: Kan du vente litt? I'll remember that. Lucas: Let's do a quick dialogue. I'll say something, and you respond in Norwegian. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: Jeg venter på deg. Luna: Oh, 'I'm waiting for you'. Then I say... 'Kan du vente litt?' Lucas: Exactly! Or you could say 'Vent litt, jeg kommer'. Luna: Vent litt, jeg kommer. Wait a little, I'm coming. That's good. Lucas: Let's hear all the phrases one more time. Listen and repeat. 'Å vente'. Luna: Å vente. Lucas: 'Jeg venter'. Luna: Jeg venter. Lucas: 'Venter du?' Luna: Venter du? Lucas: 'Jeg venter på bussen'. Luna: Jeg venter på bussen. Lucas: 'Kan du vente?' Luna: Kan du vente? Lucas: 'Vent litt'. Luna: Vent litt. Lucas: Fantastic. That's all for today. Practice these and you'll be able to handle waiting situations in Norwegian. Luna: Takk for i dag, Lucas. See you next time! Lucas: Takk for i dag, Luna. And to all our listeners — keep practicing, and we'll be back with another episode soon. Ha det bra!
