- 0:05Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to the Overland Journal podcast. I'm Matt
- 0:09Speaker 1: Scott and I'm with Scott Brady. Dude, that actually does
- 0:13Speaker 1: it all?
- 0:14Speaker 2: So so do you?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Well, this is actually a podcast where I'm going to
- 0:18Speaker 1: own you.
- 0:18Speaker 2: You are.
- 0:19Speaker 1: We're talking about used cars and buying and selling overland vehicles,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and I feel incredibly you're so well qualified qualified for
- 0:26Speaker 1: this conversation.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Exactly, I have done.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It a lot. So basically what we're talking about right
- 0:35Speaker 1: now is just the best ways to buy a used
- 0:38Speaker 1: overland vehicle and the frankly like massive upsides to it.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because we went through you found some crazy examples.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah, like it's I mean, one, everything has just become
- 0:50Speaker 1: so expensive. I think everybody's feeling it. Not getting into
- 0:53Speaker 1: the politics of it, but as a matter of fact,
- 0:56Speaker 1: tariffs have considerably.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Raised the prices of many things.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we're recording this after the i e EPA tariffs
- 1:06Speaker 1: have been declared illegal.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But now there's a.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Ten or maybe.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Fiftyss the board yet.
- 1:12Speaker 1: A little unclear, but the point remains things are not
- 1:18Speaker 1: cheap anymore, and labor's really expensive.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We started looking at expedition portal classifieds because frankly and
- 1:26Speaker 1: this is how do you say it in our benefit?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, yeah, I mean it's it's one of
- 1:32Speaker 2: the things that we do. But it's there's been fifty
- 1:35Speaker 2: five thousand vehicles, trailers and campers sold through Expedition Portal,
- 1:38Speaker 2: so there's a lot.
- 1:39Speaker 1: There's just nowhere to find if your specific niche is
- 1:44Speaker 1: like overland expedition vehicles, it's just the best collection of
- 1:49Speaker 1: it on the internet. For worthy mention. There's also Expedition Meister.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Great Round, very European centered.
- 1:56Speaker 1: European centric and more like expedition vehicles and what I
- 1:59Speaker 1: mean that as Unimogue's earth roamers, man trucks, blissmobiles.
- 2:04Speaker 2: There's a lot of that on there. I mean, and
- 2:05Speaker 2: they're super nice guys. They're enthusiasts, they love what they do,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and they I think they make a real effort.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I actually curate some time on Expedition myster personally because
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm like the Expedition Portal dude, I don't.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Know, I think great interesting. I mean the amount of
- 2:20Speaker 2: time that I spent on bring a trailer. Oh yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 2: bring a trailer.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Bring a trailer is the best place to buy like
- 2:28Speaker 1: like an expedition vehicle. Again, we're using that in a
- 2:31Speaker 1: like an RV type term. A van a built overland
- 2:35Speaker 1: truck they sell for like pennies and the dollar there.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't quite hit their stride on Bring a Trailer.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And I think it's because Bring a Trailer does such
- 2:42Speaker 2: a good job of curating like vintage vehicles, classic vocals
- 2:47Speaker 2: much and there's so many Yeah, there's a lot of noise.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So like if you wanted to buy, if you wanted
- 2:53Speaker 2: to sell like a nineteen ninety seven eighty Series land
- 2:58Speaker 2: Cruiser that had fifty seven hundred original miles, that's the
- 3:01Speaker 2: place to sell.
- 3:02Speaker 1: That's gonna pop there. But if you're selling a ninety
- 3:06Speaker 1: three eighty Series with two hundred and eighty thousand miles,
- 3:09Speaker 1: which is that car still good.
- 3:10Speaker 2: At oh totally, but a bunch of pop tops and
- 3:12Speaker 2: other things.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean my old eighty Series that, in my opinion,
- 3:17Speaker 1: one of the best ones built in the country. It
- 3:19Speaker 1: went no sale on Bring a Trailer.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yep.
- 3:22Speaker 1: That which was interesting. But the core of this episode,
- 3:25Speaker 1: to kind of get back to it is, while there
- 3:28Speaker 1: are a lot of values out there, this stuff got
- 3:30Speaker 1: very popular during COVID, it just got more popular and
- 3:34Speaker 1: now these vehicles are out there because a lot of
- 3:36Speaker 1: these modifications that are done are either permanent or semi permanent,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and they don't oftentimes get reversed, and you're able to
- 3:46Speaker 1: acquire the parts and modifications and labor associated with them
- 3:52Speaker 1: for like pennies on the dollar.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Oftentimes, even stuff that's highly desirable, like factory overland vehicle
- 3:58Speaker 2: builds like a prospector, you look for what those are
- 4:02Speaker 2: selling for. I mean, these are six figure vehicles new,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and you're seeing them sold in the high seventies, sometimes
- 4:10Speaker 2: even lower than that if it's a little bit older truck.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And I think it just comes back to the reality
- 4:14Speaker 2: that when someone builds an overline vehicle and they go
- 4:17Speaker 2: to sell it, they believe that they're going to get
- 4:20Speaker 2: seventy percent of their investment back, and if they're lucky,
- 4:23Speaker 2: they're going to get seven percent of their investment back
- 4:26Speaker 2: in the modifications unless and I believe that this is
- 4:31Speaker 2: something to be looking for as a buyer, unless it's
- 4:33Speaker 2: a factory overline vehicle, so if it's built by AEV
- 4:37Speaker 2: or if it's a factory limited edition highly modified vehicle
- 4:43Speaker 2: from the factory like a Bronco. Some of the Broncos
- 4:45Speaker 2: are really heavily modified. You know. Another example of that
- 4:49Speaker 2: would be looking at vehicles that were prepared by a
- 4:54Speaker 2: reputable shop. I think the real mistake that people make
- 4:58Speaker 2: is that they just take vehicles on face value or
- 5:01Speaker 2: based on the list of things that were installed. But
- 5:04Speaker 2: who installed them? Did the owner install them in their driveway?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Did they forget a couple bolts? Did they not get
- 5:10Speaker 2: the wiring fused properly? So look for something that's been
- 5:13Speaker 2: built like by Mule Expedition Outfitters or at Overland or
- 5:19Speaker 2: Mainline Overland. Look for a reputable.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Bottle vehicles from Tiny Rig or something in California.
- 5:24Speaker 2: There's just.
- 5:28Speaker 1: A lot of it. It's like it's complicated. There's a
- 5:31Speaker 1: lot of nuance in this right because there's certain people
- 5:34Speaker 1: that you would feel really comfortable buying a vehicle from
- 5:38Speaker 1: now because they do good work. Maybe they've done this before,
- 5:41Speaker 1: but a lot of folks, let's just say a dual battery.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I have seen so many Jeeps, land cruisers, whatever. It's
- 5:50Speaker 1: always like the auxiliary wiring for the lights or the
- 5:52Speaker 1: dual battery that they put in and they burn down.
- 5:55Speaker 1: There are best practices for these things, and if an
- 6:00Speaker 1: individual follows as best practices. Well that's fine, but a
- 6:04Speaker 1: lot of people don't. I mean, we've all kind of
- 6:06Speaker 1: been there. You're excited about the new shiny thing. You
- 6:09Speaker 1: want to install it. Oh, I've got this in the garage.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I got this in the garage. Oh yeah, put a
- 6:12Speaker 1: screw in here. It's not really thought as like a system,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and I think.
- 6:16Speaker 2: That's where you get into a little bit of trouble.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But those builds can also be very affordable. They can
- 6:22Speaker 2: like talk about that one Ranger you found.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, jeez, Like there was this we don't have
- 6:27Speaker 1: a link for, but there was a Ranger on marketplace.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I think it's sold for seventeen thousand dollars. It had
- 6:34Speaker 1: eighty eight thousand miles. It was a twenty nineteen Ford
- 6:37Speaker 1: Ranger airbbumper. It had some kind of led lights in
- 6:41Speaker 1: the front, It had a winch, It had I'm going
- 6:44Speaker 1: to say thirty three inch tires, It had a go fast,
- 6:47Speaker 1: had some goose.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Gear in the back.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Was like nineteen grand on marketplace.
- 6:50Speaker 2: That's so cheap.
- 6:51Speaker 1: But here's the thing is, like there is such an
- 6:54Speaker 1: opportunity for actual travelers here. Yeah, right, there are a
- 6:59Speaker 1: lot of people, people who got into overlanding as a
- 7:02Speaker 1: as a hobby for like vehicle restyling. I think it's
- 7:06Speaker 1: like polite way to say it. It is a bit
- 7:08Speaker 1: of a look. You know, you put the roof rack on,
- 7:10Speaker 1: you put the Yeah, you.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Look like an adventure. Yeah, a little piece of Indiana
- 7:13Speaker 2: Jones going down.
- 7:14Speaker 1: So so travelers can really benefit from this industry of
- 7:18Speaker 1: automotive restyling and overlanding being like trendy in that space
- 7:23Speaker 1: where a lot of this stuff isn't used. Yeah, market
- 7:27Speaker 1: Facebook marketplaces is a great place to find a lot
- 7:30Speaker 1: of things like this because everybody has their little project
- 7:33Speaker 1: in their little car and they're just not holding their value.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Like I mean, there was a period in which COVID
- 7:40Speaker 1: when this stuff was really scarce, and I hate to
- 7:43Speaker 1: duel on COVID. I'm just saying maybe five years ago
- 7:45Speaker 1: when this industry really went through like a big growth
- 7:47Speaker 1: phace not worth that much anymore, man.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy fraction. Some of the examples that you
- 7:56Speaker 2: like that jeep Wrangler that you found, Oh yeah, yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 2: it's insane. Jeez, where was it? Okay, So.
- 8:06Speaker 1: This sold on Expedition Portal Classifieds. It was listed at
- 8:11Speaker 1: thirty seven thousand or best offer, so twenty eighteen jeep Wrangler.
- 8:17Speaker 1: It had that you know that like super cool AV
- 8:20Speaker 1: heat reduction hood. Yeah, so it had that all painted.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It had an AAV bumper. It had an AV two
- 8:26Speaker 1: and a half inch lift, AAV wheels thirty fives. It
- 8:29Speaker 1: had a four eighty eight regear with AARB air lockers
- 8:34Speaker 1: front and rear and an air compressor Warren weinch.
- 8:39Speaker 2: It had like a full.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Goose gear interior and an URSA minor pop.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Top which is like ten grand in and of itself
- 8:45Speaker 2: are close to it, isn't it.
- 8:46Speaker 1: It's like, it's crazy what some of this stuff can go.
- 8:49Speaker 2: For, didn't he say? The build itself was sixty something.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Grand forty three thousand, six hundred and fifty one and
- 8:56Speaker 1: documented build costs, and the guy put together a really
- 8:58Speaker 1: nice listing.
- 9:00Speaker 2: There is a nice video on it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: It has a Baja Designs light bar like. It has
- 9:06Speaker 1: American Adventure Library retire platform and how you cap two
- 9:09Speaker 1: seventy awning six panel ox Beam Wolfbox Digital Review, mir
- 9:14Speaker 1: Midland Gmrs. She's got an upgraded Stinger touchscreen with CarPlay
- 9:19Speaker 1: airlift for your bag system red ARCTE controller, metal cloak,
- 9:22Speaker 1: diff covers and full underbody protection. Thirty seven thousand or
- 9:29Speaker 1: best offer sold. Probably sold. It should have sold for
- 9:32Speaker 1: thirty seven thousand. Yeah, but I bet you could have
- 9:34Speaker 1: got that for thirty five grand.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Sure, what a deal.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It's crazy. You could buy that car and just like go.
- 9:39Speaker 1: It had sixty six thousand miles on.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's and that Pinastar is plenty reliable. Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I mean I've talked with like Dan Grek on this before,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and everybody's like, oh, you gotta get a land Cruiser,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you gotta an eighty series, and like, no, those are
- 9:51Speaker 1: all classic cars. Like Jeep is actually sold everywhere with
- 9:55Speaker 1: one motor and one spec and you can get parts
- 9:58Speaker 1: anywhere for them. But there were just so many examples.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I found another one that was on the Exhibion Portal forum,
- 10:05Speaker 1: a twenty twenty Jeep Gladiator Rubicon with a Super Pacific
- 10:10Speaker 1: X one camper. You know, this is like the next
- 10:12Speaker 1: generation of the Jeep platform. I had a twenty twenty
- 10:14Speaker 1: Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. It's a sixty thousand dollars vehicle. This
- 10:18Speaker 1: had forty four thousand miles on it with the Super Pacific.
- 10:22Speaker 1: The guy put new thirty five inch Toyo tires and
- 10:25Speaker 1: new Fox two point zero shocks, and it's forty three
- 10:28Speaker 1: thousand dollars. Their best offer, like crazy, a super Pacific
- 10:33Speaker 1: camper by the time you're all said and done is
- 10:35Speaker 1: twenty grand.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Probably.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, so then you're getting a Jeep for twenty grand. Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: buy the buy it, drive it to South America. I
- 10:46Speaker 1: don't know, sell the camper, get a free Jeep or
- 10:50Speaker 1: I had. I saw another one, a twenty sixteen power wagon.
- 10:52Speaker 1: This was interesting. It had one hundred and fifty five
- 10:54Speaker 1: thousand miles on it, but that's a HEMI V eight.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Like if you're able to like look past these mileage things,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you can still get really great vehicles. This had a
- 11:05Speaker 1: four wheel camper Hawk included thirty two thousand dollars.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's thirty grand for just the camper.
- 11:12Speaker 1: The camper you're getting a like you put up with
- 11:14Speaker 1: a little a little rough around the edges, Yeah, a
- 11:16Speaker 1: little use, and you're getting a free heavy duty pickup
- 11:20Speaker 1: truck with the purchase of your.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, ficular. Yeah, and swap the truck out later if
- 11:25Speaker 2: you want to. I don't know.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It's a really interesting period. Like I just bought I'm
- 11:33Speaker 1: on my third av Prospector.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Now you like them. I like them.
- 11:38Speaker 1: They're just done. They're engineered as a system. But this
- 11:41Speaker 1: was a twenty twenty three. It was in the mid
- 11:45Speaker 1: one thirties for an MSRP. It's a pretty stacked truck
- 11:50Speaker 1: and I paid mid seventies for it. Yeah, it's crazy
- 11:53Speaker 1: with I think I had twenty two thousand miles.
- 11:55Speaker 2: So that's crazy what a truck for that.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I was literally going to go get a g That's
- 12:01Speaker 1: what spurred this is I was like, Okay, I'm gonna
- 12:03Speaker 1: go get my GMC Canyon at four.
- 12:06Speaker 2: X AA edition.
- 12:08Speaker 1: You know, they should like give you like one of
- 12:10Speaker 1: those little oxygen cans when you go to say some
- 12:12Speaker 1: of these vehicle names. That with the jounces and the
- 12:18Speaker 1: winch was going to be seventy eight grand MSRP before taxes,
- 12:23Speaker 1: so I was looking they weren't super dealing on them,
- 12:25Speaker 1: so I was looking at eighty five grand for that
- 12:27Speaker 1: truck with taxes in Arizona.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so you got a Prospector on forties.
- 12:32Speaker 1: For less with twenty thousand miles in effect.
- 12:34Speaker 2: And it's a diesel and it's a diesel. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 12:38Speaker 1: It's interesting, But again, I think a lot of this
- 12:40Speaker 1: comes back to the ability for travelers to take advantage
- 12:45Speaker 1: of this kind of stuff.
- 12:46Speaker 2: You know, what do you what are your thoughts on
- 12:49Speaker 2: the classic vehicle, especially like the imported twenty five year
- 12:53Speaker 2: rule trucks? Like what are where do you think those
- 12:56Speaker 2: fit in the or is it just a like a
- 13:00Speaker 2: cool old watch where you just really enjoyed driving it
- 13:02Speaker 2: but you wouldn't it's not the best.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Fit for travel. How much time you got what we've got?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Did I did the imported JDM thing?
- 13:10Speaker 2: You've had a couple imported vehicles. You had the g Wagon?
- 13:13Speaker 1: Oh I had that g Wagon with the Pop eight series. Yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 1: that potdicker has now Okay, So my thought generally gonna
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm going to focus in on like the Japanese stuff,
- 13:26Speaker 1: the same thing happened to the eighty series, that happened
- 13:29Speaker 1: to like Skylines and.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Two forty sx's and stuff.
- 13:33Speaker 1: People get so excited that like, oh, these vehicles are
- 13:35Speaker 1: finally twenty five years old, and there's a huge run
- 13:39Speaker 1: around them. The US market is large enough that it
- 13:43Speaker 1: considerably affects the prices of these vehicles as they get
- 13:47Speaker 1: to twenty five years old. A twenty five year old
- 13:50Speaker 1: defender in Europe or the UK is now a commodity
- 13:54Speaker 1: because there's so many of them coming to the United States.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Sure, So imagine being the defender that gets that brand
- 14:02Speaker 1: new or not brand new, gets that three hundred TDI
- 14:05Speaker 1: and you feel you're feeling so great about it, and
- 14:07Speaker 1: oh I paid premium because it came out in this year. Well,
- 14:11Speaker 1: there's always the next best thing with these imports.
- 14:13Speaker 2: With the high cap, with the TD five or whatever.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so then you go to TD five and then
- 14:17Speaker 1: you're gonna and then you're gonna spend a bunch of
- 14:19Speaker 1: money on a TD five, and then the Puma is
- 14:21Speaker 1: going to become eligible, and then your TD five is
- 14:25Speaker 1: going to be less desirable than that next one. The
- 14:29Speaker 1: eight series came out, Oh I really want the turbo diesel.
- 14:32Speaker 1: We couldn't get those, Okay, Well, then then they went
- 14:35Speaker 1: to the f They went from the one HDT to
- 14:38Speaker 1: the one HD. Anyways, they end up with the one
- 14:42Speaker 1: HD FTE. Well that's the one that you really want.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So now the one HD isn't worth anything because those
- 14:48Speaker 1: started in nineteen ninety one and then these ones were
- 14:51Speaker 1: like nineteen ninety five or something.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yeah, land Cruiser.
- 14:54Speaker 1: People can can critique me in the comments, they just
- 14:59Speaker 1: start to pretty quickly fall off a cliff.
- 15:02Speaker 2: What do you think is the antidote to that? Is
- 15:04Speaker 2: it buying something that's genuinely a classic, like a Defender
- 15:09Speaker 2: or a range Rover Classic, or you know, like for me,
- 15:13Speaker 2: like I've been trolling this this website, jdmf off Road.
- 15:17Speaker 2: This guy, Brian Cox runs this JDM import company in Washington.
- 15:22Speaker 2: There used to be a lot more of these JDM importers,
- 15:24Speaker 2: but like his has been around a while, has some
- 15:28Speaker 2: good reputation. But like he brings in a five door
- 15:32Speaker 2: station Wagon seventy series, but he also brings in all
- 15:37Speaker 2: of these Chimneys. And those who listening to the podcast
- 15:39Speaker 2: know that I have affliction, a bit of a Jimney affliction.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I do love them so
- 15:45Speaker 2: like I've been looking at them, and you can get
- 15:48Speaker 2: like a Jimney like up to nineteen ninety nine and
- 15:51Speaker 2: it looks like an old Samurai, Like it has like
- 15:53Speaker 2: that very boxy shape, and like that's the one that
- 15:57Speaker 2: I want. Whereas the one like in two thousand in
- 16:00Speaker 2: which you can import now it's been completely restyled. It's
- 16:04Speaker 2: just like the one that I drove across the road
- 16:06Speaker 2: with Charlie. But I actually like the older body style,
- 16:10Speaker 2: and I think that the older body style will probably
- 16:13Speaker 2: hold up a little bit better because something that's like
- 16:17Speaker 2: intentionally more modern airbags and everything else like that, it
- 16:19Speaker 2: seems to be more of an appliance. Okay, maybe maybe
- 16:24Speaker 2: I'm just like I'm going to have Jim Love.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I'm going to do a little tangent. I think the
- 16:27Speaker 1: right hand drive thing just limits your audience. There's a
- 16:33Speaker 1: lot of for resale for resale, right, Like you're really
- 16:35Speaker 1: excited about it. You've made an emotional purchase to buy
- 16:39Speaker 1: this vehicle, totally right, and then you go to sell
- 16:42Speaker 1: it and you have to find another buyer that's making
- 16:45Speaker 1: an emotional purchase.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I don't think that.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Any that imported stuff is necessarily like a good investment.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It's personal passion.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Well, I mean think of the think of like the defender,
- 16:58Speaker 1: like with your example, right as like you look away
- 17:01Speaker 1: for a couple of years and all of a sudden, oh,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you're two different revisions for the vehicle. You have two
- 17:09Speaker 1: different revisions of the vehicle available now to you. Oh,
- 17:13Speaker 1: of course, those are the ones they're gonna pull the
- 17:15Speaker 1: good money, you know. But on the classic thing, they're
- 17:19Speaker 1: classic cars. You have to decide if you want to
- 17:22Speaker 1: take a classic car on an overland trip, like twenty
- 17:27Speaker 1: five years is like the like legal definition for a
- 17:30Speaker 1: classic like in Arizona. Sure, that's when you can get
- 17:33Speaker 1: the really cool copper license plate, right, and they kind
- 17:36Speaker 1: of I think. I don't think there's emissions on it
- 17:38Speaker 1: or something. Maybe there's some advantage for it other than
- 17:41Speaker 1: the copper plate. But vehicles that we looked at as
- 17:44Speaker 1: still these Halo vehicles are classic cars now and they
- 17:47Speaker 1: come with classic car problems.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's where I think. Well, even like Scoot
- 17:53Speaker 2: my nineteen seventy one four fifty pickup, which is about
- 17:56Speaker 2: as simple as a vehicle gets and very reliable, Like
- 17:59Speaker 2: you and I were out tinker with that thing this morning,
- 18:01Speaker 2: Like it's it's not like I just like the Quartermaster,
- 18:03Speaker 2: I just hop in. I don't even think about it.
- 18:05Speaker 2: It's a brand new car, so I don't even think
- 18:07Speaker 2: about it. Yeah, whereas this one is like I'm thinking
- 18:09Speaker 2: about it, like I'm checking the oil once a week,
- 18:11Speaker 2: and like I check the oil every time I fill
- 18:13Speaker 2: it up. I'm doing all of these little things to
- 18:15Speaker 2: stay on top of it.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I'll reserve the grenadier jokes. But I don't know, man,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I just think you just have to decide if you want.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Like you're taking a trip with a classic car. A
- 18:22Speaker 1: lot of these vehicles that we look at as like
- 18:24Speaker 1: these modern machines, like they're just old now, and you
- 18:28Speaker 1: have to be ready for that you're dealing with.
- 18:30Speaker 2: The hoses are old, the wises are old.
- 18:32Speaker 1: That's the other thing with like the GDM stuff. Not
- 18:34Speaker 1: to like focus too much on them, but like I
- 18:38Speaker 1: spent an ungodly amount on like seals like transfer case
- 18:44Speaker 1: seals and transmission seals, and you know, you got to
- 18:47Speaker 1: rebuild the axles on all of them, the coolant lines
- 18:50Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff in these vehicles that
- 18:52Speaker 1: is old, like they're complex.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, you're right, those like late nineties cars is
- 18:57Speaker 2: just getting into the modern era. So they have lots
- 19:00Speaker 2: of relays, they have computers, they have you know, they're
- 19:03Speaker 2: not like a three hundred TDI. Like if you can
- 19:06Speaker 2: find a left hand drive three hundred TDI, you could
- 19:09Speaker 2: probably work on that car yourself for the next fifty
- 19:11Speaker 2: years if you want to. Yeah, but if you buy
- 19:14Speaker 2: a t TD five or a Puma for that matter,
- 19:17Speaker 2: it's it's gonna get pretty complex pretty quick. Yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I've been looking at like seventies again, right, my buddy
- 19:25Speaker 1: Eric Dalton, and tell you I just got a really
- 19:27Speaker 1: sweet HC seventy five. And we want to do this, like,
- 19:32Speaker 1: you know, we all keep talking to like kind of
- 19:33Speaker 1: classic overland, like what like going back to, at least
- 19:37Speaker 1: for me, like the heyday of this stuff growing. Get
- 19:40Speaker 1: the angle fridge instead of the Dometic, get the old
- 19:42Speaker 1: school camp chair instead of the Nemo stargazer or whatever.
- 19:45Speaker 1: You know, just kind of go back to basics. So
- 19:48Speaker 1: I've been looking out of like Saudi Arabia, and I've
- 19:51Speaker 1: been talking with this guy Meshall. He splits his time
- 19:54Speaker 1: between Riod and Chicago, so kind.
- 19:56Speaker 2: So the guy who has a ton of followers on
- 19:58Speaker 2: Instagram and brings in these like really super cool stuff.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I know you're talking about so but those
- 20:05Speaker 1: cars now, since they're twenty five years old, they're more
- 20:07Speaker 1: sought after in the GCC, the Gulf State's Cooperative Area.
- 20:12Speaker 1: So Saudi aman uae cutter, Yeah, you know that kind
- 20:16Speaker 1: of thing. So these vehicles are like expensive now, but
- 20:20Speaker 1: I really want one Eric to scott One. You know,
- 20:22Speaker 1: they have these cool like single cab pickups with all
- 20:24Speaker 1: the right options, twin tanks. They're gas not diesel, which,
- 20:28Speaker 1: frankly I kind of like. I think the Toyota diesels
- 20:30Speaker 1: are really reliable but underpowered for North America. But I
- 20:34Speaker 1: realized I could buy a brand new land Cruiser for
- 20:36Speaker 1: less money than this. This twenty five year old car
- 20:39Speaker 1: is going to cost me. Like I found a company
- 20:41Speaker 1: out of the UK and it's like the export price
- 20:44Speaker 1: for a I don't know the exact name, but a
- 20:48Speaker 1: seventy nine series yeah, was thirty nine five hundred dollars.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It was like thirty nine five hundred pounds registered in
- 20:56Speaker 1: the UK. A foreign person like you or me can
- 20:59Speaker 1: register a car in the U.
- 21:00Speaker 2: We can.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So like this is getting away from the tangent a
- 21:03Speaker 1: little bit. But these vehicles are expensive at this twenty
- 21:07Speaker 1: five year old mark.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'm not saying don't do it.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I'm just maybe that maybe the hack is you go
- 21:13Speaker 2: to Europe, go to Portugal, you find a twenty two
- 21:17Speaker 2: or twenty three year old Defender, so it's not hit
- 21:20Speaker 2: the number yet and there's probably more of them available.
- 21:23Speaker 2: You take your pick, you do a little European vacation,
- 21:26Speaker 2: and then you stick it in storage for ten months
- 21:30Speaker 2: or something like that, and you save yourself twenty grand
- 21:32Speaker 2: maybe fifteen grand.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you know you're gonna pay for the
- 21:35Speaker 1: storage obviously. I just saw I read a really interesting
- 21:38Speaker 1: story about the real cost of car ownership and how
- 21:41Speaker 1: much of it is like storage, Like that every car
- 21:44Speaker 1: person in their life runs into this problem of like, cool,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I have everything I want, Now where do I put it?
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yes?
- 21:50Speaker 1: And it's like like it adds up anyway.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and you don't want stuff outside. I mean that's
- 21:55Speaker 2: one of the challenges with my little historic home downtown Prescott.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I have street parking. Yeah, because they didn't have garages
- 22:02Speaker 2: in nineteen fourteen. Well, yeah, should get a horse. Yeah yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 2: it had a bar and attached to it. You know.
- 22:09Speaker 2: So I'm like, I'm looking into like what it would
- 22:11Speaker 2: take to put a garage underneath the house because the
- 22:14Speaker 2: street level is low enough, and it's like that's a
- 22:16Speaker 2: lot of money. That's like buying in another house. Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 2: but yeah, garages are nice.
- 22:21Speaker 1: As I mean, generally I think that people should look
- 22:25Speaker 1: overseas for vehicles more often than they do.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I think.
- 22:30Speaker 1: There is like a romance to building your own vehicle
- 22:33Speaker 1: and like like this personal connection of I drove my
- 22:36Speaker 1: car that I built to the end of the road. Yeah,
- 22:41Speaker 1: it's just like that's a lot of cost.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and imagine. One thing that comes to mind is
- 22:45Speaker 2: like Paul marsh in Cape Town. You know, he's considered
- 22:49Speaker 2: the pre eminent land cruiser builder in all of Southern Africa,
- 22:54Speaker 2: and he's got vehicles that come in after people have
- 22:57Speaker 2: driven from the UK down to South Africa, or or
- 23:01Speaker 2: they somebody prepared a vehicle and they didn't do the trip.
- 23:04Speaker 2: So he has vehicles available and it's built by one
- 23:07Speaker 2: of the guys who's the best in the world at it.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And you save all that shipping like you shave, you
- 23:11Speaker 2: save all of that time. And if you're going to
- 23:14Speaker 2: go up East Africa, it's gonna be right hand drive
- 23:16Speaker 2: countries all the way up to Ethiopia. So you're going
- 23:19Speaker 2: to be really well off with a right hand drive. Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I mean, if I was doing Africa, yeah, I would
- 23:24Speaker 1: just I mean that's what I've done in the past.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Is I just rent something? Yeah, for sure, there are
- 23:29Speaker 1: complexities with bringing your own vehicle there. It's easier to
- 23:32Speaker 1: bring it into Namibia than say, like South Africa if
- 23:35Speaker 1: you're doing like kind of the Southern Africa route, but
- 23:38Speaker 1: rent something, buy something, talk to these people and say, hey,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I'm going to write a check for this vehicle. Will
- 23:43Speaker 1: you give me a buyback in one year? Yeah, you know,
- 23:46Speaker 1: or you just sell it on your own. I mean,
- 23:49Speaker 1: the logistics of shipping are I deal with shipping every day. Man,
- 23:54Speaker 1: It's just gotten so crazy.
- 23:56Speaker 2: And then geopolitical stuff happens. Like when I got to
- 23:58Speaker 2: Djibouti on the East Coast route, I should have been
- 24:01Speaker 2: able to ship what would have been equivalent of four days,
- 24:04Speaker 2: and it ended up taking four weeks because it had
- 24:06Speaker 2: the war in the Middle East kicked off, so the
- 24:09Speaker 2: boat had to go all the way down around the
- 24:12Speaker 2: Horn of Africa. So yeah, you just yeah, shipping is complex. Yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 2: and your stuff doesn't always arrive right, Like things get
- 24:22Speaker 2: damaged and lost and Pilford and your batteries are always dead. Yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 2: for sure, for sure.
- 24:28Speaker 1: But I think that there are just a lot of
- 24:33Speaker 1: opportunities right now for overland travelers to get really nice vehicles.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I mean, I haven't.
- 24:38Speaker 1: We haven't even gone into like the vans or like
- 24:41Speaker 1: the expedition vehicles.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Like, yeah, let's talk about that a little bit, because
- 24:44Speaker 2: these are these are going to be factory built vehicles,
- 24:47Speaker 2: so they're gonna be there's gonna be a service infrastructure
- 24:49Speaker 2: for them, Like if you took it to a storyteller dealer,
- 24:52Speaker 2: they're going to be able to work on the van.
- 24:54Speaker 2: They're going to know where that relay is or where
- 24:57Speaker 2: that fuse panel is.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yeah, vans. Vans are interesting, Like I've always dabbled with
- 25:03Speaker 1: the idea of a van, but I've never I've never
- 25:06Speaker 1: had one. I think that they're probably the sweet spot
- 25:09Speaker 1: for most people.
- 25:11Speaker 2: They'll they so a lot of them for that reason. Yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 1: So, but there's a lot of home built vans out there. Yep,
- 25:17Speaker 1: there's a lot of You really have to watch them.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Like personally, I like the storyteller stuff used. I like
- 25:24Speaker 1: the Winnebago stuff used. I mean, you'll get the field
- 25:26Speaker 1: van field vans, you'll get the van nerds that are like, oh, well,
- 25:29Speaker 1: we're not Bago. I'm like, yeah, dude, but like you
- 25:32Speaker 1: just screwed a two by four into the side of
- 25:34Speaker 1: your car and I can see the woodscrews coming out
- 25:36Speaker 1: of the metal. Like there's so much sketchy stuff with
- 25:39Speaker 1: these vans, particularly like the power systems. You know, like
- 25:43Speaker 1: these guys are doing guys and girls are doing it
- 25:44Speaker 1: while they're traveling or you know, it's like how quickly
- 25:47Speaker 1: we can get this van together to go out on
- 25:49Speaker 1: the road.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Like like if you see a.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Used pro Master that somebody has lived in, run like
- 25:56Speaker 1: those things to begin with, run, but.
- 25:59Speaker 2: They you may get the ponta stomach. I really think
- 26:03Speaker 2: stick to a reputable builder. Well you made the point
- 26:06Speaker 2: not that long ago of like go and you know,
- 26:08Speaker 2: buy a revel. You can get really great financing on it.
- 26:14Speaker 2: You go, do your trip to South America, and you
- 26:16Speaker 2: come back and you sell it as a lightly used
- 26:18Speaker 2: revel that like everybody knows what that is. And like
- 26:21Speaker 2: maybe it costs you twenty grand in depreciation.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, when you say twenty grand out loud, oh it's
- 26:29Speaker 1: going to cost you twenty grand, Like it sounds like
- 26:31Speaker 1: a lot. But let's think of the people that are
- 26:33Speaker 1: selling these vehicles that we're talking about. Oh, you're shipping
- 26:36Speaker 1: two ways as well, Well, they've lost twenty or thirty
- 26:39Speaker 1: grand to like your depreciation comes for everybody unless you
- 26:44Speaker 1: like got a GT THROUGHRS allocation two years ago.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I mean it's.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Maybe even coming for you now. But I'm just looking
- 26:52Speaker 1: looking here on on RV Trader, and I wonder what
- 26:58Speaker 1: you can really I was told that you can get
- 27:01Speaker 1: when a Bigo rebels new with this forty eight full
- 27:04Speaker 1: lithium battery system. It's like that you can get one
- 27:07Speaker 1: or two batteries. The two batteries means you have like
- 27:10Speaker 1: fourteen kilowatts of energy, which is like run the AC
- 27:14Speaker 1: for multiple days kind of thing. When I was looking,
- 27:16Speaker 1: they were like one forty for a new one, and
- 27:21Speaker 1: then like I used one with twenty or thirty thousand
- 27:24Speaker 1: miles would be one thirty one forty, like not a
- 27:28Speaker 1: big range. But you can go on light stream and
- 27:32Speaker 1: get a loan. This isn't like financial advice or anything,
- 27:34Speaker 1: but you go on light Stream, we get an unsecured
- 27:36Speaker 1: loan for one hundred grand. Drive the thing to South America,
- 27:40Speaker 1: drive it back, sell it be done. I think that
- 27:43Speaker 1: that's an interesting thing that a lot of people don't
- 27:45Speaker 1: really And you're really your depreciation is going to be
- 27:48Speaker 1: your shipping. Yeah, like maybe this is more advice for
- 27:51Speaker 1: like retaining residual value. But the more custom you go,
- 27:56Speaker 1: the less residual value you have, like a smaller pool
- 27:59Speaker 1: of buyers exactly. So like global expedition vehicles is the
- 28:03Speaker 1: best example of this. You can have an Earth My
- 28:07Speaker 1: fifteen year old Earth Roomer still sells more for more
- 28:11Speaker 1: than it was new, which.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Is like crazy.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Or you have like some of the Global Expedition vehicles
- 28:17Speaker 1: where they're like Earth Romer had layouts, Earth Cruiser had
- 28:21Speaker 1: layouts and you chose from your layouts and they were standardized,
- 28:24Speaker 1: where a lot of the Global X stuff totally customed
- 28:27Speaker 1: prior to they got acquired, their merged with Storyteller. They're
- 28:31Speaker 1: doing things differently now.
- 28:33Speaker 2: But think about that when you're preparing your vehicle if
- 28:36Speaker 2: you want to resell it. But I think that those
- 28:38Speaker 2: are all like these little tricks that can get you
- 28:42Speaker 2: into something interesting. Not a week goes by that someone
- 28:45Speaker 2: doesn't reach out to ask how they can help support
- 28:48Speaker 2: the podcast. We are supported entirely by Overland Journal the magazine.
- 28:54Speaker 2: So when you become a subscriber to the Overland Journal

- 29:28Speaker 2: employee owned journalism that we have been famous for, so
- 29:32Speaker 2: it allows us to conduct those tests without any advertorial
- 29:36Speaker 2: Another way you can help out too. I produced a
- 29:38Speaker 2: book last year with Simon and Schuster called Overlanding one
- 29:42Speaker 2: oh one. You can find it on Amazon or Barnes
- 29:44Speaker 2: and Noble or even your local bookstore, and that encompasses
- 29:48Speaker 2: my decades of travel around the world, all my mistakes
- 29:51Speaker 2: and failures and the lessons that I've learned in traveling
- 29:55Speaker 2: around the globe. Many of those that you hear on
- 29:58Speaker 2: the podcast have been distilled down into print form with
- 30:01Speaker 2: great lists and beautiful imagery, So you can find that
- 30:05Speaker 2: at your local bookstore. Overlanding one on one And thank
- 30:08Speaker 2: you all for listening and for supporting us. So much
- 30:10Speaker 2: throughout these years. And like another thing too, like a
- 30:15Speaker 2: Global Expedition vehicle built call it ten years ago. Every
- 30:19Speaker 2: single one of them was a one off, so they're
- 30:22Speaker 2: very difficult to service properly. The wiring's is going to
- 30:25Speaker 2: be different on everyone. Whereas if you buy a Global
- 30:27Speaker 2: Expedition vehicle in twenty twenty five or twenty twenty six,
- 30:31Speaker 2: it's got to standardize wiring, harness, limited number of layouts.
- 30:34Speaker 2: The vehicle could be serviced like an earthromer or a storyteller,
- 30:38Speaker 2: or not a storyteller, but like a field van or
- 30:40Speaker 2: anything like that. They're going to know where all of
- 30:42Speaker 2: the stuff is. It's all going to be standardized. So
- 30:45Speaker 2: you want to do a little bit of research on
- 30:47Speaker 2: like why is this car so cheap? There's going to
- 30:49Speaker 2: be a reason. There's going to be a reason why
- 30:51Speaker 2: the cars so cheap.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think like maybe, yeah, don't buy somebody
- 30:56Speaker 1: else's a mistake. Right, we talk about these factory overlanders.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Why do we talk about the factory overlanders because they're
- 31:02Speaker 1: engineered as a system.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yep, right, and they often retaine the warranty the car.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you know again, I don't even get paid by
- 31:10Speaker 1: av but Jesus.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Maybe I should the av for example, it's done as
- 31:15Speaker 2: a system. It all works together.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Like they're considering every aspect of it. Where you'll get
- 31:21Speaker 1: somebody that will put and spend more money. They're building
- 31:24Speaker 1: a cab chassis truck to put a camper on or whatever.
- 31:31Speaker 1: They will spend more money trying to be contrarian and
- 31:34Speaker 1: not do the AEV thing and work out with the
- 31:36Speaker 1: worst product because they'll buy the suspension carly, you know,
- 31:41Speaker 1: they'll buy the dift cover from mag high Tech and
- 31:43Speaker 1: oh boom, the diff cover hits the track bar. So
- 31:47Speaker 1: then they do some weird thing of shaving down the
- 31:50Speaker 1: dift cover or something right like these parts, it can
- 31:54Speaker 1: be a lot of effort and work to make things
- 31:57Speaker 1: work together. Like Jeeps are probably the worst because it'll
- 31:59Speaker 1: be a terorflex shock mount with a.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Yea because there's such an erector set. I mean, jeeps
- 32:06Speaker 2: are so easy to modify DIY that a lot of
- 32:10Speaker 2: people DIY on.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And then there's twelve different brand components in your suspension
- 32:15Speaker 1: and they're all going they're all pointing the other way
- 32:18Speaker 1: as to whose fault it is, right, so you can
- 32:21Speaker 1: you can end up with somebody else's mistake that looks
- 32:24Speaker 1: like good value, right, one hundred thousand dollars invested into
- 32:29Speaker 1: the whatever. Well people love to say invested. It's not
- 32:33Speaker 1: a good investment.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't classify it.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Although that's not a that's not investment advice. I think
- 32:40Speaker 1: what I'm just trying to say is that you'll get
- 32:41Speaker 1: people that it looks like you're going it looks like
- 32:44Speaker 1: a really good deal, but is it right. I see
- 32:47Speaker 1: a lot of like DIY expedition vehicles that are this way.
- 32:51Speaker 1: They'll buy, Oh, hey, I could buy a four wheel
- 32:54Speaker 1: drive F one fifty or F five to fifty and
- 32:56Speaker 1: it's got a van box on the back, and then
- 32:58Speaker 1: they spend hundred thousand dollars in the van box build
- 33:02Speaker 1: out or whatever. But then they still have a work
- 33:05Speaker 1: truck grade F one fifty and a like industrial like
- 33:10Speaker 1: not lift gate the should or on the back, and
- 33:13Speaker 1: there's no insulation, and yeah, you have an insane battery
- 33:16Speaker 1: system that is maybe better than a commercially available vehicle.
- 33:22Speaker 2: But there's always trade offs, and I would think too,
- 33:24Speaker 2: like the biggest trade off that I always think about
- 33:26Speaker 2: when people talk to me about building their own expedition vehicle.
- 33:29Speaker 2: I just ask them how much of your time are
- 33:32Speaker 2: you willing to give for that? Yeah? Because they always
- 33:36Speaker 2: and you know this, You've built a lot of cars.
- 33:38Speaker 2: They always take twice as long and cost twice as
- 33:40Speaker 2: much or somewhere close to that. So like, how are
- 33:44Speaker 2: you willing to spend a year of not traveling to
- 33:47Speaker 2: try to build something that you feel is unique? Whereas
- 33:50Speaker 2: you'd be better off just if you want an expedition camper,
- 33:53Speaker 2: consider an earth romer. If you want a van, consider
- 33:56Speaker 2: a field van or a storyteller or whatever, and just
- 33:58Speaker 2: go buy that thing and off you go go see
- 34:01Speaker 2: the world. It's like the one thing that we can't
- 34:03Speaker 2: get back is time and the number of people that
- 34:06Speaker 2: I have seen build custom expedition campers and they can
- 34:10Speaker 2: spend years building them out, and then they go on
- 34:13Speaker 2: their trip and they come back and they try to
- 34:15Speaker 2: sell it, and it's like it's usually it's bad. It's
- 34:18Speaker 2: usually just like well.
- 34:19Speaker 1: And they'll try and sell them like they're trying to
- 34:22Speaker 1: again recoup their investment. And like I can't fault people,
- 34:27Speaker 1: Like I mean, here I am like sitting from my
- 34:28Speaker 1: golden tower or something.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Right, but you've gained a lot of experience when you
- 34:33Speaker 2: and you're telling people that.
- 34:35Speaker 1: When you drive a vehicle around the world, it's not
- 34:39Speaker 1: worth as much as what it was when it left.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I don't know how to tell you this. Like your
- 34:46Speaker 1: your let's pick a good roof tent, the aluecab rooftent
- 34:50Speaker 1: you put on your jeep to drive around the world
- 34:52Speaker 1: in that you paid thirty five hundred dollars for is
- 34:56Speaker 1: not worth thirty five hundred dollars when you're done, like
- 34:59Speaker 1: you fart in it for two years.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Straight, exactly, Like, yeah, exactly.
- 35:05Speaker 1: There's a there's depreciation that comes when somebody else has
- 35:08Speaker 1: dropped their boys off in that toilet.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's just comes with use. Like everything has a lifespan, but.
- 35:17Speaker 2: You're still better off with Like imagine if you had
- 35:20Speaker 2: an earth Roamer. Let's just use this an example. In
- 35:23Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, you buy an earth Roamer and you drive
- 35:28Speaker 2: that sucker down to and you ship it back. It's
- 35:33Speaker 2: probably if you look at a couple of years ago,
- 35:36Speaker 2: it's probably worth more than what you paid for it.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And you got to go drive it to Ushwaya for free.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Basically, yeah, where somebody that maybe tried to build their
- 35:45Speaker 1: own yep. Half I yeah, I just don't think that
- 35:48Speaker 1: it ever really works out, like the cost always comes due.
- 35:53Speaker 1: And some people, some people get a lot of enjoyment
- 35:55Speaker 1: out of building totally their vehicles.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Like I just know what you're doing when you go
- 35:58Speaker 2: into it.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Natural look at like the expedition vehicle stuff because I'm
- 36:03Speaker 1: just I'm really interested in it.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And there are some people doing.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Some really great work, Like there's one in particular I
- 36:09Speaker 1: think of if that came for sale, like I would
- 36:11Speaker 1: maybe I would like it's done really well. I think
- 36:14Speaker 1: it's easier when you start talking like light truck, Like
- 36:17Speaker 1: if we move back to the Ranger, the Wrangler, the Gladiator,
- 36:22Speaker 1: the Tacoma, there are a lot of these vehicles out
- 36:25Speaker 1: there that have never been used for the intended purpose
- 36:28Speaker 1: that you can swoop up. Like again, not to not
- 36:32Speaker 1: to poopoo the traveler that's actually used their stuff that's
- 36:35Speaker 1: trying to do it, but I'm going to exaggerate a
- 36:40Speaker 1: little bit. Half the time, those guys want more for
- 36:42Speaker 1: their stuff.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Then like the car that I want to buy and
- 36:47Speaker 1: the car that you should buy is Bob sixty five,
- 36:51Speaker 1: recently retired from IBM, decided to build an overland vehicle,
- 36:56Speaker 1: used it a couple of weekends a year by his stuff.
- 36:59Speaker 2: For sure, they don't buy my stuff, don't. It's been
- 37:02Speaker 2: around the world, yeah, for sure, you know.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And then also a lot of times influencers and travelers
- 37:10Speaker 1: will try to trade on notoriety and that never works out.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I mean, you may feel you should look at that
- 37:19Speaker 1: like a donation. You want to support this traveler, and
- 37:23Speaker 1: maybe that's weird to say, but well it's fair.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I think that there's some people like the fact that
- 37:27Speaker 2: somebody that they respect owned it and it's part of
- 37:30Speaker 2: their deal.
- 37:31Speaker 1: I think that there's a few like iconic vehicles kind
- 37:33Speaker 1: of floating around, like you know, when you know, I mean,
- 37:37Speaker 1: dare say, like when the Exo vehicles go for sale,
- 37:40Speaker 1: you know, I mean, there's a little bit of a
- 37:43Speaker 1: cachet to it. I mean, but look at what those
- 37:45Speaker 1: vehicles sell for. There's some of the best built expedition
- 37:48Speaker 1: toyotas money can buy, and they still sell for half
- 37:52Speaker 1: of what it costs to build them probably, you know.
- 37:54Speaker 1: And it's that's not charity that like, oh well we
- 37:56Speaker 1: got these parts as part of our job. That's just
- 37:58Speaker 1: like the value so yeah, I think that there is
- 38:04Speaker 1: an interesting opportunity for a lot of travelers to get
- 38:07Speaker 1: into very nice vehicles.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Right now. The Ranger idea that you brought up, that
- 38:13Speaker 2: one really was interesting to me because Rangers are sold
- 38:17Speaker 2: around the world. There's well represented four dealerships around the world.
- 38:22Speaker 2: So if you bought like a four or five year
- 38:24Speaker 2: old Ranger and you get it with the four cylinder,
- 38:27Speaker 2: or you get it you get it with a smaller motor,
- 38:31Speaker 2: and you just put like a very simple camper in
- 38:34Speaker 2: the back of it, you know, like a four wheel
- 38:35Speaker 2: camper or something like that, and off you go. Holy cow,
- 38:39Speaker 2: you come back. You sell the camper separately. It's not
- 38:43Speaker 2: a super integrated car. The camper is going to sell
- 38:46Speaker 2: st Yeah, the camper is going to sell for some money.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Maybe you keep the truck, you know, or maybe you
- 38:50Speaker 2: sell the truck and you lose a couple grand into preciation,
- 38:53Speaker 2: but like, what a sweet deal. Another one would probably
- 38:57Speaker 2: be the Tacoma because the Tacomas have such great resale.
- 38:59Speaker 2: But like, you buy like a new Tacoma, put a
- 39:04Speaker 2: go Fast on the back of it, drive it to
- 39:06Speaker 2: shwaya ship it back. Like I don't think you're going
- 39:08Speaker 2: to lose that much money. Yeah.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I mean that's a really good point, is that there
- 39:11Speaker 1: are some vehicles that historically just hold their value so well.
- 39:15Speaker 1: It doesn't it doesn't make a whole lot of sense
- 39:18Speaker 1: to look at used because again there is like this
- 39:21Speaker 1: cost per mile, Like I don't know who would buy
- 39:26Speaker 1: like a two year old Tacoma instead of a new one.
- 39:29Speaker 1: But they're nearly the same price.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they're so expensive.
- 39:33Speaker 1: If you are a cash buyer, maybe maybe they say
- 39:36Speaker 1: some taxes, you say some taxes in some states, or
- 39:39Speaker 1: you save a little bit of initial depreciation hit. But
- 39:42Speaker 1: if you're financing, sometimes the promotional rate on the new
- 39:46Speaker 1: car can be more advantageous than the worst rate on
- 39:50Speaker 1: the used car.
- 39:52Speaker 2: And then you got the newest, coolest thing. Yeah, I mean,
- 39:55Speaker 2: imagine like if you got like a trail hunter Tacoma.
- 39:58Speaker 2: So it's got the snorkel, it's got the AIRB bumper,
- 40:00Speaker 2: it's got like the nice wheels, the cool tires, it's
- 40:03Speaker 2: got airb suspension in it. It's like you you put
- 40:07Speaker 2: so fast camper on and off you go, and like
- 40:10Speaker 2: what a cool rig. And you can like stock, you
- 40:14Speaker 2: can put thirty three's on those things, so you could
- 40:15Speaker 2: put like a like a two fifty five eighty or
- 40:18Speaker 2: seventeen on there for a tall, narrow tire, and like
- 40:22Speaker 2: off you go.
- 40:23Speaker 1: There's even some like great budget, like really budget examples
- 40:26Speaker 1: that I think are still interesting. It just sold on
- 40:30Speaker 1: the exhibition Pearl Forum, but it's a two thousand and
- 40:32Speaker 1: six Land Rover LR three. The l R three l
- 40:35Speaker 1: R four is actually proving itself in age quite well. Yeah,
- 40:39Speaker 1: cause they were they were well made. I love the
- 40:42Speaker 1: silhouette of them. They're just a classically styled four by four.
- 40:47Speaker 1: And then Jerry McGovern happened exactly thankful he's gone. Yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 1: So it was four thousand dollars. It had I'm gonna
- 40:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna check because it seemed it seemed crazy that
- 41:00Speaker 1: you could buy this vehicle for the cost of a
- 41:02Speaker 1: roof tent.
- 41:04Speaker 2: So it had.
- 41:07Speaker 1: One hundred and eleven thousand miles on it, four thousand dollars,
- 41:11Speaker 1: had an airb bumper, a twelve thousand pound of winch,
- 41:14Speaker 1: and it had the HD package with the rear locker.
- 41:17Speaker 2: That was an LR three L three. Yeah, so that's
- 41:19Speaker 2: a BMW motor.
- 41:20Speaker 1: It's four thousand dollars that's a lot of money if
- 41:24Speaker 1: you have zero dollars, but that's very attainable.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Like there's just and you're driving a land Rover, swap it,
- 41:30Speaker 2: swap out the ear suspension for coils, and like.
- 41:32Speaker 1: These land Rovers have depreciated so much that like, yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 1: they're not as reliable as a Toyota, but it's almost
- 41:41Speaker 1: worth it. I was looking at like range Rovers, like
- 41:45Speaker 1: you can get a sub seventy five thousand mile range
- 41:49Speaker 1: Rover if you look on Craigslist, Like I'm talking like
- 41:52Speaker 1: twenty fourteen, twenty seventeen, nice car, fifteen grand. That's a
- 41:56Speaker 1: nice car. That's a really nice car. Like they're that bad,
- 42:01Speaker 1: Like the range Rovers aren't, no, horrible.
- 42:04Speaker 2: No, it was their Pinnacle vehicles, so they really did
- 42:07Speaker 2: what they could. But the problem is they have these
- 42:09Speaker 2: electronic screens and the screen goes out and you're like
- 42:11Speaker 2: I have no idea how fast you're going. Like they're
- 42:15Speaker 2: problematic for sure, but like a great example was like
- 42:18Speaker 2: that L three twenty two that I had from two
- 42:20Speaker 2: thousand and four or five something like that, Like that
- 42:23Speaker 2: car was great, Like, well passed one hundred thousand miles.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Great car.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Yeah, So I think I think that there's some I'm
- 42:31Speaker 1: going to use the word contrarian again. I think that
- 42:33Speaker 1: there's some some things that maybe wouldn't make a huge
- 42:36Speaker 1: amount of sense, but still makes sense because they're so cheap.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I mean, an LR four with one hundred and eleven
- 42:41Speaker 1: thousand miles, do a basic service on it, drive it
- 42:45Speaker 1: around the world, and I don't know, light it on
- 42:47Speaker 1: fire or something like that can be the registration cost
- 42:52Speaker 1: of a lot of newer vehicles.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, for sure. Or don't donated to charity at
- 42:56Speaker 2: the end of it.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you know, you could you could help people,
- 42:59Speaker 1: or or you could light it on fire for comedic
- 43:01Speaker 1: relief for your Instagram following. I will let the listeners
- 43:06Speaker 1: decide what is a more ethical option. Yeah, everything has
- 43:11Speaker 1: its merits. Actually don't it'd be really bad for the environment.
- 43:17Speaker 1: But there are just a lot of options out there.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I mean, vans, exhibition vehicles, I'm going to call them
- 43:24Speaker 1: light trucks. The classics are kind of fun, although really expensive.
- 43:29Speaker 2: I thought, what about what would you say, is like
- 43:31Speaker 2: if you were to pick like your top three, four
- 43:33Speaker 2: or five vehicles like in this genre because you've looked
- 43:37Speaker 2: at so much recently, Like if somebody who was like, hey,
- 43:40Speaker 2: I really just want to travel around the world. What
- 43:43Speaker 2: would you recommend that they get used?
- 43:45Speaker 1: Let's can we do Let's break this down and then
- 43:47Speaker 1: we'll kind of end there. So you have like your
- 43:50Speaker 1: your light truck you know, I'm saying like light truck
- 43:53Speaker 1: tire thing. You have your vans, and you have like
- 43:55Speaker 1: your expedition vehicles. So Ford Ranger keeps coming up from
- 44:01Speaker 1: me like you're not paying the toyotattacks, you're getting global serviceability.
- 44:06Speaker 1: They've been out for long enough. They were the Ford
- 44:11Speaker 1: Rangers been in America forever. It wasn't here for a while.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I don't know what year that they came back, not
- 44:17Speaker 1: that long ago, maybe ten years ago. Team yeah, maybe
- 44:19Speaker 1: ten years ago. Call it that first quot air quotes,
- 44:23Speaker 1: first generation when they came back. That was a global platform.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I keep looking at those. You put an Airby bumper
- 44:29Speaker 1: on it. There's proven suspension options. Some of them have
- 44:32Speaker 1: payloads where you could consider a small four wheel.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Camper totally get the six range.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but pretty much all of them can accept a
- 44:42Speaker 1: four wheel cam or a go fast camper or an
- 44:45Speaker 1: at camper.
- 44:46Speaker 2: A lot of them had rear locker options.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Yeah, they are like half the price of its a
- 44:51Speaker 1: coma for I'm being very generalized here and I don't
- 44:56Speaker 1: think that they're half the truck. So I would look
- 44:58Speaker 1: at those. I think that the twenty five hundreds, if
- 45:01Speaker 1: you're going to do a twenty five hundreds and thirty
- 45:04Speaker 1: five hundreds, that RAMHD is a really great option. They're
- 45:07Speaker 1: really simple for overseas travel. That chassis is bomb proof.
- 45:12Speaker 1: You're not going to break a data sixty of landing.
- 45:15Speaker 1: If you are doing something wrong, reconsider your actions, and
- 45:18Speaker 1: you can put a camper in the back. Those are
- 45:20Speaker 1: the two things that I would look at.
- 45:22Speaker 2: What about an SUV? What would you pick for an suv? Oh?
- 45:26Speaker 1: Boy, I love the sound of that four thousand dollars
- 45:29Speaker 1: Dan Rover. They're just nice vehicles. I think that that's
- 45:32Speaker 1: a great option. Honestly, I'd probably look at a wrangler.
- 45:35Speaker 1: You know, part of the whole point of this podcast
- 45:36Speaker 1: is Wow, you can get really good value on the
- 45:38Speaker 1: used market, and there are so many wranglers out there.
- 45:41Speaker 1: You can find them with URSA minors. I found two
- 45:44Speaker 1: of them today on exhibition portal.
- 45:46Speaker 2: And wranglers and gladiators have had some really distinct price
- 45:50Speaker 2: depreciation because which is unusual historically. Yeah, about a year ago,
- 45:56Speaker 2: Jeep did these crazy deals on the Gladiators where you
- 45:58Speaker 2: could I looked at a gladiator like a standard model head,
- 46:01Speaker 2: air conditioning and stuff like a Willie's or something like that,
- 46:04Speaker 2: and it was about forty two grand. So that forced
- 46:08Speaker 2: everything else in the US market down way down, so
- 46:12Speaker 2: that you know, that's a that's a hell of a truck,
- 46:14Speaker 2: brand new. You can't get them today that price, but
- 46:16Speaker 2: for a while they had a lot of excess inventory.
- 46:19Speaker 2: That was a hell of a deal. Yeah.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I love Jeeps for overlanding. They're very simple and
- 46:26Speaker 1: if they have a problem, there are five hundred aftermarket
- 46:29Speaker 1: companies that solved it for you.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Yeah, ten years ago they solved it.
- 46:32Speaker 1: It is small inside, so you have to like that's
- 46:35Speaker 1: the big thing. That's so nice about the Grenadier right
- 46:37Speaker 1: as it's just bigger and slice name footprint on the
- 46:40Speaker 1: light truck thing. Yeah, I think that if we're talking
- 46:44Speaker 1: good value here today, and I don't think that the
- 46:47Speaker 1: Japanese imports qualify for that when I look at what
- 46:51Speaker 1: it to take the chymney, except for the chimney, except
- 46:54Speaker 1: for the jimneys that Scott wants that's great. I think
- 46:58Speaker 1: that if you look at like a seventy series troop carrier, right,
- 47:01Speaker 1: like the troop carrier that when we had one in Australia,
- 47:05Speaker 1: I think I paid fifteen thousand Australian dollars for it.
- 47:07Speaker 1: That's going to sell for forty to fifty thousand dollars here,
- 47:11Speaker 1: So you're you're spending a lot. And I think if
- 47:13Speaker 1: you're looking at that, buy it overseas.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Yeah, flight to Australia and buy it, and then maybe
- 47:18Speaker 2: ship at home.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah, South America, Like there's a lot of options for that,
- 47:22Speaker 1: and then you get a left hand drive in South
- 47:23Speaker 1: America vans. I love the Winnebago rebels used. They're starting
- 47:28Speaker 1: to get into the eighty thousand dollars point. If you're
- 47:30Speaker 1: not going overseas, you can finance them as a as
- 47:33Speaker 1: an RV at like a twenty year note. I think
- 47:36Speaker 1: that that makes.
- 47:37Speaker 2: It would be there be a restriction on taking it overseas.
- 47:39Speaker 2: You think usually if.
- 47:41Speaker 1: You don't own the vehicle, you can't take it overseas.
- 47:44Speaker 1: That you have to like hold that title free and clear. Yeah,
- 47:47Speaker 1: that has always been my Maybe that's decuted in common sense.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Maybe there's exceptions to it. There probably are exceptions too.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I'm sure you can get bank approval. I think that
- 47:56Speaker 1: those are cool because they're upgrade dole, they're sprinters, they're
- 48:01Speaker 1: used every single day. Yeah, I think that those really
- 48:05Speaker 1: stand out in the van world as being you know,
- 48:07Speaker 1: the first generation rebels have a couple issues, and then
- 48:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm going to add one here. Just used
- 48:16Speaker 1: campers are great. Like there's an Earth Cruiser Gazelle four
- 48:21Speaker 1: hundred for thirty thousand dollars. That's something that would go
- 48:23Speaker 1: in the back of like a Tundra. Yeah, I don't
- 48:26Speaker 1: know why I didn't mention Tundra for the another grade truck,
- 48:29Speaker 1: the light truck. That's that's another phenomenal choice. Two hundred
- 48:32Speaker 1: series with a pickup d basically.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I would probably if I was looking at a
- 48:37Speaker 2: used vehicle to drive around the world, I'd probably try
- 48:39Speaker 2: to get one of those, you know, like a lightly
- 48:42Speaker 2: used land Cruiser two fifty. Find one that's a year
- 48:46Speaker 2: old or so, you're gonna be able to service it
- 48:48Speaker 2: everywhere in the world. And they're not that expensive, like
- 48:51Speaker 2: I've seen them used in the high forties, low fifties
- 48:54Speaker 2: and that's a really great car. Any two hundred series
- 48:57Speaker 2: land Cruiser is going to be a good choice and
- 48:59Speaker 2: it's gonna be worth money when you get it back
- 49:01Speaker 2: to the US. Ye, if you can dare to part
- 49:03Speaker 2: with it. But that's the problem with the two hundred.
- 49:05Speaker 2: You just want to drive it till you fall apart,
- 49:07Speaker 2: not the car. Yeah, I would, I would look at that.
- 49:10Speaker 2: I do like your range. I think you make a
- 49:12Speaker 2: really strong argument for the Ranger, probably even more so
- 49:15Speaker 2: than the Tacoma. Another option if you wanted something older,
- 49:18Speaker 2: would be any Forerunner. Again, just hold their value so
- 49:21Speaker 2: well so when you get it back, it's still going
- 49:23Speaker 2: to be where some money as long as you don't
- 49:24Speaker 2: overdo it.
- 49:25Speaker 1: And there's so many of these vehicles that people have
- 49:27Speaker 1: already modified that you can buy. Like, it's not hard
- 49:29Speaker 1: to find, I think, I mean, lifting a car costs
- 49:32Speaker 1: a lot of money.
- 49:33Speaker 2: You can find.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Maybe this is because we live in Arizona, but like
- 49:36Speaker 1: it's probably easier to find a Tacoma Tundra Forerunner that's
- 49:41Speaker 1: lifted than one that's completely stocked.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Totally, and it's in Arizona, so it's not got any corrosion. Yeah, people,
- 49:47Speaker 2: I mean they drive fast in Arizona, but they don't.
- 49:49Speaker 1: That's another Another thing is that people will build. They'll
- 49:53Speaker 1: find their dream truck that they want to build, but
- 49:55Speaker 1: they don't get one from the Southwest. And yeah, I'm
- 49:58Speaker 1: super jaded on this, but no one wants to buy
- 50:01Speaker 1: your used camper that you've peed in for two years
- 50:05Speaker 1: and smells, especially when it's rusty. Yeah, likely if it
- 50:11Speaker 1: came from Maryland, Like, you're not gonna sell it, Like
- 50:16Speaker 1: the person that has one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 50:19Speaker 1: to buy the built up whatever, Like they're gonna buy
- 50:22Speaker 1: the one that doesn't have rust yep.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Like even like Scoot that I bought about a year ago,
- 50:28Speaker 2: it's got enough rust where it's not gonna be it's
- 50:30Speaker 2: not gonna be a forever car. Or maybe it'll just
- 50:32Speaker 2: be a forever pickup truck for me. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 50:35Speaker 2: I'm just gonna do basic maintenance to it and enjoy
- 50:37Speaker 2: driving it, because I do super enjoy driving it. But
- 50:40Speaker 2: I realize that this isn't the vehicle that I should
- 50:43Speaker 2: be turning into a fool drive and putting fancy axles on. Yeah,
- 50:46Speaker 2: like I shouldn't be investing in the car by the Tundra.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Don't buy the one that lived in the suburbs of
- 50:52Speaker 1: New Jersey and drove potholed roll roads every day and
- 50:56Speaker 1: covered in salt.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Yeah, by the by the Tucson Tundra, or the find
- 51:00Speaker 2: the old guy, Yeah, the sixty five year old dude.
- 51:03Speaker 2: You're right. They worked for IBM.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're out there on expedition vehicles. The things
- 51:08Speaker 1: that I think are really good value right now. The
- 51:11Speaker 1: Earth Cruisers, you know they've gone through. I don't really
- 51:15Speaker 1: know what's going on with Earth Cruiser, Like, I think
- 51:17Speaker 1: they're back.
- 51:18Speaker 2: But they're only making slide ends at the moment. Yeah,
- 51:21Speaker 2: but they were really well built. They were really well built.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Lance really cared about building an expedition vehicle, like a
- 51:27Speaker 2: true go around the world expedition vehicles. So if you
- 51:31Speaker 2: can get one of the older ones with a diesel, yeah,
- 51:33Speaker 2: you're you're in good shape.
- 51:35Speaker 1: The older EX and FX models, like they're some of
- 51:39Speaker 1: them I've seen sell in the mid one fifties, and
- 51:42Speaker 1: that's a lot of vehicle.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Usually these are low miles that would be cool. Those
- 51:47Speaker 2: are all of a deal. Those are great value.
- 51:49Speaker 1: And I still think I know I talk about a lot.
- 51:51Speaker 1: If you're in that price bracket looking for the type
- 51:53Speaker 1: of vehicle, you cannot buy or you could not build
- 51:57Speaker 1: an earth roamer, even something that remotely looks like it,
- 52:01Speaker 1: for the cost of a new one.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:03Speaker 1: There again in that one seventy five to three fifty
- 52:07Speaker 1: range for an older one, and they were really well built,
- 52:10Speaker 1: and there's.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Built like a ship, like a boat.
- 52:13Speaker 1: I mean think what a what a forty thousand mile
- 52:16Speaker 1: f five point fifty with air suspension and whatever, just that,
- 52:21Speaker 1: just that chassis would cost you a lot of money.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Used.
- 52:24Speaker 1: We're in this golden age where there's all of this
- 52:26Speaker 1: stuff out there, and we do we do have a
- 52:28Speaker 1: lot of options. There's so many options. Yeah, overlanding requires
- 52:33Speaker 1: some savings, but it is a much smarter option to
- 52:38Speaker 1: buy used to buy something that was already built well
- 52:42Speaker 1: than it is to go out there and do it
- 52:44Speaker 1: on your own.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and don't trade your time for status. You know,
- 52:48Speaker 2: if you want to travel and see the world, get
- 52:51Speaker 2: something that you can afford, that's really affordable even and
- 52:54Speaker 2: go and get like head off on your trip. Go
- 52:58Speaker 2: with something that's more simple than more complet x. Go
- 53:01Speaker 2: with something that has better resell value. For when you
- 53:03Speaker 2: get back. Try not to make your car resell proof.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I mean, don't paint it purple or whatever, or don't
- 53:08Speaker 2: buy the purple one to begin with, you know, think
- 53:10Speaker 2: about all those things when you when you do it,
- 53:12Speaker 2: and save your money for putting gas in it and
- 53:14Speaker 2: go into museums and shipping it from continent to continent. Yeah,
- 53:18Speaker 2: and you can do that, totally can absolutely. This was great, Matt. Yeah,
- 53:22Speaker 2: you're yeah, you have so much knowledge on this subject.
- 53:25Speaker 2: We could have done Yeah, we could have done three
- 53:27Speaker 2: hours on this one for sure. Yea. So we'd love
- 53:30Speaker 2: to hear if you found a smoking deal or if
- 53:33Speaker 2: you have a different recommendation than what we brought up.
- 53:36Speaker 2: We'd love to hear about it so we can share
- 53:37Speaker 2: it on social media. You can reach Matt on Instagram
- 53:42Speaker 2: at Matt Explore, and you can reach me on Instagram
- 53:44Speaker 2: at Scott dot a dot Brady. You can check out
