Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville jackwars fans welcome in to do vault daily presented by jing jack.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now we were talking about some injury updates we received from practice and and from Liam Cohen who spoke with the media yesterday right now.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are in a fairly good spot when it comes to, I think, the injury front.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple to monitor for early in the season where you might be missing a couple key contributors, but on the whole, I think the Jaguars are in a good spot heading into this 2026 season and that's a great thing.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's where you want to be.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll go ahead and get into it.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: But first, really appreciate y'all being here.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button, helps out a ton.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: So your two wider severs that are dealing with little injury situations here.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr., he went down.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, in the first, after the first play of Joint Practice with the Bucks, where he scored a touchdown, got open, Trevor Lawrence had him for a touchdown.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: That was very impressive.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: He came down on his shoulder, and he was limited after that throughout the rest of training camp, which was only a couple of days, and then, uh, or a really one day.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then yesterday, according to Liam Cohen, good to go.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like,
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: full practice for Brian Thomas Jr., which is obviously what you want to see.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr. is a player who dealt with injury a lot last year and kind of played through it.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: He did miss a little bit of time, but he's a guy that I don't think you want to say he can't play through injury, but it really hampered him last year.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think that his maturity level is higher now.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that his preparation and focus is higher now is understanding of the offense,
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that if he had to play through some things, it could go better this year than it did last year.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: But he's one of those just alpha athletes, absolutely runs like the wind, and you want him out full strength, then the Jag war is believe he is out full strength right now, which is huge, because you've got this comeback bid for Brian Thomas Jr., how to disappoint a year.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think finished stronger down the stretch for the Jag war in a role that was more on the vertical plane.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: complimentary to his skill set and to the rest of his skill sets on the jaguar's roster.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: So the fact that he is good to go, like, you know, when you saw him kind of struggle to get up with that shoulder, it was pretty nerve wracking, right?
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: But the fact that he's good to go, I think, is huge.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have Jacobi Myers.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: who jammed his finger the the week before the bucks joint practice so missed a little bit of time there but he was limited and Liam Cohen said, you know, he's good to go.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: So both of those guys will be full strength so the Jaguar's receiving group Brian Thomas Jr. Jacobie Myers, Parker Washington.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Britain's strange Travis Hunter, when he's out there as a receiver, Josh Cameron, CJ Williams, feels like you're at full strength with those skill position guys, and then also, you have your top two running backs as well.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: One player you might not have is Liquid Allen,
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: group of skill position talent on the offensive side of the ball for an offense that has, you know, goals to be probably the best in the league and put up an insane amount of points and be very difficult to defend in a lot of ways.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a really good deal.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin Lannon.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: This one is a more interesting situation.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, for the Jaguar's offense to be completely at full strength, you need Cole Van Lannon out there.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: You need him healthy and playing the way he was playing down the stretch last year.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: Murray's getting a little riled up over here.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: She does not like to hear about offensive line injuries, but Cole Van Lannon, Liam Cohen said he's hopeful that he can play against the Browns in week one, which is now like 10 days away from that football game.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: you know, me and Jerry week 18 against the Titans and was rehabbing all off season and didn't really start practicing until like last week and got off the pub, you know, the week before that, I think Friday it was, but
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen said earlier in the summer that for Colvin land and to be able to play, he needs to go out and have a good week of practice where he's looking like himself and kind of fire on all cylinders.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Again, hopeful.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: Does it feel like it's a lock for him to play in any stretch of the imagination?
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen was asked about, uh, who would be the swing tackle if Colvin Lannon cannot play in in week one, and he said it would be why at mylam, which I think some people took to mean that why at mylam
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, would be the starting tackle, which I don't think that's the case.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, Anton obviously a left tackle.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: Why am I loom as the swing tackle?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then I would assume that Walker little would be the starting tackle in that situation.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: But Cohen also mentioned, you know, even if Van Lannon,
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: can't start that game, they could have him active and be ready to go in case of emergency type of situation.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: So definitely one that we're going to be monitoring, my guess is we're just not going to really have a good idea until game time.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be a game time decision and Liam Cohen said as much regarding Cole Van Lannan.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: You would like to have him out there.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: but you also want to have the best plan for him getting back from injury for him returning to actually playing in a meaningful game.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to throw him out there if he's not ready.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: So that's just when we're going to monitor, like you'll get the Wednesday injury report next week.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I imagine it'll say that he's limited.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: and then probably same thing Thursday, probably same thing Friday, and he'll probably be questionable going into the game.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he could get ruled out, I guess, that's possible, too, before.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: But they're saying it's going to be a game time decision and all likelihood, and that's just kind of where we're at on that situation.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: Did one of our mind y'all, the my book, he locked the season as back first one as an absolute no-brainer.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: with the Patriots in Seattle for NFL Kickoff.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: My bookie is asking one simple question.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Will the Seahawks raise their championship banner that night?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: They're defending champs, home opener, raising the banner before kickoff is part of the celebration.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And you're getting that bet at plus money odds.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting paid to say yes.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: The Seahawks will do the thing the entire night is built around.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's the first my bookie lock of the season.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: And there'll be more coming all season long.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Get in before kickoff, sign in, but my bookie.

- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: BTJ, Jakobi, good to go, Coleman, Lannan, very much like up in the air at this point.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: The one that feels very, very likely to not be a go, is Liquan Allen.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's third running back, he is their pass pro and receiving back that's kind of his specialty.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: I would also say his specialty is just being an enforcer, someone who is going to go out there and knock some guys around and play with full effort and that's obviously a great
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, energy that he provides for the jackwars, but beyond that energy, like being a really good pass protection back and a really good receiving back is kind of his calling card.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen said that he would be pleasantly surprised if LeQuin Allen is ready to go.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: and week one, that he would probably also be a game time decision, but if Lickland Allen cannot go in that game, the Jag wars kind of look at Chris Rodriguez as a player who has stepped up and done a really good job in past protection.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: Amir Abdullah, as a player that can do a lot of receiving, I think Bacial Tutan will be asked to do all of those things as well, but they want to get the ball in Bacial Tutan's hands as well.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris Rodriguez is also going to be a short yardage back.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would think that
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: You wouldn't want to be super predictable.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like if Chris Rodriguez out there on a pass play and he's not running any routes ever, that's too predictable.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: A mirror of Dula, if he's out there on a pass play and he's only coming out of the backfield, that's a little too predictable as well.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they'll mix it up a little bit, but the basic roles and assignments will be that, if Liquid Allen cannot go.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I do imagine you'll see a lot of basal tuten and a lot of Chris Rodriguez with a little bit of a mirror of Dula sprinkled in there.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: That would be my guess.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Kaiser, he was warming up with a helmet, I wasn't out there, but according to Ryan O'Hallerin with the team on Wednesday, he's obviously on the practice squad, but as a fourth round pick in 25, I think the Jaguar still do have expectations for him as a future contributor for their football team and they would like to get him back and somebody who I think did a good job on special teams as a rookie and
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: Just didn't get the opportunity to kind of take a step forward during training camp because he went down I think it was one of the first few plays of camp and missed all of camp.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: So good to see him kind of making his way back.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of fans have kind of probably moved on from thinking about Jack Kaiser as a future contributor, but I don't think that that is the belief inside the building even though he was placed on the practice squad.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was just one of those things where to make the active roster, the 53, you have to earn it and unfortunately, Jack Kaiser just wasn't able to do that because he was injured and other guys really did step up, you know, specifically at Edge and some other spots.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, Jack Kaiser good to see him kind of making his way back.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Did one of our mind, Patrick McCary, short-term IR, the Jaguar, expect him back shortly after that window opens after the four games.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: He's required
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's also on short-term IR.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see when they're able to get him back and kind of how that would potentially complicate the edge room because it seems like Xector Fiumbry and Thomas Jr. We're kind of competing for that last edge spot.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: What happens there?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know, exactly.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars will cross that bridge when they get to it.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then Parker, he used the rookie 7th round pick landbacker.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: He is out for the year on IR just something to keep in mind and remember.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I did want to touch on before we close here the restructures.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's Restructure Josh Hines Allen is a basic restructure.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: They also restructured Trayvon Walker.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: This is not taking any money away from these players.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of converting some some of their standard salary to signing bonus type deals and just clearing up some cap space, some folks are wondering, is there a move coming down the pike immediately?
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they are clearing a little bit of space for a Parker Washington contract extension, that's very possible, but it's also possible that they're just giving themselves the flexibility in advance to be able to go make a move for a player if a player becomes available that they think can really kind of change the calculus of their team and maybe be that last piece that they need to make a championship run.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's where we're at right now, as far as the Parker Washington contract goes, I would love to see him get extended.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the Jaguars would be wise to get that done, but he's a player that really doesn't have the years of cashier of production to kind of be one of those top receivers in terms of contract, but his high-level play has been just about as good as anyone.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: back half a last year he was incredible and carried that over into training camps.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: So they aren't negotiating.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: James Latson said that there's been good dialogue and they're comfortable with if they need to continuing that negotiation into the season.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that was like a subtle message where it's like we don't, you know, to Parker Washington's camp where it's like we don't really feel like we have to get this done right now.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe putting a little pressure on
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: that's just kind of my read on that a little bit.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think the jag wars are just trying to give themselves plenty of flexibility to make the moves that they see fit to help them again, win and compete for a Super Bowl title.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where we're at.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
