- 2:28Speaker 2: Alrighty, welcome back to the Son of a Boy Dad podcast.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Today it is October 5th. We are here live from HQ3.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Welcome back, fellas. Francis, welcome back from Japan.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Japan-sis.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Japan-sis.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Japan-sis returns, and Japan-sis is the first person to ever
- 2:48Speaker 1: have a bad time in Japan.
- 2:49Speaker 5: No, no.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But that was a jarring text message to get this week.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Be like oh yeah i gotta get out of here
- 2:58Speaker 2: i need to.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Get the fuck out of here i've never heard someone
- 3:02Speaker 1: say that from i.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Only after four days too.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah i had to get home it's not like your
- 3:07Speaker 1: new zealand trip we were there for like.
- 3:10Speaker 5: A fortnight yeah yeah no we i mean we just
- 3:14Speaker 5: we just like hurt ourselves for four days were you
- 3:18Speaker 5: partying a lot i don't know if we would even
- 3:20Speaker 5: i don't even know if i would say partying even
- 3:22Speaker 5: it was like I'd never adjusted to the time zone.
- 3:27Speaker 5: And so then you just had to like live with
- 3:29Speaker 5: the hours of the day.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 5: So I slept three hours a day for four straight days. Yeah.
- 3:35Speaker 2: That's not going to do it.
- 3:36Speaker 5: And by the, I mean, I got my immune system broke.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I got super sick. Uh, I was so delirious and
- 3:44Speaker 5: run down and like, just couldn't sleep. I kept, I
- 3:49Speaker 5: kept going to bed. I tried to push it like
- 3:51Speaker 5: later and later to try to, wake up later, and
- 3:55Speaker 5: I would wake up at 5.58 a.m. or within two
- 3:58Speaker 5: minutes of that every single morning.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Damn. What time were you on a bed? One, two.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Something like that.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough.
- 4:07Speaker 1: You can't just go back to sleep. What about just
- 4:10Speaker 1: going back to sleep?
- 4:11Speaker 5: Bro, my body thought I had taken a brilliant afternoon nap.
- 4:16Speaker 5: I was so recharged. I was ready to run through
- 4:19Speaker 5: a fucking wall.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 1: First thing in the morning.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's 6 a.m.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Hate that don't you i feel like you need the
- 4:26Speaker 1: day the first day to not do shit and just
- 4:28Speaker 1: try to like languish in bed and like wake up
- 4:31Speaker 1: and languish.
- 4:32Speaker 5: A little bit i don't know i mean we landed
- 4:34Speaker 5: at like 5 p.m got to the hotel at like
- 4:37Speaker 5: 6 and went straight out to dinner i slept all
- 4:39Speaker 5: right on the flight yeah probably slept like six hours
- 4:43Speaker 5: on the flight so your.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Body thought that was breakfast that you were going out
- 4:45Speaker 1: to yeah i.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Don't know what it was breakfast i totally lost track
- 4:52Speaker 5: of what was going on, where I was. I could
- 4:55Speaker 5: never do the math of converting yen to dollars. So
- 4:58Speaker 5: I ended up buying things that were like way more
- 5:01Speaker 5: expensive than I thought and only learned after the fact.
- 5:05Speaker 5: I just was totally out of my element.
- 5:09Speaker 1: What's a yen amount purchase that you would make and
- 5:11Speaker 1: just say like, oh, 50,000 yen, that's not bad.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I would buy something and think like, oh, this
- 5:16Speaker 5: is going to be like 100 bucks and it'd be 500.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah yeah that's not good and i'd be like.
- 5:21Speaker 5: I mean i'm just it's just stupid but it's not
- 5:23Speaker 5: an easy conversion it's like no.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It's not at all i mean we did it before
- 5:26Speaker 2: you left on the on the show.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Yeah unless you get the the perfect yeah it's like
- 5:34Speaker 5: i don't know 1.6 or 158 yen to a dollar i.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Don't know i mean yeah it's not like an easy
- 5:41Speaker 2: i'm not a math.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Guy we all know that uh that wasn't easy for
- 5:44Speaker 5: me Let.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Me divide that by 158. Exactly.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's tough. What's the best way to do it?
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's like there's seven of them in a dollar? Or
- 6:00Speaker 1: seven dollars in ten thousand?
- 6:03Speaker 5: I never got it there, so I'm not going to
- 6:05Speaker 5: try to get it now.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Seven in a thousand?
- 6:08Speaker 5: Dude, this had never happened to me. I was so
- 6:10Speaker 5: exhausted by the fourth day and so run down that
- 6:14Speaker 5: I have like five mouth ulcers.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I don't like that at all.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Canker sores.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Herpes.
- 6:25Speaker 5: My gums, my tongue.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Or worse, plague.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That's what I'm worried about. That's all I'm thinking about
- 6:29Speaker 2: right now is this plague.
- 6:31Speaker 5: My mouth is in so much pain that even talking,
- 6:35Speaker 5: swallowing is just a nightmare.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You think you have mono?
- 6:38Speaker 1: You might have that plague. He was just in the Orient.
- 6:40Speaker 2: You really could have the plague. You came fresh from
- 6:42Speaker 2: the Orient.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Remember when we talked about how Japanese women were going
- 6:47Speaker 5: to like me?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 5: I don't think there was a single smile sent my way.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Not a smile.
- 6:55Speaker 5: I don't think one of them made eye contact with me.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Well, that might be their eyes.
- 6:59Speaker 5: So to your question about mono, I sure didn't kiss anybody.
- 7:03Speaker 5: That's for damn sure.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It sounds like you might have mono, to be honest.
- 7:06Speaker 2: total immune system collapse no you're just break out of
- 7:09Speaker 2: the sores i'm just.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Brother i've been there i've had that beaten down everything hurts.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Is there a chance they were smiling at you behind
- 7:16Speaker 1: two hands like.
- 7:17Speaker 6: This there was one moment where i did get a
- 7:21Speaker 6: woman to laugh i was buying coffee and um i
- 7:25Speaker 6: was buying a coffee and i was like i want
- 7:27Speaker 6: a oat milk latte and she was like great and
- 7:31Speaker 6: she made it or whatever rung it up and then
- 7:34Speaker 6: was pointed to the board and was like, so there's
- 7:36Speaker 6: an upcharge for the, and she, it was like something
- 7:40Speaker 6: other than the oat milk addition.
- 7:42Speaker 5: And she pointed to that and it was less expensive
- 7:45Speaker 5: what she pointed to. And I was like, Oh, I
- 7:46Speaker 5: think you should add, I think you need to add
- 7:48Speaker 5: another hundred yen because the oat milk is this much.
- 7:52Speaker 5: And she looked at it and she was like.
- 7:54Speaker 7: How did that make you feel?
- 8:00Speaker 5: It was the first time I'd ever corrected someone to
- 8:03Speaker 5: charge me more. Oh, yeah. So I felt good about that.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Very Japanese.
- 8:07Speaker 5: But then I also realized that a lot of them
- 8:09Speaker 5: don't have great teeth. And so maybe that's why they
- 8:12Speaker 5: hide their faces when they laugh.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Oh, it could be. Definitely could be.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I don't know. Is it the dentistry or the orthodonture?
- 8:20Speaker 5: That's wrong.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Yeah, crooked or stained? What are we talking here?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Or both?
- 8:24Speaker 5: Crooked it is a distinction and she had braces oh
- 8:30Speaker 5: okay interesting yeah yeah that's a good point.
- 8:35Speaker 2: What people uh it's always weird to me when i
- 8:37Speaker 2: see people with braces that are older and it's like
- 8:39Speaker 2: isn't like isn't there like better options than that now
- 8:42Speaker 2: like invisalign or is invisalign not really work.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Like that some people are need the wires yeah some
- 8:48Speaker 5: people like to bulwark their.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Mouth yeah a little muscle behind it yeah yeah and
- 8:56Speaker 1: i think invisalign people just like don't wind up doing
- 8:58Speaker 1: it you know they like forget it they lose it
- 9:02Speaker 1: you gotta do it but i know but like braces
- 9:04Speaker 1: it's not like an option like yeah it's fucking locked onto.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Your shit god braces are so painful crazy early I
- 9:13Speaker 2: think it's every, I mean, then you go get, you
- 9:14Speaker 2: got to go get them tightened and then resetting it.
- 9:18Speaker 5: Maybe so.
- 9:19Speaker 1: But then when it, when you run your, your tongue
- 9:21Speaker 1: over your teeth, right when the braces are off for
- 9:23Speaker 1: the first time, it's almost like it's all worth it.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Smiling like you're a Hollywood movie star.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Hello everyone.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Back top teeth.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that shit is nice.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Top 10 feeling or at least sensation if not feeling.
- 9:36Speaker 6: Hmm.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So give us a couple highlights. Fill us in as
- 9:40Speaker 1: much as possible. I feel like I was begging for
- 9:43Speaker 1: like a photograph and you sent pictures of a pizza parlor.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I apologize.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I was like, more pics, please, please, please, more pics.
- 9:50Speaker 1: And you sent four different angles of a personal pan pizza.
- 9:54Speaker 5: I'm really bad at taking pictures when I'm traveling.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I'm really not good at it. the moment i i'd
- 10:01Speaker 2: like to.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Say that that's the case but i don't even know
- 10:03Speaker 5: that that feels like i'm being too precious i i
- 10:07Speaker 5: don't i don't know why i just don't i just
- 10:09Speaker 5: don't take picture pictures really also i was with two
- 10:13Speaker 5: buddies like we were having a great time.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Just wanted them take a lot of photos Yeah, one
- 10:18Speaker 2: of them was pretty good. He's a shutterbug? Because when
- 10:20Speaker 2: you got one dude taking a lot of photos, then
- 10:21Speaker 2: you're like, well, why would I take photos? He's just
- 10:23Speaker 2: going to send me his.
- 10:24Speaker 5: That's his job.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's me.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I do that.
- 10:27Speaker 2: And then I got no photos of myself.
- 10:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I got so many cool photos of my friends like
- 10:32Speaker 2: mid-cast in Wyoming. Yeah. And there'll be like a photo
- 10:35Speaker 2: of me just like sitting in a chair hunched over.
- 10:37Speaker 2: That Bo took on like an iPhone 3.
- 10:42Speaker 1: To make fun of you yeah not to capture a
- 10:46Speaker 1: great moment because you looked funny in that.
- 10:48Speaker 5: Moment i know that uh the canker sores in my
- 10:53Speaker 5: mouth are a result of exhaustion that is a i
- 10:57Speaker 5: looked it up and it was like that's yep that
- 10:59Speaker 5: happens stress too when you don't slap like sleep deprivation
- 11:03Speaker 5: can lead to it and It's what happened.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Do you get cold sores?
- 11:07Speaker 2: Do you get cold sores? No.
- 11:09Speaker 5: We had that discussion on the last episode.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I know, I know.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That's why I'm asking.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Only ever inside the mouth, which is not cold sores.
- 11:14Speaker 6: I get.
- 11:15Speaker 2: But no, but I've had that too.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Those are hot sores.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I get them in the... They're worse in the mouth.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I'd rather have them outside of the mouth.
- 11:21Speaker 5: So fucking painful.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 5: And they take forever. They don't heal. Nothing heals inside
- 11:25Speaker 5: your mouth.
- 11:25Speaker 2: No. It's impossible. It's just constantly wet. Yeah.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Unless I just lie... Like a fucking light on it.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And you're constantly irritating it. Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It's literally hell. Yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I don't know. Anyway.
- 11:41Speaker 5: So the food was cool. The lunches were the highlight.
- 11:47Speaker 5: We went to a pizza place called 400 Degrees Pizza.
- 11:49Speaker 5: That was the best pizza I've ever had.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Period. Was that the one that you took photos of?
- 11:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it looked good.
- 11:54Speaker 5: It was the best. Bar none.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You're telling me that they do better pizza than in
- 11:59Speaker 1: New York?
- 12:00Speaker 2: I'm not going to say that. I mean, it's different.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It's all better than Joe's.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's all Neapolitan. So if you like Neapolitan, I
- 12:07Speaker 5: love it.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Same. Yeah.
- 12:09Speaker 5: I mean, it was crazy.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Better than Napoli?
- 12:13Speaker 2: You were in Japan, though, just crushing pizza and beer,
- 12:16Speaker 2: which is crazy. Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 1: They got that at the B-Dubs.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't get a single photo of a sushi
- 12:23Speaker 2: roll or nothing.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Or like a winding street.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Justin. Domestic light beers and pizza.
- 12:33Speaker 1: It could have been a Buffalo Wild Wings.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Guys, I'm going to be honest, I never went.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I was at Sparrow.
- 12:41Speaker 5: No, the other really good lunch we had was at
- 12:43Speaker 5: this ramen place that has like a Michelin star. Only
- 12:46Speaker 5: six seats at the counter. You go in, they put
- 12:49Speaker 5: like a bib on you because you're supposed to slurp
- 12:52Speaker 5: it and splatter it all over your neighbors and stuff.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Can you talk about what you want at that counter?
- 12:57Speaker 1: It's not one of those.
- 12:59Speaker 5: Yeah, they have a couple of options, but the thing
- 13:04Speaker 5: that you go for is the foie gras ramen. It's
- 13:08Speaker 5: a foie gras broth and it's like this guy has
- 13:12Speaker 5: perfected it over many years. He used to cook at
- 13:14Speaker 5: a French restaurant.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Did it taste much different from a normal bowl of ramen?
- 13:19Speaker 5: Yeah, dude. It was really fucking good. And I don't
- 13:24Speaker 5: eat that much ramen so i don't know maybe i
- 13:26Speaker 5: don't have that much of a frame of reference but
- 13:29Speaker 5: that blew me away you're only in there for half
- 13:32Speaker 5: an hour oh really yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 1: It's a bowl of soup you get one bowl of
- 13:35Speaker 1: soup yeah i.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Guess that's true and then they like and then you
- 13:38Speaker 5: go and then they there's another crop because you're like
- 13:41Speaker 5: how does a business that only seats six six customers
- 13:45Speaker 5: survive and then you're like oh they do they do
- 13:49Speaker 5: whatever do they like rush you out or 20 fucking
- 13:52Speaker 5: covers a yeah a day of the whole restaurant.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Do they do they like move you quickly they're like no.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Not really i mean we were all done yeah one
- 14:00Speaker 5: girl like lapped us there was a woman in there
- 14:04Speaker 5: who i think was japanese who literally was done before
- 14:07Speaker 5: we were halfway done that's crazy and i was like
- 14:10Speaker 5: oh people don't know she's left her desk was she the.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Black widow sonia thomas the competitive eater.
- 14:18Speaker 5: This girl, I mean, this girl was a salary woman
- 14:22Speaker 5: or whatever. Was there any fat people out there? Not
- 14:26Speaker 5: that I saw.
- 14:27Speaker 2: You didn't see one? No. That's crazy.
- 14:29Speaker 1: They're so nice.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Were people smoking a lot? No. A lot of ciggies?
- 14:34Speaker 2: In the restaurants, yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 5: So we went to like, we went, my buddies booked
- 14:38Speaker 5: the dinners and we went 0 for 3 on dinners.
- 14:42Speaker 2: No. Really?
- 14:43Speaker 5: 0 for 3.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Just not good?
- 14:45Speaker 5: And I skipped the last dinner, which was the worst.
- 14:48Speaker 5: I'm sorry. We went one for four on dinners. That
- 14:51Speaker 5: first dinner, the izakaya, where we had the incident, which
- 14:55Speaker 5: I can't talk about. Still waiting to go to trial
- 14:58Speaker 5: and stuff. Yeah, that was a good dinner.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Extradited back to, and you got to go back to Japan. Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 2: That's why I texted. I got to get the fuck
- 15:08Speaker 2: out of here. It wasn't like they're.
- 15:09Speaker 1: On my ass escaping. He was like sliding across the
- 15:13Speaker 1: hood of a car with someone firing at him.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I got to get the fuck out of here.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yakuza. They're on my ass.
- 15:19Speaker 5: No, that was it. That was a really good meal.
- 15:22Speaker 5: But then the three after that were all bad. And
- 15:25Speaker 5: I didn't I skipped the last one because I was
- 15:27Speaker 5: too sick to go. And my buddies went and it
- 15:30Speaker 5: was the worst meal of the trip.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Really?
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah. So basically, they.
- 15:36Speaker 5: As they put it, they're two New York City Jewish
- 15:38Speaker 5: guys who, in a classic New York City Jewish fashion,
- 15:43Speaker 5: had really agonized over booking the restaurant reservations. And each
- 15:48Speaker 5: one would have an amazing place for us to go
- 15:52Speaker 5: on that night. And then somehow the other guy would
- 15:56Speaker 5: talk him out of booking that into booking another place.
- 16:00Speaker 5: And every time, the first one that they had... was
- 16:03Speaker 5: like a place that would turn out to be like
- 16:06Speaker 5: the best restaurant in japan yeah and we had missed
- 16:09Speaker 5: it in favor of a place that was a total disaster.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah disaster how what do you mean all.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Right so we went to a place and i'm gonna
- 16:19Speaker 5: i'm gonna say it called sushi u y u u
- 16:24Speaker 5: this was our the second night we were there it
- 16:26Speaker 5: was an omakase place this place gets like unbelievable reviews
- 16:31Speaker 5: yeah and fucking dualipa has been a bunch of times
- 16:37Speaker 5: she's always like promoting it she's friends with the guy
- 16:42Speaker 5: yeah and i know that because he was talking to
- 16:45Speaker 5: us and this should have been a red flag yeah
- 16:48Speaker 5: he was like so new york And we were like, yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 5: And he's like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And we're like, uh-huh.
- 16:54Speaker 5: And then I was like, well, he's like, how'd you
- 16:56Speaker 5: find me? And I was like, well, I'm a... I
- 16:59Speaker 5: was like, I'm friends with Dua Lipa.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I made a joke.
- 17:01Speaker 5: And then he.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Goes, I'm friends with Dua Lipa. I'm friends. Almost defensively.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Like, she's not your friend. She's my friend.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Like, it's a zero-sum game.
- 17:11Speaker 5: And I was like, yeah, literally, I don't know her
- 17:12Speaker 5: at all.
- 17:14Speaker 1: It's hard enough photo dump. And then.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he showed us like a post of
- 17:19Speaker 5: her with him behind the counter. She was behind the counter. Anyway,
- 17:22Speaker 5: point is, this place was not good.
- 17:27Speaker 2: How so? I'll give you an example. Like, was the
- 17:30Speaker 2: food just bad? Yeah. Like, it wasn't like this isn't
- 17:34Speaker 2: what we expected. It was just like, this isn't good. Bro.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Is that Dua Lipa cooking?
- 17:39Speaker 2: There she is.
- 17:39Speaker 5: That's Dua Lipa.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Well, that's why it sucked you had a fucking British
- 17:42Speaker 1: pop star as your sushi chef.
- 17:45Speaker 5: What the fuck? That thing on the right, that red dish,
- 17:50Speaker 5: that sushi with like this fucking cheese. It was the
- 17:54Speaker 5: first thing they brought. It was almost inedible. It looks terrible.
- 18:00Speaker 2: It's like sushi with like cottage cheese. No one's ever
- 18:04Speaker 2: put those things together. I don't know what the fuck
- 18:07Speaker 2: that shit was, but it was, dude, it was bad.
- 18:09Speaker 2: It looks like tuna. I'll give you, Ronan.
- 18:12Speaker 5: All right.
- 18:12Speaker 2: The other problem is.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I like that you're worked up. I want to kind
- 18:16Speaker 1: of stoke these flames.
- 18:17Speaker 5: New York City, I would say, does fancy omakase as
- 18:24Speaker 5: arguably and annoyingly their single best presentation of food.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 5: We have so many two Michelin star fucking omakase places.
- 18:35Speaker 5: It seems like some of the best chefs from Japan...
- 18:39Speaker 5: Come to New York, and I think LA also has this,
- 18:42Speaker 5: to open omakase restaurants that are like $ 300 to $ 500
- 18:46Speaker 5: a person.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:48Speaker 5: And there's a lot of them. They're everywhere. And I've
- 18:52Speaker 5: been to one or two of those, and they're solemn
- 18:55Speaker 5: and quiet and dignified and very serious. This place was
- 19:00Speaker 5: more along the lines of a fucking... sake bombing. Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Like the Lower East Side.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Like having a good time. First of all, every single
- 19:12Speaker 5: person around the counter was like a white American or Scott.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Or a fucking Australian person.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Dua Lipa fans.
- 19:20Speaker 2: There to see Dua Lipa.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Yeah. We're all there because we got suckered in by
- 19:24Speaker 5: fucking Lipa.
- 19:25Speaker 2: You guys saw the Dua Lipa post too?
- 19:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 2: It'd be awesome if we found out this was like AI,
- 19:30Speaker 2: like Dua Lipa's never been to this restaurant. Yeah.
- 19:33Speaker 1: I have Facebook.
- 19:34Speaker 5: We got Dupa Lipa'd.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Dupa Lipa'd.
- 19:37Speaker 5: We got Dupa'd. So, you know, we're all there and
- 19:40Speaker 5: like they're bringing out the food. I'll give you an example. Ron,
- 19:44Speaker 5: I think you'll appreciate this. There was a guy, there.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Was a sink. There was a sink.
- 19:50Speaker 5: As part of the sushi counter on which they were
- 19:54Speaker 5: working that they were washing their dishes in.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like that at all.
- 20:01Speaker 5: And we're sitting... We were across from the sink. Yeah. So...
- 20:07Speaker 5: He's like splashing shit around.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't like that. And by the way, again,
- 20:11Speaker 2: I don't have.
- 20:11Speaker 5: A problem with that, except that in my experiences with omakase,
- 20:15Speaker 5: that counter, you could perform surgeries on it.
- 20:19Speaker 2: They're almost literally doing that.
- 20:21Speaker 5: They're performing surgeries on pieces of fish that have been
- 20:24Speaker 5: sourced from like the tuna market or whatever. Some really
- 20:28Speaker 5: sacred place, some process that got it there.
- 20:30Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 5: This was just like.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, we got to fucking keep up with the orders.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Might as well have been a diner.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:38Speaker 5: That's really what it was.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Where the guys with Uber Eats bags waiting. Pretty much.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Pretty much.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Exactly. I actually hate that. When you go to a
- 20:48Speaker 2: restaurant and you see the guys with the bags.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Because they try and cut the line no matter what.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You could be waiting in line and someone will just
- 20:54Speaker 1: reach a square bag across you. It really takes.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Away from the experience of going out.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Of getting cottage cheese sushi that shit looks so disgusting.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Yeah i think dripping i think another problem was so
- 21:08Speaker 5: you know they brought out the oyster and what as
- 21:12Speaker 5: one of the dishes right the oyster was enormous i
- 21:16Speaker 5: mean it's like like that big you know and they
- 21:20Speaker 5: cut it in half and so this is like your
- 21:24Speaker 5: we're really reaching here dish like this is like okay.
- 21:27Speaker 2: We're going experimental yeah we're going.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Native no i mean i think they do that it's
- 21:32Speaker 5: just like as a non-japanese not that experienced you know
- 21:38Speaker 5: experimental eater this is the one where we're gonna have to.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Like muscle it down muscle exactly.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Muscle it down right when how many pieces of sushi
- 21:48Speaker 2: have you.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Had at this point nine or ten right so by
- 21:51Speaker 5: this point we know it's bad and now the fucking
- 21:56Speaker 5: monster arrives and when you are in a place that
- 22:01Speaker 5: you've lost faith in and they present the like living
- 22:07Speaker 5: jiggly nightmare fuel.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Yeah that you have to kill it's.
- 22:12Speaker 5: It's 10 times worse.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Make sure your first bite's strong.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Because you can literally see the pathogens that are going
- 22:20Speaker 5: to give you diarrhea and death.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Moving around this thing. And you're like, I have to
- 22:27Speaker 5: eat it out of respect.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Were you still acting kind of like impressed to the
- 22:32Speaker 1: guy that had been like, totally.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I mean, we, I don't know.
- 22:35Speaker 1: We kind of have to give a little lip service
- 22:37Speaker 1: to those guys. Cause you have to be like, wow.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Like that was, cause they're asking, they're checking in.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 1: So you have to lie.
- 22:42Speaker 2: That's the problem with, with Omikase in my opinion, is
- 22:46Speaker 2: that like, they're bringing the, they're bringing the, the crazy
- 22:50Speaker 2: shit way too late. Like, I don't want to already
- 22:53Speaker 2: be full and then be like, all right, time to
- 22:54Speaker 2: try the mega-sized oyster. Yeah. Like, I'd rather start with that,
- 22:59Speaker 2: know it sucks, and then move on to the good stuff. Maybe.
- 23:04Speaker 5: I mean, again, the first thing they brought out was awful.
- 23:07Speaker 5: I mean, this is like torture. It was bad. Yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 5: It was really a bad meal.
- 23:11Speaker 2: And how many did they bring? Like 20? Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Did you have a lot of urchin while you were
- 23:16Speaker 1: out there?
- 23:16Speaker 5: Here's another example.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Please.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Here's another example. You go to a nice omakase, you
- 23:22Speaker 5: expect that there's going to be a good presentation or
- 23:26Speaker 5: representation of sake, right?
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Like a list. We were like, can we see the
- 23:31Speaker 5: sake list? They were like, we only have one. We're like, okay.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's never good.
- 23:38Speaker 5: We're like, what about beers? And they're like, we have one. What?
- 23:41Speaker 5: We have one type of beer and one type of sake.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:45Speaker 1: You got duped. You got duped.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So what you learn, Dua Lipa's never been here.
- 23:50Speaker 5: We learned this after the fact. There's a reservation system
- 23:53Speaker 5: that is like their all-service Yelp slash reservations slash open
- 24:00Speaker 5: table slash fucking TripAdvisor for restaurants in Japan. And it's
- 24:04Speaker 5: called Table Something. And everyone tells you that this is
- 24:09Speaker 5: how you're supposed to get reservations. Is there any chance
- 24:11Speaker 5: you can kind of look that up? tyler like tokyo
- 24:15Speaker 5: reservations table something anyway this restaurant had 4.9 it was
- 24:21Speaker 5: like the highest review ever table log table log exactly
- 24:26Speaker 5: it was insanely high highly reviewed on table log as
- 24:30Speaker 5: were the two restaurants we went to the next night
- 24:35Speaker 5: and the night after and what we came to learn
- 24:38Speaker 5: is that if you see a review on TableLog higher
- 24:42Speaker 5: than 4.0... Juice numbers? They've cooked the books.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Oh, so it's like an advertisement type of thing.
- 24:51Speaker 2: No! Sponsored.
- 24:52Speaker 5: And that it should be a real red flag.
- 24:54Speaker 1: No!
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah. So you spent your.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Whole time in Japan eating the fucking advertisements?
- 25:01Speaker 5: Bro, I think it's even worse than that. I think
- 25:04Speaker 5: there's like a deep state... fucking click farm you know
- 25:09Speaker 5: situation cooking them up definitely because you know i'm telling
- 25:14Speaker 5: you dude like my buddies were like the reason we
- 25:19Speaker 5: vetoed and audibled to these restaurants was because their reviews
- 25:23Speaker 5: were so much higher than the ones that like friends
- 25:26Speaker 5: of ours had recommended we go to um but but
- 25:30Speaker 5: you know we're like.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Gotta listen to your friends yeah you're listening to.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Table long.
- 25:36Speaker 5: I didn't pick any of this.
- 25:38Speaker 2: I let them run the show on that.
- 25:40Speaker 1: A Monday morning quarterback.
- 25:42Speaker 5: I also can't be mad at my friends because I
- 25:44Speaker 5: wasn't involved at all in the choice of restaurant.
- 25:47Speaker 2: But they would agree that.
- 25:49Speaker 1: It's the highest rated one.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Those were their words.
- 25:57Speaker 5: They were the ones that put the Jewish part of
- 25:59Speaker 5: it in as a reason why we failed. So, okay.
- 26:04Speaker 5: The next night, we went to another izakaya place and
- 26:08Speaker 5: izakaya just means like i think you know assorted dishes
- 26:11Speaker 5: like they just bring out a menu of things but
- 26:13Speaker 5: it doesn't it wasn't there was one sushi course but
- 26:16Speaker 5: the rest of it was like different types of cooked
- 26:18Speaker 5: meat and all this and this one was in my
- 26:21Speaker 5: favorite neighborhood which was ioyama did you go there i
- 26:24Speaker 5: don't think i did oh it was great ioyama was
- 26:27Speaker 5: is really cool it's just walk around little streets back
- 26:30Speaker 5: streets it's awesome And Aoyama, at this restaurant, it was
- 26:37Speaker 5: like very authentic Japanese izakaya. To the point where we
- 26:43Speaker 5: walked in, it was downstairs, low ceilings, people sitting on
- 26:48Speaker 5: the floor. You take your shoes off. They were tucking
- 26:50Speaker 5: their legs under these like low tables. And then there
- 26:52Speaker 5: was a counter and it was very lively. People were
- 26:55Speaker 5: smoking cigs and every single person in the restaurant was Japanese.
- 26:59Speaker 5: So we walked in and we were like, this is
- 27:01Speaker 5: going to be awesome.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 5: This is a really good sign. Totally different from the
- 27:04Speaker 5: first night. They bring us to this like back table
- 27:11Speaker 5: that is quarantined behind two like very thin doors. To
- 27:18Speaker 5: the point where we are completely cut off from the
- 27:20Speaker 5: rest of the room.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. All that communal energy and vibe. We had gone.
- 27:25Speaker 5: This was like a vibe choice.
- 27:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 5: We are now.
- 27:28Speaker 2: We can't see anybody else.
- 27:30Speaker 1: They put you in a gringo room?
- 27:32Speaker 2: I don't know why. I think... I think it was
- 27:34Speaker 2: like the only... I don't know why.
- 27:35Speaker 5: I mean, first of all, it was good because it
- 27:37Speaker 5: was the only table that had chairs.
- 27:40Speaker 2: And one of my... We're all pretty big dudes.
- 27:44Speaker 5: So like... we you know sitting on the floor with
- 27:48Speaker 5: my legs tucked under me with no back support for
- 27:50Speaker 5: like two and a half hours that would have been
- 27:52Speaker 5: hell yeah i was actually happy that we were a
- 27:54Speaker 5: little bit away.
- 27:55Speaker 1: From the stretcher hip flexors before a meal like that
- 27:58Speaker 1: you have to get in the pigeon pose before you
- 28:00Speaker 1: fucking sit down for a full meal.
- 28:02Speaker 5: The one funny thing about this was that our waiter
- 28:06Speaker 5: would come And he was wearing a bandana that said like,
- 28:10Speaker 5: fuck you.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Like all it said in English.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:16Speaker 2: It was just like, fuck you a hundred times.
- 28:20Speaker 5: So we were like, all right, this is going to
- 28:21Speaker 5: be funny. And I think one of my buddies had
- 28:24Speaker 5: read that like you can get your waiters. They'll drink
- 28:26Speaker 5: with you.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 28:27Speaker 5: And we were ordering sake, and they were bringing them
- 28:30Speaker 5: out in these ice-cold bamboo bottles, just like a big,
- 28:35Speaker 5: thick bamboo chute that had been hollowed out, and they
- 28:37Speaker 5: would fill it with sake. That was awesome.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds sick.
- 28:40Speaker 5: And he was just bringing them round after round. And
- 28:43Speaker 5: every time he brought one, we would be like, do
- 28:45Speaker 5: you want some?
- 28:46Speaker 2: And he'd be like, no, no, no. Okay. And then
- 28:49Speaker 2: we'd fill him up.
- 28:51Speaker 5: A cup, and it's sipping sake. But he had to
- 28:54Speaker 5: run back to keep working. So he would just... chug
- 28:59Speaker 5: it and then he'd put it down and he'd go
- 29:01Speaker 5: oh mistake.
- 29:06Speaker 2: That's hilarious so every then after that every time he
- 29:11Speaker 2: came back we would go more mistake and he's like.
- 29:13Speaker 5: No no no all right all right each time he
- 29:17Speaker 5: put it down like oh mistake and run back he
- 29:20Speaker 5: must have done like 12 chugs damn i mean it
- 29:23Speaker 5: was great that's crazy hilarious.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Out of respect is it like a respect thing or
- 29:27Speaker 1: why do they i don't know part of the gig
- 29:30Speaker 1: if you get offered by some i.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Mean it's probably makes his job a lot more fun Yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 2: I think so. I think he was having fun.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Until it's every night.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I just want to be a waiter.
- 29:41Speaker 5: But the first dish they brought out, the first dish
- 29:46Speaker 5: of like nine was this like house beef stew that
- 29:51Speaker 5: had chunks of beef in it, right? I took my chopsticks...
- 29:55Speaker 5: I grabbed a piece of the beef. I put it
- 29:57Speaker 5: in my mouth and chewed it, and it was 100% gristle.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I take that out of my mouth. If I have
- 30:06Speaker 1: to chew something for more than 25 seconds, I'm not
- 30:10Speaker 1: trusting my esophagus and stomach to be able to break
- 30:13Speaker 1: it down if my teeth can't. Like fucking get that
- 30:16Speaker 1: out of my body. You know what I mean? Like
- 30:18Speaker 1: there's no way I'm fighting.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:21Speaker 1: And I'll put it on the side.
- 30:22Speaker 5: I was so of the mindset. Like we had come
- 30:25Speaker 5: in with such positive energy because the previous evening's dinner
- 30:29Speaker 5: had been such a failure. And this was another choice
- 30:33Speaker 5: from the same guy who had chosen that one that
- 30:35Speaker 5: I didn't want to like write off the bat. Be like,
- 30:40Speaker 5: oh boy, you fucked us again.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. First bite.
- 30:44Speaker 5: It was just pure, pure fat. The whole, there was
- 30:48Speaker 5: no meat. Yeah. Just fat.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Was it Wagyu?
- 30:52Speaker 5: No, not that. They did do a Wagyu later. Which,
- 30:55Speaker 5: by the way, so, and Roan, tell me if you
- 30:58Speaker 5: experienced this. I thought Wagyu would.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Be like- The best of the best?
- 31:03Speaker 5: I thought it was going to be something where it
- 31:05Speaker 5: was like a special item on each menu, as it
- 31:08Speaker 5: is here. you know, very often they'll be like, and
- 31:11Speaker 5: by the way, if you're really feeling like going crazy,
- 31:14Speaker 5: we have our A5 Wagyu. It's like a hundred bucks
- 31:17Speaker 5: an ounce, whatever the fuck. I felt like everywhere we went,
- 31:22Speaker 5: Wagyu was almost the standard over there.
- 31:25Speaker 1: There's, and there's better shit than Wagyu. Wagyu.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:29Speaker 1: There's like, it's not even guaranteed the best. Like there's
- 31:31Speaker 1: like fattier or more like succulent or like, uh, cow
- 31:36Speaker 1: that was only fed blue cheese olives its whole life
- 31:38Speaker 1: or some shit like that. There's nicer options.
- 31:42Speaker 5: There's degrees of Wagyu. There's Kobe. I was surprised, but
- 31:48Speaker 5: it was cool. It was cool that Wagyu was so prevalent,
- 31:52Speaker 5: but I don't remember. I don't think we ever had
- 31:54Speaker 5: a real regular beef situation.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it was all that.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Tyler, can you look up what even is Wagyu?
- 32:03Speaker 5: It's the It's just very, like, fatty beef, right?
- 32:08Speaker 1: Type of high-end meat from a specific cattle bred originating
- 32:11Speaker 1: in Japan. So maybe all the cattle are there. All
- 32:14Speaker 1: the Wagyu cattles are there.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it might just be more common. Like, significantly more common.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Like, what's something that we have that's, like, everywhere? Is it, like,
- 32:23Speaker 1: Lay's potato chips?
- 32:24Speaker 2: Corn fed.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 1: You could just get Lay's anywhere, but you have to
- 32:30Speaker 1: go to a special store there to get some Lay's.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I don't know. But what? So they had some later
- 32:35Speaker 1: on in that meal.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Was that?
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Later on.
- 32:39Speaker 5: You know, look, the other part of it is like
- 32:42Speaker 5: I wasn't hungry starting on day two for the rest
- 32:46Speaker 5: of the trip.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Oh, it just translates to Japanese cow.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:50Speaker 1: So all the beef there is Wagyu as long as
- 32:52Speaker 1: it's from their own cow.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Maybe that's right. Interesting.
- 32:55Speaker 1: What the fuck? Yeah. So you weren't hungry the whole time?
- 32:58Speaker 5: I mean, we were just because we were just like eating.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Eating is the tourism.
- 33:03Speaker 2: It's all there is to do.
- 33:04Speaker 5: That's like the cultural, you know, in fucking Paris, you
- 33:08Speaker 5: go to museums or whatever, like in Japan, in Tokyo.
- 33:12Speaker 2: You eat and you drink and drink. Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 5: And, and, um, you know, we, we would like start
- 33:19Speaker 5: our morning with breakfast at the hotel, which was like.
- 33:21Speaker 1: A full Japanese breakfast.
- 33:24Speaker 5: I mean, I would, I was doing like the, they
- 33:29Speaker 5: called it the gymnasium breakfast. Was that healthier?
- 33:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:33Speaker 5: Trying to like egg whites, give my stomach a little
- 33:35Speaker 5: bit of a break. But it still came with like
- 33:38Speaker 5: a plate of meat and a plate of an omelet.
- 33:41Speaker 5: And so, you know, starting at 8 a.m., I'm full.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:45Speaker 5: And I'm not like hungry. But then by like 1030,
- 33:48Speaker 5: we're at the sushi market.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 5: It is like a tuna sampler.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:53Speaker 5: And then at like 1 p.m., it's pizza. And then
- 33:57Speaker 5: at like 4 p.m., we're like stopping for a fucking burger.
- 34:02Speaker 5: And then at like 730, we have dinner.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 5: And you're just like you just are. You have like
- 34:09Speaker 5: 10 percent room in your stomach at the start of
- 34:12Speaker 5: every meal.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:13Speaker 5: And then you're just overeating the whole time. So, you know,
- 34:18Speaker 5: I ate that bite of fat and I was like, yep,
- 34:21Speaker 5: that's it. I'm not eating again tonight.
- 34:23Speaker 8: Really?
- 34:24Speaker 2: Pretty much.
- 34:24Speaker 1: First bite of the meal.
- 34:25Speaker 2: You fucking. I was like a one and done.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah. No way.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Stuck to the sake?
- 34:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I was just drinking the whole time.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:33Speaker 5: And this was the only night that we actually had
- 34:36Speaker 5: the energy to go out because we all napped in
- 34:40Speaker 5: the afternoon. But by the time... I had one bite
- 34:45Speaker 5: of the Wagyu when that came out. But other than that,
- 34:47Speaker 5: the food, I just... It was not for me.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I mean, if you're going out to... You're not trying
- 34:54Speaker 2: to fill up on a bunch of fatty meats. Exactly.
- 34:57Speaker 5: But the place was cool. I don't remember what it
- 35:00Speaker 5: was called. I could figure that out. The vibe was cool.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 5: The vibe was cool. The waiter was hilarious. Then we
- 35:06Speaker 5: went to this cool bar that was like all expats,
- 35:10Speaker 5: but none of whom were from America. They were all
- 35:12Speaker 5: from like, you know, Argentina and fucking France and Australia.
- 35:19Speaker 5: There were some Irish guys. So it was like, A
- 35:22Speaker 5: collection of people who were getting after it and were boisterous.
- 35:27Speaker 5: I noticed that a lot of the like, it's quiet.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 5: People are quiet.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Everywhere.
- 35:34Speaker 5: In restaurants, in the streets, like at night, you know.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Whereas this was like one of those, it was like
- 35:40Speaker 5: a bar that could have been in the East Village. Oh,
- 35:41Speaker 5: that's cool. And it was fun. We had a good
- 35:43Speaker 5: time there. And then we tried to go, we went
- 35:48Speaker 5: to One Oak.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Which one's that?
- 35:50Speaker 5: Well, One Oak is a famous nightclub that was in
- 35:53Speaker 5: New York City. It was for 17 years.
- 35:55Speaker 2: It must have been before my time.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Yeah. They had one over there. And my buddy knew
- 36:03Speaker 5: the guy from America who was like, whatever. So we
- 36:07Speaker 5: got in and we were there at one in the
- 36:09Speaker 5: morning and there was nobody there.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Wow.
- 36:12Speaker 5: And I don't know if we were just there too
- 36:13Speaker 5: early or what.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Sometimes when you're away and you're in like a foreign
- 36:16Speaker 2: country like that, it really just feels like you're just
- 36:18Speaker 2: like you're missing. Like, what are we doing wrong?
- 36:20Speaker 5: Yeah, we got it wrong.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Like everywhere we're going, it's empty or it's silent. Like
- 36:25Speaker 2: I remember in Iceland walking into restaurants and it was
- 36:28Speaker 2: like when we walked in, it was like the whole
- 36:30Speaker 2: restaurant came to like a screeching halt. And it was
- 36:33Speaker 2: like everyone is just dead silent. Yeah. Like you almost
- 36:37Speaker 2: feel weird for like talking.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 5: I mean, that's exactly right. This was just not, I mean,
- 36:47Speaker 5: maybe it was like you got to be there at
- 36:50Speaker 5: 3 a.m.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Were you saying that Tokyo is like super late? Like
- 36:54Speaker 2: they stay out like really, like it doesn't start until
- 36:56Speaker 2: like really late?
- 36:57Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:58Speaker 5: Ron, do you have any idea about that?
- 37:00Speaker 1: I think it's such a big city that there's probably
- 37:02Speaker 1: stuff going on at all times. It's probably like New
- 37:04Speaker 1: York where it's like, if you want to have a
- 37:06Speaker 1: crazy time at nine, you can, or if you want
- 37:08Speaker 1: to have a crazy time at 3am, that's probably available
- 37:11Speaker 1: if you can find it.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I know that like when one Oak was open in
- 37:13Speaker 5: the meat packing district, it was a place that people
- 37:16Speaker 5: like started the night that got good at like two 30.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 37:21Speaker 5: It was not like a midnight to one. So maybe
- 37:25Speaker 5: we were just there too early, but like we stayed
- 37:27Speaker 5: for half an hour and left.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Was it, did it feel very Japanese or did it
- 37:31Speaker 1: feel like Westernized?
- 37:34Speaker 5: That club was pretty Westernized, but, but like very hype beastie.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yeah. You know? Yeah.
- 37:42Speaker 1: What's your, what, what was like a, an experience where
- 37:45Speaker 1: you're like, wow, this feels like so Japanese and foreign
- 37:49Speaker 1: and cool. Like what was something that like struck you
- 37:53Speaker 1: as being very like locally cultural?
- 37:56Speaker 5: Yeah. That 400 degrees pizza thing was every single person
- 38:02Speaker 5: in there was Japanese and, you know, they didn't speak
- 38:07Speaker 5: much English and the pizza was made like quietly. And
- 38:13Speaker 5: everybody who was working at the restaurant was a woman. Oh,
- 38:17Speaker 5: there was no, you know, like all the pizza makers,
- 38:19Speaker 5: all everyone was a woman. So for some reason that
- 38:23Speaker 5: struck me as being uniquely Japanese and, um we went
- 38:27Speaker 5: it did look great yeah we went to um there
- 38:30Speaker 5: was a cool i wanted to check out some of
- 38:32Speaker 5: the design shops like some of the you know home
- 38:34Speaker 5: decor and stuff oh home decor get to the clothing
- 38:37Speaker 5: um yeah i gotta see.
- 38:38Speaker 1: The inside of it can i see the stitching of
- 38:39Speaker 1: those pants just as like.
- 38:41Speaker 5: Yeah these are these this is the only thing i'm
- 38:43Speaker 5: wearing that is uh is japanese that i that i
- 38:46Speaker 5: bought over there but i have i have i bought
- 38:48Speaker 5: other clothes but i wore them all and had to
- 38:50Speaker 5: oh yeah some of them some of them have already
- 38:52Speaker 5: sent to dry cleaning and some are in the wash
- 38:54Speaker 5: yeah I ran out of clothes, by the way. I underpacked.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Well, that's how you didn't bring any. Yeah.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Did you have time to shop?
- 39:04Speaker 5: Yeah, which that's what we did all fucking afternoon.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Oh, got it.
- 39:06Speaker 5: We would shop from like 1230 to like 5 p.m.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Every day. And by the.
- 39:12Speaker 5: Way, my buddies went way more nuclear than I did.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Really?
- 39:16Speaker 5: Yeah. My one friend there was like losing his fucking house.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Dang.
- 39:23Speaker 5: On gas.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Pants.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Pants?
- 39:25Speaker 2: He bought so many pairs of pants, dude.
- 39:29Speaker 5: I was truly like and every time he'd be like
- 39:31Speaker 5: what do you think of these ones and i was
- 39:32Speaker 5: like don't don't don't those look exactly like the ones
- 39:35Speaker 5: you bought yesterday he's like i like them i'm gonna.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Get them i mean were they all like big wide
- 39:40Speaker 1: like chef pants with big pockets and shit.
- 39:41Speaker 5: Like no no they weren't they weren't nuclear in fact
- 39:45Speaker 5: that was the one thing i really tried was like
- 39:47Speaker 5: every time i'd be in a fitting room i'd be
- 39:48Speaker 5: like Do not look at these through the lens of, wow,
- 39:54Speaker 5: these look really cool here in Tokyo.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:58Speaker 5: You have to ask yourself, will this be mocked mercilessly
- 40:04Speaker 5: on the podcast if you wear it?
- 40:08Speaker 2: So, you know, anyway.
- 40:10Speaker 1: So he didn't really get anything that was no kimonos.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Nothing too far out there. But, you know. We all
- 40:18Speaker 5: were fans of the clothing before we went and had
- 40:20Speaker 5: bought stuff made by these brands here in New York.
- 40:24Speaker 5: And then seeing and doing the math on my phone
- 40:27Speaker 5: of the conversion of the price tag to dollars, it
- 40:30Speaker 5: was literally 50% of what I have paid.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty nice.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Historically for these same things from these brands. So it
- 40:37Speaker 5: was hard not to feel like we were getting a deal.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you are.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Plus, you don't pay tax. So you have their price
- 40:44Speaker 5: tag and then they like deduct 10% from that because
- 40:46Speaker 5: you present your passport. And they're like, yeah, you don't
- 40:50Speaker 5: have to pay tax on this.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Because you're American? Because you're not from Japan? You're taking
- 40:53Speaker 2: it out of the country. Damn.
- 40:55Speaker 5: So it's duty free.
- 40:56Speaker 2: That's pretty sick.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Which, by the way, that policy they're revising. It's, you know,
- 41:00Speaker 5: normally like when you go to Europe and you buy
- 41:02Speaker 5: some shit, you bring your receipt to the airport. And
- 41:05Speaker 5: then like weeks later you get some refund in the
- 41:07Speaker 5: mail or to your credit card or whatever.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 5: There, it's done in the shop.
- 41:13Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 41:14Speaker 5: Well, it's awesome for us, but they get fucked.
- 41:17Speaker 2: The shop gets fucked?
- 41:19Speaker 5: Because people just lie. Oh, yeah. And then they resell
- 41:24Speaker 5: stuff in-country.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
- 41:27Speaker 5: So they get it tax-free, and then they sell it.
- 41:30Speaker 5: And get whatever. You know what I mean?
- 41:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense. Or, I don't know, they explained
- 41:34Speaker 2: it somehow. Like, someone explained to me how... Just a
- 41:36Speaker 2: clearly Japanese dude being like, I'm not from here.
- 41:38Speaker 1: I'm from Wisconsin.
- 41:44Speaker 5: So, anyway, I.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Did it.
- 41:48Speaker 5: You know, I ran out of clothes and, like, whatever.
- 41:52Speaker 5: My stuff was so gross by the end that I
- 41:56Speaker 5: actually legitimately considered just leaving, like, a whole bunch of
- 42:01Speaker 5: dirty laundry in the country.
- 42:03Speaker 1: You were going to offload some American clothes? Yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 5: Because I worked out and stuff.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Sometimes you got to.
- 42:09Speaker 5: And it was just like, I was, by the last day,
- 42:11Speaker 5: it was like I could have done laundry through the hotel,
- 42:13Speaker 5: but it wasn't.
- 42:13Speaker 1: What is a no-baller?
- 42:14Speaker 5: It would have been so expensive to do the laundry.
- 42:21Speaker 5: So I just didn't. And I totally, totally underestimated the,
- 42:28Speaker 5: uh or overestimated how much space i had in my
- 42:32Speaker 5: bag oh yeah to bring things home such that when
- 42:36Speaker 5: i was packing i was i was like halfway through
- 42:39Speaker 5: packing and i'm like i am fucked and i ended
- 42:43Speaker 5: up having to bring a all I had was like
- 42:46Speaker 5: a paper shopping bag with ribbons as handles. And I
- 42:52Speaker 5: filled that with dirty laundry and then like the pottery
- 42:56Speaker 5: and ceramics and glassware at the top, which I carried
- 43:00Speaker 5: on through Japanese customs security all through the airport, then
- 43:08Speaker 5: into my seat all the way to Minneapolis off the
- 43:11Speaker 5: plane in Minneapolis through customs and immigration and then like
- 43:15Speaker 5: rechecking my bag, then into the Delta lounge in Minneapolis,
- 43:19Speaker 5: then home to LaGuardia. Like I'm talking a paper bag
- 43:23Speaker 5: that weighed 30 pounds that I had to put a
- 43:26Speaker 5: hand under because it was going to break through the bottom.
- 43:29Speaker 2: And it was all my glassware and ceramics.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah. That's not good.
- 43:33Speaker 1: That's like a, Unfortunately, like a slutty girl behavior.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it was really.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Like walking on with a Target bag. Actually, you pulled
- 43:40Speaker 1: that move.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I've done that before, yeah.
- 43:42Speaker 5: It was really.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Sometimes you got no choice.
- 43:43Speaker 1: You have a Target bag in here?
- 43:45Speaker 2: Using a fucking... I've had to use door dash bags
- 43:48Speaker 2: that I got. A plastic bag with a sweatshirt in it.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the worst.
- 43:53Speaker 5: It was really ratchet behavior.
- 43:55Speaker 1: That is so ratchet.
- 43:57Speaker 2: But.
- 43:58Speaker 5: I mean, I was just praying through turbulence that like
- 44:01Speaker 5: this bag that was in the overhead, I wasn't going
- 44:03Speaker 5: to open up my beautiful ceramic plates and have them suck.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Tell us about the ceramics landing in LaGuardia. It's dust.
- 44:10Speaker 2: You open up the overhead. It's just pouring out like sand.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Were they nice?
- 44:20Speaker 5: So that was one thing I got really right. Um,
- 44:24Speaker 5: Was that I had good recommendations for like these home
- 44:27Speaker 5: design and like crafts stores. And I really got that right.
- 44:34Speaker 5: There was this cool place called the Conran Shop that
- 44:37Speaker 5: had a couple locations. I went to the one in Daikanyama,
- 44:42Speaker 5: which was the other neighborhood I really liked. Yeah. And
- 44:47Speaker 5: it's like half museum, half shop. And the shop was
- 44:50Speaker 5: really cool. And the one thing that really caught my
- 44:53Speaker 5: eye was this metal sort of stand inside of which
- 44:58Speaker 5: fit four different colored, beautiful glass coffee cups. And you
- 45:04Speaker 5: stack them. So I got one that was green, blue, amber,
- 45:07Speaker 5: and clear.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Love that.
- 45:09Speaker 5: And I was like, this is the coolest, most Japanese
- 45:13Speaker 5: thing ever. I love this. It's going to be hell
- 45:17Speaker 5: to bring it home.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:18Speaker 5: But I'm going to do it. I'm going to suck
- 45:20Speaker 5: it up. I'm never going to find this again.
- 45:22Speaker 6: No.
- 45:23Speaker 5: And this is going to go perfectly with my coffee setup.
- 45:25Speaker 5: And it's going to look so fucking organized. It's so Japanese.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Only the Japanese could think of this. I have a
- 45:31Speaker 5: problem where after I buy something.
- 45:34Speaker 1: You look it up.
- 45:35Speaker 5: I look it up.
- 45:36Speaker 1: That's a bad idea.
- 45:37Speaker 2: You should never do that.
- 45:38Speaker 5: To be like, did I get a good deal?
- 45:39Speaker 2: Yeah. No, you never got a good deal. This morning
- 45:42Speaker 2: I made my coffee.
- 45:43Speaker 5: And I poured a beautiful fucking almond milk latte into
- 45:47Speaker 5: one of my beautiful stacked cups. I was so pleased
- 45:51Speaker 5: with the whole process.
- 45:52Speaker 2: And it exploded.
- 45:53Speaker 5: And as I'm sitting there.
- 45:54Speaker 2: It exploded?
- 45:55Speaker 8: No.
- 45:56Speaker 2: That would have been great. Even worse in Swedish.
- 45:59Speaker 5: As I'm sitting there drinking my coffee, I look at
- 46:01Speaker 5: the bottom of the thing and I see the brand.
- 46:05Speaker 5: And I think it was called Arlo. And I was like, well,
- 46:08Speaker 5: that doesn't sound very Japanese.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 5: So I Googled this. It's all made in fucking Denmark.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Denmark.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Oh, no. Now, it could be way worse. Yeah. The
- 46:21Speaker 2: Danes are great. Yeah, of course. We like Denmark.
- 46:24Speaker 1: They're making quality.
- 46:26Speaker 2: The Danes are pretty good. It wasn't Vietnam. No. You
- 46:29Speaker 2: know what I mean? India would have been a burial. Yeah, Bangladesh. Like, oh,
- 46:33Speaker 2: my God. But it certainly wasn't Japanese.
- 46:36Speaker 1: No, no.
- 46:37Speaker 5: And, you know, you can buy it from a Danish store.
- 46:40Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure you can get it on Etsy. And
- 46:42Speaker 5: I had to carry this stuff almost like on my head.
- 46:46Speaker 5: All the like balancing it delicately through fucking layovers and
- 46:51Speaker 5: all this stuff.
- 46:51Speaker 1: And then you just see it at the airport as
- 46:53Speaker 1: you're walking by for sale.
- 46:54Speaker 2: What the fuck? It's at Hudson News.
- 46:56Speaker 5: Just a classic total.
- 46:59Speaker 1: In Minnesota.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Didn't ask like, by the way, is this Japanese? And
- 47:04Speaker 5: part of the reason that this is funny is that
- 47:07Speaker 5: early on um you know i i found out that
- 47:14Speaker 5: there are certain things made by brands that we all
- 47:18Speaker 5: know that you can only buy in tokyo like they
- 47:21Speaker 5: issue limited edition tokyo tokyo exclusive yeah that's pretty cool
- 47:26Speaker 5: versions and my buddy and i started making jokes where
- 47:30Speaker 5: like we would constantly ask like, is that a Tokyo exclusive?
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Like a banana.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Or whatever, but it did, you know, you know me,
- 47:38Speaker 5: I'm a sucker for scarcity.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 47:40Speaker 5: So like exclusivity.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:42Speaker 5: Anytime like I found something that was a Tokyo exclusive,
- 47:46Speaker 5: I was just like, well, I have to have that.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:50Speaker 5: Um, and in fact, I think this is a great
- 47:54Speaker 5: moment for present Monday.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Wow.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Wow.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Yes. Was hoping.
- 48:01Speaker 5: We were hoping for present Monday. Yeah, we got a
- 48:03Speaker 5: pretty good present Monday.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Wow, this is insane.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Not a Tokyo exclusive.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I'm just going to do this without any fanfare. Can
- 48:10Speaker 2: I close my eyes? Close your eyes.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 48:13Speaker 2: We'll do hairball first. We'll do hairball first.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Hairball. Oh, my God. My heart is pounding.
- 48:20Speaker 2: All right, here we go. Go ahead.
- 48:22Speaker 5: Let's see. We'll do Harry first. Oh, wow.
- 48:25Speaker 2: This is great.
- 48:25Speaker 1: So, Harry, from Tokyo. No.
- 48:28Speaker 5: This is the Japan edition of L.L.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Bean. This is insane.
- 48:33Speaker 5: I'm not kidding you. I'm not kidding you. This is
- 48:36Speaker 5: the Japan line of L.L. Bean.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Free port, man.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:38Speaker 2: I mean.
- 48:42Speaker 5: I know this sounds crazy, and I'm not making a
- 48:44Speaker 5: joke here. Like, literally, I went to the Ella Bean store,
- 48:46Speaker 5: and they have a rack that's like Japan edition.
- 48:49Speaker 8: Really?
- 48:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:49Speaker 5: So you can.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Now, they did... Can't get this in Freeport, Maine? No. No.
- 48:55Speaker 5: They did do a pop-up in new york city for
- 48:58Speaker 5: like a week of japan edition ll bean and it
- 49:02Speaker 5: sold out immediately and i didn't get to it damn
- 49:05Speaker 5: so um i thought this was really nice show that.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Show that shirt oh that's heavy too that's how you
- 49:12Speaker 2: can tell cool ass.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Fly and there's a fucking full portrait on the front
- 49:15Speaker 1: yeah oh.
- 49:16Speaker 5: That's the back that's the back i thought this was
- 49:18Speaker 5: pretty cool now this is super.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Nice god damn seven thousand dollars too i couldn't bro
- 49:24Speaker 2: i could.
- 49:24Speaker 5: Not decide i i wanted to get you i the
- 49:28Speaker 5: shirt was what caught my eye for you like i
- 49:30Speaker 5: was like he's gonna love that and but then i
- 49:33Speaker 5: was like Well, first of all, I was like, that's
- 49:35Speaker 5: not enough, because what I got.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Oh, you must have got Rone. What I got Rone was... Oh, no.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Le Labo?
- 49:44Speaker 2: Le Labo Gaiac. What is this?
- 49:47Speaker 5: This is the Tokyo-specific edition of the... Their cologne.
- 49:51Speaker 1: No way.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:53Speaker 1: What?
- 49:54Speaker 2: What are you?
- 49:54Speaker 1: You're not wearing it right now.
- 49:56Speaker 5: I'm wearing a different one.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Because you came in smelling fucking immaculate.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Have you never opened up a package before?
- 50:02Speaker 5: Do you have this, by the way? I was curious
- 50:04Speaker 5: if you might have this.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I'm trying to do a delicate.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Is this your first time opening something?
- 50:07Speaker 1: I'm trying to do it delicately, brother.
- 50:08Speaker 2: You're supposed to just cut the.
- 50:09Speaker 5: You can fuck the box up. That's fine.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I want to do it. Just cut along this?
- 50:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I would need a knife for that.
- 50:18Speaker 2: No, you wouldn't. Let me do it. Pass her over. Okay.
- 50:21Speaker 1: This pack is genius.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Wow. It seems so easy. You're straining with all your might.
- 50:28Speaker 2: There we go.
- 50:30Speaker 1: That was pretty good.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Wow.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Thank you.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Dude, by the way, they actually made it there in
- 50:39Speaker 5: like a lab. It took them 45 minutes.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Wow.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Really?
- 50:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I was kind of annoyed. I was like, they
- 50:45Speaker 5: were like, it's going to take us 45 minutes to
- 50:46Speaker 5: make this, which was cool, but I was like.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Gaiac 10.
- 50:48Speaker 5: Yeah, Gaiac 10.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 50:50Speaker 5: That's pretty sick. Give that a little spray.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Can I give this a live spritz? Yeah.
- 50:54Speaker 5: So the cool thing about this is that.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Let me smell. I also bought myself some. I thought
- 51:01Speaker 2: it was awesome.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Oh, my God. That smells like pure wealth.
- 51:07Speaker 5: You can give yourself a little spray.
- 51:09Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 51:09Speaker 2: But very refreshing. Oh, my God. It has your name
- 51:11Speaker 2: on the bottle. Yeah. What? Yeah, yeah.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Personalized?
- 51:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 51:16Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 51:17Speaker 2: That's sick.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Forone?
- 51:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Tokyo.
- 51:21Speaker 1: That's so nice. Look at this kayak pen.
- 51:24Speaker 5: So now that you have that- You can go to
- 51:28Speaker 5: Le Labo's in America and you're grandfathered in and they'll
- 51:33Speaker 5: make it for you here as a refill for that bottle.
- 51:37Speaker 1: The Tokyo exclusive?
- 51:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:39Speaker 1: They can make it on the spot?
- 51:41Speaker 5: They make it in three sizes. They make it in.
- 51:44Speaker 1: The- Like it, love it, gotta have it?
- 51:46Speaker 5: Yeah, 15 mil. This is the 50. Then there's the 100. Okay.
- 51:52Speaker 5: and the uh the 50 and the 100 mil you
- 51:55Speaker 5: can get refills like if you have a bottle that
- 51:58Speaker 5: you bought you know in japan.
- 51:59Speaker 2: That's nice like just salad yeah we advise you keep
- 52:03Speaker 2: your creation away from light and heat when not.
- 52:06Speaker 5: In use yeah don't microwave it don't even.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Have it by heat you gotta put the cap back
- 52:10Speaker 2: on too where did i put the cap no respect.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Where did i put the cap right there jesus.
- 52:17Speaker 5: I love how harry's being very protective.
- 52:19Speaker 7: Yeah he's very respectful of this beautiful yeah so i
- 52:22Speaker 7: got i knew i thought so nice.
- 52:23Speaker 5: I thought this would be since we've talked about clone
- 52:25Speaker 5: i'm obsessed with it now and uh well.
- 52:27Speaker 2: I i actually got into clone when you were gone.
- 52:29Speaker 5: Well good i have way too many i bought i
- 52:33Speaker 5: had extra yen so i just went to the.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Duty free fucking dior.
- 52:36Speaker 5: Dior sauvage sure why not load it up.
- 52:39Speaker 7: Why not But Harry, I thought the T-shirt caught my eye.
- 52:44Speaker 5: And then I was like, it's not enough. Rones was
- 52:47Speaker 5: way more than if I just gave you a T-shirt
- 52:49Speaker 5: and gave him that. It wouldn't be fair. And so
- 52:51Speaker 5: I felt like a parent where I was like, I
- 52:52Speaker 5: have to spend equal, roughly equal.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Amount of money on my two sons.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Now the gauntlet has been thrown. Because I'm going to
- 53:02Speaker 1: London on Thursday.
- 53:04Speaker 2: And now I feel.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Like I have to go tip for that. Now I
- 53:06Speaker 1: have to spend. I'm going to look up how much
- 53:08Speaker 1: the fucking Le Labo costs.
- 53:10Speaker 5: A lot.
- 53:10Speaker 2: A lot of yen.
- 53:11Speaker 1: And try and hit the yen.
- 53:12Speaker 2: You got to buy it with yen, though.
- 53:14Speaker 1: No, I have to buy it with pounds and pence.
- 53:18Speaker 1: That's such a nice gift. Holy shit. I'm genuinely so excited.
- 53:22Speaker 2: By the way, I have gifts for all the boys, too.
- 53:25Speaker 5: I just I need 10 days.
- 53:28Speaker 8: Whoa.
- 53:28Speaker 5: You just need to give me 10 days and I
- 53:30Speaker 5: will have gifts for you.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Are you trafficking humans? It's going to take 10 days.
- 53:34Speaker 2: I'll have gifts for you in 10 days.
- 53:35Speaker 1: The shipping container doesn't get here. They'll arrive. What the fuck?
- 53:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:40Speaker 1: What is it? Or it's better to be.
- 53:41Speaker 5: I'll surprise them.
- 53:42Speaker 2: I got to get the visas handled and all that. Yeah.
- 53:45Speaker 1: It's brides.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:48Speaker 6: Wow.
- 53:48Speaker 1: That's so nice. Thank you so much.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 5: My pleasure, guys.
- 53:51Speaker 1: That's such a nice gift. And so such a thoughtful
- 53:54Speaker 1: cherry on top.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Yes.
- 53:56Speaker 1: So rate it out of 10. Rate your trip out
- 53:58Speaker 1: of 10 because it seems like, wow, you are exhausted
- 54:02Speaker 1: and had some bad eating experiences.
- 54:04Speaker 2: You also haven't heard about the flight.
- 54:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I know I've been talking the whole time.
- 54:09Speaker 5: It just is what it is. That was always going
- 54:11Speaker 5: to happen. I'm here for it.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I was prepared for it. I actually had this factored
- 54:19Speaker 1: in as a listening day.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one of those episodes. Yeah, I don't got much.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Nothing happened to me.
- 54:27Speaker 5: We'll talk ball for like 10 minutes after. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Rabel's a great guy. I'm back in on him. He
- 54:34Speaker 2: didn't do anything wrong. What probably happened was his wife
- 54:37Speaker 2: wasn't giving him the attention.
- 54:44Speaker 1: I'm blaming the wrong person here.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Let's get Rossini on the field. Yeah, dude.
- 54:53Speaker 5: So, no, I say the meals, like the dinners, whatever. Oh,
- 54:58Speaker 5: and then the last night that I skipped because I
- 55:00Speaker 5: was like, we had this really cool sake tasting thing
- 55:03Speaker 5: at a place called 12 that my buddy hooked us
- 55:05Speaker 5: up with.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Which was awesome.
- 55:06Speaker 5: That was a real highlight. That was at 930. And
- 55:10Speaker 5: I was so dead on that last day that I
- 55:13Speaker 5: was and I was sick that I was like, guys,
- 55:15Speaker 5: if I come to dinner, I'm not going to make that.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:17Speaker 5: So it's one or the other. And they were like,
- 55:20Speaker 5: no problem. Skip dinner.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:22Speaker 2: They went.
- 55:23Speaker 5: They went to a Chinese restaurant. Oh. Another place that
- 55:27Speaker 5: was highly rated on Table Log.
- 55:30Speaker 2: They told me.
- 55:32Speaker 5: It was a two and a half hour episode of
- 55:34Speaker 5: Fear Factor.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Was the food just like inedible?
- 55:41Speaker 5: Food was like truly like Chinese wet market.
- 55:48Speaker 2: The real Chinese food. Right.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Pangolin.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:52Speaker 5: Like literally like jelly.
- 55:54Speaker 2: Yeah. Fucking rat tail in it.
- 55:58Speaker 5: I mean, I'm making that up.
- 55:59Speaker 2: They were like.
- 56:01Speaker 5: They were like, we couldn't eat it. It was inedible. Also,
- 56:07Speaker 5: there was such a language barrier, apparently, between them. I
- 56:11Speaker 5: was on the reservation. They tried to explain early on
- 56:16Speaker 5: to the people, like, he's not coming. We're just two.
- 56:19Speaker 5: And the person would be like, two, two. And then
- 56:22Speaker 5: they brought out every... plate for me oh really and
- 56:26Speaker 5: by the way they didn't bring out their first dish
- 56:29Speaker 5: they sat for an hour oh because the restaurant kept
- 56:32Speaker 5: waiting for me oh my god and then finally and
- 56:35Speaker 5: like every time they'd send the plate that was for
- 56:38Speaker 5: me back it's like no we don't need a third
- 56:40Speaker 5: plate of sea anemone.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Oh god chinese people pretending to be japanese.
- 56:47Speaker 5: I don't know they said it was they said it
- 56:49Speaker 5: was like truly the worst like just i mean i
- 56:51Speaker 5: believe horrible experience Um.
- 56:54Speaker 1: That's terrible.
- 56:55Speaker 5: So I was happy to have missed that for sure. Um,
- 57:00Speaker 5: but yeah, the, while the dinners to me weren't like,
- 57:02Speaker 5: we had a great time. We, our friendship vibes were
- 57:05Speaker 5: super high and then the lunches were like unbelievable.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:09Speaker 5: And that, that, uh, that market is super like the
- 57:13Speaker 5: sort of market area in Ginza where they do that. The,
- 57:17Speaker 5: just the Toro like sampler was one of the best
- 57:21Speaker 5: things I've had.
- 57:23Speaker 2: And there were a lot.
- 57:23Speaker 5: That was like weird.
- 57:25Speaker 2: It was weird.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Like you just walk up and like.
- 57:28Speaker 2: A quick line.
- 57:29Speaker 5: And then they just give you like the lean, the
- 57:32Speaker 5: medium fatty and the fatty. And it's three pieces of
- 57:35Speaker 5: each on rice. And it's unbelievable.
- 57:38Speaker 2: That sounds really good.
- 57:39Speaker 5: And like the whole trip, I probably got recognized seven times.
- 57:43Speaker 5: Six of those times were in the line at that.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Damn. So it was a lot of like that was
- 57:48Speaker 2: coming up to you in Japan.
- 57:49Speaker 5: That was probably. Well, that was all tourists.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Japan says.
- 57:52Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 57:53Speaker 1: His name rings bells over there.
- 57:54Speaker 5: And it was all people being like, I can't wait
- 57:56Speaker 5: to hear about this on the pod.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Damn.
- 57:58Speaker 5: We're all listeners.
- 58:00Speaker 2: It's cool. Internationally. Fuck, bro. Yeah.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Price just went up. Yeah.
- 58:05Speaker 2: That's big.
- 58:06Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 58:06Speaker 2: I didn't know we were doing numbers in Tokyo.
- 58:10Speaker 5: I didn't buy a knife.
- 58:11Speaker 1: No.
- 58:12Speaker 5: I wanted to. Just kind of like kept missing the store.
- 58:16Speaker 1: The same thing happened to me that happened to you
- 58:18Speaker 1: with the Danish cup or the cups from Denmark. I
- 58:22Speaker 1: got a knife and it was like Swedish.
- 58:24Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 58:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:26Speaker 2: You got a Swedish? I got a Swiss Army knife.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Yeah. I got this red Swiss Army knife. I was like, wow,
- 58:32Speaker 1: this does a lot.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Could they have a corkscrew?
- 58:35Speaker 1: Their innovation is second to none.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Have you guys like I looked at the Swiss Army
- 58:40Speaker 2: knife website.
- 58:41Speaker 1: The other day.
- 58:42Speaker 2: They got a lot of gear.
- 58:44Speaker 5: Yeah, they do.
- 58:45Speaker 2: They still are selling those ones that are like 200 tools.
- 58:47Speaker 2: It's like this thick.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Can you hold this for us, Armin Knife?
- 58:50Speaker 2: It's more just like a flat.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Do they get really thick?
- 58:57Speaker 2: Well, they make big knives, too. Oh, God. Yeah, they
- 58:59Speaker 2: make those.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Looks like someone dumped out a kitchen sink.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Kind of want one.
- 59:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's kind of cool.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Maybe we could get you one in England.
- 59:07Speaker 5: When I was a kid, I cut my hand so
- 59:09Speaker 5: bad with a Swiss Army knife.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Dude, we got one, too, and my sister cut her hand,
- 59:14Speaker 1: and I immediately got my Swiss Army knife taken away.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Same with my fucking fencing swords. She got injured. Dumb bitch.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Your APs?
- 59:22Speaker 5: My APs, I fucking.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Smoked her with the knife and the epée.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Do you guys remember the Swiss Army Knife from Get Smart?
- 59:31Speaker 2: I don't. You don't? Steve Carell?
- 59:33Speaker 5: I like that movie.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Remember he had the Swiss Army Knife that had like
- 59:35Speaker 2: a blowtorch on it?
- 59:38Speaker 1: This one's sawing a piece. That one was sawing a
- 59:41Speaker 1: branch of wood.
- 59:44Speaker 2: You're in real trouble if you're sawing wood with a
- 59:46Speaker 2: Swiss Army Knife. That's how you know you're fucked. you
- 59:50Speaker 2: ever have to use the saw.
- 59:52Speaker 1: No but harry asked you about the flight brother.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Yeah so we flew japan air on the way over
- 59:58Speaker 5: um and my buddy was super generous and got me
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: that flight business class it was sick it was really
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: good yeah.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: The picture you showed of yourself starfished onto a bed
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: with a mirror.
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: On the ceiling was fucking incredible yeah You know, there's
- 1:00:17Speaker 7: just like a couple things that are different where, first
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: of all, you know, you you recline the bed or whatever.
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: Your feet don't touch.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Love that.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Your feet don't touch the front.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Love that. There's also I've noticed there's not really anywhere
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: to put the shoes either.
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: They had a cubby. I'm sure your shoes. They had
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: a coat hanger with a sliding door where you could
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: hang your own coat inside your thing.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: That's sick.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: They had, you know, the food menu. It was like
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: you could either do the Japanese menu or the American.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: I chose the American, which was a mistake.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: They brought out all the Japanese food first. And by
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: the time people were finishing their desserts, I was getting
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: like my first thing.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: It was almost like they did it with disdain. Probably.
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: All of the flight attendants, the whole crew, everybody was Japanese.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: Um, I'm trying to think what else.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: Geishas?
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Do you think that they were geisha adjacents?
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: No.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Geisha energy?
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: Gay Jason?
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: No.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Did you ever, like, are geishas prostitutes or definitely not, right?
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: I don't think they are.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: But they're like just companion women?
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: They're like professional flirters.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: Escorts? I guess.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: No.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Escorts fuck.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: You can be an escort. They're hostess. They're, they're, they're,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: they're called host. I think it's hosts. They're like– Sounds
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: like an escort. They sit down with you. They like
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: shoot the shit.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Like a VIP host.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: They like– they make you feel liked. Yeah. But maybe
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: it's more than that. Maybe they'll like– Yeah, yeah. Like
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: we went to– I think I've told this story a
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: while ago. But we went to– like we were in
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: LA filming something and me, Tommy, and another dude went
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: to– like a strip club, but it wasn't a strip
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: club in LA. And we went in and it was like,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: they were like, this is actually a companionship bar. Yeah.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: It's like you pay the girls to talk.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: That's what they do in Japan.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: We didn't, we left by the way. I want to
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: make that clear. I don't want to hear them speak.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: We didn't partake.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: But wasn't that like the, you're like, yeah, you're paying
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: for a conversation.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: And then the janitor came outside and he was like, Yes.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I mean, realistically, if you're going to go out on
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: a date, you're going to have to pay $ 200 for
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: dinner anyway.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Get back in there.
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: That's a good point. It was a jarring experience. Well,
- 1:02:50Speaker 8: that is what they do in Japan. It's because the
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: men are so lonely and nobody... Incels.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: There's a little bit of an incel.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: I don't think that's the issue, though. People don't The
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: fear of rejection is apparently so high that nobody goes
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: up and is like, hey, I think you're pretty.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: I want to go out on a date with you.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: But there's like a famous Japanese viral video where they
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: asked all these women, maybe it's from the early 2000s
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: or late 90s or something, and they asked all these women,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: would you be insulted if your husband cheated on you?
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: And they're like, no, if it was a physical thing,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: just like, no, it wouldn't bother me at all. It
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: was like they had a very detached feeling about the
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: sexuality of it. It was almost like, yeah, I just
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: would be happy that he's fucking. Like, I just don't
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: want him to be an incel.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Interesting. And their population rate is plummeting.
- 1:03:43Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: They're really... I say that... Roan, Tokyo was the biggest
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: city I've ever been to.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: It just keeps going.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: It's beyond belief how big it is.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Did you feel like you could have spent a fucking
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: month there?
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Different neighborhoods the whole time.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: It's like if you took Brooklyn, Queens... fucking jersey city
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: all the different boroughs you know the bronx and didn't
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: separate them with rivers or like denoted.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: It was just one big it was just like all right.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: Another 20 minute uber and we'll be in this neighborhood
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: another 20 minute uber and we'll be here were you
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: ubering a lot the whole time we did take the
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: subway the ubers every time i got first of all
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: The Ubers, you made the point, you were like, everyone
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: there is going to be the most professional person you've
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: ever seen. They take their job so seriously. Where I
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: noticed that the most was the Uber drivers. Mm-hmm. Every
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: single Uber driver we had was wearing a black suit
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: with a black tie and white gloves.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Damn.
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: They looked like they were delivering a Steinway piano. It
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: was unbelievable how formal they were. They all had two
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: hands on the wheel. They were driving perfectly. The air quality,
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: the AC was perfect. Also, all the Ubers, 90% of
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: the Ubers that we took were these cars where.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: They're a bit like in the shape of a London taxi,
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: except in the back, the two seats in the, in
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: the first row would be like gaming chairs, like, or
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: like massage, lazy boys. You could recline them with a button.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: There was like, you know, they were so comfortable. I
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: got better.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: They got better seats out there.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: They had really nice seats. And this is like what
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: the basic baseline Uber was. So the Ubers were really nice. Um,
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: but whenever we would get in them, that was sort
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: of where like, we would get so tired.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Was because all of a sudden, like the energy and
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: fresh air would, would go away and we'd be in
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: a car for 25 minutes and it would just sap
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: all of the energy out of the day.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: I mean, when you're, I feel like once you sit
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: down or when you like go back to your hotel room,
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: that's when you realize like how tired you are. Did
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: you guys, um, I completely forget what I was going
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: to say. I was going to ask a question about.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: Our hotel was really sick. Our hotel was unbelievable.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: I mean, it truly- Honestly, the thing that I noticed
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: the most from the hotel was the comforter on the
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: bed looked just incredible.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: Did I send you a video of my room?
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: No.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: Oh, I have one.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Still photo.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Just a still photo of the view. Okay.
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: I mean, my- And I think you replied, and I
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: think the text was like, I feel fucking awful or
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: something like that.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: And it was the sickest hotel view ever.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: There was something out of a James Bond movie.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Yeah, the panorama of a screensaver.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: The hotel was unbelievable. The hotel looked sick.
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: We stayed at the Bulgari. It was fucking crazy good.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: The view was insane.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: How was the hotel bar? Was it nice?
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: Hotel bar was awesome.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: What was so amazing?
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: I have become such a sucker for hotel bars. I
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: go to hotel bars the best. In New York, that's
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: where I want to go out for a drink.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: A hotel bar.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: I'm not going to a sports bar. I'm not going.
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: I want to go to a nice hotel bar because
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: it's quiet. It is very quiet.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: It's quiet. A good hotel bar is very nice. Getting
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: back to bar still open.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Unbelievable.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: The night just started.
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: That was always like my favorite part of being on
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: the road.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: Yeah. Was that like I'd eat my meals at the
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: hotel and then after the shows go back to my
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: hotel and have a nightcap before he went off and
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: found some hooker.
- 1:07:33Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: No, that is very fun.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Found some geisha.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: He didn't actually find a hooker, but he was. I've
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: told that story.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: So what were you drinking at the hotel bar? I'm
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: thinking like a passion fruit, like yuzu vodka drink or something.
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: Yeah, they had a really good gin drink with like
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: cucumber and lemon.

- 1:10:30Speaker 2: I do like cucumber in some beverages.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: That's girlish of you. You've been spending time at the
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Sewing High Council. I could tell.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: You can't say that knowing I can't defend myself.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Exactly. I have you dead to rights. I have the
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: photographic evidence of you at the High Council.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: But there are some good cucumbers.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Drinking a cucumber. Drinking a hollowed out cucumber.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Because cucumber can, like, have you guys ever had water
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: with cucumbers?
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Hate it.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Quite refreshing. Yeah, I don't love that. Too vegetal for me.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: I like it.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: It's like having water seasoned with broccoli.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: I find cucumbers to be the least gross vegetable.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: Well, they have the least taste.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I find the taste repulsive. I don't like cucumber in anything.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: I don't like cucumber salads. That's my one childish palate thing.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Oh, I love a cucumber salad.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: Anything else... Like I would eat the fucking massive clam
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: before I'd have a kid.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: No you wouldn't.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I swear to God I wouldn't. I swear to God
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I wouldn't.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: I'm imagining that oyster just like the size of a
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: tennis ball.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Like it just scuttles to the right on your plate
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: a little bit and sits back down.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Like oysters are already kind of gross. But they're great. Yeah.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: But like I can't imagine them being bigger.
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: This one wasn't briny. It wasn't like. It was just...
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: Just life. Well, it just tasted like.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: It's like you're taking a bite out of the world.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: It just tasted like mush. Oh. Sort of like wet
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: metallic mush.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Because even like you ever get like an oyster that's
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: a little too big? Yeah. Like that's what I'm thinking of,
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: but I'm just imagining it's bigger than that. I mean,
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: they cut it in half. Yeah, that is actually repulsive.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: You ate it with a fork and a knife. Like
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: I'm going to think about that tonight. Yeah. God.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Did, uh, like, did you have any, any tables you were,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: or did you go into any restaurants where it was like, Oh,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: this is the smallest space I've ever been in. I
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: can touch each one of the walls from where I'm standing.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: That, that, um, that, uh, well, no, the, the, the
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: ramen place was, was really, really tiny. And then we
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: went into some other places. Um, I mean, we just
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: had like so many small meals. There was a, A
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: lot of like fast casual places are fucking awesome.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm sure.
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: Where like you go in and you put in your
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: order on a screen before you sit down.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: And then you sit down. Like we went to this
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: burger place where they put the burger on rice. Oh.
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: They put it on rice and they have these different
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: sauces and then like they have a sauce that they
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: put over a little flame for you. That was awesome.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: That sounds incredible.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: It was really, really good.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I think a burger place is where I found out
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: that there was like, oh, Wagyu is not even close
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: to the best.
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: They had a Wagyu burger. We were having Wagyu burgers there.
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: But we had three different patties. I mean, this is
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: the reason I was never hungry, too.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a lot of food.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: You go at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., and they bring
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: out three burgers.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: That's a whole day of eating.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: We each had three burgers.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Three meals over rice? Like, rice is going to fill
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: you the fuck.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Up so much.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: I love a good meat and rice, though. That's a staple.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: A lot of beers?
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: A good amount of beers. Any good cocktails?
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: You know, we went to, I thought there would be,
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: I thought the cocktails, maybe we just didn't go to
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: the right places. We went to this one place called
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: SG Club, which was like a cocktail bar that gets
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: a lot of great reviews.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: You're getting fleeced by these reviews. No, but like.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: People in the know, friends of mine, had been like, go.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: It was good.
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: Maybe I didn't order the right cocktails. Also, everyone in
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: there was a dude. I don't know. And it was
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: super crowded. Dude, nothing is spaced for people who are
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: six foot three.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: I mean, why would it be like the chairs and
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: the boot? Like you literally are. You're just sitting like
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: this the whole fucking time. The one weird thing I
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: found was that in all the clothing shops we went to,
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: everyone was like, dude, you're never going to find anything
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: in your size. I only found things in my size.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: Because it was the only thing in stock.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: Correct.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Everything else was sold out.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: But they were like, oh, you're the only size we
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: have of that. We have a size six left. We
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: have everything.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: So that was kind of cool.
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: I was happy about that. I would say that the
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: brand of clothes that I, or the store that we
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: did the most damage in was this company called Oppresse A.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: Dot.
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: P-r-e-s-s-e how does that sound familiar a press i mean
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: you're thinking probably j press.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: No no i'm not anyway okay well i tried i'm
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: thinking of opress okay do they have what a location
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: in uh new york.
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: Uh-uh hmm but they i mean they sell you can
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: find their clothes here it's just double the price yeah
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: yeah so knowing that it's too expensive to buy here
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: but there i bought any uniclo Yeah, I went into
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: the flagship.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Was it massive?
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: It's overwhelming.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: It's five floors.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Love that.
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: And it's as if they're doing a fire sale.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I mean, the clothes are so packed. There's so many.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: It's like they have the clothes on the floor. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Just like shirts everywhere.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: It's just bargain bin. But I mean, it was packed.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I heard about this. I saw a video of this
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: clothing store in Japan, and it was a rock climbing store.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: And I think that they were tired of, how do
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: you say that?
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Arc'teryx?
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Yeah. They were tired of like people using Arc'teryx or
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: like North Face as like a fashion brand. They only
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: wanted it for climbers only. So they made the first
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: floor into like a boulder.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: So you have to climb to the second floor. And
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: then you can get the legitimate hiking gear.
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Like the climbing gear, but you have to earn it.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: And I just I wish I told you about it
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: because I know that you would have taken on that
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: great boulder of Japan.
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: The thing that like there were just some things that
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: kind of like slipped away from me that I was
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: wanting to do and check out. One of which was that. Well,
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: I went to the tailor made store.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: Oh, that's pretty cool.
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: And TaylorMade is partnered with Foreplay. So whenever I go
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: with them, we wear TaylorMade stuff and we play TaylorMade clubs.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: And I love TaylorMade.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, who doesn't?
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: I was playing their clubs before I started shooting with
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: them and would pay so much money for them. So
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: I love TaylorMade. And they have a big store in Tokyo.
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: And I really wanted to find some cool... Japan-exclusive tailor-made stuff.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Like maybe something that said tailor-made in Japanese writing. They
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: didn't have that, unfortunately, but they did have a collaboration
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: with this really cool Japanese brand called United Arrows.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: And.
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: All that stuff was fucking awesome. And I tried on
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: a pair of pants, but it was like the day
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: that I was leaving and I'd already spent so much money.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: I had no room left in my bags. And I
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: just was like, I literally can't allow myself to get
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: any more of this. And I regret that because.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: You're still thinking about it.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: That stuff was awesome.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Whenever you think about something for more than a day,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: I almost feel like you got to make that purchase.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I mean, I know it's too late now, but that's
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: true regret.
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: And you really can't find it online, unlike those cups,
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: which you can find on Etsy for like 50 bucks.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. If you didn't get those cups, you could
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: have gotten tailor-made stuff.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: You had so much more room. Yeah.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: And you wouldn't have had to be so careful in Minneapolis. Yeah.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: I mean, I bought, so then I bought like two
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: really cool ceramic plates that were, I mean, just, I
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: was just terrified bringing these things home.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, ceramic that you could break at any second.
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: It's like, if it breaks, you're done, throw it away.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: Um, then also by Rado, which makes really nice cologne
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: also did a Japan exclusive called Saboro that I bought. Uh,
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: I bought some guy act 10 and then, um, A
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: bunch of clothes.
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: That's everything. Oh, and then a bunch of wood stuff.
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: I bought like a wood tray in this place called
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: Coma Shop that I've been following on Instagram.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: For a while. Interesting.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: A rolling tray?
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: No, it's like a... Tea tray?
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: You would bring.
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: What I want to do, because I like making cocktails
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: for people, is have people over make the cocktails and
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: bring them out on a tray. on this wood tray.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: Love that.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: It's got velvet on the platter and then it's wood
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: all the way around with wood handles.
- 1:19:11Speaker 6: It's cool.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Oh, that's nice.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: Definitely got to roll on that.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: I feel like. Are you going to have that upstate?
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: We're going to have to get upstate to get a
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: cocktail on that.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys will come upstate.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: You get any of that Japanese kosh out there? No.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: They were to cut his hand off.
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: I didn't see that anywhere. I didn't. That was not.
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: There was no weed culture. No weed like paraphernalia. Nothing.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: They did have a cool vape store, and I thought
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: about going in there to buy you guys cool vapes,
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: but I don't know what you like, and I figured
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: that was way too specific and highly likely that I.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Would get that wrong. Zero tolerance on recreational cannabis.
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Prison sentences of up to seven years.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I was done after four days, so staying for
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: seven years would have been way too long.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Bro, Trump would have got your ass out.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: I wonder.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Trump would have gone to war for you.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: He would have.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: That would have been awesome. DT. Yeah. That would have
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: helped with the pot a lot.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: If you were like our Brittany Griner.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: Doing Zoom.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Francis brought five milligram edibles to Japan and now he's
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: in prison for a decade.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: It would have made us controversial, but it would have
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: been good for the.
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: There would have been a lot of people that would
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: have been like, well, you got to follow the rules. Yeah.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: You should have known. Yeah. We're going to free Francis.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: We're going to trade Francis for Victor boot.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: What about the Marines?
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: I only scored seven goals in college. Um, by the way,
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: I tried to get my, like some Xanax filled from
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: my psychiatrist before I went, but it's not easy. Couldn't
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: get it. I didn't get it done in time.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: And so they asking you a lot of questions. Hmm.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: No.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: No?
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: No, she just didn't even respond.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: Oh. But like.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: Can I get some drugs for my fun weekend?
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: It's just like for the flight, you know?
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I've done it before. Yeah.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Easy.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: You should have talked to your boy. Well, could have
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: got you right.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: Some clonies. I don't have any Xanax.
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: We've got some clonies, though. Of course.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: We've got capans out the ass. Yeah.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: An abundance of them. Yeah.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: So my point is, I went over without any kind
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: of sleep aid, but miraculously... As I'm on my plane,
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: I'm fishing in this little side pocket looking for a charger,
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: and what do I feel but the vial of Dramamine
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: from Fish Week in Florida.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: Oh!
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: And that wasn't non-drowsy either. It was drowsy.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that was drowsy.
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: Super drowsy. Yeah. So I took that on the plane,
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: and that knocked me the fuck out. I took it
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: there and on the way back. On the flight back,
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: I slept eight of the 11 hours.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: Well, that's probably why you were fucked for four days.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: It was because you were living off the drowsy drama meme.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like that shit makes you drowsy the
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: next day.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you're stumbling through. You don't know if you're dreaming
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: or not.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: Dude, I was fine the first night.
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: I just couldn't, no matter when we went to bed,
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: I couldn't sleep past 6 a.m. And nothing fucking opens until.
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: Even the coffee shops don't open until like 8 or
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: 9 or something. 9.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Damn.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Lazy ass.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: It's kind of weird.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Lazy ass Japanese folk.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they start late. Me? I'm two cups in by 8.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Easy. I can't believe it. I'm so excited. This genuinely
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: smells like an expensive hotel room.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it smells quite refreshing. Like a cucumber drink almost.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Don't even put that on this. Don't even put that
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: psychological olfactory.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I was definitely getting a hint of cucumber.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: There's no cuke in this. The cuke makes me puke.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: I can't fuck with the cuke. I'm not a cuke
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: man at all.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: There was like a week before they banned all the
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: flavored Juul pods where they had cucumber Juul pods and
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: they were so good. It was like the best and
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: then it was just everything was gone.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: That sounds terrible.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: A day later.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: That sounds awful.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: It was really good.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: There's no way. Really good. They were such refreshing Juul.
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: It was very quite refreshing.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it probably hit the back of the throat like
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: a nice mint.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: Oh, so good. Take me back.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: What do you guys want in England? What can I, like, obviously,
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: you're on a fragrance. I actually need a list of
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: every fragrance you have just in case I get a
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: fragrance because I'd be sick if I got you a dupe.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: I do have something, but I will send you the
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: money for it.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: What is it?
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: Harrods has an exclusive cologne.
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: I love that. Where is it? Coventry Gardens. Yeah.
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: Harrods is that.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: Have you been to Harrods? No.
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: No, I haven't.
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: Harrods is the coolest store ever.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: It's like a massive Macy's. But it's even better. Yeah.
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: They got like they sell like fireplaces.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Yeah. They got everything.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: How does your ass know? How's your uncultured ass know?
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: I've been to London. I think I went to I
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: went to Harrods and they had like a NASCAR jacket
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: or something. I know it was a NASA jacket. And
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: I was like, I was like begging my mom to
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: let me get the NASA jacket. It was like $ 5, 000.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: She was like, no shot.
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: I think I know that company that did that NASA line.
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: Is that sick? Heron Preston, I think is.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: The name of that company. This was 15 years ago.
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: Can you look up Heron Preston NASA line?
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: NASA jacket, heritage, perfume.
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: Heron Preston NASA. That NASA stuff they did was super cool.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: Like this stuff. Right, Harry?
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: That's what it was, wasn't it?
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that's it.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: Looks like it. Trying to tell me I didn't know
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: and I knew exactly, right? Maybe it's not it.
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: No, this stuff was awesome.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: No, because the jacket was blue.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: They make it blue.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: What does NASA stand for? North American Space Agency or
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: some other shit?
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: I've gotten this wrong before, so I'm not going to
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: weigh in.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I have no clue.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: National Aeronautics and Space Administration. So it's American. Basically, my
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: question is, so that's an American agency that we're selling
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: in an England store. Like if we had like a
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: MI6 jacket, it had fucking Nordstrom's.
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: Dude, by the way, in Harrods, the thing I remember
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: that was so cool is that they have this like
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: spy section.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: Do you remember that? I do. And like, they literally
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: sell gadgets that are like, if you press this button
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: on this fake radio. all the electrical devices in the
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: room will turn off.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: That's called a pinch.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Isn't that what... Ocean's Eleven. Literally, yeah. Why could there
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: be a pinch?
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Oh, if you bought me one of those, I would
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: be really happy.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: If I bought a pinch?
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be sick to have.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but I, like, bump into it on the airplane.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: If I ever do, like, a podcast and it's not
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: going well, just kill it.
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: Yeah, right.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Especially the men in black. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: They have really... stuff where i'm like is this legal that.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: You it's a great gadget store the gadgets are crazy
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: they got all the gadgets but it's gonna take you
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: a long time to get through them all.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: They're like really i don't remember it being that big.
- 1:26:33Speaker 8: Oh i remember it being massive oh i remember it
- 1:26:36Speaker 8: felt like walking around like a museum.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Send me your favorite gadget you want from harris i'll
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: have to.
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: I feel like they had like an umbrella where the
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: fucking handle is a sword yeah like there's a lot
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: of stuff like that yeah um I think the Harrods
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: exclusive fragrance might be by X Nihilo.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: So anyway, I don't... I'm going to need this written down.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: I'm going to need this written longhand. I'm going to
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: send you a couple things that I need while you're
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: out there.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: The sword and the stone.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: The sword umbrella for sure.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: The binoculars that see through women's clothing.
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: The shoes with the mirrors on the top of them.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: There's an Aston Martin where you press the button of
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: the gear shift and it turns into a missile launcher.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: I'm going to need you to pick that up for me.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: It is going to be nice.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: I'll have a guy waiting there for you with all
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: my items selected.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: I think I had so much built up in my
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: mind about Japan. You know, it's kind of been this
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: obsession of mine. I'm fundamentally aware that I did not
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: see much of the country and I did not go
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: for very long. And I wasn't, you know, really doing
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: that much cultural stuff. I tried to take a tour
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: of the Imperial Gardens, but it was like two hours.
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: They only do guided tours. You cannot walk around that
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: park unless you are part of a guided tour. We're like,
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: we don't have time.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: Yeah, not trying to do a two hour tour.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: So I think I probably need to go back, but
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: right now I can't even think about ever traveling again.
- 1:28:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: I mean, those flights are pretty brutal. Try going somewhere
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: that's not 24 hours away. Yeah.
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: But you get the 24 hours back on the flight back.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: That's true. That is true. Yeah. Spend your Sunday.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: That was kind of cool. Like I landed in Minneapolis
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: in time to watch like the second half of the
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: giants game.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Oh, that is nice.
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: Just watching that on my phone in Delta Lounge while
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: I had a two-hour layover was great.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: The Delta Lounge? Yeah, the Giants one. You went to
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: the Delta Lounge?
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: They won a great game.
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: I literally didn't watch a second of the Giants game.
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: I don't know how the Giants are 3-1.
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: Good team.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: Yeah, but they've lost... Their defense is pretty insane. They
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: lost probably their best One of their best defensive players.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Brian Burns.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: And they lost their franchise quarterback in the second week.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: We don't need him.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: They got Abdul. I mean, that rookie, Arvel Reese, looks
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: like he's thumping bodies.
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: Abdul's looking like a demon this year.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: Kayvon Thibodeau, I mean, he's a high-pedigree player. Deontay Banks
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: had that interception return for touchdown. He looked fucking.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: The.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: You got nine now.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: Did you see that.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: CJ Gardner Johnson, is that his name?
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: You see what he.
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: Said about Chisholm? Chisholm's catch. He's like, he's an elevator operator.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: He's an elevator guy.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: What an unbelievable thing to say about a white receiver.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: He's an elevator guy. Just a guy on the Upper
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: East Side wearing a fucking newsboy cap who... Oh, sixth floor? Yes, ma'am.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Good to see you, Mrs. Bailey. They're killing him online.
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: Can I help with your groceries?
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: They said that... People are just ripping on him because
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: he's been on four teams in the last four years.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe more than that, honestly. He was on the Bears, Eagles, Lions,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: Eagles again, Texans. Was he on the Colts?
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Isn't he on the Colts now?
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: Or no?
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: No, he was on the Colts last year, wasn't he?
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I don't know. But he is. I mean, the Eagles
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: went to two Super Bowls when he was on the team.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: He's the kind of player... You need one guy that's
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: dumb as fucking rocks. You need one guy in your
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: defense that cannot... Count to ten.
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: Wow, what a game, Pat's Bills.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: Yeah, great game.
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: That must have been tough for you.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: No, no, it wasn't.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: It was quite easy.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: Your two favorite teams, the two great loves.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Two of your three favorite teams.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: Who's my third?
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: Eagles.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Oh, brother. You couldn't even pay me to watch the
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: Eagles right now?
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Why are there so many pictures of you in Eagles
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: gear then?
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: I mean, it's because I had it. People give it
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: to me. Okay. I've said it before. I'll wear anything.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: I don't care what it is. Obviously.
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: I got it.
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: Come on now, bro. It's a great shirt.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: It's a soccer jersey. A Patriots soccer jersey.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: You do look like you're going to be selling us
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: hot dogs.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I mean, it's a great shirt. Look, I got to
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: show support for my team.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Let's hear your hot dog call.
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: My team won yesterday. Your team lost to a bad
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: team yesterday, which is fine.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: They were super teams.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: I wouldn't call them a super team. Super team? I
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: would call them a team with two good players on offense.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: We lost the super team without six all pros?
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: Who's the super team?
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: The Rams.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: Who's a super player on the super team?
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: Last year's MVP?
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, last year's MVP.
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: Stafford?
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: Stafford.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: He's a pretty good player. Stafford's 50 years old.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: The guy who had two rushing touchdowns?
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: You guys couldn't keep up with a 50-year-old man.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: 50? No, he's not, bro. He's 10 years younger than
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Brady was when he won his last Super Bowl. 10
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: years younger.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: And you think, yeah, I'm just saying. You guys lost
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: to a bad team. You got shit on. Your team
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: is genuinely a disgrace to the game. It's not fun
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: to watch. No one wants to watch a team score
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: zero points in the second half.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: You're lashing out because Francis pointed out that you look
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: like a Cracker Jack salesman.
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: You couldn't even wear your team's colors today.
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: There's something about the Red Sox and the Patriots that
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: is deeply conflicting to me.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: I don't know how. It's just showing support.
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: Even though it's the same color.
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: It's just like a child that got to Boston for
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: the first time.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Right. Like, I was aware. I was aware.
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: And, like, you're wearing Celtics pants or something.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Let's see the Bruins on these.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: Bruins ice skates. Look, I was aware that I might
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: take some criticism for my outfit, but I'm fine with
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: that as long as I get to show support for
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: my team.
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: I really, really wanted to get you some cool sneakers.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: But that's too hard to buy for someone. You can't
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: buy someone sneakers.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: Because you don't know if they're not going to fit.
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: And I knew you just might throw them away. I
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: felt like green hoodie. Safe bet. Bellabreen. Bellabreen, brand that
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: you like.
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Definitely. Japan exclusive.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Great gift, Francis.
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: No, I'm not reaching for it. I'm just explaining my
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: thought process.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: No, this is Francis' best gift, Gift Monday.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: This is the best one that you've done.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: Oh, that's very kind.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: It is.

- 1:34:29Speaker 5: Yeah, bear meat.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: Bring me a.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: I'll see what I can do.
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: Actually, a Tyrese Maxey Kentucky jersey would be sick.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: I'm not going to get you that.
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: Why?
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: I thought we were in the gift giving.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: I'll get Francis something.
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: I'm about to bring you back to it. You really
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: pissed him off with the spray.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: I think the Roan experiment might be coming to an end.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: We gave it a try. It's just, this isn't working
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: for me.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Don't say that, bro.
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: I literally can't even breathe right now.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: I'm going to bring you back to fucking coolest spy craft.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: From Harrods.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: I'm going to buy you some fucking.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Invisible ink and a fucking invisibility cloak.
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: I'm imagining the glasses from Spy Kids that.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: They go out super long. I'm going to bring you
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: the Marauder's Map from Harry Potter.
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to need some invisibility cloak. Really anything
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: you can get your hands on.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I will, bro. Don't worry about it, but I'm going
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: to need that maxi jersey.
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: Do you feel bad that you're flying all the way
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: to London to watch the Eagles lose again?
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: It's for my sister's birthday. It's not about the outcome
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: of the game. It's who you spend it with. I guess, yeah.
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: Don't you think?
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: I mean, if you're a casual.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: What do you mean? I'm going out there to fucking
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: celebrate a loved one.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: I'd love to hear you.
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: By watching your team lose.
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: I'd love to hear you try and throw smut on that.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: I'm going to Churchill's War Room.
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: Oh, wait.
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: I've been to the Churchill's Bunkers. Is that where it is?
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm going to have to report back.
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: In London.
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: I've been to that.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: How was it?
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: It was really cool.
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard it's one of the coolest experiences you
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: can have.
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: I don't know if that is what his war room is,
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: but I mean, I don't know. I'll report back. That
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: was really cool.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: I think I need a war room.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Just get one in for the house.
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: By the way, the other cool thing from Harrods is
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: like just tins of like shortbread. they make these really
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: cool souvenir tins that have you know harrods on them
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: yeah that'd be nice.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: I've been trying to prepare and i'm like listening to
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: podcasts about it and every podcast someone's like and she
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: made me the best cup of tea i've ever had
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: and it's like bro like how is one cup of
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: tea that much better than another cup yeah i think
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: tea is a pretty uniform.
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: I agree but you should go to a high.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: Tea i am but we have a high tea plant.
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: Good where where What's the Hyde Park Hotel or something
- 1:36:47Speaker 5: like that?
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Let me check and see exactly where this Hyde Tea is.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: We didn't over plan, but we have a Hyde Tea
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: at Ham Yard. Ham Yard.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: Ham Yard. You couldn't dream of it, brother.
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: Sounds beautiful.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: You couldn't dream of Ham Yard.
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: Hyde Park is stunning. It's a great park to walk
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: around in.
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: Are you going to get the chance to get out
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: to Birmingham or no?
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: I've been to Brougham. Yeah, you got to get out.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: I've already done Brum before.
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: You should drive by the street that we crashed the
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: car on.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: I don't think I'm going to be doing much driving
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: out there, especially out to Brum. Isn't Brum like three
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: hours from London?
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: Hour and a half.
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: Not with the traffic.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: No, there's no traffic. No one's going there.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Eagles traffic.
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: Yeah, true.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: People fleeing the city.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: Because the Eagles fans are taking over. That would be
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: funny to see an Eagles fans take like. philadelphians are
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: not prepared for the poshness of london no no it's
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: the most scumbaggish city and the most posh yeah yeah
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: was that your experience that it is or is that
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: overstated the poshness or is it more dudes like central.
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: C i thought it was every time i've been to
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: england i've just been like it just feels like i'm
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: in america but like the cars are on the other
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: side of the street.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: I like london a lot I love it. I haven't
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: been in a long.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Time, probably like 15 years or so.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you should go.
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: Okay, I'll get right back on a plane.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you should go and you guys can watch the
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: Eagles lose together.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: I'm flying a Virgin.
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: Oh, sick. That's supposed to be sick.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: I heard that it's the worst flying experience because it's
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: something called the coffin seats where your legs go out
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: like into the aisle. Oh, really? Yeah.
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: It's bad?
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: I've heard that it's bad.
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: I've heard Virgin's terrible.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: What? The seven The 797-9. I'm not sure what type
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: of plane it.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: Is, but it's a- 797?
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: I wouldn't have thought. 787-9, perhaps?
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: Those planes always look like they're nightclubs. They got that
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: cool lighting and shit.
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: It's the lighting.
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That looks great.
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: I wouldn't have thought that was bad, dude.
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: It's got a full bed. It had sheets on the bed.
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: Look up Virgin Air coffin seats. Keep scrolling. That one. Yeah,
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: those ones. It's just like someone's kind of looking over
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: your shoulder.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: You're like offset a little bit.
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: It's like a half. I mean, the flight to London
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: is honestly pretty short.
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: I had doors on my Japan Air, also on my
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: Delta flight. Dude, I'll say that the Delta flight home
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: was pretty damn good.
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: Was it better than the Japan Air?
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: It wasn't far off.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: I mean, Delta One is great. When you get the
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: big Delta One flight.
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: The big, like 12, the same one I had going
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: to New Zealand. Yeah. Those huge ones, the biggest plane
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: they have, that Delta 1C is as good as it gets.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: Yeah. It's great.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: I'm taking a non-overnight flight, so I'm taking a day flight.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: I'm taking a flight at 8 in the morning, and
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I land at 8 at night.
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: You think it is?
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: I think that's great, yeah.
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: That's so nice.
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: You'll get tired. I mean, just don't sleep on the flight.
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: But it'll be fun to sleep on that flight. But
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: I'll get there, they'll have a cheeky pint.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Yeah, get a couple of pines crashed.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Have some nandos.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds pretty ideal, to be honest. I think
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: we got there at like 1 p.m.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: That sucks.
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: And you flew overnight?
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: You flew at like, what, midnight and got there at
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: like 1.
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: P.m.? Something like that. Something weird. We were there in
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: the middle of the day, and then you got to
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: do shit. You're not trying to be driving around and
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: doing shit.
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: I ain't driving. I'm not touching a fucking car. No.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: I'm just going to be going to gardens. Just going
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: from one garden to another.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Gotta hit them all.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: It's going to be sick. How was Boston? What'd you
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: do up there? Good.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: I wasn't in Boston. I was back in Mass, south
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: of Boston, of course. And it was good. I got
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: to meet my cousin's baby, which was nice.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: Good dude.
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: Girl. I held the baby. It fell through my arms. Uh,
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: not actually, but like I haven't, I haven't held a baby.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: Wait, honestly, this is your sister's baby.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: My cousins.
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: Um, my first cousin once removed.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: You dropped a baby.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: No.
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: When did your cousin have a child?
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: Uh, like a couple months ago.
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: I didn't even know she was married. Yup.
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: Well, you don't really know anything about my cousin. You
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: don't share.
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: You've been keeping this information.
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: I don't know anything about your cousins.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: I thought your sister got married.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: She did.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: When did that happen?
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: Last year.
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: And she's had a kid?
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: No.
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: You don't want to talk about it?
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: There's nothing to talk about if she hasn't had a kid.
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: But my cousin had a kid and I got to-
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: Will you tell me when you're an uncle so we
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: can bond over that? Yeah, obviously I would tell you
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: guys if my sister had a kid.
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: You don't tell us anything about your family.
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: There's been nothing to tell. What was I going to just,
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: hey guys, just want to.
- 1:41:50Speaker 5: Give you guys an update. Your sister got married and
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: you never told us. We found out months later. That's
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: not true at all. Because you were like, I went
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: back to her. That's not true at all. Hang out
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: with her husband.
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: I'm like, what? No, they put the baby, like I
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: had my arms like this and they put the baby like,
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: here and like the baby's head was here and it
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: just went right through my arm right onto my lap
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: didn't even get the punch out like immediately i'm just
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: standing the peanut punch the baby's head is below my
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: arm where the body is and i'm like well that
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: definitely isn't supposed to happen.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: You know that a baby doesn't like rest on you
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: like you're a shelf like you have to actually.
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: Hold it yeah i learned that.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: You thought it was just gonna teeter on you like.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: And then my mom like fixed the baby's head And
- 1:42:31Speaker 2: then she started crying immediately. The baby. The baby did. Oh.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: And then I was removed from holding the baby.
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: That was it?
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: That was it. I held it for probably five seconds. Good.
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: Good. I'm happy.
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: Good hold, though. It was a solid hold.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Girls have like a weird obsession with seeing a guy
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: hold a baby. They're like, do you want to hold it?
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: I mean, they're just obsessed with babies.
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: Should he hold it?
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: They love babies, but like.
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure my mom and my grandma and like
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: her sisters, like I'm pretty sure they just go over
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: every day and just pass around the baby for like
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: six hours.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: A dream baby rotation.
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. They literally just stand there just passing the
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: baby around.
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: That is nice. I enjoy holding a baby, but I
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: do baby rotation.
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: My grandma's obsessed with a baby.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: My grandma, they'd be like, oh, the baby's smiling, and
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: she's getting up from across the room, jogging over to
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: see the baby smile.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: They love that shit.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: They love it.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: It is a uniquely energizing experience.
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: Oh, definitely.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: It's as good as Phoenix.
- 1:43:30Speaker 8: It's a little bit worse than Phoenix.
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: You ever see a new mother's camera roll?
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. It's all baby.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: Four million photos of baby doing everything.
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: You take a photo of all of it.
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: Just flopping around. They are floppy. Oh, very.
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: I didn't expect them to be that floppy.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Because sometimes you'll be holding them and then their head
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: will just be.
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: Like, that's literally that's literally what happened yeah.
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: Fuck i didn't really did i just give you whiplash.
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: Yeah you really don't it's a little scary.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: It's like when you fall asleep on like an airplane
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: Yeah it's like it's it's it's definitely uh scary holding
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: someone else's baby.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: You have to keep their head you have to keep
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: their head erect oh yeah.
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Was there any part of you uh after holding the
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: baby that thought i want one of these i want
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: to have a baby someday.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: I mean, I have no idea, but yeah, maybe.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: I'm about to have a niece any day now. Really? Yeah.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: That's great. About to have a niece, yeah. I'm pretty
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: excited about it.
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: That's fantastic. This is your sister's baby?
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: My wife's sister's baby. So she already has a son.
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: First niece once removed.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: This will be my first niece once removed.
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: Let's remove that niece at least one time.
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: This is a pure niece, but I don't understand cousins
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: and removals. Because your uncle's people will be like your
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: uncle's kids.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: Removed means through marriage.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: Oh, does it?
- 1:45:03Speaker 5: Yeah, so like... Here we go.
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: I'm in enemy waters. It's really confusing.
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: My understanding before... Can I guess, Tyler, before you confirm this?
- 1:45:13Speaker 5: I think that once removed, right? So your.
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: My cousin's baby is the first cousin once removed.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: Yeah, your wife's brother or sister.
- 1:45:25Speaker 7: My wife's sister.
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: If they have a cousin. If your wife's sister's husband
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: has a cousin, that would be a cousin of yours
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: once removed. Because it's through a marriage.
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: Let's check that. And actually, I need the visual. I
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: need the image of it.
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: I'm completely wrong.
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: I love it. It says generations. Right?
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: That's what it said.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: The removal is the generation, yeah.
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: Okay, I thought it was marriage.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: So your second cousin is like your fucking... I don't.
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: Think that's helping. Can we get it written in English?
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: Go back.
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: What did it say there? That made total sense.
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: Once removed means there's a one generation difference between two
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: family members who are in different generations.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: See, my ass is visual.
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: Great-grandparent. Yeah, wait, so that makes sense. But wait, great
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: uncle or great aunt? Wait, so what if my first
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: cousin once removed has a child? Then what would that
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: cousin be? Dude. Would that be my second cousin once removed?
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: I got it completely wrong. Or that's only if it's
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: your great aunt or great uncle?
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: Or it could be first cousin twice removed. Or you
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: can also have second cousin twice removed.
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: All I know is that if it's removed twice, you
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: can have sex with it.
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: Oh, it is.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: You were right. And the child will not be a problem.
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: If it's removed twice? Yes.
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: It's not incest.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: That's how the Roosevelt's got away with it. Yeah.
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: Twice removed, you're clear.
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: That's good to know. The chance of. That's because in Iceland,
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: like everyone is second.
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: Yeah. By the way, yesterday I did my all time
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: best good deed.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: I think ever. For visibility, credit, and also for goodness
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: of act.
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: Love that. What did you do?
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: It satisfied all the categories?
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: It was just- It's very rare. It was full credit
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: to me and full credit to society.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: Love that.
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: I was at LaGuardia.
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: I landed.
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: It was at the baggage claim because I had checked
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: a bag filled with wires. shit from whatever anyway um
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: i got there was there was a very old couple
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: waiting for their bags very old yeah frail frail and
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: the husband the wife was getting the bags off the
- 1:47:53Speaker 5: belt um and her bags were coming out and she
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: had two of them and she went to grab the
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: first one and i was like oh i'll help you
- 1:48:03Speaker 5: and she's like i got it i got it thank
- 1:48:05Speaker 5: you though she grabbed them but it was like you know,
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: hard for her. And I was like, I could have
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: done that.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: And I was like, I was like, good, good. I
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: said something like, you know, good work. That looked, those were,
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: those were, she grabbed them both at the same time.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: They came out at the same time and I was like,
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: good work. She was like, thank you. And then her husband,
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: where I was like, why didn't he fucking help her?
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: His shoe was untied. Oh. And I went, I went, oh,
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: heads up on your, heads up on your shoe there.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: And he looked at me and he was like, ah.
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: And she looked at me and she goes, as you know,
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: like he's retarded.
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: At this point.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: Tell him you didn't tie his shoe.
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: He's just retarded. And so I tied his shoe.
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: I went, I got it. And because she was like
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: dealing with the bags and I got down on my
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: knee and tied his shoe.
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Double knot?
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: Loop, swoop, pull. I tied his shoe for him.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: That's genuinely insane.
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: Imagine if you caught Francis doing that. Genuflecting at the
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: altar of age.
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: What time were you at LaGuardia?
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: And by the way, the fact that all the people-
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: waiting for their bags did not simultaneously break out into applause.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: Just goes to show how far our values have eroded.
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: Because they probably thought it.
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: Was like you were like his grandson or something. Come on, man.
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: Either way. Tying his shoe.
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: Either way. Did a lot of people see you? Were
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: you centrally located?
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: Enough people.
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: We were right at the spout. Yeah, we were right
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: at the spout.
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: Oh, nice.
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: And I'll tell you what, dude. Whatever happened to like,
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: you know, worshiping our heroes.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: The greatest generation.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: We used to build shrines.
- 1:49:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: We've been pretty shrine-less. There's just no one to worship.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: They're tearing them down.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: Where are the shrines?
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: When was the last time we built a shrine? Who
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: were we building? Kobe's got a shrine.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: That's fair. Nick Foles got one after the Philly special.
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: Kobe's got a shrine at the Staples Center.
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: Brady's got one.
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: Brady got a shrine. It's just athletes.
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: It's only sports heroes. Yeah, everybody else has had their
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: shrines taken down. because they were slavers.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: Yeah right you know guy you write one blog about
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: a dead girl and all of a sudden you don't
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: get your shrine yeah because the south doesn't.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: Like it yeah you probably wouldn't have known that you
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: lost your shrine then no no that's.
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: The it is nice to to die thinking your shrine
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: is still.
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah you either.
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: Live long enough to see yourself become the yeah.
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: See a shrine get torn down. A hero could be.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Anyone, even a young guy tying the shoe of a
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: guy who's not his grandfather.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: Or Christopher Columbus.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: I had a flight yesterday from Boston. Wait, Harry, can
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: I just, before you say that. Of course.
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: That quote of a hero can be anybody, even someone
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: putting a coat around the shoulders of a boy to
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: let him know the world hasn't ended.
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: You never saw Batman Begins.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: So, do you even know what that quote means? I mean,
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: I thought I did. Dude, this hit me like a
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: ton of bricks in the middle of, like, the night.
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: There are so many moments in both The Dark Knight
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: and The Dark Knight Rises that refer... To the first movie,
- 1:51:40Speaker 5: which you never saw, and you love the others.
- 1:51:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: How can you deal with that? I guess I must
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: have just assumed that I understood the references, and I don't.
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: Because I have no idea.
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: Gordon comforts Bruce Wayne after his parents are killed.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: But don't they show that in The Dark Knight? Briefly.
- 1:52:00Speaker 5: You wouldn't have.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: No, I think I do. I think I did remember.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: I don't know, hairball.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: Because I... do feel like they provide a lot of
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: context so that you don't have to watch the shitty
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: first one.
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: It's not shitty all right sorry you were saying you
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: were um i was just.
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: Gonna add a flight from boston yesterday so i might
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: have what time did you get to the airport to
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: la guardia.
- 1:52:20Speaker 5: 6 30 p.m oh never mind not even close i
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: was there like one i missed my flight yesterday you
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: did yeah.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: How?
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, so I woke up, I set my alarm
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: for 8.20, and then I woke up, or no, I
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: set my alarm for 8, and then I woke up,
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: and I was like, I don't got to be up
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: for like 20 minutes. So I set it again for 8.20,
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: never went off. And then my mom woke me up
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: at 9.15.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: So it's your alarm's fault. Your alarm didn't go off.
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: No, it was my fault, and it was my Uber
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: driver's fault.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: You didn't set the alarm.
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: No, you didn't.
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: I did. I showed it to my mom. I said, look,
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: it's set.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: There's no way that you set your alarm and the
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: iPhone malfunctioned. You set the alarm and it didn't go off.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: That happens quite often.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah. The most basic piece of technology they
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: have just doesn't work. Everything else works. They connect to
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: a satellite within milliseconds, but they couldn't get your alarm right.
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: You don't know shit. You don't know shit about tech.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: It's somebody else's fault.
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: You don't know shit about technology.
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: My alarm didn't go off.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: Nothing.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Did you tell that to the gate agents? I'm sure
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: they would have held the plane for you.
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: Well, no.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: Where I was going with the story was... So I
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: set the alarm, doesn't go off, whatever. Then I get
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: an Uber. Has this ever happened to you guys where
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: you get an Uber? And the Uber... I mean, obviously,
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: I'm in the suburbs of Massachusetts, so I'm not expecting
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: it to be like a one-minute Uber, but I'm getting
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: one that's 20 minutes away. And I know there's Ubers
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: that are closer, so I cancel. And then I get
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: a new one. Same person accepts it. And then I'm going...
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: I canceled like five times, and the same person kept
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: on taking the drive. I just had to wait.
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: So you had to get that person?
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: So I had to get that person, and then I
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: missed my.
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: That's a time when I bump up, I'll go to-
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: I think I was already there. Black.
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: I don't think we even had that as an option.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:54:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: Deluxbury?
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it's not like- Everything's black out there.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: It's all black.
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: It's all black.
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: It's all black.
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: It's actually all. It's actually almost all white. But.
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: But.
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: Beat you to it. I beat you to it.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: He did.
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: I didn't even hear. I didn't even hear because I was.
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: Tie his shoe.
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: Tie his shoe. I was actively saying it. But anyways.
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: So I'm in the Uber and I, this is my
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: least favorite feeling when I'm like, I know I'm going
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: to miss the flight. So I'm looking at other flights
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: and I'm like, those flights are filling up. And then
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: I get on and I'm like, finally get to a
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: point where I'm like, okay, there's literally no chance I'm
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: going to make this flight. It was an 11 AM flight.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: I got to the airport at 10 50.
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: Oh my.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: So I'm like, yeah.
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: So, right.
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: So I changed my flight. I changed it in the
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: car to, The 12 p.m. They got one every hour.
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: So I'm like, all right, it's not, I'm pretty much
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: on time for the 12 p.m. Like, this isn't that bad.
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: And then I get through security. They're still boarding the 11.
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: They were only on zone three.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Did you go back to the 11?
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: I couldn't.
- 1:55:12Speaker 5: It was sold out.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: But did you, so you got rid of your ticket?
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: I got rid of my ticket. I had no choice.
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: I had to change my flight.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: You had to change.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: But you were on the 12th.
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: I was on the 12th. So it wasn't that big
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: of a deal, but I could have made the 11.
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: Isn't that brutal? Imagine if that was like a flight like.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: Like my London flight where it's like there's an 8
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: o'clock and then there's not one until 3 o'clock.
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: Like I change and then you get... Like seeing them boarding,
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: I was like, you got to be fucking kidding me. Yeah.
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: No email, nothing.
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: That would have made me sick to my stomach.
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: I was fine though. Like I said, I was literally,
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: I was just on time. I waited for like 15
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: minutes for the noon flight.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's very nice.
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: That does have me spooked about missing this flight to London, though.
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: That was my first miss in a minute. Felt good.
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: Love getting one.
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: I haven't missed a flight. I don't know when the
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: last time was.
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: The last time I missed one before that was when
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: we were all going to Chicago. And I missed it
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: while they were still boarding again, but the lady wouldn't
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: let me board.
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: All of us did?
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: When we were all going? Yeah, for something.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: Because your alarm didn't go off. Because your alarm was broken.
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:56:17Speaker 2: Well, my phone is actually fucking destroyed.
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: My phone has been acting up, too. The planned obsolescence
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: is kicking in.
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's because they just put out a new iPhone
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: that has the longest battery life that they've ever had,
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: so they want everyone to buy it. Yeah, my battery
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: life is a disaster.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: My battery life is plummeting, and every time I try
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: to look up one of my contacts, it just isn't there.
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: Oh, no. Bro, what is that about? The searching on settings,
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: there's never any results.
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: It only works if I put it in someone's last name.
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: If I put it in first name, it doesn't work.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: But if I go through my recent text messages, it's
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: like I never texted anyone before.
- 1:56:52Speaker 5: Couldn't agree more.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: But if I go through contacts... Yeah, the.
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: Software is completely fucked. What the fuck is going on?
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: iOS is buggy as all hell. What can you do?
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: I actually had a great weekend, though, because I just
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: hung out with my family all day, and then they
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: all go to bed at like 8 p.m. So then
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: I would just play video games all night just at
- 1:57:13Speaker 2: my parents' house in the living room. There's a whole
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: house of food and snacks.
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: That is good.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: It was great.
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: That's nice.
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: It was a little blast from the past.
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: That's kind of like me in the pool house. Yeah,
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: it felt like that.
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: What kind of snacks are your parents packing?
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: Swiss rolls.
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: What's that?
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: All right, we're going to end it there. Let's wrap
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: it up there.
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: I don't know what those are.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: Swiss rolls. You guys don't know what Swiss rolls are?
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: Like honey buns.
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: They're like similar, but no, it's more on the.
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: Oh, they're like a hostess type. Yeah.
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: Wow. Took down a Swiss roll late.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Nice. Is that a single count or are there two
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: in a pack?
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: Two.
- 1:57:51Speaker 2: Come on now.
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: My hotel every morning put out a big branch of
- 1:57:55Speaker 5: fresh grapes.
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: Every day. Oh, wow.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: At your room?
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: In my room.
- 1:57:59Speaker 5: Every room.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: It's a lot of grapes.
- 1:58:02Speaker 5: I ate the whole thing. It was a lot of grapes.
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: And they were huge grapes.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: I didn't realize how many sizes to grapes there were.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: Have you seen the long ones? They got long grapes now.
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: Long grapes? Yeah. No. They're almost like a pencil. Oh, no. Yeah.
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: Look at these things. Long grapes.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: Penis grapes.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy?
- 1:58:22Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: Very phallic. Moondrops.
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: That's what people call them. Oh, cool. Good. Or sweet sapphires,
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: if that's That's kind of the more.
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: I got some blueberries recently, organic blueberries.
- 1:58:33Speaker 2: No one wants to hear about your blueberries.
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: They were huge. Hear me out.
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: I'm okay with the blueberry talk.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: They were planetary. They were so big, but they were organic.
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: My wife throws them right in the trash. She's like,
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: these aren't organic. They cannot be growing that big if
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: they're organic. And then I checked the blueberries this morning.
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: They're like fucking microbeads. She just had little fucking raindrop blueberries.
- 1:58:57Speaker 5: Yeah, those are the wild ones, probably.
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: Wild.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: The tiniest blueberries you've ever seen.
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: That's what we're known for in Maine. The Maine wild blueberries.
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: People think our big export. I'm sorry?
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: Big or small? Tiny. Little deer droppings. I like the
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: big ones. Like, look at that. Oh, my God. Those
- 1:59:11Speaker 2: are tennis balls.
- 1:59:12Speaker 5: Those are big.
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: Holy shit. She had some tennis balls, but they were organic.
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: Holy shit. Those are literally like the pool balls.
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: Yeah. You could like skip one of those on the lake.
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: I would love that. Imagine eating a blueberry like an apple.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: Sounds like everyone wants to hear about the blueberries. Sounds
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: like the blueberries are the most.
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: Tyler pulled up a great photo of the blueberries.
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: Because you need a visual aid. You need a picture
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: book to understand what's going on in the story.
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: He literally just saved the episode.
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: Look at this.
- 1:59:40Speaker 5: You get Harry one good present and he turns all
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: his ire away from me to you. Normally, he and
- 1:59:46Speaker 5: I are arguing like this, but I got him a
- 1:59:48Speaker 5: good present.
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: I mean, I've never seen blueberries like that.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what we were working with.
- 1:59:53Speaker 5: There was a children's book I read growing up called
- 1:59:55Speaker 5: Blueberries for Sal.
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I've read that. You read that? Yeah.
- 1:59:59Speaker 5: That was the one that really put me on to
- 2:00:00Speaker 5: how Maine is famous for our blueberries. Sal?
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: I used to read that all the time.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: Yeah. The Impractical Joker?
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: It's a great book. Volcano?
- 2:00:08Speaker 5: Yeah, he wrote it.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: There's a bunch of these. My grandparents used to have
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: all of them.
- 2:00:14Speaker 5: Sal, as the protagonist?
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: I think so, yeah.
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: Did you get any presents for the little baby that
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: you held?
- 2:00:18Speaker 5: Did she just eat other fruits and stuff? Maybe Sal's
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: a guy.
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: Did you buy any presents for the baby?
- 2:00:24Speaker 6: No.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: Your bad uncle?
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: Well, I'm not an uncle.
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: Once removed. You should have got something for them.
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: Maybe there aren't a bunch of them. Maybe we just
- 2:00:37Speaker 2: had multiple copies of it.
- 2:00:42Speaker 5: I'm not seeing too many other fruits for Sal. I
- 2:00:47Speaker 5: think there'd be apples for Sal based on what you said.
- 2:00:53Speaker 5: Miss Rumpheus was the other one I loved. The Lupin Lady.
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: See, I don't know any of these bitches.
- 2:01:00Speaker 2: Howling the Purple Cran. It's a classic. I think you
- 2:01:02Speaker 2: come to learn that children's books are a bit regional maybe.
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: What did you guys have um good night moon.
- 2:01:10Speaker 7: Yeah yeah of course see those are the bangers though
- 2:01:12Speaker 7: yeah hungry caterpillar caterpillar we.
- 2:01:15Speaker 2: Never really even read those ones they were a little
- 2:01:16Speaker 2: too mainstream you're you're blueberries.
- 2:01:19Speaker 5: For an indie book children's yeah.
- 2:01:21Speaker 2: Harold and the purple crayon blueberries for.
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: Sale yeah what lessons were you learning.
- 2:01:26Speaker 2: Sal and hobbes oh that's what i was thinking of
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: calvin and salvin and salvin and hobbes.
- 2:01:35Speaker 1: Calvin and Hobbes was great. That shit was genuinely funny.
- 2:01:38Speaker 5: So good.
- 2:01:39Speaker 2: Calvin and Hobbes was so good. It really was. Banging.
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: They were buddies too. Fuck, maybe that's what my kids
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: should be for Halloween.
- 2:01:46Speaker 5: The one thing about Calvin and Hobbes that was odd
- 2:01:48Speaker 5: was that everyone's in a while. What was the guy,
- 2:01:52Speaker 5: Bill Watterson? Yeah, he'd throw like a strip in that
- 2:01:58Speaker 5: was just like pure philosophy.
- 2:02:00Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 2:02:01Speaker 5: It would usually be one where they would be racing
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: down the hill on the wagon. And it was like
- 2:02:07Speaker 5: way over my head as a seven-year-old.
- 2:02:11Speaker 2: Or like a nine-year-old.
- 2:02:12Speaker 5: I couldn't understand what the fuck was going on. I
- 2:02:15Speaker 5: guess that's the point, though, is that he made it
- 2:02:17Speaker 5: for all ages.
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: Know what I pray for?
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: What?
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: The strength to change what I can, the inability to
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: accept what I can't, and the incapacity to tell the difference.
- 2:02:27Speaker 5: Oh, that's great. That's the flip on the famous....
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: You should lead an interesting life. Oh, I already do. Fuck,
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: that's nice.
- 2:02:35Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a lot of existentialism, which I just remember
- 2:02:40Speaker 5: reading it and being like, well, I have no idea
- 2:02:42Speaker 5: what's going on. And then it'd be like, all right,
- 2:02:44Speaker 5: now there's monsters under the bed again. Phew.
- 2:02:47Speaker 1: They're racing again. Yeah. Perfect.
- 2:02:49Speaker 5: He's being tackled out the door. Thank God.
- 2:02:51Speaker 2: It is really good.
- 2:02:53Speaker 5: It's really good.
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: The dad and the.
- 2:02:54Speaker 5: Parents were very funny. The dad was hysterical.
- 2:02:59Speaker 2: I used to have like the big books.
- 2:03:00Speaker 5: Yeah, the anthology ones. Yeah, those were awesome.
- 2:03:02Speaker 2: Those are great.
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: Did you watch Caillou growing up?
- 2:03:04Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: Caillou is the whiniest little bitch I've ever heard in
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: my life.
- 2:03:09Speaker 2: We didn't really watch it long.
- 2:03:10Speaker 1: Mommy, why can't I play with the toy? Bro, this
- 2:03:14Speaker 1: is teaching kids to be bitches.
- 2:03:16Speaker 5: I didn't know this.
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: There's like a channel of Caillou that's like, somehow my
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: kids can fucking like, it's just what's on the. TV,
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: like you could just turn it on. It's all Caillou
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: all day. And it's just this little whiny kid.
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we got to a point where when Caillou came on,
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: we changed the channel. Like me and my sisters were like,
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: get this shit off.
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: Mom, I want to play. It's like teaching the worst
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: tone and perspective to have for children everywhere.
- 2:03:46Speaker 5: Bluey's the thing now for everybody. My nieces and nephew.
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Paw Patrol as well.
- 2:03:53Speaker 5: They've they've moved off Paw Patrol in favor of Bluey.
- 2:03:58Speaker 8: Really?
- 2:03:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: You got to see if they're on to their ACAB. Yeah.
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: It's either your Paw Patrol or your Miss Rachel.
- 2:04:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:04:06Speaker 1: You can go either side of the political spectrum. Have
- 2:04:09Speaker 1: you guys have you had any kids in your life
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: put you on to Danny Go?
- 2:04:14Speaker 2: No.
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: This guy's a fucking wild man. This guy goes so
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: fucking hard in the paint. Oh, it looks like sensory overstimulation.
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: Like he'll have your kids drooling, just like maybe having
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: a seizure. Honestly, like there's so much going on on
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: a Danny go. Freak. Very simple.
- 2:04:34Speaker 2: Danny's a freak.
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: Don't say that, bro.
- 2:04:36Speaker 2: I can tell just from the photo.
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: He's for the kids.
- 2:04:38Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: Bro, watch your pick your next words carefully.
- 2:04:43Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:04:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:04:47Speaker 2: Let's wrap this up.
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: Let's wrap this shit up. We have multiple shows this week.
- 2:04:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:04:50Speaker 2: I think we just went for like two hours.
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 2:04:53Speaker 5: I mean, I talked 90% of it.
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:04:58Speaker 2: We will see you guys on Thursday. Thank you. Goodbye.
