- 1:05And now, I'm your host, William Ross.
- 1:08And this week's topic, we are talking about the RM Sotheby's auction in Paris,
- 1:13where there's some heavy hitting cars that went across the block, as we all know,
- 1:17the one Mercedes went earlier in the week.
- 1:20Now, but we're going to discuss some of these other ones, but the big
- 1:23one was the 1965 Ferrari 250 LM.
- 1:28I'm sorry, the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that won the 1965.
- 1:32Overall, with Yoke and Rint and Mast and Gregory.
- 1:38There was a lot of other stuff in there that was Ferrari
- 1:40related that wasn't sold on this.
- 1:42So there was some interesting stuff.
- 1:43Some stuff sold, some stuff did not, some stuff went cheap.
- 1:47You know, there's some, uh, interesting I guess you would say trinkets that
- 1:51went by, you know, stuff's not cheap.
- 1:54There was a nardy steering wheel that did not sell.
- 1:57I didn't catch what the high bid was on that.
- 1:59Cause I jumped in a little bit late, but you know, they had an S
- 2:01between the two to 4, 000 euros.
- 2:03So I would say it was bid under 2, 000 cause it didn't sell.
- 2:07So.
- 2:08I don't know.
- 2:09I think that's right in the range of about 2, 500 bucks for that.
- 2:11But I guess no one needed a new nardy steering wheel for their Ferrari.
- 2:16Then there was another one that was a F 300 formula one engine signed by Michael
- 2:21Schumacher that went for 48, 000 euros.
- 2:24That's kind of interesting.
- 2:25I mean.
- 2:26I don't know, I guess you're just going to display that thing because
- 2:28it's not like it's going to be able to run again or anything like that.
- 2:31Then there was a Gilles Villeneuve Cavalino Trophy
- 2:35that sold for 12, 000 Euros.
- 2:38Obviously the name tied to that is going to push it up there in value wise, but
- 2:43that's a neat little trinket for somebody.
- 2:45That's pretty cool.
- 2:45That's, you know, that's for the person that's got everything Ferrari.
- 2:49Then they had an F40 luggage set that was done up by Chidoni,
- 2:53who, uh, if I'm not pronouncing that correctly, I apologize, but.
- 2:5643, 200 euros for some luggage.
- 3:00So it was basically three pieces, hangers, some, and the bags for me like that.
- 3:05But I mean, obviously they're not making them anymore.
- 3:07So whoever got their hands on that was wanting to complete the,
- 3:11what they have for their F 40.
- 3:12So, cause obviously the more stuff you have for it, the better and
- 3:15the higher it's going to sell.
- 3:16Now this is because right after that was a toolkit for an F 40.
- 3:20So my guess.
- 3:22Same owner had that and just didn't bother to include it with the sale of his F40.
- 3:27He decided to hold on to it.
- 3:29I cannot stand that.
- 3:31When people have the stuff that goes with the car, that when it
- 3:35left the factory had all the little accoutrements, and then they don't send
- 3:39it along its way when they sell it.
- 3:41They keep it.
- 3:41And then it's just like little piecemeal things.
- 3:43It's just wrong.
- 3:44It's rude.
- 3:44It's just Just sell everything that came with it.
- 3:47The big one that's always annoys me is the f50 I don't know if anyone knows
- 3:51or is aware of it The fact is but f50 actually came with your own pair of
- 3:55racing shoes was one of the things that came with it And that's a rare
- 3:59oddity to have those included with the car So then there were a couple
- 4:02of race suits from Michael Schumacher.
- 4:04The first one went for 6, 000 It's 62, 400, but that was from 2003, but
- 4:10then the one that was just a year old or 2002 went for 48, 000 euros.
- 4:14So, not signed by him, anything like that, so, but it was one of his race suits.
- 4:18I guess that'd be something cool to frame up, put on your wall, you
- 4:22know, put in a nice glass case, do something really nice to it.
- 4:24Cause I doubt you'd fit into it, but unless you're a tiny person,
- 4:27but I don't know, would you wear it?
- 4:28I mean.
- 4:29Me, I'd probably wear it if I could fit in it, but I doubt it highly.
- 4:33Now the next one that came up that did not sell though was just an engine
- 4:36from a 512 BB LM. Unbelievable engine.
- 4:40I was a little surprised this didn't sell because you can kind of put
- 4:42this thing in quite a few things.
- 4:44And there was actually a actual 512 BB LM that went later in the auction.
- 4:50So again, why they didn't sell this as a pair?
- 4:53Hey, you got, you know, send a Spare engine along with your new 512 BBLM.
- 4:57I don't know.
- 4:58Again, some of this stuff is just nonsense.
- 5:00And it just irritates the hell out of me doing it.
- 5:03But, that would have been a nice piece.
- 5:04I don't know what it got put up to.
- 5:06Because again, this is about where I jumped in at here.
- 5:08Few vehicles after that.
- 5:10Few lots, I guess you could say.
- 5:11I came in because I was a little bit sidetracked.
- 5:14So, I came in with right about a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT by Scaglietti.
- 5:21Yeah.
- 5:21So for 342, 500 euros, that's actually pretty good right
- 5:26there on the money for that car.
- 5:27Now, these things have been gaining value, getting a lot of traction.
- 5:31People have been kind of overlooking the fact that, you know, originally
- 5:35there's, they weren't called Ferraris.
- 5:37It was, you know, you know, just the Dino, you know, it was assembled by Fiat.
- 5:41It had a Ferrari engine, but everything else.
- 5:43But in subsequent years, people kind of, I guess, turned the tide
- 5:47and said, no, that's a Ferrari.
- 5:49And a lot of people, Remove the Dino badge and put a Ferrari badge on there.
- 5:54They're gorgeous, gorgeous cars, small.
- 5:56I don't fit in it.
- 5:57So, I mean, I could fit in it, but just not comfortably.
- 6:00Beautiful car, but that was about right where it is on the money.
- 6:02Those things are getting really, really popular out in the marketplace.
- 6:06I'm not quite sure why.
- 6:07I mean, it's not like it's got tons of horsepower, but, you know, fun
- 6:10little car, light, toss it around.
- 6:12It's like a little go kart, so you can have some fun with it.
- 6:14Little bit fragile, but, you know, hey, it's one of those things to
- 6:18enjoy and just have some fun with it.
- 6:20You know, it's like, why not?
- 6:21You got the money, spend it.
- 6:23Ciao!
- 6:23The next item that came up that was a Ferrari was a 599 GTO.
- 6:30Now there was a lot of, I don't want to say pushback, but there
- 6:32was a lot of scuttlebutt when they came out with the 599 GTO.
- 6:37Because people thought, you know, that moniker Only gets attached to
- 6:42very special Ferraris and some Chevys.
- 6:46But anyways, so there was a lot of push because it's like, Oh, it's not special.
- 6:50If they really didn't do enough for it to be considered a GTO and
- 6:53you know, putting that tag to it, was it a money grab by Ferrari?
- 6:58Possibly, but.
- 6:59Again, these are jumping up in price, too, and this thing sold for 815, 000 Euros.
- 7:04Now, these numbers are all in, so this is including buyer
- 7:07fees and everything like that.
- 7:08I think RM's at, like, 12 percent the first 100, 000, then, uh, 5 percent
- 7:13on the balance, something like that.
- 7:15Getting up there, so, if you want to do the math, have at it.
- 7:17These things have been gaining value and 599s have been getting a lot of traction.
- 7:21Awesome car, absolutely awesome car.
- 7:25That's one of the ones that everyone's buying.
- 7:27Because you can get them for 150, 000, 140, 000 with low mileage,
- 7:30great services, right like that, and just do a manual swap on it.
- 7:33There is only 30 worldwide, 20 for the U. S., in a manual, factory manual
- 7:39599 GT, uh, 599 GTP, I should say.
- 7:42The GTO, so they started to come out with other variants and everything
- 7:45like that, but you know, fantastic car.
- 7:48Oh, sounds beautiful.
- 7:49Fantastic car.
- 7:51So, that was, you know, probably about right where the money's at on those.
- 7:55Um, that wasn't too shocking.
- 7:57It's not too difficult to find those out in the marketplace, though.
- 8:00So, you know, it's always kind of interesting when these
- 8:02people, uh, you know, send this kind of stuff to the auction.
- 8:05Because the one thing I always kind of tell people in regards to, you
- 8:09know, sending a car to auction, you know, and then especially if it
- 8:13doesn't sell, you kind of tainted it.
- 8:15Because now it's like, well, that's what people are willing to pay for it.
- 8:19Now, granted, it all depends on who is in the room, who is
- 8:21on the phone, who is following.
- 8:23Yeah, there's some variables, but that's all public knowledge now.
- 8:26So everyone's going to think, no, it's only worth that.
- 8:28So you kind of screw the pooch when you do that.
- 8:31If it doesn't sell, um, that's why I kind of, a lot of people, well,
- 8:34if you're going to do it, do no reserve, but you know, that's a big
- 8:37old gamble on the other side of it.
- 8:39People say, well, people know we'll sell them when you do a no reserve.
- 8:43So it has a tendency to have a little more panache to it.
- 8:47So it gets a little more value to it.
- 8:48So it all depends what your mindset is and you know, how much the
- 8:54auction house talks you into it and how much they try and butter it up.
- 8:57Cause I, some of these, you know, the auction house will bid themselves,
- 9:01not so much a no reserves, but you know, they're, they do all these
- 9:04backdoor things and stuff like that.
- 9:06You know, that's one thing why I really am not a fan of taking
- 9:09a car to an auction house.
- 9:11They're not no different from any other auction that's selling off of
- 9:14farm equipment from a farmer that went bust or something like that.
- 9:17You know, I mean, it's just, I don't know.
- 9:20I'm just not a fan.
- 9:21There's some cool stuff to him, but Anyways, that's my opinion.
- 9:25Now, the next one came up and this was a heck of a deal, I thought.
- 9:28It was a 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge race car.
- 9:32Now, that one went, sold all in for 109, 250 euros.
- 9:37I thought that was a heck of a deal.
- 9:39Now, if you look at the Challenge Stradale's, you know, obviously it's a
- 9:42road legal version of that car, basically.
- 9:46Not as hardcore, uh, not as stripped out, but.
- 9:51I don't think it would take all that much to take that challenge car and
- 9:55turn it in and make it street legal.
- 9:56If you really wanted to.
- 9:57Now it's got an F1 transmission in it.
- 10:00It's a little bit quicker, but that's kind of, it's very raw.
- 10:04Fantastic car, but for someone that wants to go racing, do track days, something
- 10:07like that, do some historic stuff.
- 10:09That is a fantastic car to go do it.
- 10:12It's very, very well mannered, very neutral.
- 10:15fantastic car.
- 10:16Um, you know, not that difficult to work on, still get spares
- 10:20for everything like that.
- 10:21So you're not really left in a lurch.
- 10:22So that was a very, very good buy.
- 10:26Now, the next one we're going to talk about was one of the big
- 10:29hitters, the 1970 Ferrari 512 M, one of the only ones in yellow.
- 10:35Now this thing is stunning and it sounds fantastic.
- 10:39That got bid.
- 10:41up to a little over 7 million and they had the low estimate of nine.
- 10:49So they were saying nine to 12 million euros.
- 10:52So it went just a little bit over seven.
- 10:54So it was pretty dang low in regards to Where it was going to go, um, which
- 11:00was very surprising to me, and it was very surprising to a lot of people in
- 11:05the room, online, everything like that.
- 11:08I had a conversation with someone after that thing did not sell,
- 11:12and everyone was really shocked that that thing didn't sell.
- 11:17I mean, it's got people talking about, okay, Seinfeld sent his 917 through.
- 11:23Uh, in Kissimmee, and it didn't sell 25 million, you know, was that just a ploy?
- 11:27Was that just a play?
- 11:28Was that just something by Dana Mecham and Jerry and stuff?
- 11:31Hey, Dana stroked him a check for half a mil or something like that.
- 11:35You know, hey, bring it down, we'll pay for everything, and we just
- 11:38won't sell it, blah, blah, blah.
- 11:40You know, we just want publicity, something along those lines, which,
- 11:42hey, if that's the case, that's genius.
- 11:44But, it kind of sours things, because people are like Wait a minute, he just
- 11:48bought that not, well, a few years ago for 13, 000, 000 or something like that.
- 11:52Again, though, it's not like he needs the money.
- 11:53But anyways, so this thing basically got bid up to roughly just under
- 12:002, 000, 000 below its low estimate.
- 12:02I mean, that's significant for a car like that with its race
- 12:05history, everything like that.
- 12:06So, I mean, was the owner greedy?
- 12:09Thinking it was worth more?
- 12:10Was the auction house wrong with the value?
- 12:13And placing that, but I mean, that's significant.
- 12:161. 7 million euros below the low estimate.
- 12:20I don't know.
- 12:20And dot maybe, well, Hey, after the sale, do something, you know, uh, close
- 12:24it with somebody after the sale to kind of negotiate, but that's a big jump.
- 12:291. 7 million is quite a bit to try and close the gap and make people happy.
- 12:34And my guess is the owner of that car was like, I'm not budging from my low estimate
- 12:40of 9 million or something like that.
- 12:41And again, who knows what the reserve was?
- 12:43I mean, that's an unknown number.
- 12:45I mean, could it have been like 8.
- 12:465, maybe something along those lines?
- 12:488. 2 or 8 million, maybe?
- 12:51I don't know.
- 12:52It'd be interesting to find out, but the thing is still available.
- 12:54It's still, you know, good.
- 12:56Still available for sale through RM.
- 12:58Curious to see in a week or so here, I'll find out.
- 13:00I'll let everybody know what they're trying to get out of that car.
- 13:03But I mean, that's a stunning car.
- 13:05I mean, unbelievable race history.
- 13:07It's yellow.
- 13:08It's not red.
- 13:09You know, I mean, just fantastic car.
- 13:12Again, what's going on with race cars in this market right now?
- 13:16They're not selling.
- 13:17It's a little strange.
- 13:18Now, the next Ferrari that came up was a few lots after that.
- 13:22And again, I felt this was a heck of a deal.
- 13:25Now I don't know if it had it's um, battery redone.
- 13:30Cause I know after a certain amount of Ferrari did a recall or
- 13:32something like that and they swapped the battery out for free I think.
- 13:35Or it was like a hundred grand, I don't know.
- 13:36But after a certain point the batteries on those things needed
- 13:39to be changed no matter what.
- 13:41But this thing sold at 3.
- 13:4355
- 13:46million euros.
- 13:47And it's yellow.
- 13:48So I think, you know, that gives it some value.
- 13:51I thought this was a heck of a buy.
- 13:53In my opinion, wafts are more up in the 4 million range, 4.
- 13:59Three maybe, something like that, depending on mileage, service
- 14:02history, and that kind of stuff.
- 14:04Or if it's a U. S. version.
- 14:05Again, I think someone got a heck of a deal.
- 14:07They bought it at the low end of the market, that's for sure.
- 14:10So someone's going to have a, a LaF, that's a LaF, no, a LaF Ferrari.
- 14:15For a heck of a deal, go out and enjoy it and have some fun.
- 14:18I've never had the opportunity to drive one or sit in one.
- 14:21But from my understanding, they're fantastic cars to drive.
- 14:25Very easy.
- 14:25I mean, just incredible stuff.
- 14:27So, again, someone got themselves a heck of a deal on that car.
- 14:31So, have fun and enjoy.
- 14:33Now, the next one that popped up was right after the LaFerrari.
- 14:38Was a 1981 Ferrari 512 BBLM.
- 14:42Now this is the one where that engine that did not sell before should have
- 14:45went with this or should be stuck with this instead of selling them separate.
- 14:49Now, that one got bid up to 1.
- 14:536. Low estimate.
- 14:56Two million euros.
- 14:58Are you far off?
- 14:59Yes or no.
- 15:00I mean, obviously 400, 000 doesn't seem, is a lot, but you
- 15:04know, you start talking to it.
- 15:05So I was surprised I didn't find a happy medium with someone in the room
- 15:09or on the phone with that car and move it along and find a new owner.
- 15:12It wasn't that big of a gap.
- 15:14Unless, again, unless the owner was sticking to their guns and said nope,
- 15:19this is what I want, this is what I'm sticking to, I ain't budging.
- 15:23I don't know, but it's still available for sale.
- 15:25Great for historics, everything like that.
- 15:27You know, it's on that cusp of a lot more things becoming eligible, like, you
- 15:31know, year wise, everything like that.
- 15:32But, that would be such a fun track car.
- 15:34It's a very unique car, especially the bodywork's unbelievable on that car.
- 15:38It is so, I don't want to say aerodynamic, but just swoopy.
- 15:43It's a great looking car.
- 15:44I think that's my opinion.
- 15:46But again, it did not sell and race car street car.
- 15:52I mean, way below estimate.
- 15:54I mean, unbelievable.
- 15:56The next one that came across that did not sell.
- 15:59was a 1950 51 Ferrari 212 225 export by body by Vignale.
- 16:06They were asking, the low estimate was around 2.
- 16:105 million euros.
- 16:11It got bid to 1.
- 16:129. Not that far off, but now you're marketing.
- 16:16Who's going to want to buy that car shrinks a bit.
- 16:20I would think possibly that would be, you know, millimillion eligible.
- 16:25Obviously go to myself that, I mean, it would be eligible for a majority
- 16:29of the events around the world.
- 16:31I'm surprised, again, they didn't find a happy medium between someone
- 16:34in the room or on the phone to have someone take this thing home.
- 16:37It's, that one was a little baffling itself, so I'm not quite sure why that one
- 16:42didn't move along to a new home either.
- 16:44But again, it was just, it's a, it's a weird market.
- 16:47Weird things going on stuff that should sells not selling stuff that
- 16:51you sells you're like jeez for that much again I don't know next up.
- 16:55It was right after the 212 was a 2005 Ferrari Super Amaro stunning
- 17:00stunning car Fantastic car again, though, but it was kind of weird.
- 17:06It got bid up to 550, 000 euros The low estimate was 650, 000.
- 17:13Meet in the middle.
- 17:14I mean, 50, 000 to you, 50, 000 to me.
- 17:16Come on.
- 17:17Find that happy medium.
- 17:18I am surprised that did not find a home.
- 17:22Because one rarity on that car, first of all, you know, is one of
- 17:27the things, I am just amazed that it, uh, didn't, especially the fact Five.
- 17:32It's a manual 550 super.
- 17:34I mean, it's a manual.
- 17:36I mean, great color combination.
- 17:38Silver.
- 17:38The red.
- 17:39How could that not find a home?
- 17:41And how could they not find a medium?
- 17:43I mean, someone step up.
- 17:44This thing is stunning.
- 17:46I just, I don't know.
- 17:47That one was a baffling one.
- 17:49How it did not sell again.
- 17:52That was a head scratcher on that one because it's a stunning car.
- 17:57Manual transmission.
- 17:59Weird.
- 17:59You know, being based on the 575.
- 18:01Five.
- 18:03how few actual manual just base 575s were built then you got the super america
- 18:09based on that it's a 5 7 and i'm trying to remember top of my head i think it was
- 18:14just around 43 of them were all produced with the manual transmission so i mean
- 18:19that is a rare rare bird And I don't think it would take much to get that, you know,
- 18:23to import it in here to the United States, kind of federalized somehow, some way.
- 18:27Whether there's a will, there's a way.
- 18:28But again, I don't know, man, that was just odd.
- 18:31I figured that was a slam dunk.
- 18:33And it stalled at 550, 000 Euros.
- 18:37When you got standard, a manual 575 going for 350, 300, 350
- 18:45maybe range, maybe a little more.
- 18:47And then you got the rarity of this.
- 18:50I, again, I don't know.
- 18:52That was a big head scratcher.
- 18:54Now on to the granddaddy of the whole day, I guess you could say,
- 18:58or the two days of this auction.
- 19:02The 1964 Ferrari 250 LM. The 1965 Le Mans winner by Masten,
- 19:09Gregory, and Jochen Ritt.
- 19:10That is a great story on that because, you know, that's one of those deals where
- 19:14the moon and the stars and everything aligned Didn't really even want to race.
- 19:17They didn't think there's no way this car is gonna make it So they beat the
- 19:20shit out of it in the beginning just pounding and pounding and pounding
- 19:24it and it just wouldn't break They actually had to go hunt down Cause he
- 19:30was basically getting, I think like halfway gone track, something like that.
- 19:34He like disappeared cause he's like, Oh, it's not going to last.
- 19:37And Madison Gregory did not like racing at night.
- 19:40He couldn't see all that well.
- 19:42It got to the point where they had to go try and find Yoko.
- 19:45And Madison Gregory came in to do a driver change.
- 19:48They couldn't find Yoko, so he had to go back out.
- 19:50I think it was for like another three or four laps before they finally
- 19:52got Yoken, found him, brought him back to the track, and got him in.
- 19:56He's like, oh geez, okay.
- 19:58And so that point on, a lot of the leading cars were dropping out, the ones that
- 20:02were the favorites, and lo and behold.
- 20:05These guys were leading, like I said, you know, it's one of those things where,
- 20:08yeah, skill, everything like that, but a lot of luck plays into that, especially
- 20:12back then when a lot of mechanical failures were happening, because those
- 20:16cars weren't designed like they are today to be like just brick shithouses.
- 20:20Back then, yeah, they were fragile pieces of machinery.
- 20:23For them to last 24 hours and then to go balls out like they were doing, normally
- 20:27it was, those races back then, it was, okay, set a pace, we need to get to the
- 20:31last few hours, once we get to the last few hours, depending on where we're at,
- 20:35Then we'll just start hammering out.
- 20:37But these day and age, it's a sprint from get go.
- 20:41From the drop of the green flag to the checkered flag waves.
- 20:43You know, they're just going balls out because those things are bulletproof.
- 20:47Back then it wasn't.
- 20:48But absolutely stunning car.
- 20:50I've seen this car several times in person.
- 20:52You don't realize how small that car is.
- 20:55It is tiny.
- 20:56You know, and the V12 in it.
- 20:58I'm sorry, the 12 cylinder in it.
- 21:00It is, um, the pistons are tiny, it was at a 1.
- 21:035, I think it is, if memory serves me correctly.
- 21:07So I mean, it's not a big motor, it sounds glorious, that's for sure.
- 21:12I mean, it's just an absolutely stunning car.
- 21:14Now here's the thing, this was one of the ones that was being auctioned off
- 21:19by our own RM Sotheby's on behalf of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
- 21:24Because they're, they shut down because they're doing massive expansion and
- 21:28everything like that on the museum.
- 21:29Now, here's the thing that people, you know, they're thinking, Oh God,
- 21:32they're going to get all this money and they're going to do this massive
- 21:35renovation and stuff like that.
- 21:37All the money and proceeds generated from the sale of all the cars that
- 21:41they put up for auction cannot go towards the expansion and renovations.
- 21:46All that money can go towards future purchases of vehicles
- 21:49and set up an endowment.
- 21:51To operate and run the museum.
- 21:53It cannot go towards any construction on that.
- 21:55So that's a whole separate fundraising effort by the
- 21:58Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
- 21:59And you know, oddly enough, I don't know if people know this,
- 22:01but Penske bought IMS and all that.
- 22:03The museum wasn't part of that.
- 22:04So the museum is actually a whole separate entity.
- 22:07But anyway, all this money can only go towards buying new cars
- 22:10and new inventory and stuff to put out there, which is interesting.
- 22:12So that sold, all in, fees and everything, for 34 million eight
- 22:18hundred eighty thousand euros.
- 22:20They had it at, how was it, 25, 000 or more.
- 22:23So they really didn't even go with the high part.
- 22:25So, being a Le Mans winning car adds a ton of value to this car.
- 22:30Especially being the last Enzo era Ferrari to win Le Mans, really
- 22:35kind of put an emphasis on it.
- 22:37You know, I was talking with someone about this a couple days ago, and my
- 22:42guess, to compare it to a standard, I say standard, but you know, one
- 22:46with not much race history or, you know, especially this pedigree.
- 22:49My guess, this added 30%, 35 percent to the value of the car.
- 22:55I know of a couple 250LMs that are out there that are available.
- 22:58Uh, some really good ones too for, you're in the mid 20 millions range.
- 23:03So, you know what, so you're up above that by another, you know, 10 million.
- 23:07I, I thought it was well sold.
- 23:09I mean, great price.
- 23:10But where it should have been, I hope the owner takes it out and shows it
- 23:14and runs it and drives it doesn't just get, you know, put away and no
- 23:18one gets to see it again because the museum took this car to a lot of places.
- 23:22I always saw it up to the M one concourse.
- 23:24They always brought it out.
- 23:25But I, you know, I saw it Amelia stuff like that.
- 23:27So I mean, they really got this car out and showcase showcase it to everyone.
- 23:32Everyone got to see it.
- 23:34Not say touch it and feel it, but you'll get to hear it run when
- 23:36they're moving or anything like that.
- 23:37So that was really cool.
- 23:38So I'm hoping that happens with the new owner.
- 23:41So anyways, that was probably the only one that wasn't shocked.
- 23:45Well, besides that Dino, fantastic, fantastic buy for this person,
- 23:50such an unbelievable car.
- 23:52The museums own this thing since 71, 72, something like that.
- 23:56So they've owned it forever.
- 23:58And for this thing to finally come up and go into private hands is unbelievable.
- 24:03I, if I was a museum, I don't know if I would have sold it.
- 24:05I mean, that's just, it's such a, such a special car.
- 24:08Cause again, it could be on display so everyone can see it.
- 24:11You can do stuff, so it all depends on what the new owner is going to do.
- 24:16We shall see!
- 24:17So who knows, but all in all, like I said, a lot, a lot of surprises.
- 24:21Cause of these no sales, and being a no sale like way under the low estimate.
- 24:26I think we're seeing a bit of a shift in the market here,
- 24:29what's going on in regards to car prices, uh, collector car prices.
- 24:35People not thinking, you know, thinking they're going to still
- 24:37get the same kind of money they were getting a couple years ago.
- 24:40Has stuff dropped off?
- 24:41Is there a big switch?
- 24:43I don't know.
- 24:43I mean, you always have adjustments here and there.
- 24:45And then what happens is all of a sudden stuff becomes a bargain.
- 24:48People start jumping on stuff and buying it and prices go back up.
- 24:51So you're always going to have up and downs in the collective car market.
- 24:54And again, my adage is, look, if you're in, if you're buying this car
- 24:57solely to try and make money on it.
- 24:59You're not buying it for the right reasons.
- 25:00Now, if you have plenty of money where it doesn't matter, but Hey, I'm going to
- 25:03take a swing at this buy and hopefully see where it gets to in five, 10 years.
- 25:07Okay.
- 25:07Have at it, but that's just me, but I'm more about passion of the car.
- 25:11Not so much.
- 25:12Hey, collectability wise in regards to, you know, numbers and, Oh, I'm
- 25:16going to double my money in 10 years.
- 25:17If that happens.
- 25:18That's just a bonus.
- 25:20All in all some interesting stuff.
- 25:22So we have some new other auctions come up here soon.
- 25:24That's got some big stuff in it.
- 25:26You know, obviously Amelia's coming up.
- 25:28Moda is going to be coming up.
- 25:29So they have some great things coming across the block.
- 25:32We'll see where things go.
- 25:33One auction really doesn't kind of dictate the market, but there's a
- 25:36lot of similar cars going across the block at those next two big events.
- 25:40So it's going to be interesting to see where things settle and see if
- 25:43we got some adjustments going on.
- 25:45Appreciate you guys listening.
- 25:46Stay tuned.
- 25:47Great stuff coming next week.
