Transcript
- 0:00Hello, my name is Leslie Cain.
- 0:02I am the host of the Why Not Today podcast.
- 0:05This is a podcast to celebrate people who have been
- 0:08courageous and said, why not today?
- 0:10I started this podcast in honor of my father, Patrick Cain,
- 0:13who often did say, why not today?
- 0:15I am based in Reston, Virginia,
- 0:17playing community right outside of Washington,
- 0:19DC, and thanks for joining us.
- 0:21So my guest today is,
- 0:23and I love that you have seen a Gram as your name,
- 0:26but Andrea Plunkett.
- 0:27Is that right? Did I pronounce that right?
- 0:29Yes.
- 0:30And I always love to say where we met.
- 0:32And Andrea and I met at a networking luncheon.
- 0:37And it was in Lynchburg and it was very inconvenient for me
- 0:41to go, but I went.
- 0:42And it was one of those things,
- 0:44I don't know about you and your life is those things
- 0:46that just aren't easy,
- 0:47have the best biggest blessings in it sometime.
- 0:50And so I met her, we had a long conversation
- 0:52when I was driving one day,
- 0:54just fell in love with all of everything you do
- 0:56and following you on Facebook.
- 0:58And we met for lunch one day in between.
- 1:02And I wish we lived closer,
- 1:04because we actually would probably be dangerous
- 1:06if we live closer.
- 1:07Because we'd be in lots of trouble together.
- 1:09So, but Andrea is here as our guest
- 1:11and she's got lots of good courage stories.
- 1:15But one of the things that attracted,
- 1:17or wanted you to talk about today,
- 1:19and we're gonna bring up,
- 1:20is this month of,
- 1:22or why not today month is,
- 1:24why not today be intentional?
- 1:26And we've been talking about the one word and bucket list.
- 1:30And I know you are big into vision boards
- 1:32and doing some vision board trainings,
- 1:34which again, I wish I was closer,
- 1:36because I would have come.
- 1:38But we're gonna talk about courage
- 1:39and then talk about that.
- 1:40So why don't you introduce yourself,
- 1:42quick facts, just who you be,
- 1:44and then a fun fact about you.
- 1:46And then we will talk about courage.
- 1:49Okay, I am a mother of three.
- 1:54So I have a 23 year old, 19 and 12 year old.
- 1:57And that is chaos in itself.
- 2:01Yeah.
- 2:03When you've got adults, adult children.
- 2:05So that's a whole new world.
- 2:07I am a wife.
- 2:09This is my second time around in marriage.
- 2:11And it is beautiful and amazing and grateful.
- 2:15And I just stepped out,
- 2:17right before the first of the year,
- 2:20in a new position as a visioneer coach.
- 2:23So I'm helping people, thank you.
- 2:25I'm helping people find their vision,
- 2:28helping them to dream again, helping them,
- 2:30and then what that looks like
- 2:32and how I can help them to be seen and heard
- 2:35in a very noisy, busy world.
- 2:39You know, it's interesting.
- 2:40God just the people He puts in my path and the connections.
- 2:44And somebody interviewed yesterday
- 2:46that's gonna be on the podcast in February,
- 2:49she just wrote a book, says, I see you.
- 2:52Oh, that's awesome.
- 2:53And just that I am seen,
- 2:56it keeps coming up over and over and over again.
- 2:58So yeah, I love that.
- 2:59So we're gonna have to talk a little bit more about
- 3:01offline about what you're doing with the coaching.
- 3:04Because I love to do that.
- 3:04Yes, yes.
- 3:06And you do a million other things, including sing and...
- 3:09Yes, yes.
- 3:10Kind of like being a million hats.
- 3:12Yeah.
- 3:13And you're very sparkly.
- 3:13I do singing telegrams and yeah,
- 3:14singing telegrams love to perform and sing.
- 3:17And yeah, that's definitely my heart passion.
- 3:20Yeah, if you're not watching on YouTube,
- 3:23but just listening,
- 3:24she's got fun sparkly glasses
- 3:26and you're always sparking something going on.
- 3:28Yes, bling is fun.
- 3:30Yes.
- 3:31So I met somebody yesterday,
- 3:32her, she introduced herself.
- 3:34She works for a financial company.
- 3:36And in HR department,
- 3:38but she introduced herself as she's the magic
- 3:40and sparkle girl in the company.
- 3:42Wow.
- 3:43I love that job.
- 3:44Yes.
- 3:45I can't wait to connect.
- 3:46Yes, yes.
- 3:48So what does courage mean to you?
- 3:52Courage means to me, dreaming.
- 3:55Dreaming again, like stepping out
- 3:57and really being intentional about your dreams
- 4:04and things that you want to do.
- 4:06I believe that's courageous.
- 4:08Love that.
- 4:11Yes, we definitely need to dream.
- 4:13Yes.
- 4:14All right.
- 4:15So you've got a lot of courage in your life
- 4:16and a lot of change.
- 4:17And we want to tie that into a vision board.
- 4:19So kind of give us a little bit of your courage journey
- 4:22and how that tied into vision boards.
- 4:26And then let's talk about how we can encourage
- 4:28other people to do a vision board.
- 4:30Yes.
- 4:31So I missed my fun fact, which has to do with courage.
- 4:36Oh, I'm sorry.
- 4:37Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 4:38It's all right.
- 4:38And I just, I was like, I can tie this in.
- 4:40So I was 26 before I got my driver's license.
- 4:46Oh, wow.
- 4:47Yeah, I was terrified of driving.
- 4:50I was, had just no desire at all to do driving
- 4:57when all the teenagers were.
- 4:59And so my daughter was six months old.
- 5:02My oldest was six months old before I actually got
- 5:05behind a wheel and got my driver's license.
- 5:07And it was fear.
- 5:09I was so afraid.
- 5:11And all the things that I thought could happen
- 5:13or might happen if I didn't pass the test,
- 5:17what would that look like?
- 5:18And just all these things.
- 5:20And so that was a really big step for me was to be courageous
- 5:25and to do it.
- 5:26And if I didn't pass, I'd go take it again.
- 5:29I could do that.
- 5:30So that was really exciting.
- 5:34And it gave me courage.
- 5:37It gave me the first step out of a very abusive marriage
- 5:42and a place that I was in for 20 years.
- 5:46And getting that freedom to be able to drive
- 5:49and have my own vehicle changed my life.
- 5:52And it started that journey of just being able to realize
- 5:55I can do things on my own and what that looked like.
- 5:58So, yes.
- 6:00Wow.
- 6:01I couldn't imagine.
- 6:02The minute I turned 16, my mother took me
- 6:04to get my driver's license because I was the oldest
- 6:06of at that point, four and a half kids.
- 6:09The fifth was on the way.
- 6:10Wow.
- 6:11Go.
- 6:12But yeah, the freedom it gives you to be able to drive
- 6:15and do those things.
- 6:17Yeah, it did.
- 6:18It gave me, it made me realize I can do these hard things.
- 6:22And so as I went on and started to really just find
- 6:27that courage and I was 20 years in a domestic abusive
- 6:31marriage and I wasn't dreaming.
- 6:34I wasn't, I had really given up on just really thinking
- 6:37about myself anymore and three kids and decided,
- 6:42finally decided that I had to figure out who I was
- 6:47and find my value and my worth.
- 6:49And that I was worth dreaming for.
- 6:53I was worth fighting for.
- 6:56And so that began my step out
- 6:59and I actually started a vision board.
- 7:02That was one of the first things I did when I left
- 7:06and moved started on my new life.
- 7:10I got a vision board and I started putting things on there
- 7:12that I wanted to dream about.
- 7:13And there's a verse in Proverbs and it says,
- 7:16hope deferred makes the heart sick.
- 7:20But a dream, I can't remember the rest of it,
- 7:24but it says, how being a dream fulfilled is,
- 7:29beyond measure or something like that.
- 7:31But the hope deferred was where I was.
- 7:33I was, my heart was sick.
- 7:36I was really struggling with that.
- 7:40And so to find hope again
- 7:42and to be able to look forward
- 7:43and to be able to dream about things.
- 7:45And so one of my dreams, which hasn't come true yet,
- 7:48one of my things on my vision board is going to Australia.
- 7:51Oh wow.
- 7:52Yes, and that's a big one.
- 7:54But I wanted to take steps every year towards that.
- 7:59And so here I am starting over.
- 8:02I don't even have towels to my name anymore,
- 8:06sheets, anything, I'm starting completely over.
- 8:09And I had to do something.
- 8:12So I went to the post office
- 8:14and got a passport application.
- 8:17It was free, I could do that.
- 8:19That didn't cost me any money,
- 8:21but it gave me another step towards that,
- 8:24dream of doing Australia.
- 8:26And so since then I've gotten travel books
- 8:29and I even put a map of Australia on my wall for a while.
- 8:33So just these different things,
- 8:35I've tried different Australian foods,
- 8:41ordered them off of Amazon,
- 8:42you can get anything off Amazon.
- 8:45Things like that that just give me,
- 8:48again, just keeping that direction towards it.
- 8:51So that's what I love about vision boards
- 8:54and about teaching these workshops is that
- 8:56you're really able to help people to think way outside
- 9:01of their comfort zone.
- 9:03Things that they may have forgotten about,
- 9:06dreams that they had forgotten about,
- 9:08and just having those things to be able to put them
- 9:12on a board and look at them when things are hard,
- 9:15when you've had really bad days
- 9:18and you're able to just look at that board and say,
- 9:22okay, that's where I'm going,
- 9:24this is gonna be okay, that's what I wanna do.
- 9:27That's where, and what that looks like
- 9:30and helping people walk that out is really important.
- 9:35Well, I wanna talk about the steps to that,
- 9:37but a couple of things that you mentioned that,
- 9:39writing it down, whether, and if you're visual,
- 9:42being able to see it, but I had somebody on the podcast
- 9:45a couple of weeks ago that she did her dad's bucket list.
- 9:48Wow.
- 9:49It was fun, and I have a journal as a bucket list,
- 9:51which I need to pull out
- 9:52because I haven't looked at it in a while,
- 9:53but I know years ago, my biggest wanted to do was go to Hawaii.
- 9:58Wow.
- 9:59I put, and I wrote it down one year.
- 10:01I'm like, I'm gonna do this.
- 10:02Well, my job I had, I got to go to Alaska and Hawaii
- 10:06the same summer.
- 10:07Wow.
- 10:09And actually, I can,
- 10:10and I was talking to a friend the other day
- 10:12about intentions and manifesting
- 10:13and not just what you want, that you wanna go,
- 10:16but you wanna go like all out,
- 10:18or I've been able to go to Hawaii three times basically.
- 10:22Oh my goodness.
- 10:25Like, I had to get there and spending money,
- 10:28but everything else was covered.
- 10:31And so that manifestation of it.
- 10:34And I think where we are right now in 2024,
- 10:39I think the last few years,
- 10:40and I know for me, we've been in survival mode.
- 10:43Yes.
- 10:44Just get me through the day, get me through the week.
- 10:46I was with somebody yesterday,
- 10:49and she was reliving that she ran events.
- 10:51And every Monday, she was on listening to the governor here,
- 10:55what the restrictions were, what you couldn't do.
- 10:57And so we've been on survival mode and we stopped dreaming.
- 11:01And to be able to dream again.
- 11:03And I know I've done vision boards and I have one,
- 11:05but it's just, I'm a words girl,
- 11:07what it's meant to me.
- 11:08So it's just really words, but it's not specific.
- 11:12So I just made a note that I need to get serious
- 11:14about a vision board and put the things I really want
- 11:18because they do manifest when you do it.
- 11:20Yes, yes.
- 11:21And words are important.
- 11:22They are so important.
- 11:23My whole house is full of words,
- 11:25because words were so detrimental to me for 20 years
- 11:31that I was determined to make sure words were positive
- 11:34and that they were things that I could look forward to
- 11:38and be able to hold on to.
- 11:41So we definitely put words on our vision boards,
- 11:44but sometimes it's good to get specific.
- 11:46It's good to be able to look at your personal,
- 11:49your finance, your work, your family,
- 11:52your health and wellness and be able to put those things.
- 11:56Some of our people, we just did a workshop
- 11:58and some of them actually split their boards up.
- 12:00So they had each different category.
- 12:02And then others, you know, yeah, and others did a collage,
- 12:07and sometimes you may look at someone's board
- 12:10and it may not make sense to you
- 12:13because it's one of the ladies isn't married
- 12:16and she wants, she's put on her vision board
- 12:18that she wants a husband, but instead of putting,
- 12:21I want a husband, she put a picture of a couple
- 12:24looking at a sunset.
- 12:26And that to her was, you know, what she wants her,
- 12:29you know, her future to look like.
- 12:31And so sometimes it can be very specific for yourself,
- 12:35but not necessarily everybody has to know, you know,
- 12:38the intimate details of exactly, you know,
- 12:41what you're wanting.
- 12:42And it's definitely for us.
- 12:43And I always caution people, be careful what you put.
- 12:47I had somebody one time, she put, she wanted a husband.
- 12:50So she put a picture of, then, I mean, this was years ago,
- 12:53the marble man.
- 12:54Yes.
- 12:55Well, she didn't want a man that smoked,
- 12:57but that's what she got.
- 12:59Right?
- 12:59So be careful.
- 13:03Right, be careful what you wish for.
- 13:05So you are doing workshops in Lynchburg, Virginia.
- 13:07So if anybody's still not too late,
- 13:09I think you have a couple next week.
- 13:11Yes.
- 13:12People can attend.
- 13:13I think you should do a virtual one too.
- 13:15Yes, yes.
- 13:16So if I want to do one at home,
- 13:18what do I need to get together?
- 13:19What are the steps I need to do?
- 13:21How do I start dreaming?
- 13:22Or how do I start creating my vision board?
- 13:26So if you wanted, I definitely want to do one virtually.
- 13:31I think that's exciting, would be great to do.
- 13:34I think if you want to start one, it's just getting,
- 13:37I suggest foam board instead of cardboard,
- 13:40because cardboard's flimsy.
- 13:41Sometimes it can, you know, won't hold up
- 13:44to what you're putting on it.
- 13:45So get a piece of foam board.
- 13:47It doesn't have to be the gigantic 16 by 20s that we use.
- 13:51I even had people in the class cut theirs in half
- 13:54or cut theirs into a space that worked.
- 13:57But I wanted to give everybody enough space
- 14:00if they wanted to fill it.
- 14:01So but get a piece of foam board.
- 14:03You can get that at the Dollar Tree.
- 14:05It's super easy.
- 14:05Most of the stuff you could get, you know, super cheap,
- 14:08scissors, some glue.
- 14:10I like the glue that's purple that then goes to clear,
- 14:14because that way I know where I put my glue.
- 14:17And some magazines.
- 14:18Get some magazines, some books, some things
- 14:21that I'm really interested in.
- 14:23And start cutting them out and start putting them on that board.
- 14:28I know it sounds like, oh, we're doing elementary school,
- 14:31you know, projects, but we all need some creativity.
- 14:34Oh, absolutely.
- 14:36Yeah.
- 14:36And we all loved art class.
- 14:38We have to say we all loved art class.
- 14:41And so it's fun to get into that and to be able to do it.
- 14:44Rip it out of a page, out of a book if you want to.
- 14:48If you see something online that you like, a quote or a picture,
- 14:53print that out on your printer.
- 14:54And go ahead and put that on there as well.
- 14:58And it doesn't have to be something
- 14:59that has to be completed in one day.
- 15:01It can be something you work on even throughout the year,
- 15:04you know, as you go on and realize, this is what I want.
- 15:08But what it does is it starts this intention of dreaming.
- 15:11It starts this intention of looking forward and thinking,
- 15:16what do I want to do?
- 15:18And it's not selfish.
- 15:19I mean, I think sometimes we get to that place where we think,
- 15:23oh, this is selfish to think about myself and what I want.
- 15:27And especially people who are people-pleasers,
- 15:29we want to make everybody else happy.
- 15:31But sometimes we have to stop and go, wait, do I like chocolate brownies
- 15:38because I like them or because everybody in my family does,
- 15:43so that's what I make.
- 15:44Well, isn't it?
- 15:45What is that movie with Julia Roberts that, oh,
- 15:49she was engaged so many times?
- 15:51Oh, yes, the marriage, weddings, I think, or marriage.
- 15:54What's it called?
- 15:55Yeah.
- 15:55But finally, Richard Grass, like, how do you like your eggs?
- 16:00Right.
- 16:01Every man she was with, she liked the eggs that they liked,
- 16:04because she wasn't her own person.
- 16:06Yes, yes.
- 16:07Yeah, it's crazy how we can lose ourselves in life.
- 16:13And like you said, because since COVID, we've all been surviving
- 16:18and we've all been trying to figure how to just keep our head above water
- 16:22and how to keep our jobs or how to make it every time we go to the grocery
- 16:27store and things are three times as much as they were.
- 16:32And so to stop and say, even if it's something as simple as,
- 16:37I've never had caviar, and I want to try caviar,
- 16:41to stop and put that on your vision board to others,
- 16:44and maybe that's kind of crazy.
- 16:45But to you, that matters.
- 16:47That's important.
- 16:48And those kind of things are life changing because they say, OK,
- 16:54I matter, and I can do this.
- 16:58And because I can do this, I can do something else.
- 17:00It's just a step to the next step.
- 17:03And I love your Australia example and the steps.
- 17:07Like it's the little steps.
- 17:09And sometimes we just you can't do all of it.
- 17:12But what can you do to love on you?
- 17:15And maybe it's drinking out of, we have those fancy things in our house
- 17:20that we don't use only for guests.
- 17:22And I had some glasses that I won from Mary Kay.
- 17:25They were etched really pretty in there, way up high.
- 17:28And I just kept them away for somebody came out.
- 17:31I'm finally like, well, that's silly.
- 17:33Like, yes.
- 17:34And I had a collection of crappy plastic, messy, dirty, cracked.
- 17:40And I'm like, get rid of those and put the good ones out.
- 17:43Because we deserve those things.
- 17:45Yes.
- 17:46Yes.
- 17:47Yeah, there's a song that I sing and it's talking about how you live.
- 17:50And it says, wear the red dress.
- 17:53Use the good dishes.
- 17:55Make a big mess and make lots of wishes.
- 17:57And, you know, yes.
- 17:59And that's that's part of we want to live because, you know, when you get to the
- 18:05end of your life, people, the thing that people say the most is, I wish I had done this.
- 18:11I held back too long.
- 18:14I should have gone and done that.
- 18:15I should have done this.
- 18:17We're not saying, oh, we should have spent more time, you know, in front of the
- 18:20computer and making money or working.
- 18:23It's mostly, you know, those things that we wanted to do.
- 18:28I know as a mom and with with kids sometimes trying to get that family photo is
- 18:34chaotic, you know, and you think I want this perfect family photo.
- 18:37Just take the photo, you know, just take the photo.
- 18:41Just enjoy the time.
- 18:43Your kids need that.
- 18:45And they need to see that you dream to, I think sometimes as a parent, I think
- 18:50sometimes even my parents, you know, they some I want them to dream.
- 18:57I want them to have goals because for me, that inspires me to say, even in my 60s,
- 19:04I can still, you know, dream I can still do and to see them do to do that makes
- 19:09inspires me to keep going on.
- 19:11Absolutely.
- 19:12And, you know, one of the things you talked about regrets, which I often quote
- 19:15Daniel Pink, who's written several books and is one day he will be on this podcast.
- 19:20He lives local to me, but I haven't, I haven't connected with him.
- 19:24But one day I'm going to keep saying I need to put a picture of him on my vision.
- 19:27That's right.
- 19:28That's right.
- 19:29There you go.
- 19:30But in his book, it talks about regrets.
- 19:32And I read the book like right when I started this podcast.
- 19:36So I quote it often, but he talks about people rarely regret the things that they
- 19:41did.
- 19:42We were getting the things we didn't do.
- 19:44Yeah.
- 19:45And one of the biggest regrets of people in the United States is not
- 19:49traveling abroad in school, but, you know, living our life.
- 19:54And that's a whole theme of this podcast.
- 19:58Why not today just do the things that it doesn't have to be big.
- 20:01And sometimes it's just, you know, dreaming again, taking the time to drink
- 20:06out of that fancy glass.
- 20:07Yes.
- 20:08Joy and be present with the people and talking about pictures and not the
- 20:11perfect pictures.
- 20:13You know, I'm so grateful for pictures I have of people that have not in my life
- 20:18anymore that have passed away.
- 20:20And we have a picture with my dad before he passed away.
- 20:23And my nieces and nephews, this was after Christmas before he passed away.
- 20:28My nieces and nephews were in town and we live in DC area and big Redskins fans
- 20:33and Redskins were in a game or something, playoffs, which surprise,
- 20:37surprise, that was a while ago.
- 20:39That's a whole other topic.
- 20:40But I remember trying to get everybody together and I was like, OK, after the
- 20:45game's over, we'll go over to mom and dad's, we'll get a picture, let's get a group
- 20:48picture.
- 20:49And it was not pretty and nobody was dressed fancy.
- 20:52We had great gear on.
- 20:54And but we have that picture.
- 20:56And that was the last time my nieces and nephews saw him in the last time we were
- 21:00together.
- 21:02And I look at that often like, OK, it's not perfect.
- 21:04And that's kind of the premise of this podcast.
- 21:06As I said when we started, I don't edit them because it's not perfect.
- 21:10And it's like, why not today?
- 21:13You just got to do the things and not expect everything to be exactly right.
- 21:17And you don't need to know all the steps, you know, but put that dream and that
- 21:21vision in front of you.
- 21:22And, you know, you just never know where it's going to.
- 21:27You have have it one way and it may manifest another way.
- 21:30A friend of mine last year, I actually, she talked about vision boards and was
- 21:35going through a rough time in her life.
- 21:38Her husband, who unfortunately did pass away, was fighting cancer.
- 21:41And she decided that she had to start living her life again.
- 21:46She couldn't be crying with him.
- 21:48And so she started running and she put a vision board together.
- 21:52And one of the things was like a picture of a beautiful patio.
- 21:56Well, it wasn't.
- 21:58It was just something she liked.
- 21:59Well, lo and behold, she ended up getting that exact furniture, like online,
- 22:03somewhere or one of those free places.
- 22:05Like it acts the whole thing manifests the way that she had it.
- 22:09Well, it was on that vision board.
- 22:11Wow.
- 22:12Wow.
- 22:13That's incredible.
- 22:14It is funny to be able to look back at those things or lists, like you're
- 22:18saying, like your bucket list and things like that and be able to look back at
- 22:22those vision boards and bucket lists and and look and say, wow, I did that.
- 22:27I can't believe that happened or that that worked out.
- 22:31You know, it, it shows us how important it is to put it out there and be able
- 22:38to be able to to really see it and and and to believe it.
- 22:42Because, you know, that is that is what faith is.
- 22:45It is seeing without, you know, believing without seeing.
- 22:49Yeah, believing without seeing.
- 22:51And so, you know, that is it's it's it's some faith and and but it's good.
- 22:58And it's good for you.
- 22:59Yes.
- 22:59And it's good for others.
- 23:01Yeah.
- 23:02And just for them to see it and they feel our energy.
- 23:05Yes.
- 23:05That was what I'm going to say about that.
- 23:09Now, I totally lost that thought.
- 23:10Well, I was going to say, you know, having two adult children, you know,
- 23:1423 and 19, it's a different world than it was when I was, you know, in my 20s.
- 23:20And watching them, you know, because of COVID and everything else, you know,
- 23:24go through all these different kind of struggles, but helping them to just
- 23:29dream and say, you know, if you could do anything, what would you do, you know,
- 23:33or, you know, going, well, I haven't done this or, you know, my other friends
- 23:37have done this and it's like, that's okay.
- 23:39This is your 20s.
- 23:40It's fun.
- 23:41You know, let's what would you like to do?
- 23:43This is the time where you can do anything.
- 23:45You know, you have, you don't have any strings attached to you.
- 23:49So I think sometimes we forget that when we get in our 40s and 50s and start
- 23:55to look at things and go, oh, we can't, we were limiting ourselves.
- 23:59And there's really no limits.
- 24:01Like you said, those dishes, you know, let's pull them out.
- 24:04Let's use them.
- 24:05You know, let's, let's, let's just enjoy things.
- 24:08What, let's stop holding back and realize that we don't, we do not
- 24:14promise tomorrow or, or even next year.
- 24:18So let's live that and, and start walking that out and vision boards are
- 24:22a way to really get that connection and that direction, something to focus on.
- 24:27Yeah.
- 24:28I love that. And so I thought, I remember the thing I was going to
- 24:31mention, reticular activating system.
- 24:33Have you ever heard of that?
- 24:34No.
- 24:35Yes.
- 24:36So that's kind of like your bodyguard in your brain.
- 24:38We're looking for things.
- 24:39So you want to buy a new car, you want to buy a red Chevy, all of a sudden,
- 24:44everywhere you see a red Chevy.
- 24:46Yes.
- 24:47It totally happened to me before.
- 24:48Yeah.
- 24:49And so now a lot, you say things and it shows up in your phone and they tell
- 24:54you you want it, but.
- 24:55You know, I take attention to your word and one word, you see it
- 24:59everywhere, just like when we mentioned being seen.
- 25:03Yes.
- 25:04That I saw that phrase everywhere.
- 25:06I am seeing, I see you.
- 25:08And so once you kind of put them out there and you have that visual and you
- 25:11see it, even if you walk past a vision board and you don't really
- 25:15pay attention to it, it's there and your, your RAS is looking for those
- 25:19things and looking for ways to get it.
- 25:22And I can tell you many instances in my life that like, like the Hawaii
- 25:27trip, like no way.
- 25:30You're right.
- 25:31It happened, you know, and many times those things have happened.
- 25:34So just, um, yeah, dream.
- 25:37You got me motivated to want to dream again and to, I want to make my vision
- 25:42board and actually have a Bolton board I got one year that says dream on it.
- 25:47So I put everything.
- 25:48Oh, sweet.
- 25:49So I'm going to go to the next one.
- 25:51Oh, sweet.
- 25:53And then I also have taken and done a virtual version, a small one, and I do it
- 25:58on, um, do it, create it in Canva and print it out and have it in the front of
- 26:03notebooks and around my house.
- 26:06So I see it in front of me.
- 26:07Yes.
- 26:08You can do it in Canva.
- 26:09Pinterest is another great place to do something where you've kind of got a
- 26:14board.
- 26:15Um, uh, we were talking about that the other night at our workshop.
- 26:19Those are all great.
- 26:20Absolutely.
- 26:21And then you print them out so that you can see them in front of you or a friend
- 26:24of mine said, you know, she put hers as her screen for her, um, phone.
- 26:29And so it was there every time she looked at her phone and opened up her phone.
- 26:33So I, I said, that's smart too.
- 26:35Things like that, that just put it on your refrigerator.
- 26:37I actually went from my team.
- 26:39I wrote affirmations for them and print just with markers or crayons and put on
- 26:44piece of paper and mailed them to them and they put them inside their medicine cabinet.
- 26:49Oh, please.
- 26:51Pantry, you know, the places you're in front of.
- 26:54Yes.
- 26:55I had somebody I was talking to about doing this.
- 26:56She's like, I'm not going to trash my house.
- 26:58I'm like, okay, you don't have to, you know, and I've got some of my things like
- 27:02what's behind me.
- 27:03It's a nice board.
- 27:04Um, you can frame it.
- 27:06You, but then you can also hide it in places.
- 27:08So you see it.
- 27:09Yes.
- 27:10Yeah.
- 27:11Yeah.
- 27:12There's all kinds of places.
- 27:13Um, my first year when I was, you know, stepping out in a new and whole new direction,
- 27:19I even put words and things on my, in my car because I was in my car for so long.
- 27:24Um, I would put those things there.
- 27:25I had one little quote on my rear view mirror and it said, you know, don't look back, you
- 27:30know, or, you know, when it's don't look backwards, look forward.
- 27:34And you just little reminders like that every day, uh, just changing my focus and, and remembering,
- 27:41you know, what my goals are and what I want.
- 27:45Um, yeah, it's important.
- 27:47Uh, so many good nuggets.
- 27:49Inspiration.
- 27:50It inspires others for sure.
- 27:52So yes.
- 27:53So I always ask, you know, how would you encourage somebody else?
- 27:56I know we've talked a lot about this subject in general, but anything specific as a parting
- 28:01like, okay, this is how I'd encourage somebody.
- 28:05Um, I would encourage someone to just go back and think about when they were a kid, you
- 28:13know, what did you want to do?
- 28:15What did you see?
- 28:16What did you remember that you think, oh, I want, want that or, oh, I always wanted to
- 28:20do this and, and write that down, you know, put it on your vision board.
- 28:25Dream, dream again.
- 28:27It's, it's important.
- 28:29You're important.
- 28:30You matter and you are worth the time to sit down and dream again.
- 28:35Absolutely.
- 28:36I would encourage someone like that.
- 28:38So, so true.
- 28:39Well, this has been fun and I've been trying to get you on the podcast forever and I'm
- 28:42glad I'm on a subject that works.
- 28:44It was perfect with the intention.
- 28:46So I'm going to share all your contact information with people.
- 28:49What's the best way for somebody to find you?
- 28:52I would say Facebook's the best way to find me.
- 28:55Um, okay.
- 28:56Andrea CK Plunkett.
- 28:58I'm on there and, um, I love conversation.
- 29:02Anyway, anybody wants to reach out.
- 29:03I've, I'm all for it.
- 29:05Okay.
- 29:06And she's, you're tons of fun and I'm grateful that you're in my life and I've got to figure
- 29:11out a way to connect.
- 29:12So not only are you far away, but then we figured out, but we did make it work last time because
- 29:17when I did, now I have a dog and so we went to a cafe, except dogs, which I am going that
- 29:23way in February.
- 29:24So, so it's time to get together or, you know what, you're three hours away.
- 29:28I just could get in the car or we can meet.
- 29:30Yes.
- 29:31Yes.
- 29:32Yes.
- 29:33Or I can make a trip too.
- 29:34That's not a problem.
- 29:35So trips are always fun.
- 29:36That's right.
