- 0:05Speaker 1: Radio radio radio commies, a myth and bullshit. A radio
- 0:19Speaker 1: phonic novella. Look Radio hosted by Malamo. Welcome back to
- 0:27Speaker 1: look At Radio. Hello Locas, look exis hi Lo keep
- 0:32Speaker 1: us keep those welcome back. It's a wild I really missed. Yes, yes,
- 0:40Speaker 1: like now that we are, you know, a few months
- 0:43Speaker 1: into this and we're a few gutpiple loves in. This
- 0:45Speaker 1: is just becoming more and more like a part of
- 0:48Speaker 1: the fabric of our lives. Yes, I agree. I felt
- 0:51Speaker 1: totally out of sinc when we you know, took a
- 0:55Speaker 1: mini break from recording. But I'm happy that we're back.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So us to remind folks for if you're listening for
- 1:02Speaker 1: the first time, you're just tuning in. UM, we are
- 1:06Speaker 1: look at Our Radio where we celebrate the legacies, brilliance
- 1:09Speaker 1: and experiences of women and fems of color. Absolutely, we
- 1:13Speaker 1: celebrate brown girl, our every all the time. We keep
- 1:17Speaker 1: brown girl our brown Girl time. And I'm Mala and
- 1:22Speaker 1: we are your look at And today's this, This newest
- 1:27Speaker 1: installment of look at Our Radio is all about your space. Yeah,
- 1:33Speaker 1: your space, your area, your sanctuary, UM, your home, your haven,
- 1:39Speaker 1: wherever you go to lay your head at night. UM.
- 1:43Speaker 1: To seek peace and solitude. That's what we're talking about,
- 1:47Speaker 1: because I mean, we'll touch more on this, but your
- 1:50Speaker 1: physical space really affects your mental space right at your
- 1:52Speaker 1: emotional space. It really you know, filters in UM. So
- 1:57Speaker 1: we'll talk about that, but before let's give some updates.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We presented at a conference recently in April, April twenty twods.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Where were we at, Mala. We were at the Avelantemhead
- 2:08Speaker 1: conference at Pasadena City College. And first of all, we
- 2:13Speaker 1: want to really thank UM the organizers of Avelantemhead who
- 2:18Speaker 1: reached out to us and invited us to participate in
- 2:22Speaker 1: the conference and invited us to submit a workshop proposal.
- 2:25Speaker 1: So we let a couple workshops on from Tech. Yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 1: we did, and it was so amazing. It was so wonderful.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I think in my head I had envisioned high school girls,
- 2:36Speaker 1: which there were some high school students, but there were
- 2:39Speaker 1: a lot of young girls like sixth graders, seventh graders,
- 2:42Speaker 1: absolutely and their mom's and their mother great to see
- 2:45Speaker 1: like two generations together UM talking about fem tech and
- 2:50Speaker 1: then having them reimagine being able to see the science,
- 2:54Speaker 1: the fem science in their day to day lives. And
- 2:57Speaker 1: in their mother's work. And I am never gonna forget.
- 3:00Speaker 1: We were talking about right, like fem expression and things
- 3:04Speaker 1: like makeup and how there's a stem element to putting
- 3:07Speaker 1: on makeup right, and the ASA you talk about the
- 3:09Speaker 1: symmetry involved, which is a true actual mathematical concept. You
- 3:14Speaker 1: can take a university level symmetry math course, right, and
- 3:18Speaker 1: symmetry is something that goes into is your winged liner
- 3:23Speaker 1: matching up? Right? Um? And one young lady who must
- 3:27Speaker 1: have been in middle school, she gave the example of
- 3:29Speaker 1: how well her mother cuts hair and how there's so
- 3:32Speaker 1: much symmetry involved when her mother is cutting somebody's hair
- 3:36Speaker 1: and making sure that the layers are all lined up
- 3:38Speaker 1: and the left side is even with the right side.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You know, if that's what you're going for, unless it's
- 3:42Speaker 1: an asymmetrical look. Right. So that was really cool. Yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I agree, so many, so many brilliant little fem techis. Yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 1: it was great. I loved it. Um. So that was fun. Yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: And shout out to Becky actually leaked out to us
- 3:59Speaker 1: to I and we were able to meet her that day.
- 4:02Speaker 1: She was so cute. Yeah, she was. She also said
- 4:05Speaker 1: that she questioned if her dress was professional, and then
- 4:08Speaker 1: she thought of us and was like, no, funk it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I'm aware. Lets let's challenge what professionalism is? I love
- 4:13Speaker 1: it and the dress looked great? Did she kill um?
- 4:17Speaker 1: And then we've also been working on something kind of secret.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We can't give too many details yet, but it is
- 4:23Speaker 1: a film oriented project, so we will keep you all
- 4:29Speaker 1: posted on that. It should be finalized, it shouldn't finalized
- 4:36Speaker 1: in the next few weeks. We're gonna drop more hints. Yes,
- 4:38Speaker 1: we're gonna drop more hands and give you guys more
- 4:41Speaker 1: updates as the time comes for the big reveal. But
- 4:43Speaker 1: we're really excited, excited. It's so hard to keep it
- 4:47Speaker 1: a secret, but it's so hard it's going to be
- 4:48Speaker 1: so good. It's going to be worth it when it
- 4:50Speaker 1: finally comes out. So keep your eyes peeled for that. Yes,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and then finally, l A folks, or if you're going
- 4:56Speaker 1: to be visiting because it's Memorial Weekend coming up. Yes,
- 5:00Speaker 1: So we are teaming with La Junta l A and
- 5:03Speaker 1: we are having we're hosting, co hosting a party Memorial
- 5:06Speaker 1: Day Weekend Sunday, May from four to ten at Donchante Bar,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Grill and Lounge. And it's actually a rooftop bar in
- 5:14Speaker 1: downtown l A. Yes, um, it's a five dollar cover.
- 5:19Speaker 1: The drinks are really good and we're so excited because
- 5:22Speaker 1: DJ Sizzle Spinning Sizzle Fantastics, Yes we love Yes, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: also other amazing talented moheads will be there like Jezebella,
- 5:35Speaker 1: Donna's performing, Anna Saldana is performing, and we will be
- 5:39Speaker 1: doing interviews with folks that are attending the party. So
- 5:43Speaker 1: come talk to us and talk to us. This is
- 5:45Speaker 1: um like the l A Ladies take over, So we're
- 5:49Speaker 1: really excited. I was able to check out La Junta's party. Um,
- 5:53Speaker 1: I think it was two weeks ago on a Sunday,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and it was so much fun. They had like a
- 5:57Speaker 1: life Gumbia band. The organis just are amazing. Priscilla is
- 6:02Speaker 1: one of the organizers and she's amazing. She will be
- 6:05Speaker 1: she's hosting the party. Um, she's really dope. If you
- 6:08Speaker 1: follow the Instagram, we I posted a picture with Priscilla.
- 6:12Speaker 1: We're really excited to be teaming with them, you know,
- 6:16Speaker 1: thriving and living in l A having fun so importance. Yeah,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and I feel like this summer we're really going to
- 6:23Speaker 1: try and have as much fun as possible because that's
- 6:26Speaker 1: what summer is for. That's what summer is about. So
- 6:29Speaker 1: I'm excited because this I think I'm pretty sure that
- 6:31Speaker 1: this is going to be my first rooftop party of
- 6:34Speaker 1: the summer. You know, And if you are an adult
- 6:38Speaker 1: in l A it's summertime, you already know that that's
- 6:41Speaker 1: like the thing to do, the thing to do. You
- 6:42Speaker 1: got to find at least one or two rooftop events
- 6:45Speaker 1: at some point during the summer. So if you're gonna do,
- 6:47Speaker 1: if you're looking for something, let it be this. Come
- 6:50Speaker 1: see us, come hang out. It'll be fun. Yes, it's
- 6:52Speaker 1: going to be really fun. I already know it's going
- 6:54Speaker 1: to be so good. Yes, So yeah, so let's get
- 6:58Speaker 1: into it. Let's it into the gardenet and to the
- 7:01Speaker 1: meat episode. So mine wanted to ask you actually because
- 7:07Speaker 1: one of the reasons we were we took a little
- 7:09Speaker 1: break is because you you know, really needed and deserved
- 7:13Speaker 1: a vacation and I was like much needed, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 1: So talk to us about your vocation. Where did you go? Yeah,
- 7:22Speaker 1: so I when when I take a vacation, like I'm
- 7:25Speaker 1: really at this stage in my life where I try
- 7:27Speaker 1: and leave the country when I can um and I
- 7:30Speaker 1: try to go to a different place. Like for me
- 7:33Speaker 1: because of the work that I do, like specific physical
- 7:36Speaker 1: locations in l A are tied to like my knowledge
- 7:40Speaker 1: of specific like traumas or violences that occurred in those locations,
- 7:44Speaker 1: right because like when you work in any type of
- 7:46Speaker 1: direct services and you live in the same place where
- 7:49Speaker 1: you work, you hear very human stories about horrible things
- 7:53Speaker 1: that have occurred right around the corner from you or
- 7:56Speaker 1: down the block or in this building and this location
- 7:58Speaker 1: on the street corner. So for me, like when I'm
- 8:01Speaker 1: need to take a break, I often need to leave
- 8:04Speaker 1: l A. Like I love l A, but I need
- 8:06Speaker 1: to leave like when I can, you know. So I
- 8:08Speaker 1: went to Mexico City. Um, I went with my with
- 8:11Speaker 1: a couple of friends. One of my friends lives down
- 8:13Speaker 1: there and it's like learning Spanish and my other friend
- 8:16Speaker 1: is my coworkers. So we went down and it was
- 8:19Speaker 1: so much fun. Like Mexico City is huge. The population
- 8:24Speaker 1: down there is like forty million people. It's extremely extremely international, um,
- 8:30Speaker 1: which means that there's like a lot of business people
- 8:33Speaker 1: right in Mexico City from like other parts of the
- 8:35Speaker 1: world who have gone and started businesses or they work
- 8:37Speaker 1: like for different corporations. We went to the pyramids, at
- 8:42Speaker 1: the Wakan, we went to we went to Socci Milco,
- 8:48Speaker 1: like we did everything, you know, like all the fun stuff,
- 8:50Speaker 1: like a lot of the touristy stuff, which is like
- 8:52Speaker 1: fine because that's the stuff that I wanted to see,
- 8:56Speaker 1: you know. But um, one of my favorite parts of
- 8:59Speaker 1: being down there is really seeing how beautiful and like
- 9:03Speaker 1: green and like picturesque everything in the city is kept.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Like there's so much green space. There are so many
- 9:11Speaker 1: like public parks, there's plants in all of the buildings
- 9:15Speaker 1: and restaurants. Everything is filled with plants. Like the streets
- 9:19Speaker 1: are all tree lined for the most part, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 1: they keep it very green and like people are cleaning
- 9:24Speaker 1: the sidewalk out in front of their businesses and out
- 9:26Speaker 1: in front of their homes like every morning, and like
- 9:29Speaker 1: the streets are kept like spotless, and it was just
- 9:32Speaker 1: like a beautiful place to be in. And I for me,
- 9:36Speaker 1: I've been to Mexico City once before and the first
- 9:39Speaker 1: time I went, and this time around, my favorite thing
- 9:41Speaker 1: having gone there has always been the pyramids and then
- 9:45Speaker 1: Frieda's house because it's just like the way that she
- 9:50Speaker 1: kept her home um, and I'm gonna give her all
- 9:52Speaker 1: the credit because I don't like giving Diego credit for anything. Um.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Frida Carlo and Diego Rivera were together for a long time,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and I feel like he really treated her horribly. You know.
- 10:03Speaker 1: He was like very much like a misogynist. He was
- 10:07Speaker 1: very much like very abusive, like emotionally in a lot
- 10:12Speaker 1: of other ways. And I'm really happy and I feel
- 10:15Speaker 1: so vindicated that like at this stage, like in history,
- 10:19Speaker 1: Frieda is much more well known than Diego, right, you know,
- 10:23Speaker 1: like back in the day he was a big deal,
- 10:25Speaker 1: a bigger deal than she was. But now like no
- 10:27Speaker 1: one gives a shit about him, you know what I mean.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Like even here at a Spasso, like look at this place,
- 10:32Speaker 1: like Frieda's everywhere, you know, is where we record Shout
- 10:36Speaker 1: us out, shout out nine. Yeah, I mean, in speaking
- 10:41Speaker 1: of Frieda and artists and women of color, there's a
- 10:43Speaker 1: really great exhibit by that's her. I g handsl yes, um, yere,
- 10:49Speaker 1: it's here at Espasio and it's beautiful. There's a feature
- 10:52Speaker 1: actually of our favor, going to beat the apple doing
- 10:56Speaker 1: her famous post her signature squat yes yeah, yes, So
- 11:00Speaker 1: come check that Outpos eight thirty nine. They are a bookstore,
- 11:06Speaker 1: they have an art space. UM here on First Street
- 11:10Speaker 1: and Boil Heights that there's a community radio station and
- 11:12Speaker 1: that's where we record. Look at our radio. So shouts
- 11:14Speaker 1: out to Nico and Myra, thank you for being patient
- 11:17Speaker 1: with us. Yes, we're being patient with us and like
- 11:19Speaker 1: letting us record, even if it's at the last minute.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But no, so like being basically being at Frieda's like
- 11:29Speaker 1: I was so awakened, like to the way that she
- 11:31Speaker 1: made her space and her home another canvas as far
- 11:35Speaker 1: as her art, like the way she decorated her kitchen
- 11:38Speaker 1: and the color combinations that she put together, the tile
- 11:43Speaker 1: that was used, it's beautiful, beautiful. When I went to
- 11:46Speaker 1: her house, this is right. I literally went the day
- 11:49Speaker 1: after graduation from undergrad. Oh my god, I literally cool
- 11:52Speaker 1: about the same day. And when I went, um they
- 11:57Speaker 1: had her her wardrobe on this blade it's still there,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and they had her lipstick, like her makeup, and you
- 12:04Speaker 1: couldn't take any photos. I was very upset about that,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but I get it, you know, respect it, but it
- 12:10Speaker 1: was and it was amazing. So yeah, there's something so
- 12:12Speaker 1: magical about being in her home. It's just this energy
- 12:15Speaker 1: that's like very like Maia. That's the only way I
- 12:18Speaker 1: can describe it. It's true and like her. So her
- 12:21Speaker 1: wardrobe is still there, it's like a temporary exhibition. And
- 12:25Speaker 1: what I didn't realize and what was kind of explained
- 12:28Speaker 1: in her wardrobe exhibition was that, you know, her her
- 12:33Speaker 1: life was very much a balance of being an artist,
- 12:37Speaker 1: being a woman, and handling multiple disabilities and living through
- 12:41Speaker 1: and surviving with uh continuously being sick and living through
- 12:48Speaker 1: like as a child, I think she had polio and
- 12:50Speaker 1: then she had a really horrible accident on the trolley
- 12:53Speaker 1: on the train and she was impaled like with this
- 12:57Speaker 1: big rod. I think at one point one of her
- 12:59Speaker 1: legs was partially amputated um And so it was really
- 13:03Speaker 1: interesting seeing like in her wardrobe exhibition, they put up
- 13:07Speaker 1: like her false leg that she used, all the corsets
- 13:11Speaker 1: and the braces that she had on like at all times,
- 13:14Speaker 1: her canes, her crutches, and explaining how her wardrobe was
- 13:19Speaker 1: very functional as far as making sure she could comfortably
- 13:23Speaker 1: wear her braces and and her corsets. And they showed
- 13:27Speaker 1: us images like from her diaries and her journals and
- 13:30Speaker 1: where she's detailing like the different areas of her body
- 13:33Speaker 1: where she's in pain and how all of those things
- 13:35Speaker 1: really figured a lot into her art. Um. So that
- 13:39Speaker 1: was just like I don't know, like being there, your
- 13:43Speaker 1: mind is just constantly working and your imagination is going.
- 13:46Speaker 1: And she inspired me. She did I saw that, I
- 13:49Speaker 1: saw those those yes, like so like yeah, because so
- 13:55Speaker 1: this episode basically just kind of drawing from Didosa and
- 13:58Speaker 1: I guess have recently both had experiences having to do
- 14:01Speaker 1: with like making your space your own. Um, and so
- 14:04Speaker 1: going to freedom I think was my inspiration. Um. And
- 14:09Speaker 1: then they also what was your inspiration? Yeah, definitely, you know, Um,
- 14:14Speaker 1: I think I think you were still here. I'm not
- 14:16Speaker 1: sure if you hadn't gone a vacation yet. Um. But
- 14:19Speaker 1: I actually went in. I got my tarot cards bread um,
- 14:22Speaker 1: shout out to La La who connected me with her healer.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, actually yeah, so I went to her healer.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Actually went for Olympia because a lot of ship was
- 14:32Speaker 1: happening in my life. Um. So I got my tarret
- 14:35Speaker 1: cards read kind of as like the pre you know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: to see where I'm at. And it was a really,
- 14:40Speaker 1: um a really powerful experience. I think you know that
- 14:44Speaker 1: everything the healer was revealing to me was stuff I
- 14:47Speaker 1: was already feeling, um and the path that I'm on
- 14:50Speaker 1: and kind of where I'm going and where I've been. Um.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So it was it was really it was really telling
- 14:57Speaker 1: to what I was feeling at the moment. And I
- 14:59Speaker 1: think like one of one of the most impactful things
- 15:02Speaker 1: that she told me was UM, because of something that
- 15:05Speaker 1: I went through recently, she was saying that I need
- 15:08Speaker 1: to make mice. She's like, make sure that you have sanctuary,
- 15:11Speaker 1: Like make sure that you're not just laying in bed
- 15:13Speaker 1: and you can't get out, Like no, Like have your sanctuary,
- 15:17Speaker 1: like have your zen, have your peaceful time, but also celebrate,
- 15:20Speaker 1: go out with your home girls, go out with your family, like,
- 15:22Speaker 1: don't just stop living your life because something happened. UM.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And that was and I think a lot of the
- 15:27Speaker 1: times we want to do that, we're like, I don't
- 15:28Speaker 1: really deserve to be out and about right now, right,
- 15:32Speaker 1: but I do. So that was really powerful for me
- 15:35Speaker 1: was being able to be reflective of how I am
- 15:38Speaker 1: treating my own physical space around me. Right. If our
- 15:42Speaker 1: mental health spirals, it's really easy to let our space
- 15:46Speaker 1: spiral as well, right exactly, So being really intentional with
- 15:51Speaker 1: what I'm doing in my in my own space right
- 15:53Speaker 1: making sure that it feels like it should feel and
- 15:56Speaker 1: reflects like what I needed to reflect. Does that make sense?
- 15:59Speaker 1: It's that makes sense. And I personally have always known
- 16:02Speaker 1: that I feel better, acts better, produce better when my
- 16:08Speaker 1: space is clean and is neat and reflects like the
- 16:13Speaker 1: mood that I want to be in. Absolutely. One thing
- 16:16Speaker 1: that I read UM a while back when I was
- 16:19Speaker 1: when I was kind of going through like a very
- 16:21Speaker 1: depressive episode UM was to focus on just one area.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Because when you're really when you're really deep in your
- 16:29Speaker 1: anxiety or your depression or both, UM, you can't. You
- 16:33Speaker 1: can't do anything right. You really can't. So instead of
- 16:35Speaker 1: feeling overwhelmed and being like, oh my god, this is
- 16:38Speaker 1: a mess, right, focus on one small area. And that's
- 16:41Speaker 1: been really helpful for me. It's like, Okay, you know
- 16:42Speaker 1: what today, right now, in the next five minutes, I'm
- 16:45Speaker 1: going to clear out my vanity and make sure that
- 16:47Speaker 1: it's clean at least at least that, and then if
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm feeling better, I'm going to move on to this
- 16:51Speaker 1: other little corner. So that has really worked for me,
- 16:54Speaker 1: and in creating that type of sustainability or that routine
- 16:58Speaker 1: in my life. Um, in terms of my space. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 1: that's really helpful because no, definitely, Like I think it's
- 17:05Speaker 1: easy to get caught up in this idea that it's
- 17:09Speaker 1: a huge job, like getting your space together or organizing
- 17:13Speaker 1: your space, and you get so deep into your mind
- 17:16Speaker 1: thinking about what a big job it is and how
- 17:18Speaker 1: many different things you have to do that you don't
- 17:20Speaker 1: do anything. Absolutely overwhelm yourself, overwhelm yourself when it's really
- 17:25Speaker 1: not that overwhelming, right, but it can be like those
- 17:28Speaker 1: tasks feel very overwhelming at the moment. In the moment, absolutely, yeah. Yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And for me as far as like making my space
- 17:35Speaker 1: my own, like I have my apartment now and I've
- 17:38Speaker 1: been slowly, you know, like trying to make it as
- 17:40Speaker 1: me as possible and as comfortable as possible, as fun
- 17:43Speaker 1: as possible. And when I came back from Michigre was
- 17:47Speaker 1: so inspired to add as much like plant life, as
- 17:51Speaker 1: many plant babies as possible. Oh my god, you have
- 17:54Speaker 1: a really good selfie and you're like a plant selfie
- 17:56Speaker 1: a day keeps the cochinos away. Yes, yes, I to
- 18:00Speaker 1: live by that. Clad selfies, fruit selfies, those are good
- 18:04Speaker 1: for you. So what did you do? I know you
- 18:07Speaker 1: crafted something. Oh my god. So I was on my
- 18:10Speaker 1: like literally like seeing Frieda's house and the way that
- 18:13Speaker 1: she used like really kind of interesting and unique like
- 18:18Speaker 1: decorative elements to bring her house to life. I came
- 18:21Speaker 1: home and I was on my like dollar tree, d
- 18:24Speaker 1: I Y my Pinterest, BTA flow like I was about to.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god, I'm gonna make this
- 18:30Speaker 1: space like I will leave this kitchen, but with like
- 18:34Speaker 1: a hipster like a chipster twist. Okay, because you know,
- 18:37Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of us have like my grandmother.
- 18:40Speaker 1: She loves her doilies, she loves her pictures, and she
- 18:43Speaker 1: loves her plants like my grandma's. My grandma Natche is
- 18:46Speaker 1: the type of lady that has like a lush garden.
- 18:49Speaker 1: She's up at four in the morning watering it. It's
- 18:52Speaker 1: her pride and joy. Her roses are like no other
- 18:55Speaker 1: gorgeous garden, and she is constantly like taking clippings to
- 18:59Speaker 1: that she can start new plants. And so she raises
- 19:03Speaker 1: plants like she raises children, like there's always a plant
- 19:06Speaker 1: in progress, and so like for my apartment, the gifts
- 19:08Speaker 1: that she continues to give me She's always giving me
- 19:11Speaker 1: new plants that she started, yeah, out of clipping. So
- 19:14Speaker 1: for me like having grown up with that, with that
- 19:18Speaker 1: emphasis on greenery and on like plant life in the
- 19:21Speaker 1: house and in the garden, and then seeing in Mexico
- 19:23Speaker 1: City how it was such a big thing also in
- 19:26Speaker 1: all the restaurants, in people's houses and like the outdoor decorations,
- 19:30Speaker 1: plants everywhere, you know, in Freedi's house, plants everywhere. I
- 19:33Speaker 1: was just like, this is culturally relevant. Absolutely. I like
- 19:37Speaker 1: that because my mom is she is very much into plants,
- 19:41Speaker 1: like having plants at the house. And my mom's saying
- 19:44Speaker 1: is always like flowers really brightened up and change a room.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And I always have roses in my room, right, always
- 19:49Speaker 1: have some type of flowers in my room because it
- 19:52Speaker 1: really does shift the energy. And what I like to
- 19:55Speaker 1: do is repurpose them in the sense that I make rosewater.
- 19:58Speaker 1: When I'm done with my roses, right, and it comes
- 20:00Speaker 1: to like, you know, the end of it, it's like, well,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I don't want to just do these away. They're not done.
- 20:04Speaker 1: They're not done, So I make rosewater, you know, And
- 20:08Speaker 1: so something I love that and Nokia does Rosewater's literal
- 20:13Speaker 1: clip of that yes, yes, that's a great idea. Actually.
- 20:16Speaker 1: So what I and of course, like my grandmother and
- 20:19Speaker 1: what we do is any glass that comes into the
- 20:22Speaker 1: house gets the label scrubbed off and turned into something else. Right,
- 20:27Speaker 1: So what I did, I did a couple of things.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I made like this because I have this fridge in
- 20:32Speaker 1: my apartment that I think is so ugly, Like I
- 20:34Speaker 1: hate looking at the fridge because it's just this block.
- 20:37Speaker 1: So I went and I got these little metal pots
- 20:41Speaker 1: from the dollar tree, my dollar tree, d I y.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I got some moss like deer moss and succulents like
- 20:48Speaker 1: from my grandmother's garden, and I made like a hanging
- 20:51Speaker 1: like terrarium garden. It's beautiful, like a magnetic hanging garden
- 20:55Speaker 1: for the side of my fridge. The whole thing costs
- 20:57Speaker 1: about five dollars, and I am obsessed. I'm obsessed with
- 21:02Speaker 1: my like hanging garden. And then what I started doing
- 21:05Speaker 1: is just like taking all of my glassware and then
- 21:08Speaker 1: taking clippings and putting them in the glass to start
- 21:12Speaker 1: the plants. So now I have plants like in my
- 21:13Speaker 1: shower everywhere. Now I absolutely love that, especially because I
- 21:19Speaker 1: feel like I have been noticing plants a lot lately
- 21:22Speaker 1: in the past few weeks. Are they calling you? They
- 21:26Speaker 1: are calling, The plants are calling, The plants are calling me.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Somebody may is making me a hanging plants. So I
- 21:34Speaker 1: just feel like plants are just there's something right now,
- 21:38Speaker 1: there's something maybe in both of our lives. There's something right.
- 21:41Speaker 1: New growth, new growth. Oh, I love it. I love it,
- 21:45Speaker 1: new girl. I think like health, longevity. Yes, after seeing
- 21:49Speaker 1: the healer, you know, she was telling me like stop
- 21:53Speaker 1: basically stopped forcing what the universe is trying to take
- 21:56Speaker 1: out of your life, you know. And I think that
- 21:58Speaker 1: I spent the last year doing that life, just forcing
- 22:01Speaker 1: something that wasn't meant for me anymore, that didn't fit.
- 22:03Speaker 1: It didn't fit, you know. It was heart hurtful, harmful
- 22:10Speaker 1: to multiple people, you know. So I feel like this
- 22:13Speaker 1: is where I'm supposed to be now, and it feels
- 22:15Speaker 1: really beautiful. It feels like growth, like growth and shedding
- 22:20Speaker 1: the old, shedding the extra baggage, clearing out the excess,
- 22:26Speaker 1: the unnecessary, clearing out the trash because you can't take
- 22:31Speaker 1: it with you and you shouldn't take it with you,
- 22:33Speaker 1: which leads us to our song break. I think this
- 22:36Speaker 1: is a beautiful, beautiful natural transition and um of it
- 23:23Speaker 1: and little ship. Okay, welcome back, Thanks for bearing with us. Yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 1: welcome back. We hope you enjoyed. Back Lady, Yes, bad
- 23:36Speaker 1: Lady is one of those like classic timeless bad do
- 23:40Speaker 1: songs that I think just has so much meaning. Um.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And I feel like that song means more and more
- 23:46Speaker 1: to me as I get older. I agree with you,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I feel that way too, absolutely, Like I think you
- 23:51Speaker 1: have to get older and have experiences to like really
- 23:54Speaker 1: get into that song. Um. So you're a pack light, yes,
- 23:58Speaker 1: pack light, And I feel like that has a lot
- 24:00Speaker 1: to do with not only like moving about life, moving
- 24:04Speaker 1: through life, through relationships, but also how we keep our sanctuaries.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, mind blown because when I for my
- 24:14Speaker 1: birthday last year, it literally just came to me right now.
- 24:17Speaker 1: For my birthday last year, I had a meditation session
- 24:19Speaker 1: with my da the Bathy shout out hey girl, and
- 24:22Speaker 1: you're listening. Um. And when we were meditating, like there
- 24:28Speaker 1: was a message that I would like I had for
- 24:30Speaker 1: myself and it was all you have to hold onto
- 24:33Speaker 1: is you? That was the message to myself. Like on
- 24:35Speaker 1: the eve of my twenty third birthday and that's in
- 24:38Speaker 1: the song. It's full circle. Literally just revealed itself to
- 24:46Speaker 1: me right now. That's really interesting. So like what do
- 24:49Speaker 1: you take away from that? All I have to hold
- 24:52Speaker 1: onto is me. I'm all I need castle light exactly.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I love it. Wow. Okay, so here radio, let's talk
- 25:05Speaker 1: about it. Let's talk about it. So you know, I
- 25:08Speaker 1: call my my room because as you all know, I
- 25:10Speaker 1: live at home. Graduated from UCSB and I'm I'm back home,
- 25:15Speaker 1: you know, And um so I call my room the
- 25:17Speaker 1: palace because it's so me, it's so pink, my vanity
- 25:21Speaker 1: is beautiful. It's just I call it like my it's
- 25:25Speaker 1: just my space. Right Like if my mom wants to
- 25:27Speaker 1: come and tell me something and I'm like hold on,
- 25:28Speaker 1: it's a negative and she's like yes, and like you
- 25:30Speaker 1: can't talk about it in here. That's kind of my
- 25:32Speaker 1: role from my room because I'm like, no, this is
- 25:34Speaker 1: my space. Um so yeah, the diosa palace with roses everywhere.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I have my ceau controllers, you know, hanging, I have
- 25:43Speaker 1: my that is, I have my plants also, so I think,
- 25:47Speaker 1: um yeah, your your space should be your sanctuary, absolutely,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and it's and it's a process. It doesn't happen overnight.
- 25:56Speaker 1: To work on it. You really do have to work
- 25:58Speaker 1: on it a little by little, yeah, a little by all,
- 26:00Speaker 1: so that it's not so it's like authentically you not
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm filling up the space because I feel that it
- 26:07Speaker 1: needs to be filled more like for me it's bringing
- 26:11Speaker 1: because like, for example, like my mother. I love my mother,
- 26:14Speaker 1: she's awesome, but she and my grandma, I think, have
- 26:17Speaker 1: a tendency I think, like a lot of Latino families
- 26:19Speaker 1: to fill up the space to the brim, Like if
- 26:23Speaker 1: there's a spare square inch, we need to put you know,
- 26:27Speaker 1: like a little table there or a little nightstand there.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Needs to be something. It needs to be something. So
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm trying to like really appreciate that tendency to like,
- 26:37Speaker 1: you know, utilize the space to maximize the space while
- 26:40Speaker 1: also not letting it get cluttered. Clutter affects me negatively,
- 26:45Speaker 1: but I was raised with a lot of clutter, So
- 26:48Speaker 1: I'm trying to like fight that, you know, maximize the space,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but not be overwhelmed and crowded out of my own area.
- 26:55Speaker 1: You know. That's that's so interesting because we're still like
- 26:57Speaker 1: extra like excessive pete us to the two of us specifically,
- 27:05Speaker 1: but here we are talking about how like it needs
- 27:07Speaker 1: to be minimal trying right, we're trying to make in
- 27:11Speaker 1: that direction, that general direction, because I aim for that too,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and it's a struggles. I have a lot of ship.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It is easier to hold onto things that you don't
- 27:20Speaker 1: need than to really clear out the things that you
- 27:23Speaker 1: don't need. This is inspiring me to clean out my closet. Also,
- 27:27Speaker 1: it's a disaster and it's a continuous process. Like I
- 27:29Speaker 1: feel like you're younger and you think, Okay, I cleaned
- 27:32Speaker 1: already and it's over. No, cleaning is continuous, continuous. Clearing
- 27:36Speaker 1: out is continuous, And I feel like that's a good
- 27:38Speaker 1: metaphor just like for life in general, you know, clearing
- 27:41Speaker 1: your space, your head space, your emotional space, your physical space.
- 27:46Speaker 1: That's a constant process. Yeah, And that just I feel
- 27:50Speaker 1: like I've seen so much on the internet the past
- 27:52Speaker 1: few weeks or like on Instagram about like how your
- 27:55Speaker 1: ancestors are guiding you, right, the universe is guiding you, like,
- 27:58Speaker 1: don't be afraid, don't be fearful, Like you have a
- 28:00Speaker 1: tribe of people behind you guiding you. Absolutely. Yeah, And
- 28:05Speaker 1: I really like that and I think that ties in
- 28:07Speaker 1: yeah yeah, hell yeah, hell yeah. And as far as
- 28:11Speaker 1: other ways that I've made my space like more conducive
- 28:16Speaker 1: to the energy that I want. I took the TV
- 28:19Speaker 1: out of my room because I really only used the
- 28:21Speaker 1: TV to watch the news, and the news is horrific.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It's horrifying. So I've decided that your bedroom, my bedroom
- 28:29Speaker 1: should only be for sleeping, sex and I don't know,
- 28:34Speaker 1: just lounging. Yeah, just lounging. It should just be for
- 28:38Speaker 1: for rest and relaxation. I agree with you. Not that
- 28:41Speaker 1: other type of like mental or like sad or scary
- 28:47Speaker 1: or traumatizing stimulation. You know, that needs to be outside
- 28:51Speaker 1: of the bedroom. So I that's what I've tried to do.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I try to not have electronics in my room anymore,
- 28:57Speaker 1: you know. Um, I try not to have too much
- 29:01Speaker 1: like distraction in my room. You know. The focus should
- 29:04Speaker 1: be I'm there to rest and what I loved, Oh
- 29:07Speaker 1: my god, this is why I'm and free to call
- 29:08Speaker 1: our soul sisters. Is because she had a day bed
- 29:13Speaker 1: and a day bedroom and a night bed. I remember that.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I love it. Yes, So she was all about the
- 29:20Speaker 1: day nap, you know, the lounging during the day, which
- 29:24Speaker 1: I think is great. It's great. Oh, I love lounging.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And now during the day, if you get if you
- 29:30Speaker 1: get a chance to, if we have a day free,
- 29:33Speaker 1: if we have downtime, then yes, I'm going to lay
- 29:36Speaker 1: down and take a nap. I'm going to chill. Those
- 29:39Speaker 1: are some of my favorite days. They don't happen often,
- 29:42Speaker 1: right when they do, it's great, it's great, and it's
- 29:45Speaker 1: exactly what you need sometimes exactly. So I'm wondering, Mala,
- 29:49Speaker 1: what do you have like a morning talking about like
- 29:52Speaker 1: day and night beds? Right, do you have like a
- 29:55Speaker 1: morning ritual and an evening ritual? Is that something that
- 29:57Speaker 1: you're creating? Do you have something already in well? I
- 30:01Speaker 1: was really raised like waking up like at six thirty.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I wake up at six thirty. It doesn't matter if
- 30:07Speaker 1: I have an alarm, Like my body wakes up at
- 30:09Speaker 1: that time regardless, and turning on the news and having
- 30:13Speaker 1: a cup of coffee and like sitting down and just
- 30:16Speaker 1: like waking up, having something to eat. I always take
- 30:20Speaker 1: a shower in the morning. Um, if I can, I'll
- 30:23Speaker 1: take for a walk, you know, because I like to
- 30:27Speaker 1: do like you know, a lap around the block. Um,
- 30:29Speaker 1: not running, walking slowly, you know, a little sachet around
- 30:36Speaker 1: the block, and that's usually like a good morning for me. Um.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It's good to make your bed if you can. Absolutely.
- 30:44Speaker 1: My mother, I don't remember if it was my mother
- 30:48Speaker 1: or my best friends her mother, but somebody has Senora
- 30:53Speaker 1: told us when we were younger that if you don't
- 30:56Speaker 1: make your bed in the morning, then the devil sleeps
- 30:59Speaker 1: in it. You're in the day. Yes, I've heard right.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So that has gotten me into the frame of mind
- 31:05Speaker 1: that I better make my bed because I don't even
- 31:07Speaker 1: want to risk it. I don't even need like, I
- 31:12Speaker 1: don't need just I don't need any other gateways for
- 31:14Speaker 1: the devil to get to me are enough. I don't
- 31:17Speaker 1: need to leave any open invitation. I'm just saying it's
- 31:21Speaker 1: a precaution. I love that. So I have a very
- 31:25Speaker 1: similar ritual in the morning. Recently, in the past few months,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I've been really struggling to eat like breakfast and even
- 31:31Speaker 1: like wake up. It's been and I've never been this way,
- 31:34Speaker 1: but in the past few months it's been a thing.
- 31:36Speaker 1: So I'm trying to track it and see what it is. Um.
- 31:40Speaker 1: But generally my morning is very similar to my mother's.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It's very much like we're we listened to the radio.
- 31:46Speaker 1: My mom always says, Caleb on in the morning, I know,
- 31:49Speaker 1: and or I can from my bedroom, I can hear
- 31:52Speaker 1: the news that she's watching, so I can tune in
- 31:55Speaker 1: while I'm putting my makeup on and having my cup
- 31:57Speaker 1: of coffee. And that's my morning ritual. I feel like
- 32:00Speaker 1: I'm always sucking rushing, which I hate that about the morning.
- 32:05Speaker 1: My mornings, I'm always rushing, even though I would love
- 32:07Speaker 1: it to be like a ritual like Frank, you know,
- 32:11Speaker 1: unfortunately I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Um it's a process. And then in terms of the evening,
- 32:17Speaker 1: do you have any evening ritual? I like I go
- 32:23Speaker 1: in and out of rituals in the evening because like
- 32:26Speaker 1: sometimes I'm just so tired, Like I just want to
- 32:28Speaker 1: go home and just sit and just like veg and
- 32:32Speaker 1: just go to sleep aboutely, I do like a glass
- 32:35Speaker 1: of wine at night. I have only very recently found,
- 32:38Speaker 1: like discovered the power of the bubble bath. Like I've
- 32:43Speaker 1: taken bubble baths before, but I have a tub now,
- 32:47Speaker 1: and I'm like, why don't I utilize this let me
- 32:49Speaker 1: take a hot bubble bath and have a glass of wine,
- 32:53Speaker 1: and it was incredible. I've never felt so relaxed in
- 32:56Speaker 1: my life, you know. Afterwards that was me a few
- 32:59Speaker 1: like maybe a month or two ago. I hadn't I
- 33:01Speaker 1: don't really have edibles and I don't smoke either, but
- 33:04Speaker 1: I had like half of an edible and I took
- 33:06Speaker 1: a bath and it was and it was amazing. I
- 33:08Speaker 1: felt so relaxed. I was like, I'm going to sleep
- 33:10Speaker 1: in this bathtub. I need to get out exactly. It
- 33:13Speaker 1: was beautiful. I had never felt so relaxed. Yeah, a bath,
- 33:17Speaker 1: a bubble bath, like that's a real tool if you have.
- 33:21Speaker 1: If you have that available, I highly recommend it. Take
- 33:24Speaker 1: that extra time and soak that. Like it's going to
- 33:27Speaker 1: be my new like alternative turn up. Like I might
- 33:31Speaker 1: not be at the club, but I will be in
- 33:33Speaker 1: a body. I asked Mela when she did last night,
- 33:36Speaker 1: did you make it out? She was like, no, I
- 33:37Speaker 1: fell asleep. I don't go out as much anymore. I'm
- 33:42Speaker 1: just okay. I'm tired. It's exhausting. It's exhausting, exhausting, and
- 33:47Speaker 1: I feel like after a while, I get this feeling
- 33:51Speaker 1: that we've already been everywhere. I only do so much
- 33:54Speaker 1: shout out mommy, collective, collective, our party crew, sisterhood, mommy,
- 34:00Speaker 1: these all of that above. Um, but yeah, do not.
- 34:03Speaker 1: We cannot end up at ONYX anymore, never again. Please
- 34:06Speaker 1: know A the men apparently are extremely aggressive and become
- 34:11Speaker 1: violent in the sucking toss of a coin because as
- 34:15Speaker 1: we know, men are trash hashtag men are trash ak
- 34:17Speaker 1: men are trash translation, men are trash um and we
- 34:22Speaker 1: hold firm to that belief. It's a belief at this point,
- 34:25Speaker 1: it's just a piece of our local epistemology. It is
- 34:32Speaker 1: or no segment those coming apart. Two is coming up.
- 34:36Speaker 1: But we've had friends like you know, talk to guys
- 34:38Speaker 1: who end up having like newborn babies and fiance's and
- 34:42Speaker 1: entire families. And then our friend, Um, I guess these
- 34:46Speaker 1: guys started talking to her and they came off as
- 34:49Speaker 1: quote unquote nice guys, complimenting her, but then when she
- 34:53Speaker 1: walked away, she didn't want to talk to them anymore.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Like I guess, immediately they flipped and they called her
- 34:59Speaker 1: like a miserable bitch and this and that and started
- 35:02Speaker 1: kussing in her, which is like why do we keep
- 35:06Speaker 1: having these experiences We shouldn't have these experiences. Keep in mind,
- 35:10Speaker 1: these are adults, adult men exactly, that can't regulate their
- 35:14Speaker 1: own emotions. Yeah, that happened to me recently at at
- 35:19Speaker 1: a fundraiser that I was at where well, not that exactly,
- 35:22Speaker 1: but somebody there was really insistently trying to talk to
- 35:25Speaker 1: me and kept trying to take me outside or talk
- 35:28Speaker 1: to the side, like just really trying to have a
- 35:31Speaker 1: conversation with me that I did not want to have
- 35:33Speaker 1: and away from other people and away from other people
- 35:36Speaker 1: that when I did step out, I had to let
- 35:37Speaker 1: my bodma know, like, hey, if can you come and
- 35:40Speaker 1: get me in five minutes because I don't want to
- 35:41Speaker 1: be outside with this person. Um, but I just need
- 35:45Speaker 1: to get this over with because they're not leaving me alone, right,
- 35:48Speaker 1: And unfortunately it had to get to that point, right.
- 35:51Speaker 1: But it's like these are grown people, adults that don't
- 35:55Speaker 1: know it's their needs, what they want when they want
- 35:59Speaker 1: it exactly. And actually, when me and my girlfriends were
- 36:04Speaker 1: in Mexico City, we hadn't experience where of course, the
- 36:09Speaker 1: men that tried us the most aggressively were these white
- 36:13Speaker 1: British businessmen. We were out to dinner one night, me
- 36:17Speaker 1: and my two home girls. Oh my god, I was
- 36:18Speaker 1: so upset. I was so mad. I was so mad.
- 36:21Speaker 1: And I'm not afraid to fight with men like I
- 36:24Speaker 1: will get I will cuss at you, i will tell
- 36:26Speaker 1: you you ain't shit and fuck you in front of
- 36:29Speaker 1: you and all of your homeboys out in public. And
- 36:31Speaker 1: I don't care. Like she has done it, I've seen it,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I'm known, I am known to snap it men, and
- 36:36Speaker 1: I will not hold my tongue. So we're out at dinner.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Luckily I was not drinking. We had just sat down,
- 36:41Speaker 1: we had just ordered, we didn't have our stuff yet.
- 36:43Speaker 1: And at the table next to us at this restaurant
- 36:45Speaker 1: in Mexico City, there's a mixture of like Mexican business
- 36:48Speaker 1: people in their suits and stuff, and then these white
- 36:51Speaker 1: British men in their suits, and they were all like
- 36:56Speaker 1: disgustingly drunk. Like everybody was let up, everybody was so girl.
- 37:00Speaker 1: And one of the white British guys was like making
- 37:02Speaker 1: a big scene and being really sloppy and being really annoying,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and like the waiters and stuff, like the Mexican waiters
- 37:08Speaker 1: would like stand behind us so that this guy wouldn't
- 37:11Speaker 1: fall on top of us because he was so sloppy.
- 37:14Speaker 1: But then he would come over to our table and
- 37:16Speaker 1: he started, like so drunk, saying to us like, listen, ladies,
- 37:20Speaker 1: if you want me to leave, just say so. But
- 37:22Speaker 1: I just have something to say. So he lead with that,
- 37:25Speaker 1: if you want me to leave, just say so. So
- 37:27Speaker 1: we said to him immediately, okay, please leave, you know,
- 37:31Speaker 1: walk away, and then he would repeat listen, listen, listen.
- 37:34Speaker 1: If you don't want me to if you don't want
- 37:36Speaker 1: me here, just tell me. So we would say go,
- 37:39Speaker 1: please leave, and then he started cussing at us. Oh,
- 37:42Speaker 1: funk off, funk off, are you telling me I don't
- 37:44Speaker 1: have a chance? This and that? And his friends, all
- 37:47Speaker 1: these other men Mexican and British alike. Nobody stopped him,
- 37:51Speaker 1: nobody pulled him away. He's over here cussing at us,
- 37:53Speaker 1: these random women just trying to get our dinner. And
- 37:59Speaker 1: so he's cussing at us. His friend comes over and
- 38:02Speaker 1: it's just kind of like laughing and enabling him, and
- 38:05Speaker 1: he's participating and like taunting us and stuff, and like
- 38:09Speaker 1: the waiters, nobody said anything to him or pulled him away.
- 38:12Speaker 1: His friends weren't pulling him away, so I got angry
- 38:15Speaker 1: and I got loud, and I started cussing at him,
- 38:17Speaker 1: and I was like, you need to funk off and
- 38:19Speaker 1: this and that, because it was so persistent and nobody
- 38:23Speaker 1: was saying anything, you know, And it was like incredible
- 38:27Speaker 1: to me because as a woman, I have never had
- 38:30Speaker 1: a desire or a need to like go up to
- 38:34Speaker 1: somebody who like didn't invite me over, didn't signal that
- 38:38Speaker 1: they want to talk to me, who's actively asking me
- 38:40Speaker 1: to leave and insist on like being there. It's weird
- 38:44Speaker 1: the way that a lot of men insist on like
- 38:48Speaker 1: imposing their presence on you if you're a woman. So
- 38:51Speaker 1: it was really annoying. Finally they dragged him away, but
- 38:55Speaker 1: it was like I could not believe, like really in
- 38:58Speaker 1: Mexico City, this white man just tried me. Like it's
- 39:03Speaker 1: just frustrating, you know, frustrating. So how do you keep
- 39:06Speaker 1: your space positive? Exactly? That's exactly what I was gonna say.
- 39:09Speaker 1: We live in a harsh ass world where men won't quit,
- 39:12Speaker 1: women are trashed. So having your sanctuary, having your space,
- 39:16Speaker 1: your sacred space away from away from men, for yourself,
- 39:20Speaker 1: away from any toxic people, anyone um that you need
- 39:23Speaker 1: to get away from, because when we're out in public,
- 39:25Speaker 1: we can't control who comes into our space or imposes
- 39:28Speaker 1: it imposes themselves on our space, like as women or
- 39:31Speaker 1: as fems right right. I'm thinking like, because say you
- 39:34Speaker 1: don't have the privilege or the luxury to have your
- 39:37Speaker 1: own space, right either you share a bedroom, you you
- 39:40Speaker 1: share an apartment, you know, whatever it is. So I
- 39:43Speaker 1: think trying to find something that makes you feel like
- 39:46Speaker 1: this is mine, absolutely yeah. And I feel like for
- 39:50Speaker 1: some people that might even be you have your table
- 39:53Speaker 1: at your coffee shop that you always go to, yeah, absolutely,
- 39:56Speaker 1: or your your your desk at the library that is
- 40:00Speaker 1: comfortable for you, or keeping like obsidian, or like some
- 40:04Speaker 1: type of negative block, um, negative energy block at your
- 40:07Speaker 1: desk at work, right that can make you feel safer
- 40:11Speaker 1: when there's a bunch of ship happening at work, right,
- 40:13Speaker 1: or something that's ways I think maybe finding maybe you
- 40:17Speaker 1: have multiple like little safe spaces like throughout your your life. Yeah,
- 40:22Speaker 1: something like that your routine, Yeah absolutely, Yeah it's important
- 40:26Speaker 1: because like again, like it's so possible to live a
- 40:30Speaker 1: life where either you're shut in and shut away from everybody,
- 40:34Speaker 1: and you risk like not reaching your full potential, or
- 40:38Speaker 1: you risk not meeting like the types of friends you
- 40:41Speaker 1: might want to have, or developing those connections with chosen family.
- 40:44Speaker 1: But sometimes when you're not shutting and you're you're out
- 40:47Speaker 1: and about, there's also always that potential for somebody to
- 40:50Speaker 1: invade your space, right, So it's so tricky. Sometimes finding
- 40:55Speaker 1: the balance works for you. Absolutely. Yeah, So that's all
- 41:00Speaker 1: that we have for today. It felt so good to
- 41:04Speaker 1: record again. Yeah, I'm happy Ali. Yeah, I missed Mala
- 41:07Speaker 1: while she was away. Um so yeah, thank you for
